US drone crashes in southern Afghanistan
[Iran Press TV] A drone belonging to US forces has crashed in Afghanistan's troubled southern province of Kandahar, local security sources say.

The aircraft reportedly went down in the Panjwai district on Sunday. Local Afghan officials have confirmed the incident.

The US military on the other hand is yet to comment on the incident. Local media reports say the US-led foreign troops have already collected the wreckage of the drone and taken it to a military base.

Shaboobs whacked in Bakool
In their latest clash, soldiers of the Somali National Army backed by Ethiopian troops serving under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) fought with armed Al-Shabaab assailants today in Burduhul, a town in-between Yeed and Wajid after an AMISOM convoy was attacked by the insurgents.

Several of the Al-Shabaab fighters were killed in the battle whereby dozens of others were wounded. Somali government officials have confirmed that the co-allied Ethiopian and Somali National Army troops were successful in triumphing over the fight.

The atmosphere now is reported to be serene although civilians in Burduhul have voiced their concerns of possible brawls in the near future.
I love this guy's command of the good English...
Somali government officials believe that the Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab terrorist group are determined to retaliate against AMISOM and government troops after the liberations of towns in the Bakool region they used to control, as reported to Shabelle.

Egypt arrests suspected militant who fought in Syria
[Al Ahram] Egypt's Suez public prosecution ordered the detention of Mohammed Abdel-Fattah for 15 days pending investigations on charges of plotting terrorist attacks in Egypt, reported state-owned news agency MENA.

Abdel-Fattah, 38, who allegedly just returned from Syria after fighting for the jihadist Al-Nusra Front, is charged with coordinating with bully boy groups to carry out attacks in various Egyptian governorates.

Security forces confiscated documents and pictures of targeted locations found with the defendant.

A security source told MENA that the defendant left Egypt two years ago to join the fighting in Syria and only returned home recently.

Since former Islamist president Mohammed Morsi
...the former president of Egypt. A proponent of the One Man, One Vote, One Time principle, Morsi won election after the deposal of Hosni Mubarak and jumped to the conclusion it was his turn to be dictator...
's ouster, Egypt has seen a spike in terrorist attacks on security installations and personnel. According to an official statement last month, the attacks have killed over 469 people since July 2013.

The attacks, which initially began in the restive Sinai Peninsula, eventually spread across several governorates, including the capital.

Libya PM quits, says was victim of 'traitorous' attack
[Beirut Daily Star] Libya's prime minister Abdullah al-Thani stepped down on Sunday, saying he and his family had been the victims of a "traitorous" armed attack the previous day.

Thani quit less than a week after parliament tasked him with forming a new cabinet and a month after it ousted his predecessor for failing to rein in the lawlessness gripping the North African country.

He said in a statement that he would not accept the premiership after a "traitorous attack" on himself and his family, but he would stay on in a caretaker capacity until a new prime minister is appointed.

Amid controversy over his appointment, Thani, who was defence minister under ousted premier Ali Zeidan, was named on Tuesday.

"I will not accept Libyans killing each other over this post," Thani said in his statement addressed to the General National Congress (GNC).

Thani said the attack on Saturday had terrorised inhabitants of a residential district and "put the lives of some of them at risk", without giving specific details.

A source close to Thani told AFP that the incident took place on the road from the capital to its airport and caused no casualties.

5 terrorists killed in security raid in Sinai
Five terrorists extremists were killed and four others were arrested on Sunday in a security raid on their hideouts in major cities in Egypt's North Sinai province, a security source told Xinhua.

"The terroristsextremists exchanged fire with the police-security forces south of southern Sheikh Zuweid city that lead to their death," the source said, noting the terroristsgunmen belonged to al-Qaida-inspired, Sinai-based Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis group.

The raid is part of a massive security campaign in the Sinai Peninsula where terrorist attacks escalated following the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi by the military last July. Dozens of terroristsextremists were killed and hundreds arrested as a result.

The removal of the Islamist president angered terroristsextremist groups that have been launching terrorist attacks against security personnel and facilities in the Sinai, the capital Cairo and some other provinces, leaving dozens killed and hundreds injured as well.

Boko Haram massacres students, kills 200 others in Borno
[NATIONALMIRRORONLINE.NET] Many students travelling at the weekend to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, in Borno State, were reportedly killed by the dreaded Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
sect, in various attacks believed to have claimed over 200 lives in the past two days.

The UTME, conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) was held nationwide yesterday. The students, according to sources, bit the dust as the sect embarked on multiple attacks that affected no fewer than four communities in the state.

Sources disclosed that the turbans laid in ambush for the students, who were in eight vehicles and who were on their way to Biu from Maiduguri, to write the exams. It could not be ascertained if all the students in the eight vehicles were killed during the attacks.

Reacting to the incident, the Senator representing Borno Central, Zannah Ahmed, told journalists on Friday that at least 210 people have been killed so far in the attacks that lasted between Thursday night and Friday morning. Ahmed said he smelt a rat as some of the attackers mostly wore military uniforms and spoke English language, contrary to the traditional Hausa and Kanuri languages usually spoken by the Death Eaters.

The two-day attacks, he said, were unleashed on communities such as Dikwa, Kala Balge, Gambulga and Gwoza.

The senator complained, lamenting that the military authorities in Gamboru did not respond to the distress call from the locals of Kala Balge when the turbans besieged their community.

Ahmed said he had to speak up because the rate at which his people were being massacred on daily basis had become worrisome, saying "what happened in Borno is beyond understanding.

"It is a must for me to speak since the people's lives are involved and they are my people. All these are happening in my constituency and it will be wrong to keep quiet. I feel so much pained and would not have spoken but definitely my conscience will not let me do that," he lamented.

Senator Ahmed further disclosed those who massacred about 210 persons in his area stormed the communities in two armored personnel cars and seven double cabin pickups.

He said they descended on a Teachers College in Dikwa, killing seven people, before burning down the school library and administrative block.

According to him, Kala Balge was the most hit community as 60 people were killed there by the Death Eaters. From Kala Balge, he said the attackers proceeded to three other towns where no fewer than 150 persons were slaughtered.

Efforts to contact the Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, on the latest attacks proved abortive as he could not be reached on phone.

At least 60 killed by suspected Islamists in Nigeria

... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
Islamists on Sunday killed at least 60 people in Nigeria's troubled northeastern Borno state close to the border with Cameroon, a local official said.

"The attackers, who are no doubt Boko Haram myrmidons, attacked Amchaka and nearby villages this morning, hurling IEDs (improvised bombs) into homes and setting them on fire," Baba Shehu Gulumba, Bama local government administrator, told AFP.

"They then went on a shooting spree, opening fire on confused residents as they tried to flee, killing 60 people and injuring several others," Gulumba said from Maiduguri, the state capital.

Oh, we are in trouble!
Spokesman Major General Mansour Turki said five Saudi citizens and one Bahraini were tossed into the calaboose in the operation after police uncovered 22.6 million amphetamine pills hidden inside coils of barbed wire and rolls of plastic.

Drug smuggling can be punished by death in the conservative Islamic kingdom. All narcotics and alcohol are illegal in Saudi Arabia, which has a young population and applies sharia (strict Islamic law).

An investigation into the seizure of the drugs turned up a connection to an international drug smuggling ring led by a Syrian national, Turki told the state news agency SPA.

A total of 10 individuals, eight of whom were from the same family were found dead or were killed in armed confrontations in Durango state since Saturday, according to Mexican news accounts.

In a news report which appeared in El Diario de Coahuila news daily, eight siblings were found shot to death in Pueblo Nuevo municipality Saturday.

According to the report the dead were from the Duran Chamorro family and were found in the village of Balontita, which is near the border with Santa Rosario municipality in Sinaloa state. A few of the dead were identified unofficially as Eusiquia, Bernardo, Erika, "Chuya", Cruz, Cecilia, Hermelinda and Samuel.

Also in Pueblo Nuevo, although the news report failed to state when, an individual identified as Fidel Ortega, 44, was shot to death in the village of Los Naranjos.

A Mexican Army road patrol engaged and killed one armed suspect near the village of La Puerta in Pueblo Nuevo. Another man, identified as Lamberto Sarabia Cabrera, 20, was wounded in the encounter.

The 10 dead in Pueblo Nuevo municipality is the worse death toll since 2012, when a total of six armed suspects were killed in an intergang shootout in 2012. A total of nine individuals were killed in that municipality in 2012.

Pueblo Nuevo sits astride Mexico Federal Highway 40, which links the Pacific seaport of Mazatlan to Durango city and points east.

Reports indicate that three people were killed and another seriously wounded in two shootings in two Jewish centers in Kansas, local media reported. A suspect has been arrested and was heard yelling "heil Hitler" as he was taken into custody.

KSHB reported that one person is in custody following multiple shootings reported at the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park and Village Shalom.
The latter is a retirement community...
Overland Park Police confirmed that multiple shots were fired at the JCC center and the retirement home.

It is unclear whether the incidents are related, though a KCTV reporter claimed "a man in handcuffs at the scene was yelling about Hitler." Additional reports claimed the man was heard yelling "heil Hitler."
Update1: Breitbart adds:
Grandfather, grandson killed at KC Jewish Center: neither was Jewish.

The alleged shooter, a man in his 70s, was not from Kansas and used a shotgun in the attack. He had a handgun in his possession when he was arrested, the Star reports.
Update2: The Kansas City Star reports:
A 73-year-old southwest Missouri man with a long history of anti-Semitism is suspected of killing two people outside Overland Park’s Jewish Community Center and then a third at a nearby Jewish assisted living facility.

After officers arrested Frazier Glenn Cross — an Aurora, Mo., man better known as F. Glenn Miller — Sunday afternoon, authorities said he went on a rant inside the patrol car.

Sharif approves release of 12 Taleban prisoners
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved release of 12 Taleban prisoners as a goodwill gesture for bolstering the peace process, Dawn reported Sunday.

The daily sited sources as saying that the 12 “low profile suspected militants” held by security agencies could be released in next couple of days to meet a key demand of the Taleban.
How is it that the TTP gets what they want and the rest of the country gets nothing?
The Tehreek-i-Taleban Pakistan (TTP) leadership recently handed over a list of prisoners to the government negotiating team, the report said.

“None of those to be released is important,” the report said.
We'll be the judge of that...
The TTP on Friday presented two conditions for the talks to continue - immediate release of non-combatant prisoners and declaration of a peace zone where the militants can freely move about.
Sounds like the "peace zone" is more like a "good hunting zone" for our drones...

Iraq
Terrorist attacks in Iraq leave 24 people dead
[Iran Press TV] At least two dozen people have been killed in a series of terrorist attacks in northern Iraq, in a surge of violence ahead of the country's parliamentary elections.

According to Iraqi officials, 11 people, including five soldiers, bit the dust when a boom-mobile blasted near a security checkpoint in the city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, northwest of the capital Storied Baghdad on Sunday.

In a separate incident in the city, a boom-mobile kaboom in a market area left six people dead and nearly 10 others injured.

Meanwhile in Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
a blast targeting a security checkpoint in the northwestern part of the city killed seven coppers. Eleven coppers were also maimed in the kaboom.

Earlier in the day, a kaboom targeted the convoy of Iraq's Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi in Kirkuk, but he escaped unharmed.

On Friday, unknown gunnies attacked the convoy of Deputy Prime Minister Saleh al-Mutlaq, who escaped the liquidation attempt in the Abu Ghraib area west of Storied Baghdad unhurt.

Violence has been on the rise in Iraq as the country prepares for parliamentary polls set for April 30.

Analysts say terrorist groups such as the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant

Abu Sayyaf militant killed in Basilan clash
A suspected Abu Sayyaf rebel was killed in a clash with Philippine troops in Patikul, Sulu on Saturday.

Brig. Gen. Martin Pinto said soldiers encountered the gunmen led by Abu Sayyaf sub-leaders Basaron Aruk and Ninok Sappari at around 5 p.m. He said the gun battle lasted for 30 minutes and left a militant killed.

Pinto said, "After the firefight, the Abu Sayyaf withdrew towards the direction of Barangay Tugas in the same municipality bringing along with them an undetermined number of their wounded members."

Troops found bloodstains in the area where the bandits withdrew.

The firefight occurred on the same day officials announced the end of clashes with the Abu Sayyaf in Basilan. The clashes started last Friday and have left at least 10 militants and two soldiers dead and 29 military personnel injured.

Three Army officers are said to be among the soldiers who were injured in the clashes with the group of Abu Sayyaf commanders Nurhasan Jamiri, Bashir Kasaran, Ibrahim Malat and Furuji Indama.

Sources previously said that commanders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) were dragged into the clash as most of their relatives are also with the Abu Sayyaf.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syria planes hit rebel bastions in Damascus province
[Al Ahram] Syrian warplanes on Sunday launched an offensive against a string of opposition bastions on the edges of the capital, including the besieged Eastern Ghouta area, a monitoring group said.

"Warplanes carried out two air strikes against areas of Douma," northeast of Damascus, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

"Three children and four men were killed," it said.

One of the strikes on Douma, an opposition stronghold since early in the revolt against Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Before going into the family business Pencilneck was an eye doctor. If he'd stuck with it he'd have had a good practice by now...
, hit a crowded marketplace, said the Syrian Revolution General Commission, a network of activists on the ground.

Douma and other towns and villages in Eastern Ghouta have been under army siege for a year.

The Observatory also reported air strikes against Hammuriyeh, east of Damascus, and highly destructive barrel kabooms on Daraya, an opposition bastion southwest of the capital.

The air raids came as fighting raged on the edges of Daraya between rebels and the army, which for more than a year has battled to secure the capital.

Other air strikes targeted Mleiha, also in Eastern Ghouta, while festivities on the town's edges pitted rebels and their jihadist Al-Nusra Front allies against the army and its Lebanese Shiite ally Hezbollah, the Observatory said.

Mleiha has suffered heavy bombing for 10 consecutive days, as the army and Hezbollah attempt to break through rebel lines.

The Observatory said regime forces on Sunday took control of areas on Mleiha's edges.

North of the capital, the army overran a string of hills overlooking Rankus, a former opposition stronghold in the strategic Qalamun mountains that fell to the regime last Wednesday, state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
reported.

State news agency SANA, meanwhile, reported "the death of a young man and the wounding of 22 others" in a mortar attack launched by "terrorists" in central Damascus.

State media uses the regime's term "terrorists" to refer to rebels fighting to topple Assad's regime.

Damascus comes under frequent mortar fire. Sunday's attack hit Beirut Street, located near the army command headquarters.

The Observatory said two people were killed in the attack.

In northern Syria's Aleppo, fighting raged around the intelligence headquarters, which rebels have been trying to seize from regime hands, said the Observatory.

It said helicopters pressed the regime's months-old aerial offensive on Aleppo's rebel districts, killing two children and a man on Sunday.

The latest deaths come a day after 11 people including three children were killed in helizaps using barrel bombs packed with explosives on opposition areas of Aleppo, according to the Observatory.

Militant mortar shells kill five people in Syria

faceless myrmidons in Syria have hit several residential areas in different cities across the country, killing five civilians and injuring dozens of others.

One of the mortar shells landed on a bus in the Syrian capital city of Damascus, killing a girl, Syria's state news agency, SANA, reported on Sunday, citing a source at Damascus Police Command.

The report added that a woman and a child were killed in another mortar attack on the al-Na'ourah neighborhood in the city of Idlib.

Two other people bit the dust in a similar assault on the al-Ensha'at neighborhood in the city of Homs.

Cities and towns across Syria have frequently come under mortar and rocket fire by the foreign-sponsored faceless myrmidons since crisis erupted in the Arab country over three years ago.

On April 8, a number of mortar shells fired by the faceless myrmidons struck the New Aleppo neighborhood of the city of Aleppo, killing two civilians.

On April 6, mortar attacks targeting populated areas in the capital left two other civilians dead.

Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since 2011. Over 150,000 people have reportedly been killed and millions displaced due to the violence fueled by Western-backed turbans.

According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Soddy Arabia

The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and Turkey -- are supporting the faceless myrmidons operating inside Syria.
