[Washington Examiner] The senseless attack on defenseless youth at a bar in Thousand Oaks, Calif., has shocked the nation, and everyone is grasping for solutions.
In Israel, where the threat to our youth is mainly from Islamic terrorists, rather than from random crime and sick individuals, we have commonsense solutions to the problem of shooting attacks in bars, schools, and other public places, and those principles can be applied in America. The basic idea is to keep the guns in the hands of the good, stable, well-trained people, and only of those who need them to protect themselves or others.
For starters, not everyone can get a gun license in Israel. And there are stringent background checks that can sometimes take weeks or months to investigate and process. Secondly, every school and most public buildings, restaurants, and bars have at least one trained armed guard and sometimes several.
In addition, virtually every public space has armed citizens, all licensed after extensive background checks, with many being very well-trained in their capacity as members of local emergency response teams. Furthermore, many schools and other public places also have security cameras.
Last, but not least, remember that violent attacks really do not occur randomly. Just as terrorism happens for a reason, however sick and unjustified, so too with senseless violence, which usually occurs when there is a vacuum of values.
When there is an absence of solid family and spiritual structure in the home and in schools to provide those values, the ensuing loneliness, chaos, and anger are often given safe passage, ultimately leading to such horrible, violent attacks.

We do too, grom. The problem is, certain people in law enforcement continually do nothing when they have red flags waving in their faces. In almost all of these cases, we find out after the fact that law enforcement agencies knew about these people and did nothing.

I've said it before, put your tin foil hat on, it's almost like somebody wants these things to happen. The obvious reason, of course, would be to get an excuse for repeal of the Second Amendment. Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.
I was amazed that nobody lost their jobs after the Parkland High shooting because there were so many obvious failures. That church shooting in Texas where the Air Force failed to enter a known felon into the federal database for background checks is another example. Did anybody lose their job for that? I never heard about it if they did.

[Wash Times] A white theater director defended Saturday his decision to identify as black, a case that has sparked an identity-politics debate in Great Britain after he received a publicly funded grant intended for minority artists.
Anthony Ekundayo Lennon, a director for the black-led Talawa Theatre Company in London, said he had "no doubt that I have some African ancestry" after coming under fire for winning an Arts Council England award meant for "theatre practitioners of colour."
"I will not allow anyone who can’t accept or understand my life to be relevant to my existence," said Mr. Lennon in an op-ed for the [U.K.] Guardian.
His critics, including some British theater figures, accused him of misappropriating a racial identity and hijacking public funds meant to support minority thespians after the [U.K.] Sunday Times broke the story Sunday.
Actress Kelechi Okafor tweeted Saturday that, "However ’black’ you might ’feel’ it is unethical and immoral to access funding that is specifically meant for actual black people," adding that "I’m shocked that people are actually entertaining this nonsense."
"The leap to claiming blackness for himself is almost breathtaking," said Paula Akban, an advocate for black women, in a Monday [U.K.] Independent column. "Not only has Lennon chosen to wear black identity like a costume, he has actively chosen to take up space and pilfer resources that were never meant for him."
Mr. Lennon, 53, who changed his middle name from David, said that he began identifying as "mixed heritage" as a boy after being frequently mistaken for black.
He said he had to use an Afro comb growing up because "my mum couldn’t manage my hair." One of his brothers has similar physical traits, he said, and neighbors would "arrive on the doorstep to gawp at us."
[Business Insider] President Donald Trump wants stop giving Puerto Rico federal funding for Hurricane Maria recovery, according to a report from Axios.
According to the report, White House officials told congressional leadership that Trump claimed without evidence that Puerto Rico's government is using the disaster relief money to pay off debt.
Trump can't take disaster funds back that he's already given to Puerto Rico or set aside by Congress, but he reportedly could refuse to sign any future spending bills, according to Axios.
The report comes after a Wall Street Journal article said Puerto Rico bond prices had soared "after the federal oversight board that runs the US territory's finances released a revised fiscal plan that raises expectations for disaster funding and economic growth."

"after the federal oversight board that runs the US territory's finances released a revised fiscal plan that raises expectations for disaster funding and economic growth."
Bond prices are tied to this? Disaster relief has now become big business? Yes, shutting the $$$ off sometime this afternoon would be very prudent.

Dangerous game playing with withholding disaster releaf, everyone will think what would happen if a disaster hit my area and it will be painfully easy to manipulate. Better to start an FBI investigation into a person or two suspected of diverting the money.
That's very funny stuff, I don't care who you are...

I'm with rjschwarz on this one. Optics are everything in politics, and Mr. Trump must now swim in that, er, sea.
Get some evidence or, at least, an unimpeachable sworn statement.
I'd rather Mr. Trump appoint a temporary governor with military arrest powers as backup until PR can get "legit," but, irrespective of intent, the cure would appear worse than the disease.
[The Blaze] In the Georgia gubernatorial race, Republican Secretary of State Brian Kemp is facing Democrat Stacey Abrams, and has held the lead in vote totals so far. But on Twitter on Saturday, Georgia’s Democratic Party announced they had discovered "thousands of new *absentee*, *early*, and *Election Day* votes," which had not been counted, and that are narrowing the gap.
The latest official count has Kemp ahead by over a percentage point. Republicans have maintained that there were not enough ballots left to be counted for Abrams to overtake. Democrats have argued that Kemp as Secretary of State has tainted the election results, to little challenge from the media, and are saying that Republicans are lying about the number of votes left to be counted.

They're not even trying to cover up the corruption of the process, aided by their propaganda arm in the Legacy Infortainment Enterprises. Power by any means necessary. We've become a banana republic.
[Townhall] At least Mayor Daley and the rest of the Chicago corruptocrats had the common decency to do their vote-thieving behind the doors of the local mortuaries. Today, in Florida and elsewhere, the Democrats are doing it right in front of our faces. In fact, they’re rubbing it in our faces.
Understand the truth.
Accept the truth.
Get woke.
The only thing they care about is their own power, they absolutely intend to steal every election they can, and everything they say is a lie.
When is the last time one of these "The Republican won oh wait looky here it’s a whole bunch of new votes that Lou found in the basement" scenarios ever turned out with a Republican gaining votes? Defying the laws of probability and common sense, never. If it wasn’t a fraud, once in a while the Republican would win. But he never, ever does. Hmmmm.
...They are not even trying to pretend this isn’t a giant plot to steal elections ‐ they’re just defaulting to "Well, you’re racist for wanting fair elections." The law says you have to announce the total number of votes you received shortly after the polls close? Rule of law, schmool of law, who cares what some judge says? That law makes it hard for new votes to be "found," so it’s racist somehow.
...Fighting is hard, which is why the GOP softies don’t like it. Yeah, the Dems will get covered for by the lying garbage pail kidz of the media. They already lie about us, so what else is new? Yeah, the Fredocons will howl. Let those betas cry. Yeah, the left will call us "racists," but they are going to do that anyway. When we fight, we can win. It’s time to stop letting our freedom be stolen by these lib fascist creeps. It’s time to get militant.

Link added. g(r)omgoru, you would make this exercise easier for the moderators if you would institute the habit of adding the name of your source in square brackets at the beginning of the text. We started doing this in response to Fred being hounded by Righthaven, but it has proved useful in tracking down forgotten URLs.
[The Federalist] Former President Barack Obama went on a campaign blitz for Democrats in the weeks leading up to the midterm election, but has little to show for his efforts. Candidates in four of the six battleground states he visited lost big races, and those who succeeded in the other two led comfortably in the polls before he showed up, with the exception of one gubernatorial race.
The press touted his campaign push, which began in his home state of Illinois and continued into the battlegrounds of Ohio, Florida, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Georgia, as well as some relatively safe blue states, including California, Pennsylvania, and New York.
The high-profile effort was atypical for a former president, and some Democratic candidates and operatives expressed concern ahead of the election that his presence in battleground states would merely rile up the Republican base and Trump supporters, or make the race about national politics to the disadvantage of the Democratic candidates in some races. Nevertheless, his spokeswoman promised an "aggressive" effort to turn out the Democrat vote in Senate, House, and gubernatorial races. Now that the votes are (mostly) counted, it seems the naysayers were right.

Everyone, or nearly everyone knew Bath House Barry was on the road again, stumping for the communists. Granted, he provided little help for the battleground states, but plenty of other voters pulled the lever for the dems.
What is it, cognitive dissonance? Have American voters decided large, invasive, socialist gov't is the way to go? Is it Trump hatred? Stuck on stupid? I just don't understand the motive.
[DAWN] IT’S very hard to find a single household of the Hazara ...a grouping of Dari-speaking people of Sino-Tibetan descent inhabiting Afghanistan and Pakistain. They are predominantly Shia Moslems and not particularly warlike, which makes them favored targets... community in Quetta that has not been victimised by assassination. It is a caged community, owing to their sect, in a state of captivity for the past 20 years. It is curious that a peace-loving, hardworking and progressive community has been subjected to systematic persecution.
Shia Hazaras are a Persian-speaking ethnicity of Mongolian decent who immigrated from Bamiyan

[AmericanThinker] Just days before the eightieth anniversary of Kristallnacht, when Nazis burned synagogues, looted Jewish homes and shops, and rounded up Jewish families for concentration camps, Tucker Carlson’s home was surrounded by Antifa thugs who pounded on his door (cracking it), terrifying his wife, uttered threats against him and his family and painted an anarchist symbol on his driveway while the DC police did nothing to these modern-day brownshirts.
...In several places in Arizona, Georgia, and Florida -- most obviously in Broward and Palm Beach -- Florida, election workers are racing to undo the results of a free election, undermining the very basis of our political system. And they are thumbing their noses at judicial efforts to halt the theft.

Saw this movie last night for the umpteenth time. This scene seems to contain a lesson that could be learned in how to deal with these situations...
