Arabia
Update on Al-Fayfi
British officials confirm that the information that led to the discovery of the bomb packages came from former of al-Qaeda member, Al-Fayfi, who recently announced his repentance in Soddy Arabia.
The gentleman will definitely not be able to return to his old comrades a third time. The phrase, "Hoisted by/with his own petard" comes to mind.
In the meantime, Al-Qaeda expert in Yemen Nabil Bukairi doubts that Al-Fayfi could have had any links with the attacks saying, "it hard to believe that Al-Fayfi was responsible for informing authorities of the bomb packages because he left Al-Qaeda more than two months ago, therefore, he would not be trusted with any important information Al-Qaeda might have."

"Soddy Arabia announced openly that he was in their custody more than 20 days ago, and we are sure Al-Qaeda would have changed its timings at least if he had any sort of information about the matter," added Bukairi.

Updates of the Oil Pipline attack
[Yemen Post] The bombing of an oil pipeline in Shabwa yesterday by gunnies with suspected of links to al-Qaeda resulted in the stop of overall pumping of oil in that region.

A local official said, "Gunmen from al-Qaeda put a ticking bomb under the pipes, and exploded by remote."

He added that "in spite of attempts to contain the oil spill, large quantities were lost, and preliminary estimates the loss to about 5 thousand barrels."

Firefighters are still trying to control the blaze in the oil pipeline, but until the moment, flames continue to rise. According to eyewitnesses, the area of the attack is covered with black clouds due to the government not being able to stop the fire.

Al-Qaeda's Message Calls on Tribe Not to Join Authorities
[Yemen Post] Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has called on all Al-Awlaki's tribe Wednesday to not offer any cooperation with the Yemeni government, media outlets reported.

The statement condemned tribal leaders in Shabwa province as they held a meeting with the envoy of the government, warning against any attempt to allow the security forces to kill them, the sources said, adding that the statement described the Yemen's government as policeman for the Americans to ensure their security.

Experts said that Al-Qaeda elements in Yemen raised questions of whether Yemen might give rise to a Taliban-style regime. "American-born Mohammedan holy man Anwar Al-Awlaki is calling for jihad against America and resides out in hills of southern Yemen with the protection of his very powerful family tribe," they said.

Further they said that tribal society in Yemen is regulated by complex rules that bind its members to one another and said much of Yemen's side-line is without effective formal, state-administered governance, but said this didn't mean that these regions were ungoverned.

For its part, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has stated its intent to build the Islamic Khaliphate through Yemen's tribes something analysts say it may ultimately find its being there a danger.

Apparently, Al-Qaeda operatives have found safe haven in some of Yemen's tribal regions though which Al-Qaeda can move toward its aim to establish an international Khaliphate which conflicts with many local political realities.

Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has may masked men in the remote areas of the country, experts said, adding that the tribes that Al-Qaeda youth lives among were generous tribes that shelter strangers.

Britain
Suspect linked to cargo-bomb-plot-group arressted
Linked to AQAP, not to the cargo bombs.
(KUNA) -- A member of the terror group blamed for last week's cargo plane bomb plot was jugged in the UK on suspicion of planning an attack in this country earlier this year, the Home Secretary revealed Wednesday. Theresa May made the disclosure in her first major speech on counter-terrorism.

The suspect was allegedly a member of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the group linked to the powerful bombs hidden in printer cartridges found on US-bound cargo planes at East Midlands Airport and in Dubai on Friday. Mrs May said: "An Aqap (al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula) un-named associate was jugged here earlier this year. "He is alleged to have been planning a terrorist attack in this country. Threats such as these are likely to continue."

The Home Secretary went on: "We know that people from this country have already gone to Somalia to fight. "It seems highly likely, given experience elsewhere, that if left to their own devices we would eventually see British cut-thoats, trained and hardened on the streets of Mogadishu returning to the UK and seeking to commit mass murder on the streets of London."
Have you thought about deporting them to Mogadishu when they show up? Even better, to Bosassa.
Lots more will leave than return... and none of them in the meantime will have been committing jihad on British streets. Not to mention how many of those that return will be maimed and full of intestinal parasites. But the remainder should be carefully watched sent on to Bosassa (location known only to a special few), which no doubt won't irritate their tender sensibilities nearly as much.
Mrs May said the Government's review of its counter-terrorism strategy, due to report later this year, will include "significant changes" leading to a "much better balance than we have at present".

She added: "The success of our domestic counter-terrorism work here depends on international co-operation and collaboration overseas.

"The investigation of terrorist plots in this country will almost always lead overseas."

Mrs May went on: "Most threats to the UK continue to come from the federally-administered tribal areas of Pakistain. "When we have a Pak diaspora of over one million people, and there are hundreds of thousands of journeys between our countries every year, what goes on in Pakistain matters on the streets of Britain."

Mrs May said: "Where necessary we will enhance our protective security measures; we will invest in conflict prevention and stopping terrorist plots overseas; we will refocus the strategy for preventing radicalisation in the UK; and we will strike a better balance between our liberties and our security. "There is much good work under way to tackle the terrorist threat....But where there needs to be change I will not be afraid to make it."

She added: "I want an approach which is more targeted against cut-thoat individuals, but that impacts much less on the good people of our communities.

"I want an approach which allows people to enjoy their liberty in safety and security.

"And I want an approach that is effective in dealing with an evolving threat. That is what we will deliver."

Later, the British media said the alleged member of al Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula is former British Airways computer expert Rajib Karim. The 30-year-old is due to go on trial at Woolwich Crown Court in London next January charged with plotting suicide bombings, including his own death.

Bangladesh-born Karim, 30, of Newcastle, northern England, is accused of being a one-man sleeper cell who infiltrated the airline as part of his plans. Counter-terrorism police investigated suspected links between him and his home country, Pakistan and Yemen.

Karim was arrested during a series of raids on his home and offices of his employer on February 25, the media pointed out.

China-Japan-Koreas
S. Korea fires warning shots at N. Korean boat
(KUNA) -- South Korea's Navy fired warning shots to drive away a North Korean fishing vessel that crossed the tense maritime border in the West Sea, the South's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said Wednesday, according to the Korea Times. "10 shots were fired as a warning after repeated loudspeaker broadcasts ordered the North Korean vessel to retreat," the newspaper quoted a JCS front man as saying. It was not clear why the vessel crossed the sea border, known as the Northern Limit Line (NLL), in the early morning and why it remained in southern waters for nearly two hours, the officer said. "The North Korean boat returned north of the NLL as of 9:57 a.m. (0057 GMT), and there have been no other unusual activities by the North's military," he added.

Ties between the two Koreas sank to their lowest level in decades after a South Korean warship was torpedoed in the same area off the west coast in March, killing 46 sailors. Seoul accuses the North for the attack but Pyongyang denies it. North Korea disputes the sea border which was drawn up by the United Nations, aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society Command at the end of the 1950-53 Korean War. The waters off the west coast have been the scene of deadly naval skirmishes in the past that have resulted in the deaths of sailors on both sides.

The Seoul government is bracing for any possible North Korean moves to sabotage next week's Group of 20 summit of leading wealthy and developing countries next week, the daily said.

The North has a track record of making provocations during times when world attention is focused on Seoul. In 1987, a year before Seoul hosted the Summer Olympics, North Korean agents planted a bomb on a South Korean plane, killing all 115 people on board. In 2002, when South Korea jointly hosted soccer's World Cup along with Japan, a North Korean naval boat sank a South Korean patrol vessel near the sea border.

Home Front: WoT
New Yorker accused of plan to attack US troops
[Dawn] A New York man accused of trying to join the US military with the intent of attacking US troops in Iraq did not enter a plea as he faced a US judge in New York on Tuesday.

Abdel Hameed Shehadeh, 21, a US citizen, was jugged on Oct. 22 in Hawaii and transferred to the US District court in Brooklyn, where he is charged with making materially false statements in a matter involving international terrorism. He faces eight years in prison.

In a brief hearing, US District Judge Ramon Reyes arraigned Shehadeh and ordered him held without bail. Shehadeh, who had shoulder-length hair and wore grey track pants, spoke only once, to answer "yes" to a judge's question.

A criminal complaint said law enforcement officials had trailed Shehadeh closely and interviewed him repeatedly over the last two years.

New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told news hounds last week Shehadeh was "a homegrown individual who wants to do us harm."

Court documents said Shehadeh told a witness that "joining the military was an easier way to join jihad because the military would provide him with training, transportation and a weapon," the complaint said.

Military recruiters ultimately rejected his application because they found he had lied about his travel history, the complaint said.

Shehadeh, who lived in the New York borough of Staten Island, tried to join snuffies in Pakistain and Somalia but was denied entry. He was eventually placed on a "no fly" list, the complaint said.

When authorities questioned him about his travel attempts, the complaint said, he lied about his intentions, telling them he intended to study Islam in Pakistain, not receive military training.

Shehadeh also created radical websites, "which advocated violent jihad against the West," and sought to contact members of al Qaeda, the complaint said.

One of his websites linked to blogs and speeches by radical American holy man Anwar al-Awlaki, believed to be in hiding in Yemen. Shehadeh told US authorities that he sent several unanswered e-mails to al-Awlaki.

#1  My perspective is that's 14-500lb bombs, but then I downsize it to the actual chemical mix that is in that shell and it looks more like 200 lbs of explosive per 14 units so that's......2800 lbs of explosive. Well that's about 1/3 the weight of my truck, so I'm looking at a pile the size of 1/3 my truck and thinking HOLY SHOEMEISTER thats a lot of boom.

I wonder how it was packaged? Is it really TWO TRUCKS!

Qaeda group says Christians "legitimate targets"
[Al Arabiya] An Iraqi group linked to al-Qaeda declared Christians "legitimate targets" as a deadline expired for Egypt's Coptic church to free women allegedly held after converting to Islam, SITE monitors said Wednesday.

The self-proclaimed Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) said in an Internet statement its action was justified by the church's refusal to indicate the status of the women it said were being held captive in monasteries, the U.S.-based monitoring group said.

"All Christian centers, organizations and institutions, leaders and followers, are legitimate targets for the mujahedeen (holy warriors) wherever they can reach them," said the statement.
Mohammedan Brotherhood reaction

Egypt's Mohammedan Brotherhood urged the state to protect Christian places of worship after the threat against Egypt's Coptic church was issued by al-Qaeda.

"The Mohammedan Brotherhood is stressing to all, and primarily Mohammedans, that the protection of holy places of all monotheistic religions is the mission of the majority of Mohammedans," the group said in a statement on its website late on Tuesday.

"The Brothers reject all stupid threats against Christian places of worship in Egypt issued by anyone and under any pretext," the group said.

"The Egyptian state and the Egyptian people must protect holy places of all worshippers of monotheistic religions," it added.

Threats
The ISI, which claimed the capturing of Christians in a Storied Baghdad church that ended Sunday with the killing of 46 worshippers in a rescue drama, had said that the attack was to seek the release of the alleged converts in Egypt.

"Let these idolaters, and at their forefront, ...., know that the killing sword will not be lifted from the necks of their followers until they declare their innocence from what ... the Egyptian Church is doing," the ISI said in its latest statement.

It also demanded that the Christians "show to the mujahedeen their seriousness to pressure this belligerent church to release the captive women from the prisons of their monasteries."

The women, Camilia Shehata and Wafa Constantine, are the wives of Coptic priests whom Islamists have said were forcibly nabbed by the Coptic Church after they had willingly converted to Islam.

Shehata disappeared for a few days in July, setting off Coptic protests. Police found her and escorted her back home, triggering protests by Islamists who said the church was detaining her after she converted to Islam.

Footage of a woman claiming to be Shehata after converting to Islam surfaced on the Internet, firing up the protests. The Coptic Church says she was not the woman in the footage.

Wafa Constantine also went missing, in 2004, reportedly after her husband refused to give her a divorce. She was temporarily sequestered at a convent as reports of her conversion were circulated.

The two cases threatened the fragile sectarian balance of the country, where Copts make up about 10 percent of Egypt's 80-million population and have been the target of sectarian attacks.

An Egyptian security source told AFP that security around Coptic places of worship had been "discreetly reinforced with plainclothes police and patrols."

IDF, Shin Bet confirm killing of Gaza terrorist
Remember this story about Israel allowing imported cars into Gaza?
The IDF and Shin Bet confirmed on Wednesday that they were responsible for the explosion that killed Army of Islam commander Muhammad Jamal al-Namnam.

Al-Namnam's car exploded near a Hamas police station in Gaza City. The al-Arabiya network reported that one person was killed in the blast and another three were injured.

Al-Namnam was a senior field commander in the Army of Islam, one of the organizations affiliated with al-Qaeda in the Strip. He was involved in attacks against Israel targets and recently planned to carry out more attacks against Israeli and American targets through the Sinai Peninsula.

According to a source in one of the Gaza organizations, the man was killed in a new Hyundai car which recently arrived in the Strip from Israel as part of the easing of the blockade. Israel has allowed dozens of vehicles to enter Gaza.

The source told Ynet that the Hamas interior ministry had recently called on Palestinian buying the new cars to have them checked thoroughly, "for fear that Israel has planted listening devices or even booby-trapped them."
Make sure you check your donkeys as well, guys, you never what what the evil Joooz hid inside them. Wear gloves ...

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US labels Iran's Jundallah a terrorist group
The United States on Wednesday officially designated the shadowy Sunni rebel group Jundallah a foreign terrorist organization as it blamed it for a series of attacks in Iran.

"Since its inception in 2003, Jundallah has engaged in numerous attacks resulting in the death and maiming of scores of Iranian civilians and government officials, primarily in Iran's Sistan-Baluchestan province," the US State Department said in a statement.

"Jundallah uses a variety of terrorist tactics, including suicide kabooms, ambushes, kidnappings and targeted liquidations," it added.

Jundallah (Soldiers of God) says it is fighting for the interests of the southeastern province's large ethnic Baluch community, who unlike most Iranians, mainly follow the Sunni branch of Islam.

In July it grabbed credit for attacking the Grand Mosque in the bustling provincial capital Zahedan, reportedly targeting members of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards Corps, killing 28 people.

The State Department statement "condemned the Grand Mosque attack in the strongest possible terms." "The United States extends its sympathy to the families and loved ones of those injured and killed. The president and the secretary called for the perpetrators of this horrific attack to be held accountable for their actions," the statement said.

Officials in Washington said the designation is key to the US fight against terror groups around the world.

The label as a terrorist organization means US citizens and companies are prohibited from providing material support or resources to Jundallah.

It also blocks any property and or funds belonging to the group in the United States.

The Baluchis straddle the border with neighboring Pakistain and Afghanistan and Jundallah bully boyz have taken advantage of the unrest in the region to find safe haven in the frontier region.
