At least 1 person is known to has been killed in a powerful roadside bomb that tore through a convoy of African Union vehicles in Mogadishu, witnesses have on Thursday said.
A resident, who declined to be named, told Shabelle Media by phone that the landmine damaged AU personal carrier at Harmar-Bile village in Mogadishu’s Wardhigley district, adding that a person died.
It is so far unclear the exact figures of the casualties on African Union Mission in Somalia known as AMIOSM, forces from the bomb attack. Somalia government troops have arrived and sealed off at troubled area and also lunched manhunt operation near the exploded area but no arrests were made so far.

I escaped with my family in the car after seeing how Boko Haram was killing people I saw bodies in the street. Children and women, some were crying for help, Mohamed Bukar told Reuters after fleeing to the state capital Maiduguri.
The insurgency killed more than 10,000 people last year, according to a count by the Council on Foreign Relations in November. It is seen as the gravest threat to Nigeria, Africa's biggest economy, and a headache for President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of an election on February 14.
Soldiers fled Baga over the weekend when the Sunni jihadist group overran a nearby army base.
The district head of Baga, Abba Hassan, said on Thursday that at least 100 people were killed when the group first took over the town on the edge of Lake Chad.
Abubakar Gulama, who escaped without his family to Monguno, 40 km (25 miles) away, said he crossed "many dead bodies on the ground" and that "the whole town was on fire".
Reuters TV footage showed scores of civilians waiting on sandy streets on the outskirts of Baga to catch buses out of town. Many carried the few possessions they had salvaged, such as bags of clothes and rolled up mattresses.
In the last week, around 2,000 Nigerians and 500 Chadians have fled Boko Haram attacks in Chad's Lake region, Chadian Prime Minister Kalzeubet Pahimi said on Wednesday.

[ARABNEWS] Yemeni security forces have jugged Please don't kill me! five suspected Al-Qaeda members accused of carrying out a car kaboom on a police academy that killed 40 people, the Sanaa police chief said Friday.
Gen. Abdel Razaq Al-Moayed, quoted by the official Saba news agency, said the five members of an Al-Qaeda cell were tossed into the calaboose and that a sixth suspect, the owner of the vehicle used in Wednesdays attack, was being sought by authorities.
The official said the first suspect was arrested Wednesday at the scene of the attack and had provided the names of the other four cell members.
The vehicle owner was identified by the registration documents, Moayed added.
The bombing targeted dozens of potential recruits lined up to register at the academy in the centre of the Yemeni capital, killing 40 and maimed 71 others.
Yemens top security body blamed Al-Qaeda for the blast.
But a leader of Al-Qaeda in Yemen, Sheikh Saleh Abdel Ilah al-Dahab, denied any involvement by the bully boy group in Wednesdays attack.
Al-Qaeda has nothing to do with the incident, he wrote on Twitter, accusing the Huthi militia that overran Sanaa in September of being behind the bombing.

At least one of the two brothers involved in the attack travelled to Yemen in 2011 and either received training from or fought alongside the group, according to U.S. and Yemeni officials. If confirmed, the attack would be the first time al-Qaeda's branch in Yemen has successfully carried out an operation in the West after at least two earlier attempts.
Soon after, the branch's senior holy man Sheikh Harith al-Nadhari issued a recording on the group's Twitter feed commenting on the "blessed raid on Gay Paree." He denounced the "filthy" French and called them "the heads of infidelity who insult the prophets." He praised the "hero mujahedeen" who he said "taught them a lesson and the limits of freedom of speech."
Al-Nadhari stopped short of directly claiming responsibility for the attack, but added, "How can we not fight those who hurt our prophet, slandered our religion and fought the faithful."
Addressing the French, he said, "It better for you to stop striking Moslems so you can live in peace. But if you only wish for war, then rejoice, you will not enjoy peace as long as you wage war on God and his prophets and fight Moslems."
It was not immediately clear why al-Nadhari did not outright said al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula was behind the attack. The member told the AP that the group as delaying its official declaration of responsibility for "security reasons."
"The leadership of AQAP directed the operations and they have chosen their target carefully as Dire Revenge for the honor of the prophet," the al-Qaeda member said. He said La Belle France was targeted "because of its obvious role in the war on Islam and oppressed nations."
He warned that "touching Moslems' sanctity and protecting those who make blasphemy have a dear price and the punishment will be severe" and that "the crimes of the Western countries, above them America, Britannia and La Belle France will backfire deep in their home."
He said the group will continue the policy by al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahri of "hitting the snake's head ... until the West retreats." Reports out of the ME that Hayat Boumeddienne left Paris on January 2 prior to the attacks, arrived in Turkey, and then crossed over into Syria on January 8. These reports say official registration of the above travel exists in Turkey.
Terror suspect Hayat Boumeddiene is still at-large, escaping the Kosher supermarket hostage scene.

Paris: The gunman who was shot dead by Paris police after taking hostages at a Jewish supermarket phoned friends from the scene, urging them to stage further attacks, a security source said.
Amedy Coulibaly was killed in the climax of the siege, in which four hostages died.
The 32-year-old Islamist told French television in an interview from the hostage scene he had "coordinated" his actions with the two gunmen who shot dead 12 people at Charlie Hebdo magazine on Wednesday. He "asked his friends to go and attack various targets, specifically police stations in the Paris suburbs," the source said.

He had tried to boobytrap the entrance to the shop where he was besieged by police "but had not hooked up the explosives", the source added.

[DAWN] Indian-held Kashmire was brought under New Delhi's direct rule Friday after political rivals failed to agree on a power-sharing coalition, more than two weeks after elections in the country's only Moslem-majority state.
A federal government front man confirmed that President Pranab Mukherjee had placed Governor N. N. Vohra in charge of the state, the day after the acting chief minister stepped down.
The president has approved the governor's rule for the state, home ministry front man M.A Ganapathy told AFP after Vohra had made an official recommendation to Mukherjee.
The move comes more than two weeks after the December 23 announcement of results of the state elections which saw all parties fall way short of the 44 seats needed for an absolute majority.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, whose National Conference Party won only 15 seats after suffering an electoral meltdown, had stayed on as caretaker but he submitted his resignation to Vohra on Thursday.
The imposition of direct rule means local representatives will have no say in the running of Kashmire for the timebeing, a particular sensitive issue in a region where rebels have been fighting to secede from India since 1989.
It comes after the two parties which won the most seats the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) failed to work out a power sharing arrangement or cut a deal with other smaller parties.
The PDP won 28 seats while the BJP won 25, mainly mopping up in the mainly Hindu Jammu region in the south of the state.
Abdullah, who suffered a backlash over his government's handling of devastating floods in September, said it was vital the state not be left in limbo.

Mehmood was shifted to Adiala Jail on October 27, 2010.
Strict security measures had been taken before his execution. Army and Rangers personnel were deployed in and outside the Adiala jail. Besides this, aerial surveillance of the area was also carried out.
As many as 27 family members of Khalid Mehmood met him before his execution.
So far four convicts in the case: Niaz Muhammad, Karamdeen, Nawazish and Khalid Mehmood have been hanged, while another Adnan Rasheed has been on the run since an attack on Bannu jail.
This was the eighth execution since the prime minister lifted a moratorium on executions of death row prisoners in the country.
Earlier Dr Usman, the criminal mastermind of the attack on the Pakistain Army headquarters in 2009, Arshad Mehmood, Zubair Ahmed, Rasheed Qureshi, Ghulam Sarwar Bhatti, Russian citizen Akhlaque Ahmed and Niaz Muhammad were executed in relations with the liquidation attempt on Musharraf.

[ABS-CBN News] A soldier was injured after he and three members of the Civilian Auxiliary Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) were fired upon by unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao Thursday. Sgt. Brian Duazo was shot in the hand but managed to drive himself to a hospital in Isulan town of Sultan Kudarat nonetheless.
Duazo and the three CAFGU members were aboard a pick-up truck near Labu-Labo village when they were strafed.

In related news, a national security source recently revealed that Pattani United Liberation Organisation (PULO) under the leadership of Gusturi Mahkota would arrange a meeting of "people who think differently from the Thai State" in Hamburg, Germany on January 24. Gusturi sent invitations to PULO members and those of other militant groups including the Barisan Revolusi Nasional, the Barisan Islam Pembebasan Patani and the Gerakan Mujahidin Patani.
The "Unity Talk" - celebrating PULO's 47th anniversary - also aims to unite all groups, including two PULO factions known as the "Patani Liberation Army" led by Samsuding Khan and the "old PULO" group led by Kamae Usoh, in making demands during the ongoing Malaysia-facilitated peace talks.

The Observatory said there were an additional two reported incidents involving attacks in the area against members of the Hesbah force.
"There is an escalation in the operations against the Hesbah because they are arresting people and insulting their dignity for reasons like smoking," Rahman told Agence La Belle France-
