Last 'Fast And Furious' Suspect Arrested For Murder Of Border Patrol Agent
[DAILYWIRE] On Monday, Jesus Rosario Favela-Astorga, the last Mexican "rip crew" runaway entangled in the Obama Administration's Operation Fast and Furious, was charged with first-degree murder of border patrol agent Brian Terry, who was on killed December 14, 2010.

"The arrest of Favela Astorga resulted from the unwavering commitment of the United States and our law enforcement partners in Mexico to bring to justice those responsible for the murder of Agent Brian Terry, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving his country," read a statement from acting U.S. Attorney Alana Robinson.

The weapons used to murder Terry were found to be tied to Fast and Furious, an ATF operation gone bad wherein criminals were permitted to buy guns with the intent to eventually track such weapons when they made their way to Mexican drug lords. As noted by PJ Media, the plot to arm criminals backfired:

Instead, the ATF lost control of more than 1,400 out of the 2,000 guns they allowed smugglers to purchase. Two of the Fast and Furious guns were found at the scene of Brian Terry's death. Ostorio-Arellanes and Favela-Astorga were the two remaining members of a five-man cartel "rip crew" ‐ a group of bandidos who roam the desert along the U.S./Mexico border to rob drug smugglers of their loads, steal cash from illegal immigrants colonists, and sexually assault women.

Death toll in Afghan suicide attacks rises to 80: Officials
Follow up on this report from yesterday.
[AlAhram] The corpse count from two suicide and gun attacks on Afghan cops in southeast Afghanistan has risen to 80 with nearly 300 maimed, officials said Wednesday, in the bloodiest day in the country in almost five months.

The deadliest of Tuesday's assaults was on a police compound in the city of Gardez in Paktia province where Talibs disguised as police detonated three explosive-packed vehicles -- including a truck and a Humvee -- that cleared the way for 11 button men to enter.

At least 60 people, including Paktia police chief Toryalai Abdyani and civilians waiting to collect documents, were killed in the blasts and ensuing battle that lasted around five hours, Gardez deputy director of health Hedayatullah Hamidi told AFP.

Some 236 people were also maimed in the assault, he added.

"The first checkpoint for the compound was blown up by a truck bomb. Two other vehicles then entered the compound -- one detonated near the second checkpoint and the other rammed into the police chief's office that killed the police chief and his bodyguards," said Paktia governor front man Abdullah Hasrat.

The bully boyz had been wearing police uniforms and carrying fake police identification, Hasrat said -- a common tactic used by murderous Moslems to gain entry to government and security installations.

Police front man Sardar Wali Tabasum said two members of the security forces had been placed in durance vile
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
in connection with the attack, suggesting the assailants had insider help.

"We think the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
took these vehicles (a Humvee and a police pickup truck) when Jani Khel district fell to them in August," Tabasum told AFP. Jani Khel is about 50 kilometres (30 miles) east of Gardez.

In the second attack in the neighbouring province of Ghazni, some 100 kilometres west of Gardez, the official corpse count was lowered to 20, including 15 members of the security forces and five civilians, Ghazni governor front man Haref Noori told AFP.

The number of maimed stood at 46.

That assault followed a similar pattern involving murderous Moslems detonating an explosives-laden Humvee near a police headquarters then storming the building, Noori said. Six attackers were killed.

An earlier toll had put the number of dead at 30 with 10 injured.

It was the deadliest day in Afghanistan since May 31 when a truck packed with 1,500 kilogrammes of explosives detonated in the diplomatic quarter of the capital Kabul, killing around 150 and wounding hundreds more, mostly civilians.

Kabul police foiled an even larger truck bomb on Saturday -- 2,700 kilogrammes of explosives stashed under boxes of tomatoes -- that would have caused carnage had it went kaboom!.

Less than two days later authorities seized a car driving towards Kabul that was carrying 300 kilogrammes of explosives.

Dozens said to be the cost in 2 US airstrikes against ISIS positions in Yemen
Aden, London – US forces killed dozens of ISIS militants in a strike on two ISIS training camps, Oct. 16, in al-Bayda governorate, center of Yemen. However, security officials and locals said the strike targeted militants belonging to al-Qaeda and not ISIS terrorist group.

US Central Command announced that its forces raided two ISIS camps used to train militants to conduct terror attacks using AK-47s, machine guns, rocket-propelled grenade launchers and endurance training which resulted in disrupting the organization’s attempts to train new fighters.

Strikes against ISIS targets disrupt and destroy militants’ attack-plotting efforts, leadership networks, and freedom of maneuver within the region, according to Central Command.

“In coordination with the government of Yemen, US forces are supporting ongoing counter-terrorism operations in Yemen against ISIS and AQAP to degrade the groups’ ability to coordinate external terror attacks and limit their ability to hold territory seized from the legitimate government of Yemen,” reiterated the Command.

Local eyewitnesses told Reuters that tribal leaders were not allowed near the area in Bayda out of fear of another strike.

Locals reported that the two camps were named after two ISIS leaders who were killed during a US airstrike last summer: ISIS leader in Yemen Abu Bilal al-Harbi and ISIS spokesperson Abu Mohamemd al-Adnani.

A Yemeni security official stated that five al-Qaeda militants were killed in an airstrike believed to be done by the US forces. He explained that 12 raids targeted Qaeda sites in al-Abal and Yekla areas in Ould Rabieh district of Bayda governorate which is considered the organization’s stronghold in the country.

Locals told Asharq al-Awsat that the raid happened after three days of intense drones= hovering above the area, adding that it still wasn’t clear how many militants were killed or injured because people were afraid to approach the area as US aircraft hovered over for hours.

US drones continue to target militants suspected of belonging to terrorist organizations in Yemen’s center. On October 8, US drones killed five ISIS militants northwest of Maerib.

Since January, US intensified its raids on Yemen-based al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) with over 100 strikes on Bayda, Shabwa, Maerib, Hadramout, and Abyen.

According to statistics, over 120 militants were killed during those raids including senior commanders.

Yemeni army captures some areas of Shabwa
Aden – The Yemeni national army regained control over new strategic locations in Shabwa, southern Yemen, during the last 24 hours of fighting against the Houthi and Saleh militias as intense air raids by the Saudi-led coalition to support the legitimacy continued.

Army spokesman Major General Mutlaq al-Maaroufi told Asharq Al-Awsat that the army had regained control of al-Akda, Al-Abara and Abdul Rahman strongholds in Osailan after bloody clashes with the militias, hours after the gunmen took control of these areas.

The militia withdrew from these areas before the army intensified its targeting and siege, Maaroufi said.

The Saudi-led coalition warplanes mounted an attack on gatherings of militias in Osailan, resulting in many casualties.

Maaroufi said the army had a new plan to impose its control over the militia-controlled Beihan district, following the new military changes to the command of the 19th Brigade.

Local sources told Asharq Al-Awsat that Houthis are sending reinforcements for their troops in the border areas between Beihan and Osailan.

For his part, activist Ahmed al-Mus’abi told Asharq Al-Awsat that Houthi militias are carrying out mass abductions and arrests and are storming many houses in Beihan.

He said that during the past two days, the militia had kidnapped dozens of people, including children amid the continued suffocating siege on the district.

In other field developments, field sources in the northwestern Hajjah governorate said that the artillery of the joint forces continued its heavy shelling of militia positions in Hayran and Hard districts.

In the past 24 hours, the sources estimated that the forces had launched more than 90 artillery shells.

Arab coalition fighters continued their air raids on militia positions, about two kilometers from the entrance of the Midi district, amid continuing heavy overflights along the border areas.

Powerful Explosion Rocks Swedish Police Station
[An Nahar] A powerful kaboom blew out the entrance to a cop shoppe in the southern Swedish city of Helsingborg early Wednesday, an attack authorities linked to their fight against organized crime.

The kaboom occurred just after midnight in the city center, which is home to around 100,000 people.

Prime Minister Stefan Lofven called it "an attack against our democracy" and urged authorities to "step up the fight against serious crime."

The blast, heard from as far away as 20 kilometers (12 miles), caused no injuries but serious material damage. The cop shoppe entrance was completely destroyed, with dozens of windows smashed.

Police sources quoted by daily Aftonbladet said several kilos (pounds) of explosives were used.

The head of the local police, Patric Heimbrand, told news hounds that Sherlocks were working on the presumption that "criminal circles" were behind the attack. He said police work against gangs was paying off and likely causing "irritation".

Explosives are often used by organized crime rings in Sweden, especially in the south where settling of scores and intimidation are frequent among narcos.

Police and judges are also regularly targeted.

On November 30, 2014, a blast damaged a building in the southern city of Malmo that housed police, prosecutors, a courthouse and penitentiary administration.

Heavily armed coppers were stationed outside those buildings on Wednesday.

Although the Nordic nation has a relatively low crime rate compared to the rest of Europe, physical violence against coppers has surged. In 2016, it rose by 65 percent with 86 cases reported, according to government figures.

Iraqi Army Retakes Almost all Disputed Areas from Kurds
[An Nahar] Iraqi government forces said Wednesday they had achieved their objectives in a lightning operation that saw them sweep through disputed Kurdish-held territory in a punishing riposte to an independence vote last month.

On Monday and Tuesday, federal troops and allied militia retook the northern province of Kirkuk and its lucrative oil fields, as well as formerly Kurdish-held areas of Nineveh and Diyala provinces.

The largely bloodless operation dealt a body blow to the finances of the autonomous Kurdish region, which had derived much of its revenues from exports of Kirkuk oil, and left Kurds in shock and disbelief just weeks after the nationalist fervour of the referendum.

Kurdish claims to the lost territories have long been a cherished national cause and their abandonment -- almost without a fight -- triggered recriminations against the Kurdish leadership.

Kurdish forces are now largely confined to their longstanding three-province autonomous region in the north and have lost nearly all of the territory they had taken since the US-led invasion of 2003, some of it in deadly fighting with the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group.

"Security has been restored in sectors of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
including Dibis, al-Multaqa, and the Khabbaz and Bai Hassan North and South oil fields," the federal government's Joint Operations Command (JOV) said.

"Forces have been redeployed and have retaken control of Khanaqin and Jalawla in Diyala province, as well as Makhmur, Bashiqa, djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
dam, Sinjar and other areas in the Nineveh plains."

French geographer and Kurdistan specialist Cyril Roussel said that in the space of 48 hours, virtually all of the disputed territories held by Kurds had been brought back under federal control.

"The Kurds have lost almost all of the 23,000 square kilometres (8,900 square miles) that they had acquired since 2003," Roussel told AFP.

"All that remains in their hands is between 5,000 and 6,000 square kilometres (1,930 and 2,300 square miles) in Nineveh province and the Kupri district of Kirkuk province.

"That's virtually a return to the Green Line -- that is the three provinces of autonomous Kurdistan."

JOC front man Brigadier General Yahya Rasool hinted that federal forces could yet be deployed to the remaining pockets of disputed territory still in Kurdish hands.

"It's not a military operation but the redeployment of forces to all areas to enforce the law," Rasool told AFP. "Further communiques will follow."

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Tuesday that the September 25 vote for Kurdish independence was now "a thing of the past".

"Central authority must be imposed everywhere in Iraq," he said.

- Lion's share of oil exports retaken -
In Kirkuk province, the Kurds now hold just a single oil field -- the Khurmala field, which produces barely 10,000 barrels per day of low quality heavy crude.

The field had been in Kurdish hands since 2008 and was not a target of this week's operation.

But all five of the fields that the Kurds had taken since 2014 and were the source of the lion's share of the autonomous region's oil exports were retaken by the federal government.

IDF raids Palestinian media companies suspected of incitement
[Ynet] Israeli security forces raid West Bank offices of 8 Paleostinian media, production companies working with Hamas and Islamic Jihad-affiliated TV channels; equipment was impounded and two suspects nabbed during raid; channels‐based in Gazoo, Leb‐will continue broadcasting.

IDF and Shin Bet forces raided eight media and production companies providing services to Paleostinian television channels affiliated with Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, and Islamic Jihad

Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...

on suspicion of incitement.

The IDF served closure orders to several companies, including Pal Media, Ram Sat and Trans Media in Nablus, Hebron and Ramallah. During the raid, forces also entered the offices of the Paleostinian television channels at the buildings owned by the media companies.

The companies provided services for, among others, Hamas's al-Quds and al-Aqsa channels and the Paleostine al-Youm channel affiliated with Islamic Jihad. The three aforementioned channels broadcast from Gazoo and Leb and are considered very popular among Paleostinians both in Gazoo and the West Bank.

The channels did not cease operations, however, as they are based in Gazoo and Leb. The purpose of the raid was to merely shut down their physical presence in the West Bank.

Thus, in a joint IDF-Shin Bet-Civil Administration operation, forces raided Paleostinian media outlets and production companies suspected of disseminating and broadcasting inciteful materials encouraging terrorism.

The IDF noted this operation was part of an extended thwarting effort, as part of which security forces carry out operations against all components of terrorism, including incitement.

"Security forces will continue working against incitement to terrorism out of the understanding it is a direct cause of terrorist attacks, which are inspired by it, and ground-level support of terrorism," the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said.

On a related matter, IDF, Shin Bet and Border Police forces arrested 18 wanted Paleostinian suspects, 15 of whom were arrested on suspicion of involvement in street-level terrorist activity and violent rioting aimed against both civilians and security forces.

Palestinian Shot While Trying to Stab Israeli Troops in W.Bank
[An Nahar] A Paleostinian ran towards Israeli troops while brandishing a knife in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday and soldiers shot and maimed him, the military said.

"An assailant armed with a knife ran towards troops adjacent to the Gush Etzion junction," an army statement said.

"In response to the immediate threat, soldiers fired shots towards the suspect. Subsequently, the suspect was injured and taken to hospital for medical treatment," it said.

A military spokeswoman told AFP that the attacker was a Paleostinian and that no soldiers were maimed.

Israeli media said the man was moderately to seriously maimed.

The Gush Etzion junction is a busy intersection near a large bloc of Israeli settlements in the southern West Bank and the scene of repeated attacks.

A wave of unrest that erupted in October 2015 has claimed the lives of at least 295 Paleostinians or Arab Israelis, 51 Israelis, two Americans, two Jordanians, an Eritrea

The last fatal incident was the October 4 stabbing of Israeli settler Reuven Schmerling, 70, in what the Shin Bet security service said was "a terrorist attack".

as suspects.

The violence, however, has largely subsided in recent months.

Israeli authorities say most of the Paleostinians killed were carrying out knife, gun or car-ramming attacks.

Others were rubbed out in protests and festivities, while some were killed in Israeli air strikes on the Gazoo Strip.
Ynet adds:
IDF forces raided the house of the terrorist from Hebron who tried to carry out a stabbing attack near Gush Etzion junction earlier today.

A top senior Syrian commander successfully locates landmine
[Telegraph] A top senior Syrian commander and one of President Bashar al-Assad’s most trusted generals has been killed during an operation against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil).

Brig Gen Issam Zahreddine, a field commander in the elite Republican Guard, died after a convoy he was travelling in hit a landmine on Wednesday morning as they drove through Hawija Saqr near Deir Ezzor province.

Zahreddine, who was in his late 50s and instantly recognisable by his full grey beard, had been leading 7,000 troops in the battle to retake the eastern city of Deir Ezzor from the jihadists.

He also led government offensives against armed opposition in the central Homs province and near the capital, Damascus, in the earlier days of the conflict.

Hezbollah claims to have captured 3 Mossad agents
[Ynet] The Lebanese terrorist organization publishes photographs, confessions of three supposed agents who work for Israeli Mossad, whose mission was to gather information on political figures in Leb, as well as on military sites in Leb and Syria.

Leb-based terrorist group Hezbollah claimed on Monday that Lebanese security forces have detained three "agents on behalf of Israel," allegedly recruited by the Mossad. Hezbollah-affiliated al-Manar television network broke the news, while the pictures and alleged confessions of the three men were published on the internet. The three's arrests were published last week in the al-Akhbar newspaper, which is also affiliated with the organization.

According to reports, the three were members of a spy cell that operated on behalf of Israel in the Mount Leb region. The members of the captured cell are reportedly from Leb. According to al-Akhbar, the cell's key operative instructing its members from afar was a Lebanese citizen who is currently in Israel.

According to the al-Manar network, the three are Karem Akram Idris, Kamal Ajud Hassan and Abbas Mustafa Salameh. Reports state that Hassan had admitted to be in contact with several Israelis in '11, among others with the IDF's Spokesperson Unit's Arab Media Liaison, Maj. Avichai Adrei. In addition, he said that he was in contact with an agent named Yosef Fahar, and that his operative's code name was "cowboy."

Idris allegedly began working for the Mossad in '15. Among his other instructions, he was sent to photograph Hezbollah artillery stations in the city of al-Qusayr, located on the outskirts of Homs, where Hezbollah's involvement in the civil war in Syria and the Beqaa Valley had begun. He then sent his operative footage of the organization's positions in al-Qusayr and its deployment there.

Salameh, a teacher, reportedly began collaborating with the Mossad about two years ago, through social networks. He contacted Samar Araj, another supposed Mossad agent, now believed to be on the run, who asked Salameh to photograph several areas in southern Leb. Salameh was also reportedly asked by the cell's operative to provide him with information about military sites and places belonging to the Lebanese political parties.

Salameh, for his part, asked for financial support in order to start a civil revolt in Leb. He told the operative that he was capable of rallying one of the civilian groups to action in an effort to slander Hezbollah's reputation. He also tried to get closer to people who knew Hezbollah members in order to obtain information from them that he would pass on to his Israeli operative.

In an article published last week in the al-Akhbar newspaper, it was claimed that several people working for the Mossad in Leb have recently been placed in durance vile

, and that their interrogations revealed that most of their missions were related to reconnaissance on Hezbollah operatives and strongholds.
