Afghan Taliban attacks intensify as US peace envoy returns
[AlAhram] The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
intensified attacks in a district heavily populated by minority Hazara
...a grouping of Dari-speaking people of Sino-Tibetan descent inhabiting Afghanistan and Pakistain. They are predominantly Shia Moslems and not particularly warlike, which makes them favored targets...
s Sunday, as US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad returned to the region as part of efforts to convince the group to end the 17-year war.

In pre-dawn fighting in Jaghori district in the southeastern province of Ghazni, turbans killed 15 civilians and 10 members of Afghanistan's elite special forces, provincial police front man Ahmad Khan Sirat told AFP.

Another six special forces and eight civilians were maimed, Sirat added.

The information could not be immediately verified by another source in the province where telecommunications are poor. A front man for the Afghan defence ministry in Kabul would not answer his phone.

Taliban front man Zabiullah Mujahid said in a WhatsApp message that 22 Afghan commandos had been killed and "a large number" maimed.

Fighting in the district has been ongoing since Wednesday, fanning fears that the violence could be rooted in ethnic or sectarian differences.

Kabul deployed special forces to the area on Thursday to reinforce local Hazara pro-government fighters, as the Taliban denied targeting "any specific race, ethnicity or sect".

The flare up in violence coincided with the return of Khalilzad to Afghanistan as he seeks to coordinate regional efforts to bring about peace in the war-torn country. Khalilzad met with President Ashraf Ghani

, where the Taliban has a political office.

A Taliban delegation met with Khalilzad in Doha in October to discuss ending the Afghan conflict. That was followed by a Russia-led international gathering in Moscow on Friday that included Taliban representatives.

The Afghan government boycotted the meeting, but the country's High Peace Council, which is responsible for reconciliation efforts with the krazed killers, sent a delegation.

The flurry of diplomatic efforts to kickstart peace talks comes as the Taliban make gains on the battlefield and cause record-high casualties among security forces. A recent US government watchdog report said Kabul's control of Afghanistan had slipped in recent months as local forces made little or no progress against the Taliban.

In a grim assessment of the war, the US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) cited NATO

Dozens killed in Afghanistan fighting as sectarian threat grows
[AlAhram] Fifteen Afghan civilians and 10 commandos sent to reinforce Shia militia forces fighting Taliban
...Arabic for students...
in the central province of Ghazni were killed on Sunday, officials said, as a days-long battle with threatening ethnic overtones continued.

The fighting in Jaghori district, an area inhabited mainly by Shia ethnic Hazara
...a grouping of Dari-speaking people of Sino-Tibetan descent inhabiting Afghanistan and Pakistain. They are predominantly Shia Moslems and not particularly warlike, which makes them favored targets...
s, has been going on since Wednesday, when Taliban fighters attacked the district and the government sent special forces units to back up local militia forces.

Police front man Ahmad Khan Sirat said six members of the security forces were maimed in addition to the 25 civilians and commandos who were killed.

The fighting took place as US special envoy Zakmay Khalilzad prepared for a fresh round of meetings aimed at bringing the Taliban to the negotiating table to try to find a political settlement to the decades-long war in Afghanistan.

Although Afghanistan has traditionally not suffered from the sectarian violence that has scarred Iraq or Syria, suicide kabooms on Shia targets in recent years have caused deepening anger among Hazaras, a mainly Shia minority.

The Taliban, a movement dominated by Sunni Moslem ethnic Pashtuns, does not have any openly sectarian agenda and deny targeting Shia but many Hazaras have blamed Pashtuns for the attacks on mosques and cultural centres.

Angered by what many see as official indifference, Hazaras have formed militia groups of their own, fuelling concern among some officials and Western diplomats at the potential for an upsurge in ethnic, sectarian violence.

Disputes over the balance of representation between Hazaras and Pashtuns, the two largest groups in Ghazni, led to the postponement of last month's parliamentary election in the province.

On the other side of the country, in the northern province of Baghlan, at least 14 members of the Afghan cops and non-combatants were killed and eight others were maimed in Taliban attacks, provincial governor Abdulhai Nemati said.

A front man for the Taliban, Zabihullah Mujahid in statements said killed 36 Afghan cops and captured one military base five security checkpoints in Ghazni and Baghlan provinces.

At least 16 killed in Taliban attack on army base in Baghlan
[Al Jazeera] At least 12 army soldiers were killed in a Taliban
...Arabic for students...
attack on Saturday on a small military base in Afghanistan's northern Baghlan province, officials said.

The Taliban left behind explosives that then killed four tribal elders who had come to help collect the soldiers' bodies, according to Afghan officials.

Safder Mohsini, head of the provincial council in Baghlan, said the group also kidnapped two soldiers and maimed three others in the attack.

He said Taliban fighters burned down the base before planting bombs around it.

The Taliban grabbed credit for the assault and said they seized ammunition from the base.

The group carries out near-daily attacks, mainly targeting Afghan cops stationed in rural outposts.

Taliban fighters have ramped up attacks on Afghan cops and government facilities in recent months, leaving troops thinly stretched throughout the country.

The latest phase of Afghanistan's decades-old war began in 2001, when the US-led troops overthrew the Taliban government in the wake of the September 11 attacks on the United States.

A US watchdog agency said last week that the Afghan government was struggling to recover control of districts lost to the Taliban while casualties among security forces had reached record levels.

Three Policemen Killed In Taliban Attack In Badakhshan
[ToloNews] Three coppers were killed In a clash between security forces and the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
in Faizabad city, the capital of Badakhshan province, on Friday night, local officials said Saturday.

According to officials the clash occurred in PD 6 of the city when a group of Taliban members attacked a security check post in the city.

Four other police soldiers were maimed in the clash, which lasted several hours. Officials said the Taliban then fled the area.

"Unfortunately, last night at about 10pm Taliban attacked and as a result three of our soldiers were killed and four others were maimed and one Talib was also killed," said Mohammad Tariq Ziapor Badakhshan’s police security chief.

Eyewitnesses said that Taliban attacked the check post through Spingul village.

"Taliban come down from the valley and ambushed a police Ranger and after the shooting fled back through the valley," said Zia an eyewitness.

"This is the weakness of the local officials who cannot take responsibility for the security of Faizabad; they must be held responsible and arrest the attackers," said Jawed Majidi Badakhshan provincial council member.

Local residents also raised their concerns over Taliban activity in Faizabad city.

"We do not sleep at night, every night there is an attack and shooting. If the Taliban can attack Faizabad city then soon they can take control of the districts," said Hanan a resident.

The attack came in the absence of top leadership in the province. The governor has reportedly been in Takhar for days, while the deputy governor is in China. The province has no police chief after the most recent one was dismissed.

Taliban confirms the attack on Faizabad.

Three Taliban militants blown up by own IED in Zabul province
Whoops!
[KhaamaPress] At least three Talibs were killed in an kaboom triggered by own Improvised Explosive Device in southern Zabul province of Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a statement said the incident took place on Saturday in Jaldak district of the province.

The statement further added that three Talibs were busy planting an improvised bomb on a roadside when the incident took place, leaving three of them dead.

The anti-government armed murderous Moslem groups including Talibs have not commented regarding the incident so far.

The Talibs and other holy warriors including ISIS often use improvised bomb as the weapon of their choice to target the security forces and government officials.

province.

The local officials confirmed that the suspects have been arrested by the security forces in Pashtun Zarghoon district.

Provincial Police Chief Gen. Aminullah Amar Khel confirmed the arrest of the individuals and said the detained suspects were also involved in the murder of two coppers.

He said the individuals had recently trained some residents of Herat and some other provinces including Ghor and Badghis for future terrorist attacks.

The anti-government armed Lion of Islam groups including Talibs have not commented in this regard so far.

Herat is among the relatively calm provinces in West of Afghanistan but the security situation in some remote districts of Herat has tanked during the recent years.

The Talibs are active in some remote districts of Herat and often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities.

According to officials from the school a number of NDS and police forces arrived at the school on Sunday morning and arrested students and teachers. They were taken to the local police HQ.

Security forces in Herat also confirmed the arrests. No details were given on exactly how many students or teachers were arrested.

Herat governor’s front man Jelani Farhad said that based on a court order, security forces took control of the school based on its links to the Fethullah Gülen

Afghan-Turk CAG Educational NGO issued a statement shortly after the arrests and condemned the move. They said it was against the constitution, civil law, criminal code and other applicable laws and international norms.

In February Afghanistan’s Ministry of Education (MoE) formally handed over the management of Afghan-Turk schools to the Ottoman Turkish government, defying calls by parents and students to keep the schools under Afghan control.

former officials from the Afghan-Turk schools have said the schools had nothing to do with politics and they only provide education to Afghan children.

According to some reports, the Ottoman Turkish government reportedly offered a number of incentives in exchange for taking control of these schools.

Egypt state gazette publishes names of 164 Al-Gamaa Al-Islamiya members placed on terrorism list
[AlAhram] Egypt’s official gazette published on Sunday the names of 164 members of the hard-line Islamist movement al-Gamaa al-Islamiya
...also in our files as Moslem Brotherhood-allied Jamaa al-Islamiya
...The Islamic Group. Sunni Islamist alignment in Lebanon. The group was founded in 1952 as the Leb branch of the Moslem Brüderbund. Its current leader is Faisal Mawlawi. The party has a military wing known as the al-Fajr Forces. Currently they have 1 seat in the Lebanese Parliament...
who were placed on a terrorism list by a Cairo criminal court on 28 October.

The court placed the group, which waged an armed insurgency in the 1990s but renounced violence more than a decade ago, on a "terrorist entities" list, and placed 164 of its members on the terrorism list for five years.

The list includes the group's leading members Assem Abdel-Maged,
...he once shared a prison cell with Al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri, and was jailed for 25 years for his part in the 1981 assassination of President Anwar El-Sadat. He was last seen living in exile in Qatar...
Mohammed El-Islambouly
... also known as Mohammed Showqi al-Islambouli, brother of Khalid al- Islambouli, the assassin of the late Egyptian president Anwar Sadat...
and Tarek El-Zomor.
...currently sheltered in Turkey and accused of leading and financing Ansar Beit al Maqdis/Wilayat Sinai (ISIS)...
The court also ordered that the funds of those added to the list be seized and managed by a special committee.

"These are judicial precautionary measures that seek to preserve, protect and [serve] the interest of the entire society," said the court.

The court's decision was based on a memo prepared by the High State Security Prosecution that says many leaders and members of al-Gamaa al-Islamiya "renounced their previous initiative to stop violence and declared their adherence to the ideology of the organization that justifies violent acts," and regard the president as an infidel for failing to abide by Islamic Sharia law, the official gazette said.

Al-Gamaa al-Islamiya was implicated in the 1981 liquidation of Egyptian President Anwar El-Sadat before they renounced violence more than a decade ago.
....in between they busied themselves with the 1997 Luxor temple massacre of 62 people, mostly foreign tourists...

during the group’s armed insurrection against the state in the 1990s.

Morsi, a leader of the Moslem Brüderbund group who was removed from office after a one-year rule, is now serving a 20-year sentence after being convicted for involvement in the killing of protesters during demonstrations that culminated in his ouster, and a 25-year jail term over spying for Qatar

Egyptian authorities banned the Brotherhood in 2013 and declared it a terrorist organization.
Al Arabiya adds:
The court said that the decision came after the disclosure of attempts by the leaders of the group to revive its terror activities, incitement against the state, recruitment of fighters from the governorates of impoverished Upper Egypt and its association with foreign parties.

Clashes Reach Residential Streets in Yemen's Hodeida
[An Nahar] Fighting for control of Yemen's rebel-held city of Hodeida reached residential streets on Sunday, as the Huthi snuffies mounted fierce resistance to government forces backed by Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, military sources said.

Troops entered residential streets in eastern Hodeida with the aim of "purging them of Lion of Islams," according to a pro-government military official.

Fears for civilian safety have been rising since the loyalist forces renewed an operation to take Hodeida, which has been under the control of Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis since 2014.

More than 400 combatants have been killed in 10 days of festivities in the city on Yemen's Red Sea coastline that is home to the impoverished country's most important port.

Hodeida is a vital lifeline for Yemenis across the war-torn country, as the majority of imports and humanitarian aid enter through its port.

The docks have been blockaded by the Saudi-led alliance since November 2017 over what the coalition says is arms smuggling from Iran to the Huthis. Tehran denies the charge.

Aid groups have urged warring parties to keep the port open.

"We cannot predict what will happen in the future, but at the moment there are no problems," Yahya Sharafeddine, deputy director of Hodeida port, told AFP.

Pro-government fighters moved into the neighborhood between the May 22 hospital -- the largest in Hodeida -- and Sanaa Road, which links the port city to inland Yemen.

Fighters clashed around the al-Waha (Oasis) Resort, closing in on a civilian district located south of the hospital and north of Sanaa Road.

European police smash ring smuggling Palestinians with ‘bogus asylum claims’
[IsraelTimes] Officers arrest 9 people in Spain and La Belle France accused of charging $9,000 per person to provide Paleostinians with faked versions of travel documents issued to refugees in Leb

Police in Spain and La Belle France have smashed a criminal ring suspected of smuggling hundreds of Paleostinians into Europe

nine people, including the suspected leader of the network, in the two countries as part of the operation carried out with European police agency Europol, a Spanish police statement said.

Police suspect that since January 2018 the group flew around 1,200 Paleostinians living in Middle Eastern countries via Bolivia to Madrid, where they would then make a "fraudulent asylum request."

"Instead of continuing with the administrative procedures related to their asylum request, they were transported by the organization to Belgium and Germany in minivans," the statement said.

The ring charged around 8,000 euros ($9,000) per person to provide them with fake travel documents and organize the trip, earning at least 9 million euros ($10.2 million) with the scheme.

Five people were arrested in Spain and four in La Belle France. Police said the group’s "main base of operations" was in the northern French city of Amiens.

Spanish police started their investigation after detecting an increase in the number of Paleostinians requesting asylum at Madrid airport.

The media bureau of the voluntary forces, better known by the Arabic name Hashd al-Sha’abi, announced in a statement on Sunday that their fellow fighters had engaged a group of ISIS Takfiris as they were trying to infiltrate into Syria, exchanging heavy gunfire with the terrorists.

The statement added that scores of the forces of Evil were killed and injured in the process.

Earlier in the day, a senior advisor to Hashd al-Sha’abi forces survived an liquidation attempt in the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad.

ISIS resurgence? Coalition confirms 55 ISIS members killed in 2 days in Iraq
[Rudaw] The US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS released a pair of statements detailing recent air strikes in northern Iraq have killed at least 55 ISIS members in a two-day span, many in the disputed areas.

On October 30, Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) and counter-terrorism units (ICTS) with coalition support conducted multiple strikes in Saladin province, killing "five senior ISIS leaders and more than 30 other Death Eaters."

"Their followers helped coordinate vehicle-borne improvised bomb attacks in Sharqat and Qayarrah that injured civilians, in addition to numerous attacks targeting ISF, Iraqi civilians and infrastructure within Salah ah Din and Kirkuk provinces," read a coalition statement released on Sunday.

The coalition did not comment on a boom-mobile that went kaboom! in western djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
on Thursday, killing 2. It occurred near a restaurant known to be frequented by security forces.

On the next day, Iraqi Special Operations Forces (ISOF) and coalition forces killed approximately 20 fighters near Makhmour. The operation began with air strikes and was followed by a ground attack the Iraqis.

"This successful strike conducted by the ISF disrupts ISIS networks as they continue to maintain the pressure required to prevent their resurgence," said Maj. Gen. Patrick Roberson, Commander of Special Operations Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve in the second statement released on Sunday.

The release of the statements follows US Special Presidential Envoy Brett McGurk meeting separately with new Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi and President Barham Salih in Baghdad on Saturday. McGurk said the coalition will accelerate its campaign on the Syrian side of the border.

Also on Saturday, the Kurdistan Region's Peshmerga were placed on high alert as coalition warplanes killed at least 13 ISIS gunnies in disputed areas claimed by Erbil and Baghdad near Makhmour.

Iraq's Ministry of Defence has said their side of the border is secure with forces and defensive measures employed from the Euphrates river crossing in al-Qaim north to Mosul.

A security vacuum and forces not loyal to the Iraqi government, in part, led to the rise of ISIS in 2014 when the group threatened to overrun the country. Currently, Kurdish security officials say there is a gap between their forces and ISF, particularly in the disputed areas claimed by Erbil and Baghdad, but currently under the security portfolio of the federal government.

The Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) the last two months has unpromising released security assessments that say ISIS attacks remain unabated.

"Tracked security incidents from October signals a reemergence of VBIED-based attacks in Kirkuk and Mosul. Targeted liquidations against mokhtars and attacks on electricity infrastructure continued unabated," read the KRSC statement published on November 4.

Brig. Gen. General Yahya Rasul, the spokesperson for Iraqi Joint Operations, had tweeted nearly daily reports of security incidents in October. Most were in Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
Diyala, Saladin, Nineveh, Baghdad, and Anbar provinces.

Iraq is currently still filling lower posts in its new government. PM Abdul-Mahdi, as commander in chief of the country's armed forces, faces unifying Iraqi security institutions and reeling predominately Shiite militias and paramilitias which received arms and training from Iran during the ISIS conflict.

The Kurdistan Region's Peshmerga remain under the command of Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani until a new government is formed. There have been no significant ISIS attacks where there is a Peshmerga presence.

Former Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared ISIS defeated in Iraq in December 2017.

Hamas seems to have started it:
Caroline Glick
Hamas shot a Cornet missile at a moving bus and hit it 3.5 hours ago. Moments before, 50 IDF soldiers had gotten off the bus. The driver was entering a parking lot when the bus was hit.

Kornet is a Russian guided anti-tank missile.

"Back to the stone-age you fuckers.
No Qatar $, no power, no imports, no sewage treatment. Stew and seethe in your self-imposed shit hole and think about what you could have if you quit killing Jews as your life goals. Until then, you will be subterranean targets"

Coalition intensifying anti-ISIS operations in eastern Syria
[Rudaw] Following reports of heavy ground fighting between Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and ISIS in Hajin, the coalition is announcing it will speed up operations in Deir ez-Zor governorate.

McGurk met separately on Saturday in Baghdad with new Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi and President Barham Salih.

The announcement comes as the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Sunday that coalition bombardments have increased since October 28 following an ISIS counterattack that seized 20 US-made Hummers.

"La Belle France is supporting the Syrian Democratic Forces with close air support missions," tweeted the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve on Saturday.

The Observatory indicated that coalition warplanes were able to target the ISIS-seized Hummers using "modern techniques." It added that ISIS loses through Friday included at least 41 loyalists including women and kiddies.

"Yesterday, the Coalition successfully struck & destroyed an ISIS observation post and staging area in Hajin, void of civilians at the time and tracking with surveillance assets. ISIS was first to report alleged civilian casualties, yet outlets picked up this story anyway," tweeted coalition spokesperson US Army Col. Sean Ryan on Saturday.

The SDF have reportedly suffered many casualties recently as ISIS stepped up attacks, taking advantage of bad weather.

SDF suspended operations against ISIS in the Hajin area of the Euphrates River valley on October 31 after The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
carried out attacks against Kurdish positions in the Kobane region of Rojava, northern Syria. The SDF announced on Sunday operations are now resuming.

The SDF is primarily composed of the mostly Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG).

Heavy coalition bombardments were used in the final stages of the battles to reclaim djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
and Raqqa.

Prior to the most recent phase of Operation Roundup in Hajin, the coalition dropped leaflets instructing people to flee via safe routes.

Hajin in Syria's eastern Deir ez-Zor governorate lies near the Iraqi border. Iraq's Ministry of Defence said their side of the border is secure with forces and defensive measures employed from the Euphrates river crossing in al-Qaim north to Mosul.

At times the Iraqi Air Force and Iraqi Security Forces have conducted cross-border operations targeting ISIS and supporting SDF efforts.
