15 ISIS Bad Guys die in eastern Nangarha
15 militants belonging to the militant group of Islamic State (IS) which also goes by its Arabic name Daesh have been killed in newest military operation in eastern Nangarhar’s Achin District, a stronghold of the group in the country’s east.

Colonel Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, spokesperson for the police HQ of Nangarhar says that eight more militants were wounded in the operation yesterday.

The counter-terrorism operation in Achin District jointly launched by Afghan National Police and Army about six weeks before and according to col. Mashriqiwal it has been going on successfully.

Achin which shares border with Pakistan is one of the restive districts of Nangarhar province.

The district recently witnessed large-scale Daesh attacks on a number of its security posts.

In the retaliatory action of the security forces, according to officials, at least two hundred militants were killed and a number of others wounded.

Somalia: Massive cleanup after botched attack on SW state leader
AFGOOYE, Somalia -- Somali intelligence service and heavily armed security forces have conducted massive clean-up operation on Mogadishu-Afgooye road after botched attempt on the life of Southwest State President, Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adan, witnesses confirmed. The soldiers in armored personnel carriers made searches and arrested many suspects in the operation.

Intelligence reports show that explosives were tracked in advance and might possibly have been prepared in the area.

At least two cars packed full of explosives tried to ram into a convoy carrying Adan on Wednesday. Southwest state leader escaped unharmed from the pre-planned suicide attack according to aides. As has been the case, Somali terrorists militant group was quick to claim credit for the suicide attack.

Adan replaced heroic Lower Shabelle Governor Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur (Siidi) with Ibrahim Adan Ali on the same day. Siidi has been known for uttering harsh words; more often against Al Qaeda inspired militants.

Shaboobs attack AMISOM patrol in Lower Shabelle
Heavily armed terrorists militants belonging to Al shabaab have launched an ambush attack on African Union troops in Lower Shabelle region of southern Somalia, an official said Thursday.

Confirming the attack to Radio Shabelle, the deputy commissioner of Kurtunwarey district Muhaydin Khalif Ali confirmed that Al shabaab terrorists waylaid AMISOM soldiers on patrol between Bulo-Mareer and Golwayn villages. It was immediately impossible to determine the casualties of the attack as the official did not elaborate.

Al shabaab terrorists has stepped up its hit and run attack against SNA and AMISOM troops in Lower Shabelle, a region that witnessed several deadly raids claimed lives of scores of AU peacekeepers in the past few months.

Intel on 'two-hour timer' uncovered in Russian jet crash
Investigators analyzing the deadly crash of a Russian jet in Egypt uncovered intelligence about a “a two-hour timer,” though it is not clear whether the reference came from intercepted communications between known terrorist operatives, or physical evidence, a source familiar with the investigation told Fox News.
I suggest that we not release the particulars of "how we know" right now, until we've either rolled up the network that did this, or killed them all.
A separate source said that based on the facts so far, one of the working theories is that a bomb was planted at or near the fuel line or where it attaches to the engine, with the fuel burning off the explosive. This theory would explain the apparent lack of residue immediately found, the source says.

Fox News was told both scenarios point to an "airport insider."

"If proven accurate, if ISIS did put a bomb on this aircraft which I believe to be true, it's a new chapter with respect to ISIS," Texas Republican Rep. Mike McCaul told Fox News. McCaul -- who receives regular briefings -- cannot discuss classified information, but said the Obama administration has consistently underestimated ISIS by emphasizing its focus on gaining territory, rather than expanding its reach to global plots.

"We always assumed Al Qaeda had this capability but now if ISIS has this capability, the threat to American airlines as well and our homeland, I think is very significant."

[The] Metrojet 9268 disintegrated approximately 23 minutes into the flight, and investigators are now focused on a “90-minute window” before the flight took off and who had access. These new data points explain why investigators are interviewing ground crews and those with access to the departure lounge, as well as reviewing surveillance camera video.

The Defense Department was asked Tuesday whether C-4, an explosive provided to the Iraqi military by the U.S., had been obtained by ISIS.
Polite way of phrasing the question: what they've been asked is whether we gave any C-4 to the Iraqi military. Or the Jordanians. Or the Saudis. Or the Turks. Or the Iranians...
"We don't have any reason to believe that any U.S. munitions were involved in whatever transpired with the crash itself," Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook said. "We're still waiting for the investigation to run its course."

A third data point that goes to the airport insider theory is that ISIS has claimed responsibility, though it has been reluctant to explain how it brought down the jet, leaving the airport mole in place.
If they really wanted to keep the mole safe they would have either a) kept their mouths shut and foregone the propaganda value of the bombing or b) set up a clever scheme to throw us off the tracks of the mole. The Russians call it "wolf meat".

Assailants raid house, kill 8 in Egypt's North Sinai Al-Arish city
[AlAhram] Eight civilians were rubbed out late Wednesday by unknown assailants who raided their home in Egypt's North Sinai Al-Arish city, MENA state news agency reported.

Security and medical sources told the state news agency that the unknown assailants raided a house in Al-Batal district in Al-Arish city and shot everyone present in the house.

The attack resulted in the death of eight people, one of which was a young girl, while another individual was injured.

Security sources claim that the killing of the eight individuals was due to conflicts between families.

AFP, however, reported that the "victims had been killed for cooperating with security forces," according to other security sources.

Previous media reports have been issued of civilians killed by Islamist murderous Moslems for allegedly cooperating with the army and police personnel in the northern parts of the peninsula.

Al-Arish is at the center of ongoing fighting between Egyptian armed forces and Islamist murderous Moslems Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis.

The majority of attacks carried out by Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis are reported to have targeted security personnel.

Assailants open fire on church in Giza’s Haram district, injuring policeman
Boys will be boys, and dhimmis can just suck it up.
[AlAhram] Unknown assailants fired several shots at an evangelical church in Giza's Haram district midday Wednesday, leaving a policeman injured, MENA state news agency reported.

Sources from the interior ministry told the state news agency that three assailants riding a cycle of violence were witnessed opening fire on the church.

The sources said the assailants then started shooting at the security personnel who were guarding the church. The guards returned fire.

The last similar attack on churches in Egypt was in April, when assailants opened fire on a church in Alexandria, injuring a policeman and four civilians.

Minor bombs in churches were also reported in different governorates in April, resulting in minor injuries.

Coalition strikes, fighting kill 24 Yemen rebels
[AlAhram] At least 24 rebels were killed Thursday in Saudi-led coalition air strikes and attacks by pro-government forces in Yemen's south, military sources said.

Coalition jets bombed two rebel troops carriers north of Damt, the second largest city in Daleh province, which Iran-backed Shiite Houthis and their allies recaptured on Saturday.

The strikes left 13 rebels dead and several others maimed, said Ali Moqbel Saleh, the commander of a loyalist military camp in the region.

Elsewhere in the same region, 11 rebels were killed in two ambushes on their convoys by fighters loyal to exiled President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi, another military source said.

AFP could not confirm these tolls from independent sources and the rebels rarely acknowledge their losses.

The loyalists, backed by Saudi-led coalition strikes, supplies and troops, pushed the rebels out of Daleh and four other southern provinces in July.

But the rebels this weekend recaptured several positions in the south, sparking deadly fighting in the region.

Paris shootings in city centre and explosion at Stade de France
breaking. 48 hr rule in effect
Gunmen have opened fire in several places in the French capital, Paris, causing several casualties, French media report.

At least one man opened fire with an automatic gun at the Cambodge restaurant in the 11th district.

Liberation newspaper reports four deaths. It also reports shootings near the Bataclan arts centre.

An explosion is also reported to have targeted a bar near Stade de France, where France were hosting Germany.

Reports say President Francois Hollande was watching the match and has been evacuated.

A BBC journalist at the Cambodge restaurant says he can see 10 people on the road either dead or seriously injured.

He says police have now arrived.

Shooting is said to be continuing.

#18  Explosions also erupted at the Stade de France, the national stadium, where Germany and France were holding a soccer match, the Associated Press reports.

"It is a terrible trauma for France," Hollande, who had been at the stadium, said in a national TV address."Once again we are under attack."

He said the French military was being deployed around Paris after the unprecedented attacks.

Hollande also said, without elaborating that security forces were assaulting one of the sites hit by Friday’s attacks.

“It’s a horror,” he said.

"The terrorists want to scare us and instill fear," he said. "There are reasons to be afraid, but the nation knows how to defend itself and mobilize its forces and how to defeat the terrorists."

The death toll ranged as high as 60 in the French media.

#21  'It's a horror'

This sort of language plays right into the 'terrorists' hands. Especially if it come from a supposed leader, like Hollande. He should be showing a calmness, a steely resolve, and a sense of outrage, not saying how 'horrified' he is by the actions of these murderous arseholes. He's not some helpless old granny watching a friend being roughed up by thugs.

'It's an despicable outrage that will be met with overwhelming force. We will hunt down the animals who have done this, and we will kill them. We will hunt down those who led and encouraged them, and we will kill them, too. We will not stop until all those who would commit these crimes against us know that, if they try, if they lift a finger against us, we will kill them too. We will kill them whever they are. We will not pay in innocent French blood for the madness and hatred of others.'

That would be a bit more inspiring than 'It's a horror'.

Italy issues 17 arrest warrants in terrorism blitz
[AlAhram] Police in Italia say they have issued 17 arrest warrants for Iraqi Kurds on terrorism-related charges in a Europe-wide blitz.

Carabinieri Gen. Giuseppe Governale told RAI state radio Thursday that the operation involved investigations in Britannia, Norway, Finland, Germany and Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
. The ANSA news agency said the suspects are accused of international terrorism association. A news conference is being held later in the day with Italia's top anti-terrorism officials

Norway's security service PST, meanwhile, told Norwegian media that a tossed in the slammer

on suspicion of their involvement in a terror plot in Italia.

PST spokeswoman Siv Alsen said Najmaddin Faraj Ahmad, known as Mullah Krekar, and two others whom she didn't name, face a court hearing Friday in Oslo, Norway, pending a possible deportation to Italia.

Last month, Ahmad was sentenced to 18 months in jail for praising the slaying of cartoonists at the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo
...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe...
, which had lampooned Islam and other religions. He was also found guilty of urging others to kill a Kurdish immigrant in Norway in the same interview with Norwegian broadcaster NRK.

Earlier this year, Ahmad was freed after nearly three years' imprisonment for making death threats. The 59-year-old Kurd, who came to Norway as a refugee in 1991, was convicted in 2005 for a similar offense.

Norway and the United States have accused Ahmad of financing a defunct Iraqi Sunni Lion of Islam group called Ansar al-Islam. It reportedly merged with the Islamic State

meeting on the migrant crisis, Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg said "if this means that Krekar leaves Norway, that's fine."
An Nahar adds:
Italian police on Thursday announced a swoop on a European jihadist network that was allegedly planning to try to spring its leader out of detention in Norway.

Seventeen people were targeted in the raids across Europe -- 16 Kurds and a Kosovan. Six of them have been arrested in Italy, four in Britain and three in Norway.

Several members of the group have traveled to Iraq and Syria to fight for the Islamic State group, police said.

Investigators said the network was trying to free Norway-based fundamentalist preacher Najmuddin Ahmad Faraj -- also known as Mullah Krekar -- who is listed as a terrorist by the United States and United Nations.

The network developed "on the 'dark web', little-known (Internet) platforms that we have managed to penetrate," Giovanni Governale of the Italian police's Special Operations Group said, adding that the swoop has allowed police to scupper "a process of recruitment, of sending (fighters) into combat abroad".

Governale said the network "was about to continue sending many other jihadists abroad; it was about to carry out attacks, including suicide bombings, to try to free their chief, Mullah Krekar".

The 59-year-old, a Kurdish Iraqi, has been living in Norway since 1991.

He has been at risk of deportation since 2003 after Norwegian authorities ordered him to be expelled as a threat to national security.

While courts have upheld the ruling, Norwegian law bars him from being deported to Iraq, where he risks the death penalty.

Krekar also founded the radical Islamist group Ansar al-Islam, but insists he has not led it since 2002.

Turkish security forces detain 10 ISIS suspects
ISTANBUL – Turkish police forces have detained 11 suspects belonging to the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS) in a new security operation in the city of Istanbul, local media reported on Thursday.

“The 11 suspects, including seven foreign nationals, were arrested Thursday during simultaneous operations on some 20 locations in the city,” the Anadolu Agency reported.

The suspects have entered the Turkish territory to join the ISIS extremist group, according to the source. Over the past few weeks, Turkish authorities have detained dozens of ISIS suspects, including some 20 suspects in the city of Antalya.

Also on Thursday, a French ISIS suspect was arrested after having a hair transplant, local media reported. He is believed to have been planning a terror attack on the Turkish soil.

The suspect, who was identified as Mehdibend Saeed, was arrested in the Aegean coast town of Izmir after intelligence agents followed him to a clinic from where he had the hair transplant, security sources told local media.

Saeed, who has been under surveillance since entering Turkey from Syria, admitted to investigators that he was craved to have more cosmetic surgery to make him “look better”.

Currently, Turkish clinics flourished for trade in hair transplants, especially for people of Gulf states.

The Turkish authorities have recently intensified security measures and arrested dozens of ISIS suspects, specifically after suicide bombings hit the southern city of Suruc and the capital Ankara, killing dozens of peaceful activists and civilians.

Before the Turkish elections on November 1, two police officers and seven ISIS members have been killed in a security raid on suspect houses in the southeastern city of Diyarbakir.

Akron Ohio man arrested for soliciting murder of US servicemen
AKRON, Ohio -- The FBI on Thursday arrested an Akron man on a terrorism-related charge, as agents say he solicited the killing of members of the military in the name of an Islamic terrorist group.

Terrence McNeil, 25, is charged with one count of solicitation of a crime of violence.

McNeil, according to U.S. Attorney's Office, supported the Islamic State, a terrorist organization also known as ISIL.

(To read the complaint filed against him, scroll to the bottom of the original story.)

He is accused of uploading a file on Sept. 24 to a Tumblr account that showed photos, addresses and military branch of people believed to be members of the military. One of the slides in the file reads:

"O Brothers in America, know that the jihad against the crusaders is not limited to the lands of the Khilafah, it is a world-wide jihad and their war is not just a war against the Islamic State, it is a war against Islam...Know that it is wajib (translated to "necessary") for you to kill these kuffar! and now we have made it easy for you by giving you addresses, all you need to do is take the final step, so what are you waiting for? Kill them in their own lands, behead them in their own homes, stab them to death as they walk their streets thinking that they are safe..."

The final image in the file shows a photo of a handgun and a knife with a note that says "and kill them wherever you find them ..." according to prosecutors. The file then loops several dozen photographs, believed to be of U.S. military personnel, along with their respective name, address and military branch.

The final image looped is a picture of a handgun and a knife with text that reads "...and kill them wherever you find them..."

Terror bid foiled in Zhob, security forces attacked in Awaran
QUETTA: Security forces on Thursday claimed to have foiled a terror bid in Balochsitan’s Zhob district.

“Terrorists had dumped the weapons, and we raided the spot after receiving credible information,” said a security official.

Security forces claim to have recovered two rocket launchers, nine landmines and other weapons during the raid.

The raid was conducted at a spot used as a sanctuary by a proscribed organisation, added the security official.

No arrests were made as the alleged terrorists had fled from the spot before the arrival of security forces.

In a separate incident, one security personnel was killed and another injured when their vehicle was attacked by suspected militants in Balochistan’s Awaran district.

The vehicle came under fire as it was enroute to Mashkail from Awaran.

“One security official Parvez was killed, while another, Rasheed, was injured in the attack,” said an official from the Frontier Corps (FC).

The injured FC official was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Additional forces from security agencies reached the spot and started their initial investigation.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

Balochistan has been experiencing a low-level insurgency by ethnic Baloch separatists. Al Qaeda-linked militants also operate in the region.

Iraq
Kurds cut ISIS supply lines
[ARA News] ERBIL – The Kurdish Peshmerga forces on Thursday broke into the western neighborhoods of Shingal (Sinjar) area in northern Iraq, in a bid to regain the Yezidi region from the extremist group of Islamic State (ISIS), military sources reported.

Speaking to ARA News in Shingal, media activist Serdar Haji, who accompanies the Peshmerga, said that the Kurdish Peshmerga forces, backed by intense air raids from the U.S.-led coalition, were able to block most of the terror group’s supply lines in the area, breaking into the western neighborhoods in Shingal.

The source stressed that ISIS tried to impede the Peshmerga progress with several suicide attacks, planting improvised explosive devices in the surrounding houses and burning tires to mislead the coalition aircraft.

“However, the Kurdish forces have advanced on ground after engineering teams removed and dismantled the landmines,” he added.

The source pointed out that the Peshmerga seized control of key locations, including the cement plant in the western parts of Shingal (Sinjar) district.

Speaking to ARA News in Shingal, the officer in the Ministry of Peshmerga, Major Saeed Bakri, said that the Peshmerga forces were able Thursday to recapture key points in the area, west of Mosul, pointing out that liberating Shingal is aimed at cutting major ISIS supply lines between western Mosul and Tal Afar.

“We were able to liberate five villages, which facilitated besieging the area from all sides,” he said, adding “the Peshmerga forces began storming the districts of Kabarit, Tensoor and other parts of Shingal after ISIS militants fled the area.”

The operation includes nearly 7,500 Peshmergas who are attacking the area from three sides in a bid to block ISIS supply routes, the Kurdish Region Security Council has said in a statement.

Intelligence estimated the number of ISIS militants in Sinjar of more than 600 gunmen, after receiving additional reinforcements weeks ago in anticipation of the Peshmerga-led operation on the area. The weather conditions and rifts between the Kurdish forces and Yezidi fighters in Sinjar facilitated the entry of those jihadists, according to observers.

Shingal town enjoys a strategic location, it connects the cities of Raqqa in eastern Syria with Mosul in northern Iraq –both held by ISIS.

In August last year, ISIS extremists had taken control of Shingal, causing a mass displacement of nearly 400,000 people to Duhok and Erbil, in Iraqi Kurdistan. Tens of thousands of Yezidis remained trapped in Mount Sinjar, suffering mass killings, kidnappings and rape cases. Also, Arab tribes took part in those acts against Yezidis Kurds, according to local monitoring groups.

#1  More info:
Hours into Thursday’s operation, the Kurdish Regional Security Council said its forces controlled a section of Highway 47, which passes by Sinjar and indirectly links the militants’ two biggest strongholds — Raqqa in Syria and Mosul in northern Iraq — as a route for goods, weapons and fighters.

Coalition-backed Kurdish fighters on both sides of the border are trying to retake parts of that corridor as part of Operation Free Sinjar.

“By controlling Highway 47, which is used by Daesh to transport weapons, fighters, illicit oil, and other commodities that fund their operations, the coalition intends to increase pressure … and isolate their components from each other,” a coalition statement said.

The coalition said 24 airstrikes were carried out in the past day, striking nine militant tactical units, nine staging areas and destroying 27 fighting positions, among other targets. Coalition aircraft have conducted more than 250 airstrikes in the past month across northern Iraq.

Maybe Obumble was shamed by Putie to make more of an effort? We can hope?

Clashes between Iraqi Kurd, Shiite fighters kill seven
[AlAhram] Clashes between Iraqi Kurdish and Shia fighters north of Baghdad killed seven people Thursday, an official said, illustrating major fault lines between ostensible allies against the Islamic State

jihadist group.

The violence poses a significant threat in provinces where both forces operate, where it could inspire further unrest.

The fighting killed seven people and maimed 22, including civilians as well as combatants, said Shallal Abdul Baban, the local official responsible for the area.

Some 40 people from both sides have been detained in connection with the unrest, he said.

The violence began at a checkpoint near the town of Tuz Khurmatu and then spread inside it, and led to the closure of the main road linking Baghdad with the autonomous Kurdish region.

Gunmen from both sides took up positions in buildings in the town and used automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades in the fighting, said Ridha Mohammed Kawthar, the head of the local security committee.

A curfew was announced due to the violence, Kawthar said, and Baban said the fighting had stopped by Thursday evening.

Kurdish officials blamed Shia fighters for the start of the violence, saying they refused to stop at a checkpoint, leading to a dispute that escalated into festivities.

But Mohammed al-Bayati, a leader in the Badr militia, said a group of Shia fighters including some of his group's forces were attacked by Kurdish forces "for no reason".

Iraqi Kurdish forces and members of the Popular Mobilisation units, which are dominated by Iran-backed Shia militias, have been two of the most effective forces in the battle against the Islamic State group, which overran large parts of the country last year.

But while both forces are opposed to the jihadists and have cooperated at times, they differ sharply in their loyalty and aims.

Terrorist arrested in Hebron hospital bed, cousin killed in raid
[Ynet] Azzam Shalaldeh stabbed and moderately maimed Israeli in Gush Etzion last month and managed to escape despite being shot; his cousin was shot trying to fight off Israeli troops.

Israeli security forces enjugged
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
a terrorist in his hospital bed in Hebron on Wednesday night, shooting and killing his cousin in the raid.

Azzam Shalaldeh, 20, stabbed and moderately maimed 58-years-old Israel Ben-Aharon near the settlement of Metzad in the West Bank last month, and managed to escape despite being shot by his victim.

Shalaldeh was being treated at the al-Ahli hospital in Hebron, where he was arrested in a joint operation of the Shin Bet, the Border Police's counterterrorism unit and the IDF.

The director of the hospital, Jehad Shawar, told Paleostine radio that 20-30 men had arrived at the clinic in two mini vans at around three o'clock in the morning. They entered with someone pretending to be pregnant.

CCTV footage from inside the hospital showed a large group of men armed with pistols and rifles, some with beards and others with keffiyeh scarves on their heads, walking through the corridors telling hospital workers to get out of the way.

"They held the staff at gunpoint and stormed the room of Shalaldeh," Shawar said.

Shalaldeh's brother Bilal, who was asleep in vigil alongside him, said he was tied to the bed by the Israeli forces.

The IDF said Shalaldeh's 28-year-old cousin, Abdullah Shalaldeh, attacked the forces and was rubbed out.

Shawar, however, claimed the cousin, who was in the bathroom, was rubbed out when he suddenly entered the room. "As (Abdullah) exited the bathroom, which was inside the room, they fired five bullets, one bullet in the head, one in the chest and three in his body," Shawar told the radio station.

"They took (Azzam) and placed him in the wheelchair they brought the woman in and they exited the room preventing anyone from giving medical aid to the young man laid on the floor."

Shawar claimed that he did not know the person he was treating was a terrorist. "No one told me this was a wanted man. All I knew was that he was maimed during an olive harvest, that's what they told us," he said.

"This is an outright crime. This is against international law. No one should violate hospitals, but Israel did," Shawar said.

The Shalaldeh family, that came to collect Abdullah's body, claimed Israel had executed him, but admitted that he tried to fight the soldiers after realizing they were trying to arrest his cousin. The IDF is preparing for riots during Shalaldeh's funeral.

Paleostinian Health Minister Jawad Awad accused Israeli security forces of "executing" Abdallah al-Shalaldeh, who he said was escorting a relative inside the hospital.

"The international community must intervene to protect our people from the Israeli killing machine," he said.

The Shin Bet later issued a statement saying "it will not permit terror operatives to hide in any places of refuge."

Shalaldeh is from a family of Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, bandidos snuffies north of Hebron. He was transferred to the Shin Bet for questioning.

Shalaldeh's brother, Bilal, told Rooters TV: "As soon they entered the room they tied me to the bed. (My cousin) was inside the bathroom and wanted to wash for prayer. As he was exiting the bathroom, one of the under cover men shouted at him to stop and they opened fire.

"He remained on the ground bleeding and they hit my brother on his head and took him away."

The IDF and police assumed he had fled to the village of Si'ir and during their searches there an IDF soldier was lightly maimed by rocks thrown at the forces there.

Israel Ben-Aharon, who was maimed in the attack, said he was not surprised of the arrest. "I saw the video of how he (Azzam) was being treated after the attack, so I thought it was just a matter of time before they picked him up," he said.

"This just proves that we shouldn't kill terrorists, only badly wound them. This way he will not return to terror activities, and he will 'sing' for Shin bet interrogators," Ben-Aharon added.

Kurds repel ISIS attack in north Raqqa
URFA – At least nine militants from the extremist group of Islamic State (ISIS) have been killed in clashes with the Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) south of the town of Suluk in Raqqa province, military sources reported on Thursday.

The YPG’s Media Centre said in a statement: “ISIS terrorists targeted with mortar fire the village of Humera south of Suluk in the countryside of Tel Abyad, led to clashes with our troops in the area.”

“Two terrorists tried to carry out a suicide attack, but the YPG fighters thwarted the attack, killing the suicide bombers,” the YPG leadership said.

The Kurdish forces killed several other ISIS militants in the clashes that centered in southern Suluk town.

“Our forces collected seven corpses of ISIS terrorists subsequent to the clashes,” the YPG leadership added.

“The YPG has also seized six Kalashnikovs, one machinegun, weapon M16, 10 hand grenades and three explosive belts, following the clashes.”

The statement concluded that one of the YPG fighters has lost his life in Suluk’s clashes.

Earlier this week, at least four civilians were killed and two more wounded after ISIS militants pounded a YPG-held village near the city of Tel Abyad in Raqqa province, military sources reported.

Speaking to ARA News, spokesman of the Kurdish YPG forces in Tel Abyad Habun Osman said: “The terrorist group (ISIS) has bombed the village of Skahrat al-Abed Sheikh (25 km south of Tel Abyad) and caused the death of four civilians and the injury of several others.”

The border city of Tel Abyad was recaptured by the Kurdish forces in June. During ISIS control over the city, Tel Abyad has served as a primary conduit for incoming weapons and militants, as well as for the exportation of oil to the black market through Turkey.

43 Dead, 239 Hurt as 2 IS Suicide Bombers Target Bourj al-Barajneh in Leb
[AnNahar] Twin suicide kabooms rocked a busy shopping street Thursday in the Beirut southern suburb of Bourj al-Barajneh, killing 43 people and wounding 239 others, in the worst such attack in years.

NNA said the attack was carried out by two jacket wallahs who blew up their explosive vests in the Ain al-Sikkeh street.

The Internal Security Forces said two men on foot set off boom jackets in front of a shopping center.

Health Minister Wael Abou Faour, speaking from the scene on a street of shops where vendors also sell from stalls, said many of the injured were at death's door.

The army said the body of a "third terrorist" was found at the scene of one of the blasts after he apparently failed to blow himself up.

group claimed the attack in a statement posted online.

"Soldiers of the Caliphate detonated explosives planted on a cycle of violence in an area frequented by Rafida (Shiites)," the statement said.

"After the apostates gathered in the area, one of the knights of martyrdom detonated his boom belt in the midst of them," the statement added.

The claim could not be independently verified but the statement followed the usual format of IS claims of responsibility and was circulated on jihadist online accounts.

An AFP photographer saw extensive damage to buildings around the site of the blast and bodies inside some of the nearby shops.

There was blood on the streets, and security forces were trying to cordon off the scene and keep people from gathering.

Local television stations showed footage of maimed people being carried away by emergency services and civilians.

"I'd just arrived at the shops when the blast went off. I carried four bodies with my own hands, three women and a man, a friend of mine," a man who gave his name as Zein al-Abideen Khaddam told local television.

- 'Thought world ended' -
Another described the sound of the blasts.

"When the second blast went off, I thought the world had ended," he said.

The maimed were evacuated to several hospitals in the area, including the Bahman hospital in neighboring Haret Hreik.

"We've received dozens of maimed people and they're continuing to arrive," a doctor there told AFP.

The blast is the first to target Beirut's southern suburbs since June 2014, when a suicide boom-mobile killed a General Security officer who had tried to stop the bomber.

But prior to that, a string of attacks targeted Hizbullah

strongholds throughout the country.

Between July 2013 and February 2014, there were nine attacks on Hizbullah bastions, most claimed by jihadist myrmidons.

The groups claimed the attacks were in Dire Revenge for Hizbullah's decision to send thousands of fighters into neighboring Syria to support Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

Syria Army Takes Aleppo Rebel Town in New Advance
[AnNahar] Syria's army, backed by allied forces and Russian air strikes, seized a key rebel town south of Aleppo on Thursday, scoring its second major advance in the province this week.

State television announced the capture of al-Hader, a former opposition bastion near the key Aleppo-Damascus highway, just 48 hours after regime forces broke a siege by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group of the Kweyris air base in the east of Aleppo province.

"Syrian troops and allied forces have full control of al-Hader," a military source told AFP of the town, which is around 25 kilometers (15 miles) south of Aleppo city.

The source said troops from Leb's Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
as well as Iranian forces were participating in the operation.

Both advances come after Moscow launched an air campaign in support of regime forces on September 30, prompting the army to begin offensives in several provinces.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor confirmed regime forces had taken control of large parts of Al-Hader, though it said fighting was ongoing inside the town.

It said both Syrian and Russian warplanes were carrying out strikes in the area.

"The town is the biggest headquarters for rebel forces in southern Aleppo, and capturing it would bring the army closer to the key Aleppo-Damascus highway," Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman said.

Al-Hader was largely controlled by al-Qaeda affiliate al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli sh-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front and other allied Islamist groups, he said.

The town has been a key goal in the regime's offensive south of Aleppo city launched on October 17 with Russian air support.

Aleppo city has been divided between government control in the west and rebel control in the east since shortly after fighting began there in mid-2012.

The situation is largely reversed in the countryside surrounding the city, and a large stretch of the Aleppo-Damascus highway leading from the government-controlled portion of Aleppo is under opposition control.

- A base for new offensives -
The capture of al-Hader comes after regime forces on Tuesday entered the Kweyris military base in the eastern Aleppo province, breaking an IS siege that had lasted for more than a year.

The Observatory said Thursday that more than 100 combatants had been killed in the battle for the base, where around 1,000 regime troops had been trapped for months.

The group said at least 60 IS jihadists and 20 regime soldiers had been killed in the fighting.

It also reported the deaths of 13 Iranian forces and eight members of Hizbullah.

The monitor said fighting was ongoing to the west and southeast of the airport on Thursday, with Russian warplanes carrying out strikes in support of government troops.

A military source told AFP Thursday that the army planned to use the airport as a forward operating base for new offensives against IS in the province.

He noted that the base is a few kilometers (miles) from the station that supplies electricity to Aleppo city, as well as to major IS strongholds in the province.

"Kweyris airport is not just an air base but an integrated military base and taking control of it will give joint Syrian and Russian forces an advance post from which to launch other operations," the source told AFP.

"The Syrian army is preparing for the start of military operations in areas where festivities have not occurred for three years," he added.

He noted in particular the base's proximity to IS-held Deir Hafer, around 10 kilometers (six miles) from Kweyris, as well as al-Bab, a major IS stronghold to the north.

US ‘99% sure’ it killed Islamic State executioner ‘Jihadi John’
[IsraelTimes] Pentagon targets British jihadist Mohammed Emwazi in Syria drone strike

US drone strike targeted a vehicle in Syria believed to be transporting the masked Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. jihadist known as "Jihadi John" on Thursday, according to American officials. Whether the strike killed the British man, who appeared in several videos depicting the beheadings of Western hostages, was not known, officials said.

Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook said the strike Thursday in Syria's Raqqa targeted Mohammed Emwazi. Cook said whether or not Emwazi died in the strike wasn't immediately clear.

"We are assessing the results of tonight's operation and will provide additional information as and where appropriate," he said in a statement.

American officials who spoke on condition of anonymity to The Washington Post said the Arclight airstrike targeted a vehicle and may have killed another member of a group of English-speaking Islamic State fighters called "the Beatles."

However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
an unnamed senior US official told Fox News, "We are 99 percent sure we got him."

Emwazi is in the videos showing the killings of journalists Steven Sotloff -- who held Israeli citizenship -- and James Foley, US aid worker Abdul-Rahman Kassig, British aid workers David Haines and Alan Henning, Japanese journalist Kenji Goto, and a number of other hostages.

Sotloff's mother, Shirley Sotloff, told NBC News following word of Thursday's strike that she hadn't been informed about it and that, even if Emwazi had been killed, "it doesn't bring my son back."

"Who knows if he's gone," NBC News quoted her as saying. "I don't think there will ever be closure."

The former London resident emigrated to the UK from his native Kuwait when he was 6, and first gained infamy after he beheaded Foley in August 2014.

The Islamic State later produced a series of videos featuring Emwazi beheading Sotloff and a number of other Westerners, while threatening world leaders from behind a black mask -- in perfect English and with an unmistakable London accent.

Emwazi was identified as "Jihadi John" last February, although a lawyer who once represented Emwazi's father told news hounds that there was no evidence supporting the accusation. Experts and others later confirmed the identification.

Officials said Britannia's intelligence community had Emwazi on its list of potential terror suspects for years but was unable to prevent him from traveling to Syria. He had been known to the nation's intelligence services since at least 2009, when he was connected with investigations into terrorism in Somalia.

While Emwazi has been a high-value target for Western security agencies, he has successfully evaded coalition Arclight airstrikes by constantly changing his location with his security detail, making it incredibly difficult to pinpoint him.

Prior to joining the krazed killer group, Emwazi was considered a model student at the University of Westminster, where he studied information systems and business management from 2006 to 2009. Records indicate that he was two modules short of obtaining his degree.
