Afghan Blast Kills Five Policemen
[AnNahar] A roadside kaboom has killed five Afghan coppers on patrol in the eastern province of Paktia, officials said Sunday, the latest in a series of deadly Lion of Islam attacks.

The blast in Zurmat district in the troubled province bordering Pakistain hit a police vehicle Saturday evening and killed all five officers on board, provincial police chief Zulmai Oryakhail told AFP.

The incident and corpse count was confirmed by the provincial governor's front man Naqib Ahmad Attal.

No group or individual immediately grabbed credit but both officials blamed Talibs for the attack.

also on the border with Pakistain, provincial police chief Abdul Habib Sayedkhili told AFP.

Militants frequently target Afghan police and military, but the surge in attacks has also taken a heavy toll on civilians.

Nearly 1,600 non-combatants were killed and 3,329 injured in the first half of this year, according to U.N. figures.

A 13,000-strong residual foreign force remains for training and counter-terrorism operations.

Young Suicide Duo Kill Three in Northern Cameroon
[AnNahar] Two young jacket wallahs killed three people in far north Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
on Sunday, the latest attack to hit a region that has been rocked by strikes blamed on Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
Islamists from neighboring Nigeria.

The youth set off their suicide belts in the town of Mora as a police officer became suspicious of their appearance and approached to question them, a security source said on condition of anonymity.

The policeman, two civilians and the bombers were killed in the kaboom, the source said. Another source close to regional security forces confirmed the toll and said that the attackers, who aimed to target the town's market, were a "young girl and a young boy," without giving any more details.

It marked the third time since the start of September that the area had been hit by double suicide kabooms -- seven people were killed in a strike in Kolofata on September 13 and between 20 to 40 people are thought to have died in a bombing on September 3 in Kerawa.

Since July, some 100 people have died in suicide kabooms in the extreme north of Cameroon, which has joined the regional fight against Boko Haram.

The Nigerian-based Islamists have seized countless children and youths during their six-year insurgency that has killed at least 15,000 people and left more than two million homeless.

Yemen's Houthis release six foreign hostages
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Six foreign hostages have been released on Sunday after being held by Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
rebels in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa for more than five months, Al Arabiya News channel reported.

The hostages boarded a plane and will be flying to the Gulf nation of Oman, which negotiated their release, the channel reported, in accordance with measures taken by Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and the United States to facilitate their release.

The hostages are three Americans, two Saudis and a Brit. They were all civilians, the channel said. Two more Saudi teachers remain held by Houthis, it added.

"Upon a request from the U.S. government to help settle the issue of the American citizens held hostage in Yemen, the concerned authority coordinated with Yemeni authorities in Sanaa to release two U.S. citizens," a statement from Oman's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

All of those released were taken onboard a Omani air force carrier back to Muscat where they will travel from back to their home countries, the statement added.

Houthi officials refused to give the reasons for the detention of the hostages, the News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported.

But at least one of them is a journalist, who was described as having "entered the country illegally" and "worked without notifying the authorities."

Report: Germany Probes Syrian Asylum-Seeker for IS Links
[AnNahar] German police are investigating an asylum-seeker on suspicion that he fought for the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group in Syria, newspaper Welt am Sonntag reported Sunday.

The suspect is a Syrian national and lives in an asylum-seeker shelter in the northeast region of Brandenburg, the newspaper reported, quoting security sources. The man had allegedly told other migrants living in the centre that he had fought for the IS group and killed people. His claims were filmed secretly with a mobile telephone by other residents of the shelter, leading to the probe.

Investigators are now trying to determine if the Syrian was indeed a member of the IS, the newspaper reported.

A spokeswoman for federal police declined to confirm or deny the report.

Despite the case, federal police do not believe that Islamists are infiltrating Germany through the influx of refugees.
"Whatever you do, don't alarm the rubes! If they panic, who knows what might happen!" Sadly for that approach, Germans are passing around links like this on Facebook and elsewhere.

Activist of banned outfit on police watch list disappears
[DAWN] ISLAMABAD: An activist of a banned religious outfit put under the watch list of the police under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 has disappeared from his residence in the capital's rural area.

Qari Ansar Iqbal, a resident of Naiabadi in Bhara Kahu, was included in the Fourth Schedule of the ATA under which he had to inform the local police before leaving the city and upon his return, officials in the police on the condition of anonymity told Dawn on Saturday.

When the police came to know that Qari Ansar had disappeared from his house a couple of months ago, a manhunt was launched. Later, it emerged that he was doing a business in Rawalpindi along with his brothers, one of them an official of the Islamabad police.
When the police came to know that Qari Ansar had disappeared from his house a couple of months ago, a manhunt was launched. Later, it emerged that he was doing a business in Rawalpindi along with his brothers, one of them an official of the Islamabad police.

But another brother of the suspect, identified as Mohammad Asghar, told the police that Qari Ansar had left for central Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

a couple of months ago. It was also revealed that the suspect had been moving around different parts of Punjab, especially central Punjab. The police officials said his arrival in a city of Punjab 10 days ago had also been confirmed.

They said a police team had been sent to the city to bring him back to the capital. On the complaint of additional station house officer (SHO) Ghulam Mustafa, an FIR was registered with the Bhara Kahu police on September 18 against Qari Ansar for leaving the capital without informing the police and disappearing.

A senior police officer told Dawn on the condition of anonymity that it was yet to be ascertained why the suspect had been moving in different parts of Punjab.

The suspect was in the Fourth Schedule for the last one decade in connection with his affiliation with the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain
...a Sunni Deobandi organization, a formerly registered Pak political party, established in the early 1980s in Jhang by Maulana Haq Nawaz Jhangvi. Its stated goal is to oppose Shia influence in Pakistain. They're not too big on Brelvis, either. Or Christians. Or anybody else who's not them. The organization was banned in 2002 as a terrorist organization, but somehow it keeps ticking along, piling up the corpse counts...
. Though the suspect claimed that he had left the outfit, there were reports that he was still active and working for the banned outfit, the officer added.

He said Qari Ansar had to submit a surety bond to the police every year stating that he would avoid spreading sectarian hatred through his speeches or other acts. Besides, he cannot participate in the activities of the banned outfit, the officer said. Under the surety bond, he also agreed to visit the area cop shoppe on a regular basis to show his presence in his residence.

Appeals court judge and bodyguards gunned down in Kirkuk
[Rudaw] A Kirkuk city judge and three of his bodyguards were rubbed out by gunnies Sunday morning, Kirkuk police said.

"A number of unknown gunnies have shot Kirkuk's court judge Ibrahim Khamis and three of his guards on Quds Street in Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
" a Kurdish police official identified only as Razwan told Rudaw.
"Could be criminals, ISIS, Shia militia men, personal feud of some sort... could be we'll never know why they died," he added.
According to the source, the judge succumbed to his wounds 30 minutes after being rushed to the hospital.

The gunnies expeditiously departed at a goodly pace of the shooting, said the police.

Kirkuk governor Najmaldin Karim called the act an liquidation and described Khamis, "as a dear judge of our city who worked hard to enforce the law and justice and serve the people of Kirkuk,"

IDF soldier hurt in skirmish near Joseph’s Tomb
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinians throw rocks, Molotov cocktails at Israeli forces outside Nablus, causing light to moderate injuries to one

An IDF soldier was maimed early Monday morning after his unit was attacked by rock-throwing Paleostinian assailants near the Tomb of Joseph outside the West Bank city of Nablus. The Paleostinians threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the soldiers, inflicting light to moderate injuries upon the soldier, Walla news reported. The soldier was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

On Sunday, a spate of rock-throwing incidents targeting Israeli vehicles in the West Bank occurred, after a week of festivities between Paleostinian protesters and Israeli security forces in and around Jerusalem.

On Route 443 northwest of Jerusalem, Paleostinians threw stones at passing motorists, damaging three cars.

Stones were also thrown at Israeli drivers on Route 60 near the Beit Anun intersection near Hebron, in the southern West Bank.

Egged bus No. 149 was pelted with rocks and paint between Hizma and Anatot north of Jerusalem, but no injuries or physical damage to the bus were reported.

The incidents are part of a recent spike in attacks, some of them deadly, against Israelis in the West Bank and Jerusalem. The cabinet on Sunday debated increasing the severity of judicial and law-enforcement responses to such attacks.

On Sunday, the Israel Police said they had tossed in the clink
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
39 Paleostinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem for "disturbing the peace," "taking part in riots" and "throwing stones and Molotov cocktails.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised to seek harsher penalties and mandatory minimum sentences for those convicted of throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails, and fines for parents of minors found to have committed the acts.

Ceasefire begins in 3 Syria battlegrounds
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A new ceasefire went into effect on Sunday between Syrian pro-government forces and Salafist tough guys in three battleground districts, a local official and a monitoring group said.

The truce covers the two remaining villages in Idlib province in the northwest still in government hands and the rebels' last stronghold near the Lebanese border, the town of Zabadani.

"The truce in Zabadani, Fuaa and Kafraya which began at noon (0900 GMT) has held except for some sporadic fire on Fuaa in the afternoon," said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

He said sniper fire on Fuaa from the neighbouring village of Binesh killed one government fighter and maimed three, sparking a brief exchange of fire before calm returned.

Abdel Rahman said the agreement "did not specify an end for the ceasefire" and that the rival sides would continue negotiations for a broader truce.

A member of Zabadani town council, which has been involved in the talks, confirmed that negotiators had set no end date.

Pro-government forces launched an offensive to try to recapture Zabadani in July, prompting a rebel alliance, including Sunni Moslem gunnies of Al-Qaeda, to besiege the Idlib villages of Fuaa and Kafraya, whose residents are Shiites.

A resident of the town of Madaya, adjacent to Zabadani, told AFP the situation there was "completely calm".

The ceasefire comes after the rebels launched one of their fiercest attacks to date on Fuaa and Kafraya.

The assault began on Friday with at least nine boom-mobiles against the outskirts of the two villages -- seven of them detonated by jacket wallahs.

At least 66 rebels, 40 pro-government turbans and seven non-combatants were killed in the latest assault, according to the Observatory.

Sunday's ceasefire is the third attempt to agree a truce for the three areas. A ceasefire last month lasted only 48 hours.

Stumbling blocks have included the withdrawal of all rebels from Zabadani, safe passage for civilians seeking to leave Fuaa and Kafraya, and food and medical aid for those who stay on.

Elsewhere in Syria, at least five children were among 14 people killed by rebel fire on a government-held area of the northern city of Aleppo, the Observatory and state media reported.
