At least 8 killed in second Afghanistan blast today
[NATION.PK] At least eight people were killed and 18 injured Monday morning when a cycle of violence bomb went kaboom! in a crowded market in Afghanistan’s northeastern Badakhshan province, local authorities said.

"Our initial information is eight people were martyred, and 18 others were maimed, all the victims are civilians," the Badakhshan provincial governor’s front man Naweed Froutan told AFP, adding that the corpse count is set to rise.

The district governor of Keshim, where the attack took place, gave a higher toll of at least ten killed and 30 maimed.

"It was a cycle of violence bomb kaboom inside a main market in Keshim district of Badakhshan province," Abdul Salam Paiman told AFP, adding that some of the maimed were at death's door and all had been taken to hospital.

No one has yet grabbed credit for the blast in the remote, mountainous province.

It was the second major attack to shake Afghanistan Monday. The Taliban grabbed credit for an earlier suicide kaboom in the capital Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....

Massive Cache Of Weapons Of War Found In Near German Mosque
Here's the link to the report on Mr Tipi's website. Tipi is a hessian state MP for Merkel's party.

All of this hasn't been reported in the mainstream media but this verifies that a state MP is indeed reporting this event.

Not sure if/how the application of tinfoil hats and/or grains of salt is advisable.

An arsenal of weapons of radical islamists was excavated in NRW, North Rhine Westphalia. The "Top secret assignment" took one week and brought heavy war arsenal to the surface. This is what Hessian delegate Ismail Tipi (CDU) says.

According to information of the hessian CDU delegate Ismail Tipi a "top secret assignment" of the SEK in North Rhine Westphalia took place. In the cooler room of a vegetable vendor near a mosque, weapons were found and seized. "According to my information at this particular operation, an arsenal with heavy war weaponry was found.

The danger of arming of the fundamentalists and willing to resort to violence salafists in Germany is very high. This was shown clearly by this secret operation", said Tipi on Friday at a press conference.

The Extremism expert also assumes that more weapons stocking took place in other cities. For instance the Hamburg intelligence service for constitutional protection also speaks of a heightened number of supporters of armed jihad.

#5  Interesting in translation...the 'cooler room' is a grocer's walk-in refrigerator. I have no sense for how 'massive' is used as it's root is not found in the original news brief. The room may have been big or the weapon count, many. I do not have a sense that either is accurate.

More interesting is the reporting of this as one of many suspected weapon caches across the country. Consider then that Orlando went out to buy his weapons. Either there are not domestic caches in/near FLA, they were not made available to the OP out of concern for exposure, or Orlando was not a sanctioned member of a cell and while sponsored, acted as an individual. If it can be said that there is, then this is good news.

you probably can't hide a tank or a plane in a mosque but you might hide a small RPG launcher and its projectiles or a lot of rounds of ammo or some bombs or some suicide bomb jackets

Fifth Column
Police Probe Afghan-German Airport Worker After Links To Orlando Killer Omar Mateen Uncovered
[Express.co.UK] Omar Mateen had been in touch with a Frankfurt Airport worker denied access to America earlier this year.

The 57-year-old man was from Afghanistan and reportedly wanted to visit mass murderer Omar Mateen at his home in Florida.

American immigration officials denied him the right to enter the country.
In this day and age I'm almost afraid to ask if the officials were disciplined...
Now the FBI are probing Mateen's relationship with the Afghani man after he carried out the massacre at the Pulse gay nightclub, killing 49 people and wounding 53 others.

Frankfurt Airport was the site of an Islamist terror plot in 2011 when an airport post office worker shot and killed two US airmen and wounded two others.

German officials are working with the FBI to determine if Mateen was linked to a wider Isis network of terrorists in Europe.

Hakimullah’s brother, uncle among 6 surrender
[NATION.PK] Former Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) chief Hakimullah Mehsud’s brother and uncle are among six key members of the Lion of Islam group who have surrendered to the security forces in Kurram Agency
...home of an intricately interconnected web of poverty, ignorance, and religious fanaticism, where the laws of cause and effect are assumed to be suspended, conveniently located adjacent to Tora Bora...
, officials said on Sunday.

"Ejaz Mehsud and Khair Muhammad Mehsud, uncle of Hakimullah, handed themselves to authorities late Saturday," an official said.

Both men surrendered at Lower Kurram’s Shaheedanu Dand, one of the three crossing points between Kurram and Afghanistan.

However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
the official refused to comment on whether the two men crossed into Pakistain from Afghanistan or had been hiding on the Pak side of the border. Sources further said that at least four TTP commanders also surrendered to authorities and there was a possibility that more Taliban members could surrender in a couple of days. "All the surrendered men have been shifted to security forces’ fort in Tull area," a source said.

Some sources say Hakeemullah’s relatives may have entered into Pakistain as the authorities opened the crossing with Afghanistan on Saturday after days of festivities on the Torkham border.

The group has not yet commented on the development.

Taliban faced a serious rift after the death of Hakimullah and some Taliban sources had earlier said nearly 200 had been killed in festivities between the supporters of rival commanders Sheharyar Mehsud and Khan Said alias Sajna.

Hakimullah, who was in his thirties, had been killed in a US drone strike in North Wazoo Agency in November 2013. He was buried at an unknown location a day later.

He had succeeded his mentor, Baitullah Mehsud, who was killed in a US drone strike in August 2009. Hakimullah Mehsud, the young, ferocious and vengeful chief of TTP had survived at least two US drone strikes in the past. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
on November 1, 2013, his luck ran out.

LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT) commander from North Kashmire Sogam town when he was purchasing eatables from the market.

The apprehended myrmidon commander has been identified as Abu Ukasha alias Hanzullah of Pakistain. One grenade and Rs 38,000 cash were recovered from his possession.

The myrmidon commander had infiltrated into Kashmire in November-December last year and was mostly operating form Handwara and Lolab forests. The official termed the arrest of the Pak myrmidon as a big success.

Sources said that two of his associates fled when police arrested the myrmidon commander from the market. One among them is believed to be local and another a foreigner.

Police accompanied by army later conducted an operation in Nagbal and Sheikh Nard forest area of Sogam during which a gunbattle broke out as the myrmidon fired at police and army joint party.

Security forces trapped one of Abu Ukasha’s associate, Abu Bakar who was also in the market at the time of his arrest but fled away.

The firing at Nagbal forest area continued for about an hour and it has stopped now. Security forces have cordoned whole area and they will conduct the searches in the morning. They, however, believed that the myrmidon has been killed but will only confirm when his body is recovered.

In the meantime, army and Police launched a massive operation in North Kashmire’s Bandipora district after they heard few gun shots form Sumlar forest area of the district this evening.

An army patrol had gone to the Sumlar forest area and they were fired at from a distance by myrmidons. More troops and police was rushed to the area and a massive operation has been launched in the forest area.

Security forces had launched an operation against a heavily armed 6 member myrmidon group belonging to LeT last week in Bandipora forests after the group was spotted in the area.

Army’s 14, 27 RR, 7-para commandos and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmire Police had launched a massive search operation in Chuntmulla, Kudara, Sirinder, Kutapathri and Gabipathri areas of Bandipora.

Car bomb kills at least six Jordanian border guards
[DW] An attack on the Jordan-Syria border claimed the lives of at least six Jordanian border guards and injured over a dozen others. A statement from Jordan's military Tuesday said, "At 5:30 a.m. a car bomb exploded in the Rukban district opposite the Syrian refugee camp, killing or wounding several Jordanian soldiers."

"Six soldiers have been martyred and 14 others were wounded in the terrorist attack," a Jordanian official said, calling the count a "preliminary toll."

The military said "a booby-trapped car" attacked a berm, which runs along the border. They said several other vehicles involved in the attack have been destroyed. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

The attack was reportedly launched from the Syrian side. It reportedly took place a few hundred meters from the Rukban camp for Syrian refugees, where the borders of Syria, Jordan, and Iraq meet.

Israel seizes wet suits believed to be heading to Hamas
[IsraelTimes] Scuba gear thought planned for sea-borne attack hidden in shipment of sporting goods sent by Paleostinian Authority

Israeli border agents confiscated a shipment of wet suits they suspected of being en route to Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, in the Gazoo Strip to be used for a seaborne attack on Israel, the Defense Ministry said Monday.

Bearing uncanny resemblance to an incident last year, the wet suits were hidden in a shipment of sportswear coming in to the coastal enclave from the Paleostinian Authority through the Kerem Shalom Crossing, the ministry said.

"The shipment was seized and an investigation has been opened to locate those involved," the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Wet suits require a special permit to be imported into the Gazoo Strip, lest they wind up in the hands of Hamas’s naval commando unit.

During the 2014 Gazoo war, a team of five Hamas frogmen entered Israel from the shore and approached a nearby Jewish community before they were spotted and taken out by an attack helicopter.

Last month, Israeli authorities foiled an attempt to smuggle metal pipes and motors into the Gazoo Strip, which could have been used for building rockets and tunnels, the Defense Ministry said at the time.

In that case as well, the illicit materials were "camouflaged," stuck in alongside "textiles and jewelry."

This practice of hiding illegal goods among approved products has become the go-to method for smugglers. Earlier this year, electrodes were discovered hidden in butter from a Ramallah factory.

Philippine colonel celebrating Father's Day gunned down
[Gulf Today] Motorcycle-riding gunmen shot and killed a Philippine Army colonel in front of his house while he celebrated Father's Day with his family in Zamboanga City. Police chief Luisito Magnaye identified the victim as Cristobal Julian Perez, the personnel head of the army's First Infantry Division based in the town of Lubanga, Zamboanga del Sur.

Magnaye said one of two motorcycle-riding gunmen gunned Perez down outside his house in a village in Zamboanga City late on Sunday night. He said Perez was a veteran in the anti-terror campaign that led in the killing of of Malaysian bomb expert Mohammad Najib Huesein alias Abu Sabas in Basilan in 2015. At that time, Perez was the battalion commander assigned to Basilan to rid the island province of the Abu Sayyaf and other terrorist groups.

Magnaye said that Perez went home to celebrate Father's Day with his wife and their three children on Sunday. Shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday, his wife told the police that Perez left the house after receiving a telephone call from an unidentified person. While conversing with the suspected gunman, shots suddenly rang out, based on the testimony of the victim's widow.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran 'foils plot by Sunni militants to bomb Tehran'
The authorities in Iran have thwarted a plot by Sunni militants to bomb targets in the capital Tehran and other cities, the intelligence ministry says.

The ministry said members of an "anti-Islamic terrorist takfiri group" had been arrested and explosives seized. The intelligence ministry gave no further details about the suspects.

"Takfiri" is a term used by officials in Shia Iran to describe Sunni extremists who declare other Muslims as apostates deserving of death.

Iran is currently helping both the Syrian and Iraqi governments battle the jihadist group, Islamic State (IS), which considers Shia to be infidels for their veneration of the Prophet Muhammad's family and other beliefs and practices.

Militants claiming to be defending the Sunni minority community in south-eastern Iran have also carried out a number of attacks against the state in recent years.

The intelligence ministry said the investigation by its agents - whom it described as "Unnamed Soldiers of the Lord of Ages" - was continuing "inside and outside" Iran.

"Updated information will be released to the great Iranian nation as soon as the proper conditions are established," it added.

The Fars news agency cited the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, as saying the bomb attacks had been planned for the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Last month, Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi said 20 terrorist groups that had planned to carry out bomb attacks and cause insecurity had been dismantled.

IS group launches counterattacks on US-backed forces and Syrian army
[Al Ahram] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Lion of Islam group launched a counter attack against fighters trying to capture the Syrian city of Manbij on Monday, inflicting heavy casualties on the U.S.-backed forces, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the murderous Moslems said.

The monitor said the ultra-hard line murderous Moslems won back three villages south of the besieged city in a surprise assault against fighters from the U.S.-backed Syria Democratic Forces, in which at least 28 SDF fighters were killed.

'Biggest terrorist plot' EVER to target Iran has been foiled
[DAILYMAIL.CO.UK] Iranian intelligence officials have foiled 'the biggest terrorist plot' to ever target Tehran and other provinces across the country, state TV claimed today.

Several suspects have been locked away
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
and are under interrogation over the plot after agents seized ammunition and bombs, the report said.

It's thought they had planned a co-ordinated bombing attack including suicide bombs across the nation, according to TV reports attributed to Iran's Intelligence Ministry.

Iranian intelligence officials have foiled 'the biggest terrorist plot' to ever target Tehran (picture, file image) and other provinces in the Islamic Theocratic Republic, the country's state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
reported today

The Fars and Isna news agencies quoted Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, as saying the attack was planned in the holy month of Ramadan.

The official IRNA news agency quoted the ministry as saying: 'One of the biggest takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
-Wahhabi terrorist plots was discovered and foiled,' using terms applied by Iran to Sunni turban groups

They added: 'A series of kabooms prepared in various areas deep inside the country and especially in Tehran and some other provinces... were foiled, the forces of Evil were arrested and a number of ready-made bombs were recovered.'

The agency also said the attack was supposed to come on the anniversary of the death of the Prophet Muhammad's wife, Khadija, on Thursday.

The secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, told the ISNA news agency the plot included plans for 'suicide kabooms in Tehran'.

Syrian regulars recapture oilfield near Raqqa
[ARA News] QAMISHLO – Subsequent to fierce clashes with militants of the Islamic State (ISIS), the Syrian regime’s army forces on Monday recaptured the Thawra gas field in the northeastern Raqqa province.

The Thawra gas field, located in the western countryside of Raqqa, has been under ISIS control for more than two years.

“The army has expelled Daesh [ISIS] terrorists from the al-Thawra gas field,” Syrian army officer Haider Hammoud confirmed in an interview with ARA News.

“The group has suffered heavy losses in manpower and equipment before retreating from the field,” he said.

Gas and oil facilities are deemed a main financial resource for ISIS, especially in the group’s de facto capital of Raqqa.

In the meantime, the Syrian regime’s troops continued their advance towards the Tabqa airbase west of Raqqa, supported by a Russian air cover.

“For us Tabqa airbase is a main target in our military campaign in Raqqa,” the official told ARA News.

Haider added that the Russian air force has played a major role in the army’s progress in the western countryside of Raqqa.

“We are only 8km away from the airbase. The liberation of Tabqa will come soon,” he said.

2nd ISIS counterattack at Manbij fails
Video report at the link
MANBIJ – The Manbij Military Council said on Monday that the Islamic State group (ISIS) tried to break the siege on Manbij city, by attacking the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from another frontline, military sources reported.

ISIS fighters on Monday morning attacked forces of the SDF from the side of al-Bab, Jarabulus and the village of Arima. The clashes continued until the afternoon, and were repelled by the SDF forces, costing ISIS many losses in lives and material.

Speaking to ARA News, Heval Shiyar, a local commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said that al-Bab is the only city from where ISIS can operate freely and reach the Turkish border from Raqqa.

The operation to capture Manbij city has been slowed down in an attempt by the SDF troops to avoid civilians casualties.

“We can enter the city of Manbij easily, but the only obstacle for us is civilians. We have helped 7,000 to 8,000 people to escape the city,” Shiyar told ARA News on the Manbij frontlines. “That’s why the operation goes slowly towards the city.”

“We have information from local sources that the city is full of civilians, that’s why any movement will hurt them,” he added.

So far, SDF fighters have entered the suburbs near the western entrance of Manbij, and the fighting is continuing.

According to the US-led coalition, they have carried out 10 air strikes on 19 June, destroying six ISIS tactical units and five ISIS fighting positions.

“Manbij will be a big test. It will be one of the most strategic blows to ISIL [ISIS] yet because it is their hub of foreign fighters,” American anti-ISIS envoy Brett McGurk said last week.

“It is their main kind of access route from Raqqa. And so I suspect they will fight for it. But we feel pretty good about the plan — not only the military plan, but importantly the post-ISIL plan,” the envoy added.

Kurds begin recruitment drive in Kobane
Video report at the link
KOBANE – In an unprecedented step on Monday 160 civilians were conscripted in Syria’s Kurdish city of Kobane for military service after ratifying the law of self defence duty in June beginning this month.

The new recruits will be trained at the martyr Kendal Efrin camp for 45 days by the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and then serve for 9 months.

“The first group they take is just maybe 100 people,” said Idris Nasan, a former official in the Kobane administration. “They will serve 9 months and after that they are free to join the YPG or go home,” he told ARA News.

“They will not be used to fight ISIS, but will be used inside the city of Kobane and the nearby villages to replace some fighters at checkpoints. The YPG need more fighters for the places they liberate,” Nasan added.

However, some civilians in Kobane seem very critical of the conscription law introduced by the Self-Administration, suggesting the city has suffered too much from ISIS attacks, and a massacre carried out by ISIS in June 2015 that killed more than 233 civilians.

But others say that this massacre exactly shows the necessity of the service.

“You cannot send people to fight by force, people should have the right to choose,” Mohammed, a 25-year-old citizen of Kobane, told ARA News. “They should do it like in Iraq like the Peshmerga forces, if they want they can fight, if they don’t want they don’t fight,” he said.

Some youth have tried to escape to Turkey to avoid the service.

However, Ibrahim Kurdo, the head of foreign relations in Kobane administration said that the self defence duty “is not conscription”.

“We have been under threat for five years, and people realize that this self defence service was created for them to be able to defend themselves,” Kurdo told ARA News. “These new fighters will not fight in the frontlines, they are behind the frontlines,” he said.

“It’s a natural right to defend yourselves, if there is no protection, people will be eliminated and finished,” he added.

British Sniper Takes Out Two ISIS Bombers With One Shot, Saving Hundreds Of Lives
[DAILYCALLER] A British Special Air Service (SAS) sniper took out two Islamic State bombers with a single shot, saving hundreds of lives in the process.

The SAS sniper took his shot from just over half a mile away, killing the terrorist driver in a split second.

But the story doesn’t end there. The bullet passed through the driver’s head and also hit his accomplice in the neck — an incredible feat, given these two targets were moving. The shot was one of the best in SAS history, according to an SAS source who spoke with the Daily Star Sunday.

“If the sniper had missed a lot of people would have lost their lives,” the SAS source said.

I'm waiting to read about such a sniper delivering a beacon 'package', to the vehicle, which then requests a kinetic download from the Overwatch drone.

The Beatings Will Continue: Aleppo Edition
700 non combatants detained by ISIS in Aleppo
AFRIN – Radical group of the Islamic State (ISIS) launched an arrest campaign in northern Syria, and captured more than 700 civilians, local sources reported on Monday.

ISIS jihadis have broken into several villages in the countryside of Jarablus, Azaz and al-Bab in the northern Aleppo province, and arrested hundreds of civilians, most of them were reportedly from the Kurdish minority in the area.

Al-Shahba documentation centre reported the arrest of 96 civilians in the Shawi village, 107 in the Weran village, 86 in Ghandoura, 37 in Sur Sanbat, 143 in Arima, 119 in al-Raee, 27 in Tel Jerja, 74 in Kawikli, six in Kayiba, four in Qabasin and two civilians were captured in the Kalben village.

“The majority of those arrested by ISIS militants on Monday were Kurdish civilians,” member of the Shahba documentation centre Muhammad Kalo told ARA News.

Also, the extremist group executed on Monday 12 civilians for trying to escape the ISIS-held villages in Jarablus countryside.

“They were shot dead for trying to escape before ISIS captured them,” Kalo reported, citing eyewitnesses.

According to local media activists, ISIS is using civilians as human shields in the battles against the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

“The terror group is sending civilians to the battlefronts in northern Syria in order to use them as human shields to claim that the western-backed SDF troops are killing innocent civilians,” Kalo told ARA News.

“The ISIS use of civilians as human shields has affected the performance of our troops,” SDF commander in Manbij Adnan Abu Amjad told ARA News.

“Our goal is to protect civilians against ISIS, and we are aware of the group’s brutal strategy of using those civilians as human shields, that’s why we’re being extremely careful during our military operations,” the official said.
