Beest's Emails Contained SAP (Special Access Program) Info, Sez IG
[LI] Hillary Clinton's decision to use a private email account while serving as Secretary of State was a security disaster if ever there was one.

Not only did she route her personal email account through a home-brewed server (a home-brewed server that was kept in the bathroom), classified information has been found in over 1,000 emails reviewed by the Department of State.

Worse still, emails released by the State Department as part of court-ordered monthly document dump suggest Hillary instructed subordinates to remove classified designations from documents in order to send them through insecure channels.

Now, the Inspector General says Hillary's emails contained information from the most secretive, classified sources.

Fox News exclusively obtained the text of the unclassified letter, sent Jan. 14 from Intelligence Community Inspector General I. Charles McCullough III. It laid out the findings of a recent comprehensive review by intelligence agencies that identified "several dozen" additional classified emails -- including specific intelligence known as "special access programs" (SAP).

That indicates a level of classification beyond even "top secret," the label previously given to two emails found on her server, and brings even more scrutiny to the presidential candidate's handling of the government's closely held secrets.

"To date, I have received two sworn declarations from one [intelligence community] element. These declarations cover several dozen emails containing classified information determined by the IC element to be at the confidential, secret, and top secret/sap levels," said the IG letter to lawmakers with oversight of the intelligence community and State Department. "According to the declarant, these documents contain information derived from classified IC element sources."

Intelligence from a "special access program," or SAP, is even more sensitive than that designated as "top secret" -- as were two emails identified last summer in a random sample pulled from Clinton's private server she used as secretary of state. Access to a SAP is restricted to those with a "need-to-know" because exposure of the intelligence would likely reveal the source, putting a method of intelligence collection -- or a human asset -- at risk. Currently, some 1,340 emails designated "classified" have been found on Clinton's server, though the Democratic presidential candidate insists the information was not classified at the time.

"There is absolutely no way that one could not recognize SAP material," a former senior law enforcement with decades of experience investigating violations of SAP procedures told Fox News. "It is the most sensitive of the sensitive."

Executive Order 13526 -- called "Classified National Security Information" and signed Dec. 29, 2009 -- sets out the legal framework for establishing special access programs. The order says the programs can only be authorized by the president, "the Secretaries of State, Defense, Energy, and Homeland Security, the Attorney General, and the Director of National Intelligence, or the principal deputy of each."

The programs are created when "the vulnerability of, or threat to, specific information is exceptional," and "the number of persons who ordinarily will have access will be reasonably small and commensurate with the objective of providing enhanced protection for the information involved," it states.

According to court documents, former CIA Director David Petraeus was prosecuted for sharing intelligence from special access programs with his biographer and mistress Paula Broadwell. At the heart of his prosecution was a non-disclosure agreement where Petraeus agreed to protect these closely held government programs, with the understanding "unauthorized disclosure, unauthorized retention or negligent handling ... could cause irreparable injury to the United States or be used to advantage by a foreign nation." Clinton signed an identical non-disclosure agreement Jan. 22, 2009.

Fox News is told that the recent IG letter was sent to the leadership of the House and Senate intelligence committees and leaders of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, as well as the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and State Department inspector general.

Fox News has asked the committees to make the letter public because its findings are unclassified.

Representatives for the ODNI and intelligence community inspector general had no comment, but did not dispute the findings.

The intelligence community IG was responding in his message to a November letter from the Republican chairmen of the Senate intelligence and foreign relations committees that questioned the State Department email review process after it was wrongly reported the intelligence community was retreating from the "top secret" designation.

#2  Hmmm. Black internet so no way to electronically get it to the WWW. Bank safe doors at the perimeter with internal access controlled rooms with motion detector's containing file safes with individual combinations.

Some people are going to jail. Do not pass GO, do not collect $200. Lynch can't stop this without facing charges herself.

Britain
'Trump paving way for Clinton's victory'
[Iran Press TV] The British Parliament on Monday opened a debate over a popular petition to ban the US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump from entering Britannia.

The petition that has been signed by over half a million people was prepared in the wake of the recent anti-Muslim remarks by Trump.

Before the MPs voted on the move, it was already being viewed as a positive gesture which could help stop what many are already criticizing as the racist positions of politicians.

There was little hope that Trump could even be barred from entering the UK. Nevertheless, speculations have been emerging among the analysts in Britannia that the controversial Republican candidate is pursuing a specific agenda through his anti-Muslim rhetoric.

Shabir Hassanally, a UK-based political commentator, told Press TV that Trump is pushing ahead with a carefully calculated campaign to give the ticket to the White House to his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Henry L. Stimson ...
"I don't really believe he is angling to be the president of the US," said Hassanally. "I believe that he has a specific task which is to make sure that Hillary Clinton gets in by being so obnoxious."

Nevertheless, he emphasized that the move by the British people to prepare a petition to ban Trump from entering Britannia was praiseworthy.

#3  So... I went over the slashdot when rantburg was down this morning... there's a thread over there on Trump Says he'd make Apple build computers in the US.

Funny thing is, while still not liking Trump all that much... I dislike the zeitgeist there even more... they have fantasies and lies stacked on fantasies and lies, that American manufacturing is impossible, and that they'll all magically still have jobs after the last of it is gone.

They'll mesh "and we all know Apple would go bankrupt if they made stuff here" with "and that stupid idiot doesn't even know the Mac Pro is built here..."
Posted by: Thing From Snowy Mountain || 01/19/2016 13:38 Comments || Top||

#4  So the fact that they can mesh together "Trump = You know Who" with "Trump = Ross Perot Style Spoiler" shouldn't be surprising. Heck, with Perot the last time around, there were SF novels with a disguised Perot as the evil-dictator-wannabe villain.

#5  The world's not gonna need HP or Apple or even Linux if the market's going to be mainly Android phones or tablets or PC's made in China with a made-in-China BIOS and binary blobs.

#6  Thing, you're still gonna need something with some heft in the server rooms...on the back end. You can't handle corporate data bases with an iPhone...yet. The problem is how can you trust a computer made in China? You gonna certify every little chip in every little box? It's madness.

#7  Ebbang: Fortune: China’s Tianhe-2 machine once again leads the world as the most powerful supercomputer, according to researchers.

Not that you can trust it, but if we don't have stuff made here, something we can trust won't be an option.

Lenovo already owns IBM's server group, and has their own custom BIOSes that we don't have the source code to.

#8  Not that you can trust it, but if we don't have stuff made here, something we can trust won't be an option.

That's what bothers me. It's been bothering me for a long time. Am I the only one? Maybe not. Maybe that's what bothers Trump. I think it should bother anyone who has any sense, just like Muslim immigration.

But if we have 40-50 percent of our labor force out of work maybe some of them would consider working for less instead of sitting on their butts and relying on EBT cards.

#10  Ebbang: the cost of employing someone is north of twice as much as their actual salary. Worker's comp, liability, unemployment insurance, etc... it all adds up. Heck, is it time for me to mention stuff like the Now Mandatory Health Insurance?

At the threading plant I was working at until recently... a 12.50/hr welder's helper cost about 30.00/hr when hired through a temporary labor agency.

It's an immense stack of private and public taxes the Mandarin Class has stuck on top of the American Working Class. The average worker gets less than half of what you have to pay to get his labor.
Posted by: Thing From Snowy Mountain || 01/19/2016 16:49 Comments || Top||

#11  Let me put that another way: if the Average American Worker worked for you for free, ate from the local charitable food bank and slept under a bridge in order to do so, your labor costs would only go down 40%. And all the good bridges and overpasses are already taken.
Posted by: Thing From Snowy Mountain || 01/19/2016 16:55 Comments || Top||

#12  I think that, instead of worrying about gun control, black lives matter and safe spaces we need to have a national discussion about why American workers cannot compete with their Chinese counterparts. I'm not saying it's the workers' fault. But if it's so much cheaper for a worker to live and work in China, why is that? And if China is abusing it's workers then why do we trade with them? We didn't trade with the Soviets. We used to be concerned about human rights and opposed to tyranny. Not so much anymore. Now it's all about the bottom line no matter what.

#14  But if it's so much cheaper for a worker to live and work in China, why is that?

For the same reason you would rather live and work in a nice neighbourhood than in the slums, even though the slums are considerably cheaper.

I have friends who lived in the expat neighbourhood outside Beijing during the bird flu panic. The houses were large, American style properties and the community was gated and guarded, but my girlfriend still sent to America for her meds. She said there was no way of knowing if what she bought at the neighbourhood pharmacy was the unexpired product listed on the label, relabeled expired product, or run-off from the factories on the other side of town poured into used containers. When Mr. Wife was not dying of amoebic dysentary in India, his local colleagues picked up his medicines and needles at the private pharmacy used by the elites for their personal use, as the meds provided by the hospital were often tap water, and the needles reused.

#16  tw, if it's that bad they are indeed abusing their workers.

Abu Uluque, up through the 1930s the watchword for comsumers in the U.S. was also caveat emptor, let the buyer beware. The wise housewife brought her own grain to the mller to be ground into flour, and watched as it was done. The FDA originally inspected and certified the purity and wholesomeness of basic food products like flour and spices, copying a similar innovation in England. Periodically even now it is discovered that paprika powder from Hungary, imported to America, was deliberately cut with lead oxide, or was accidentally contaminated by salmonella. Such inspections, and the trust -- not to mention improved health -- it engenders, requires not only a cultural shift but a great deal of money to set up and run.

Home Front: Politix
Bernie mopped the floor with Hillary
[NYPOST] The country is in a rage, Democrats as well as Republicans, at the brokenness of our politics and the stagnation of the middle class. Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as The Heroine of Tuzla and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another John Foster Dulles ...
cannot find a way to tap into that -- and tapping into that is all Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords...
does.

Not only did she say a few things that had Republican admakers rubbing their hands together with glee -- particularly when the subject of an FBI investigation spoke the words "no individual is too big to jail."

She also had a genuinely creepy, Michael-Corleone-in-"Godfather 2" moment when she basically said "we're both part of the same hypocrisy" after the third man in the debate, Martin O'Malley
...former Democratic governor of Maryland and aspiring presidential candidate, known locally as The One-Man Economic Wrecking Crew. O'Malley was elected to his second term driven by union support and near-Stalinesque vote margins in Baltimore city (82%) and Prince George's County (88%). He presided over more than 40 tax or fee increases, including a rain tax and a flush tax...
, criticized her for raising money on Wall Street.

She really doesn't have a choice but to position herself as the insider's insider, really, though she could do it more artfully. She talked about how O'Malley had gotten Wall Street donations when he was head of the Democratic Governors Association. "Well," O'Malley replied, "I'm not getting them now."

And we know Sanders isn't. His issue set is simple. The rich should be soaked, health care should be single-payer and banks are screwing you. The reason good things don't happen, in his view, is that rich people control politics through our campaign finance system.

He's not compelled to deliver the coup de grace -- which is that Clinton's career is simply another manifestation of the ailment plaguing America -- because it is ragingly obvious.

Instead, he mentioned Goldman Sachs, the Wall Street financial firm, twice -- to make the point that both the George W. Bush and Barack B.O. regimes had a Goldman Sachs alum as Treasury secretary.

And of course Hillary Clinton took hundreds of thousands of dollars in speaking fees from the firm, which makes it difficult for her to stage a counterattack on the point.

On health care, Clinton seemed to walk into a trap. She found herself defending the charge made (by her daughter!) that Bernie Sanders would dismantle ObamaCare.

He made incredibly short work of that by saying that he voted for ObamaCare and simply wants it to be the opening step toward what he calls "Medicare For All" -- meaning a single-payer government health care system.

RNC Officially Severs Ties With Nbc News For Upcoming GOP Debate
[BREITBART] The Republican National Committee (RNC) officially voted on Monday afternoon to sever its business relationship with NBC News for the previously-scheduled Feb. 26, 2016, GOP presidential primary debate, Breitbart News has learned.

The Debate Committee for the RNC met via conference call and after hearing updates from RNC chairman Reince Priebus officially voted to cancel the partnership with NBC, according to sources on the call. The vote was unanimous.

After the October debate hosted by NBC partner CNBC--in which co-moderator John Harwood was roundly criticized for a poor performance--the RNC suspended its relationship with NBC News over that upcoming Houston debate.

"I write to inform you that pending further discussion between the Republican National Committee (RNC) and our presidential campaigns, we are suspending the partnership with NBC News for the Republican primary debate at the University of Houston on February 26, 2016," Priebus wrote to NBC News chairman Andy Lack back in late October. "The RNC's sole role in the primary debate process is to ensure that our candidates are given a full and fair opportunity to lay out their vision for America's future. We simply cannot continue with NBC without full consultation with our campaigns."

In response, NBC News signaled in a statement at the time that it thought the situation could be resolved.

"This is a disappointing development," NBC News said in a statement. "However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
along with our debate broadcast partners at Telemundo we will work in good faith to resolve this matter with the Republican Party."

This process also sparked an unprecedented meeting of brass hats with almost every GOP presidential campaign, in which campaign managers represented most of the 2016 GOP candidates to fight for better representation in the debate process. Donald Trump's team and Dr. Ben Carson
... a neurosurgeon who is under the delusion that being brilliant qualifies him to be president....
's team, as well most of the rest of the campaigns, huddled together to wrest control away from the mainstream media--which has been, until now, dominating the process.

Doesn't Make a Lot of Sense.
Bombshell emails from the State Department show that a top official at the agency suggested to Hillary Clinton's aide, Huma Abedin, in August 2011 that the then-secretary of state begin using a government email account to protect against unexpected outages of her private email server.
So, the State Department lied.
But as the emails show, Abedin pushed back on the suggestion, telling the official, Stephen D. Mull, then the executive secretary of the State Department, that a State-issued Blackberry equipped with a state.gov email address "doesn't make a lot of sense."
It makes sense if you want to hide your emails from FOI requests.
Besides showing that Clinton's top aides were against the idea of her using a state.gov email account, the emails show for the first time that top State Department officials were aware of Clinton's private email server arrangement.

The Daily Caller obtained the emails through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed on its behalf by the government watchdog group, Cause of Action.
Very clearly Hilarity didn't want her communications to be kept by the government. I suspect that's because a fair bit of what she did as Sec. of State was to help the Clinton Foundation and not our country.

#1  So both Abedin and Mull knew that there would likely be security violations resulting from the Beest's use of a private, UNCLAS system.

The Beest was violating Foggy Bottom communications policy as well as the law, and these two foks were complicit. Time for some indictments.

Partly that. Partly also because I suspect a lot of the administration's foreign policy schtuff was being kept "off the books."

I've no doubt that government-via-private-email is rampant and has been since 2008.
