[Libya Herald] Al-Watan radio presenter Mutassim Al-Warfali was shot and killed in Benghazi last night, the sixth victim in two days of a targeted liquidation, as members of the security services, civilians and public figures alike are killed with impunity.
Warfali was shot by gunnies yesterday evening as he travelled in the Salmani district. Medical sources explained that he had had multiple gunshot wounds. His assailants have not been identified.
A well known and recognisable figure in Benghazi, Warfali's killing has reignited anger over the murders of prominent teenage activists Tawfik Ben Saud and Sami Elkawafi last month. The two were killed with ten others in a day of unprecedented violence in Benghazi.
That day of brutal killings has since been dubbed "black Friday" and appeared, as with these latest attacks, to be part of a city-wide campaign of intimidation, orchestrated by hard boys.
Also killed yesterday evening was Salim Al-Warfali, no direct relation to Mutassim, in Ras Obeida, staff at Benghazi Medical Centre (BMC) said. Warfali, a private citizen, reportedly had some connection to Salafist groups in Benghazi.
Salafists ...Salafists are ostentatiously devout Moslems who figure the ostentation of their piety gives them the right to tell others how to do it and to kill those who don't listen to them... have regularly been targeted in the city for their allegiance to Operation Dignity.
Army officer Ibrahim Belgasam was killed in Gunfudah yesterday. A resident of the city's Majouri district, one of his neighbours, who did not wish to be identified, said he had been shot several times by unknown assailants.
Further details are yet to emerge surrounding the killings of two more individuals on Tusday night. Salim Rajab was murdered in the Shebna area . He had formerly been employed by Benghazi's Crisis Committee. Ismail Aguili was shot and killed by gunnies as he travelled through the Islamist stronghold of Laithi, also on Tuesday night.
Saiqa Special Forces ...Libya's elite army unit, insofar as they have one, formed from a mixture of paratroopers and commandos. The group emerged from a militia with the same name in 2010. It now numbers a few thousand and reports to the Ministry of Defence. It deployed in Benghazi in an attempt to control the carnage. As a result, it has been attacked and several of its officers murdered. The force is popular in Benghazi for its stance against Ansar al-Sharia group... member Muftah Al-Drissi was found dead in the Sabri district of Benghazi on Tuesday. Medical staff at BMC are awaiting the results of forensic tests to assertain exactly how Drissi died although it is believed he was deliberately targeted.
Two combatants from opposing sides in battles at Benina Airport which have raged now for a week were also killed.
The body of Saleem Nabous, a prominent member of the Benghazi Revolutionaries' Shoura Council was received at the BMC. An Islamist fighter, Nabous was the commander of a lesser known brigade, the Zintan Martyrs' Brigade.
Mohammed Hammed Recep Najam, an Operation Dignity soldier, was also rubbed out near Benina.
The ongoing festivities in and around Benina, which appear at least for the moment to have died down, have been blamed by many for much of the instability in Benghazi in recent months.

[Libya Herald] Operation Dignity has claimed that yesterday evening its air forces bombed and sank a ship as it attempted to gain entry to Benghazi Port.
The Commander of Operation Dignity's Airforce, Adam Saqr Geroushi, told the Libya Herald that aircraft under his orders had carried out the strikes on the vessel at 5:00 pm.
Geroushi said that Operation Dignity had announced repeatedly that it would bomb any ships attempting to resupply the forces of Benghazi Revolutionaries' Shoura Council (BRSC) by sea.
The Arclight Arclight airstrikes took place roughly 50 kilometres away from the port, Geroushi said. He explained that the boat had been just off the coast of Gunfudah, and believed that the ship's crew must have perished in the attack.
Last month Operation Dignity bombed the port itself although causing only minimal damage.
At the beginning of August Operation Dignity reiterated its warning that it would use force against any vessels entering Libyan ports without proper clearance. The announcement followed a series of skirmishes in and around the port of Benghazi which finally saw the BRSC coalition forces take control of the facility.
In June, the pro-government forces destroyed two fishing trawlers, already inside the port of Derna, as they allegedly attempted to unload weapons and ammunition.

[ABNA.IR] Al-Qaeda gunnies attacked government and security buildings in the southern town of al-Bayda on Wednesday. The attack killed a minimum of four soldiers, before security forces beat back the al-Qaeda gunnies.
The attack by al-Qaeda was one of the first by the Al-Qaeda Arabian Peninsula since the Shi'ite Moslem Houthis took control of Sanaa the capital late in September pledging they would destroy the Yemen wing of the krazed killer movement.
The Houthis on Tuesday rejected President of Yemen Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi's appointment of a different Prime Minister and vowed they would resist it, laying the ground for more political standoffs.

Sources reported that the planning, which was due to imitate the killings of Alan Hennings and David Haines in Syria, was at its early stages but public safety was of paramount concern. The latest threat, called 'lone wolf attack', requires very little planning and only one knife or one firearm.
In recent months, security measures have been stepped up, with Cameron warning that IS (Islamic State) is getting ready to target Britannia. Last week a video was released on social networking by an ex-Morrison supermarket worker encouraging Moslem fanatics to join together and attack Britannia. He called for 'all the brothers in the UK to rise up', urging Moslems in the recording to go to Syria and join IS. He continued by saying: "if you cannot travel to Syria, then you can cause terror right from within".

[IsraelTimes] Police in London on Thursday said they had tossed in the clink Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages! a fifth British man on suspicion of Islamist-linked "terrorism" after saying earlier they had managed to avert a "significant plot."
The 20-year-old was arrested "on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism," the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
The police said he was arrested on Tuesday along with the other four, but this was not revealed "for operational reasons."
"A number of residential addresses and vehicles were searched by specialist officers in West and Central London as part of the investigation. These searches are now complete," it said.
The five are being held in central London cop shoppes and the police have a warrant to hold them until October 14.
Of the other four, two are aged 20 and two aged 21. One of the 21-year-olds was tasered during his arrest, the police said.
British media named the man who was tasered as 21-year-old medical student Tarik Hassan, and said he was arrested on a housing estate in the Ladbroke Grove area of west London.
Hassan, known as "the surgeon" among his friends, is reported to have traveled to Syria and met with terrorist elements there.

Officials said 103 people have been arrested this year after returning from Syria and five of those convicted.

A Whitehall source said officers believe the raids were an "early disruption" of what could have been a "significant plot".
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe described the operation as "quite serious".

On the day he was arrested, Hassan reportedly tweeted "I smell war." His friends told the Times the tweet referred to a dispute with a group of girls and was not an indication of a plot to attack the UK.
Neighbors described a young man who grew increasingly devout over the past few months. While in Sudan, Hassan "was known to associate with some Salafist or fundamentalist students," The Telegraph reported.
According to the Daily Mail, Hassan also used social media to call on followers to pray for jihadi fighters in Syria and to allegedly ridicule a female Kurdish fighter beheaded by an Islamic State jihadist.
Police commissioner Hogan-Howe told BBC radio the arrests involve a "quite serious case." He said police are taking a more aggressive stance because of the increased threat linked to the fighting in Iraq and Syria.

[NewsCorp] AUTHORITIES have intercepted 11 terror suspects at Melbourne and Sydney airports in less than a month.
NEWS Corp Australia reports some of the suspects were carrying images of beheadings on electronic devices.
Multi-agency officers, including Customs and Border Protection, the Australian Federal Police or new Counter-Terrorism Units, also seized tens of thousands of dollars in undeclared cash.
The suspects were intercepted for a range of reasons, including being caught with violent material or luggage and visa inconsistencies.
Three devices were seized and other people were issued infringement notices, while one was denied entry to Australia.
Another 19-year-old man from NSW was deported by United Arab Emirates authorities after allegedly flying out of Sydney on his brother's passport.
The new Counter-Terrorism Units came into force in late August.
In addition to the 11 main intercepted suspects, a further six people were stopped and searched by authorities, missing their flights, between August 9 and September 1 at Melbourne and Sydney airports.
[Iran Press TV] Security forces in Turkey's capital, Ankara, have clashed with pro-Kurdish protesters, who are furious at the Turkish government's inaction over the ISIL terrorists' advance in Syria's Kurdish border town of Kobani.
On Thursday, police forces in Ankara used water cannon and fired tear gas at the protesters in a bid to disperse them. The angry demonstrators, in turn, threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the police.
Similar festivities between the police and protesters were also reported in Istanbul.

[An Nahar] A suicide boom-mobile blast at a police checkpoint in the Iraqi city of Baquba Thursday killed at least 10 people and maimed 11, security and medical sources said.
"At least 10 people, including seven coppers, were killed when a suicide kaboomer rammed his boom-mobile into a police checkpoint at an entrance of the Shifta neighborhood," an army officer said.
Shifta is a central district of Baquba, a city which lies around 60 kilometers northeast of the capital Baghdad.
The army officer said the attack occurred at around 4:00 pm (1300 GMT) and also maimed 11 people, including seven coppers.
A senior local police official and a doctor at Baquba general hospital both confirmed the casualty figures.
Baquba is the capital of the restive and religiously mixed province of Diyala, where Kurdish peshmerga, federal forces and allied militia have been battling the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. The best news I got out of the WaPo in quite a while - even IS suffers from unintended consequences:
In April, Islamic State jihadists controlling the Fallujah Dam closed its gates, a move that meant to slow the flow of water to the Shiite-dominated provinces in the south.
But the subsequent buildup of water ended up flooding a Sunni area nearby. The deluge affected as many as 40,000 people, aid workers said.

Two Christian worshippers were killed and seven others injured when motorcycle-riding suspects fired a grenade launcher at a Protestant church service in North Cotabato province in Mindanao.
Police chief Mautin Pangandingin said the attack occurred on Wednesday night at the United Church of Christ of the Philippines chapel in the town of Pikit, North Cotabato attended by about 30 worshippers. He said, "There was an ongoing service when two still unidentified men on a motorcycle stopped at the main door of the chapel which was then open and one of them fired a grenade launcher, killing two and wounding seven other worshippers."
The attack came more than a week after still unidentified gunmen gunned down two army soldiers outside a Catholic church in the town of Datu Piang in the neighboring province of Maguindanao on September 30. The soldiers had just come out of the church where they had lit devotional candles to mark the birthday of one of the victims when the suspects who were apparently waiting fired at them, killing them on the spot. The soldiers were not armed and in civilian clothes when they were attacked, police said.
Colonel Marlon Abo, the head of an army brigade to which the victims belonged, suspected that members of a splinter group of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) were behind the killing. Abo explained the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) said they would continue their attacks against the military and the police in opposition to the historic Bangsamoro agreement signed in March by the Philippine government and the MILF.

When I was in the Air Guard (back when) 9 launches would be an easy training day for the squadron. Granted this is just Kobani and doesn't consider other areas but that is still pretty weak for mission count.

Before they entered Kobanê great resistance was exhibited on Miştenur Hill. In fact we can easily call this the legend of Miştenur. Miştenur Hill was attacked with very heavy weapons from both the south and the east from the village of Helıncê. Before they made it to Miştenur their attacks were broken time and time again. The gangs which advanced from the Helıncê front lost scores of men and they then surrounded Miştenur on all sides. Now ISIS is increasing its attacks on Miştenur from the east and south.
Much can be said about Miştenur. When ISIS was on the verge of taking Miştenur our comrade Arîn Mîrkan infiltrated the gangs to the east and carried out a suicide attack in which many gang members were killed. We know that ISIS lost tens of fighters in this attack. Our comrade Arîn and our other comrades were resisted to the death in their positions exhibited a legendary resistance on Miştenur. We said from the beginning that ‘they will only pass over our dead bodies.’ And with the resistance on Miştenur hill we showed this. Thanks to comrade Arîn Mîrkan we can see our comrades who resisted heroically on Miştenur and joined the train of martyrs. Arîn has become a reflection of all our comrades resisting in a spirit of sacrifice.
The first places they entered the city was to the south and east on 48th avenue and it was hell for them. Our friends died heroically however in the places that they first entered the city they suffered more casualties than could be counted. We can say that hundreds of ISIS fighters have been killed since they entered the city. ISIS fighters by relying on heavy weapons. They are fighting with tanks, artillery and rockets but they have taken many blows. They have suffered many losses and have experienced a serious setback. Up until now we have faced the ISIS gangs with ambushes and traps, creative defence tactics and a sacrificial determination and we turned the first places they entered – the southern tip of the city and the 48th avenue – into a hell.
We can say that the coalition forces were late in deciding to strike ISIS. They took these decisions very late. They were not very active strikes with results. However over the last two days we can say that the airstrikes by coalitions forces have affected the gang’s attacks. The fighting is now inside the city and thus coordination with us needs to increase. If the coalition forces really want to finish ISIS and are sincere on this subject almost all of ISIS forces in Iraq and Syria are around Kobanê. Then they should continuously and more effectively attack ISIS gangs around Kobanê and in places close to Kobanê in complete coordination with us. If ISIS is broken in Kobanê they will be finished everywhere.

NATO should evict Turkey immediately. Kobani is about to turn into an unimaginable slaughter. I am ashamed of Washington. This could have easily been prevented and thousands of ISIS killed or captured.

At this time, ISIS positions. Turkish tanks are preventing supplies to cross the border into the town. Kurds and the Turks have been at odds but it must be understood, this will increase tensions between Turks and Kurds.

This would be the perfect time to use an ARCLIGHT strike, followed by a pair of Spookies. Fly them out of Cyprus, since we can't fly out of Turkey. Load up a dozen BUFFs (76,000lb payload) and B1s (80,000lb payload) in England, and let them unload on three sides of Kobani. Warn the Kurds to hunker down and put on/in ear protection. Of course, Obumble won't allow anything THAT effective...

I also had fun images of those little technicals and chow wagons attempting to cross a bomb cratered moonscape. Not knowing the geography and watching some videos, I would have to think the vibrations would collapse a number of buildings...maybe that would be a feature?

I am under the impression that an arclight would have worked earlier in the week, but not now. They were reportedly all out in the open if you didn't want to #### around and just wanted to kill a bunch.

Still, one thing a 24-7 spooky mission could do is interdict the hell out of the ISIS forces that are supporting and supplying those in contact. Basically, if it's coming from any direction other than north, it gets lit up. Lay that cordon sanitary about a mile out and turn it into a beaten zone with direct fires and air delivered FASCAM with antipers and anti veh anti armor mix.
If nothing else it breaks ISIS ability to reinforce and resupply.

The kurds are caught between a hammer and anvil. I'm just waiting for word on Baghdad starting to fall, THEN things will get bad. What with the greenzone still staffed, it wouldn't shock me if we end up with thousands of dead americans.
Kobani? Sideshow is all that's happening. Though I'm somewhat curious if an Assad/Kurd alliance is possibly in the works with how things are going.

[An Nahar] Masked gunniesrubbed out a Fatah Movement member on Wednesday evening in the Ein el-Hellhole Paleostinian refugee camp, in an incident that also left three other people maimed.
State-run National News Agency said Fatah member Walid Yassine "was seriously maimed when gunniesshot up his bird shop in the Ein el-Hellhole camp."
He later succumbed to his wounds at a Sidon hospital, NNA added. "[Wheeze!] Rosebud!"
"He's dead, Jim!"
"Awww! Snap!"
Three other people who were inside the shop were maimed, according to the agency.
Earlier, al-Mayadeen TV said tensions surged in the camp in the wake of Yassine's liquidation.
The incident prompted the members of Fatah to go on alert, according to media reports.
Ein el-Hellhole, the largest Paleostinian camp in the country and home to about 50,000 refugees, lies near the southern city of Sidon.
It is known to harbor bandidosgunnies and runaways because by long-standing convention the Lebanese army does not enter Leb's refugee camps.

[An Nahar] The army on Thursday repelled an infiltration attempt by Syrian gunnies in the outskirts of the Bekaa border town of Arsal, after repulsing two attacks on its posts in the area overnight.
"The army clashed with a number of Syrian gunnies and repelled an infiltration attempt in the Arsal area of al-Masyada," state-run National News Agency reported in the evening.
Earlier on Thursday, the army said it confronted an armed terrorist group that plotted to attack a military post on the Arsal's outskirts.
The military said in a communique that the jihadists sought to attack the post after midnight Wednesday. But soldiers engaged in gunbattles with the terrorists, forcing them to withdraw from the area.
The army's post in al-Masyada in Arsal's outskirts also came under fire from a nearby encampment for Syrian refugees, said the communique.
The military responded to the sources of fire and worked on pursuing the assailants to arrest them and refer them to the judiciary, it added.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the deaths came in strikes on Irbin, just east of the capital, and that dozens more people had been maimed.
