#5  Yes Pan, it is all about the evil of dominance. Our fathers went after Imperial Japan and the murderous Nazis with unquenchable determination, passion, and desire for victory. Why we cannot muster the courage to do the same today is a mystery to me.

#7  Even if the "evil of Islam and all who follow it are eradicated" a new evil will just arise to take its place. There will always be evil, and forgetting that will always create bigger problems.

#9  In some sense, the theory of 'Islam is peaceful and AlQ had hijacked the theology' has a little body of evidence to support it (in various times and places, Moslem countries were peaceful).

However, comforting as this theory is, the fact that the Koran has nasty, nasty stuff in it that is supported by more nasty stuff in the Haditha and Sunna and supported again by later authorities as well as the persecution by moslems of other moslems is gradually breaking down the number of believers in peaceful Islam.

What is depressing is that the number of people who've realized the 'peaceful Islam' theory is egregiously wrong is still probably below 10% of the Congress, the MSM, etc.

#10  It is disturbing to hear about the things that happen to Christians in Muslim majority countries and so I cannot understand why we let them immigrate to our country. Dearborn is scary. Drill, baby, drill so we don't need their oil. Disengage wherever possible and hit back hard whenever necessary. No nation building. No jizya. No taking sides when they fight each other. Let the survivors figure out what to do with the rubble.

#12  9-11-2001 I was at home in NC. Three years later, I was moved to write the following editorial; it Was published in a number of newspapers within the US and overseas on September 11th, 2004. Today's events in Egypt and Libya have merely served to solidify my opinion.

"When Innocents Die"

An open letter to President Putin and the civilized world

Shortly after enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, in 1966, I received a letter written by my little sister. In that letter she expressed her fears. Fears that her big brother was going to go to Vietnam, fears that she would never see me again, and a poem that she wrote --praising me.

I went to Vietnam, and many other countries, some friendly and welcoming and others that were not. I served during the "Hot War" as well as the "Cold War." I served both overtly and covertly. I attended schools with military personnel from many countries; Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Jordan, Iran, Algeria, Lebanon, Egypt, England, Japan, Korea to name but a few. I was trained to find the enemy, I learned to find friends. On 19 July 1996 I received a Certificate of Retirement from the Armed Forces of the United States of America -- acknowledging thirty years of service in the USMC.

Shortly there after, I spoke with my little sister. We talked about the poem she had written to me so many years ago, we talked about the intervening years, we talked about all those that had not survived those years. Most of all, we talked about plans for the future. Plans she and her husband and son had made. Plans that my wife and son and I had made. Plans my younger brother had made with his wife and daughter. Plans made by my sister still living in "the old home town" in Homer, New York.

Slightly more than five years later I was again speaking with my little sister. It was a typical Tuesday morning, I had just finished reading the daily newspaper and had gone "on-line" for the rest of the news when she called me. She was calling from her office from which she could see "a huge plume of smoke in the distance." Her first words were: "oh my God, turn on your television, a plane has just crashed into the World Trade Center." Tuesday, September 11, 2001. The rest is history.

And now, in another September, history repeats itself. Repeats itself with, if possible, even more horror and inhumanity. The bombing in the Moscow subway, the downing of two aircraft, the indefensible atrocity committed upon the children of School Number 1 in Beslan. That there can be human beings that are capable of committing such acts shames mankind. That all of the leaders of the world, REGARDLESS OF RELIGIOUS BELIEFS, do not immediately rise to their feet and condemn this wanton act of outrageous savagery also shames mankind. That there are men and women that can attempt to justify such acts shames mankind. That there are those "politicans" that can point accusing fingers and demand to know "why did you allow this to happen" while quickly scurrying around burying their voting records, even as grieving families bury their dead, shames mankind. That men and women in certain parts of the world can gleefully replay video tapes of these acts to their children and tell them that "this is the way to paradise," shames mankind.

Paragraph five of the letter that forwarded my Retirement Certificate states: "As a retired Marine you may be ordered to active duty without your consent." The actions of a few religious fanatics on September 11, 2001 and, most recently, in Beslan have issued a paragraph five to every member of the civilized world. The terrorists have declared war. And re-declared it and re-declared it and re-declared it. Each declaration has been written in the blood of the innocents. Evil men and women are slaughtering innocents. They are not waging war, they are not defending their country or their honor. They have no honor. They shame mankind.

Some say that the acts of September 11, 2001 "awoke a sleeping giant." I agree, however it was my dearest hope that when the Giant stirred, the movement would, in turn, rouse the rest of the world. I am not making light of the "coalition of the Willing," I know, possibly better than some, how much it takes to field even one soldier half a world away. I salute every country, every man and woman that has in any of a number of ways enlisted in the War on Terror. But still, so many sleep.

Hopefully my words, and the words of many more eloquent than I could ever hope to be, will rouse a few of those sleepers. Perhaps they will wake from their dreams where negotiation and appeasement resolve all the worlds problems. Perhaps they will wake from their dreams where apologizing for nonexistent slights and offering blood-soaked ransom will resolve all the worlds problems. Perhaps they will wake from their dreams where a sternly worded letter from the United Nations will immediately resolve all the worlds problems. Perhaps they will wake from their dreams and enter the nightmare that has over-taken reality. Terrorists. Not militants, not guerillas, not displaced persons, not freedom fighters. Killers, Murderers, Rapists, Sadists, Fanatics, TERRORISTS. Terrorists that will use any anyone and anything to further their "cause." Terrorists that will kill and destroy anyone and anything to further their "cause." Terrorists that will play on the fears and foibles of normal human beings to further their "cause."

President George Bush is awake now, Prime Minister Tony Blare is awake now, Prime Minister Iyad Allawi is awake now, Prime Minister Hamid Karzai is awake now, President Vladimir Putin is awake now, as are many other world leaders. I am awake now, my family is awake now, my brothers and sisters in arms are awake now. When will the rest of the world wake? When will the people of the world wake to the nightmare that has overtaken them? When will all mankind stand shoulder to shoulder against terrorists.

My life has been blessed, I still have my little sister.

President Putin, I grieve with you over the deaths that have occurred in Beslan and elsewhere in your country. I stand resolved with you in saying not again. I stand with the leaders named above and those others now fighting terrorism around the world. I stand with the military forces of the civilized world, I stand with the first responders and law enforcement personnel of the civilized world, I stand with mankind and tell these inhuman murderer not again.

I invite those not yet standing to rise with me, to rise and look to your families and to your neighbors and to your leaders and say loudly NOT AGAIN!

Children are the life and future of this world. By their indiscriminate slaughter of innocents, terrorists around the world have separated themselves from mankind. They are not human. No one with any humanity in them could commit such atrocities and then claim it is done in the name of God. God weeps, Allah weeps, Buddha weeps, any deity worshiped by humanity weeps. I weep, I weep for the children that will never know the joys that this great and wonderful world held for them. I weep for the children of the children... that shall never be... I weep for the world that we will lose if we do not stand and with great resolve and determination say NOT AGAIN!

Understand, as we stand together, as we fight this global battle, innocents shall die, civilians shall die, military shall die, even countries may die. But, if we stand together we can and will win this war. We must not allow ourselves to be distracted, we must not allow ourselves to be deterred, we must now allow the terrorists to win. For, if they win, surely humanity shall perish from this earth.

Please stand with me and repeat: not again, not again, never again.

Cairo protesters scale U.S. Embassy wall, remove flag
Egyptian demonstrators climbed the walls of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo today and pulled down the American flag to protest a film that they say is insulting to the Prophet Mohammad.

Update at 2:07 p.m. ET: CNN reports that U.S. security guards fired a volley off warning shots as the crowd gathered outside the embassy walls.

CNN adds that the embassy had been expecting a demonstration and cleared all diplomatic personnel earlier from the facility.

Original post: The Associated Press reports that embassy officials say there was no staff inside at the time.

Reuters reports that protesters tried to raise a black flag carrying the slogan: "There is no god but Allah and Mohammad is his messenger."

The news agency says about 2,000 protesters have gathered outside the embassy and about 20 have scaled the walls.

The AP says the protesters were largely ultra conservative Islamists.

Iran's FARS news agency says the film is the work of a group of "extremist" members of the Egyptian Coptic Church in the United States.

Al Ahram online says the film is reportedly being produced by US-based Coptic-Christian Egyptians, including Esmat Zaklama and Morees Sadek, with the support of the Terry Jones Church in the United States.

Jones is the evangelical pastor who stirred controversy last year by threatening to burn a Koran in public.

CNN says the film in question is a Dutch production.

The AP says clips of the film are available on YouTube show the prophet having sex and question his role as the messenger of Godâ??s words.

Feels more and more like 1979. Why do we give these idiots 2 billion a year in aid again?

#2  I'm tired of this, such is an act of war. Castrate their Ambassador, execute his entire embassy staff and pick three of their cities and reduce them to very small bouncing rubble. If they complain, nuke Cairo.

Instead, I'm sure what will happen is Obama will rush over there for a good round of crotch sniffing as bows like the good worm he is.

#4  US Embassy in Cairo press release:
U.S. Embassy Condemns Religious Incitement
September 11, 2012

The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.

Diana West's question:
"Could Gov. Romney consider whether he has an opinion worth sharing with the American people about this nightmare?"

#5  "We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others."

So those who denied the Divine Nature of the Showa Emperor's person were actually abusing their free speech rights according to the US government?

That would explain Obama's apologetic bow to the Heisei Emperor.

#8  Were have we seen this before -

The escalating situation was finally brought to a head by the Pasha of Tripolitania, Yusuf Karamanli. On 14 May 1801 he ordered the flag staff (flying the 'Stars and Stripes') standing in front of the US consulate to be cut down. This symbolic act was taken as a declaration of war against America.

But those were the times of old white men [who actually accomplished something].

#11  That reaction from the Embassy makes me sick. What about respect for the religious beliefs of the Copts? That's just one of the more obvious questions. Darfur rebels in South Kordofan 'clash' with army
[Daily Nation (Kenya)] Rebels from Sudan's Darfur region said they clashed on Sunday with government forces in embattled South Kordofan state, where other Islamic fascisti reported repulsing a government offensive.

The fighting is the latest since Sudan and South Sudan -- which Khartoum accuses of backing the rebels -- last week resumed African Union

-led talks in Æthiopia to resolve security and other crucial issues.

Darfur's Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) said 10 government soldiers were killed in the fighting between El Muglad and El Dibb, in northwestern South Kordofan just over the border from Darfur.

"Some on our side were maimed but nobody killed," said JEM front man Gibril Adam Bilal.

Casualty claims are difficult to verify, with access to South Kordofan restricted.

Army front man Sawarmi Khaled Saad denied that a clash had occurred and said the JEM does not have "any presence or activity in South Kordofan state."

The JEM began its Darfur uprising almost a decade ago.

Last year they and other Darfur Islamic fascisti joined a Revolutionary Front to work together to overthrow the Arab-dominated Khartoum regime that they say is unrepresentative of the country's diversity.

Another Revolutionary Front member, the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), is active in South Kordofan and Blue Nile states.

SPLM-N on Sunday said it had repulsed government soldiers who tried to seize two rebel-held villages near the South Kordofan state capital of Kadugli.

The army tried on Friday to take Dloka village, 13 kilometres (eight miles) south of Kadugli, as well as a second community northeast of the government-controlled capital, SPLM-N front man Arnu Ngutulu Lodi said.

Somali election: Hassan Sheikh elected as president
[BBC] Somali MPs meeting in the Mogadishu have elected Hassan Sheikh Mohamud as the country's new president, in the latest step to end decades of war.

The academic beat President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed in a run-off poll by 190 to 79 votes, officials said.

No candidate secured the required two-thirds majority in the first round of voting, conducted by secret ballot.

It is the first time for years that a president has been chosen on Somali soil, a sign of improving security.

However,

Despite qualifying for the second round, outgoing Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali and moderate Islamist Abdulkadir Osoble then pulled out after coming third and fourth respectively. Eighteen candidates were eliminated at the first hurdle.

Outgoing Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed conceded defeat during a live broadcast on national TV, saying he was "satisfied" with the results of the "just elections".

Mauritania Denounces 'Barbaric Massacre' by Mali Troops
[An Nahar] Mauritania on Monday accused the Malian army of perpetrating a "barbaric massacre" after the shooting in central Mali of 16 unarmed Moslem preachers, including eight Mauritanians.

The Mauritanian government denounced "the cruelty of this unjustifiable collective murder of unarmed, innocent preachers by gunnies dressed in the uniform of the regular army", calling the shooting "a barbaric massacre".

The shooting took place at a checkpoint near the town of Diabali on Saturday night, when a vehicle failed to stop and soldiers apparently suspected its passengers of being Islamist bad boys.

Mauritania's government said that the killings "were a (...) criminal act, committed in cold blood, without warning (...) against preachers who had no other weapons than their faith, coming to bring the message of peace, brotherhood and tolerance" to Mali.

It demanded the "diligent opening of an independent inquiry, with the aim of elucidating the circumstances of this odious crime and identifying those responsible, to bring them to justice."

Mali's government ordered an immediate investigation on Sunday but Mauritania stressed it wanted to be involved.

In a statement late Sunday, the Bamako government said "an incident" occurred overnight Saturday in which eight Malians and eight people from neighboring Mauritania were fatally shot.

"On behalf of the people of Mali, the government deeply regrets this painful event and presents its sincere condolences to the bereaved families and the government and people of Mauritania," the statement said.

Mali's Foreign Minister Tieman Coulibaly was expected in the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott Monday, a Mauritanian official told AFP without providing further details.

According to a Malian government statement published Sunday, Coulibaly's mission is to express "the compassion and regrets of the Malian people" after the shooting, which occurred 400 kilometers (250 miles) northeast of Bamako.

According to several Malian and Mauritanian officials, the victims were traveling in a single vehicle and were unarmed.

A Mauritanian, Dedi Ould Mohamed Mokhtar Ould Bou Ely, whose cousin was among those bumped off, told AFP that the victims "were killed in cold blood by the Malian army, which is looking for any reason to ignore and hide the facts."

This claim has been taken up since by Arab residents and Tuaregs on social networking websites, but others argue that the army overreacted in a climate of suspicion and nervousness in Mali.

The country was considered one of the region's stable democracies until a March coup plunged it into turmoil.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Islamic Islamic fascisti allied to Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb seized key towns in the vast desert north, an area larger than La Belle France or Texas.

Gunmen Kill Three Nigeria State Oil Workers
[An Nahar] Suspected oil thieves have rubbed out three employees of Nigeria's state oil firm, in the latest violence blamed on black market crude traffickers, the company said Monday.

Technicians from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) were dispatched to the village of Arepo near Lagos over the weekend to repair a damaged pipeline, NNPC front man Fidel Pepple said.

When they approached the vandalized area "they were ensnared in an ambush," he added.

"NNPC over the weekend confirmed the killing of three of its personnel after suspected pipeline hackers opened fire on a team of engineers and technicians," the company statement said. Several others suffered gunshots wounds.

Oil theft is believed to be on the rise in Nigeria and Shell has estimated that more than 150,000 barrels of crude -- more than Ghana consumes daily -- is stolen in Africa's top producer each day.

Security analysts warn that the criminal gangs who blast into pipelines and siphon out the crude for sale on the black market have become increasingly violent.

Militant-related unrest declined sharply after a 2009 amnesty deal with oil rebels but groups who claim to be fighting on behalf of impoverished communities have persisted in attacking oil infrastructure.

Industry experts say major firms like Shell are looking to shift their interests offshore, where installations and equipment are easier to protect.

Last week, the Anglo-Dutch giant said it had completed the sale of its share of an onshore oil block in southern Nigeria, bringing to six the number of onshore lease assignments it has divested since 2010.

Hadi reveals Qaeda plans to bomb populous areas
[Yemen Post] President Abdurabu Mansour Hadi
...the second and possibly the last president of Yemen, successor to former President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh...
has revealed terrorist plans to explode car booms in populous areas in some major cities, the state news agency, Saba, said.

In a meeting with members of the Shoura Council on Sunday, Hadi said that terrorist plans were disclosed, pointing out that the plans aimed to carry out terrorist acts in Sana'a, Aden and Hadhramout.

Hadi called all Yemenis to be alert, pointing out that such terrorist acts will impact on Yemen's image internally and externally in case they are carried out.

According to Saba, Hadi said that a number of oil and mineral firms were affected by terror in Yemen, pointing out that al-Qaeda exploits young persons and give them fake and false promises.

He reaffirmed that Yemen faces political, economic and security crises, urging the members of Shura Council to use their knowledge and experience to contribute in solving Yemen's problems.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Esquimeau village our hero was receiving a quick lesson in aeronautics......
the president uncovered that the jacket wallah that carried out a terrorist bombing against a rehearsal parade at Al-Sabeen Square was a son of a colonel at Yemen's air forces.

About 100 soldiers were killed and hundreds more were maimed in the suicide kaboom occurred on May 21.

Interior Ministry had stated that it will declare outcomes of the bombing, but no results were declared so far.

Mossad agent arrested, Yemeni weekly claims
Elaborate report describes a Yemeni national smuggling Jewish children to Israel

Yemeni weekly reported Sunday that Yemen has placed in durance vile
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
an Israeli citizen working for the Mossad who headed an espionage ring in the country.

Al-Nas, a weekly associated with the Islamist Yemeni Reform Party, claims the man, identified only by his initials and year of birth, 1982, was placed in durance vile
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
in the southwestern city of Taizz. He reportedly admitted to smuggling children out of Yemen to neighboring countries and from there to Israel "through Zionist organizations." The report did not specify whether he was a Jew.

The Yemeni weekly released further details about the alleged spy: fatherless, he was raised by a Yemeni family in the Haima region, west of the capital Sanaa. At 17 he left Yemen for a Gulf country, where he contacted the American consulate, which took his DNA and sent him on to Israel.

In Israel, Al-Nas claims, the young man underwent "religious and basic studies" in a "settlement established by Yemeni Jews who emigrated to Paleostine." Israel subsequently gave the man a scholarship to study programming in Russia, where he reportedly learned computer hacking and received a stipend of $3,000 a month.

The man told his Yemeni interrogators that he spent three years in a Greek prison for researching the biographies of well-known computer hackers. He was then deported to Syria, claiming to be a Yemeni national. He spent one year in Syria after receiving a Yemeni passport from the Mossad to replace his Israeli one in which he was named "Abraham."

The Yemeni report could not be independently confirmed.

At least one gunfight took place last week in General Panfilo Natera municipality. The threat of armed confrontation was so severe that the Procuraduria General de Justicia de Estado (PGJE), Arturo Nahle Garcia, had ordered at curfew beginning at 1500 hrs a week ago.

A total of 16 unidentified men were found dead inside a truck in Guerrero state Monday morning, according to Mexican news accounts.

A story posted on the Animal Politico news website said that police in Coyuca de Catalan municipality were dispatched to the location based on an anonymous phone tip at around 1000 hrs.

According to a document uploaded by the Guerrero state Procuraduria General de Justicia Estado (PGJE), the victims had been tortured and then shot to death. They were found aboard a Ford F-350 one ton truck.

According to the Animal Politico article, Guerrero governor Angel Aguirre Rivera remarked that the victims were all from neighboring Michoacan state, and the victims were killed as a result of a intergang dispute.

Since last year and the destruction of La Familia Michoacana drug cartel, the vacuum created has allowed three competing criminal gangs, Los Zetas, Jalisco Nueva Generacion and Caballeros Templarios to fight for control of Michoacan state.

The last, the Caballeros Templarios, comprises many former leaders of La Familia Michoacana. One of the leaders, Servando Gomez Martinez AKA La Tuta, recently released a video essentially declaring war on Los Zetas and promising to kill its leader, Miguel Angel Trevino AKA Z40.

Alleged Hezbollah agents captured in Merida, Mexico
According to reports from Mexican media, an American citizen and two other presumed supporters of Hezbollah were captured on the evening of Saturday, September 8, in Mérida, the capital of Yucatan state in the south of Mexico.

Rafic Mohammad Labboun Allaboun, 44, was transferred on the morning of Sunday, September 9, to Houston, Texas, according to Mexican sources close to the operation, and has been remanded to El Paso, Texas, by the FBI for further investigation. He is suspected of being part of an Islamic terrorist cell that operates in Central America and the Yucatan.

Rafic Labboun is an imam from the Shiite Association Bay Area (SABA) Mosque in San Jose, California.

The arrests occurred as a part of a joint operation with local police and Mexico's Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM) in cooperation with the FBI and Homeland Security.

Last November, during a debate as part of the Republican Party nomination process, both Rick Perry, the governor of Texas, and Mitt Romney, the subsequent victor and now the Republican candidate for president of the United States, stated that Hezbollah was active in Mexico.

In response, Mexico's Secretary for External Affairs (Secretaria de Relaciones Exteriores), Patricia Espinosa, indicated that her government had no evidence indicating any activity by Islamist terrorist groups within Mexico.

However, last February Mexico's Secretary of State (Secretario de Gobernación), Alejandro Poiré, and the United States' Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano signed an agreement strengthening cooperation between the two governments in order to mitigate the threat of international terrorism.

Mexican sources claim that Rafic Mohammad Labboun Allaboun was carrying a false Belize passport and travelling under the name Wilhelm Dick.

Labboun recently served 27 months in U.S. prison for credit card fraud, which authorities suspected was used to fund Hezbollah. In total, Labboun moved $102,000 in credit card purchases of gold in Saudi Arabia by creating a false line of credit between several U.S. banks. The money ended up in Lebanon, and has never been recovered.

Labboun was only let out of prison this past summer. He was supposed to pay back the money as part of his three year probationary term. Instead, he took flight to Mexico on a false passport from Belize, possibly with the help of the two men he was arrested with.

The two other suspected Hezbollah agents, George Abdalah Elders and Justin Yasser Safa (aka Samer Yousef Safa), are citizens of Belize, and were also taken into custody during the same operation. Both were in possession of valid Mexican visas.

An INM employees, speaking on condition of anonymity, said "There was an immigration alert on Friday; it informed us that Rafic had been seen in Mérida."

But how did Labboun Allaboun get removed so promptly to the United States?

"They took him right away to Houston," said the source. "He went out on the first flight Sunday morning."

The source insisted that U.S. agents were not involved on the ground.

"It was migration agents from Yucatan, and state police."

At around 9 pm the operation closed in on the three men in the Francisco de Montejo neighbourhood in the northeast of Mérida. The men were detained at #56 and #58 on street 41-B.

Witnesses said that the Mexican authorities made quite a show of force. The Secretariat for Public Security (Secretaría de Seguridad Pública, or "SSP") used high-calibre weapons and even showed up with an armoured vehicle equipped with a Barrett fifty calibre machine gun.

Locals also said that members of the group may have had a small restaurant in Merida, named "Habibi" that closed recently.

The Grand Turk
Dozens Stand Trial in Turkey for Links to Kurdish Rebels
[An Nahar] Forty-four people, many of them journalists, went on trial in Turkey Monday for alleged links to outlawed Kurdish rebels amid protests from human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
activists and opposition politicians.

The suspects are accused of links with the Union of Kurdistan Communities (KCK), an organization deemed by the authorities to be the urban wing of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

"We will not yield to pressure," and "free press cannot be silenced!" shouted a group of demonstrators who gathered at the Istanbul court to protest the trial they deemed an attack against freedom of speech in Turkey.

Prosecutors accuse the 44 defendants of crimes including "membership in an armed organization," which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison, according to the Anatolia news agency.

At least 12 of the suspects face up to 22 and a half years in prison on charges of "forming and running an armed organization".

School blown up in Orakzai
As everyone knows, the real purpose of girls' schools in that part of the world is for bombing students to practice their placement skills.
[Dawn] Militants blew up a government primary school for girls in lower Orakzai Agency
... crawling with holy men, home to Darra Adam Khel, the world's largest illegal arms bazaar. 14 distinct tribes of beturbanned primitives inhabit Orakzai agency's 1500 or so square kilometers...
on Sunday, officials said.

They said that explosives were planted at the school, located near Khail Maat Shah village in Storikhel area, that went kaboom! before dawn. The school building was destroyed completely in the blast, they added.

Militants have destroyed 93 schools for boys and girls in the troubled tribal region so far. Officials said that around 10,000 students were affected owing to destruction of schools in the area.

Malik Ishaq released
[Dawn] A court released the founder of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi on bail Monday, about a week and a half after he was arrested because of a speech he made that authorities said incited sectarian hatred, said police officer Ejaz Shafi.

Bail was set at 500,000 rupees, about $5,280, Shafi said.

Police arrested Malik Ishaq in 1997, and he was accused in more than 200 criminal cases involving the killing of 70 Shias.

But the prosecution could never prove the charges, in part because of witness and judge intimidation, and he went free in 2011.

Also Monday, a radical prayer leader in Islamabad and 19 others were acquitted in the 2007 killing of a security officer, the cleric's lawyer said.

Car bomb kills 12 Shias in Parachinar: officials
[Dawn] A car boom destroyed a crowded market in a Pak tribal region bordering Afghanistan on Monday, killing 12 Shia Mohammedans in the latest instance of sectarian violence to rock this country, officials said.

In addition to the 12 killed in the kaboom in the town of Parachinar in the Kurram region, 45 people were maimed, said government official Sahibzada Anis. Another government official, Naseer Khan, said all of the dead were Shia Mohammedans.

Kurram is the only region along the Afghan border that is majority Shia, and has seen bloody outbreaks of sectarian violence in recent years.

The emergence over the last 10 years in Pakistain of groups such as al-Qaeda and the Pak Taliban has added to the frequency and viciousness of attacks against Shias.

In February, a suicide kaboomer on a cycle of violence went kaboom!" in Parachinar, killing 23 Shia Mohammedans and wounding 50 people.

Many of the recent sectarian killings in Pakistain have been blamed on the orc group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi
... a 'more violent' offshoot of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain. LeJ's purpose in life is to murder anyone who's not of utmost religious purity, starting with Shiites but including Brelvis, Ahmadis, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Rosicrucians, and just about anyone else you can think of. They are currently a wholly-owned subsidiary of al-Qaeda ...
, which is allied with al-Qaeda and the Taliban.

Iraq
Turkish Jets Strike Northern Iraq, Kill 25 Kurd Rebels
[An Nahar] Turkish air strikes killed 25 Kurdish rebels inside northern Iraq in the past few days as heavy army-rebel fighting inside Turkey killed at least 461 people this year, the army said Monday.

"An air operation has been staged against 14 targets of the separatist terrorist organization in the north of Iraq between September 5 and 9," the chief of staff said in an online statement.

"According to initial data, 25 Islamic fascisti have been rendered ineffective," a term often cited by the military for rebel deaths.

The army also added it destroyed dozens of rebel shelters, several ammunition depots and rebel anti-aircraft during the cross-border operation.

The statement came after an earlier announcement on casualty figures throughout the year inside the country.

According to the army figures, 461 people were killed this year in almost 1,000 operations in the country's southeast, reported the private NTV news channel.

Qaida Claims Latest Deadly Iraq Attacks
Al-Qaeda front organization the Islamic State of Iraq posted a claim on the Internet Monday for a wave of more than 30 attacks around the country that killed more than 88 people.

The bombings and shootings were in response to the "campaign of extermination and torture of Sunni Mohammedan detainees in Safavid prisons," the statement said in a pejorative reference to the Shiite-led government implying that it was under the domination of formerly Safavid-ruled neighboring Iran.

Iraq executed 26 convicts in August, many implicated in attacks claimed by Al-Qaeda.

"This message... will be followed by another. Today will be a new black day," the posting added.

The wave of attacks across Iraq killed 88 people and maimed more than 400 on Saturday and Sunday, security and medical sources said, with the security forces and markets among the targets.

The latest violence brings the number of people killed already this month to 118, according to an AFP tally.

While Death Eaters opposed to the Storied Baghdad
...located along the Tigris River, founded in the 8th century, home of the Abbasid Caliphate...
government are regarded as weaker than in past years, they are still capable of launching periodic mass-casualty attacks across the country.

The latest assaults came as Iraq's Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi, a leading Sunni, was sentenced in absentia on Sunday to hang for murder, although the carnage began hours before the sentence was handed down.

Southeast Asia
Thai talk with terrorists declared a success
A meeting between the Fourth Army region chief and 80 terrorists separatists in Narathiwat was considered a great success, Army commander General Prayuth Chan-ocha said Tuesday. The talk between Lt Gen Udomchai Thammasarorat and members of the RKK group was the result of coordination on both sides that had worked for sometime until the terrorists separatists began to trust the officials.

Prayuth said, "The talk had been prepared for a period of time but we could not reveal it to the public. The coordination was done through their families and society. The Army has always opened doors for them. What we want now is for them to surrender to the authorities while the punishment [they face] will be considered later but will be in line with the law."

He believed the RKK members decided to start talking with the Army because they had been horrified by the violence. They disagreed with the tactics, so they decided to surrender to the authorities while the group used all means to prevent them from doing that.

The Army chief confirmed the 80 were the real RKK members, saying checks were done and the results confirmed their status.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syria Rebels Execute 20 Soldiers in Aleppo
[An Nahar] Syrian rebels have summarily executed at least 20 soldiers in the embattled northern city of Aleppo
...For centuries, Aleppo was Greater Syria's largest city and the Ottoman Empire's third, after Constantinople and Cairo. Although relatively close to Damascus in distance, Aleppans regard Damascenes as country cousins...
, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Monday.

Captured at a military compound during a rebel attack in the eastern district of Hanano, the soldiers had their eyes blindfolded and hands tied behind their backs before they were lined up and shot, sometime over the weekend, Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman said.

Amateur video posted on YouTube and distributed by the Observatory shows some 20 bodies laid out next to each other on a pavement. Many of the men's heads are covered in blood, and some are wearing jeans rather than full military attire.

One of the rebels standing next to the bodies holds up his hand to make a victory sign. "holy shit! Allahu akbar!" (God is greatest), cries another, as a third shouts out at the bodies: "You dogs! You low lives!"

A U.N. inquiry has accused the army, pro-government militia and the rebels of committing war crimes but has said that violations by the rebels are on a much lower scale.
