Two heroin smugglers arrested from Kabul, Herat airports
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Two heroin smugglers have been enjugged

International airports before they manage to smuggle a large quantity of heroin abroad.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a statement said the two individuals were looking to smuggle more than three kilograms of heroin from the two airports.

The statement further added that the two men were arrested during the operations of the Afghan Border Police forces.

According to MoI, the Border Police forces have confiscated six kilo and three hundred eighty six grams of heroin during the operation.

The Ministry of Interior also added that the smugglers had placed the heroin inside pomegranates in a very professional manner.

435 civilians killed, wounded during the parliamentary elections in Afghanistan
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) released its latest report regarding the casualties inflicted on civilians during the two days of parliamentary elections on 20th and 21st of October.

According to UNAMA, the mission has recorded 435 civilian casualties during the two days of elections, including 56 people who were killed and 379 who were maimed.

The report by UNAMA revealed the majority of the casualties were inflicted during the first day of elections, on October 20th, during which 52 deaths and 339 injuries were reported.

This is the highest level of civilian harm compared to the four previous elections held in Afghanistan, UNAMA said, adding that the level of civilian harm linked to parliamentary elections is particularly high compared to previous election cycles when factoring into account the deaths and injuries resulting from electoral-related violence experienced over the preceding months during the voter registration and campaigning periods.

The report documents grave concerns over the numerous attacks by Anti-Government Elements, mainly Taliban
...Arabic for students...
, directed at civilian objects and populated civilian areas during the elections, including attacks against schools used as polling centres.

According to UNAMA, these attacks were mainly carried out using indirect-fire systems such as rockets, grenades and mortars, as well as improvised bombs (IEDs), all of which have indiscriminate effects.

"Indirect fire aimed in the direction of polling centres and other civilian areas, accounted for 38 per cent of civilian casualties, while non-suicide IEDs, mostly placed at or near polling centres, many of which were located in schools, clinics and mosques, accounted for 23 per cent. Shooting by Anti-Government Elements during ground fighting accounted for an additional 12 per cent of civilian casualties," the report added.

UNSMIL condemns attacks on medical facilities, banks and Sabrata
[Libya Herald] The United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has condemned the attacks on Libya’s medical facilities, banks and on Sabrata conducted by militias.

In separate statements released over the last few days, UNSMIL condemned the atack against Jalaa Hospital for Women and Childbirth in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, by militias.

It stated thst the attackers shot one doctor and threatened the safety and security of the medical staff at the hospital, resulting in a three-day halt of all non-emergency medical services.

Persistent violence against medical facilities, the statement continued, including shelling and bombing of hospitals, attacking and intimidating medical staff, looting of medicine, equipment and ambulances, and festivities inside hospitals ‐ all committed with impunity by gangs ‐ must stop immediately.

The UNSMIL statement said that the health system of Libya is already under-resourced and overstretched, and that these attacks are costing lives of innocent patients and staff alike.

It expressed its solidarity with the staff at Jalaa Hospital and medical personnel across Libya.

Furthermore, it warned the perpetrators that attacks against medical facilities and health care providers are prohibited under International Humanitarian Law and that those responsible must be brought to justice for what may amount to war crimes, under the Rome Statue of the International Criminal Court.

On another note, UNSMIL also condemned yesterday the recurring assaults on the Aman Bank, al-Siyahiya Branch in Tripoli, by a gang led by Izzeddin al-Daw, Mohammed al-Daw and Abdelkarim al-Rammah.

It stressed that physically attacking, harassing women and extorting them financially in return for bank services is immoral and illegal.

UNSMIL also condemned the Sunday attack on Sabrata. It warned against further escalation. Attacks on civilian facilities and endangering civilians, and in this case young children, are prohibited by the International Humanitarian Law, it reminded.

camp in Ngwuri Gana, Borno.and also neutralised several of the Death Eaters.

Director of Public Relations and Information of NAF, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, said this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja and said that the operation was carried out on Monday.

Daramola said that murderous Moslems were also neutralised in the operation, which was carried out on intelligence reports.

He disclosed that the reports indicated that the settlement was one of the locations from where the turbans launched attacks against troops’ positions and villages around Kumshe.

He said that Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions later confirmed the presence of a large number of murderous Moslems in the settlement.

"Accordingly, the ATF launched a coordinated attack on various targets within the settlement employing Alpha Jet and F-7Ni aircraft as well as Mi-35 attack helicopters leading to the destruction of BHT Communication Centre," he said.

The front man said that NAF, working in concert with surface forces, would sustain the tempo of operations with a view to destroying all remnants of the turbans in Borno.

Yemeni army closes in on Hodeidah port amid intense battles against Houthis
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Yemeni armed forces tightened their grip on the Houthi-held coastal city of Hodeidah on Tuesday, after they cordoned off the city from the southern, southwestern and eastern sides, leaving the militia only the north as an exit.

The National Army confirmed that the legitimate forces are on the outskirts of the port of Hodeidah and are only about five kilometers away, adding that dozens of militias surrendered themselves and lay down their weapons.

The Houthis are losing control of several areas in Hodeidah after a comprehensive military operation launched by the National Army and resistance forces was launched in recent days.

Bangladesh
Bangladesh police say top Islamic extremist shot dead
[DAWN] Bangladesh police on Tuesday said they had killed the chief of Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), an holy warrior group accused of murdering secular activists and inspiring a cafe siege that killed 22 people.

Khorshed Alam, described as the "emir" of Bangladesh's deadliest Islamist outfit, was bumped off early on Tuesday morning in the northern town of Shibganj, police front man Sonaton Chokraborty said.

"He died before we could bring him to hospital," Chokraborty told AFP of the 38-year-old myrmidon.

Police say Alam emerged after JMB's old guard was weakened by the execution of its former commander Sheikh Abdur Rahman, and five other top chiefs, in March 2007.

He is accused of criminal masterminding a number of attacks across Moslem-majority Bangladesh, including most recently the murder of atheist writer and publisher Shahzahan Bachchu in the central district of Munshiganj in June.

He also spearheaded a daring ambush on a prison van in 2014 that allowed two senior JMB foot soldiers to escape, police said.

In recent years, a splinter faction inspired by JMB's earlier leadership
...known cleverly as “New Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB)”...
grabbed headlines after five of its young members stormed an upmarket Dhaka cafe in July 2016 and murdered 22 people, including 18 foreigners.

Bangladesh police launched a massive crackdown on bandidos bandidos Death Eaters since the cafe siege, killing more than 80 suspected Islamists and arresting hundreds more.

New Mass Grave Found in Mexico
[AnNahar] Mexican authorities began looking for bodies Monday at a new mass grave in the violent state of Veracruz, where hundreds of corpses have been found at similar sites in recent years.

The Solectio collective, a group of mothers searching for their missing children, said it learned about the site from an anonymous tip.

"The information we have is that there could be 400 to 500 bodies," said Rosalia Castro Toss, the group's spokeswoman.

"It was a death camp, or worse."

The site is located about five kilometers (three miles) from another mass grave, the Colinas de Santa Fe, where 296 bodies have been found so far.

Home to one of Mexico's largest ports, Veracruz is the scene of bloody pie fights between the rival narco mobs Jalisco New Generation and Los Zetas.

Corrupt officials are accused of colluding with the cartels during the administration of placed in durance vile

ex-governor Javier Duarte.

A string of top security officials face charges of running police death squads that took out their enemies during Duarte's administration (2010-2016).

Mexico registered a record 28,711 murders last year, in violence driven mainly by its powerful narco mobs.

Since 2006, when the government deployed the army to fight drug trafficking, more than 200,000 people have been murdered. Another 30,000 are missing.

Terrorist found guilty in Port Authority bombing
[NYPOST] The Bangladeshi immigrant who blew up a pipe bomb in a crowded pedestrian tunnel under Times Square was convicted on all counts Tuesday afternoon ‐ then blamed his failed attack on President Trump.

"I was angry with Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
. He said he would bomb the Middle East," Akayed Ullah
...the very connected lone wolf who belonged to the Al Qaeda-linked Masjid Nur al-Islam mosque in Brooklyn...
said after jurors left the courtroom.

Ullah, 28, also denied trying to kill commuters for ISIS, as he confessed to an NYPD detective following the Dec. 11 blast.

"I didn’t do it for ISIS group," he said.

"They try to put me in a group which I don’t support."
Given his mosque of choice, quite possibly he did it for Al Qaeda or another jihadi group. Goodness knows there are plenty to choose from.
Manhattan federal Judge Richard Sullivan repeatedly interrupted Ullah as the Brooklyn resident blurted out his remarks.

"I don’t think right now is the time for a statement," Sullivan told him, adding that he could say his piece at his April 5 sentencing.

He faces up to life in prison.

Ullah was the only person injured when the bomb strapped to his body went kaboom! in an underground walkway connecting the city’s busiest subway station and the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
That just says he is an incompetent jihadi, not that he isn’t a jihadi.
The eight-woman, four-man jury found Ullah guilty of six felonies, including using a weapon of mass destruction and supporting a foreign terrorist organization.

The evidence against him included surveillance video that shows him falling to the floor following the kaboom.

Ullah’s defense lawyers admitted during the one-week trial that he detonated the device but claimed he did it to kill himself ‐ not others.
The conclusion does not follow from the evidence — there are much easier and more effective ways to kill oneself if that is the goal.
They also argued ‐ in an effort to avoid a potential life sentence ‐ that he wasn’t motivated by ISIS, but rather was trying to protest American policies that he felt were hurting Moslems.
And where did he get the idea that this was an effective way to accomplish that?

Palestinian woman pulls scissors on officers, is shot – police
[IsraelTimes] Attacker subdued, moderately maimed when trying to attack border police near settlement of Kfar Adumim; no injuries to security forces

A Paleostinian woman who ran at Border Police officers with a pair of scissors at a West Bank gas station was shot by security forces at the scene, police said Tuesday.

The officers were in the process of carrying out a security check on the woman at the Sonol company gas station near the West Bank settlement of Kfar Adumim, when she "pulled out a sharp object with which she tried to stab the servicemen," police said in a statement.

They later said the object was scissors.

Security forces opened fire and "neutralized" the woman, the statement said. There were no injuries to Israeli forces.

The woman was moderately maimed and was taken to the nearby Mount Scopus Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem for treatment, police said in a subsequent statement.

Officers were called to the scene after the woman tried to hide in a falafel restaurant at the gas station and refused to leave the premises, the statement said.

She attempted to attack the officers with the scissors when they tried to detain her, and was shot.

Police said officers also found a knife in the woman’s handbag.

She was identified as a 37-year-old resident of the nearby Paleostinian town of Yatta.

Kfar Adumim lies close to the Israeli West Bank city of Ma’ale Adumim, east of the capital.

The attack came a day after a Paleostinian man attempted to stab an Israeli soldier near the West Bank city of Hebron and was shot by soldiers, according to the military.

The IDF said the attempted stabbing Monday took place at Elias Junction at the entrance to the Kiryat Arba settlement, and said it was investigating the incident.

Palestinians walking with hunting rifle arrested near settlement

[IsraelTimes] IDF soldiers arrest three Paleostinians ‐ one of them armed with a hunting rifle ‐ who were walking near the Mevo Dotan settlement in the northern West Bank, the army says.

The Paleostinian suspects have been handed over to the Shin Bet security service for questioning.

It is illegal for Paleostinians to own guns in the West Bank, except for those who require them for work purposes.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Over 15 Syrian soldiers killed, wounded in latest attacks by jihadist rebels
[ALMASDARNEWS] A number of soldiers from the Syrian military were killed or maimed during the fierce festivities in northwestern Syria on Tuesday.

According to a military source in the city of Mhardeh, over 15 soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and National Defense Forces (NDF) were either killed or maimed in the Hama, Idlib, and Latakia provinces.

The majority of the Syrian military’s casualties came when the jihadist rebels in the al-Ghaab Plain fired a barrage of missiles and artillery shells towards the government positions near the town of Joureen.

In response to this powerful attack by the jihadist rebels, the Syrian Arab Army responded with a barrage of surface-to-surface missiles towards the hard boy-held towns of Ziyara and Tal Wasit.

The Syrian Arab Army expanded their assault to the towns of al-Lataminah and Lahaya shortly after their attack on the jihadist positions in the al-Ghaab Plain.

With the jihadist rebels refusing to leave the Idlib buffer zone, the Syrian Arab Army finds themselves in a tough bind.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
has repeatedly stated that they will not allow the Syrian Army to push into the Idlib province, despite the fact that they agreed to force the jihadist rebels to withdraw from the designated demilitarized zones.

The Syrian Army is now awaiting directions from their Russian and Iranian partners, who are their intermediary with the Ottoman Turkish regime.

Iran sentences 24 protestors, including two women
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iran’s judiciary convicted at least 24 protesters, including two women, on vaguely defined national security charges, Human Rights Watch said today.

Their prison sentences ranged from six months to six years.

They were among more than 50 people tossed in the slammer
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
on August 2 during a protest in Tehran about deteriorating economic conditions and corruption.

Authorities also arrested a human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
lawyer who had been convicted to three years in prison for reporting a protester’s death in detention on October 28.

"Iranian government officials repeatedly advertise to the world that the repeated protests in the country signal that there are real freedoms in Iran, while these same protestors languish in prison for years," said Michael Page, deputy Middle East director at Human Rights Watch.

"Prosecuting peaceful protesters will only add fuel to Iranians’ boiling frustration and discontent with the situation."

Three sources with close knowledge of the protesters’ cases told Human Rights Watch that prosecutors charged them with "assembly and collusion against national security" due to "participating in a protest without a permit that disrupted public order."

In the sentencing of at least two people, including Saba Kordafshari, 19, the evidence prosecutors presented was solely their social media posts reporting on the protest.

Two sources reported to HRW that prosecutors and prison officials denied the detainees access to a lawyer throughout the investigation and the trial and pressured them to plead guilty.

Iranian law restricts the rights of detainees charged with national security crimes to see a lawyer during the investigation period.
