Obama silence on cop deaths ripped, 'I'll save you a spot'
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] President Obama's silence on a wave of recent killings of police officers is being ripped by law enforcement, with one Maryland sheriff taking to Facebook to mock that he will "save you a spot next to me!" at this week's funerals for two deputies.

"Mr. President, your silence about these events SPEAKS VOLUMES!!!! PS: I'll be standing outside in the cold next week with my deputies for the funerals of the Harford Co deputies; I'll save you a spot next to me!" Facebooked Carroll County Sheriff Jim DeWees.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Kerry Jokes About Making Another Run for President
[WEEKLYSTANDARD] Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
talked about running for president again. Though the comment appeared to be lighthearted, it comes less than a week after the once-inevitable Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as The Liberatress of Libya and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Elihu Root ...
, was trounced in the New Hampshire primary.

Kerry made the joke in Germany over the weekend, where he was speaking at the Munich Security Conference.

"Thank you, Wolfgang. Thank you very much. Well, Wolfgang, thank you for reminding me that everything I'm doing now is a last," Kerry said as he began his remarks, thanking the chairman of the conference, Wolfgang Ischinger.

"It's a little -- depending on what I decide to do, so maybe not," Kerry said, alluding to a possible run. The audience laughed.

"I am really happy to be back in Munich and I'm very happy to share thoughts with this, the 52nd edition of the Security Conference."

Iff NOT, + Sanders still prevails, then the DemoLeft has a D-E-E-LEMMMA.

For amusement, read the Drudge article today on one of Bill's Arkansas cuties and her comments about Hill's sex preference he shared. Then relook Huma's location in innumerable photo's and see the proximity.....just sayin!

#5  What's with the media outrage? A guy took a government loan, made no attempt to pay it back for 29 friggin' years, and the government finally sends some muscle to collect. 'Sounds fair to me. Try ignoring repayment of a loan from "Vito" down at the union hall for 29 years - and let us know how your kneecaps are healing up.

The entire loan issue is a two sided monster - the government did in fact inflate a huge bubble, and exploit the ignorance of a lot of fools who can see no father than "Gee, this looks like free money". But - there are also legions of former students who have made good, and yet have made no effort whatsoever to pay back their loans - based on a perception of "entitlement". Well, I have no problem with them doing timer in a federal pen somewhere, to reeducate them about the truth in regards to entitlement - that being juts s progressive fiction.

2016 Harry Reid allies to Team Clinton: Don't slam Nevada's caucus
[POLITICO] With five days to go until the Nevada caucuses -- once viewed as Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as America's Blond Eminence and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Elihu Root ...
's Western firewall -- Sen. Harry Reid
... the charismatic senator-for-life from Nevada, currently majority leader ...
and his allies are incensed at the maimed Democratic front-runner.
It's way too white, y'understand. They don't want it anyway. Uck. Yucky..
The campaign's recent assertion that Nevada is "still a state that is 80 percent white voters" -- in other words, a state that looks a lot like Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords...
' base -- is simply wrong, Reid allies claim. But more galling than that, they say, it undermines the entire rationale for the caucuses' existence: The state was pushed to the front of the election calendar eight years ago solely because Reid lobbied for better demographic representation than the overwhelmingly white early-voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire.

"Harry Reid pushed hard to move Nevada near the front of the primary calendar precisely because of its diversity," a source close to the Senate minority leader said last week after the Clinton team pushed the "white Nevada" narrative in a series of conferences calls to donors and politicians on the Hill, as well as in television interviews (Clinton operatives have since appeared to back off that argument).

Trump walks back attack on George Bush
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Donald Trump sought Sunday to walk back his statements during Saturday night's Republican debate that former President George W. Bush bore responsibility for the Sept. 11 terror attack.

"I am not blaming him," Trump said on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday.

Trump continued to imply Bush erred, however. "The CIA said there was a lot of information that something like that was going to happen," he said. The attacks killed just under 3,000 Americans.

During Saturday night's debate, Trump told former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush: "The World Trade Center came down during your brother's reign, remember that."

#2  How did that kinder gentler war work out George?

George is a decent human being. Probably not the type to wage a Jacksonian War. A lot of Americans are tired of expending resources and lives only to see it squandered away by the oligarchy (aka ruling class). They get upset looking back and see the times when you had the opportunity to go full bore and all that investment that was made only to be left a crap sandwich. Then words fail them to express themselves in a manner that something lacks sense to others.
Posted by: Procopius2k || 02/16/2016 9:08 Comments || Top||

#3  BTW, you think it will be hard to find books/articles expressing the position the FDR knew prior about the Pearl Harbor attack and did nothing about it wanting the US to get into the war? Never happened, nada, nothing. File under frustration.

#4  IIRC, and correct me if I'm wrong, it was political correctness that kept security personnel at Logan Airport from detaining and interrogating the 9/11 terrorists. Those guys were obviously jacked up about something, all of them with one way tickets and jabbering in Arabic. Hinky to say the least. We don't need people like that in our country now and we didn't need them then. If the CIA didn't tell W to look for that profile they weren't doing their jobs and he wasn't either.

#5  Last time I flew with my wife I had to watch the TSA guys feeling her up. Pissed me off. I have a clue for you: middle aged blond ladies do not commit acts of terrorism. We have the tools to identify who the potential terrorists are. Use them, dammit.

#6  Trump has come out as a vaccine conspiracy nut, he was one of the first birthers, now he's making Sept 11 conspiracy noises. Someone should ask him who killed Kennedy.

Unfortunately the answer would probably drive up his poll numbers.
Posted by: rjschwarz || 02/16/2016 12:58 Comments || Top||

#7  9/11 was not a conspiracy. It was a failure.

Now, who had the most to gain from Kennedy's death?

If you were a homicide investigator, wouldn't you ask that question?
Posted by: Ebbang Uluque6305 || 02/16/2016 13:04 Comments || Top||

#8  "I am not blaming him", Trump said...

Really? You gotta be fuckin' kidding me. That's exactly what he meant. Yet all the Trump rubes either give him a pass or, more likely, agree with him. His statements regarding 9/11 and President Bush "lied" about Iraqi WMD confirm a couple of things. First, Trump not only makes foolish comments on occassion but he himself to some degree is a fool. Second, most of his supporters are comprised of simpletons and hanger-on types.

#10  Call me a simpleton if you want. I've been called worse. But if there is another Bush vs. Clinton election I plan to vote for whatever third party strikes my fancy. The Bushes and the Clintons have done enough damage to this country.

#11  Whatever EU6305. One thing is for sure. If it ends up the two viable candidates are both running on "Bush lied people died" there's gonna be be a whole lot of people sitting this one out.
Posted by: DepotGuy || 02/16/2016 15:40 Comments || Top||

#12  "Now, who had the most to gain from Kennedy's death?"

Lots of people might want someone dead, they might become extremely rich or powerful when that death happens, and still have nothing to do with the crime. Besides that, few Presidential assassins seem to have solid motives.
Posted by: rjschwarz || 02/16/2016 15:44 Comments || Top||

#13  I wanted to believe in the Iraq war. Back then I did believe in it. It's easy to criticize in hindsight. But we gained nothing from that war. Even if Iraq hadn't fallen apart, we won nothing. And by now we've all seen enough to know that when you depose bad guys like Saddam you create a vacuum that gets filled by the likes of ISIS. How many more wars do we have to fight over there and what will it cost? Why can't we just leave them to figure it out for themselves?

And then put Iraq aside. What about illegal immigration and the mortgage meltdown? What about all of our jobs going to China and Mexico? It's the same thing whether we have Clinton or Bush. They're like two sides of the same bad penny that keeps coming back to us. No more Roosevelts. No more Clintons. No more Bushes. So who is left? Carson or Cruz? Kasich? Rubio? Sanders?

Trump started right out saying build a wall and keep Muslims out of here. He says we lose in our trade deals with China and Mexico. Call me racist and foolish all you want but tell me why nobody else will even talk about the biggest problems we have.
Posted by: Ebbang Uluque6305 || 02/16/2016 16:09 Comments || Top||

#14  And then put Iraq aside.

EU6305, I don't want this to be a pissing match so let me just say you proved my point. You wrote a paragraph about the execution and outcome of the Iraq war - BTW most of which I agree with. And then completly dismissed Trumps recent comments. Only to champion his positions on other issues. Maybe you agree with Trump that Bush is to blame for 9/11. Perhaps you also agree he knowingly lied about the existence of WMD. Maybe you have no opinion on either? Just know there's alot of people, including myself, who will never vote for someone who uses the same talking points as Code Pink.
Posted by: DepotGuy || 02/16/2016 16:44 Comments || Top||

#15  It is hard to judge Iraq when all the gains were thrown away by a pull-out (despite pleas from experts) because Obama had made a campaign promise and felt all was stable.

One thing we did learn is that Islam is not compatible with democracy*. Knowing that leaves me feeling guilt-free when it comes to refugees and all the other things going on in the Middle East. They had a chance, we paid for that chance in blood, but the Muslims would rather kill.

* Which makes me wonder why the US destabilized and attempted to push democracy in Egypt, Libya and Syria.

#16  * Which makes me wonder why the US destabilized and attempted to push democracy in Egypt, Libya and Syria.

Because the man in charge has an ego problem and wanted to best the man in charge prior to him. "Mine is bigger than yours" infantile narcissism operating from dogma and academic ignorance of how the world really works.

#17  P2k, he also wanted his MoBro homies to get to the top.
Posted by: AlanC || 02/16/2016 17:44 Comments || Top||

#18  DepotGuy, like I said, I believed it at the time. I wanted to believe George Bush. And in my ignorance, I wanted to believe that democracy might work in Iraq. I think we all know better now. I don't know about the weapons. Sharon said they went to Syria and he was probably as credible as anybody. But the fact is they were never found and all the blood and treasure we lost in the nation building effort was wasted. We can only speculate what that part of the world would be like now if we had stayed out of it but it sure is a mess now. And you can blame Obama if you want. There is a certain validity to that. But Bush left our country in a shambles in 2008 and that paved the way for Obama's election. There were people who knew the situation created by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was dangerous. IMHO that was a far greater danger to us than Saddam ever was.

As for 9/11 I think Bush was sucked in by the same political correctness that still suckers a lot of people today. Those guys should have never been let into the country and Trump is the only one who says he would keep them out of here now. Trump is not beholden to the House of Saud.

Loretta Lynch 'Most Likely Candidate' to Replace Scalia
[NBCNEWS] A leading Supreme Court analyst thinks Attorney General Loretta Lynch is the "most likely candidate" to replace the late conservative Justice Antonin Scalia.

Tom Goldstein, who runs the influential SCOTUSblog, had earlier predicted Ninth Circuit Judge Paul Watford would make the top of President B.O.'s shortlist. But in a revised blog post, Goldstein said he now believes Lynch is the leading contender.

Lynch is a "very serious possibility," Goldstein wrote. "The fact that Lynch was vetted so recently for attorney general also makes it practical for the president to nominate her in relatively short order."
