High ranking police officers sacked for failing to prevent attacks in Kabul
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Following investigation into two security incidents in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
city, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has sacked some high ranking coppers for negligence in their duties.

MoI says the decision was taken to remove police chief of 12th district for failing to prevent attack on a girls' school in Arzan Qimat area.

Besides damages, watchman of Ahmad Shah Baba School also lost life when it came under the attack and set on fire by unidentified miscreants few days ago.

Also, chief of 8th Police District has been sacked for failing to prevent rocket attacks on the city.

One of the two rockets, believed to have been fired from 8th Police District, had landed near the embassy of Italia.

According to the ministry, the police chiefs would be taken under interrogation.

KDF camp had 240 soldiers, half missing
There were 240 Kenya Defence Force (KDF) in El Adde camp at the time of the attack by al Shabaab on Sunday, according to sources. The base was led by one Major and four Captains and shared one compound with the Somalia National Army.

About 63 KDF soldiers are feared dead and an unknown number are missing, some kidnapped and held hostage by the attackers.

Military spokesman David Obonyo disputed that there were 240 KDF officers at the camp, but would not give the exact number. He maintained that it was a company size team of soldiers.

A top general of the Somali National Army yesterday said Kenyan soldiers were warned of the attack on their base. General Abbas Ibrahim Gurey, commander of SNA in Gedo region said KDF commanders had actionable intelligence on the impending attack on the base.

“It was information we knew, the information was received, and they (KDF) were ready for it,” Gurey told Voice of America Somali Service.

He said the military were tipped by the Somali army and locals that heavily armed Al-shabaab group were spotted nearby days before.

The Somali army camp is said to be 600 meters away from the base where the Kenya soldiers were attacked.

Military officials including Chief of General staff Samson Mwathethe said the two camps were hit simultaneously during the pre-dawn attack on Friday morning.

Strangely however, there are no reports of any casualty suffered by the Somali Army. Sources in Garbaharey, the capital of Gedo region, say the SNA camp was actually empty of soldiers when the suicide bombers rammed the gates of the KDF camp. They left hours before the attacks, sources said.

China-Japan-Koreas
U.S. Wants China to Act on N.Korean Nuke Program
The U.S. apparently remains inclined to keep the North Korean nuclear problem at arm's length and let China take the brunt.

On Wednesday, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Tony Blinken said China has a "special role" to play in its "special relationship" with North Korea. Blinken was talking to reporters in Seoul after meetings with Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se and Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam to discuss the fallout of North Korea's nuclear test earlier this month.

China "has more influence and more leverage over North Korea than any other country because virtually all of North Korea's trade goes to, from or through China," Blinken said. "We are looking to China to show leadership on this issue."

He then went on to Beijing, where he met with his Chinese counterpart Zhang Yesui in the afternoon.

The U.S. has put "everything on the table," and is seeking further sanctions unilaterally and in partnership with other countries, he added.

Meanwhile, Blinken dutifully played to the fiction that Seoul and Washington have made no decision the deployment of Terminal High Altitude Area Defense batteries here. The THAAD batteries are a key part of the U.S.' missile defense shield and Beijing worries that they are mainly aimed at containing China's growing military might in the region.

U.S. Concludes N.Korea Did Not Test H-Bomb
The U.S. Congressional Research Service has dismissed North Korea's claim that it tested a hydrogen bomb earlier this month, describing it instead as a "boosted fission weapon" or simply a "conventional nuclear bomb."
Well that's a relief...
Many experts have expressed doubt that the North has the technology to make an H-bomb, which would be much more powerful than a conventional nuclear bomb. They base their assessment on the lower-frequency seismic waves emitted by the test, the CRS said in a report.

"Another possibility discussed by technical experts is that the Jan. 6 test was a 'boosted' fission weapon," it added. "Generally, countries would test a boosted fission weapon as the next step after testing fission weapons, on the path to developing a hydrogen bomb."
So it's not a relief...
James Syring of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency also said in a lecture at the Center for Strategic and International Studies on Tuesday that Washington believes that North Korea's technological capabilities have not improved, so there has been no change in the U.S. missile defense program.

Economy
Oil price falls below $28 a barrel - less than cost of an actual barrel
[MIRROR.CO.UK] Oil prices affect our daily lives, as consumers, drivers and commuters - but the new 12-year low in the cost of a barrel is an unusual situation.

With the lifting of sanctions against Iran, the market, already oversupplied, is expected to be flooded.

It's the anticipation of this which pushed the price of Brent crude down below $28 - or £19.60 - on Monday.

Bizarrely, that makes the cost of the oil inside a barrel less than the cost of a barrel itself.

#4  We lost $10 per barrel produced in North America last year & looking much worse this year. Lots of smaller companies are not able to pay their bills. Lots of layoffs (looking towards 40%). Horrible for us & for investors/banks heavily involved in the industry. Should be great for the rest of the economy. For now. But history shows the faster & farther an energy downturn, the faster & bigger the rebound, with all the pain it inflicts on the rest of the economy. Rockefeller's big contribution was stability, which created the oil economy.

Lawfare: Father of Slain Paris Police Attacker Sues for Murder
[AnNahar] The father of the man rubbed out as he tried to attack a Gay Paree cop shoppe two weeks ago filed a complaint on Wednesday alleging his son was murdered by police.

The probe into the killing had based its conclusions solely on the testimony of the police who shot Tarek Belgacem on January 7 -- the one-year anniversary of the jihadist attack on satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo
...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe...
, the father's lawyer Nasr Azaiez said.

"This version is contested by at least three precise and detailed witness accounts by residents," Azaiez told a news conference.

Belgacem was killed for baring a weapon, Azaiez said, in what police considered legitimate self-defense. "Do you have the right to kill him because he showed a weapon?" the lawyer asked.

A legal source confirmed that the complaint of "voluntary homicide" had been lodged against persons unknown.

Police bumped off Belgacem as he tried to attack the cop shoppe in northern Gay Paree armed with a meat cleaver and wearing a fake boom jacket, shouting "Allahu Akbar" (God is great), according to Gay Paree prosecutors.

Police said they found a handwritten note on his body in which he pledged allegiance to the jihadist Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group.

The father, Taoufik Belgacem, denied that Tarek was a jihadist, describing him as "normal, like all young people, a good person."

He added: "They could have fired at him without killing him."

A cousin, Ahmed Belgacem, charged that the note linking Tarek Belgacem to IS had been planted to "hide a police error."

Several days after the failed attack, Tunisian authorities confirmed Belgacem's identity, with his fingerprints matching those of a man investigated for a 2013 burglary in Luxembourg.

He was also implicated in crimes committed under pseudonyms in La Belle France and Germany.

But Azaiez said: "As far as we know he wasn't convicted. He was suspected of committing these crimes."

German police said Belgacem had spent time living in an asylum seekers hostel in western Germany -- some media reports alleged he had posed as a Syrian national -- and had spent four years criss-crossing Europe.

Islamic State pays tribute to Paris attackers, identifies 2 as ‘Iraqis’
[IsraelTimes] Belgian federal prosecutor says Sherlocks 'didn't know at all' the two men cited in an homage by IS magazine Dabiq

The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group has published an online photo tribute to the Muslim snuffies who killed 130 people in Gay Paree in November, including pictures of two unknown men it identifies as Iraqis.
Image can be seen at the link.
Belgian federal prosecutor Thierry Werts said Wednesday that Sherlocks "didn't know them at all," referring to two men identified by their noms de guerre as Ali Al-Iraqi and Ukashah Al-Iraqi. Al-Iraqi in Arabic means "the Iraqi."

The photo display in Dabiq, the IS propaganda magazine, also shows suspected Gay Paree attack ringleader Abdelhamid Abaaoud and eight other men in battle dress.

Fugitive suspect Salah Abdeslam is not among them -- an omission Belgian jihadi watcher Pieter van Ostaeyen said may be due to IS's desire to honor only those snuffies slain in the Nov. 13 bloodbath and its aftermath.

Last week, a French prosecutor said authorities identified a jacket wallah who went kaboom! during the police raid following the jihadist attacks in Gay Paree.

Chakib Akrouh, 25, identified from DNA matched to his mother, was a Belgian-Moroccan man also suspected of being one of the gunnies in the November rampage.

The suicide bomber who went kaboom!... was identified as Chakib Akrouh, born on August 27, 1990 in Belgium, of Belgian Moroccan nationality," Gay Paree prosecutor Francois Molins said.

Akrouh had been holed up in an apartment in the northern Gay Paree suburb of Saint-Denis with the suspected ringleader of the Gay Paree attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, who was also a Belgian of Moroccan origin.

A French woman, Hasna Aitboulahcen, who is thought to have been Abaaoud's cousin and may have been in a relationship with him, was also there at dawn on November 18, five days after the attacks, when police tried to storm the building.

All three died after Akrouh detonated the boom jacket and police rained heavy gunfire on the building.

Prosecutors initially mistakenly said the woman had been the suicide bomber, before correcting their account.

The Grand Turk
Residents Return to Shattered Turkish Kurdish Town
[AnNahar] The blanket curfew in Silopi lasted 36 days as festivities raged between the Turkish army and Kurdish Lion of Islams. Finally it was lifted, allowing residents to come to terms with the scale of the destruction in their hometown.

The curfew in Silopi, a town of some 80,000 in the Kurdish-dominated Sirnak province of southeastern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, was one of several imposed as the army wages a relentless campaign to crush Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) Lion of Islams.

The government says the measures are essential to oust Lions of Islam who had gained control of key urban centers in southeastern Turkey. Kurdish groups, by contrast, accuse the army of killing dozens of civilians.

Silopi's curfew remains in place between 6 pm and 5 am (1600 GMT-0300 GMT). But its partial lifting on January 19 allowed residents who were forced out to return and a semblance of normal life to resume.

According to the army, 140 "terrorists" have been killed in the operation in Silopi, dealing a considerable blow to the PKK.

It says another 364 Lions of Islam have been killed in an ongoing operation in the town of Cizre, also in Sirnak, that started on December 14, and 106 in the Sur district of Diyarbakir city in an operation that started on December 2.

The opposition pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) ridicules that toll and says that at least 70 civilians have been killed in the operations.

Speaking to AFP, HDP MP Feleknas Uca accused the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
and Germany of "closing their eyes" to the situation in Kurdish-majority cities and warning there risked an exodus of "hundreds of thousands" Kurdish refugees.

Many residents blame the army for the extent of the damage. But others also point a finger at the PKK and in particular its youth branch the Patriotic Revolutionist Youth Movement (YDG-H).

"They were breaking people's doors but I told them not to do that, saying people will eventually return," said Hamit Alkis.

"They pointed a gun at my chest and threatened to kill me. I said: 'Okay, kill me'. The soldiers came and just as we were walking towards the soldiers, they opened fire on us from behind, thankfully it didn't hit."

Even after the partial lifting of the curfew, there is still a heavy security presence in Silopi with armored vehicles streaming in and out. Operations continue in some neighborhoods and only a few businesses have reopened.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
said Wednesday that operations against the PKK would continue "until the region is cleansed of turbans and public order re-established in our nation."

Police in New York, Philadelphia on high alert over Daesh threat
[Iran Press TV] The New York Police Department is on high alert following threats of a Daesh [Islamic State] attack against cops.

The NYPD issued an Officer Safety Alert across the department on Wednesday, said Thomas Galati, chief of the NYPD Intelligence Bureau.

The threat was initially reported to Philadelphia police Tuesday by a tipster, claiming a man, affiliated with Daesh [Islamic State] Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
forces of Evil in Syria and Iraq, is plotting to shoot a police officer.

"We know who this individual is and we're actively looking for him right now," Galati said.

According to New York-based Daily News, sources have identified the man as parolee Marcus Shelton, 36, a native of Peekskill, who has a lengthy criminal history.

The tipster who called the Philadelphia police was also said to have been traced in upper Manhattan.

Similar tips were received about Shelton pledging allegiance to Takfiris by detectives at the 32nd Precinct in Harlem.

"We are taking it serious based on what happened in Philadelphia a couple of weeks ago," Galati said.

Early in January, a Daesh [Islamic State] affiliate, called Edward Archer, shot Officer Jesse Hartnett three times in Philadelphia, in the neighboring state of Pennsylvania.

Shelton is said to have had 20 prior arrests over various crimes, including in connection to the murder of a Peekskill man.

Early in December 2015, the US saw the deadliest mass shooting in the country in three years.

Daesh [Islamic State] affiliates, Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, stormed a holiday party in San Bernardino, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, killing at least 14 people and injuring 21 others.

ISIL terrorists, who were initially trained by the CIA in Jordan in 2012 to destabilize the Syrian government, now control parts of Syria and the neighboring Iraq, where they have been engaged in crimes against humanity.

Virginia man framed as Daesh affiliate, his lawyer says
[Iran Press TV] The lawyer of a Muslim American says his client was framed as a Daesh [Islamic State] affiliate by federal agents who target Muslim nationals by fake terror plots.
"Lies! All lies!"
Mahmoud Amin Mohammed Elhassan was placed in durance vile
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
on Friday on charges of aiding and abetting terrorism.

His attorney, Ashraf Nubani, believes, however, that the 25-year-old Virginia resident had been framed by informants working for the government.

"They had three informants in this case that were looking for people to get in trouble," Nubani told reports on Tuesday, following the preliminary court hearing.
Nah, they only do that to Republican pols...
He also suggested that the federal law enforcement takes such measures to pretend that it is fighting terrorism.

"They create cases, and then they prevent them from happening," Nubani said.

One of the three informants, identified as CHS#3, was said to have been a convicted felon who received clemency in exchange for cooperation.

CHS#1 was disguised as an "ISIL controller" and CHS#2 a trusted "brother" in the Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terror group.

According to Nuban, Elhassan comes from a "regular family," but was arrested because "some people are Islamophobic, and they're whipping up fear against Muslims."

Elhassan, who has Sudani origins, was detained after driving 28-year-old Joseph Hassan Farrokh to the airport in Richmond, Virginia. According to a Saturday statement by the US Department of Justice, Farrokh's final destination was Syria, where he intended to join the Takfiri group.

India-Pakistan
Attack on Pakistan: PM
[DAWN] Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and army chief Gen Raheel Sharif vowed on Wednesday to continue efforts to wipe out terrorism and extremism and said that the nation’s determination to counter the menace had not been affected by the strike in Charsadda.

“The prime minister and the chief of army staff agreed that the war against terrorism and extremism will continue with full might,” said a statement issued by the premier’s office after Mr Sharif talked to the army chief from Zurich on phone to discuss the Bacha Khan University attack.

Mr Sharif and Gen Raheel resolved that the fight against militancy, which enjoyed support of the nation, would be taken to its logical end of elimination of terrorism.

The prime minister directed security agencies to go after the patrons, financiers, handlers and planners of the attack.

Mr Sharif, in a conversation with Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali, said the university assault was an attack on Pakistan and “will see a ruthless response by the state”.

The prime minister said the terrorists and their financiers “will see our national resolve to eliminate terror”.

Breakthroughs made in identifying Bacha Khan University attackers: DG ISPR
[DAWN] ter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Asim Bajwa on Wednesday said major breakthroughs had been made in identifying the gunnies who attacked the Bacha Khan University in Charsadda earlier in the day.

The ISPR chief said the terrorists' phone calls had been traced and analysed, and that two cell phones had also been recovered from them.

"When army reached the premises, all four attackers were alive. They were contained in the hostel and were eventually eliminated on the roof and the stairs," informed the ISPR chief. They had a lot of ammo, including grenades, he added.

"Their call logs were analysed and an intelligence picture was established, with most data having been collected," said Lt Gen Bajwa.

Bajwa also said forensics and fingerprints of the attackers had been shared with the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra), adding that "an intelligence picture is also being created with input from Nadra."

"We have gathered almost all relevant data on who they (attackers) were, from where they came and who supported them."

But the ISPR chief said the information is "sensitive" and is being "processed and updated," which will be shared with the public later.

"We cleared the sanctuaries of gunnies after which certain people crossed the border towards Afghanistan and are operating from there. That aspect is also under investigation," he maintained.

Bajwa said gunnies were getting instructions from outside and were receiving calls.

"They (terrorists) are targeting symbols of progress. We are fighting a war against faceless bastards (terrorists)."

The ISPR chief said, "As long as the controllers and financiers of gunnies are present, they can carry out an attack at any place and time. What matters is how we respond to this as a nation."

Intelligence-based operations (IBOs) are being carried out to hunt down the controllers of the gunnies involved in Charsadda attack, he said.

Earlier in the day, unidentified gunnies entered Bacha Khan University in Khyber Pakhtunkha's Charsadda town and opened fire on students and faculty members as they gathered for a poetry recital to commemorate the death anniversary of the activist and leader Bacha Khan.

The report said that two out of the four attackers were less than 18 years of age. The interior ministry then directed Nadra to share the findings with intelligence agencies.

India Plans Laser Fences along Pakistan Border
[AnNahar] India plans to put up laser fences along "vulnerable" stretches of its border with arch rival Pakistain after a deadly attack on one of its air force bases, a home ministry official said Tuesday.

New Delhi blames gunnies belonging to a Pakistain-based murderous Moslem group for the audacious attack on the base in Punjab

"We will soon use laser wall technology developed by India's Border Security Force to plug all riverine and other unfenced vulnerable stretches along the Pakistain border in Punjab," a bigwig, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Agence La Belle France Presse.

A laser beam over a river sets off a loud siren when someone passes through it, the Press Trust of India reported this week.

Laser fences have already been tested along stretches of the border in the disputed Kashmire region, an unnamed security official told AFP on Tuesday.

India and Pakistain, which have fought two wars over Kashmire, last week postponed talks after the fatal January 2 attack on the Pathankot air base.

The assault came just days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the first Indian leader to visit Pakistain in 11 years, raising hopes of a softening in relations between the nuclear-armed neighbours.

The murderous Moslem group Jaish-e-Mohammed blamed for the base assault staged a 2001 assault on the Indian parliament which brought the two countries to the brink of war.

UK doctors call for Israel's removal from World Medical Association
[Iran Press TV] British doctors have called for the removal of Israel from the World Medical Association (WMA) over claims of "medical torture" on Paleostinians seeking treatment.

Some 71 UK doctors have started to pressure the WMA to revoke the membership of the Israel Medical Association over claims that "our doctors perform medical torture on Paleostinian patients," said Ze'ev Feldman, the representative of the Israeli doctors, during a Knesset meeting held on the subject of boycotts against Israeli academic institutions on Wednesday.

If the British physicians succeed, the Tel Aviv regime will be banned from taking part in international medical conferences and publishing in journals.

The move follows similar measures launched by scholars around the world over the past few months.

In December, over 200 South African scholars released a statement announcing their support of an academic boycott of Israel.

Iraq
ISIS bring reinforcements to Hawija for expected assault on Peshmerga
[Rudaw] A Peshmerga official says ISIS has brought in forces from djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
to its occupied districts of Hawija, Riaz and Rashad in southern Kirkuk as reinforcements.

"ISIS has brought in forces from Mosul to Hawija in order to make advances into Peshmerga positions," said Brig. Mohammed Regr, commander of the Kirkuk Peshmerga forces.

He is certain the Peshmerga are "familiar with ISIS tactics," that is why they "do not care about ISIS reinforcing its murderous Moslems. "Let them come, we will welcome them," he said.

Regr said his forces will prevail against any assault ISIS might launch, warning they will not "miss any snuffies during the battles, they will all end up dying."

The Peshmerga have obtained early information that ISIS reinforcements are there for an onslaught on Peshmerga positions on fronts in southern Kirkuk.

"We will not let ISIS avenge its defeats in Shingal by targeting the Peshmerga in Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
¨ Regr warned.

In the meantime, Sheikh Jaafar Mustafa, commander of the Peshmerga ministry's Seventy Unit Forces, explained that, "after they (ISIS) were defeated in Ramadi, they are suffering a trauma. Therefore, they are freshly plotting to attack the Peshmerga through bringing new forces to Hawija, Rashad and Riaz."

Mustafa is sure that the Peshmerga will foil ISIS attempts and "defeat them."

ISIS reinforcing its forces in Hawija coincides with an anticipated Peshmerga battle against the Death Eater group in the district, as Kurdish officials have warned that the presence of ISIS in the region will pose a serious threat on Kirkuk city.

The distance between Peshmerga watching posts and ISIS snuffies in Hawija is about 15 kilometers.

ISIS attacks can easily be defeated, since the Peshmerga have fenced their frontlines southern Kirkuk with security trenches and fortified their bunkers.

Daesh razes to ground Iraq's oldest Christian monastery
[Iran Press TV] The Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
Daesh [Islamic State] holy warriors have destroyed the oldest Christian monastery in Iraq as they continue with their demolition campaign against historical and religious sites in the areas under their control.

Satellite images released by the News Agency that Dare Not be Named on Wednesday showed a pile of rubble at the location of St. Elijah's Monastery, situated south of the city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
in northern Iraq.

The monastery, which had survived for more than 1,400 years, is believed to have been damaged at some point in 2014, after Daesh [Islamic State] took control of the area in June that year.

The partially restored 27,000-square-foot stone and mortar building had 26 distinct rooms although its roof was largely missing.

However,
women are made to be loved, not understood...
latest images show the stone walls "have been literally pulverized", said imagery analyst Stephen Wood, adding, "Bulldozers, heavy equipment, sledgehammers, possibly explosives turned those stone walls into this field of gray-white dust. They destroyed it completely."

Iraq-based Catholic priest Reverend Paul Thabit Habib, also expressed shock at the images, saying, "Our Christian history in Mosul is being barbarically leveled."

Iraq's Kurdistan rejects Amnesty report on mass destruction of villages
[Iran Press TV] The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has strongly rejected a new report by the Amnesia Amnesty International that Iraq's Kurdish Peshmerga forces have intentionally razed thousands of Arab houses in areas under their control in the country's north.

"When Peshmerga forces attacked Daesh [Islamic State]-held Arab villages to liberate them, the residents of those villages, along with Daesh [Islamic State] terrorists, confronted Peshmerga fighters and fought back," said the head of the KRG Committee to Respond to International Reports, the Arabic-language al-Maalomah online newspaper reported. He added that a number of villagers and Peshmerga fighters were killed in the festivities, and some houses were also destroyed.

Dindar Zebari also said that the Arclight airstrikes carried out by the so-called US-led coalition and booby-traps planted by the Daesh [Islamic State] Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorist group in the villages account for most of the casualties and damage in the residential areas.

In a Tuesday report, the UK-based Amnesia Amnesty International said that the KRG with its Peshmerga fighters has intentionally "bulldozed, blown up and burned down" thousands of houses belonging to Arab communities in northern Iraq in an attempt to "uproot" their existence in Kurdish-held territories.

The report further said that KRG forces also barred "tens of thousands" of Arab civilians, who had fled from Daesh [Islamic State], from returning to recaptured areas, adding that forced displacement and deliberate destruction of property without justification, which occurred during the last two years, "may amount to war crimes."

In the past few weeks, Pro-Palestinian activists have been waging an international campaign for the release of Ahmad Manasrah, a 13-year-old Palestinian boy who stabbed two Israelis in a Jerusalem suburb in October.

Manasrah carried out the stabbing attack in Pisgat Ze'ev together with his cousin, severely wounding a 13-year-old Israeli boy. Israeli police shot Manasrah and his cousin in order to neutralize them, killing the latter while wounding Manasrah, who was taken to hospital.

Terror Networks
New issue of ISIS magazine Dabiq calls for war on ...Muslims
[FoxNews] The latest issue of Islamic State's online magazine targets the terror group's fellow Muslims even more than the West.

Dabiq, as the English-language publication is called, devotes a majority of the 56 pages in the latest issue to justifying the killing of Shia Muslims. In numerous articles, the magazine goes to great lengths to give a theological basis for killing members of the minority Muslim sect that controls Iran and Iraq and has been at odds with Sunni Muslims for over a millennia.

"The magazine spends so much time justifying the killing of innocent Shiites that it suggests that ISIL is frustrated that too few Sunnis favor sectarian massacres," Ryan Mauro, a national security analyst for the Clarion Project, said. "ISIS is making the argument because it sees a problem it needs to address."

ISIS' literary arm charges that Shia Muslims, or Shiites, qualify as apostates to the Sunni majority and therefore deserve to be killed. The radical terror group's target audience seems to be fellow Sunnis who consider Shiites to be Muslims, or at the very least, not deserving of being murdered.

"ISIL's focus on justifying killing Shiites is because it is being pressed by Shiite forces in Iraq and Syria," Mauro said. "ISIL is hoping to enlist Sunnis by framing its jihad as part of a prophetic battle where the Shiites and Jews eventually unite behind the Antichrist.

Fanning the flames of the Sunni-Shia split, which dates to shortly after the death of Mohammad, benefits ISIS by helping it recruit Sunnis, Mauro said. And the terror group's leadership appears to believe a final battle has been prophecized.

The 13th issue of Dabiq, a copy of which was provided to FoxNews.com by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), is titled "The Rafidah: From Ibn Saba' To the Dajjal." Rafidah is derogatory term for Shia Muslims that translates to "rejecters."

The spark has been lit here in Iraq, and its heat will continue to intensify -- by Allah's permission -- until it burns the Crusader armies in Dābiq," reads a quote from Abu Mus'ab az-Zarqawi, an Iraq-based Al Qaeda leader killed in 2006.

The issue also touches upon other matters, including an article on the recently killed executioner for ISIS, "Jihadi John," an article praising the widows of ISIS fighters and a piece blasting Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
But what is most clear throughout the issue is a concerted effort to wipe out the Shia population of the Middle East. At first glance, it may seem odd that ISIS is focusing its efforts against fellow Muslims and not the West, but Mauro says that it is part of a very elaborate campaign on the Islamic State's part.

"It is still important for ISIL to attack the U.S. and Europe for branding purposes," Mauro said. "It helps them make their case that they are looked favorably upon by Allah and that they are growing stronger, regardless of whatever territorial losses they suffer on the ground."

Home Front: Culture Wars
Navy Sec Fires Back At Hunter Re: Fem Integration of Marines
In what's a growing dispute between the longest-serving Navy secretary since World War I and a San Diego County congressman, tensions rose this week.
Destroy our military for Social Justice and you'll end up with blood on your hands, male and female. But that's small cost to feel morally superior and inefficient
On Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter, dispatched a letter to the Pentagon suggesting that Navy Secretary Ray Mabus should be replaced because of an apparently abrupt order he issued to the Marine Corps to merge men's and women's training.

The letter follows friction between Mabus and Marine Corps leaders over the issue of opening ground combat jobs to women. In recommending the integration last year, Mabus defied a Marine Corps study that said women got injured more often and dragged down the performance of combat teams.

"Unfortunately, the only way this relationship can be repaired, I believe, is through the leadership of a new Navy secretary -- specifically one who does not regularly make a point to undercut the Marine Corps, distract its mission and insult its leaders," Hunter wrote.

That letter was a follow-up to one from Hunter the prior week. On January 11, Hunter wrote to Defense Secretary Ashton Carter that Mabus "continues to make a compelling case for the Marine Corps to be an autonomous military department with its own civilian leadership."

Mabus, who was in Coronado on Wednesday, shot back during a question-and-answer period with reporters.

"Look, I've got that letter framed. That's one of the biggest compliments I've ever gotten," Mabus said, guffawing.
Document

Mabus stood his ground on several controversial stances he has taken during his seven-year tenure as the civilian leader of the Navy and Marine Corps.

One is the integration of women into Marine infantry, Navy SEALs and other direct-combat jobs by April.

"If you can meet the standards, why should it matter if you are male or female? Why should it matter if you are straight or gay?" Mabus told reporters.

The other issue was the secretary's push toward deploying ships and planes powered by alternative fuels, including biofuels made from mustard seed, algae or animal fat.
At "Yuge" expense. For moral superiority
Mabus was in Coronado on Wednesday to preside over the deployment of an aircraft carrier group that included some ships burning a 90-10 blend of petroleum and animal fat fuels.

The secretary's biofuels initiative became controversial when it became known that a 2011 buy of biofuel cost $15 a gallon for a 50-50 blend -- four times the price of regular Navy ship fuel.

"Every single time there were naysayers," Mabus said during a speech at the launch of his "great green fleet" Wednesday.

He was describing the Navy's long history of embracing new power sources, including oil and later nuclear energy for ships.

"They were wrong again this time."

The tenure of Mabus, a former Democratic governor of Mississippi, has included major social changes for the U.S. military -- all of which he supported.

They included the end of the "don't ask, don't tell" ban on openly gay service members.

Hunter, a Republican who served in Iraq and Afghanistan as a Marine Corps officer, has been a frequent critic.

After Mabus' "I've got that letter framed" quip on Wednesday, Hunter's chief of staff, Joe Kasper, returned fire, saying, "This is about the Marine Corps and not politics. ... What Mabus is trying to do is effectively diminish the fighting capability of Marines."
I support Hunter. Mabus is a tool whose demands should be slow-walked til adults are in power
