Police station in northern Kunduz recaptured
[Tolo News] The Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) successfully managed to retake the police headquarters in Dasht-e-Archi district of northern Kunduz province on Monday night after the facility fell to the Taliban two years ago.

According to deputy chief of army staff Gen. Murad Ali Murad, security force members were also able to retake control of the district's market.

Murad, who is leading the clearance operation in the area, told TOLOnews: "Fifteen Taliban insurgents including their deputy shadow governor, Mullah Rahim were killed in clashes with the security forces and three other insurgents were injured."

"The operation will continue to clear all insurgents as we promised the residents of Kunduz," he said.

Murad stated that the clashes between the ANSF and Taliban insurgents still continue and the forces are moving forward.

However, he did not provide details about ANSF or civilian casualties.

Local military officials said however that the ANSF has also had the support of the air force, which has carried out attacks on insurgents – especially their vehicles.

The military commanders said that they are sure they will retake control of the district governor's compound as well by Tuesday afternoon.

Dasht-e-Archi was a key base for the Taliban over the past few years and it was from there that they launched many attacks on Kunduz and other parts of north-eastern Afghanistan.

The Taliban has not yet commented on the operation.

15 militants killed as Govt troops attack Shaboobs near Diinsoor city
A senior official says at least 15 militants have been killed and their small weapons seized on Tuesday in an armed conflict in Al shabaab base near Diinsoor town of Baay region in southern Somalia.

Confirming the incident, Diinsoor district commissioner Ibrahim Mohamed Nur (Shig-shigow) has told Radio Shabelle that Govt troops attacked an Al shabaab stronghold located 45Kms away from the town and killed 15 fighters. He said that nearly 30 Al-shabaab militants collecting Zakah (an Islamic levy on wealth) from the local people came under heavy fire from Government forces, sparking a fierce gunfight that led to deaths of the combatants.

Local residents reported hearing sounds of heavy gun fire as the two sides battled it out for close to an hour. The Govt military said no casualties on their side.

Helo crashes, 23 die near Tripoli
[ArabNews] TRIPOLI: A helicopter with 23 people on board crashed Tuesday near the Libyan capital but the cause was unclear, a security official said.

There were unconfirmed reports that several senior members of the militia coalition that controls Tripoli could have been on board.

“We don’t know the number of victims or if there are survivors,” the Tripoli-based official told AFP.

The North African nation has seen widespread violence since the 2011 overthrow and killing of longtime leader Muammar Qaddafi.

The helicopter came down near the town of Zawiya, around 45 km west of the capital, according to the LANA news agency which is close to the internationally recognized government.

It said that several commanders of the Fajr Libya (Libya Dawn) militia coalition could have been traveling on the aircraft but there was no confirmation.

Libya has been rocked by deadly clashes between militiamen and forces loyal to the internationally recognized government, which has taken refuge in the country’s far east.
An Nahar adds:
A helicopter carrying 16 people was shot down and crashed into the sea near Libya's capital Tuesday with at least nine passengers, including a senior militiaman, confirmed dead, a military official said.

The aircraft was hit by gunfire shortly before noon and went down near the Al-Maya area just west of Tripoli, said Colonel Mustafa Sharkasi, a spokesman for the air force of Libya's Tripoli-based government.

A Tripoli-based official earlier said the helicopter had been carrying 23 people.

MSF claims Soddy warbirds attacked hospital
A Yemeni hospital run by medical aid group Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) was hit by Saudi-US warplanes, in a fresh bombing of a civilian target in the seven-month Saudi-led war on Yemen, the MSF group said on Tuesday.

"MSF facility in Saada Yemen was hit by several airstrikes last night with patients and staff inside the facility," the group said in a tweet.

Yemeni Army claims Soddy warship destroyed
The Yemeni army and the popular committees destroyed on Sunday a Saudi warship, the third vessel sinking in Yemen's offshore waters in one month.

The Saudi warship was targeted by a rocket as it was in the waters close to the southwestern province of Taiz, Yemeni media quoted field sources as saying.

The warship had regularly been shelling Yemeni coastal villages, with rockets.

The local media noted that the vessel sand after it was set ablaze due to the Yemeni rocket.

It is the third Saudi warship to be targeted by the army and the committees this month.

On October 10, a Saudi warship was targeted and destroyed in the southwestern coast of Yemen, in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, which connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden.

On October 7, the Yemeni forces managed to destroy another Saudi vessel in the area, with reports saying that the sunken ship had repeatedly fired rockets on residential areas in Taiz.

Darth Vader masks found in ISIL cells in southeast Turkey
[Hurriyet] Police have seized a number of plastic masks in the likeness of Darth Vader, the villain from the Star Wars film series, during searches conducted in houses rented by Islamic State

of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) forces of Evil in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir, daily Haberturk has reported.

The plastic Darth Vader masks were reportedly used by ISIL forces of Evil as a form of face protection from shrapnel in the event of an attack.
What a wonderfully clever idea someone had, to be sure.
On Oct. 26, police raided ISIL houses in Diyarbakir in a major operation in which two coppers and seven ISIL forces of Evil were killed.

According to the same report, the ISIL forces of Evil had rented the houses saying they would marry soon.

Meanwhile,
...back at the saloon, Butch got the bill for the damage caused by the fist fight, the mirror broken in the shootout, and drinks for everyone......
one of the neighbors living next to the houses said the ISIL forces of Evil moved two months ago, adding they were excavating in the garden at night and speaking both Arabic and Zaza.

Turkish forces detain dozens of ISIS suspects
[ARA News] Diyarbakir – The Turkish security forces arrested on Tuesday more than 30 people suspected of membership in the Islamic State (ISIS) radical group in the southeastern city of Diyarbakir, police officials said.

This comes only one day after clashes between Turkish security forces and ISIS gunmen near the Kurdish-majority city of Diyarbakir.

In the meantime, the police launched operations against ISIS cell houses in the conservative central Anatolian city of Konya, according to Dogan agency.

The Turkish authorities started hunting ISIS extremists after blaming the jihadist group for a massive twin bomb attack in the capital Ankara this month, where more than 100 people were killed.

On Monday, two Turkish policemen were killed and four others injured in a security operation against radicals of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Diyarbakir.

Turkish security sources confirmed Monday the death of two policemen and the injury of four more when an explosive device planted by ISIS militants was detonated in the vicinity of a police center.

This comes after Turkish forces raided a number of houses of ISIS suspects in Diyarbakir.

“Units of the security forces carried out an operation on houses for ISIS members in the Kayapinar district in Diyarbakir suburb, which led to the outbreak of clashes,” a security official said, pointing out that seven militants were killed in the operation.

Heavy Cross-Border Fire from Afghanistan Kills Seven Pakistan Soldiers
[AnNahar] Heavy cross-border fire from Afghanistan killed seven Pak soldiers Tuesday at a checkpoint in a troubled tribal area, the army said.

"Seven Frontier Corps
...a provincial paramilitary force. Total manpower is about 80,000. They are tasked to help local law enforcement in the maintenance of law and order, and to carry out border patrol and anti-smuggling operations....
soldiers embraced shahadat (martyrdom)," a military statement said. It was not immediately known whether the fire came from murderous Moslems or from Afghan cops.

It said the heavy fire from across the border targeted a checkpoint northeast of Angoor Adda in South Wazoo tribal region.

Pakistain's seven tribal districts near the Afghan border are rife with homegrown bandidos Lion of Islams and are strongholds of Taliban and Al-Qaeda operatives.

Local murderous Moslems have fled ongoing military offensives since 2008, taking refuge across the mostly non-existent border from where they have launched attacks on Pak military checkpoints and civilians.

The latest attack came two months after a cross-border rocket attack by murderous Moslems on a Pak checkpoint in Khyber tribal region killed at least four soldiers and maimed four others.

2 Pak coppers killed in Karachi

KARACHI: Two policemen were shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday when they were conducting snap checking in the North Nazimabad area of Karachi, a police spokesperson said.

The police officials were performing their duty near Hyderi market when they had signaled a motorcycle to stop for snap checking. On this, the riders opened fire at the policemen and fled the scene, killing them on the spot.

Inspector General Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali took serious notice of the incident and suspended the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and the North Nazimabad Station House Officer (SHO).

The attack comes after several recent incidents of firing on policemen in the city.

On October 8, two policemen were shot dead in Bahadurabad as they were patrolling the area on a motorcycle when armed bikers targeted them near Char Minar Chowrangi.

IDF soldier wounded in Gush Etzion terror attack, Hamas and IJ bigshots arrested
[Ynet] Two gunnies dead after stabbing Israeli at hitch-hiking stop on same day that police arrest senior members of Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, and Islamic Jihad

Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
, as well as Paleostinians found to be carrying hidden weapons.

An IDF soldier was stabbed by two assailants at a hitch-hiking stop in Gush Etzion on Tuesday, the same day that Israeli police incarcerated
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
multiple young Paleostinians who were found to be carrying weapons, as well as high-ranking members of major terrorist groups. The gunnies who stabbed the Israeli were killed.

Hours later ,n attempted stabbing attack at a junction at the entrance to Tel Rumeida in Hebron was thwarted. The attacker tried to stab a soldier on duty and was rubbed out.

Police arrested two young Paleostinian women in the morning after two large knives were found in their backpacks.

The women approached the security checkpoint ahead to the Tomb of the Patriarchs, and were asked to hand over their bags for inspection. They refused and began yelling, "We came to free Paleostine." Later, a Jerusalem policeman stopped two Paleostinians aged 16 and 17 who were later found to be carrying an axe and knife in their bags.

Earlier in the day Paleostinian sources had reported that the IDF had arrested Kais Sa'adi, a senior member of Hamas's military wing. Sa'adi was said to reside in Jenin's refugee camp, and had been the target of IDF raids on several occasions. Sa'adi was arrested in a village near Jenin, and was found to be in possession of several weapons.

A high-ranking member of Islamic Jihad, Tair Jaradat, 29, was also arrested Monday night. Sa'adi had previously opened fire on IDF forces, alongside his enterprising bomb making and gun trading business. Several weapons were found at the two's hideout, including: M-16 rifles, handguns, stun grenades, night vision goggles, handgun fittings, and copious amounts of ammunition and explosives.

IDF forces reportedly surrounded Sa'adi's home earlier this month, initiating a protocol that included firing a missile at the house and calling on him to surrender. Sa'adi managed to escape the arrest, and IDF troops arrested several of his cohorts, including Sa'adi's brother.

Later in the day about 200 Paleostinian youths threw stones at soldiers in the village of Beit Anun. IDF and border police forces pushed the rioters into the village using riot control measures.

Israeli security forces encountered an unusual scene, as a group of hundreds of Paleostinian youths stood five meters from the soldiers after respected village elders spoke to IDF officers with a request to receive the bodies of dead terrorists. The same youths who had been clashing with security forces mere minutes before the elders' arrival stood quietly.

Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
Tuesday in the southern coastal cities of Sidon and Tyre as security forces raided the house of a brother of singer turned runaway Islamist Fadel Shaker in a Sidon suburb.

"General Security intelligence agents raided a cafe in the Sidon area of al-Dalaa and arrested its owner R. S. on charges of having ties to terrorist groups," state-run National News Agency reported.

The General Security also raided a house in Tyre and arrested Paleostinian national A. A. "over his ties to a group working for the benefit of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group," NNA added.

Earlier in the day, an army intelligence force raided the house of Fadi Shmandar, a brother of Fadel Shaker, in the Sidon suburb of Abra.

Shmandar was not home at the time of the raid.

A pistol and ammunition were seized at the house, NNA said.

The agency noted that Nayef Q., a relative of runaway Islamist holy man Ahmed al-Asir
...Leb Salafist holy man with the usual grouch against Shiites. Currently on the run, he seems intent on reigniting the Leb civil war...
, lives in the same building.

In the evening, the army announced the arrest of Syrian national Mohammed Nassif in the Bekaa town of al-Labweh "on suspicion of belonging to a terrorist group operating in the outskirts of the town of Arsal."

ISIS captures 19 positions near Aleppo
[ARA News] ALEPPO – The radical group of Islamic State (ISIS) continued Tuesday its advancement against the pro-regime military forces and allied militias near Aleppo in northern Syria, local activists reported.

Subsequent to ISIS’s control of strategic locations on the Khanasser-Ithreya highway near Aleppo, fierce clashes erupted between the group’s militants and the pro-regime forces.

The pro-Assad army strives to regain the areas fell to ISIS militants in the countryside of Aleppo.

Speaking to ARA News, civil rights activist Wael Mohammed said that ISIS was able to control the water pump in the Ithreya area, taking over the Thirayan barrier on the Khanasser highway.

The Thirayan barrier, which was taken as a security base by the Palestinian Liwaa al-Quds group, has been attacked by an ISIS-led car bomb, during which more than 20 members of al-Quds group were killed.

By blocking the Aleppo-Khanasser road, ISIS has cut off the supply line between Hama and the regime-held neighborhoods in Aleppo city. The road is deemed as the only supply line for Assad’s army toward the city of Aleppo. Subsequently, prices of fuel and food have dramatically increased in the regime-held areas inside the city.

ISIS is now in control of 19 checkpoints belonging to the pro-regime forces and allied militias in Aleppo suburbs, as the entire district of Ithreya fell to the radical group.

A source close to ISIS told ARA News that the group is now preparing to storm the Khanasser district, which is regarded the most important bastion for pro-Assad forces between Aleppo and Hama.

In the meantime, ISIS stormed the town of As-Safira in the southern countryside of Aleppo after bombing headquarters of the pro-Assad forces there.

Speaking to ARA News in As-Safira, media activist Omar Jassam confirmed that ISIS launched “a surprise and fierce offensive” on the town on Tuesday evening.

“They (ISIS militants) targeted the city with dozens of rockets and heavy artillery shells, bombing army positions as well as residential buildings,” Jassam said, pointing out that the militants seized several neighborhoods south of As-Safira.

“The clashes continued between ISIS and pro-Assad forces until Tuesday midnight, where dozens were reportedly killed on both sides,” the source told ARA News.

The town of As-Safira holds a key position on the road between Aleppo and Damascus.

#1  Looks to me that pencilneck's best move is to strike due north of AlpoAleppo and trap the rebels in a pocket east and south of the city.

Video of some of what DoD's $500m purchased for "moderate" mooslim fighters
[PJmedia] A new video released by al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate Jabhat al-Nusra shows fighters from the terror group using the very weapons which were supplied by the U.S. to "vetted moderate" rebel groups as part of a disastrously failed plan to combat ISIS.

The video shows urban warfare training near Aleppo. Observers on Twitter have noted the weapons appear to be M240L machine guns. These weapons had been provided to the small group of fighters trained under the Department of Defense's $500 million "train and equip" program that was shut down earlier this month.

#9  WTF is going on with western foreign policy?

If you were

a) Disengaging from the Middle East and Europe, while

b) Pivoting your foreign policy focus to Asia and

c) Catering to your political base in order to establish a post-presidential political machine, yet

d) Placating a mixed bag of erstwhile supporters (the center-left media, traditional party members and donors, internationalists, etc.)

What would you do differently?
