Government forces take control of a town from Alshabab in Gedo Region
[Shabelle] News sources from Gedo region confirm that Government troops allied with Ahlu Suna forces fought against Alshabab fighters in a small town located between Gabaharey town and Burdubo district.

The fighting was confirmed to Shabelle by a government official who claimed that they took over the strategic town which connects several districts in Gedo region.

The officer added that they (Government forces) planned an assault on an Alshabab base located in the town forcing the Alshabab fighters to flee from the town;however the official did not report on any casualties from the side.

"We are advancing towards Burdubo town after we successfully captured this strategic town (Birta der)" said the government officer.

Government forces and Ahlu Sunna forces have reclaimed most districts in Gedo region as the only two remaining districts (Burdubo and Bardere) still fall under the control of Shabaab fighters.

Æthiopian troops reach Bakool region town of El Barde
HUDUR, Somalia -- Ethiopian troops in battle tanks reached Bakool regional district of El Barde in the early hours of Saturday morning according to witnesses, Garowe Online reports. Local reports say that Ethiopians entered the town with armored fighting vehicles and infantry divisions from different directions.

The move seems response to plea by Somali Federal Government officials in the region who recently stressed the need for heavily-equipped battalions to liberate Al Shabaab-held areas. Unlike El Barde, Qaeda linked Al Shabaab militants still maintain presence in the other districts of Bakool region of southern Somalia.

Ethiopian forces moved into Beled Hawo town of Gedo region in October to resolve grudges that degenerated into deadly battles between Somali Government troops and Ahlu Sunah Wal Jamea militias.

Ethiopia's Prime Minister Hailemarium Deselegn has so far confirmed that his troops will join African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) in an effort to dwindle Al Shabaab threats to the horn of Africa country and the region at large.

Ethiopian troops intervened southern Somalia in Dec-2006 and withdrew by Jan, 2009 but returned to Gedo, Hiran, Bay, Galgaduud and Bakool border regions in early 2012 in support of Somali government's stabilization operations.

Mine clearing operation kills Djiboutian soldier in Beledweyne
BELEDWEYNE -- Djiboutian soldier succumbed to injuries and two others were wounded during mine clearance operation in Hiraan regional capital of Beledweyne on Sunday, Garowe Online reports.

Djibouti peacekeepers in central Somalia have suffered the second death within a month as assault on police compound by Al Shabaab militants left Djiboutian soldier dead.

Residents clash with Azhar students in Nasr city
[Al Ahram] Clashes intensified late Sunday evening between Al-Azhar students and Nasr City residents on streets surrounding the university's dormitories, Al-Ahram's Arabic website reported.

The locals threw empty soda glass bottles at the students from the roofs of buildings, as a lack of security forces on the scene allowed the altercation to develop into a street battle.

Ahram Arabib website reported that angry locals searched other residential buildings for Azhar students and dragged some out of rented apartments.

Meanwhile,
...back at the revival hall, the SWAT team had finally arrived...
Deputy of the Cairo Security Directorate Yehia El-Eraki told Al-Ahram's Arabic website that security forces had managed earlier on Sunday to contain the unrest caused when 300 Al-Azhar students blocked the neighbourhood's main road.

He added that an atmosphere of cautioned silenced reigned on Sunday night around the dormitories, with security forces' armoured vehicles stationed at its entrances and exits.

Clashes between the security forces in front of the main gate of Al-Azhar University's student dormitory and the pro ousted president Mohammed Morsi
...the former president of Egypt. A proponent of the One Man, One Vote, One Time principle, Morsi won election after the deposal of Hosni Mubarak and jumped to the conclusion it was his turn to be dictator...
students started Sunday morning, with the police firing teargas and the students responding by throwing rocks at the security personnel.

The teargas caused tens of cases of faintings among students.

None of the students were placed in durance vile
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
, El-Eraki stated, and traffic resumed as normal, with shopkeepers in the immediate vicinity of the dormitories re-opening their stores.

Hundreds of students, mostly supporters of ousted president Morsi, have been enjugged
You have the right to remain silent...
in recent weeks as police continue a four-month-long crackdown on members of the Moslem Brüderbund.

Al-Azhar campus in Cairo has been the scene of ongoing protests by Islamist students since the start of its academic year in October.

On 21 November, a pro-Morsi student was rubbed out during festivities with security forces at Al-Azhar University.

Police officials deny using anything other than water cannons and teargas to disperse student protests.

Benghazi bomb kills mourner at murdered colonel's funeral
[Libya Herald] At least one person was killed when a boom-mobile went kaboom! as mourners left the Benghazi funeral of murdered intelligence officer Kamal Bazaza.

The blast which injured six others, two of them seriously, is believed to be the first time in Libya, that the tactic of bombing the funeral of a terror victim has been used. Such kabooms are common in Iraq.

The attack at around 1.00pm today occurred as scores of people where leaving the Al-Hawari cemetery where they had come to pay their respects to Bazaza, who died early today after being blown up in his car in the centre of Benghazi yesterday morning.

The man killed in the funeral blast was so badly injured he could not immediately be identified. There has been speculation that the blast had been caused by a jacket wallah but Benghazi's Joint Security Control Room later ruled this out, saying it was a remotely-detonated device.

Two suicide bombing attempts targeting the army thwarted in northern Sinai
[Egypt Independent] Military spokesperson Ahmed Mohammed Ali said that the armed forces thwarted two suicide kaboom attempts on Sunday targeting army troops in northern Sinai.

Ali posted on Facebook that the first attempt was a microbus laden with explosives targeting a camp near the city of Sheikh Zuwaid. The vehicle went kaboom! when shot at by troops He added that the DNA analyses of the terrorists' bodies are underway in order to identify them.

He also said that there was simultaneous attack attempt on troops on the Gora-Sheikh Zuwaid Road, where a silver Hyundai Verna car without license plates was parked to explode while the troops were passing. The car also went kaboom! when it was shot at.

North Sinai has become home to frequent attacks against the military since the ouster of President Mohammed Morsy. Most attacks have been drive-by shootings at military checkpoints by assailants on cycle of violences, who quickly speed away before authorities can pursue them.

Arabia
Yemen Evacuates Hundreds from Mortar-hit Gas Terminal
[An Nahar] Yemen LNG gas company has evacuated hundreds of workers from its Balhaf terminal on the Gulf of Aden, after a mortar round hit the site, an oil ministry official and employees said Sunday.

Company staff, including foreigners, were evacuated to the capital on four planes as a precaution over fears of potential attacks on the terminal, employees said.

The evacuation of non-essential staff, however, did not affect operations and liquefaction trains, which have a capacity of 6.7 million tonnes of LNG per year, the ministry official said.

He said the plant employs some 1,200 staff and that the partial evacuation was decided after a mortar shell hit the port.

Yemen LNG said a "minor kaboom occurred" inside the plant on Friday, adding that the blast caused only slight damage to non-essential equipment and that a probe has been initiated.

The Yemeni army deployed reinforcements around the sprawling site, where LNG exports were launched in 2009, military sources said.

La Belle France's Total and Texas-based Hunt hold shares in Yemen LNG.

The blast came a day after a massive attack on the defense ministry complex in Sanaa that left 56 people dead and was claimed by sl-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP).

President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi said in August that a bid to attack the Balhaf terminal had been foiled after a phone call was intercepted between al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri
... Formerly second in command of al-Qaeda, now the head cheese, occasionally described as the real brains of the outfit. Formerly the Mister Big of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. Bumped off Abdullah Azzam with a car boom in the course of one of their little disputes. Is thought to have composed bin Laden's fatwa entitled World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders. Currently residing in the North Wazoo area. That is not a horn growing from the middle of his forehead, but a prayer bump, attesting to how devout he is...
and the leader of the Yemeni branch of the jihadist network.

Sanaa also said it had foiled an al-Qaeda plot to storm the Canadian-run Mina al-Dhaba oil terminal and seize the port of al-Mukalla, capital of the eastern province of Hadramawt.

Bahrain Jails 12 Shiites over Attack on Police
[An Nahar] A Bahraini court on Sunday sentenced 12 Shiites, including three minors, to prison terms of up to five years for attacking a police patrol with Molotov cocktails, a judicial source said.

The nine adults were sentenced to five years in jail each while the three minors were handed down three-year sentences for the April 2012 attack in a Shiite suburb of Manama.

The jail terms are the latest to be handed down to Shiites accused of violence in the Sunni-ruled Gulf monarchy.

Two Yemen Officers Killed in Hit-and-Run Attacks
[An Nahar] Two Yemeni officers were killed Sunday in separate attacks targeting members of the security forces across the country, a security official and the defense ministry news website said.

In the first attack, unknown gunnies traveling in a car rubbed out the security chief of a presidential palace in Yemen's second-largest city Taez, the official said.

The officer was killed on the road as he was heading to work, the official said, without giving further details.

Meanwhile in the southern Bayda province, deputy police chief Abdullah Mohammed was killed in an "ambush by gunnies," the defense ministry's 26sep.net website said.

Members of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula are usually blamed for hit-and-run strikes on military personnel and officials that have intensified across the country.

The network rarely claims responsibility for such attacks but has announced it was behind a brazen daylight assault on the Yemeni defense ministry that killed 56 people on Thursday.

AQAP took advantage of a decline in central government control during Yemen's 2011 uprising to seize large swathes of territory across the south.

The hard boyz were driven back in June 2012 and the group has since been further weakened by U.S. drone strikes.

Yemen Socialist Party chief escapes assassin
[Al Ahram] Yemen's security officials say the leader of the country's Socialist Party has escaped an liquidation attempt, the third on him in recent months.

The officials said an unknown attacker fired a gun fitted with a silencer at Yassin Said Noaman while he was driving his car in Sanaa on Sunday. The gunman missed Noaman, who is also deputy head of the country's National Dialogue Conference, but shattered the car's windows.

The Socialist Party, which ruled southern Yemen before it merged with the north in 1990, is one of the largest in parliament.

Witness against Sayedee comes under attack
[Bangla Daily Star] A prosecution witness in the war crimes case against Jamaat leader Sayeedi was hacked in Pirojpur early yesterday, within 40 days of the attack on the house of another.

Though justice seekers and campaigners of war crimes trial keep demanding a law for the protection of witnesses and victims, no such step has yet been taken by the government.

A number of prosecution witnesses reportedly received death threats in the last two years and recently, bombs were blasted near the residences of several prosecutors.

Mostafa Hawlader, 55, who testified against Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayeedi
...Islamic orator and politician. He was a former Member of Parliament in the National Assembly of Bangladesh from 1996 to 2008, and is one of the most prominent leaders of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami...
, came under attack around 2:30am yesterday when he was asleep in his room.

A man entered the house in Hoglabunia village after digging a hole from outside and started hacking Mostafa targeting the head. The sharp weapon pierced the left side of the forehead, family members say.

The perpetrator vanished from sight as locals came hearing screams of Mostafa's wife Hasina, reports our Pirojpur correspondent.

The injured was rushed to Pirojpur Sadar Hospital. After primary treatment there, he was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital. Doctors at the hospital referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Execution order issued for Bangladesh JI leader
[Pak Daily Times] A Bangladeshi court on Sunday ordered prison authorities to hang an Islamist leader months after he was sentenced to death, raising fears of a new wave of festivities in the country. Abdul Quader Molla, a key leader of the Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
party, was given the death penalty in September when the Supreme Court toughened the life sentence originally handed down to him by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), a domestic war crimes court.

The ICT on Sunday "issued a warrant of execution for Molla", and sent it to the prison authorities, meaning the 65-year-old could now be executed any day unless he is pardoned by President Abdul Hamid or the case is reviewed by the highest court.

"The prison authorities will now execute him in line with the jail codes," prosecutor Zead Al Malum told AFP, stressing only a presidential clemency can stop the execution.

Deputy Law Minister Quamrul Islam told AFP Molla could be executed "in the shortest possible time". He did not give any time frame.

Defence lawyers said Molla's verdict can still be reviewed by the highest court. But Islam and prosecutors differed.

"It will be an act of murder if he is executed before the case is reviewed by the Supreme Court. It will be violation of the constitution," defence lawyer Tajul Islam told AFP.

Observers say Molla could be hanged on December 16 to commemorate Bangladesh's 1971 war against Pakistain.
Probably the current govt wants to stretch his neck before losing power to BNP, which would pardon him and let him go back to his work of religious subversion.

Baghdad area bombings kill at least 35
[Pak Daily Times] A wave of bombings mostly targeting Shiite areas in and around Storied Baghdad
...located along the Tigris River, founded in the 8th century, home of the Abbasid Caliphate...
killed at least 35 people Sunday as surging violence spurs concerns Iraq is falling back into all-out conflict.

The blasts, including seven boom-mobiles, are the latest in a months-long rise in bloodshed that has forced the authorities to appeal for international help just months before the country's first elections in four years.

Officials have pointed the finger at Al-Qaeda-linked Death Eaters emboldened by the civil war in neighbouring Syria, but analysts and diplomats say the government has not done enough to address underlying domestic problems fuelling the violence. At least 13 bombs went kaboom! from around mid-day (0900 GMT) across Storied Baghdad province, targeting mostly Shiite areas.

They killed at least 35 people and maimed more than 110 overall, according to security and medical officials.

The deadliest of the violence hit Al-Amil and Bayaa neighbourhoods in south Storied Baghdad, with separate bombings killing five people in each area. Interior ministry front man Saad Maan gave a far lower toll for the Storied Baghdad violence, saying three people were killed and 10 maimed.

Officially released corpse counts are consistently far lower than those from other sources, and the interior ministry has sharply criticised media organizations for reporting figures higher than those it gives.

Attacks also hit areas outside the Iraqi capital.

A boom-mobile went kaboom! near Baquba, north of Storied Baghdad, killing one person and wounding four, while a roadside kaboom in the northern city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
maimed five people.

And in Basra province in south Iraq, security officials said a roadside kaboom went kaboom! near an Aegis private security company convoy, causing no casualties. Sunday's bombings came a day after attacks nationwide killed 16 people, nine of whom were rubbed out at alcohol shops in Storied Baghdad. With the latest attacks, the corpse count for the first eight days of this month has already surpassed that for the entire month of December last year, according to AFP figures based on security and medical sources.

Violence in Iraq has reached a level this year not seen since 2008, when the country was just emerging from a brutal period of rampant sectarian killings.

Unrest spiked after security forces stormed a Sunni Arab protest camp north of Storied Baghdad in April, sparking festivities that killed dozens of people.

Members of the country's Sunni minority, who complain of discrimination at the hands of the Shiite-led government, have held demonstrations for almost a year. The government has made some concessions aimed at placating Sunni Arabs, including freeing prisoners and raising the salaries of anti-Al-Qaeda gunnies, and has also trumpeted security operations against hard boys.

But daily attacks have shown no sign of abating, and violence has killed more than 6,300 people since the beginning of the year, AFP figures show.

Despite a near-ubiquitous security force presence, attacks have hit targets ranging from cafes and football fields to military checkpoints and government vehicles.

The violence has forced the authorities to appeal for international help, and Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki used a trip to Washington to call for the timely delivery of new weapons and increased intelligence cooperation. La Belle France and Turkey have also both offered assistance.

Assad's forces kill five children in Syria

have killed at least five children during fighting for the town of Nabak north of the capital Damascus, activists said on Sunday.

The fighting in Nabak pits Assad's army and allied militia against rebel factions including two linked to al Qaeda, the Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a British-based pro-opposition monitoring group, said five children were rubbed out when pro-Assad forces entered Nabak's industrial area.

Activists posted images on social media of the bloodied corpses of five children and said up to seven had been killed. Some blamed a Shi'ite militia for the killings, but this could not be confirmed. The rebels are mostly Sunni Musselmens.

"What we know is that they (the children) were killed by shooting," Rami Abdulrahman, the Observatory's director, said.

Rooters could not independently verify the reports.

Nabak lies 80 km (50 miles) north of Damascus on Syria's north-south highway linking the capital to the central city of Homs and the coastal heartland of Assad's minority Alawite sect.

Fighting in the area intensified last month when the government launched an offensive to secure towns along the road.

The Observatory said pro-government forces shelled the eastern areas of Nabak and raided homes in the western areas as festivities continued on Sunday. Fighters from the Lebanese Shi'ite group Hezbollah joined in on the government side, it added.

The state news agency SANA made no mention of casualties, but said the army was carrying out operations in the area and had eliminated "armed terrorist groups" around Nabak.

overnight three Syrians carrying light arms and communication devices trying to cross the border through an illegal crossing in the Bekaa Valley, the state-run National News agency reported Sunday.

NNA said the three men were arrested when trying to infiltrate from the northeastern border town of Arsal to the Syrian town of Qara.

Also Sunday, NNA that the army arrested at the Wadi Hmeid checkpoint in Arsal four Syrians, who were carrying arms, bombs, hands grenades and military gear, in the silver Kia they were riding.

Among them is a woman, said the agency.

Later on Sunday, an army statement said "the army checkpoint in the Wadi Hmeid-Arsal area stopped a Kia car carrying no license plates which came from Syrian territory."

The car was transporting "four Syrian nationals who were not carrying any identification papers and personal firearms and a number of hand grenades were seized in their possession," the statement added.

"The detainees and the confiscated weapons were referred to the relevant authorities," it said.

Qara lies in Syria's mountainous region of Qalamoun, where regime forces have launched an offensive against rebels.

The town lies 12 kilometers from the border with Syria and has been used as a conduit for weapons and rebels to enter Syria, while also serving as a refuge for people fleeing the conflict.

The town has seen a massive influx of refugees in the past weeks as a result of the heavy fighting in Qalamoun.

Syria Regime Forces Advance in Region on Lebanon Border
[An Nahar] Syrian regime forces made gains Sunday in the key town of Nabuk, one of the last rebel-held areas in the Qalamoun region bordering Leb, a watchdog said.

"There is fierce fighting in Nabuk between government forces, backed by Hizbullah fighters, and al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The monitor, which relies on activists and medics on the ground for its information, said Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Scourge of Qusayr...
's troops have taken "new sectors of the town."

Regime forces have surrounded and pounded Nabuk for the past two weeks.

"The Syrian army is continuing to rake orchards in Nabuk, and has discovered a terrorist lair containing medical equipment and drugs," state television

said.

"Terrorists" is the term used by Damascus to refer to the armed opposition battling to bring down Assad's regime for nearly three years.

The Observatory, which relies on activists and medics on the ground for its information, said regime troops had "executed five civilians, including two children," in Nabuk.

Activists said they were able to transport the bodies to Yabrud, a nearby area held by rebels, and they uploaded pictures on social media that they said showed the bloodied corpses of the two children, one of which had a head wound.

Taking the Nabuk area would cement regime control of territory linking Damascus province with Homs province in central Syria.

In northern Syria, meanwhile, the corpse count from regime air raids on the jihadist-held town of Raqa has risen to 18, the Observatory said, updating an earlier toll of 14.

Five women and six people under the age of 18 were among the dead, the Britannia-based group said.

Al-Manar: 4 Booby-Trapped Vehicles Bound for Lebanon Seized in Nabuk
[An Nahar] Hizbullah's al-Manar television on Sunday broadcast a video showing four booby-trapped vehicles seized by the Syrian army in the key town of Nabuk, one of the last rebel-held areas in the Qalamoun region bordering Leb.

Al-Manar said the explosive-rigged vehicles were prepared to be used in kabooms in Leb.

The vehicles -- two vans, an ambulance and a Hyundai car -- were supposed to enter the country via the Bekaa border town of Arsal, al-Manar added.

On Tuesday, Hizbullah chief His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
said three booby-trapped cars were found in a warehouse in Nabuk.

"Most of the booby-trapped cars that were sent to Leb came from Yabrud and Nabuk via Arsal," Nasrallah added, noting that had Hizbullah refrained from intervening militarily in Syria's Qusayr and Qalamoun areas, "dozens and hundreds of explosive-rigged cars would have entered Leb."

On November 22, a car rigged with hundreds of kilograms of explosives was found between the towns of Maqne and Younine in the eastern Bekaa Valley. The incident came three days after jacket wallahs blew themselves up outside the Iranian embassy in Beirut, killing 25 people and wounding 147 others.

And on October 14, a booby-trapped car was found in Beirut's southern suburb of al-Maamoura, a Hizbullah stronghold. Earlier this year, two bombings rocked the Beirut southern suburbs of Bir al-Abed and Rweiss, killing and wounding dozens of people.

Syrian regime forces made gains Sunday in the town of Nabuk, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

"There is fierce fighting in Nabuk between government forces, backed by Hizbullah fighters, and al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant," the Observatory said.

Top Hizbullah Military Commander Ali Bazzi Killed in Syria Fighting
[An Nahar] A top military commander of Hizbullah died in fighting Sunday in Syria, a Lebanese security source said.

"Ali Bazzi, a high-ranking Hizbullah military commander, was killed today in a combat zone," the source said without specifying the location.

Earlier the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that four Hizbullah fighters died Sunday during battles in Nabuk, one of the last rebel-held areas in the Qalamoun region bordering Leb.

"There is fierce fighting in Nabuk between government forces, backed by Lebanese Hizbullah fighters, and al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant," said the watchdog.

A website for Bint Jbeil, Bazzi's hometown in southern Leb, also announced the commander's death and posted pictures of him in military garb and holding an automatic rifle.

"Ali Hussein Bazzi... died a martyr as he was carrying out his sacred duty as a jihadist," read the announcement.

Meanwhile residents of southern Leb said that two other Hizbullah fighters -- Ali Saleh and Qassem Ghamloosh -- were also killed in Syria on Sunday and buried.

Hizbullah chief His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
has repeatedly defended his group's involvement in Syria.

On Tuesday he said in an interview with OTV that Hizbullah is fighting in Syria to protect Leb from the Syrian rebels, who include jihadists linked to al-Qaeda.

Hours after that interview Hizbullah announced the death of one of its top military commanders, Hassan al-Laqqis, saying he was rubbed out near Beirut and blaming Israel for his murder.

And on November 28, the southern town of Rishknaniyeh held a funeral for Wissam Sharafeddine, another prominent Hizbullah field commander in Damascus' countryside.

Syrian regime forces made gains Sunday in the key town of Nabuk, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Regime forces have surrounded and pounded Nabuk for the past two weeks.

Taking the Nabuk area would cement regime control of territory linking Damascus province with Homs province in central Syria.

Also on Sunday, Hizbullah's al-Manar television broadcast a video showing four booby-trapped vehicles, saying they were seized by the Syrian army in Nabuk and they that were destined to be used in kabooms in Leb.

"Most of the booby-trapped cars that were sent to Leb came from Yabrud and Nabuk via Arsal," Nasrallah said on Tuesday, noting that had Hizbullah refrained from intervening militarily in Syria's Qusayr and Qalamoun areas, "dozens and hundreds of explosive-rigged cars would have entered Leb."

- Hezb commanders are fearless in leading their troops

- Hezb regular troops are 'hanging back' and need to be led into combat
