Abdullah: No compromise on women’s rights in peace process with Taliban
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah
... the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against Karzai. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun...
promised that the government will not comprise on women’s rights as efforts are underway to revive peace talks with the anti-government armed bully boy groups.

In his speech during an event to mark the International Women’s Day, Abdullah said as the government is preparing for peace there will not be any compromise on women’s rights and their achievements.

Insisting that the women’s rights is not a gift, Abdullah said the Afghan women have suffered the most from the war in the country and the government’s ongoing efforts for grinding of the peace processor are aimed at providing a peaceful environment both for men and women of the country.

Abdullah further added that the Afghan women can freely raise their voices now which were once silenced and had no right to share their opinion, calling the change a big achievement since the fall of the Taliban regime.

The remarks by Abdullah comes as the Afghan government is expecting to meet the Taliban representatives during a direct face to face meeting to discuss the grinding of the peace processor.

Pakistain has offered to host the first round of direct talks between the Afghan government and Taliban representatives following the conclusion of the fourth round of Quadrilateral Coordination Group (QCG) meeting late last month.

The Afghan women suffered the most during the Taliban regime as the group implemented strict law in the country, preventing the women to participate in social affairs, even barring the girls and women of the country to have access to the educational institutions.

Abdullah dismisses speculations about planned hand over of districts to militants
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah
... the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against Karzai. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun...
dismissed speculations about the planned hand over of certain districts to the anti-government armed turban groups.

Speaking during a joint session of the Afghan parliament and cabinet of ministers, Abdullah said the speculations have been rife since the security institutions have started shifting certain security posts to the central bases in some provinces.

The session was also attended by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
, members of the parliament and cabinet ministers.

Abdullah further added that the retreat of the security posts are being done based on a decision made during the national security council meeting, where it was it was decided that the security posts would not be able to defend the bandidos holy warriors attacks.

He said the retreat will help to defend the central bases, district government compounds and main military bases.

Abdullah also expressed concern
...meaning the brow was mildly wrinkled, the eyebrows drawn slightly together, and a thoughtful expression assumed, not that anything was actually done or indeed that any thought was actually expended...
s regarding the inappropriate reflection of certain affairs in media which the anti-government armed bandidos holy warriors are using in their favor, citing the lack of coordination and lack of information certain ministers and the parliament members are having.

This comes as serious disagreements were reported between the Afghan government and Afghan parliament during the current Afghan year.

The differences led to the rejection of certain legislative decrees issued by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani which reportedly had links with the ongoing differences between the government and parliament members.

Russia agrees to turn debts payable by Afghanistan into non-refundable grants
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Russia has agreed to turn a long-standing debt payable by Afghanistan into a non-refundable aid, the Afghan finance officials said Thursday.

Finance Minister Eklil Ahmadi Hakimi welcomed and hailed Moscow’s commitment to strenghten and expand trade, economic and social relations between the two nations.

Mr. Hakimi further added that postive developments have been made to resolve the oustanding debts payable to Russia as Moscow has agreed to turn the outstanding payments into non-refundable grants.

He did not disclose further information regarding the exact amount of the debts the Afghan government is obliged to pay.

The Minister of Finance was speaking following the conclusion of the third join session between Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
and Moscow which mainly focused on economic cooperation between the two nations.

He said the negotiations from the Afghanistan perspective mainly focused on resumption of activities by Russian companies in the country, mainly the housing industry, cosidering the expertise of the Russian companies that could play a vital role in improving the economy of the country.

Meanwhile,
...back at the saw mill, Scarface Al had tied Little Nell to the log and was about to turn on the buzz saw...
Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Yuri Senturin, said Russia remains committed to Afghanistan’s development and called the joint session an important step in this regard.

Algeria Dissociates Itself from Decision of Blacklisting Hezbollah
[ALMANAR.LB] Algeria Foreign Minister Ramtan Lamara revealed that his country has officially dissociated itself from the Gulf countries decision that labeled on Wednesday Hezbollah as a terrorist group.

According to Algeria media outlets, Lamara said that Hezbollah is a political movement that operates in Leb in accordance with the local laws, adding that Algeria will never interfere in the domestic issues of the Arab countries.
Except for Spanish Morocco...
The Tunisia Foreign Ministry called on reversing the decision which blacklisted Hezbollah as the social media websites reflected the locals' condemnation for the resolution.

Tunisia Foreign Minister announced that the approval of the country's Interior Minister on the decision to blacklist Hezbollah tried to match the Arab consensus

He also noted that the such decisions are taken on the basis of consultations among the President, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister, not the Interior Minister, stressing the strength of the relations that link Tunisia with Iran and Leb.

Earlier on Wednesday, GGCC issued ia statement in which it blacklisted Hezbollah as a "terrorist group."

Later on, interior ministers from several Arab countries took the same stance, denouncing the "practices of terrorist Hezbollah," during the 33rd session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers in the Tunisian capital.

Arabia
Over 85 percent of Yemen liberated
Riyadh — Yemen’s national army and popular resistance forces have liberated more than 85 percent of the Yemeni territories from Houthi militia control and the forces of the ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh, Yemeni President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi said in an exclusive interview with the Saudi Gazette and Okaz newspapers.

Hadi also admitted during the exclusive interview with the Saudi newspapers that Yemen would have fallen in four days and would have been an Iranian state had it not been for the Operation Decisive Storm launched by the Arab military coalition under the leadership of Saudi Arabia.

The president expressed confidence that Sanaa, which was taken by the Houthis, would be freed after the liberation of both Taiz and Hudaidah.

Hadi described his relationship with Saudi King Salman as sublime, close and strong and said Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, minister of defense, is providing them with all the necessary facilities and support.
Hadi still hasn't said what he's giving the Saudis in return...
He added there are a number of Iranians and elements of Hezbollah in Yemen providing military training to the Houthis militias.

During the interview, Hadi also revealed that Iranians came to Yemen to build a factory for the manufacture of Grad missiles for the rebels. “The factory’s components were shipped in a container among children’s toys. We discovered from the documents that it was on its way to Saadah, the stronghold of the Houthis,” he said.

The Yemeni president also put aside rumors by denying reports of a serious rifts with his deputy and prime minister Khaled Bahah and said there might be some differences in viewpoints. “The circumstances require that we remain together,” he said.

Tehran Sent Hezbollah Instructors to Drill Houthi Insurgents
Teaching the fine art of shoulder to shoulder advances into enemy machine gun fire, I s'pect...
And doing so with teen-aged boys...
Jeddah- Yemen is no different than other Arab countries, as for four years Yemen has experienced Iranian intervention in form of funds and artillery. Tehran has hinged on proxies throughout the region to put on a center role in the Yemeni insurgency, in which Iranian proxies direct militant boot camps, missile and explosive manufacture.

Hezbollah has been Tehran’s top choice for the accomplishment of its agenda since 2011. At the time, the Arab region wholly underwent a critical stage of embattlement and intrusion, which facilitated Hezbollah’s access to the Somali Peninsula and later to the center of Sana’a. Proxies left unmonitored mobilized easily, given that during that period they were not classified as terrorist organizations.

Agents departed from Dahieh, predominant Shi’ite suburb south of Beirut, Lebanon. Before launching the mission, Hezbollah leadership presented all what they have received from Tehran to a carefully selected set of proxies from the Houthi militia known by “Ansar Allah”. Houthis benefited from Iranian donations and provided a suitable foundation to extract trained militants capable of manufacturing explosives and exploiting weaponry. The setup all was precedent to the official declaration of the Houthi insurgency in 2015.

Houthis dominating vast landscape, assets and cities especially in Tihamah gave Hezbollah a main route access to the Red Sea. Hezbollah planned to impose a novel reality for the Middle East.

Houthis having control over coastal areas gave access to several Hezbollah units which later dispatched for directorates and capital outlying towns where they directed training centers for militants.

It wasn’t until 2015 that, according to military sources, Hezbollah’s extent of involvement was clear. The latter has saved up no effort on providing the insurgents with all of financial support, logistics, military training and means for synthesizing explosives to the point of specialized independency.

Military experts all agreed that militias displaying up-to-date military techniques could not have appeared out of thin air. With acquired documentation, it is no longer a far-off assumption that side-by-side ousted President Ali Abdallah Saleh supporters and Houthi militias have been recruited firsthand by Hezbollah agents who were wired to Iranian conduct.

Britain
London mayor reacts to French threats over 'Brexit': 'Donnez-moi un break'
[LATIMES] The migrant crisis became a critical bargaining chip in the debate over Britannia’s future membership of the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
on Thursday, with La Belle France warning that a "Brexit" could bring immigration chaos to its neighbor’s shores.

French President Francois Hollande
...the Socialist president of La Belle France, an economic bad joke for la Belle France but seemingly a foreign policy realist...
stated bluntly that there would be serious "consequences" for Britannia if the public votes in favor of leaving the 28-member bloc in a June referendum.

Earlier in the day, French economy minister Emmanuel Macron went even further by saying a vote to leave the EU could mean La Belle France no longer allows British border police to operate in the port city of Calais.

His comments stoked fears that this could potentially pave the way for thousands of migrants colonists to arrive unimpeded on British shores.

"The day this relationship unravels, migrants colonists will no longer be in Calais," Macron was quoted saying in the Financial Times newspaper.

Downing Street officials said they had no prior knowledge of Macron’s speech, but the statement fell on deaf ears to "exit" campaigners and the words "stitch up" and "scaremongering" were quickly banded around.

#1  A "Brexit" would cancel the EU treaty that forces Great Britain to obey edicts from Brussels that set up this stupid situation in the first place. British law, and British immigration rules, would then apply on the British side of the Chunnel: Everyone walking into Britain would have to show papers, put into a camp if they don't have any, and then put on a boat back to Syria.

N. Korea Fires Six Projectiles in Spite of UN Tough Sanctions
[ALMANAR.LB] North Korea fired six short-range projectiles into the sea Thursday in a show of defiance just hours after the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
adopted the toughest sanctions to date on Pyongyang over its fourth nuclear test and rocket launch.

Limited displays of military firepower have become a routine response by North Korea to international pressure over anything from its nuclear weapons program to its human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
record.

South Korea's defense ministry said the six projectiles - either rockets or guided missiles - fell into the sea around 100-150 kilometers (60-90 miles) off the North's eastern coast.

The launches came after the UN Security Council unanimously passed a resolution late Wednesday imposing new sanctions after seven weeks of arduous negotiations between the United States and China, Pyongyang's sole major ally.

The sanctions break new ground, requiring all countries to inspect cargo destined for and coming from North Korea, in all airports and sea ports.

They also ban or restrict exports of coal, iron and iron ore and other minerals from North Korea, and prohibit the supply of aviation fuel including rocket fuel.

Russia Urges N.Korea to Draw ’Right Conclusions’ from UN sanctions
[ALMANAR.LB] Russia expressed hope Thursday that North Korea would "draw the right conclusions" and resume talks after the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
adopted the toughest sanctions to date on Pyongyang over its fourth nuclear test and rocket launch.

"We are hoping that the North Korean side will take this decision in an adequate manner, draw the right conclusions and return to the negotiating table to settle the nuclear problem on the Korean peninsula," the foreign ministry said.

The UN Security Council measures adopted on Wednesday were the product of seven weeks of arduous negotiations between Washington and Beijing, Pyongyang's sole ally and main provider of trade and aid.

Russia -- which enjoys friendly ties with the communist regime -- said the new resolution was "rather tough" but added world powers had no other choice.

"For the past 10 years North Korea has defiantly ignored Security Council demands," the foreign ministry said, adding that the global community could not accept "irresponsible 'games' with missile-borne nuclear weapons."

But Russia also expressed hope that the new resolution would not be interpreted as an excuse to worsen the plight of North Koreans, when it came to the economic and humanitarian situation in the country.

Moscow reiterated its warning to Washington not to deploy a missile defense system to South Korea that could "escalate tensions" in the region.

Hours after the United Nations adopted the sanctions North Korea fired six short-range projectiles into the sea in a new show of defiance.

The latest resolution ushered in the fifth set of UN sanctions on North Korea since it first tested an atomic device in 2006.

North Korea leader tells military to be ready to use nuclear weapons at any time
[REUTERS] North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
ordered his country to be ready to use its nuclear weapons at any time and to turn its military posture to "pre-emptive attack" mode in the face of growing threats from its enemies, state media said on Friday.
One of these days this cackler is gonna give the order because he believes his own propaganda. We really should preemptively turn the place into a scene of fire.
Better to make a deal with China, the ROK, Russia and Japan to divide Nork-land into a province of China (the north part) and a trust territory of the U.N. administered by the ROK (the southern part). The U.S. provides some aid and stays out of the north, China provides some aid and stays out of the south, and Russia behaves (for once). Pudgy and all his evil henchmen, of course, are shot on site.
...and on sight, too.
The comments, carried by the North's official KCNA news agency, marked a further escalation of tension on the Korean peninsula after the U.N. Security Council on Wednesday imposed harsh new sanctions against the isolated state for its nuclear program.

Kim made the comments as he supervised military exercises involving newly developed rocket launchers, KCNA reported. It did not mention the date of the drills but said the new weapons had South Korea within range.

South Korea's defense ministry said on Thursday North Korea launched several projectiles off its coast into the sea up to 150 kilometers (90 miles) away, an apparent response to the U.N. sanctions.

Kim said North Korea should "bolster up (its) nuclear force both in quality and quantity" and stressed "the need to get the nuclear warheads deployed for national defense always on standby so as to be fired any moment," KCNA quoted him as saying.

"Now is the time for us to convert our mode of military counteraction toward the enemies into an preemptive attack one in every aspect."

#8  I'm more inclined to think "China-ordered, NOKOR-fired".

Keeping the "status quo" on the Korean Peninsula = China's already excessive percentage share = domination of NOKOR trade will likely only increase to near 100.0% in due time, not less. COUNTING THE CIRCA 80,000-100,000 PLA TROOPS THAT ARE ALREADY BASED IN NOKOR MAINLY TO PROTECT THE KIM REGIME FROM ORDINARY NORTH KOREANS, IOW BEIJING DOSN'T REALLY HAVE TO FIGHT A WAR WID THE US-ALLIES TO TAKE OVER NOKOR.

And despite any risk that Pudgy = KJU may do something to unilaterally or asymetrically start a major US-China war to prevent NOKOR from being taken over or annexed by China, SOKOR will broadly or subjectively support Pudgy in his effort to force NOKOR-SOKOR reunification as this may be the only or last chance for de facto Inter-Korean reunification before NOKOR is forever lost to China.

Diplomacy fail: State staffed Syria hotline with non-Arabic speakers
[WashingtonExaminer] The State Department admitted Wednesday that it used department volunteers with limited Arabic language abilities to staff a hotline it set up to take calls about ongoing violence in Syria.

That move led to confusion this week as people who speak Arabic, which is Syria's official language, tried to call with information about violations of the Syria cease-fire, only to get hung up by volunteers who didn't have a perfect understanding of the language."

Protection of Women against Violence Act.

JUI-F provincial executive council, which met here on Wednesday, decided that it would allow the provincial government to introduce any bill in the assembly regarding women rights which was repugnant to Sharia.

A statement said that JUI-F provincial chief Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan chaired the meeting. The council strongly condemned Punjab Protection of Women against Violence and alleged that such laws were aimed at promoting western culture and indecency in the society.

The council said that Pakistain was being made a secular state and some elements were trying to destroy family system. The statement said that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government had abandoned health and education sectors and handed them over to NGOs.

It said that Kalashnikov culture was promoted in the name of security in educational institutions as government allowed students and teachers to carry weapons for self protection.

Pakistan pledges to work for easing tension in South Asia
[DAWN] Pakistain remains committed to lessening the risk of an armed conflict in South Asia, says a joint statement issued after the US-Pakistain Strategic Dialogue.
They did that by digging a tunnel under the Line of Control, from the Pak side to the Indian.
The document also underlines Washington’s recognition of Kashmire as a dispute that needs to be resolved peacefully.

"Pakistain affirmed that it remains committed to pursuing measures aimed at building confidence and lessening the risk of armed conflict," said the statement issued on Tuesday evening, a day after the talks concluded.

"The United States and Pakistain emphasised the importance of meaningful dialogue in support of peaceful resolution of outstanding issues, including Kashmire," it added.

The chapter on "fostering strategic stability" deals with preventing the proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) and their means of delivery to states as well as non-state actors.

It rebinds Pakistain to United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
Security Council Resolution 1540, which requires all member states to enforce appropriate and effective measures against proliferation.

In the joint statement, the US acknowledged Pakistain’s ongoing efforts to harmonise its strategic trade controls with those of the multilateral export control regimes.

Pope accepts invitation to visit Pakistan this year
[DAWN] Pope Francis has accepted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
’s invitation to visit Pakistain this year, according to a message received here on Wednesday from the Vatican.
Sure hope he brings his own security detail.
The invitation was extended by Ports and Shipping Minister Kamran Michael and Religious Affairs Minister Sardar Yusuf.
I'm sure the Paks will provide their usual "fool-proof" security.
The highest Catholic priest also offered special prayers for Pakistain and the Paks who have fallen victim to terrorism.
I think I'd rely on the Swiss Guards, if it was all the same.

Shia man sent to 13 years in prison over 'religiously offensive' Facebook post
[DAWN] An anti-terrorism court sentenced a man to 13 years in prison on Thursday for allegedly posting religiously offensive material on his Facebook page, lawyers in the case said.

Rizwan Haider, 25, was convicted in an ATC of three charges including promoting sectarian hatred over one of his Facebook posts.

"This case... was registered against Rizwan, who is a Shia by faith, in January for posting objectionable material against the belief of Sunnis," Adeel Chattah, public prosecutor in the case, told AFP.

He was also fined Rs0.25 million, Chattah said, adding that he denied the charges and has the right to appeal.

His lawyer dismissed the accusations.

"He only liked it and did not post it on the page," Shameem Zaidi said.

Iraq
Islamic State 'earning millions by playing the stock market'
[Telegraph] Isil is making millions of dollars for its war chest by playing foreign currency markets under the noses of bank chiefs, it was revealed today.

The terror group is earning up to $20m (ÂŁ14.29m) a month by funnelling dollars looted from banks during its takeover of the Iraqi city of Mosul into legitimate currency markets in the Middle East.

It then makes huge returns on currency speculation, which are then wired back via unsuspecting financial authorities in Iraq and Jordan, a parliamentary committee was told on Wednesday.

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant's (Isil) extraordinary venture into white collar crime is now a major source of income, along with oil smuggling and extortion from people living in Isil-controlled areas.

Bet there are more than a few of the better 'fiscal advisers' in the ME (or PAKland) who would jump at the chance to 'help' the process using their already established underground currency trading techniques (think how Baathists, AQ, Talibunnies, Hizbully, IRG etc. play the markets). They get their commissions, ISIS gets the laundered cash.

The Raqqa folk don't need to be smart about the markets, they just need smart 'friends' who are.

‘Mosul dam could fail at any time, killing 1m people’

dam 30 years ago have warned that the risk of its imminent collapse and the consequent corpse count could be even worse than reported.

They pointed out that pressure on the dam’s compromised structure was building up rapidly as winter snows melted and more water flowed into the reservoir, bringing it up to its maximum capacity, while the sluice gates normally used to relieve that pressure were jammed shut.

#9  Teton Dam Failure video Two minutes of explanation, then about 40 seconds of flooding.

At 11:55 a.m. MDT (UTC-17:55), the crest of the dam sagged and collapsed into the reservoir; two minutes later the remainder of the right-bank third of the main dam wall disintegrated. Over 2,000,000 cubic feet per second (57,000 m3/s) of sediment-filled water emptied through the breach into the remaining 6 miles (10 km) of the Teton River canyon, after which the flood spread out and shallowed on the Snake River Plain. By 8:00 p.m. that evening, the reservoir had completely emptied, although over two-thirds of the dam wall remained standing. Wikipedia

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hamas operatives fear entering tunnels, believe Israel behind collapses
Hamas operatives are afraid to enter underground tunnels in the Gaza Strip, fearing that they will collapse, The Jerusalem Post has learned from Palestinian sources.

In addition, some of the operatives digging the tunnels believe that Israel was involved in at least some of the recent tunnel collapses that claimed the lives of several Hamas men.

The most recent collapse occurred on Thursday afternoon when a tunnel collapsed in Khan Younis, killing one Hamas operative. The collapse marked the sixth such tunnel collapse in recent months - the highest number of collapses to have occurred since summer 2014's Operation Protective Edge.

Official reports, both in Israel and Gaza, describe collapses caused by recent storms and heavy rains. However, among Hamas and others, there are many who believe that Israel is responsible.

Hamas operatives have seen Israeli activities near the Gaza border fence against tunnels and fear that they are connected to the tunnel collapses. Some of the activists have even spoken of the methods which Israel is supposedly using to cause the tunnels to collapse.

One Hamas operative claimed that Israel is using liquid explosives to cause the collapses, while another operative expressed fears of Israel's ability to cause localized earthquakes which could also collapse the tunnels.

Hamas has mentioned the IDF's Yahalom elite Combat Engineering Corps unit which has special anti-tunnel measures, and the Oketz canine unit which sends trained dogs into the tunnels.

Senior Hamas officials have paid condolence calls to those killed in the tunnel collapses, but have refused to give the bereaved families further information on the incidents. According to the mother of one of the tunnel victims, Hamas would only say that the collapse was caused by the weather, but failed to elaborate and maintained secrecy.

The leadership of Hamas apparently cannot prevent the collapse of the tunnels and recently, Hamas leader in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh claimed that Israeli technology has been discovered underground.

Olde Tyme Religion
Indiana: City council passes Islamic sharia blasphemy resolution
MICHIGAN CITY -- Two councilmen stood in the way of a much-talked-about resolution receiving the full support of the Michigan City Common Council on Tuesday.

A resolution titled "Condemning Violence, Bigotry and Hateful Rhetoric Toward Muslims in the United States," passed 7-2 with councilmen Chris Schwanke and Ron Hamilton voting against it. Both said they object to the resolution because it should protect the rights of all people, regardless of their religious beliefs. "I have no problem supporting a resolution covering all religions," Hamilton said before he voted against the one on the table.

Schwanke made similar remarks before also casting his "nay" vote.

The seven other council members spoke in support of this resolution, with Councilman Al Whitlow expressing concern that a resolution condemning hate and bigotry has garnered so much discussion.

"We’re not trying to eliminate hate, although that would be wonderful," he said. "We are saying the expression of hate through violent acts is inappropriate in this country."

There are already laws against violence, so this is redundant and was pushed by Muslim supremacists to silence critics of Islam.

Councilman Don Przybylinski said, "Michigan City is a progressive, proactive community and a progressive and proactive community always supports its citizens ... In our hearts, we need to stand up for the citizens of the United States, the citizens of Michigan City and human beings in general."
Michigan City is about an hour southeast of Chicago. From there to New Buffalo, a lot of the real estate around the lake is owned by upper-middle-class folk from Chicago who spend their weekends in the country. They bring their blue beliefs with them...
This resolution was introduced last month by Councilwoman Pat Boy, but was sent to a committee meeting because concerns were raised about the exclusivity of the resolution by just protecting the religious freedom of Muslims.

That committee, made up of council members Hamilton, Candice Silvas and Bryant Dabney, voted 2-1 to support the resolution as written -- with Hamilton voting against it.

Just before the vote on Tuesday, representatives spoke in favor of the resolution, urging the council to support it, including speakers from the Human Rights Commission, the Michigan City Commission for Women, Citizens Concerned for Syrian Refuges and the La Porte County NAACP."
