Two gunmen killed in Kandahar attack
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Two gunnies were killed in a shootout with security forces in Kandahar city, the lovely provincial capital of southern Kandahar province.

Samim Khpalwak, front man for the governor of Kandahar said that the clash erupted gunnies attacked a security check post in Khwajak Baba area of the 4th police district around 3 pm this afternoon.

He said that two attackers were killed and a policeman sustained injuries in the skirmish.

This comes after a jacket wallah riding a vehicle full of explosives targeted a facility of Quick Reaction Force in Pashtun-infested Logar province leaving six people killed.

Those killed included three civilians as the suicide kaboomer detonated his explosives in an area where a crowd of visitors were waiting to meet members of the provincial council.

There was no claim of responsibility for the attack in Kandahar by the time this report was filed but Taliban took responsibility for the attack in Pashtun-infested Logar.

'Father of Taliban' Sami ul-Haq pledge allegiance to Mullah Mansoor
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] An influential Pak religious scholar who was once labelled as the 'Father of Taliban' has pledged allegiance to the newly appointed Taliban supreme leader Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor.

Several other religious holy mans from Afghanistan and Pakistain pleged allegiance to Mullah Mansoor during a gathering presided over by Maulana Sami ul-Haq.

The holy mans were associated with Darul Uloom Haqqania
...an Islamic seminary located in Akora Khattak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The seminary propagates the Deobandi trend of Sunni Islam and is headed by Maulana Samiul Haq, known as the Godfather of the Taliban. It has been dubbed The University of Jihad due to the methods and content of instruction along with the future occupations of its alumni....
in Akora Khattak in the Nowshera district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central...
province of Pakistain.

The former Taliban supreme leader Mullah Mohammad Omar is said to have graduated from the 4,000-student religious seminary along with several top cadres of the Afghan Taliban.

According to the Pak media reports, Maulana Sami ul-Haq along with the other holy mans called upon Afghan Ulema and people to forge unity in their ranks and submit to the leadership of Mullah Mansoor in order to 'foil the designs of infidels'.

Mullah Omar
... a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality...
was mysteriously killed in a hospital in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
city of Pakistain in the month of April in 2013, according to the Afghan intelligence and top Taliban capo Mansoor Dadullah.

Taliban formally confirmed the death of Mullah Omar by issuing a statement last week and later announced the Mullah Mansoor was appointed as the group's new supreme leader.

Reports regarding the death of Mullah Omar emerged last week suggesting Pakistain have confirmed the death of Mullah Mohammad Omar to the Afghan government.

Mullah Omar's death was first confirmed by a splinter group of the Taliban -- Afghanistan Islamic Movement Fidai Mahaz, which claimed that he was assassinated Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansoor and Gull Agha.
Gul Agha Sherzai gave the Talibs their start, when they strung up some of his ruthless henchmen for raping young girls. He resumed his seat as governor of Kandahar under the early Karzai regime. Karzai appointed somebody else and Gul Agha chased him off. He later tried to establish himself in Herat and that didn't work, and I think he went from there to Khost. Anything they say against him I'm willing to believe. I'm sure he keeps a villain suit in his closet.
The group's front man Qari Hamza said Mullah Omar was killed two years ago in the same month of July.

Hamza claimed that the group has evidences to prove their claims that Mullah Omar was killed by Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansoor and Gull Agha.

Afghan Military Helicopter Crash Claims 17 People
[ALMANAR.LB] At least 17 people, including 12 Afghan army soldiers, were killed Thursday in a helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan, the worst such incident suffered by military forces since December.

The military helicopter went down due to technical fault in Shinkay, a district relatively free of bad boy activity in the otherwise volatile province of Zabul.

"Five crew and 12 soldiers were killed when the helicopter crashed in Shinkay district of Zabul province due to technical issues," a provincial police official said.

Shinkay district chief Mohammad Qasim Khan confirmed the corpse count, with an army commander saying an official delegation has been dispatched to the area to investigate the crash.

Aircraft crashes have been a regular risk for Afghan and foreign coalition forces, with troops relying heavily on air transport to traverse Afghanistan's rugged terrain.

IS suicide attack on mosque for Saudi forces kills 15
[DAWN] A blast probably triggered by a jacket wallah killed 15 people on Thursday at a mosque inside a special forces headquarters in Soddy Arabia

near the border with Yemen.

An interior ministry front man said the terrorist attack took place during noon prayers in the city of Abha, in the southern province of Asir.

Twelve of those killed were members of a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit, while the other three were workers at the compound, officials said. Seven people were also maimed.

The self-styled Islamic State

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. (IS) has grabbed credit for the attack.

Thursday's bombing was the deadliest in a series in recent weeks against Saudi security forces, who have been targeted in attacks blamed on IS.

"The terrorist attack struck worshippers during prayer," the front man said, giving an initial toll of 10 coppers and three workers killed and nine people maimed.

Al-Akhbariya state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
later said that two coppers maimed in the "heinous" attack had died, bringing the corpse count to 15.

The interior ministry front man said the attack was likely carried out by a suicide bomber, saying that "body parts found at the scene" indicated the use of explosive vests.

The governor of Asir province, Prince Faisal bin Khaled bin Abdel Aziz, visited the site of the attack and the maimed in hospital, condemning the bombing.

"The attack is aimed at destabilising the country and sowing fear among citizens," he said, according to the official Saudi Press agency (SPA).
Rooters adds:
The attacker struck as men were praying in the mosque in the headquarters of the Special Emergency Force in Abha, the capital of Asir province, a ministry front man told state news agency SPA.

A statement circulating on Twitter said an Islamic State suicide bomber had attacked a "military camp" in Asir province. It did not mention a mosque and Rooters could not verify the statement's authenticity.

"He (the suicide bomber) was able to infiltrate security barriers and reach their wicked gathering inside a training camp in Abha City in the Asir area where the force of the kaboom led to the death and injury of dozens," the statement, purporting to come from Islamic State, said.

Europe
Macedonia Arrests Nine over Jihadist Links
[AnNahar] Macedonian police said Thursday they locked away

nine people, including a holy man believed to be the group's leader, who are suspected of recruiting or fighting for Islamist groups in the Middle East.

Authorities were also searching for 27 more people, the Interior Minister Mitko Chavkov told news hounds.

"The goal of the police operation was to identify people who recruit Macedonian jihadists to go and fight on fronts in the Middle East, as well as people who have come back from war or are still fighting there," the minister said.

Among the suspects arrested in operations on Wednesday and Thursday is Rexhep Memishi, imam from a mosque in the capital Skopje, believed to be the group's leader, Chavkov added.

The group members, aged between 19 and 49, will be charged with participating in foreign armies and paramilitary groups, police said.

According to Macedonia's criminal code, joining in conflicts abroad as well as recruiting citizens to fight in foreign conflicts is punishable by five years in jail.

"We know that these people possess false passports and that they were going through The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
to (battle) fronts," Chavkov said, adding that the probe has yet to find out which group the suspects were linked to.

"Police so far have no information that these persons have planned terrorist attacks in Macedonia," the minister said.

Police raided a number of locations in Skopje and in four more northeastern Macedonian towns, seizing computers, mobile telephone cards and money.

According to Macedonian police, some 130 Macedonian citizens have fought or are still fighting in Syria or other Middle East countries.

India-Pakistan
Neelum Valley teen dies in 'dud shell' explosion
[DAWN] A teenage boy was killed and his peer was injured in what officials say was a 'dud shell' kaboom in Neelum Valley of Azad Jammu and Kashmire (AJK) on Thursday.

Sajawat, 13, son of Ibrahim, and a school friend, Akhlaq, son of Abdul Rehman, found the 'toy bomb' in Kali Gatti village of Subhai Doodnial, around 125 kilometres northeast of Muzaffarabad, in the upper belt of Neelum Valley, police official Mohammad Farooq told Dawn via telephone.

The toy-bomb kaboom killed Sajwat on the spot and critically injured Akhlaq, who is being treated at a military-run health facility in the area, Farooq added.

The incident, however, is not an anomaly for those living along the Line of Control, which has been the scene of regular skirmishes and artillery duels, even after Indian and Pak troops struck a historic cease-fire accord in November 2003.

A number of casualties have occurred along the unmarked dividing line where residents, mostly children, either play with "dud shells" or "bomblets" out of ignorance.

According to military officials, dud shells are ammunition that fail to fire or explode, whereas bomblets are parts of a medium artillery shell, often spread out in a targeted area after a shell explodes.

Bomblets usually remain activated from 24 to 48 hours.

But in some cases, it takes quite some time before bomblets become passive. The size of the oval-shaped explosives range from 4 to 5 inches, and because of their shape, they are also referred to as 'toy bombs' by villagers.

Areas along the LoC were littered with dud shells and bomblets prior to the November 2003 Indo-Pak agreement, but their numbers began decreasing considerably afterwards.

Yet given the sporadic incidents of cease-fire violations by Indian troops, these misfired explosives are still found in some areas along the dividing line and cause casualties, notwithstanding frequent warnings by the authorities against touching them.

US drone strike kills five 'militants' in North Waziristan
[DAWN] A US drone attack on a myrmidon compound in North Wazoo on Thursday killed at least five myrmidons, security officials said.

Military sources said the drone strike took place in Lawra Mandi village of Datta Khel in the North Waziristan tribal district bordering Afghanistan, where the military is battling Talibs.

The drone fired two missiles targeting a house, killing at least five suspected myrmidons, sources said.

"At least five holy warriors were killed in the drone attack," security bigshot told AFP.

confirmed the attack and the casualties.

The area is generally off-limits to journalists, making it difficult to independently verify the number and identity of the dead.

North Waziristan is among Pakistain's seven tribal districts near the Afghan border which are rife with forces of Evil and have been strongholds of Taliban and Al Qaeda operatives, among others.

Twelve feared dead in chopper crash near Mansehra
[NATION.PK] A military helicopter being used as an air ambulance crashed near the northern district of Mansehra
...a city and an eponymous district in eastern Khyber-Pakthunwa, nestled snug up against Pak Kashmir, with Kohistan and Diamir to the north and Abbottabad to the south...
on Thursday, and the 12 people on board were feared dead, military officials said.

Two security officials said there appeared to be no link to Lion of Islam activity. The helicopter was flying from the city of Rawalpindi, near Islamabad, to the northern area of Gilgit, which has been hit by floods.

"There were 12 people on board, all military men. There were doctors, paramedic and aviation people in the chopper," a senior military official said.

He said the helicopter crashed over the mountains in the Mohar area of northern Mansehra district.

"We are on the way to the spot of the chopper crash and I am afraid no one has survived but it's not confirmed yet," he said.

He said it appeared the helicopter may have crashed due to bad weather.

The incident is the second fatal crash involving Pak military helicopters this year. In May, a helicopter crash killed seven people, including three ambassadors.

Iraq
Young woman killed by ISIS missiles in Makhmour
This is the only thing that happened yesterday in Iraq and Syria, according to Rudaw. It must still be too darn hot.
[Rudaw] A 20-years-old woman was reportedly killed and two other women were heavily injured Wednesday by a missile attack launched by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, or ISIS, on the town of Makhmour.

"The girl was standing outdoors with two other women when the missiles were fired at her house. The girl was able to escape from the first missile but when the second missile was fired, she lost her legs and died before she arrived to West Emergency Hospital in Erbil. The other two women were heavily injured," witnesses told Rudaw.

The attack was launched at 10am on Wednesday. Later, an American team arrived at the site of the shelling and took the missiles with them, another witness claimed.

ISIS has recently launched different types of attacks on Makhmour, including firing missiles, but all have been repelled by the Peshmerga. Initial reports from the rocket site indicate the missiles were Russian-made Grad rockets
...Soviet-developed 122-mm rockets, usually launched from trucks. Newer versions are reported to have a range of up to 30 km....
, but this was unconfirmed.

"ISIS has no more power to fight off the Peshmerga, especially after we destroyed their tanks and Humvees in the battlefield. We promise the people of Makhmour that ISIS bully boyz will never put Makhmour in danger."

ISIS positions are less than 21 km away from Makmour, prompting Peshmerga forces to have strengthened their security measures.

Even so, Peshmerga, the time is over for the Islamic State snuffies to advance into the borders of north of Kurdistan.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hamas hands down death penalty to suspected spy
[Ynet] A military court in Gaza sentenced a Palestinian to death by hanging Thursday, for alledgedly collaborating with the Israeli enemy, said a source close to the court .

The accused, identified only by his initials AS, "was sentenced to death by hanging after being convicted of collaborating with the occupier", the term the authorities use for Israel, the source said.

The death sentences imposed in the Gaza should theoretically be approved by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. But Hamas, the Islamist movement in power in Gaza, does not recognize his legitimacy.

4 dead, dozens injured in Gaza blast near house leveled in summer war
[WASHINGTONPOST] Four people were killed and at least 43 injured here Thursday after an explosion near the ruins of a house that was destroyed last summer in an Israeli airstrike, according to Gaza health officials.

Initial reports suggested that the blast was caused by unexploded ordnance left behind by Israel following the 50-day war it fought with the militant group Hamas in Gaza last year. However, neither Hamas, which rules the coastal enclave, nor Israel would confirm the cause of the explosion.

Ashraf al-Qidra, a spokesman for Gaza’s Health Ministry, said the men who were killed had been clearing rubble from the destroyed house in the al-Shabura refugee camp in Rafah, southern Gaza. They were all members of one family.

Eyad Al-Bozom, a spokesman for the Hamas-run Interior Ministry, said the ministry was still investigating the cause of the explosion.
Updates at 7:45 a.m. ET:
The Times of Israel quotes Ma'an naming the dead:
The Paleostinian Ma'an news agency named the four killed as Bakr Hasan Abu Naqira, Abdul-Rahman Abu Naqira, Ahmad Hasan Abu Naquira, and Hassan Ahmad Abu Naqira, all members of the same family.
And An Nahar adds a key fact about one of the dead, suggesting the possibility that it might be something other than Israeli ordnance that exploded:
Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,'s military wing, mourned in a statement the death of group member Abdel Rahman Abu Naqira, who was "martyred in the accidental kaboom."

Fatah Army regains villages from Army near Sahl al-Ghab, fears rise amid supporters
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] In less than one week, key Islamist rebel group, the Fatah Army, was able to regain villages and hills from Syrian regime army in northern province of Idlib, a move has triggered panic amid Bashir al-Assad's supporters in the neighboring Sahl al-Ghab plain and pushed tens of Alawite families to fled their villages.

Last Saturday, the regime army and allied militia NDF had regained control over several northwestern villages from rebels in Sahl al-Ghab which is crucial for defending coastal areas that Assad holds. But very soon its victories returned to humiliating defeats.

On Tuesday, the alliance of Islamist groups took control of Tel Hekmah, Tel A'awar and Marj al-Zuhour near south of Jisr al-Shughour town to the northeast of Sahl al-Ghab, as well rebels have recaptured Zaizoun thermal station in the plain, activists said.

The predominantly Alawite plain is considered as a main manpower supply for Assad army. Activists who praised the advances on social media say rebels' progress can not be stoppable.

The Army of Conquest, or Fatah Army, has made advances against the military in several parts of Syria in recent months, including capturing most of Idlib province.
