Shaboobs execute alleged Ethiopia spy
GALHARERI, Somalia -- Somalia’s Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabaab militants have executed alleged Ethiopian-AMISOM forces spy in Galgadud region town of Galhareri of central Somalia on Saturday, Garowe Online reports.

Ali Salad Majin, 20 was publicly executed in front of a crowd, with self-appointed Al Shabaab judge saying, he was convicted of being informant for Ethiopian troops.

“He confessed to handing over many Muslims to Ethiopian forces in El Bur,” Al Shabaab judge was quoted as saying by onlookers who refused to be named in print. Continuing, he threatened they will never forgive anybody convicted of being spy for African Union troops in Somalia.

Al Shabaab terror group previously executed many accused of working for Somali National intelligence and Security Agency, African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and the CIA.

Misratan forces gain upper hand against IS in Nawafliya and clear coastal road to the east
[Libya Herald] Misratan-led Shooruq (Sunrise) forces have retaken much of Nawafliya and secured a portion of the coastal road to the east of Sirte.

Speaking at a presser last night Shooruq front man Ismail Shukri told news hounds that Misratan forces, principally from 166 Battalion, had reentered Nawafliya yesterday morning. He said the troops had made considerable gains but had not yet completely secured the area.

Two buildings in Nawafliya were destroyed in the assault with unconfirmed reports that Misratan forces were able to take a number of gunnies captive during the fighting.

Pushing the majority of IS fighters to the south, Shukri said Misrata now had control of the costal road 75 kilometres to the east of Sirte towards Sidra. Nawafliya lies roughly 60 kilometres to the west of Sidra, which is under the control of Petroleum Facilities Guards, loyal to the internationally recognised government in Beida.

The worst of the fighting between IS and 166 Battalion took place 110 kilometres to the east of Sirte where three Shooruq fighters were lightly injured. Shukri said after an exchange of heavy weapon fire IS forces had fled the area.

Ten troops from the Misratan-led Shooruq operation were killed in a raid by Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) forces on a checkpoint near Nawafliya two days ago.

Fighting has raged in and around Sirte for six days with dozens killed in the festivities. It is the first time Misratan forces, led by 166 Battalion, have confronted the myrmidon group in the town.

IS took control of the Sirte months ago with a tacit ceasefire in effect between Misrata and the krazed killers. Since that ceasefire has come to an end, refugees have been streaming out of Sirte to avoid getting caught up in the violence.

Since the initial day of fighting in Sirte between IS and Misratan forces, IS has retaliated with two kabooms in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
and is believed to have orchestrated a third bombing on a 166 Battalion base in the outskirts of Misrata.

Tuareg commander reported killed in Obari
[Libya Herald] A leading Tuareg commander in Obari is reported to have been killed in renewed fighting in the town between the pro-Libya Dawn

Tuaregs and Tebu fighters loyal to the House of Representatives.

"We attacked the pro-Dawn Tuaregs this morning, in which their leader Idal Abubakr was killed, and some 10 others died," Tebu commander Yahya Imrbou, told the Libya Herald last night.

The Tebu troops launched their attack on the Tuareg fighters' downtown base early yesterday morning. They claim that in addition to Abubaker, who commanded the Tuareg Iseen Brigade, ten other Tuareg were killed.

They say that they forced the Tuaregs out of the camp and seized several vehicles during the lightning strike.

"The attack was sudden and unexpected. They [the Tuaregs] thought that we might attack the Tendi mountain [another Tuareg base], but we didn't. We attacked their barracks instead," Imrbou explained.

Some buildings in Obari are reported to be on fire and a number of civilians maimed in crossfire.

Libya's recognised government launches air strike on camp in Tripoli
[Al Ahram] Libya's internationally recognised government conducted air strikes on a military camp on Saturday and attempted to hit the airport in Tripoli

, the capital controlled by a rival administration, officials said.

The attack came a day after the official government said it had launched a military offensive to "liberate" Tripoli, which has been seized by a group called Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). in August, reinstating a previous assembly.

The recognised Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thinni and the elected parliament have been confined to eastern Libya since then but both administrations allied to armed factions fight for control four years after the ousting of Muammar Qadaffy
...who single-handedly turned a moderately prosperous kingdom into a dictator's fantasyland and was then murdered by his indignant subjects 42 years later...
Saqer al-Joroushi, an eastern air force commander, said his aircraft hit the Mitiga airport in Tripoli and a camp used by Libya Dawn near another airport in the capital.

A security source in Tripoli said the camp had apparently been hit while planes had missed the airport.

Tripoli-based al-Nabaa television station said war planes had also hit the western Zuwara airport though there was no immediate confirmation for this.

On Friday, UN Special Envoy Bernardino Leon said the military offensive threatened international efforts to reach agreement in the next few days on a unity government and lasting ceasefire.

Western leaders say the UN talks are the only way to end the chaos in Libya where Islamist snuffies have gained ground.

Both sides have attacked each other with war planes in the past few days. They face internal divisions and are dominated by former rebels who helped oust autocrat Muammar Qadaffy, but who now use their weapons to fight for territory.

Obama Hands Yemen to Al Qaeda, Orders Evacuation of US Special Forces
The U.S. has removed all remaining personnel from Yemen as Shiite rebels controlling the country's capital called for others to join its battle against government forces.

The State Department said in a statement it is removing personnel due to the "deteriorating security situation" in the country. The State Department also said it will continue to engage the Yemeni people and international community to support the country's political transition.

Earlier Saturday, Yemeni security and military officials said that U.S. troops and Special Forces commandos were evacuating from an air base in southern Yemen. The air base was believed to have at least 100 American troops stationed there.

The U.N. Security Council has called for an emergency meeting to discuss the situation in Yemen as well. The closed-door meeting is expected to take place Sunday.

The turmoil comes as Yemen battles al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, the target of the drone program, and faces a purported affiliate of the extremist Islamic State group that claimed responsibility for a series of suicide bombings killing at least 137 people Friday.

The State Department encouraged all Yemeni factions to engage in the U.N.-led political discussion to achieve a power-sharing solution, it said in the statement.

The U.S hopes to make progress in unifying the embattled country.

US evacuates troops from south Yemen base
Please do not disturb me until this Women's NCAA girl's basketball game is over. My niece is about to score.
[Al Ahram] US military personnel stationed at Al-Anad airbase in southern Yemen have been evacuated over security concerns, a Yemeni military source said on Saturday amid fighting involving Al-Qaeda snuffies nearby.

The troops left late Friday for an "unknown destination", the military source at the Yemeni base in restive Lahj
... a Yemeni governate located in the southwestern corner of the Arabian Peninsula. It is the stomping grounds on the southern secessionist al-Harak movement
province told AFP.

Members of Yemen's anti-terror units, which are trained by US forces and based at Al-Anad, have also been evacuated, the source added.

At least 29 people were killed on Friday in festivities between Yemeni security forces and gunnies who included both Al-Qaeda members and separatists, in Lahj.

Yemen has acknowledged that American personnel gathering intelligence for drone strikes on Al-Qaeda are deployed at Al-Anad.

Yemen is a key US ally, allowing it to wage a long-standing drone war on its territory against Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula

Yemen president pledges to fight Iran influence
Aden -- Yemen’s embattled President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi
He's the guy who replaced Saleh. We put him there. It's working out real well, isn't it...
pledged on Saturday to fight Iran’s influence in his violence-wracked country, accusing the Houthi militia of importing Tehran’s ideology.
How's he going to fight -- run away bravely?
Hadi lashed out at the Iran-backed militia a day after multiple suicide bombings at Houthi mosques claimed by the Daesh group killed 142 people and wounded 351.

The country is on the brink of civil war
Brink?
Like any chasm, there's the near brink, where bad things are about to happen, and the far brink, where you only have one hand and a bloody handkerchief with which to clean up after the zombie apocalypse.
with a deepening political impasse and an increasingly explicit territorial division along sectarian lines, amid rising violence pitting Houthi militia against Sunni tribes and Al Qaeda militants. The Houthis, who seized Sanaa in September, vowed to take further “revolutionary steps” following Friday’s blasts.

In his first televised speech since he fled to Aden from house arrest in Houthi-held Sanaa, Hadi said he would ensure that “the Yemeni republic flag will fly on the Marran mountain in (the militia’s northern stronghold) Saada, instead of the Iranian flag”.

“The Iranian Twelver pattern that has been agreed upon between the Houthis and those who support them will not be accepted by Yemenis,” he said.

In a letter to relatives of the victims of the mosque bombings, which also wounded 351 people, Hadi condemned the attacks as “terrorist, criminal and cowardly”.

“Such heinous attacks could only be done by the enemies of life” who want to drag Yemen into “chaos, violence and internal fighting”, he said.

“Shia extremism, represented by the armed Houthi militia, and Sunni extremism, represented by Al Qaeda, are two sides of the same coin, who do not wish good and stability for Yemen and its people.”

Hadi has declared Aden the country’s temporary capital.

Britain
London synagogue attack by group of youths
A synagogue in the London suburb of Stamford Hill was attacked by a group of approximately 20 youths Saturday night. The youths, who yelled "we will kill you", beat worshipers and vandalized property including tearing apart prayer books reported The Jerusalem Post.
Reported by J-Post as opposed to the Daily Mail, Times, etc...
Anguper Hupomosing9418 submitted an article from the Telegraph on this story minutes after you did, boldly titled "'Kill the Jews' mob attacks UK synagogue".
But it was the Telegraph: what right-thinking person would be caught dead reading that?
One local Jewish man who was passing by the synagogue at the time of the attack suffered hits to his face after being overwhelmed by the group of youths after trying to grab one of them to bring to the police.
Youths, armed with stones and sticks.
The attack, which was filmed by a member of the synagogue shows two groups of youths, one inside the building and the other trying to get in, screaming at each other through broken windows. Towards the end of the video, an object is shown being thrown through one of the windows after a man tries to shut the door, causing glass to fly towards the group inside.

Two girls in miniskirts are also seen, but it is unclear whether they were trying to intervene or if they were part of the attack.

Four suspects were detained by police and a local law enforcement spokesman said that police were viewing the attack on the Ahavat Torah synagogue as "grave."

A record number of anti-Semitic hate incidents were reported in Britain last year, fueled by the conflict in Israel and Gaza, a charity that monitors such crime reported on Thursday. The Community Security Trust (CST), which records anti-Semitism and provides security for Britain's Jewish community, said that 1,168 anti-Semitic incidents were reported over 2014. It was more than double the 535 incidents seen in 2013, and the highest annual total seen since CST began records in 1984.

London police said a similar increase was recorded in their crime records, and that patrols had been increased in key areas.

UK court seizes passports of Syria-bound girls and their parents
[IsraelTimes] London judge bars five teenagers from traveling abroad, citing fears they planned to join jihadists

A British judge on Friday barred five teenage girls from travelling abroad amid concerns they would go to Syria to join Islamist fighters, in the second such ruling this week.

High Court judge Anthony Hayden made the girls from east London -- two aged 15 and three aged 16 -- "wards of court," a legal move that prevents them leaving England and Wales.

He confiscated their passports and also those of a number of adults involved in caring for them, noting that in at least one other case a young girl traveled on a relative's passport.
They're definitely getting more serious over there.
In a ruling prompted by an application by the local authority, Tower Hamlets in east London, Hayden said that despite signs the teens were becoming more radical, their relatives were not cooperating with social services.

"It seems to me that that must have been known to the parents and they deliberately did not share it with the authorities who were keen to protect these vulnerable maidens of tender years," the judge said.

He acknowledged his ruling was a "draconian" step, but said: "The risk contemplated here is as grave as it can be for it is common knowledge that so many have bit the dust in Syria and so many have gone knowing that would be likely."

Earlier this week, Hayden imposed a similar ruling on a 16-year-old boy amid fears he would follow his three brothers in joining al-Qaeda linked fighters in Syria.

Two of the brothers have been killed, and the other maimed.

"Sometimes the law has to intervene to protect these young people, ultimately from themselves," the judge said Friday.

British authorities are increasingly concerned by the numbers of young people heading to join jihadists in Syria, after a string of high-profile cases in recent weeks.

Three schoolgirls from London followed a classmate to Syria earlier this year by travelling through The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, while three teenage boys and a 21-year-old woman were stopped in Turkey in the past week on suspicion of trying to cross the border.

About 700 people are thought to have gone to Syria from Britannia, of whom almost half are reported to have returned.

Seven terror suspects killed in Dagestan
[AFP] Russian security forces said on Saturday that they had killed seven terror suspects in an operation in Dagestan. The special operation was launched after receiving information that criminals were in a building in Dagestan's capital Makhatchkala.

Russia's National Anti-Terror Committee (NAK) said "seven neutralized bandits were found" in the building. Its statement said that the men were behind attacks against the police and had been extorting money from local businesses to fund their terrorist activities.

Huge weapons cache seized in car en route Istanbul
[Hurriyet Daily News] Turkish police have seized a large weapons cache in a car going from the western province of Kocaeli toward Istanbul.

The car entered The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
from Syria, carrying a licence plate registered in the southeastern Turkish province of Gaziantep, Dogan News Agency reported March 21.

22 full-automatic rifles, a Russian-made heavy machine gun, eight grenades and some 2,700 bullets were found by the police who searched the car in Kocaeli's Gebze district after an unnamed informer alerted security services.

The driver of the car, as well as his pregnant wife and their child who were also in the car, have been detained.

Police raided several houses in Istanbul on March 21 after taking the testimonies, the agency added.

Security sources declined to reveal any information about the destination of the weapons, stressing that the investigation continues.

The Turkish police, as well as the National Intelligence Agency (MIT), were put on full alert, according to the report.

Judging by the amount, it was possibly a test run, or for local consumption.

ISIS Urges Supporters To Kill 100 U.S. Military Personnel On 'Hacked' Hit List
[Rooters] Islamic State has posted online what it says are the names, U.S. addresses and photos of 100 American military service members, and called upon its "brothers residing in America" to kill them.

The Pentagon said after the information was posted on the Internet that it was investigating the matter. "I can't confirm the validity of the information, but we are looking into it," a U.S. defense official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said on Saturday.

"We always encourage our personnel to exercise appropriate OPSEC (operations security) and force protection procedures," the official added.
No comment from Ambassador Chris Stevens or anyone at Foggy Bottom.
In the posting, a group referring to itself as the "Islamic State Hacking Division" wrote in English that it had hacked several military servers, databases and emails and made public the information on 100 members of the U.S. military so that "lone wolf" attackers can kill them.

The New York Times reported that it did not look like the information had been hacked from U.S. government servers and quoted an unnamed Defense Department official as saying most of the information could be found in public records, residential address search sites and social media.

#5  With less technical means available and no one in the community to assist them at the time, are you starting to understand why in Dec '41 they started to move certain communities to detention centers from the West Coast (where two specific locations were responsible for 90 percent of all aircraft production in the US). Remember they were at least reading the Japanese diplomatic code/traffic which according to material declassified in 1995 , the staffs indicated sympathizers in that commmunity (see - Marching Orders).

Seriously, though - I can think of better means for a lone-wolf jihadi to target individual US military members, and I am certain most other Rantburgundians can as well, but I'm not going to say so here and give the mooks ideas they haven't thought of yet.

If we were to declare war on (radical) Islam, as they have on us, we could inter the troublemakers. Seems extreme, but that's what the U.S. did in WWI and WWII. It's what most countries do in time of war.

Two die in blast outside Bohra mosque
[DAWN] KARACHI: At least two people were killed and five others injured when a bomb attached to a parked cycle of violence went off outside a mosque of the Bohra community in Aram Bagh area on Friday.
There are both Sunni and Shia Bohras. The Shia are a subsect of the Ismailis. The Sunnis follow the Hanafi flavor of the Religion of Peace and have some sort of mumbo about their imams being descended from the Profit (PTUI) through Fatima. I'm not sure which one got the kaboom here. Since they were at a mosque instead of an imambargah I'd guess they were Sunnis. Since the leader of the community is a "syed" I'd guess they were Shiites. So there you have it.
The kaboom took place when people were coming out of Saleh mosque, near Haqqani Chowk, after offering Friday prayer at about 1.55pm. Two people were killed and five injured, said Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
-South DIG Barrister Abdul Khalique Sheikh.

The powerful blast was heard several kilometres away. It destroyed two parked cycle of violences and damaged the shutters of two shops and windows of adjoining buildings.

A witness told Dawn that he had barely left the mosque when the blast took place. There were at least 400 people in the mosque. A majority of them were offering 'Dua' after the prayer and a few were outside the mosque.

The DIG said the mosque was located in a narrow street adjacent to the seven-storey Burhani Hospital, which was being manned by the community's volunteers. There were barriers in lanes around it.

It appeared that someone might have parked the cycle of violence outside the main gate of the mosque in the morning when there was no organised checking because there are several shops there.

Another witness said a policeman used to be on duty outside the mosque's gate but he had not been seen over the past three weeks.

The bomb weighed around 2kg and exploded by remote control, Raja Umer Khattab, an official of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), said.

The cycle of violence used in the kaboom belonged to one Liaquat Umer of Keamari area who was reportedly an old man and Sherlocks were trying to locate him.

Referring to a recent attack on two shops belonging to members of the Bohra community in Bahadurabad in which one shopkeeper was killed and four others were maimed, the CTD official said a bully boy group which had attacked the community in 2012 might have been re-activated in the city.

Seven people, including an infant, were killed in twin blasts in the Bohra compound in North Nazimabad on

Sept 18, 2012, a day after a visit to the city by the spiritual leader of the community, Syed Mufaddal Bhaisaheb Saifuddin.

Raja Umer said that no arrest had been made after the 2012 attack but it was suspected that Jundullah, and a local chapter of Al Qaeda, had been involved. The group was also allegedly involved in killing coppers in the city.

Gun battle as militants attack India's Kashmir army camp
[DAWN] Two turbans shot up an army camp in Indian Kashmire on Saturday in the second attack against security forces in two days, an army official said, adding to pressure on India's nationalist government after it swore to end such violence.

Saturday's attack happened on the Pathankote-Jammu National Highway, around 20 km from the cop shoppe in Kathua district where six people, including two holy warriors, were killed in a holy warrior attack on Friday.

Kathua district is about 15 km from the border with Pakistain, which India has long blamed for pushing turbans into its part of the disputed region.

A shootout was underway but there were no army or civilian casualties, said army front man Lt Col Manish Mehta.

Security agencies believe that the two turbans are part of the same group that carried out the attack on Friday.

"Terrorists opened fire from the road and our guard retaliated. We have cordoned the area and they are hiding in nearby bushes adjacent to the army camp," Mehta said.

The national highway has been closed and state school examinations in the district have been called off.
An Nahar brings a different perspective to the story, clearly filed subsequently:
Government forces in Indian Kashmire on Saturday killed two suspected rebels, a day after two other gunnies were rubbed out in a shootout with police.

Forces "moved in cautiously" on Saturday and killed the two gunnies after tip offs that they were hiding out in the Samba sector, some 350 kilometers (217 miles) from the region's main city of Srinagar, army sources told AFP.

"Two gunnies were killed near the armored regiment unit," Danish Rana, inspector general of police for the region, told AFP.

On Friday, two armed gunnies hijacked a private jeep and killed the driver before lobbing grenades into a cop shoppe about 20 kilometers (12 miles) from Samba sector before being rubbed out by forces.

The attack was the first to hit India's only Moslem-majority state since the ruling Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took power this month in a coalition government.

Army sources, however, could not confirm whether the rebels involved in Friday's incident were in the same group as those killed on Saturday.

No rebel group immediately grabbed credit for Friday's attack.

group (IS/ISIS) in Tikrit, a major city in Salahuddin province in Iraq.

Gen. Sadiq Yari, a close commander to the leader in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Qassem Soleimani, was killed in a suicide kaboom in the city of Tikrit, when the Iraqi government forces backed by the Shiite militia of the Popular Mobilization Forces were locked in fierce battles with IS forces of Evil who are in control of the city.

Meanwhile,
...back at the bunker, his Excellency called a hurried meeting of his closest advisors. It was to be his last. They discussed the officers's efficiency rating system...
the pro-IS news agency of al-Amaq said Friday that the Islamic State's fighters carried out a "martyrdom operation" against several strongholds of the Iraqi government forces and allied militias where they were advancing toward al-Dayyoum in the western part of Tikrit.

The fighting on the western front of Tikrit continued from Friday's early hours of the morning until the evening, without any apparent advancement by government forces.

The Islamic State has been in control of most of Salahuddin province's areas since June 2014, including the city of Tikrit, the hometown of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

Southeast Asia
Army asked to halt Mindanao offensive for three days
[Gulf Today] Officials have appealed to the Philippine military to stop its all-out offensive against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters for three days to enable at least 16,000 students in Maguindanao province to hold their annual graduation exercises. Classes have been suspended in the public schools of 11 towns because the buildings have been used as evacuation centers.

Maguindanao Governor Esmael Mangudadatu said that aside from the students, a major concern was the plight of the more than 100,000 evacuees. He said that they were concerned about how the villagers could return to their farms and restart harvesting their crops. Mangudadatu said the soldiers who have taken control of many of the villages could not just leave without putting up security mechanisms to prevent the return of the BIFF members.

of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) of responsibility.

"There are now 45 dead from last night's attacks in Hasakeh, as most of those who were at death's door passed away," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, after reporting 33 killed Friday night.

Two kabooms struck as members of Syria's Kurdish minority celebrated on the eve of Nowruz, the Kurdish new year, in the northeastern city of Hasakeh.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility on Friday, but Rami Abdel Rahman of the Britannia-based Observatory told AFP the bad boy ISIL was behind the attacks.

According to him, the kabooms were a few hundred metres (yards) apart from each other, with at least one of them caused by a jacket wallah inside a vehicle.

The Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) control Hasakeh city, but ISIL Lions of Islam have launched attacks on towns nearby.

Klingons Again Reliant on Liaison for Interrogations
[SOFREP] During his recent speech and accompanying question and answer session at the Council on Foreign Relations, CIA Director John Brennan made a seemingly rare public admission regarding the way the agency handles detentions and interrogations of terrorism suspects. Brennan stated the CIA had overcome the recent termination of its enhanced interrogation program by returning to the agency's historic reliance on foreign liaison partners for the capture and interrogation of members of terrorist organizations.

In an exchange with Fox News' Megan Kelly, in the waning minutes of his hour-plus-long visit to the CFR, Kelly asked Brennan if the United States was "still capturing terrorists, and if so, where do we keep them?" The Fox News host also asked Brennan, "how are we interrogating them?"
A total reliance on so-called 'foreign partners' is a clear admission of intelligence community failure. If you do not control the detainee or source, you do not control the reporting. You get what the 'foreign partner' wants you to get.
