US drone strike kills 15 TTP militants in Afghanistan
[DAWN] DERA KHAN: A US drone strike killed at least 15 snuffies associated with the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) in Afghanistan's Gomal district on Wednesday, intelligence officials said on Friday, as part of an intensifying drone campaign against Talibs in Afghanistan.

Three intelligence officials confirmed Wednesday's strike in an area bordering the South Wazoo region in Pakistain.

"Fifteen dead bodies of killed snuffies will be shifted soon to their native areas in Dera Ismail Khan
... the Pearl of Pashtunistan ...
," one of the officials said.

They confirmed that the 15 forces of Evil belonged to the Gandapur faction of the TTP led by Mullah Fazlullah
...son-in-law of holy man Sufi Mohammad. Known as Mullah FM, Fazlullah had the habit of grabbing his FM mike when the mood struck him and bellowing forth sermons. Sufi suckered the Pak govt into imposing Shariah on the Swat Valley and then stepped aside whilst Fazlullah and his Talibs imposed a reign of terror on the populace like they hadn't seen before, at least not for a thousand years or so. For some reason the Pak intel services were never able to locate his transmitter, much less bomb it. After ruling the place like a conquered province for a year or so, Fazlullah's Talibs began gobbling up more territory as they pushed toward Islamabad, at which point as a matter of self-preservation the Mighty Pak Army threw them out and chased them into Afghanistan...
, who grabbed credit for the massacre of more than 130 pupils at the Army Public School in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar

last December.

Tracking of drone strikes in Afghanistan is patchy -- many of them take place in remote regions and are not reported -- but Taliban capos say that fighters there have been increasingly targeted since late last year.
This is a good thing.
The strikes come a week after Pakistain and Afghanistan agreed to end a blame game over a spate of Death Eater attacks and work to restore trust.

Afghanistan's Caped President Ashraf Ghani

made closer ties with Pakistain a priority when he took office last year, hoping Islamabad could push Afghan Taliban leaders to the negotiating table to end Afghanistan's long war.

The relationship appeared to yield fruit in July with groundbreaking official peace talks with the Death Eaters.

But after confirmation of the death of the group's founder Mullah Omar

The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality...

, killing more than 50 people and souring relations between Pakistain and Afghanistan.

Raghistan District of Badakhshan Collapses To Taliban
[Tolo News] Raghistan district of Badakhshan province has collapsed to the Taliban after two days of heavy festivities with security forces, local officials said Friday.

Jawed Mujadadi a provincial council member told TOLOnews that the district collapsed into the hands of the Taliban at 3am on Friday morning.

So far details on casualties have not been revealed, Mujadadi said.

Kenya Launches Jihadist Hunt in Coastal Forest
[AnNahar] Kenyan forces on Friday launched a massive security operation in a forest in the country's coastal northeast which officials say is being used as a hideout by Somalia's al-Qaeda-affiliated Shabaab rebels.

Interior Minister Joseph Nkaissery launched the operation a week after police warned the area's residents to hand over any weapons and leave ahead of an "imminent security operation."

"We would like you to move so that we can clean the forest to eject the criminals that are in there," Nkaissery said Friday at the public launch of the operation in Mpeketoni, where Islamic Lions of Islam massacred around 48 people last year, close to the once-popular tourist island of Lamu.

The minister -- joined by military chief Samson Mwathethe and police chief Joseph Boinnet -- made the announcement to thousands of local residents after meeting for lunch on Friday.

A week earlier, Boinnet said the huge 2,200-square-kilometer (850-square-mile) Boni forest, straddling Garissa and Lamu counties and bordering Somalia, had become a sanctuary for Shabaab Lion of Islams.

Boinnet ordered residents -- many of them traditional hunters -- to "surrender all arms and ammunitions in their possession" and leave the "disturbed and dangerous place" ahead of an imminent security operation.

Officials suspect hundreds of Shabaab Lions of Islam are holed up in the forest. Kenya's army and paramilitary police unit will participate in the 'Linda Boni' ('Protect Boni') operation, which is excepted to last up to three months.

Boni forest borders Somalia, where Shabaab originated, and Kenyan officials believe recent attacks -- including a failed assault on an army post in June in which British jihadist Thomas Evans was killed -- were launched from the reserve.

Egypt says it has killed 98 militants in Sinai operation
[Al Ahram] Egyptian security forces have killed 98 Lions of Islam in Sinai during a recent military operation, the military said on Friday.

Egypt is battling an insurgency that gained pace after the overthrow of President Mohammed Morsi of the Moslem Brüderbund Islamist movement in mid-2013 after mass protests against his rule.

The insurgency, mounted by Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi describes Islamist militancy as an existential threat to Egypt, the most populous Arab state.

Islamic State group controls large parts of Iraq and Syria, has a presence in Libya and enjoys the support of Lions of Islam in Egypt.

Egypt Car Bomb Kills Woman, Child in Sinai
[ALMANAR.LB] A boom-mobileing killed an Egyptian woman and a child Friday in the North Sinai town of Rafah, where the military is engaged in a sweeping campaign against Extremists, the army said.

The military said that the bomb went off as troops combed the border town neighboring the Paleostinian Gazoo Strip, and there were no army casualties.

The army announced on Monday it has launched an offensive against the Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
ISIL group's affiliate. Since Monday, 134 forces of Evil were killed, the army said, adding that at least two soldiers were killed during the operation.

The military says it has killed more than 1,000 forces of Evil since 2013, but the figures are difficult to independently verify.

The army is struggling to quell a murderous Moslem insurgency in the Sinai Peninsula that has killed hundreds of soldiers and coppers since 2013, when the army ousted president Mohammad Mursi.

Seven Dead in Blast at Nigerian Camp for Boko Haram Displaced
[AnNahar] At least seven people were killed and 20 others injured in a blast at a camp for people displaced by the Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
conflict in northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
, the country's main relief agency said on Wednesday.

A homemade bomb planted inside a tent went off shortly before 11:00 am (1000 GMT) at the Malkohi internally displaced persons (IDP) camp near the Adamawa state capital, Yola.

"So far seven persons bit the dust and 20 persons were maimed in the kaboom," a front man for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Sani Datti, said in a statement.

"Among the injured, seven were treated and discharged while 13 persons, including four NEMA officials, are still receiving treatment at (the) Federal Medical Center, Yola."

There was no immediate claim of responsibility but Boko Haram Islamists have previously hit "soft" civilian targets with improvised bombs (IEDs) or suicide kabooms.

Adamawa state police front man Othman Abubakar initially gave a lower toll of two dead and seven injured, while the Red Thingy said three had been killed and nine injured.

Suleiman Mohammed, director of response, relief and rehabilitation at the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), told AFP five were killed and 20 injured.

The Adamawa state governor, Jibrilla Bindow, was reported as telling a meeting of northern governors that some of the many children at the camp were among the dead.

Lionel Rawlings, head of security at the American University of Nigeria (AUN), which is based in Yola, confirmed student volunteers were slightly injured by flying debris.

"None was in direct contact with the kaboom but there was flying shrapnel. We dodged the bullet," he said.

- Homemade bomb -
Abubakar and Mohammed both said the blast was caused by an IED left by tents in the sprawling camp, which is just outside Yola to the south and near an army base.

Security had been tight after hundreds of women and kiddies held hostage by Boko Haram were brought to the camp after they were rescued by the military earlier this year. Armed soldiers manned the gates and carried out checks on vehicles and passengers, AFP news hounds witnessed on a visit to the camp in May.

"Our men are there," said Abubakar. "They are trying to find if there are any other explosives."

Yola has been seen as a relative safe haven from the violence and last year its population more than doubled in size to about 400,000 as those made homeless flocked to the city. Many of the displaced were housed at state-run camps or stayed with relatives and friends.

At Least 20 Dead as Rebel Rockets Hit Market in Yemen's Marib
[AnNahar] Iran-backed rebels fired Katyusha rockets at a busy market in Yemen's eastern city of Marib killing at least 20 people on Friday, medics and witnesses said.

"Twenty non-combatants were killed and dozens maimed" in the attack, a medical official said. Witnesses said the scenic provincial capital's market was targeted.

The attack came hours after a Saudi-led coalition air strike killed seven rebels in Marib, where Apache helicopters have also joined the fight against Huthi Shiite Death Eaters and their allies.

The coalition strike targeted a military vehicle used by the rebels in Marib province, while other air raids targeted rebel positions in neighbouring Shabwa, military sources said.

Turkey hits 64 PKK targets in new Iraq air strikes
[Hurriyet Daily News] Turkish warplanes struck 64 outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) targets in overnight raids on northern Iraq, dropping 80 bombs, according to reports on Sept. 11.

At least 60 PKK holy warriors were killed in the strikes, carried out by 21 Turkish F-16 and F-4 warplanes, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported, quoting security sources.

The toll could not be verified independently. The strikes, which ran from late Sept. 10 to dawn Sept. 11, are the latest in a relentless air campaign aimed at crippling the PKK, which has staged a string of attacks in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

in recent weeks.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wreckage, Captain Poindexter wished he had a cup of coffee. Even instant would do...
Iraq has condemned Turkey for sending ground troops onto its territory in pursuit of the PKK holy warriors, calling it a "clear violation" of its illusory sovereignty.

"The foreign ministry expresses its condemnation of the incursion of a number of Turkish military units inside Iraqi territory," front man Ahmed Jamal said in a statement.

"It represents a clear violation of Iraqi illusory sovereignty and a clear offence to bilateral relations between the two countries," he said.

Turkish special forces entered Iraq on Sept. 8 in what officials termed a "short-term" incursion in pursuit of the PKK following attacks that killed more than two dozen soldiers and police.

Mayor of Turkey's Cizre dismissed by ministry over terror charges
[Hurriyet Daily News] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's Interior Ministry has dismissed the mayor of a southeastern town over inciting people to armed uprising and terror propaganda, hours after an announcement that the curfew would be lifted.

Interior Minister dismissed Cizre Mayor Leyla Imret over an investigation launched by the Chief Prosecutor's Office in Cizre into Imret, charging her with inciting people to armed uprising and terror propaganda.

A curfew which was implemented late Sept. 4 in the Cizre district of southeastern Turkey's Sirnak province would be removed as of 7:00 a.m. on Sept. 12, Sirnak Governor's office said on Sept. 11 soon after three markets and one bakery were permitted to open with telephone and internet lines also opened to access.

The GSM and internet lines were reportedly opened for usage during the day on Sept. 11 but would be once again blocked at night, while three markets and one bakery, which serves at most five loaves of bread to each family, were allowed to open for citizens to meet their needs after eight days of being forcefully confined to their homes due to the curfew announced on Sept. 4, Dogan News Agency reported.

Ali Riza Alaboyun, the energy and natural resources minister of the interim government, told a group of journalists on Sept. 11 in Ankara that power distribution units in Cizre could have been damaged on a small scale "but the electricity flowing to Cizre and the transformers were actively working."

Sattar said his party had given a list of 150 "disappeared" workers to the prime minister, his cabinet members, Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah and the DG Rangers.

"But no action has so far been taken on our demand and at least four of those 150 workers have been extra judicially killed," alleged Sattar.

But the paramilitary force, which has been in charge of the security operation in the city since 2013, in a blurb on Friday said MQM's allegations were "baseless propaganda."

Gun Battle Claims Four in Indian Kashmir
[ALMANAR.LB] Fighting in Indian-administered Kashmire killed two soldiers and two suspected persons Friday, as representatives from India and Pakistain met to discuss security on the disputed frontier.

The deaths were the latest to occur in recent weeks, which have seen an upsurge in firing by both sides across the militarized border.

Police claimed the fighting broke out late Thursday after the army received a tip-off that snuffies were in Laribal village, some 70 kilometers northwest of the main city of Srinagar.

The firefight between both sides left two persons and two Indian soldiers killed.

India regularly accuses Pakistain of arming and training what it called 'rebels' to infiltrate what it sees as its territory.

Islamabad denies the allegation, saying it only provides diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination.

News of the latest deaths came as Pak paramilitary officials met India's Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi to discuss border security.

JUI-F leader held on hate speech charge
[DAWN] A team of the Counter-Terrorism Department placed in durance vile
Please don't kill me!
JUI-F leader and former MPA Mufti Kifayatullah for allegedly making a hate speech here late on Wednesday night.

Mr Kifayatullah had come here from Mansehra
...a city and an eponymous district in eastern Khyber-Pakthunwa, nestled snug up against Pak Kashmir, with Kohistan and Diamir to the north and Abbottabad to the south...
to attend the 'Istehkam Pakistain Conference' convened by Maulana Ilyas Chinioti, a PML-N MPA.

Sources said the CTD cop shoppe in Faisalabad
...formerly known as Lyallpur, the third largest metropolis in Pakistain, the second largest in Punjab after Lahore. It is named after some Arab because the Paks didn't have anybody notable of their own to name it after...
had started the paperwork but haven't done much else against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act for speaking against state institutions and praising terrorists.

The sources said that Mr Kifayatullah had criticised Zarb-e-Azb
..the Pak offensive against Qaeda in Pakistain and the Pak Taliban in North Wazoo. The name refers to the sword of the Prophet (PTUI!)...
operation and allegedly glorified Malik Ishaq, a leader of the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi
... a 'more violent' offshoot of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain. LeJ's purpose in life is to murder anyone who's not of utmost religious purity, starting with Shiites but including Brelvis, Ahmadis, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Rosicrucians, and just about anyone else you can think of. They are currently a wholly-owned subsidiary of al-Qaeda ...
killed recently in a police encounter, to stir up sectarian hatred. He also raised slogans against the state institutions.

Eight button men belonging to a 'political party' held
[DAWN] KARACHI: The south zone police on Thursday claimed to have locked away
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
eight suspected hit men allegedly belonging to a "famous political party of Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
," the Karachi-south DIG said.

Speaking at a presser at his office, Dr Jamil Ahmed added that the held hit men had 'confessed' to killing at least one dozen people in different parts of the city.

The DIG-South said the suspects -- Mohammed Kalam Bihari; Kamran, alias Kami; Adnan, alias Audi; Farhan; Haider Aijaz; Shahbaz; Syed Shahroz and Ateeb -- were detained in the Lyari
...one of the eighteen constituent towns of the city of Karachi. It is the smallest town by area in the city but also the most densely populated. Lyari has few schools, substandard hospitals, a poor water system, limited infrastructure, and broken roads. It is a stronghold of ruling Pakistan Peoples Party. Ubiquitous gang activity and a thriving narcotics industry make Lyari one of the most disturbed places in Karachi, which is really saying a lot....
and Malir areas.

Two Kalashnikovs, two pistols, one car and several mobile phones were seized from their possession, he added.

They have allegedly killed people in Orangi Town, Pakistain Bazaar, Iqbal Market, Zaman Town, North Nazimabad and Nazimabad areas.

Asked about identity of the victims, Dr Jamil merely said that the suspects had no personal enmity with them (victims). Apart from assassinations, they were involved in extortion and street crimes, he added.

He said that Mohammed Kalam Bihari and Haider Aijaz were "known hit mans" while the rest were their accomplices.

Replying to a question, the DIG-South admitted that street crimes were a serious problem as there were many complaints of citizens specially in Clifton and Defence areas regarding it.

He added that he had given special task to SSP-South Dr Mohammed Farooq to control street crimes in Clifton and Defence and that a new cop shoppe, Sahil, had been set up for this purpose.

12 Found Guilty in 2006 Mumbai Bombings
[TIME] An Indian court pronounced 12 men guilty on Friday for carrying out the 2006 series of train bombings in Mumbai.

The blasts killed 180 people and maimed over 800 on July 11, 2006, when seven pressure-cooker bombs detonated across the city within 15 minutes during rush hour. The men face the death penalty or life in prison at their Monday sentencing, the BBC reports.

"Justice has been done for the people of Mumbai. I will ask for the strictest punishment when I argue for their sentences," the public prosecutor said.

The trial lasted for years after the attacks, and the judge reached Friday's ruling after 13 months. A thirteenth man, accused of harboring the other 12, was acquitted.

Rebels storm Syria's largest prison near Damascus
[Al Ahram] An Islamist rebel group stormed Syria's largest prison on Friday, seizing two buildings in the complex near Damascus amid heavy fighting, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

"Jaish al-Islam
...Liwa al-Islam (Brigade of Islam) was established by Zahran Alloush, the son of Saudi-based religious scholar Abdullah Mohammed Alloush, after Syrian authorities released him from prison in mid-2011 where he had been serving time for his Salafist activism. The group claimed responsibility for carrying out the July 2012 Damascus bombing that killed Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Asef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani. It was a driving force behind actions in the Damascus region. It cooperated and conducted joint operations with al-Nusra. In Sptember 2013 Saudi Arabia engineered Liwa al-Islam's merger with fifty other more or less Salafist groups as a counterweight to al-Nusra, which the Learned Elders of Islam considered was growing too powereful...
entered Adra prison and seized two buildings in the women's section of the complex," said Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman.

The rebels launched an offensive Wednesday on the regime-held complex, which lies in the Eastern Ghouta suburb of Damascus, capturing a hilltop before seizing part of the facility, he told AFP.

"Most of the prisoners there are activists, political figures, and human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
defenders who are against the regime" of Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Terror of Aleppo ...
, said Abdel Rahman.

At least 5,000 prisoners are being held at the facility, almost twice its capacity of about 3,000 prisoners, he added.

When Jaish al-Islam announced their upcoming offensive, security personnel in the women's section fled, taking the female detainees with them.

In an online statement, the rebel group said it had taken control of a hilltop and buildings around the prison as well.

Video footage published alongside the statement showed men firing heavy weapons beyond a wall of sandbags, while others darted between buildings carrying machine guns.

Corpses which the rebels claimed to be security forces who died trying to defend the prison could also be seen in the video.

Jaish al-Islam is the most powerful rebel group in the opposition stronghold of Eastern Ghouta, where Al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, Al-Nusra Front, is also present.

The prison in Adra has been targeted in the past by heavy rocket fire, and last month at least 11 people were killed and 56 maimed when rockets fell outside the prison, according to state media.

Bombs kill 13 Iraq Kurds in anti-IS operation
[Al Ahram] Bombs killed 13 members of the Iraqi Kurdish peshmerga forces during an operation against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. jihadist group in the northern province of Kirkuk on Friday, officers said.

"The aim (of the operation) is to secure the Baghdad-Kirkuk road and the centre of the Daquq district and to end activity by (IS) members," said Mohammed Mustafa Hama, a brigadier general in the autonomous Kurdish region's peshmerga forces.

Hama said that roadside kabooms and explosives-rigged vehicles left by the jihadists killed 13 peshmerga and maimed 47 during the operation, figures confirmed by a second Kurdish brigadier general who declined to be identified by name.

The second officer said the operation was launched at dawn on Friday with support from international coalition aircraft, and had succeeded in retaking 10 villages from IS.

Kurdish forces also retook villages from IS in Kirkuk in a similar operation in late August.

IS overran large areas of Iraq in a devastating offensive in June 2014, sweeping security forces aside, and drove Kurdish forces back towards their regional capital that August.

A US-led coalition began carrying out air strikes against the jihadists and Kurdish forces have since pushed the jihadists back, as have Iraqi federal forces in other areas.

But much of western Iraq remains under IS control.
Rudaw adds:
General Yaseen Abdulla of the 9th Peshmerga Brigade said the offensive was supported by coalition Arclight airstrikes targeting positions of the Islamic State group (ISIS).

He said the Peshmerga casualties were from ISIS snipers and buried landmines around the villages.

"We have two mobile hospitals with us there which treat the maimed," Abdulla said, adding that US military doctors were also involved in treating maimed Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Region.

The Peshmerga launched a three-pronged ground offensive to drive out ISIS gunnies from 13 villages on Friday morning. Abdullah said at least two of them, Talrabaa and Albu Muhammad, had been fully recaptured.

A statement issued by the US-led coalition forces said Thursday that 28 rounds of Arclight airstrikes had targeted ISIS positions in the past 24 hours, including in Kirkuk. It added that coalition air power targeted 18 sites in Khurmatu, Shingal, djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, Ramadi and other Iraqi areas, destroying "technical units and vehicles" belonging to ISIS.

Jailed terrorist trying to convert inmate to Islam gets beat down
[BizPacReview] Video (at Link) of a beating inside an Ottawa jail shows Carlos Larmond, who is facing terrorism-related charges along with his twin brother, being attacked after allegedly trying to convert another inmate to Islam.

The incident occurred March 3 at the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre. Video of the incident, played in an Ottawa courtroom Thursday, shows two men viciously attack Larmond with a flurry of punches and kicks while surrounded by other inmates. At one point in the video one of the men appears to drop an object on Larmond before he is able to get to his feet and is escorted out by correctional officers.

Terrence Wilson, 24, was sentenced on Thursday to 60 days in jail for assault causing bodily harm related in the attack.

Paolo Giancaterino, the lawyer representing Wilson, told Global News Larmond had tried to convert his client to Islam on several occasions and threatened to kill him when he resisted.

"It first started with some friendly requests for him to convert to Islam and be a soldier of Islam, and my client was having none of it," Giancaterino said. "It escalated to the point where threats were starting to be made that my client would be killed in his cell if he didn't convert. That was followed up by another threat that my client's family would be killed by someone on the outside if he didn't convert."

Giancaterino said the threats escalated over a period of several weeks.

Giancaterino said Larmond suffered a broken left hand and a black eye in the beating.

Carlos Larmond and his twin brother, Ashton, are facing terror-related charges after they were arrested by the RCMP in January after allegedly attempting to travel overseas for terrorist purposes.

Both have been charged with participation in the activity of a terrorist group and for attempting to leave Canada to participate in terrorist activity abroad. Ashton has also been charged instruction to carry out activity for a terrorist group.

Attempts to reach the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services for comment were not successful.
It would be impossible to run out of snark for this one, eh?
It's Canada. I'm sure they were polite about it. Eh.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Al Qaeda's French Bombmaker Drugeon Likely Killed in Syria, Says U.S. Official
[AnNahar] French jihadist David Drugeon was likely killed in a coalition strike in Syria in July, a U.S. official said Friday.

Drugeon, an alleged bombmaker, has been described as a key figure in the al-Qaeda offshoot Khorasan group, which American officials say is a dangerous hard boy outfit planning to attack the United States and other Western countries.

U.S. officials previously thought Drugeon was killed in a November 2014 drone strike, but the claim was later disproved.

"There are very good chances that we did get him in a strike in July in Syria," a U.S. official told AFP on Friday.

According to the official, Drugeon was a "very key technical member" of the Khorasan group and was an expert at making "non-metallic Improvised Explosive Devices" -- the military term for homemade bombs.

"Khorasan is a very dangerous organization which uses cutting-edge technology for (preparing) attacks in the West," the official said.

Drugeon's death was also announced on Twitter by a Saudi jihadist, who mentioned a strike near Aleppo.

A football fan in his early years, Drugeon later drew close to ultraconservative Salafist Moslems, converted to Islam, started learning Arabic and studying the Koran.

He eventually went to Egypt and studied in religious schools there. Drugeon, who was 24 or 25, returned to La Belle France and at the start of 2010 told his family he was going back to Egypt.

Like many other international volunteers, however, he went down the jihad route and traveled to tribal zones in Pakistain, never to be seen by his relatives again.

(ISIS) in the vicinity of Tel Abyad town in the northeastern Syrian province of Raqqa, military sources reported on Friday.

"Subsequent to an offensive by ISIS Lions of Islam on villages near Tel Abyad town, fierce festivities took place in the area between the radical group and YPG forces," a front man for the Kurdish YPG forces told ARA News.

Nuraddin Gaban reported that ISIS snuffies launched an attack on areas stretching from Ain Issa to Tel Abyad in northern Raqqa on Thursday, "which to led festivities that continued until Friday evening".

The source added that more than five ISIS snuffies were killed before the group's withdrawal towards its main headquarters in Raqqa city.

"We have lost two of our bravest fighters in the festivities. But we were finally able to repel the terrorists' attack," the YPG front man said.

Gaban added that the YPG has seized weapons and ammunition that was left behind by ISIS snuffies before retreating from the festivities' locations.

In the meantime, the YPG General Command issued a statement saying that ISIS group infiltrated into the village of Ser Giran near Tel Abyad on Thursday evening, adding that the group withdrew after being exposed to heavy artillery shelling by the Kurdish forces.

radical group (ISIS) launched an attack on the Kurdish village of Qolan in the southern countryside of Kobane, local sources reported on Thursday.

Amid constant attempts by the radical group to infiltrate into the southern countryside of Kobane, fierce festivities took place in the vicinity of Qolan between ISIS turbans and Kurdish forces of the People's Protection Units (YPG).

Speaking to ARA News, YPG member Habun Osman said: "Our forces repelled a new ISIS attack on the southern countryside of Kobane. After three hours of festivities, the ISIS Lions of Islam withdrew from the area on Thursday evening."

At least one ISIS myrmidon was killed and three injured during the festivities, while two Kurdish fighters were hardly maimed.

"We have taken strict security measures in order to prevent the terror group from returning to Kobane region," Osman said.

In August, turbans of the Islamic State infiltrated into Qolan village and kidnapped dozens of Kurdish civilians. Among the abductees were women and kiddies, who have recently returned to their hometown after the YPG forces regained the area and expelled turbans of the radical group.

Speaking to ARA News, YPG fighter Sarhad Abbas said: "We are concerned about the destiny of the abductees. We are aware that the barbarians of ISIS use civilians as human shields during battles, that's why we are deeply concerned."

Kurdish forces of the YPG and Peshmerga liberated the city of Kobane in January, after four months of fierce battles with the radical group of Islamic State.

In June, some ISIS turbans infiltrated into Kobane city and committed a massacre in which dozens of civilians were slaughtered.

"That division -- now formally declared by the highest ranking official of the group that apparently slaughtered almost 3,000 Americans 14 years ago -- could provide an opening that American counter-terrorism operatives could find a way to exploit," he added.

Former National Counterterrorism Center Director Matthew Olsen said that the US could use misinformation to further pit the two against each other and encourage the series of shootouts and liquidations each has waged against the other -- like when ISIL reportedly killed a top Zawahiri emissary trying to broker a ceasefire between the gunnies in Syria in February 2014.

The "franchise" in Afghanistan and Pakistain, known as Khorasan Province of ISIL, "has been fighting non-stop" with the Taliban and al Qaeda there, a counter-terrorism official told ABC News.

ISIL, formerly the al Qaeda branch in Iraq, split from the larger group two years ago, after it received finance from major countries in the region.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah said in one of his speech that ISIL has been formed by a joint work between the US, Saudi and Pak intelligence services.

#3  Not surprising. From its beginning AQ sought cooperation with Shiite forces. It did so at meetings held in the Sudan, at training camps in Lebanon and by setting up offices in Tehran. Bin Laden and Zawahiri saw the internecine struggle between Shia and Sunni as self-defeating. In all likelihood Zawahiri is presently located in Iran, likely at Mashad, west of Herat, Afghanistan.
