Key Taliban Commander Killed in Parwan Drone Strike
[Tolo News] A key Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
commander'>Taliban Überstürmbannführer
was killed in a foreign troops dronezap in northern Parwan province on Saturday night, local officials said.

The strike took place in Ezat Khil area of Jabal Saraj district of the province after Afghan cops launched a ground operation and had foreign troops air support, Mohammad Masoum Farzayee, police chief of Jabal Saraj said.

"Troops came from Kabul and they launched a military operation in Ezat Khil and the foreign troops also provided support from the air in which Mullah Agha Gul, a Taliban Überstürmbannführer and one of his fighters, were killed," Farzayee said.

Mohammad Asim Asim, the provincial governor rejected the reports of a dronezap in the area but said that ground forces launched the operation against a group of Taliban snuffies in which "two of the snuffies were killed so far."

Three security forces were also maimed in the operation, Asim said.

However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
he did not provide further details.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the operation.

Libyan forces attack Islamic State near former stronghold
[REUTERS] East Libyan forces said they had launched air strikes on Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
fighters after the murderous Moslems made incursions south and east of their former coastal stronghold of Sirte.

The jihadist group has grown bolder in recent weeks, setting up temporary checkpoints, attacking local forces, and taking over a village mosque to lead prayers during the Moslem holiday of Eid al-Adha, Libyan officials say.

The increased activity has raised concern that Islamic State could regroup around Sirte, from where it was driven out in December by local forces and a U.S. air campaign. Most murderous Moslems were killed in the nearly seven-month battle, but an unknown number fled into the desert to the south and west.

Sirte lies at the center of Libya’s Mediterranean coastline, on the dividing line between regions controlled by rival Libyan factions.

Forces loyal to eastern-based commander Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
said they had carried out air strikes on Sunday against murderous Moslems in the area of Ain Taqrift, between Sirte and the town of Zillah, 306 km (190 miles) to the south east. The area is close to oil fields previously damaged by Islamic State attacks.

Arabia
Soddy warbirds hit rebel positions in Hajjah
Aden- Saudi-led Arab Coalition air forces, backing the official government in Yemen, pounded a military target in Hajjah governorate, said well-informed sources within the coalition.

More importantly, the target destroyed was a telecommunications base used by Houthi militiamen, and was taken out two days after coalition forces destroyed a ballistic missile launchpad, delivering a severe blow to militia ranks.

Sources also pointed out that the communications center was active at the time of targeting.

“The center is a legitimate military target wedged in rural area in-between mountains, isolated on high altitude. Available intelligence showed that this center was being utilized by Houthi armed militias to direct combatants,” sources added.

Coalition aircraft destroyed two days ago a platform to launch ballistic missiles, in the province of Hajjah northwest of Yemen.

Sources pointed out that coalition forces launched several raids on putschist targets in that region, which compromised their military might and managed to exact losses among militia personnel.

The ballistic missile launchpad was destroyed shortly after it had launched a projectile pointed towards Saudi borders. Despite camouflage, the missile launchpad was successfully taken out.

The Yemeni army earlier announced the death of a high-ranking Houthi commander named Ali Abdul-Malik Sharafuddin, who was killed in a coalition airstrike alongside a number of his companions in Midi, another Hajjah governorate city.

On the other hand, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement announced being deeply saddened by the death of Dr. Abdulah Alkhamesi, founder of the Yemen Red Crescent Society in 1973 and its leader for nearly three decades.

Alkhamesi was known within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement as a man with a deep belief in humanity, who worked tirelessly in the service of his fellow human beings.

The death of Alkhamesi was hastened by a lack of essential medical supplies, yet another indication of the collapsing health system in Yemen—a direct consequence of the conflict and the debilitating restrictions on imports such as much-needed drugs and medical supplies.

The situation in Yemen is dire, with less than half of the hospitals and clinics still open. Medical staff and Yemen Red Crescent staff and volunteers continue to carry out their tasks as best they can despite acute shortages.

The Yemen Red Crescent Society (YRCS), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) continue to uphold the same humanitarian commitment that guided Alkhamesi throughout his life—to help and support the people living in Yemen, said the organization in a statement published to their official website.

Four arrested over gang rapes in Italian seaside town
[TheLocal.it] Italian police tossed in the slammer
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
a man on Sunday suspected of involvement in two rapes last week.

The man, a 20-year-old, was the last of the gang of four to be arrested and the only adult among the suspects.

"The last of the suspected Rimini rapists has been located and arrested," said police in a statement on Monday morning. "The man was captured by coppers on a train to Milan from Pesaro."

Rimini police chief Maurizio Improta said the arrest was "doubly satisfying" because the two officers who handcuffed the suspect were female. Improta called this "a symbolic gesture which gave justice to the victims of the violence".

The below video was shared by police and shows officers escorting the suspect to a police car.

Pesaro is located 40km southeast of Rimini, a popular seaside resort on the Adriatic Coast where the attack took place.

The men allegedly raped a Polish tourist and badly beat up her husband on a Rimini beach, and later raped a transgender woman in a park.

Italia's interior minister Marco Minniti congratulated police for apprehending the suspects so quickly.

Two other members of the gang, who are brothers aged 15 and 17, handed themselves into police in connection with the rapes on Saturday. Their father told the local paper Il Resto del Carlino he had recognized his sons in CCTV images shared by police, and told them to report themselves.

Shortly afterwards, a third suspect aged 16 was detained in a nearby town.

The three minors were previously known to police, but due to their age they are being held in a juvenile detention centre and their names have not been released.

The 20-year-old arrested on Sunday has been identified as a Congolese national who arrived in Italia as an asylum seeker in 2015. Following the rejection of his request for asylum, he was granted permission to stay in Italia until 2018 on humanitarian grounds, according to Italian media reports.
Breitbart adds:
Four suspects with roots in the Congo, Nigeria, and Morocco have been nabbed
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
following the assault, robbery, and gang rape of a Polish couple and a Peruvian transsexual in Rimini, Italia.

The two Moroccans handed themselves in after being identified by family members, The Times reports.

A man from Nigeria ‐ who claims to be 16-years-old ‐ was captured shortly afterwards, whilst a 20-year-old from the Congo was intercepted whilst attempting to escape to La Belle France by train.

The last of these ‐ Guerlin Butungu ‐ is the only one to have been named by the authorities. He is an asylum seeker whose claim was rejected, "but granted temporary permission to stay in Italia until 2018 on humanitarian grounds" regardless, according to the News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

The two Moroccans, said to be aged 15 and 17 and born in Italia, were ordered to turn themselves in by their father, a welder named as Mohammed by the Italian press.

"I told them to go straight to the police. I don’t want my sons doing this shit. It can happen that someone steals a mobile phone, but not that he rapes a woman. If they did something like that, they must pay.

"If someone rapes one of my women, my wife or my mother or my daughter, I will kill them."

Baghdad Bomb and Bullet Bulletin

6 wounded in bombing attack in al-Dawanem

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Six civilians were wounded in an IED blast in southwestern Baghdad, a security source was quoted saying.

“An IED, placed near a market in al-Dawanem region exploded on Monday, leaving six persons wounded,” the source told Alghad Press on Monday.

“Police cordoned off the blast spot, while ambulances transferred the wounded to hospital for treatment,” the source added.

Violence in the country has surged further with the emergence of Islamic State Sunni extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.

A monthly count by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI), which excludes security members deaths, said 297 Iraqis, were killed and injured due to violence and armed conflicts during the month of ِAugust. Baghdad was the most affected province with 45 deaths and 135 injuries.

Baghdad has seen almost daily bombings and armed attacks against security members, paramilitary groups and civilians since the Iraqi government launched a wide-scale campaign to retake IS-occupied areas in 2016. While most of of the explosions and attacks went without a claim of responsibility, Islamic State has claimed several incidents.

Two Abu Sayyaf men arrested in anti-terror raid
[GULFTODAY.AE] A senior Philippine military officer on Monday confirmed the arrest of two Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
holy warriors in an anti-terrorist crackdown launched by the Malaysian Royal Police in Kuala Lumpur in late August.

Marine Colonel Edgard Arevalo, the chief of the military’s Public Affairs Office, identified one of those enjugged

as Hajar Abdul Mubin alias Mheraiz, said to be a deputy of Abu Sayyaf leader Furuji operating on the island province of Basilan

in Mindanao.

Arevalo identified the other Abu Sayyaf member as Abraham Bin Ebong who, along with Mubin were arrested together with six Malaysian nationals in the anti-terrorism campaign.

Arevalo reported the suspects are detained at an undisclosed facility in Kuala Lumpur and are facing charges for committing security offences and violating Malaysian statutes.

"The arrest and detention of these individuals are a significant development on the Philippine government’s security cooperation with Malaysia and other neighboring countries to curb terrorism," Arevalo said.

"This includes attempts to recruit new members or to entice individuals to support terrorism or violent extremism," Arevalo said, referring to the reported move by ISIS holy warriors in the Middle East to expand their operations in Southeast Asia p-particularly in the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia.

The Abu Sayyaf has gained notoriety through a spate of kidnap-for-ransom cases that have often been marred by the beheading of their foreign and Filipino hostages.

The Philippine military also confirmed the involvement of the Abu Sayyaf in the siege of Marawi City on May 23 that prompted President Rodrigo "Rody" Duterte to impose martial law over the whole Mindanao.

The military said the Abu Sayyaf and another terrorist group headed by brothers Omar and Abdullah Maute have pledged allegiance to the ISIS holy warriors

Fears of humanitarian crisis in Bangladesh as 87,000 refugees arrive from Myanmar: UN
[AlAhram] A total of 87,000 mostly Rohingya refugees have arrived in Bangladesh since violence erupted in neighbouring Myanmar on August 25, the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
said Monday, amid growing international criticism of Aung San Suu Kyi.

Around 20,000 more were massed on the border waiting to enter, the UN said in a report.

Dhaka stepped up border controls after the latest round of violence, but one Bangladeshi border guard told AFP the sheer number of people desperate to enter the country from Myanmar's western state of Rakhine had made it impossible to keep them out.

"It is bigger than the last time," said the guard, who asked not to be named, referring to the influx of refugees that followed an outbreak of violence last October.

"If it continues then we will face serious problems. But it's impossible to stop the flow: these people are everywhere."

Many of the new arrivals lacked shelter from the heavy monsoon rains, and an AFP news hound said hundreds of new makeshift shelters had sprung up on the outskirts of the existing camps in recent days.

Rakhine has been a crucible of religious violence since 2012, when riots erupted. Scores of Rohingya were killed and tens of thousands of people -- most of them from the Moslem minority -- were forced into displacement camps.

But the current round of fighting, which broke out when Rohingya murderous Moslems ambushed security installations, is the worst yet.

Myanmar's army has said nearly 400 people have died in the fighting that ensued, including 370 Rohingya Death Eaters.

On Monday the office of Myanmar's de facto leader Suu Kyi said the military had fought 90 separate festivities with Rohingya murderous Moslems since the ambushes.

In a statement it said more than 2,600 homes had been destroyed in Rohingya villages and 138 houses had been destroyed in non-Moslem villages -- blaming the fires and other damage entirely on the Death Eaters.

Suu Kyi is under increasing fire over her perceived unwillingness to speak out against the treatment of the Rohingya, who are viewed as interlopers in Myanmar.

The Nobel peace laureate, a former political prisoner of Myanmar's junta, has made no public comment since the latest fighting broke out.

The crisis threatens Myanmar's diplomatic relations, particularly with Moslem-majority countries in Southeast Asia where there is profound public anger at the treatment of the Rohingya.

on Monday to press for greater efforts to alleviate the crisis.

Bangladesh, already home to an estimated 400,000 Rohingya before the latest influx, has also come in for international criticism for pushing people back to Myanmar.

Rights groups say this is a contravention of its international obligations.

On Monday officials on the small island of St Martin's nine kilometres (around six miles) off Bangladesh's coast said authorities had forced 2,011 Rohingya seeking refuge there to leave.

Scores of people have drowned while attempting to flee the violence, which also killed or displaced ethnic Rakhine Buddhists and other tribal groups allegedly targeted by Rohingya Death Eaters.

The refugees say that many young Rohingya men have stayed behind to fight.

Syrian forces advance from 3 directions in east Damascus
[AlMadsar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has initiated a massive assault on the defenses of heavily-entrenched Islamist Lions of Islam in east Damascus today, advancing against them from three directions.

The advance was launched by troops two seasoned Syrian Army formations, the Elite Republican Guard and 4th Mechanized Division, and resulted in intense festivities erupting across the east Damascus districts of Jobar and Ayn Tarma.

According to reports, the Syrian soldiers have so far manged to secure a major advance around the Hanbalah tunnel area, forcing Islamist Lions of Islam from their positions through sheer weight of numbers and firepower.

The aforementioned heavy festivities are still on going, as is the current Syrian Army operation, and whether or not additional gains are made by pro-government forces today is yet to be seen.

VIDEO: Syrian Army secures main ISIS base, 2 more towns in east Hama
[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has made another significant advance against besieged ISIS forces in eastern Hama Governorate today, capturing the Islamic State

’s main base in the region and liberating an additional two villages from the terrorist group.

According to reports, the SAA located and overran the main ISIS headquarters for east Hama which is located near the town of Tahmaz. The top command base was found to be buried in the Zabib hill, south of the settlement.

Video footage (below) released by Hezbollah’s media shows Syrian troops touring the inner workings of the underground base.

Moreover, pro-government forces also managed to liberate the towns of Masoud and Um Rammal to the west of ’Uqayribat after a brief engagement with ISIS holy warriors.

Syrian forces inside Deir Ezzor city wreak havoc on ISIS bases, positions
[AlMasdar] As Syrian forces push towards Deir Ezzor from the eastern direction, army units still besieged inside the city, backed up by Russian airstrikes, have begun to attack ISIS bases, gathering points and positions throughout various districts that held are by the terrorist group.

According to sources, Syrian Army artillery units very recently identified and targeted an ISIS headquarters in Deir Ezzor’s Huwyqah district, completely destroying it.

Nine ISIS field commanders were present in the building at the time it was struck and most of them are believe to have been killed. Four of the commanders have been identified as Abu Omar al-Karbouli, Abu Muhammad al-Shaiti, Abu Mariam al-Taiyanah and Abu Moawyah Idlib.

Moreover, Russian and Syrian jets continue to pound ISIS positions and gathering points throughout the city and its surrounding countryside including Ayash, al-Shamitiyah, al-Masrab, al-Kharitah, al-Tabani and the Panorama area. The airstrikes have killed and injured tens of ISIS militants.

Finally, there are reports that many Islamic State fighters have start fleeing towards Deir Ezzor’s eastern countryside amid Syrian Army reliving forces push in on the city.

Syrian Army liberates last town before Deir Ezzor city

[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has reportedly liberated the last town that stands between besieged pro-government forces in Deir Ezzor and eastbound army relief forces attempting to lift the siege on the city.

Several hours ago, reports came in that the strategic crossroad town of Ash-Shula was liberated, bringing vanguard SAA units advancing along the M20 highway to within 25 kilometers of the Panorama area.

Despite numerous reports that Ash-Shula was secured yesterday, this was actually not the case as the Tiger Forces troops who advanced on it decided to set up positions on the northern outskirts of the town and not enter into it.

Whilst it is currently unconfirmed which Syrian Army unit liberated Ash-Shula, with the possibilities being either the Tiger Forces of the 5th Assault Corps, it is most likely the case that it was the later (5th Assault Corps) who in fact secured the town since it is reported that SAA units heading along the M20 highway were the ones to enter it.

In any case, the Tiger Forces held fire control over the town at Mount Neerman since yesterday.

Further north, the SAA is reportedly less than 2 kilometers away from reaching local Deir Ezzor forces at the 137th Brigade Base.

Syrian Army tanks move up to the gates of Deir Ezzor

[AlMasdar] Footage has been released by the Syrian Ministry of Defence (MoD) showing vanguard units of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) punching their way towards the gates of Deir Ezzor city.

The video (below) shows Syrian Army tanks and troops, backed up by Russian gunship support, rolling up the last ISIS positions and defense points en-route to relieve pro-government forces that have been besieged in and around the city for almost three years.

Pro-government forces attempting to reach Deir Ezzor currently stand about five kilometers from the city via the northeastern direction, this is confirmed.

Yesterday there were reports that a deep reconnaissance unit from the SAA’s relieving forces scouted their way to besieged army forces at the 137th Brigade Base on the western outskirts of Deir Ezzor and met up with them.

Even if this is true, the reconnaissance mission does not constitute a proper link-up and thus the siege of Deir Ezzor has not yet been lifted despite some pro-government social media outlets saying otherwise.

Furthermore, the town of Ash-Shula officially remains in the hands of ISIS, with the Syrian Army’s elite Tiger Forces taking up positions on the settlement’s northern outskirts.

Syrian Army liberates strategic town en route to Deir Ezzor City

[AlMasdar] At approximately 12:30 P.M. (Damascus Time), the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) took full control of the strategic town of Kabawjib in the western countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

Led by elements of the 17th Division and 5th Corps, the Syrian Arab Army attacked Kabawjib’s western perimeter after advancing eastward along the Sukhnah-Deir Ezzor Highway.

Unable to hold their positions inside Kabawjib, the Islamic State was forced to withdraw from the town in order to avoid being overrun by the swarming forces of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

Kabawjib was one of the most important supply hubs for the Islamic State in eastern Syria; its loss will likely result in the complete collapse of their western pocket in the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

Two Russian servicemen killed in Syria

[AlMasdar] Two Russian contract soldiers have been killed in Syria by mortar shelling fired by Islamic State terrorists, the Russian defense ministry said on Monday.

According to the ministry, the servicemen were escorting a motor convoy of the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties.

“The motor convoy came under mortar shelling by Islamic State terrorists in the province of Deir ez-Zor. As a result of shelling, one serviceman was killed and another one was badly wounded,” the ministry said.

“The wounded serviceman was promptly taken to hospital but died of deadly wounds, despite efforts taken by medics.”

The men were recommended for state decorations.

Syrian army, allies thrust east to break siege in Deir al-Zor city

[REUTERS] With a sudden lunge through jihadist lines, the Syrian army and its allies on Monday came to within 3 km of relieving the Euphrates city of Deir al-Zor, where Islamic State

has besieged 93,000 civilians and an army garrison for years.

The advance on the eastern city marks another stinging setback for the once-triumphant Islamic State, fast retreating in both Iraq and Syria as its self-declared caliphate crumbles.

Syrian troops were rapidly approaching the city, reaching a point 3 km (2 miles) away, state television

said. Dozens of trucks loaded with food stood ready to enter the enclave in the city once government forces break the siege, it said.

A military media unit run by Hezbollah, a key ally of Damascus, said the advancing forces were heading to the garrison’s camp on the city outskirts.

Deir al-Zor’s provincial governor told Rooters he expected the army could reach the city within hours.

"Islamic State is in confusion. There is no leadership or centralized control," said a commander in the military alliance supporting Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Lord of the Baath...
Hemmed in on all sides, Islamic State, which ruled over millions of people in both Iraq and Syria at its peak in 2014, is falling back on a last Euphrates stronghold downstream of Deir al-Zor city in the towns of al-Mayadin and al-Bukamal, near the border with Iraq.

But as it has lost its core territory - defeated in Iraq’s djinn-infested Mosul

now yielding street after street in Syria’s Raqqa - the ultra-hardline group has still been able to launch attacks in the West and maintain a threat in other centers such as Libya.

US-backed Syrian militias seize Great Mosque of Raqqah from Daesh
[Iran Press TV] The US-led coalition purportedly fighting the ISIS Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorist group says the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have taken the historic old city of Raqqah and its ancient mosque as they press ahead with their offensive to fully recapture the city.

Army Colonel Ryan Dillon, a front man for the US-led coalition, said in a statement on Monday that the US-backed forces had cleared the Great Mosque of Raqqah, the oldest mosque of the city.

The statement also described the advance as "a milestone" in the Raqqah battle.

"The SDF have made consistent incremental gains in the urban terrain of the city, fighting block by block," noted Dillon.

The SDF said last week said it had captured the final districts in Raqqah’s old city from the ISIS terrorist group.

The walled old city lies in the heart of Raqqah, but ISIS gunnies still control districts in the west of the city.

The SDF says it holds 65 percent of Raqqa in total.

1,200 ISIS fighters neutralized in Raqqa, 65% of city seized by Kurdish forces

[AlMasdar] On Sunday, the YPG (People’s Protection Units) released a full statement covering the battle for Raqqa where heavy clashes continue day and night.

According to the YPG (main military branch of the Syrian Democratic Forces) press statement, some 65% of Raqqa’s provincial capital has been ‘liberated’ while 2,000 hostages were freed from ISIS captivity over the past month.

On the battlefield, a total of nine districts were wrestled from Islamic State combattants in the month of August alone.

In the southern suburbs, the Nazlat Shehade, Hisham Bin Abdulmelik and Old Raqqa neighborhoods have been captured. To the west, the SDF has imposed full control over the Al-Karim and Al-Diriyah districts. The largest advance was nevertheless secured on the eastern axis where the Mehdi, Al-Rafqa, Mansur and Reshid districts have been brought under Kurdish control. Overnight today, the SDF also captured the Moroor district. Effectively, Kurdish forces are now in control of 14 of out the city’s 23 suburbs.

A pincer offensive along the Euphrates River has notably had YPG assault units meet up on the southern flank, thereby pushing ISIS towards rearguard areas in the densely populated city centre.

Since the battle begin, a total of 1,244 Islamic State members have been killed if one is to believe the YPG. Just three prisoners-of-war were taken by Kurdish troops while 28 ISIS suicide bombers were neutralized in the month of August.

In comparison, the YPG admitted to only 101 deaths in its own ranks due to phase five of the Euphrates Wrath offensive. Not long ago, ISIS indicated it had killed over 1,000 YPG/SDF/PKK fighters in the three-month battle.

14 civilians killed in US airstrikes on Raqqah in Syria

[Iran Press TV] The US-led coalition allegedly battling terrorism in Syria has killed at least 14 civilians in Arclight airstrikes on Raqqah.

According to Syria's official news agency, SANA, US warplanes carried out raids on the city’s al-Naim region on Monday, claiming that they were targeting members of the ISIS terrorist group.

The raids also resulted in severe damage to civilians and the city’s infrastructure.

Last month, Amnesia Amnesty International released a report confirming that the US operations in Raqqah were greatly endangering civilians.

Earlier in the month, the US-led coalition acknowledged that it had killed almost 700 civilians since it commenced its aerial bombardment campaign three years ago.

Residents in Hawija lynch ISIS Big Turbans in Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Several Islamic State leaders, including deputy chief in charge of the militants affairs, were killed in southwestern Kirkuk, a local source was quoted saying.

Speaking to Baghdad Today on Monday, the source said, “several residents from Hawija, southwestern Kirkuk, attacked militants gathering inside a house in al-Askari district in the town.”

“The attack left four leaders, including deputy chief in charge of the militants affairs in Hawija,” the source, who preferred anonymity, added.

This came after millions of messages were airdropped by Iraqi jets over the past few days in Hawija, the source said. “Most of the residents in central Hawija remained away from IS gatherings, despite being forced to stay near.”

In related news, another local source told AlSumaria News that the militant group imposed partial curfew in the town after attacking house of the leader in charge of the group’s security affairs.

“IS imposed partial curfew in some of the eastern districts in Hawija in the wake of an attack by a hand grenade against house of the group’s security affairs chief, which left one of his sons wounded,” the source said.

“Attacks against houses of the group’s leaders and militants have been on the rise in Hawija and its vicinity,” the source, who asked to be anonymous, added.

Hawija and other neighboring regions, west of Kirkuk, have been held by IS since mid-2014, when the group emerged to proclaim an Islamic “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria. The group executed dozens of civilians and security members there, forcing thousands to flee homes.

On Saturday, further reinforcements from the Federal Police were sent from Baghdad to the town, as the military command declared last week, the end of operations in Tal Afar, the militants’ last haven west of Nineveh, and the approach of the launch of offensives for Hawija.
