Attacks kill 10 civilians in Afghanistan
[Iran Press TV] At least ten civilians have been killed in two separate deadly attacks in Afghanistan, amid rising concerns over the growing number of civilian deaths in the country.

The Afghan Interior Ministry said a rocket hit a vehicle carrying civilians in Yahya Khel District in the eastern Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
Province, leaving six civilians dead.

A woman and two children were among the dead, a Press TV correspondent reported.

While the ministry announced that the rocket attack was launched by thugs, local residents blamed US-led foreign forces for the fatal incident.

In a separate incident in Qalat, the capital of Zabul Province, four non-combatants were killed and two more were injured as their vehicle hit a roadside kaboom.

'Militants take control of Bajaur area'
[Iran Press TV] Taliban-linked snuffies take control of bordering area of Bajaur tribal region in Pakistain after US-led forces removed security checkpoints near the Afghan border, officials say.

Pakistain officials told Press TV late Monday that NATO forces lifted some 13 security checkpoints in Tehsil Mamond bordering area.

The snuffies took full control of the area and established their own armed patrols, the officials added.

The move came in the wake of a series of attacks on NATO supply containers all across Pakistain.

Dozens of vehicles, carrying supplies for the US-led foreign forces, were destroyed in the past two weeks.

NATO supplies via a vital Pak border crossing with Afghanistan resumed on Sunday after Pakistain's Foreign Ministry announced the reopening of the main land route following an 11-day suspension.

The route is crucial in supplying the US-led war effort in Afghanistan against the Talibs.

During the closure of the crossing, thousands of oil tankers and supply vehicles became stranded at different points between the port city of Karachi and Beautiful Downtown Peshawar.

9 Taliban Killed in NATO Airstrikes
[Tolo News] At least 9 Taliban forces of Evil were killed in NATO Arclight airstrikes in the western Herat province of Afghanistan on Monday

These men were killed in NATO Arclight airstrikes in the province's Obey district when a group of Talibs had gathered in an area, Noor Khan Nikzad, a front man for Herat Police Chief told TOLOnews.

A local Taliban capo is also reportedly among the killed.

Civilians have received no casualties in the attack.

Foreign forces have killed a number of Taliban capos in their Arclight airstrikes before.

Taliban forces of Evil have suffered heavy casualties in clashes with NATO forces recently, and a number of Taliban capos have been killed in NATO ground and air attacks so far.

Afghan and coalition forces have escalated their counter-insurgency operations in the country's volatile regions, and have had some advancement in these operations so far.

#1  Because the US is part of NATO, one can say that NATO has B-52 Stratofortresses. And I agree that Arclight strikes would put the fear of Allah into those Taliban fighters that were far enough away to survive the strike.

A B-52H can carry a conventional bomb load of 70,000 lbs. A B-1B Lancer can carry a 134,000 lbs bomb load (75,000 lbs of internal payload plus 59,000 lb on 6 external hardpoints).

You would either need fewer B-1Bs or, better yet, the arclight would be even more spectacular.

#4  The B-52H wing at Barksdale AFB has a full complement of aircraft - 36. Send 12 against Rawalpindi/Islamabad, 12 against Quetta, and 12 against Peshawar. Allow the Navy and the folks in Afghanistan to provide air cover. Afterwords, call on the few survivors to surrender, or we'll start running such strikes from Quetta to Chitral DAILY until they do. I'm sure even the most diehard Taliban would be willing to surrender after having the sh$$ bombed out of him (literally) every day for two or three weeks. NATO would get an object lesson on why you still need manned bombers in the so-called "missile age", and the entire Muslim world would get an object lesson on why you don't piss off the United States. Once the Afghan/Taliban problem is solved, we can then concentrate on Al-Shabaab in Somalia and the mess in Sudan. The quiet following the destruction of those two countries should last for a couple of years, at least. During that time, we could probably come up with a replacement for the B-52 that would be both cost-effective and capable of carrying an adequate payload anywhere in the world and back. I get nervous trusting my freedom to an aircraft that's almost as old as I am...

Somali pirates kidnap Puntland minister
[Iran Press TV] Somali pirates kidnapped a minister from Somalia's northern semi-autonomous region of Puntland following a shootout with security guards near the town of Garaad.

Heavily armed pirates ambushed the convoy of Puntland's Fisheries and Seaports Minister Said Mohamed Rage on his way to Garaad, a well-known pirate stronghold in central Somalia, a Press TV correspondent reports.
"Aaaarrr, me hearties! 'Tis the Fisheries and Seaports Minister we be after! He's comin' right to Port Royal! We'll nab him before he gets there and..."
"Ummm... Boss? Why don't we wait until he gets there to nab him?"

"We got the information that heavily armed pirates ambushed the minister's convoy while travelling in between Garacad and Jiriban. One of his guards and a local elder were killed while the minister was taken hostage," said Ali Yusuf Ali, Puntland's deputy interior minister.
"Aaaarrr! One false move an' the Minister gets it!"
The minister was on a sensitizing mission to the pirate's stronghold where he was to meet with local elders and elites, according to Ali.

Puntland has been transformed into a notorious base used by local pirates to launch attacks on merchant vessels transiting the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean.

Primitive Dead, Two Soldiers Hurt in Shabwa Clashes
[Yemen Post] A primitive was banged and two soldiers were maimed when festivities erupted early Monday between the cops and rustics in the Beer Ali district, Shabwa.

The site of the action was not far from the Balhaf Port for exporting liquefied natural gas.

Informed sources confirmed the briefly painful demise of Nasser BaKharkhour. Two soldiers were taken to hospital, while the reasons for the festivities were unfathomable and possibly non-existent.

The fighting came amid military preparations and the arrival of military reinforcements, particularly in the Al-Saeed district, after bad guyz hit the convoy of Deputy Chief of General Staff, Shabwa Governor and other military commanders.

The attack was blamed on al-Qaeda which has been responsible for deadly attacks against security buildings and public security and intelligence officers in southern and southeastern areas, mainly in Shabwa, in the last few months.

The authorities carried out in late September large-scale operations against Al-Qaeda snuffies in Al-Hawta town and other areas in the province banging, ventilating and jugging many of them.

A week later, they said the town had been cleared of vermin and a hunt is continuing for suspects who could escape.

Yemen blast raises fears ahead of tournament
[Al Arabiya] Yemen said Tuesday it jugged 19 suspects after twin kabooms killed three people at a sports centre in Aden, raising security fears ahead of an international football tournament in the restive south.

The attacks, which are yet to be claimed by any group, rocked the southern city on Monday, the same day al-Qaeda's Yemeni branch announced the creation of a "new army" to overthrow the country's president in response to his U.S.-backed counterterrorism campaign and said it would fill its ranks with snipers and bomb makers.

"Run for your life," the group's military chief warned President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh in an audio recording that surfaced on bully boy-affiliated websites.

The commander, Qassim al-Raimi, did not reveal the size of the new fighting force, but said its ranks were already overflowing with so many volunteers -- including some from abroad -- that many had to be turned away.

Yemen's al-Qaeda-allied gunnies and other gunnies have long sought to topple Saleh's government in response to its relationship with the United States, which is deeply concerned about al-Qaeda's reinvigorated operation in Yemen.

Apart from al-Qaeda, government forces are facing a separatist movement advocating the secession of Yemen's southern provinces, which joined with the north in 1990.

19 jugged

The bombs went off at Al-Wahda club in the Sheikh Othman area of Aden, the main city Yemen's south, wounding 17 people, three of whom later died, according to medical officials. Two coppers were among the maimed.

Authorities attributed the blasts to the accidental kaboom of an old bomb.

However,
The infamous However...
an official told AFP on Tuesday that 19 suspects, most of them believed to belong to al-Qaeda, were jugged in connection with the double bombing.

Another official said "this cowardly act cannot defeat (security) plans" that the authorities have put in place for the 20th Gulf Football Championship to be staged in the region between Nov. 22 and Dec. 5.

And a sports official told AFP that two unexploded bombs were found in the sports club on Tuesday.

Security fears have risen in Yemen's south following a string of similar attacks, most recently on Sunday when assailants fired a rocket-propelled grenade at a police patrol, wounding one person.

And on Oct. 7, dozens of protesters invaded Aden's Al-Shoala sports club, where some of the football matches are to be held, and demanded the release of people jugged in common law cases.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Vladikavkaz terrorist act solved, 3 bandidos arrested, 2 killed
(Itar-Tass) -- A dreadful terrorist act at the major marketplace in Vladikavkaz is solved,
Holmes! How do you do it!
three beturbanned goons were jugged, another two were bumped off, Federal Security Service Director Alexander Bortnikov said at a meeting of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee here on Tuesday.

Doku Count Doku Umarov's close accomplice Khashagulgov criminally masterminded the terrorist act, his gang is also involved in more than ten blasts in Ingushetia.

"The terrorist acts in North Ossetia were solved. They were committed in August-September 2010 at the major marketplace in Vladikavkaz and at a police post on the Caucasus federal highway on the administrative border with Ingushetia," Bortnikov noted.

"During the search operation a terrorist group, which criminally masterminded and committed the foresaid crimes and involved in numerous murders of law enforcers, servicemen and more than ten blasts of homemade bombs, was spotted," the FSB director said.
"Comrade Commander! I have spotted the criminal gang!"
"Very well, Igor. Bring up the men!"

"The detectives found out that the terrorist acts were criminally masterminded by Doku Umarov's close accomplice Isa Moriarty Khashagulgov, who also coordinated the rackets in Ingushetia," he said.

"The direct perpetrators of the blasts were active members of the gang Spike Daurbekov, Muggsy Latyrov and the brother of warlord Khashagulgov. They are jugged and are being beaten at the detention center," Bortnikov said.

Other two accomplices in the terrorist acts chose to shoot it out and were liquidated, the FSB director added.

The Russian Investigation Committee and the FSB Investigation Department are investigating the terrorist acts.

On September 9, at the gates to the Vladikavkaz major marketplace a suicide bomb attacker detonated an bomb hidden in the luggage compartment of a Volga car. The tragedy claimed the lives of 19 people, 14 of them died instantaneously. About 200 people received various injuries. Seventeen injured people were brought to Moscow for treatment.

The detainees testified about the ties "with major groups involved in the terrorist acts," Deputy Prime Minister and presidential plenipotentiary representative in the North Caucasus Federal District Alexander Khloponin told news hounds earlier.

India-Pakistan
NATO helicopters violate Pakistan airspace
(KUNA) -- Only two days after Pakistain re-opened supply routes for NATO forces in Afghanistan, the allied forces helicopters early Tuesday reportedly again violated Pakistains aerial space.

Two NATO helicopters entered into Pakistain air space and flew back after buzzing the bordering tribal area for few minutes, citing unnamed sources local news channels reported.

No immediate official confirmation of the violation was available, which came two days after Pakistain re-opened supply routes for NATO tankers. Pakistain had closed all routes for NATO supplies after three soldiers were killed in an aerial strike by NATO forces.

It was only after formal apologies from the US ambassador and the US military chief that Pakistain decided to re-open the routes. During the closure period, more than 150 NATO oil tankers were destroyed in jihad boy attacks and at least ten people were killed.

[Al Arabiya] Several Iranian soldiers were killed in an kaboom that rocked a military base in the western province of Lorestan on Tuesday, Iran's Arabic-language Al-Alam TV reported.

The channel, quoting an unnamed military source, said that "some soldiers have been killed in the accidental blast" which took place in the Imam Ali military base, located outside the scenic provincial capital of Khorramabad.
Does that happen often in competent militaries?
State news agency IRNA had previously reported that several soldiers were maimed in the kaboom.

A blast at a military parade in late September killed 12 people and injured 80, in the city of Mahabad. Iranian authorities blamed it on "anti-revolutionary" gunnies backed by foreign enemies.

Days after that attack, Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards said they had killed about 30 people who were behind it.

Analysts have said attacks could raise pressure on President Mahmoud Short Round Ahmadinejad, whose government has been plagued by political infighting and economic woes linked in part to foreign sanctions imposed due to Iran's disputed nuclear program.

No group grabbed credit for the blast in Mahabad, which occurred during an annual ceremony for the Iranian armed forces to commemorate Iran's 8-year war with Iraq in the 1980s.

But several bands of Islamic bandidos hostile to the establishment are active in Iran, including Kurdish separatists in the northwest, Baluch gunnies in the southeast and some Arabs in the southwest.

The Sunni Mohammedan Jundollah bully boy group, which Iran says has links to al-Qaeda, is the most active. It claimed a double suicide kaboom on July 15 which killed 28 people, including Revolutionary Guards.

Last week, five Iranians, including four members of the security forces, were killed and nine injured when gunnies opened fire on a police patrol in the capital of Iran's Kurdistan province, the scene of frequent clashes between Kurdish guerrillas and Iranian forces.
