Dallas-area hospice nurses told to overdose patients to speed death
[SeeBS] DALLAS-- The owner of a Dallas-area hospice ordered nurses to increase drug dosages for patients to speed their deaths and maximize profits, according to an FBI affidavit.

A copy of the affidavit for a search warrant obtained by KXAS-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth alleges Brad Harris ordered higher dosages for at least four patients at Novus Health Services in Frisco. It's unclear whether any deaths resulted from overdoses of drugs like morphine.

Harris has not been charged. The FBI on Wednesday declined to say whether an investigation is ongoing.

The warrant refers to an FBI raid on the hospice in September. It alleges Harris sent text messages to workers such as, "You need to make this patient go bye-bye." On another occasion, Harris told administrators during a lunch meeting that he wanted to "find patients who would die within 24 hours."

In at least one instance, an employee refused to follow orders to increase a dosage, the warrant said.

The document explains that federal reimbursements can diminish the longer a patient receives care. A provider eventually can be forced to return federal payments.

#1  The document explains that federal reimbursements can diminish the longer a patient receives care. A provider eventually can be forced to return federal payments.

The other dynamic at play is; the longer a patient receives care, the more care and personal attention he or she requires from staff. Unspoken 'Actuarial Life Tables' in hospices are a fact. Possibly an over-generalization, but those still able to respond to care, get care. The unresponsive, not so much.

#2  More CMS supported fraud than homicide.

Getting more juice in the kickers drives up the reimbursement for allowable treatment costs. When multi-facility providers can push their average consumption up the amount of allowable reimbursement also increases during the 3-5 year formative period for this component of the ACA model.

#5  Multiple benefits to targeting 'short-timers' for costs.
- quick insurer payout for meds
- higher reimbursement for claims
- if the charges are contested, the insurer is a litigation partner as they generally must approve the treatment
- caregivers for terminal patients are unlikely to contest painkillers or be financially responsible for the administration
- administrative direction to staff is outside the controls of AMA

Students Claim Pro-Trump White Board Message Is ‘Violence’
[BREITBART] Chaos erupted at an all-female university in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, over the weekend after a Mexican-American student woke on Saturday to a pro-Trump message written on her white board.

The message, which simply read "#Trump2016," has been called an act of "intentional violence" in a university-wide email sent by Minjoo Kim, the student body president at Scripps College in Claremont, California.

"This morning, a Mexican-American Scripps student woke up to find her whiteboard vandalized with the phrase ‘#Trump2016.’ This racist act is completely unacceptable," Kim wrote. "Regardless of your political party, this intentional violence committed directly to a student of color proves to be another testament that racism continues to be an undeniable problem and alarming threat on our campuses."

Kim claimed that the pro-Trump message violates Scripps’ goal of creating an "inclusive, safe, and welcoming community." She recommended her peers seek out university counseling services if the 10 character message threatens their "mental and emotional health."

The student on the receiving end of the hashtag vandalism took to Facebook where she claimed that her experience with the dry-erase defacement is a reminder that "racism is alive and well."

a valid point. I do not think it is funny at all. I am torn between being horrified at the waste of human life and terrified for the future of the U.S.

Unlike cambodia, however we have not yet decayed to the point where these powder puffs pose a real threat. In absolute numbers there are too few, and they are too thinly spread out.

This can change, but the rot has not gotten deep enough yet. I doubt I will live long enough for things to get that bad. I do not envy the lot of those 10-20 years younger than me, though.

#19  Klingon, I ain't, but I was curious. For the rest of you - It was formed in 1968 as an offshoot of the Vietnam People's Army from North Vietnam. It was the ruling party in Cambodia from 1975 to 1979. It allied with North Vietnam, the Viet Cong, and Pathet Lao during the Vietnam War against the anti-communist forces.

The organization is remembered especially for orchestrating the Cambodian genocide, which resulted from the enforcement of its social engineering policies. Its attempts at agricultural reform led to widespread famine, while its insistence on absolute self-sufficiency, even in the supply of medicine, led to the death of thousands from treatable diseases such as malaria. Arbitrary executions and torture carried out by its cadres against perceived subversive elements, or during purges of its own ranks between 1975 and 1978, are considered to have constituted genocide.

'Empire' Flops Overseas as Foreign Viewers Resist Hollywood's Diversity Push
[HOLLYWOODREPORTER] Driven by the ratings success of shows with mainly nonwhite casts — Empire, Black-ish and Fresh Off the Boat — along with political pressure to make shows better reflect their diverse audience, American TV outlets increasingly are greenlighting series that feature black, Asian and Latino leads. Fox's 24: Legacy, a reboot of the Kiefer Sutherland series, stars Corey Hawkins, famous as Dr. Dre from Straight Outta Compton. CBS has Rush Hour, based on the action movie franchise, starring Jon Foo and Justin Hires, and has cast Sarah Shahi, a former NFL cheerleader of Persian and Spanish ancestry, as Nancy Drew in its reboot of the lily-white mystery franchise.

"It's color-blind casting," says Sony Pictures TV casting director Dawn Steinberg. "There used to be a time when it had to be written that way to look for an actor with a specific ethnicity. Now it's just who is the best actor for the role."

But when trying to sell overseas, American shows are finding the color barrier is still there. Why? Insiders say it's because international audiences have yet to truly embrace diversity on the small screen. "These shows are a reflection of our society, but [they are] not a reflection of all societies," says Marion Edwards, president of international TV at Fox.

#14  Empire's problem, and all current American soap operas, is it is over stylized. It does not matter how good the script is or how well it is acted, if a person is not totally into the style, in this case wardrobe, it is unwatchable. Or zombies, or drugprouction

The reality shows as they call themselves are so select in the topic, that if you took the topic and add "...walk into a bar." You wonder what the punchline is. "Two naked people living in the woods walk into a bar..." "A family of midgets little people walk into a bar..."

Comedies are regional, and a lot of American comedy is topical/satire so the joke is lost.

News, they have the locals to tell them how mushrooms grow.

Sports is local.

Any takers on Legacy receiving a shitpot of awards, especially lead actor?

Dawn Steinberg is lying to your face.

Boeing says it will cut more than 4,500 jobs
[MSN] The planemaker will reduce 1,600 positions in the commercial airplanes division through voluntary layoffs, while the rest of the cuts are expected to be completed by leaving open positions unfilled, front man Doug Alder said.

"While there is no employment reduction target, the more we can control costs as a whole the less impact there will be to employment," Alder said.

The job cuts, which will include hundreds at executive and managerial positions, will not done through involuntary layoffs, Alder said.

Boeing will also cut about 10 percent of the approximately 5,700 jobs in its test and evaluation division, which conducts flight and lab tests, spokeswoman Sandra Angers told Rooters.

The company had a total of 161,400 employees as of Dec. 31.

Rooters had reported last month that Boeing was considering offering voluntary layoffs to its professional engineers and technical workers.

In February, Ray Conner, chief executive of Boeing's airplane business, warned employees that job cuts were necessary to "win in the market, fund our growth and operate as a healthy business."

#1  Rooters had reported last month that Boeing was considering offering voluntary layoffs to its professional engineers and technical workers.

Lockheed Martin doing the same thing in Atlanta. They'll soon be hiring new, younger employees at lower wages and benefits, or no benefits at all. The monthly savings will more than cover the buy-outs. The demographic metrics of professional engineers and technical workers leans heavily toward people of privilege, which is never a good thing. Temp or contract help is the new normal.

KE will carry out loadshedding this year also, SHC told
[DAWN] KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Tuesday was informed by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority that K-Electric would have no option in 2016 but to carry out loadshedding as only 350 megawatts had been added to its supply capacity instead of 1,000MW.

Headed by Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, a two-judge bench was hearing a set of constitutional petitions against the unprecedented loss of life caused by the 2015 heatwave coupled with power cuts.

In its comments, Nepra disputed the KE claim of having added 1,037MW to its system and stated that only 350MW was effectively added after decommissioning and permanent closure of certain plants.

The court was informed that the power utility was able to maintain its system in the garb of a loadshedding policy.
