Five Taliban Insurgents Killed in Baghlan As Clashes Continue
[Tolo News] At least five Taliban Death Eaters, including their leader, were killed in ongoing festivities in northern Baghlan province, local officials said on Wednesday.

Jawhar Khan Baburi, District Governor of Baghlan-e-Markazi said that the festivities continue. However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
snuffies reportedly attacked police posts in Mangal district on Monday night in a bid to take control of the district.

There are no military casualties so far in the festivities, Baburi said.

This comes after a number of Taliban snuffies attacked police posts in Baghlan-e-Markazi on Monday night and took control of Alawuddin and Mangal villages in the district.

Tribal elders meanwhile confirmed the collapse of villages into Taliban hands but said that the Afghan cops have re-taken control of at least one village, Khudaidadkhil, which had also fallen into the control of the Taliban Death Eaters.

Baghlan borders Kunduz province, which has been the scene of ongoing festivities with Taliban snuffies who took control of Dasht-e-Archi district.

NDS Says Haqqani, Pakistani Intelligence Behind Attack on Parliament
[Tolo News] The National Directorate of Security
...the Afghan national intel agency...
(NDS) on Wednesday reported that preliminary investigations show Monday's attack on Parliament was conceived in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
, Pakistain, by the Haqqani Network. What's more, the NDS has asserted that an officer of the Pak intelligence service (ISI) aided the attack.

According NDS front man Haseeb Sediqi, the leader of the Haqqani Network's military arm, Mawlawi Sheerin, was the criminal mastermind of the attack. However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
in a development that is likely to complicate an the national unity government's attempts to make Islamabad a partner for peace, an ISI officer named Bilal is thought to have provided financial and logistical support for the Haqqani Network.

"This attack by the Haqqani group was organized with major support from someone named Bilal, an officer of the ISI," Sediqi said on Wednesday. "In this operation, the attackers were provided with approximately 7.5 million Pak rupees."

Sediqi also claimed that two other attempted attacks on the Parliament building had been foiled earlier in the year thanks to arrests made by the NDS. Even in those cases, he said, there were signs that the attackers received institutional support. "They had a lot of help, such as a very professional blueprint of Parliament and a very sophisticated attack."

The attack on Parliament occurred just as the Minister of Defense nominee, Masoom Stanekzai, was scheduled to appear in front of politicians to receive his vote of confidence. Over 30 civilians were maimed and five others were killed. The Taliban grabbed credit.

Six killed in Somalia Al-Shabab attack on UAE Embassy convoy
[Beirut Daily Star] Somalia's Al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
rebels killed at least six people Wednesday in a suicide kaboom on a diplomatic convoy from the United Arab Emirates in the Somali capital Mogadishu, police and the Islamists said.

"We have confirmed the death of six people, four of them civilians, while six others were also maimed, some seriously," police officer Abdukadir Hasan told AFP.

He said no UAE diplomats were hurt in the attack, with the Somali security staff escorting them stopping the bomber with their truck as the blast went off.

Al-Shabaab said it carried out the attack, which is believed to be the first time the Al-Qaeda affiliate has targeted the UAE in Somalia. The UAE is involved in a number of security, infrastructure, development and humanitarian projects in Somalia.

"The mujahedeen fighters ... carried out a successful attack on a delegation from the apostate government of the United Arab Emirates," said an Al-Shabaab statement posted on an murderous Moslem website.

"A jacket wallah rammed his car into the pick-up truck and there were casualties," Somali security official Abdi Dahir said. "There was a heavy kaboom."

force in Somalia (AMISOM) was also passing nearby at the time of the attack close to the UAE Embassy, witnesses said.

"I saw the dead bodies of two people, and there were several maimed soldiers," said Abdulahi Yasin, who saw the aftermath.

"The kaboom was very heavy and it destroyed the pick-up truck," said Hassan Bile, another witness.

U.N. envoy to Somalia, Nick Kay, condemned the "utterly cruel terror attack against UAE in Somalia."

'12-Year-Old Girl' Kills 10 in NE Nigeria Suicide Attack
[AnNahar] A girl thought to be aged just 12 detonated explosives she was carrying at a market in northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
on Tuesday, killing 10 people and injuring dozens, a relative of one of the injured told Agence La Belle France Presse.

The blast bore all the hallmarks of Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
Islamists, who have used young women and girls in the past as human bombs and regularly attacked "soft" civilian targets such as markets.

The kaboom happened at around 11:00 am (1000 GMT) at the weekly market in Wagir, in the Gujba district south of the Yobe state capital Damaturu.

"It was a suicide kaboom by a girl of around 12 years," said Hussaini Aisami, whose relative was among at least 30 people injured. "She went into the market and headed straight to the grain section. She detonated her explosives in the middle of traders and customers.

"Ten people died from the kaboom. We brought 30 people to the hospital."

On Monday, a girl thought to be aged about 17 killed at least 20 at a bus station near a fish market in the state capital of Borno, Maiduguri, when the explosives she was carrying went off. A girl about the same age was also killed in an kaboom nearby but there were no other casualties.

Security analysts have suggested that younger girls may have their explosives detonated remotely by a third party.

The injured from Wagir were taken to the Sani Abachi Specialist Hospital in Damaturu for treatment but others with less serious injuries were released.

A nurse at the hospital, who asked not to be named, confirmed the relative's account after speaking to other relatives.

"We received 30 people with various grievous injuries from Wagir this afternoon," he said. "We have not received any dead bodies. Residents from the village said the dead were taken out for burial from the scene after the blast at the market."

Suicide attacks, raids and shelling have increased since new President Muhammadu Buhari took power on May 29 vowing to crush the murderous Moslems. In all, some 208 people have been killed since then, according to AFP reporting.

Civilians Hit again in NE Nigeria, as Boko Haram Kills 42
[AnNahar] Suspected Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
gunnies rubbed out at least 42 people in two separate attacks in northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
, with no let-up in sight to the Islamist group's targeting of civilians.

The attacks in the remote villages of Debiro Hawul and Debiro Biu in Borno state on Monday and Tuesday came before at least 10 people were killed in a suicide kaboom in neighboring Yobe.

The attacks saw some 30 Lion of Islam fighters storm Debiro Biu on Monday and Debiro Hawul the following day, with reports taking time to emerge because of the villages' remote location.

"We received reports of attacks by suspected Boko Haram gunnies on the two villages, in which 42 deaths were recorded," one police officer told AFP from the town of Biu.

Umaru Markus, who fled Debiro Hawul, said the attacks were carried out by some 30 Islamists in a convoy of pick-up trucks and cycle of violences. The rebels rubbed out their victims after looting homes and shops and setting fire to buildings, he added.

"They came around 12:30 am (1130 GMT on Tuesday) and opened fire on the village, which sent people scampering into the bush to escape the attack," he said. "The gunnies slaughtered 22 people who were not fast enough in fleeing and went about looting homes, grains silos and drug stores."

The attack on Debiro Biu left 20 people dead, he said.

"It never occurred to us we would be the next target," he added.

Ending the insurgency is a priority for Buhari and his administration. The new president has already visited Chad and Niger to secure sustained regional support for the fight-back. On Tuesday, his office said he had accepted an invitation to go to Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
, whose far north region has been increasingly hit by the violence.

A new regional fighting force comprising 8,700 troops from Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameroon and Benin is due to deploy at the end of next month.

But there will be pressure to counter Boko Haram's urban guerrilla tactics to which it has reverted after it captured swathes of territory last year.

Yemen army targets Saudi base with rockets
[Iran Press TV] The Yemeni army has fired as many as 12 rockets at a Saudi military base in the southwestern Saudi province of Jizan.

Yemeni army forces, backed by popular committees, targeted the Saudi military base of al-Doud and the area surrounding it in Jizan late on Wednesday.

There has been no immediate report on the casualties or material damage caused by the rocket attacks.

The rocket attacks by the Yemeni army were in response to Saudi aggression against several areas across the impoverished Arab country. Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The Saudi fighter jets targeted the premises of Yemen's customs in the city of Hard in the northwestern province of Hajjah, and a governmental complex in the northern province of al-Jawf.

Saudi warplanes also pounded several areas in Yemen's northwestern province of Sa'ada. In one of the attacks on Wednesday morning, Saudi fighter jets struck a residential building in the Saqin district, razing it to the ground, the Arabic-language al-Masirah satellite television network reported.

A Shia Moslem holy man, identified as Allameh Homaizah, and five members of his family, including two children and a woman, were killed in the aerial attack.

Time running out for ceasefire as famine looms

Meanwhile,
...back at the revival hall, the pastor had finally been wrestled from the pulpit.
Y'got the wrong guy! he yelled just before Sergeant Malone's billy club landed...

Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the UN envoy for Yemen, called for an immediate ceasefire in Yemen, saying that some 21 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance and one million people have been displaced in the fighting in the country.

"It is imperative for all the parties -- and for me everybody is responsible -- to find a truce," the envoy told news hounds.

He further called for the ceasefire to take hold before the end of Ramadan on July 17, adding that the Arab country is on the brink of famine.

"We are one step away from famine," the UN envoy said, adding, "We want to really find a way to lessen the suffering of the population."

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev formally sentenced to death
Moments before a judge sentenced him to death, Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev rose to his feet Wednesday and apologized to the victims and their loved ones for the first time. "I pray for your relief, for your healing," he said.
Apologizing to the dead does them no good.
"I am sorry for the lives that I've taken, for the suffering that I've caused you, for the damage that I've done - irreparable damage," the 21-year-old college student said haltingly in his Russian accent, breaking more than two years of silence.
"I'm sorry I got caught."
After Tsarnaev said his piece, U.S. District Judge George O'Toole Jr. quoted Shakespeare's line "The evil that men do lives after them. The good is often interred with their bones."

"So it will be for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev," the judge said, telling Tsarnaev that no one will remember that his teachers were fond of him, that his friends found him fun to be with or that he showed compassion to disabled people. What will be remembered is that you murdered and maimed innocent people, and that you did it willfully and intentionally.

"You did it on purpose," O'Toole said in ordering that Tsarnaev be executed.

was killed by a booby trap while returning from the town of Gayara to the group's stronghold of Mosul on Tuesday, a Kurdish official told Rudaw.

"ISIS Finance Minister Mohammed Zaalan al-Afari was killed in a booby trap ambush on the Gayara-Mosul road after he took part in the opening of a women's prison for those not committed to sexual jihad," Saeed Mamuzini, a media officer of the Kurdistan Democratic Party's (KDP) 17th branch in Mosul, told Rudaw.
Wait -- so if a female of appropriate age refuses to be a temple prostitute for the greater glory of Allah, they throw her in prison? I need to stop being surprised by this kind of thing.
Sexual jihad is a controversial practice within jihadi groups where women voluntarily offer themselves in a sexual comfort role to fighters.

"Alongside Afari four other Death Eaters were killed by the booby trap," Mamuzini added. The Mosul Independent Youth have grabbed credit for the attack, Mamuzini continued.

According to information obtained by Rudaw, Afari was an Iraqi army officer prior to joining holy warrior jihadi groups in 2004.

Central gov't claims to retake Baiji from ISIS
[RUDAW.NET] Iraqi military forces in a joint operation with Hashd al-Shaabi Shiite militias have regained total control over the oil-rich city of Baiji, according to a military source.

An Iraqi army officer, who asked to remain anonymous, told Rudaw that after a series of fierce festivities with ISIS hard boyz Iraqi military forces finally regained control of Baiji Tuesday night. He added that ISIS hard boyz withdrew from the town and fled north.

On June 7, Shiite hard boyz of Hashd al-Shaabi managed to enter Baiji, located in Iraq's Salahadin province, but they failed to retake control of all parts of the town from ISIS holy warriors.

The Baiji oil refinery, Iraq's largest oil facility, has been the scene of intense fighting for many weeks. It was partially overtaken by ISIS fighters during heavy fighting last month. The military source did not mention fresh fighting at the refinery specifically, but did say the military was approaching the site.

group, police said.

"Fourteen people were killed and at least 24 maimed," a police captain said of the Tuesday night bombing in the Baladruz area of Diyala province, north of Baghdad.

A medical source at the Baladruz hospital confirmed the toll.

The bomber struck "a gathering of notables and figures, most of them from the Al-Nida tribe," the officer said.

An army colonel said that the Al-Nida -- a major Sunni tribe in Diyala province -- had supported the government against Islamic State (IS) group jihadists.

ISIS claimed the suicide kaboom in an online statement Wednesday, saying a Tajik man carried out the attack.

The jihadist group is made up of Sunni Moslems, but does not hesitate to attack Sunnis who oppose it.

Iraq announced in January that Iraqi forces had "liberated" Diyala, significant parts of which had been overrun by IS after the jihadists launched a brutally effective offensive last June.

[Rudaw] The Iraqi Ministry of Defense has announced that a late-night attack by Iraqi forces killed an ISIS leader described as a mufti, or judge, in the murderous Moslem-run Sharia court in Anbar province along with dozens of the group's turbans, according to a statement released on Wednesday.

The statement said a separate military campaign against ISIS elements in the town of Hasbia discovered a huge weapons depot containing light and heavy weapons and anti-aircraft missiles. The weapons cache was destroyed along with 30 forces of Evil who were defending it, according to the statement.

Iraqi fighter jets with the help of intelligence information were reportedly responsible for the death of the ISIS mufti.

Haji Jawad al-Talabawi, a military commander and front man for the Asaib Ahl al-Haq militia, said it is now more effective in street combat and he is hopeful that the tide will turn in favour of government troops and their Shiite militia allies.

"We are using our special forces who were trained fighting in Syria (against ISIS). That has enabled us to fight street-to-street and house-to-house," he told Rooters in a telephone interview. "We are depending on a new strategy."

"We will defeat Daesh in Baiji soon, in a matter of days." Daesh is a mildly pejorative Arabic acronym for ISIS.

Iraqi army and police commanders leading the battle for control of the Baiji refinery told Rooters this week they cannot defeat ISIS unless they change tactics to better cope with the Lion of Islams' guerrilla tactics.
'Last card'

In March, the army and its Iranian-backed Shiite militia allies recaptured former dictator Saddam Hussein's home town Tikrit in the Tigris river valley about 180 km (100 miles) north of Baghdad.

The fighters responded with their own major victory last month, seizing the city of Ramadi in Sunni heartland Anbar Province in the west.

The battle for Baiji, about 40 km (25 miles) north of Tikrit, is an important test of whether the government and Shiite forces can reclaim momentum. But they have so far failed to secure victory there against a mobile and hidden enemy that has proven expert in unconventional warfare.

Talabawi said militias now control 80 percent of Baiji - a claim that could not be independently confirmed. ISIS is resorting to what he called its "last card" in Baiji.

"They have mostly imported muscle from countries like Afghanistan and Pakistain and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
. They have jacket wallahs in place," said Talabawi.

Abu Sayyaf threaten to behead hostages in video
[AA.TR] The Al-Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
group has posted a video online which shows three hostages begging for their ransoms to be paid as their abductors stand by threatening to behead them.

The 3-1/2 minute clip that appeared late Wednesday shows Aliguay Island Barangay village chief Rudy Boligao and coastguards Rodlyn Pagaling and Gringo Villaruz blindfolded, kneeling, making their pleas.

Meanwhile,
...back at the argument, Livia had made her point with her knee to Jane's stomach...
seven masked gunnies, one of them armed with a machete, stand by threatening to execute the men.

Boligao, Pagaling and Villaruz were kidnapped by suspected Abu Sayyaf affiliates at a beach resort in Aliguay Island, Dapitan City - home to two high-end resorts frequented by foreign and domestic tourists - in Zamboanga del Norte in the southern Philippines on May 4.

Authorities had earlier told Anadolu Agency that around 15 Abu Sayyaf gunnies clad in military and police uniforms had landed in Barangay Aliguay Island and kidnapped the victims, and then fled in an unknown direction.

The suspects had reportedly introduced themselves as police and military personnel and asked about the presence of tourists.

In Wednesday's footage, Pagaling is the first to beg for help from President Benigno S. Aquino III, family members and government officials saying that their captors intend to kill them. A machete was raised above his neck as he talked in front of the camera.

"I am Rod Pagaling and a coastguard... We are calling the government to help us, especially the president... President Aquino help us... Help us... They will kill us... Have mercy on us... To the officials and government to our family help us," Pagaling says in his native Tagalog.

NPA official nabbed in Samar
[Inquirer] An alleged high ranking official of the communist New People's Army operating in Samar has been arrested and is now being detained at the provincial jail in Catbalogan City. Erwin Lagucay was nabbed Sunday night and has been charged with illegal possession of explosives. A hand grenade, a blasting cap, two improvised explosive devices and bladed weapons were discovered in his bag during his arrest.

Army officials described Lagucay as a leader of the NPA's Centro de Gravidad and head of the organizing committee of the Jorge Bolito Command. He was said to be a resident of Barangay Villa Aurora in Basey, once a stronghold of the communist group in the region.

Inspector Eric Loterio said, "He was standing on the street when was arrested by the members of the Army’s intelligence group."

Lagucay denied being a leader, and said he was only a member of the militant group. He also admitted involvement in an ambush and a raid on a paramilitary detachment in Sta. Rita. That ambush in 2005 resulted in the death of a policeman.

Tel Abyad full of torture cages of barbaric gangs
[BESTANEWS] Now that YPJ/YPG forces and their allies have driven Daesh out of the city of Girê Spî (Tel Abyad), the brutality of the gang's rule is beginning to emerge.

The people of the recently liberated city have left flowers at the cages that the gang set up across the city.

The city of Girê Spî, Syria was under Daesh occupation for over two years. The city was long a crucial location for Daesh, as it borders Turkey. Girê Spî was a key site where Daesh brought weapons and fighters across the border with the support of the Turkish state.

Cages part of the gang's system for punishing
When reporters traveled to Girê Spî to observe the newly liberated city, the strange cages scattered across the city were initially mysterious.

In interviews with the local population, it emerged that the cages were part of the gang's system for punishing and humiliating the population. Other punishment techniques that civilians reported were killings of women for "adultery" and cutting off the hands of alleged thieves.

Flowers at site of cages
YPG/YPJ fighters have been among those to leave flowers at the site of the cages dotted across the city, which have become a symbol of the cruelty of Daesh occupation. The defense fighters began to cleanse and defeat all the cages and place flowers of freedom inside the them as life is normalizing in the town day after day.

Local source: ISIS demands all Kurds depart Raqqa
[RUDAW.NET] The Islamic State

group has warned Kurdish residents of Raqqa to leave the city in three days, reportedly in an attempt to avoid anti-ISIS sleeper cells, a local source told Rudaw.

The source, who asked to remain anonymous due to security reasons, told Rudaw late Tuesday ISIS has informed Syria's Kurdish families in its stronghold Raqqa to leave and move to nearby areas like Hams and Tadmar.

According to the source, the holy warriors issued a three-day ultimatum to the Kurds inside Raqqa.

"In the letters the ISIS Caliph His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...

"They are scared of Kurdish sleeper cells. They know Kurds will help Kurdish fighters against their gunnies," the source claimed.

The ISIS warning follows a series of major offensives by the Kurdish fighters of the People's Protection Units (YPG) against ISIS in Tal Abyad, known to Kurds as Gire Spi. The Kurdish taking of the city cut off a key ISIS supply road to Raqqa from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

ISIS destroys historic monuments in Palmyra

(IS/ISIS) blew up two monuments in the ancient city of Palmyra in central Syria, IS-linked media sources reported.

Pictures uploaded to a text and image sharing website showed one of the monuments, believed to be the tomb of Sheikh Mohammed Ali, being blown up. Militants from the extreme group destroyed the shrines because they consider them to be sacrilegious.

On Sunday, the Islamic State group (IS/ISIS) planted large deal of explosives and mines in the archaeological locations of the Syrian ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur), as a prelude to detonate them.

The radical group has been in control of the ancient city since last May.

"The group intends to blow up all ancient monuments in Palmyra," said Yazan Qutna, a Syrian civil rights activist.

Syrian antiquities chief Abdul Maamoun Abdulkarim said: "In all the areas where they [IS] spread when they see tombs they destroy them as see them as sacrilegious and a return to paganism."

Hundreds of statues had been moved from the city to safe locations, before the bully boys, who control large swathes of Iraq and Syria, took over, he told Rooters.

This is not the first time that Islamic State has destroyed historic monuments.

In April a video was uploaded in which Lions of Islam were purportedly shown to be destroying artifacts with electric drills and explosives in the city of Nimrud in Iraq and in February another showed people destroying statues in a museum in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...

appealed to the international community to intervene and protect the Syrian ancient city against atrocities of IS group.

Terrorist attacks hit Syria's Hasakah, casualties reported
[ARA] On Tuesday, several kabooms hit the city of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, causing the death and injury of several civilians, local activists reported.

Speaking to ARA News in Hasakah, human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
activist Muhammad Haskawi reported that the first kaboom was a boom-mobile that went kaboom! near a security center for the Kurdish forces of Asayish in Tel Hajar district in northern Hasakah.

The attack left casualties among civilians, beside material damage to surrounding buildings.

"The second kaboom targeted the pro-regime forces near al-Kahraba checkpoint at the southern entrance of the city, amid news of casualties," he added, pointing out that the injured were transferred to medical centers and hospitals across the city.

Civil rights activist Ghassan Mohammed told ARA News in Hasakah that three other kabooms targeted various locations in the city center.

ARA News could not verify the exact numbers of casualties.

In the meantime, the General Command of the Asayish announced that two car kabooms hit the neighborhood of al-Mufti near an Asayish center, causing the death of a number of civilians and the injury of three Kurdish security members.

"Over the last few days, bandidos gunnies of Daesh (ISIS) intensified this cowered strategy of attacks against our people, due to their collapse on the frontlines before our brave forces of the YPG (People's Protection Units) who regained major towns in the province of Raqqa, the group's main stronghold in northeastern Syria," the Asayish General Command said.

Hasakah witnessed Tuesday a security alert in the ranks of both the pro-regime forces and the Kurdish Asayish forces.

The Media Center of the People's Protection Units (YPG) issued Tuesday a statement, of which ARA News received a copy, saying their units liberated several villages north of Raqqa, including Bajaliya, and destroyed an IS-led boom-mobile in the village of Tel al-Hamama (where Turkmen constitute majority) with two gunnies inside.

"A large part of Raqqa's countryside is liberated by our fighters and allied YPG. We are determined to eliminate this terrorist group," Darwish said.

The YPG's leadership pointed out that two of their fighters bit the dust in festivities with IS Death Eaters in the town of Ain Issa, before the Kurdish forces and allied rebels took over the town.

Rebels launch 'South Storm' battle to take full control of Daraa
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Rebels active in southern city of Daraa announced on Wednesday a new battle to take full control of the border city with Jordan.

A motivational video that circulated online by activists has shown rebels' practices, weapons and readiness for the battle of 'South Storm.'

The "Southern Front", an alliance of rebel groups, has inflicted significant defeats on Bashir al-Assad in the last three months, notably by capturing the Nasib border crossing with Jordan on April 1.

Southern region, including Daraa city, is of strategic importance due to its proximity to Damascus and neighboring states Israel and Jordan. It is also the last significant foothold of mainstream rebels, who have mostly been crushed elsewhere in Syria by government forces or jihadist groups, according to AP.

More than 230,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict began in March 2011 with anti-government demonstrations that were met with a regime crackdown.

of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group have killed 10 Syrian soldiers in the northeastern city of Hasakeh, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Wednesday.

Separately, at least 13 non-combatants were killed in a car kaboom against a mosque in a village near the capital Damascus, the monitor said.

All three incidents occurred Tuesday night, AFP reported.

"Ten soldiers were killed and 16 others injured in two suicide kabooms carried out by ISIS against army positions in Hasakeh," the Britannia-based Observatory said.

"The first attack was carried out by three jihadists against a military barracks in the center of town, while the second was carried out by one suicide bomber against a checkpoint near a children's hospital."

A third suicide bomber hit a post manned by the Kurdish security forces in the city, causing serious damage to buildings in the area but no deaths.

Control of Hasakeh, which is ethnically mixed, is divided between Syrian troops and Kurdish forces.

On May 30, ISIS launched a bid to enter the city, but was pushed back after violent festivities with Syrian troops and Kurdish fighters.

Early Wednesday, ISIS has also carried a surprise attack on predominantly Alawite villages in the eastern countryside of Homs, killing 20 members of paramilitary National Defense Units, according to Zaman al-Wasl sources.

Elsewhere in the country, the Observatory said 13 non-combatants were killed when a boom-mobile went kaboom! in front of a mosque in the village of al-Tall as worshippers were leaving prayers.

More than 230,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict began with anti-government protests before spiraling into a war after a regime crackdown.

Syrian regime frees 574 detainees in Justice Minister swap deal: source
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] A well-informed source told Zaman al-Wasl a swap deal carried out between Syrian regime and Islam Army last two weeks was behind the release of Justice Minister who was kidnapped by the key rebel group on June 9.

A judicial source said regime security had released 574 detainees mostly from the city of Douma, the hometown of Islam Army's commander, Zahran Alloush, in an exchange for Justice Minister, Najm al-Ahmed, and tens of people who were taken hostages by Islam Army in Adra al-O'malia offensive near Damascus early 2014.

The source said that Islam Army had deliberately denied al-Ahmed kidnapping in an effort to complete the exchange deal.

Islam Army also has received more 300 million Syrian pound in the exchange deal, source said.

The key rebel group in Eastern Ghouta district near Damascus has 6 secret prisons where more than 5000 people loyal to Bashir al-Assad regime are still in detention, according to Zaman al-Wasl sources.
