Afghanistan
Taliban hang 8 in southern Zabul province
The Taliban militants have reportedly hanged eight of the group’s fighters for beheading seven hostages in southern Zabul province of Afghanistan.

According to the local government officials in Zabul province, the militants were hanged by fighters belonging to Mullah Mohammad Akhtar Mansoor.

The district administrative chief for Arghandab, Mohammad Hasratyar, said the militants originally belonged to the Islamic State terror group but had recently joined the Taliban ranks.

He said the group was led by the Taliban commander Akram and were instantly hanged after they were convicted of beheading the civilians.

The seven civilians were kidnapped from Gilan District of southeastern Ghazni province and their dead bodies were recovered from Khak-e-Afghan District of southern Zabul province on Sunday.

According to the officials, the victims belonged to the Hazara community which included four men, two women and a child.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani condemned the brutal act by the militants in strongest words. “Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, condemns in the strongest terms the beheading of civilians especially women and a child in Khak-e-Afghan district of Zabul province and considers that atrocious act a sign of desperation and defeat of the enemies of the people of Afghanistan,” a statement by Presidential Palace said.

The statement further added that an extraordinary security meeting was held today “to seek ways for tracking down and punishing the perpetrators of this atrocious crime and commiserate with the families of the victims.”
The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.

ISIS, Talibunnies do battle in eastern Nangarhar province
Clashes between two rival militant groups of Daesh and Taliban have restarted in Chaparhar District of eastern Nangarhar province, after a break of about one month.

Colonel Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, spokesman for Nangarhar police says two militants of Daesh (IS-Khorasan) group were killed in a clash with rival group in Sholani area of Chaparhar District on Sunday.

Previous clashes had left dozens of fighters from both sides killed and severely harmed civilians.

Both the Taliban and the newly emerged group of Daesh under the name of Khorasan have announced Jihad against each other.

Daesh was operating in Iraq and Syria from several years but it emerged in Afghanistan about a year ago.

Some local commanders of Taliban pledged allegiance to the Emir of Daesh or the Islamic State and opened a new chapter in Afghanistan war.

Daesh wants Taliban fighters to unite with them under its black flag but Taliban want Daesh to leave Afghanistan.

The disagreement is causing deadly clashes between them.

3 Talibunnies die in northern Baghlan province
At least three Taliban insurgents were killed in an ongoing operation of Afghan security force members in northern Baghlan province, local official said on Monday.

In addition, eight other insurgents were injured.

The operation was conducted in Pul-e-Khumri, the provincial capital, aimed at clearing insurgents from the northern city, said Abdul Rashid, the acting police chief of Baghlan.

"Three policemen were also injured during the operation," Rashid said.

Afghan National Army (ANA) members are backing the police forces in the operation, he continued.

French Anti-Jihadist Forces Seize Mali Arms Stashes
[AnNahar] The French army has seized "significant" caches of weapons during an operation in northern Mali, where it is helping local forces battle jihadists, Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said Monday.

Around 1,500 French troops are deployed in Mali as part of the fight against al-Qaeda-linked jihadist groups which took control of the country's north in 2012.

Le Drian, speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a security forum in Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
's capital Dakar, said the operation targeted "identified trafficking zones" as well as the sites of stashed weapons. He said the operation involved "fairly strong action" but no combat.

Large parts of Mali remain beyond the control of government and foreign forces, despite the French-led mission launched in 2013, and last month three French special forces soldiers were maimed in a landmine blast in the north.

The troops in Mali are part of a 3,000-strong French force fighting jihadists in west Africa under Operation Barkhane.

While jihadist attacks in Mali were previously concentrated in the north, they have spread to the center and south of the country this year.

Islamist militant killed in shootout with Egyptian police: Ministry
[AlAhram] Suspect was member of IS-affiliated Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis Lion of Islam group and was criminal mastermind and perpetrator of several high-profile terrorist attacks in Egypt, according to interior ministry

A senior operative in an Egyptian Lion of Islam group was killed in a shootout with coppers who were attempting to carry out an arrest warrant against him in El-Marg district in northeastern Cairo, the interior minister said in a statement on Monday.

The ministry said that the suspect, Ashraf Al-Gharabli, was a member of the Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis Lion of Islam group, who proclaimed allegience to Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. terrorist group late 2014, and was the criminal mastermind and perpetrator of several high-profile terrorist attacks in the country.

Al-Gharabli was implicated in a series attacks including a failed liquidation attempt on a former interior minister late in 2013, a July boom-mobileing at the Italian consulate in central Cairo, a suicide kaboom at a tourist site in Luxor as well as several Lion of Islam attacks on security checkpoints, the statement added.

He was also implicated in the murder of a Croatian and an American national in Egypt.

Al-Gharabli was convicted and sentenced to death in absentia in May over an attack on soldiers in the Arab Sharkas village, north of Cairo, in which two army officers were killed. Six members of Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis were executed in May over the same case.

Boko Haram 'Most Wanted' Poster Yields First Arrest
[AnNahar] Nigeria's military has said it has made its first arrest as a result of publishing a list of the 100 "most wanted" Boko Haram

suspects.

Army front man Colonel Sani Usman said in an emailed statement late on Sunday that one man whose photograph featured on the poster was spotted and held at Abuja airport.

"Chindo Bello was apprehended by aviation security as he was boarding (an) Aero Contractors' flight to Lagos," he said.

No further details were given about Bello or when he was held but Usman said security agents were tipped off and the arrest was made "as he attempted to flee".

He was handed over to military intelligence for questioning, he added.

The "most wanted" poster, published in English and the local, northeastern languages of Hausa and Kanuri late last month, appeals for public help in tracking down suspected Boko Haram members.

The group's leader Abubakar Shekau features twice in the rows of colour photographs, reflecting the military's belief he is in fact a composite character played by lookalikes.

President Muhammadu Buhari has called for the public's help in providing intelligence to the military, particularly with the Islamists having increased attacks on urban areas.

Islamists, residents and security sources said.

"A (woman) kamikaze blew herself up near a mosque in Fotokol. A second one was neutralised and killed. It was obvious the two suicide bombers were targeting the mosque," a local source told AFP.

"Three civilians also died," added a security source who asked not to be named.

The attack was similar to others in the remote region bordering Lake Chad claimed by Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram, and occurred 24 hours after two suicide bombers left two dead and 14 injured across the border in Chadian town Ngouboua on Sunday.

Both Ngouboua and Fotokol have come under attack several times from Boko Haram fighters in the past.

Monday's suicide kaboom, the 16th in Cameroon's far north since July, highlights the persisting threat of Boko Haram attacks in the Lake Chad area straddling the borders of Cameroon, Chad, Niger, Nigeria.

The group, believed to be hiding out in Nigeria's nearby Sambisa forest and the lake's many islands, is held responsible for 17,000 deaths and for making 2.5 million people homeless in its six-year campaign of violence.

them for 10 years each for training in Iraq to carry out bombings in the Sunni-ruled kingdom, a judicial source said.

The court convicted the pair, one in absentia, of receiving training at a camp belonging to the Iraqi Popular Mobilization (Hashed al-Shaabi) force, an umbrella group dominated by Iran-backed Shiite organizations, the source said.

They were trained in "making and using explosives and firearms to carry out terrorist attacks such as bombings in Bahrain," the source told AFP.

Bahrain on Thursday revoked the citizenship of five Shiites after convicting them of spying for Iran and sentenced them to life imprisonment.

The latest verdicts come amid heightened tensions between Bahrain and Iran, as Manama recalled its ambassador and asked Tehran's envoy to leave last month, claiming interference in its internal affairs.

Bahrain last week said it has uncovered a "terrorist organization" linked to Iran and placed in durance vile
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
47 of its members, foiling imminent attacks in the country.

A foreign ministry official in Iran rejected the accusations as "baseless".

Shiite-majority Bahrain has been hit by unrest since a pro-democracy uprising in 2011, and it frequently accuses predominantly Shiite Iran of meddling.

In August, five people suspected of links with Iran were arrested in connection with a bombing in Bahrain that killed two coppers.

Yemen Army, Committees Advance towards Aden, Strike Saudi Border Sites
The Yemeni army and popular committees loyal to Ansarullah revolutionary movement launched a major rocketry attack against the Saudi border sites, inflicting heavy losses upon them.

Media reports mentioned that a large number of Saudi soldiers were killed and that their vehicles were destroyed.

The Yemeni forces are advancing toward the southern city of Aden, as they secured considerable gains in the region.

Field sources in Yemen reported that the allied forces captured Damat district in Dale’a province, after they forced the Saudi-led forces out of it.

The AFP news agency also reported that Damat was in the hands of the army and the committees.Popular committees in Yemen

Meanwhile, the allied forces also took control of a strategic hilltop of al-Yaes which overlook al-Anad airbase in the country’s southwestern Lahij province.

The airbase, located some 60 kilometers from Aden, fell to fugitive president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi loyalists in July following a lengthy offensive.

Yemen has been since March 26 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition. Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.

Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to fugitive president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.

However, Yemeni army, backed by the committees has been responding to the aggression by targeting several Saudi border military posts and cleansing several areas across the country, especially the country’s south, from Hadi and al-Qaeda-linked militias.

16 die in IED attack in Yemen
CAIRO: At least 16 Yemeni government soldiers have been killed by a roadside bomb in the province of Marib east of the capital Sanaa, military sources told Reuters late on Sunday.

The sources said the bomb, which also wounded six soldiers, appeared aimed at a patrol near an army camp in Marib. They said it was not clear who was behind the attack.

At least 5,600 people have been killed in seven months of war in Yemen, the poorest country on the Arabian Peninsula.

Meanwhile, a 400-strong Sudanese force arrived in Aden Monday in support of pro-government forces preparing to confront a possible new offensive by rebels on the country’s south.

Yemen’s loyalist forces, backed by Saudi-led coalition strikes, supplies and troops, pushed the rebels out of Aden as part of an operation launched in July to take back southern territories lost to renegade forces.

Four other southern provinces — Lahj, Daleh, Abyan and Shabwa — were also retaken by the forces loyal to President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.

But the Iran-backed rebels this weekend retook several positions in the south.

3 detained in Kuwait for trafficking in firearms
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 8: Director-General of the Department of Weapons Security M a j o r- G e n e r a l Faraj Al-Zuabi was recently quoted as saying the security authorities were able to dismantle an international network which specialized in smuggling arms and ammunition from Turkey to Iraq, storing in Kuwait and then moving the ordnance to a neighboring country, reports Al- Qabas daily.

He added, the plainclothes police have taken into custody two Kuwaitis and a bedoun but the main suspect is said to have escaped from the country within two hours after he came to know that the network had been busted by the Kuwaiti security authorities. Al-Zuabi added the arrest came following cooperation and coordination between his department and the border security forces. It has been reported the gang had successfully smuggled into the country via Iraq a large cache of arms on two occasions last October. Al-Zuabi was also quoted as saying shops in the country which are licensed to sell weapons had sold to the network large quantities of ammunition in violation of the law in return for a lot of money more than the real value.

According to legal sources, after obtaining permission from the authorities to make inventory of the shop the authorities found a significant number of discrepancies. He continued saying the shop owner has been referred to the Public Prosecution. He stressed any shop which violates the law and sells ammunition to people who do not hold the licence will be referred to the Public Prosecution, the shop shall be closed and the license shall be withdrawn. Al-Zuabi said it all happened with the border securitymen arrested two Iraqis inside the Kuwaiti border in possession of 60 weapons and during interrogation they confessed to smuggling weapons on earlier occasions.

They also said these weapons were received by people inside Kuwait and guided police to four Iraqis who helped them in smuggling operations following which the Kuwaiti authorities informed their Iraqi counterparts. He pointed out the investigations led to arrest of a citizen identified only as A. It is he who allegedly received the weapons and ammunition and left the country two hours after his accomplices were arrested by the police.

He said investigation revealed the bedoun, identified only as N. is the one who guided police to Kuwaitis who stored the weapons in a livestock pen. One of them is the owner of the pen. The two Kuwaitis were seized in possession of 325,000 rounds of ammunition hidden inside a truck owned by one of them. This is in addition to a quantity of other weapons. All those arrested have been referred to the Public Prosecution.

Damt falls to Soddy backed Yemeni resistance
Yemeni national resistance fighters seized all positions they had tactically quit in the Southwestern town of Damt after launching an offensive against the Houthis and their allies on Sunday, a Yemeni news network reported on Monday.

Fierce fighting erupted in that area, forcing the Iranian-backed coup insurgents to flee their positions and retreat to areas outside the town, Mabrib Press said.

It quoted resistance sources as saying all Houthi positions around the town had been occupied and that many bodies of the insurgents were seen on the roads.

“Our fighters retook all the positions from which they had tactically withdrawn because of ammunition shortage,” a resistance source said.

According to the Qatari satellite TV news channel ‘Al Jazeera’, nine coup rebels were killed in pitched battles with the national resistance in Damt on Sunday. Five resistance fighters were also killed during the clashes, it added.

In central Yemen, the resistance said it killed 13 Houthis in attacks on their position in Al Bayda on Sunday. It said eight were killed in Mashbah area and five others in Sabah region, adding that one resistance fighter was “martyred.”

400 more Sudanese soldiers arrive in Yemen's Aden
[AlAhram] A 400-strong Sudanese force arrived in Yemen's port city Aden Monday in support of pro-government forces preparing to confront a possible new offensive by rebels on the country's south.

Yemen's loyalist forces, backed by Saudi-led coalition strikes, supplies and troops, pushed the rebels out of Aden as part of an operation launched in July to take back territory they had lost.

Four other southern provinces -- restive Lahj

, Daleh, Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
and Shabwa -- were also retaken by the forces loyal to President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi.

But the Iran-backed rebels this weekend recaptured several positions in the south.

"More than 400 Sudanese soldiers landed in Aden" as part of the coalition battling the rebels since March, said a commander of pro-Hadi forces.

They will join 500 Sudanese soldiers who arrived in Aden on October 19. Some of them were deployed in the southern port and the strategic Al-Anad airbase in adjacent Lahj province, the source said.

Their arrival comes as loyalist forces are mobilising to block a possible attempt by the rebels to re-enter Aden.

"General mobilisation was been declared in Daleh" province where rebels recaptured second city Damt on Saturday, a local official said.

A similar call was made in the coastal city of Dhubab, where the rebels achieved a "limited advance" during the weekend, a military source said.

The rebels seized a military base in Dhubab on Saturday following deadly festivities with pro-government troops, according to military sources.

Pro-government troops seized Dhubab early last month, giving them effective control of Bab al-Mandab, through which much of the world's maritime traffic passes.

radical Islamist gunnies entered the faculty of administrative science at Aden university, forcing students to leave the campus and locked down the faculty's main gate, witnesses said.

They said the gunnies closed the faculty weeks after they threatened to use force against students if they do not observe segregation of the sexes on campus. Gunmen last month distributed leaflets also banning music and signed by the Aden and Abyan branch of the Islamic State

Islamist holy warriors, including Al-Qaeda and IS, appear to have gained ground in Aden where jihadists are now visibly present.

16 French Police Hurt in Clash with Calais Migrants
What's wrong with a whiff of grapeshot?
[AnNahar] Sixteen coppers were lightly injured during two hours of festivities with migrants in the northern French city of Calais, a local government front man said Monday.

He said the violence erupted late Sunday when some 200 migrants tried to block traffic on the ring road around the port city where thousands live in a sprawling camp hoping to find a way across the Channel to Britannia.

They hurled rocks and other objects at police, who fired over 300 teargas grenades to disperse them, a police source said.

"It is the first time it has been so violent and we unfortunately have many colleagues injured," said Gilles Debove of the SGP police union.

"If one day there is a revolt in the camp, it will be madness," he said, describing the situation as worrying.

The interior ministry says the number of migrants at the slum-like "New Jungle" camp had fallen from 6,000 to 4,500 in recent weeks.

A source at the ministry said scores of people had agreed to give up their plans to reach Britannia -- seen as a dream destination by many -- and had been bussed to other parts of La Belle France to be registered as asylum seekers.

Last week, a French court ordered the state to improve conditions in the camp, whose population went kaboom! over the summer as Europe struggles with its worst migrant crisis since World War II.

The Calais migrant situation has strained tensions between Britannia and La Belle France, but remains tiny compared to the numbers in other countries such as Germany which is expected to receive up to a million asylum requests this year.

Although the interior ministry says there have been no successful attempts to cross the Channel since October 25, there are still dozens of attempts daily, down from a peak in August when there were over 1,000 attempts a night.

At least 15 migrants have been killed this year in their bid to reach Britannia.

The Grand Turk
One killed, nine injured in PKK attacks in Turkey’s southeast
[Hurriyet] One person has been killed and nine others, including four coppers and a child, have been injured in festivities with outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) Death Eaters in multiple provinces in southeastern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
A taxi driver identified as Mehmet Gunduz, 45, was killed, and five other people, including a police officer, were maimed on Nov. 9 in festivities with PKK Death Eaters in Silvan, a district in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir.

A police officer was injured after PKK Death Eaters shot up security forces escorting a caterpillar filling trenches dug by krazed killers. Three other people identified as Abdulsemet Kesici, 50, Seyfettin Kurt, 44, and Kudbettin Cicek, 44, were also injured in the festivities, while another person, identified as Mehmet Emin Cicek, 70, was injured in rocket fire targeted at his home.

A committee formed of members from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and the Democratic Union Party (DBP) conducted an inspection at the site where Gunduz was killed.

The festivities came on the seventh day of a curfew in the southeastern town, which has been in effect since 5:00 a.m. on Nov. 3 as a pre-emptive measure to protect civilian deaths during anti-terror operations.

In the southeastern province of Mardin, meanwhile, three coppers and a child were maimed in festivities between the PKK's youth wing and security forces working to open roads closed by the krazed killer group.

Security forces dispatched armored vehicles to Mardin's Nusaybin district after the outlawed Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement (YDG-H) seized citizens' cars and lined them up in order to close roads to traffic at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 8.

A group of masked YDG-H Death Eaters arrived at Lozan Street in the Yesilkent neighborhood and appropriated car keys from drivers. The group also fired at surveillance cameras to avoid being caught by the police.

While using the cars to close down Lozan Street, the group also built barricades on the side streets of the Yenituran neighborhood.

Police used armored vehicles to enter the streets and open the roads to traffic. However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
festivities erupted when the Death Eaters attacked an armored vehicle with an improvised bomb.

Three maimed coppers were transferred to the Nusaybin State Hospital for treatment, while 14-year-old Abdulselam Deniz was also injured in the kaboom and brought to the same hospital.

In the southeastern province of Hakkari, two children were maimed on Nov. 8 after stepping on a landmine planted by PKK Death Eaters on the road connecting Hakkari's Yuksekova and Semdinli districts.

In a written statement, the Hakkari Governor's Office said the children were collecting firewood at Semdinli's Korgan village before the kaboom.

"Both children were initially brought to Yuksekova State Hospital and then transferred to Van's Yuzuncu Yil University Research Hospital via a military helicopter," it said.

India-Pakistan
ISIS recruiter detained in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: The provincial police claimed on Monday to have arrested a recruiter for the self-styled Islamic State (IS) from the Badaber area of Peshawar.

The suspect was allegedly involved in recruiting for IS, said a police official.

“The suspect arrested, Dadullah, belongs to Afghanistan, and was recruiting for an international militant organisation,” said SSP Operation Mian Saeed.

The police official added that a First Information Report has been registered against the suspect. Weapons and hand grenades were also recovered from the arrested individual, according to the police official.

In January this year, security forces had arrested a man they believed was the commander of IS in the country as well as two accomplices involved in recruiting and sending fighters to Syria.

Rifts among the Taliban and disputes about the future of the insurgency have contributed to the rise of Islamic State's popularity but security sources believe there are no operational links yet between IS and South Asia.

Disgruntled former Taliban commanders have formed the so-called Khorasan chapter — an umbrella IS group covering Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and other South Asian countries — in recent months but have not been involved in any fighting.

Their leader, Hafiz Saeed Khan Orakzai, a former Pakistani Taliban commander, appeared in a video address urging people in the region to join the group.

Source: Iraqi security forces surround ISIS-held Ramadi
[Rudaw] Iraqi security forces have surrounded the occupied city of Ramadi, military sources said Monday

The source said the advance into the city had been slowed by landmines and explosive-rigged homes and vehicles, notably in eastern Ramadi.

"After the security forces managed to control Warayan military base, they advanced in eastern Ramadi. It is also reported that Ramadi glass factory was controlled by the security forces," the military source told Rudaw.

"After controlling Falastine dam and Jarayish roundabout the security forces manged to surround Ramadi, " the military source added.

The military source said security forces had bombarded the ISIS police office in Komari district, which led into the death of three members of the terrorist organization.

The military campaign to push ISIS out of Sunni-majority Anbar province was launched in early June.

In mid-July, the Iraqi defense ministry announced the resumption of an offensive against ISIS in Anbar province with a joint army, police and Shiite force of 10,000 fighters.

ISIS seized Ramadi on May 17, in what is considered one of the jihadists' most important victories, and has held most of Anbar, the largest province in Iraq, since last year.

#1  Starve them out.

Don't go in and die in a kill zone of their choosing. Bide your time and let them come to you, a few days without food and water and you can control the situation on your terms.

I wouldn't go into Ramadi on a bet. They've been preparing that hell hole as a vast kill zone for a year and it is a death trap. Better to do the old siege thing...maybe even use a trebucet to throw a dead cow or two or a couple of hundred pounds of manure into the place to give it seasoning. Maybe even take a few dead ISIS wienies and chuck them back at their buddies.

Scenes of division in disputed Shingal
[Rudaw] As Kurdish forces gear up for a final offensive to drive turbans of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) from the predominantly Kurdish Yezidi town of Shingal, the frontlines move closer to the enemy with each passing day.

The ISIS positions are easily seen from the Peshmerga posts just outside the main gate of Shingal. The Kurdish forces captured this strategic entrance to the town in the December offensive last year that pushed the turbans deeper into the city.

The Peshmerga advance was halted at that time because of the many landmines planted in the roads and alleys of the city which the Kurdish authorities say could take months to clear.

In some neighborhoods, such as the Nasre district, the distance between Peshmerga and ISIS positions is less than 50 meters. Peshmerga fighters say sometimes they can hear conversations among turbans when there is a lull in the shooting.

"Sometimes we curse at them in both Arabic and Kurdish and they curse back at us," said a Peshmarga who requesteded anonymity. "They often make dirty jokes about the Kurdish state, asking 'Where is Kurdistan located on the map anyway?'" the officer said.

It is not just the Peshmerga forces that are here surrounding much of the city. Judging by the color of the banners flying on top of the positions and the enormous pictures of various Kurdish leaders, it is clear that the forces of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and its local affiliates are present.

So, too, are the forces of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) along with the troops of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), which is by far the largest military group in the area.

Shingal is located inside Kurdish-controlled territories but beyond the official borders of the Kurdistan Regional Government's administration.

In the township of Snoone, located just half an hour from Shingal, one can see Peshmerga patrolling the deserted town along with guerrilla fighters of the PKK and YPG, or People's Protection Units from the Kurdish area of Syria.

Snoone had some 140,000 inhabitants before the ISIS war, but now it is a ghost town with only armed Kurdish men walking in the war-torn streets.

PKK says it will leave Shingal after ISIS defeat
[Rudaw] The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) says it is willing to withdraw its forces from Shingal area after recapturing the town from Death Eaters of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) who overran much of the area in August 2014 and triggered a dire humanitarian crisis.

Haval Agid, PKK commander in the region, told Rudaw his 500-strong force will leave the area after driving out the bully boys. He said the Peshmerga ministry within the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) had been notified of the decision.

The KRG said last week it deployed over 20,000 Peshmerga to Shingal for the final push to fully recapture the town.

PKK has said it also wants to take part in the offensive.

"We want to participate in the fight for Shingal. We are not a foreign force," Agid told Rudaw, adding that the PKK presence in the area had strengthened the Kurdistan region.

He said the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) had been informed that PKK forces are willing to leave the area if the KDP recognized the PKK-affiliated military group called the Shingal Protection Unit (YPS).

With over 5,000 guerrillas based mostly in remote border areas in the Kurdistan region since the early 1990s, the PKK has been conducting military operations often without the explicit approval of central authorities in Iraq or the KRG.

The KRG has asked the PKK to leave Shingal area and allow Peshmerga forces to free the predominantly Kurdish Yezidi town.

The Peshmerga ministry has rejected PKK's precondition and calls the YPS unlawful military group.

"The Peshmerga force is large enough to defeat ISIS in the area, we have no use for PKK help," Sarbast Lazgin, a Peshmerga commander told Rudaw.

In an offensive last December, the Peshmerga were able to retake much of the area lost to the ISIS bully boys, including parts of the Shingal town. The operation was not concluded, however, because Kurdish troops were unable to move into Shingal due to the landmines and explosives planted by the bully boys, the ministry said.

Shingal is located inside Kurdish-controlled territories but beyond the official borders of the KRG's administration.

The area has historically been under the political and military influence of the KDP, which is one of the two main Kurdish parties in Iraq with some 60,000 Peshmerga soldiers.

Palestinian woman attempts to stab guard, is shot dead
[Jpost] Security at the West Bank crossing told the woman who was holding a knife to halt a number of times before opening fire and killing her.

A Paleostinian woman attempted to carry out a knife attack at the Eliyahu Crossing in the West Bank on Monday, but was rubbed out by security personnel.

The Defense Ministry, which operates the Crossings Authority, said the female terrorist arrived on foot at the car crossing on Route 55 in Samaria, drawing the suspicion of guards, who ordered her to halt. She ignored the warning and continued approaching the guards.

A guard fired a warning shot in the air, but when the woman pulled a large knife from her bag, guards fired on and killed the woman.

Security personnel then found a suicide note in the woman's bag, which she had written to her family and fiance.

"I don't know what will happen to me in the end. I am doing this with a clear head. To defend the homeland and the youth," the note said. "I cannot stand what I am seeing and I cannot suffer anymore. To my parents and siblings, forgive me for what I am going to do. I love you. Especially my fiance. I am sorry for whatever will happen to me and that this is the way that I am ending," the note read.

Route 55, between Jaljulya and the Alfei Menashe settlement, was briefly closed to traffic following the incident.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, a little lightbulb figuratively appeared over Bossy's head...
security forces tossed in the slammer
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
two unorganized terrorist cells in the West Bank, the Shin Bet said on Monday.

In a joint Shin Bet, IDF, and Israel Police operation, Paleostinians were arrested for attacking Israelis on Route 45, in Nebi Saleh and Halamish.

The first group threw Molotov cocktails at Israeli cars near Atarot Junction on Route 45, which is the continuation of key traffic artery Route 443, the Shin Bet said. The second carried out Molotov cocktailing attacks on the settlement of Halamish, hurled pipe bombs at a nearby army checkpoint, near Nebi Salah, and tried to attack the position in recent weeks, the Shin Bet said.

Three Abu Sayyaf militants killed in Basilan encounter
[Gulf Today] An Abu Sayyaf leader and two of his comrades were killed in a clash with Philippine security forces on the island province of Basilan.

Military spokesman Maria Rowena Muyuela identified the slain leader as Abdul Hassan Tanadjalun, a.k.a. "Bullet", who was wanted for kidnapping and extortion. Muyuela said Tanajalun was the leader of an Abu Sayyaf "urban terror group" operating in Lamitan City and Tuburan.

He said three soldiers were also injured in the pursuit that resulted in the encounter that killed the three militants in a remote village in the town of Tuburan, Basilan, at dawn on Sunday.

Muyuela said a team of soldiers was earlier assigned to arrest Tanadjalun and 15 others in a village in Lamitan City following reports of his presence there. He said, "As the troops were approaching the area, they were fired upon by the group and then fled," and added this did not stop the soldiers from pursuing them until they caught up with the suspects in the village.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Russia Says Pounded Hundreds More 'Terrorist Targets' in Syria
[AnNahar] Russia's air force struck 448 targets throughout Syria over the last three days, the defense ministry said Monday, as Moscow pushed on with its bombing campaign in the war-torn country.
We'll see how long they can continue that operations tempo...
The ministry said in a statement that Russian planes hit a repair workshop for armored vehicles near Kfar Nabuda in Hama province, which belonged to al-Qaeda affiliate al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli sh-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front.

Other targets said to belong to Nusra Front were a command center in Zarbe, a training camp near Kweyris east of Aleppo and a "large munitions stockpile" near Maheen in Homs province.

The air force also said it bombed the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group's stronghold Raqa, where two more munition stockpiles were "completely destroyed."

Among other targets was a position used by Nusra Front for launching mortar attacks in Latakia and a stockpile of rockets in the mountains near Damascus kept by the Islamic State group, it said.

It added that jihadist groups have "changed their tactics" by constantly "changing the arms and munitions delivery routes" and moving at night.

The ministry claimed that some of the information on the targets had come from the "Syrian opposition" but did not specify which groups it had worked with.

448 targets in three days???

I'd say someone has pissed off Vlad big time.

Any news on how many special purpose troops he has in Egypt with or without Sisi's approval???

That 448 is what I would have expected from our Air crappers but our level of commitment to fighting ISIS any where seems to fall somewhere between indifference and a loud yawn.

La Belle France airstrike hit ISIS oil centers in Deir ez-Zor province
[ARA News] DAMASCUS – French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said Monday that the French army has bombed an oil supply center held by militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) in eastern Syria.

French warplanes hit Sunday an oil supply center in the ISIS-held Deir ez-Zor province.

“We intervened in Syria… yesterday evening with a strike on an oil supply center near Deir Ezzor on the border between Iraq and Syria,” Le Drian told reporters during a visit to Dakar, Senegal.

France has recently joined anti-ISIS airstrikes in Syria after President Francois Hollande decided to take part in the campaign.

Bombing the ISIS-held oil supply center came during a third wave of French airstrikes in Syria.

The earlier raids targeted ISIS-led training camps for foreign jihadists suspected of preparing to conduct attacks in France.

When ISIS stops being a strong horse, the jihad tourists will flow to the next cool battleground or go home, their sworn alliegance to the glorious commander conveniently forgotten. Given the steady trickle of surrenders to the Peshmerga, more would be heading for the exits now, if only the ISIS guards would allow it.

US airstrikes hammer ISIS troops in Hasakah, 20 die
[ARA News] QAMISHLI – Two commanders of the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS) were killed in an airstrike by the U.S.-led coalition on the ISIS-held town of al-Hawl in the northeastern Syrian province of Hasakah, military sources reported on Monday.

The same strike has also killed at least 20 militant fighters of ISIS.

Speaking to ARA News in Hasakah, member of the Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) Serdar Khalil said that Abu Khaled at-Tunisi, the ISIS military commander in the village of al-Buhaira, and Abu Khattab al-Iraqi, an ISIS commander in the group’s key stronghold of al-Hawl, were killed in an airstrike by the U.S.-led coalition on Sunday.

“The airstrike, which targeted the junction of Bahrat al-Khatooniya, caused the death of more than 20 ISIS militants, beside the two commanders,” Khalil added.

The source pointed out that fighters of the Kurdish-Arab alliance of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were able to repel a car bomb attack in the village of al-Buhaira before reaching its target in the eastern countryside of Hasakah.

“The ISIS-led car bomb was heading towards a military base for the SDF, but our fighters were able to destroy it before reaching its target,” Khalil said.

ISIS forces driven from positions near Hasakah
[ARA News] QAMISHLI – Supported by the U.S.-led coalition, the Kurdish-Arab alliance of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) recaptured several villages in the northeastern Syrian province of Hasakah subsequent to clashes with militant fighters of the Islamic State (ISIS), military sources reported on Monday.

The SDF troops regained control of the villages of Zaniya, Yezidiya, Suwefat in the eastern countryside of Hasakah.

The Kurdish-Arab joint forces have also recaptured the villages of Salaliya and Rajm Sharqi south of Hasakah, after forcing ISIS militants to withdraw under heavy shelling.

Speaking to ARA News in Hasakah, a spokesman for the SDF said that at least 23 ISIS extremists were killed in Monday’s clashes.

In the meantime, the U.S.-led coalition bombed ISIS positions in the vicinity of the clashes area, destroying three ISIS armored vehicles.

“The coalition’s strikes have facilitated our advance against the terror group in Hasakah province,” the source added.

The SDF has earlier recaptured 36 villages and several gas stations in Hasakah, after killing 178 militants of the extremist group of Islamic State (ISIS).

Noteworthy, the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces announced last week the start of a military campaign aimed at expelling ISIS from the province of Hasakah in northeastern Syria. The SDF includes Kurdish forces of the YPG and YPJ, the Syriac Military Council, the Arab tribal group of al-Sanadeed, al-Jazeera brigades, Jaish al-Thuwar group and Burkan al-Furat battalion.

in Iraq and Syria on Sunday, the coalition leading the operations said in a statement on Monday.

In Syria, 13 strikes near four cities hit a petroleum junction point as well as two gas and oil separation plants controlled by the holy warrior group, the statement from the Combined Joint Task Force leading the operations said.

#1  Maybe the US an allies should just get out of the way and let the Russians take care of buisness.
