Man from Ohio indicted on more counts of violent threats
Federal authorities say an Ohio man has been indicted on more criminal charges for using a social media site to incite violence against U.S. military members on behalf of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group.

Twenty-five-year-old Terrence McNeil, of Akron, was originally indicted in December on three counts each of solicitation of a crime of violence and threatening military personnel. Nine additional charges were added in a new federal indictment handed up Friday in Cleveland, kept in touch with the world by Obamaphone,
...was ruled by a Democrat machine from 1942 through 1971. After the river caught fire during the administration of Carl Stokes they tried a Republican, then went back to being Democrats when the party hacked up Dennis Kucinich ...
The government accuses McNeil, a one-time hospital employee, of posting a file on his Tumblr account in September 2015 that purportedly contained the names and addresses of military personnel. McNeil is accused of urging Islamic State supporters to kill and behead military members.

McNeil’s attorney couldn’t be reached for comment Sunday about the new charges.

18 Egyptian trial defendants get prison sentence after shoe thrown at judge
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Cairo court sentenced 18 defendants on Sunday to two years in prison for insulting the judiciary, after the defendants cheered inside the cage when one of them threw his shoe at the judge, security sources and a lawyer said.

Amar El Shahat, a 19-year-old student, turned around and aimed his shoe at the head of the court as he was being sent back to the cage after being questioned before the court for making noise inside the cage, a police official who was in the courtroom said.

El-shahat is being tried along with 22 others on terrorism charges and possessing weapons, with five being tried in absentia. The trial that began in 2015 was taking place in the police academy.

Sunday's sentence was for a separate charge of insulting the judiciary during a court hearing.

A policeman who was standing behind the Mohammed Shereen Fahmy, the judge, caught the shoe just before it could hit Fahmy's head, said Khaled el Masry, a lawyer representing three of the defendants, who was in the courtroom.

The rest of the defendants supported their colleague, which is what led the court to move a criminal case against them, and accuse them of insulting the judiciary, the police official said. They were all sentenced to two years in prison after a representative of the general prosecution in court called for them to be handed the maximum sentence, the police official added.

The defendants have the right to appeal against the decision, but El Masry said they had been handed two years in prison in a previous court session but didn't appeal. "They do not recognize the court as a valid judicial body that could try them," el Masry said.

Nigeria: Chibok girls in tearful reunion with families
[Al Jazeera] Some of the 21 Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by the gang Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
have reunited with their families, following their release after 30 months in captivity.

Shouts, kisses and cries of joy filled the room as the freed girls, who had been kidnapped along with more than 200 other pupils in the town of Chibok in April 2014, met their relatives in Abuja on Sunday.

The girls were freed on Thursday, but it took days for most of the families to reach the capital for the reunion.

At the meeting, the parents of one of the girls spoke of their excitement at seeing their daughter.

"When we heard they found some of the girls, and that our daughter was among them, we slept as if the day is not going to break," Muta Abana, a father of one of the Chibok girls, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named news agency.

"We wanted the day to break quickly, to see if the government is going to call us, to come and see that our daughter was among them."

Hawa Abana, the mother, said that Boko Haram kidnapped her daughter and hundreds of other schoolgirls, because "they did not want them to succeed in life".

"By God's grace she is back," she said. "She will go back to school. Boko Haram has no power again."

Eleanor Nwadinobi, women and girls manager at the Nigeria Stability and Recognition Programme,
said the girls will now undergo treatment which must be tailored to individual needs, including trauma counselling and health and nutritional requirements.

US, UK call for immediate Yemen ceasefire
Any minute, the Houthis and their Iranian backers will step right up for a talk, yew betcha.
The United States and Britain are calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Yemen to end violence between Iran-backed Houthis and the government.

US Secretary of State John Kerry said on Sunday if Yemen’s opposing sides accepted and moved forward on the ceasefire then the special envoy to the UN, Ould Cheikh Ahmed, would work through the details and announce when and how it would take effect.

“This is the time to implement a ceasefire unconditionally and then move to the negotiating table,” Kerry told reporters. “We cannot emphasize enough today the urgency of ending the violence in Yemen,” he said after meeting British foreign minister, Boris Johnson, and other officials in London.

Kerry said he, Johnson and Cheikh Ahmed were calling for the implementation of the ceasefire “as rapidly as possible, meaning Monday, Tuesday”.

Bangladesh
Hamza Brigade kingpins keep eluding RAB
[Dhaka Tribune] It has been about two years since Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) cracked down on Shahid Hamza Brigade,
...a group no doubt of about seven people including Numbers One, Two, and Three...
a holy warrior organization based in Chittagong,
...that mysterious, exotic, and terribly corrupt sink of villainy and vice...
, but the two men they have identified as top leaders have so far eluded capture.

RAB says the men are Dubai citizen Allama Libdi and a Malaysian expatriate Bangladeshi who the captured Lions of Islam only know as "Boro Bhai" (big brother).
They're furriners?! Chittagong must be more corrupt than we imagined, dear Reader.
The information RAB has on these two are also scant, despite the fact that most of the organization is already behind bars, Sherlocks said.
Yep, all five of them thus far. They only take up one jail cell in the local two cell jail, though to be fair the RAB doesn't traditionally hang on to their prisoners for very long.
Talking to the Dhaka Tribune, RAB-7’s Commanding Officer Lt Col Miftah Uddin Ahmed said: "After quizzing the tossed in the slammer
Please don't kill me!
Lions of Islam and financiers, RAB learned that Dubai citizen Libdi had come to Bangladesh several times and funded the organization to carry out holy warrior activities.
Ah. He was a drop-in hobby investor taking care of his jihad support requirement more directly than most, not an actual Number One. Betcha that went over well at cocktail parties back home.
"However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
the details regarding Libdi are yet to be known."
They've got a name, which might even be a true one. Put it on the unwanted list at all airports.
Lt Col Miftah said after learning of Libdi’s involvement with holy warrior funding, RAB went to immigration to look for his details but failed to get any information as they did not know his passport number.
How many Dubai citizens named Libdi can have come regularly through the airports?
"We have been trying to find out about Libdi by sharing our information with concerned authorities."

He said they had also learned about the involvement of a suspected Malaysian expatriate Bangladeshi.

He was code-named "Boro Bhai," Abdullah, Junayed and Mahmudullah and was funding and guiding the group.
Another hobby investor. How many Malaysians can afford such a thing?
However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
RAB believes the Hamza Brigade’s network has been destroyed as its top three organisers, key arms supplier and bombs expert are all under arrest.

Hamza Brigade took form in Chittagong in late 2013, gathering former Chhatra Shibir men, members of other holy warrior groups and former members of Hefajat-e-Islam
...a madrassa-based false nose and mustache of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, formed in 2010 to protest against secular education. In 2011 demonstrated violentyly against women's rights and in 2013 held large rallies demanding capital punishment of Shahbag Square protesters and banning women working outside the home...
The elite force has so far arrested more than 33 persons including five alleged financiers of the brigade. A giant cache of firearms and ammunition including eight AK-22 rifles were also found in their possession.
My goodness. That is a good deal bigger than anticipated.
RAB busted the brigade’s indoctrination centre at a qawmi madrasa named Al Madrasatul Abu Bakar in Hathazari upazila on February 19, 2015 and arrested 12 holy warriors. Three days later RAB found a training centre in Lotmoni Pahar area of Banshkhali upazila.
Both schools had the slogan "We're building for the future."
Then RAB discovered another hideout of the group at a flat in the Halishahar residential area in Chittagong city where a large quantity of bomb making materials were found.
Has the brigade been that busy, or are they supplying to the trade as well?
Over the next two years RAB also caught five financiers, three of whom are lawyers and two readymade garment businessmen who allegedly funneled millions to the holy warrior organization.
The responsibility to support jihad, if one does not take up the sword oneself, is one of the five pillars of Islam, as I recall.

PM to Bimstec leaders: Find out mentors, masterminds, financiers of terror
[Dhaka Tribune] Prime Minister the loathesome Sheikh Hasina
...Bangla dynastic politician and current Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She has been the President of the Bangla Awami League since the Lower Paleolithic. She is the eldest of five children of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangla. Her party defeated the BNP-led Four-Party Alliance in the 2008 parliamentary elections. She has once before held the office, from 1996 to 2001, when she was defeated in a landslide. She and the head of the BNP, Khaleda Zia show such blind animosity toward each other that they are known as the Battling Begums..
has urged Bimstec leaders to find out the mentors, criminal masterminds, abettors, financiers, arms suppliers and trainers of bandidos gunnies and holy warriors to defeat terrorism.

"We must be prepared to take strong actions against bandidos gunnies and their supporters. I firmly believe that within Bimstec we should be able to strengthen our cooperation to address terrorism and rise of violent extremism," she said.

Sheikh Hasina was delivering her statement at the Bimstec Leaders’ Retreat held at the tourist city of Goa on Sunday.

Chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the retreat programme was also addressed by leaders of other Bimstec countries.

In Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina said her government has taken a ’zero-tolerance’ approach to terrorism and violent extremism.

"We’ve also taken massive awareness programmes for the youth, for families, for educational institutions. We’ve succeeded in disintegrating the homegrown terrorists."

Hasina said as she stood there as one of the four founding leaders who had inspired the launching of Bimstec way back in 1997 and during the past 20 years, Bimstec has made progress in connecting our two regions.

"Understandably, our progress has been slow, but the groundwork has been done. It’s now time to hasten the process of integration," she added.

Hasina said time has come to seriously re-look at how Bimstec could be made more effective and result-oriented one as well as to draw synergies with other groupings.

"While we’ve 14 areas of cooperation under Bimstec, I believe we should try to focus more on some key areas like trade and investment, energy, connectivity and counter-terrorism for next five years. Regular ministerial meetings on the key areas of cooperation are important for building momentum," she said.

The Grand Turk
Turkish foreign minister says Al-Bab next target in Syria
[Al Ahram] Turkish-based rebel fighters will advance to al-Bab after seizing the emblematic northern town of Dabiq from the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, the Turkish foreign minister said on Sunday.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
in August embarked on an ambitious operation dubbed "Euprates Shield" inside Syria, backing opposition fighters to cleanse its border from the IS group and Syrian Kurdish militia forces.

Rebel fighters on Sunday captured Dabiq in a symbolic setback to jihadists as the town was cited as the site of an end-of-times battle between Christian forces and Moslems according to a Sunni prophecy.

The IS defeat in Dabiq comes after rebel fighters captured Jarabulus and al-Rai from the jihadists in the early weeks of the operation.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Sunday Dabiq was now "completely" under the control of Syrian opposition, Turkish media reported.

"The next target is of course to move to al-Bab" south of Jarabulus in northern Syria, he told a joint news conference with his United Arab Emirates counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan.

Lawfare: How US states are countering the BDS movement against Israel
It turns out Israel is not as partisan a subject as the antizionists would like us to believe.
[Jpost] "Israel for America is a point of American patriotism."

It could be said that the impressive success story of the 12 US states using their laws to counter the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel started in the living room of South Carolina state politician Alan Clemmons.

The Jerusalem Post recently interviewed Clemmons and two other leading figures in the effort to counter BDS at the state level.

It's nothing personal. It's just that every church and synagogue is a power center not directly controlled by the elites. I mean, how can you tolerate people who believe that the Bible is true and the New York Times is not?

Now you would think the same logic applies to mosques, but identity politics produces some strange results.

Kashmir anthem song to be released within 10 days
[DAWN] "The message we want to convey is not just for the Pak nation but for the whole world. I have noticed that ever since violence in the India-held Kashmire has escalated, our artists are quiet about it. I’m a little disappointed in those colleagues of mine who are afraid to talk about it. Apart from being a national and artistic issue, it is also a humanitarian issue."

This was said by popular singer Umair Jaswal at a presser at the Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
Press Club on Saturday afternoon held to announce a ’Kashmire theme anthem song’ which will be composed and released within 10 days.

Mr Jaswal thanked Umer Ahsan, the man behind the project, for giving him the opportunity to be a part of the song. He said renowned artists such as Sabir Zafar (poet who is writing the lyrics to the song), Abid Ali (actor, who will lend his voice to the voiceover segment) and Waqar Ali (music director who will compose the song) would be participating in the project. He said he wanted every child of Pakistain to know that in one part of our neighbourhood people were being oppressed (buhat zayadah zulm ho raha hai) and it was important to raise your voice against it. This anthem, he said, would not be a Kashmire anthem; rather it would be an anthem for humanity. There’s no financial interest in it, and people were working on it on a voluntary basis, he said.

Imran unveils ‘occupy Islamabad’ plan
[DAWN] After keeping his friends and foes guessing for weeks, Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) Chairman Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who isn't your heaviest-duty thinker, maybe not even among the top five...
unveiled on Saturday his plan to paralyse Islamabad: party workers will block roads leading to government offices ‐ particularly those continuously being mentioned in his speeches.

"Now, Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
will have to either resign or will be held accountable for his proven corruption," Mr Khan said at a gathering of Insaf Professional Forum.

Mr Khan, however, hinted at the possibility of a change in the schedule of the Islamabad lock-down date. Earlier, he had announced Oct 30 as the final showdown date.

Urging the masses to be ready for a longer showdown in Islamabad, the PTI chief said the workers would continue occupying roads and entrances of major government offices such as National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Federal Investigation Agency, Federal Board of Revenue and Election Commission of Pakistain.

India has no moral ground to talk about counter-terrorism, says Sartaj
[DAWN] Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj PrunefaceAziz
...Adviser to Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on National Security and Foreign Affairs, who believes in good jihadis and bad jihadis as a matter of national policy...
on Sunday said that India had no moral ground to talk about counter-terrorism efforts and pointing fingers at other states as Indian state sponsored terrorism and terror financing on Pak soil has been proven irrefutably.

The adviser reacted strongly to Indian Prime Minister Modi's statement that Pakistain is the 'mothership of terrorism' and said that "Modi is misleading his BRICS and BIMSTEC colleagues".

"The Indian leadership is desperately trying to hide its brutalities in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmire, an internationally recognised dispute on the UN Security Council agenda, where innocent people are being killed and injured by the occupation forces daily with impunity," said Aziz

He said the people of India-held Kashmire (IHK) are being subjected to genocide by India for demanding their fundamental right to self determination, as promised to the Kashmiris in the relevant UNSC resolutions.

"The ongoing Indian atrocities have taken over 150 Kashmiris lives, including children and women, and inflicted injuries on around 15,000 and blinded many hundreds," said the foreign affairs adviser.

India to abolish verbal divorce, polygamy; Muslim Law board differs
[Dhaka Tribune] Under Moslem personal law based on the Sharia, a Moslem man can divorce his wife by pronouncing talaq thrice and men are also allowed to have four wives.

Gender equality is part of the basic structure of the Constitution and non-negotiable, the Centre told the Supreme Court on Friday while opposing the practices of triple talaq and polygamy in the Moslem community.

This is the first time the Indian government has officially taken a stand to oppose the contentious custom that has divided the community, with women’s groups and individuals advocating sweeping reforms in Moslem personal law that is heavily tilted against women.

Under Moslem personal law based on the Sharia, a Moslem man can divorce his wife by pronouncing talaq thrice. Moslem men are also allowed to have four wives. India has separate sets of personal laws for each religion governing marriage, divorce, succession, adoption and maintenance. While Hindu law overhaul began in the 1950s and continues, activists have long argued that Moslem personal law has remained mostly unchanged.

"Even though it may be true to say that only some women are directly and actually affected by these practices being divorced by talaq-e-bidat or being in a polygamous marriage, the fact remains that every woman to whom the law applies, lives under the threat, fear or prospect of being subject to these practices, which in turn impacts her status and her right to a life with confidence and dignity," the government said in its affidavit to the top court.

The Centre’s stand was in response to the court asking whether an intervention would violate the Moslem community’s fundamental rights.

Modi calls Pakistan ‘mother-ship of terrorism’
[Dhaka Tribune] Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi branded Pakistain a "mother-ship of terrorism" at a summit of the BRICS nations on Sunday, testing the cohesion of a group whose heavyweight member China is a close ally of its South Asian arch-rival.

Modi’s remarks to a meeting of leaders from the BRICS ‐ which include Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa ‐ escalated his diplomatic drive to isolate Pakistain, which India accuses of sponsoring cross-border terrorism.

Tension between the nuclear-armed neighbours has escalated since a September 18 attack on an army base in Kashmire, near the disputed frontier with Pakistain, killed 19 Indian soldiers in the worst such assault in 14 years.

India later said it had carried out retaliatory "surgical strikes" across the de facto border that inflicted significant casualties. Pakistain denied any role in the attack on the Uri army base, and said the Indian operation had not even happened, dismissing it as typical cross-border firing.

"In our own region, terrorism poses a grave threat to peace, security and development," Modi said in his remarks to BRICS leaders who met at a resort hotel in the western state of Goa.

"Tragically, the mother-ship of terrorism is a country in India’s neighbourhood," the 66-year-old prime minister said, without directly naming Pakistain, in a series of tweets issued by the foreign ministry.

No immediate reaction was available from Pakistain’s foreign ministry.

Modi’s posturing overshadowed the gathering of leaders of a group originally set up to boost economic cooperation. It followed a productive bilateral summit with President Vladimir Putin of Russia on Saturday that yielded billions of dollars in defence and energy deals.

The BRICS leaders had donned brightly coloured sleeveless jackets, of a style made popular by India’s first post-independence leader Jawaharlal Nehru, for an informal dinner on Saturday evening.

They were due later on Sunday to hold an outreach session with leaders from a little-known group of countries from the Bay of Bengal region whose key attribute, from India’s point of view, is that Pakistain is not a member.

Modi’s hard line against Pakistain marks a departure from India’s tradition of strategic restraint, and New Delhi has won expressions of support from both the West and Russia over the army base attack.

Yet China, a longstanding ally of Pakistain that plans to build a $46 billion export corridor, has shown public restraint.

Modi and President Xi Jinping also held a bilateral meeting on Saturday and the accounts of their conversation emerging from both sides pointed to key differences of opinion.

In one remark reported by the state Xinhua news agency, Xi said that China and India should "support each other in participating in regional affairs and enhance cooperation within multilateral frameworks".

The dispatch went on to refer to the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc). This grouping includes Pakistain, which was to have hosted a summit in November that collapsed after India and other members pulled out.

The final BRICS summit declaration was expected to repeat earlier condemnations of "terrorism in all its forms", say diplomats and analysts, but avoid levelling blame over tensions between India and Pakistain.

"Modi is aware that such language wouldn’t get the consensus necessary to make it into the final communique. Including it in his speech ensures it gets wide circulation anyway," said South Asia expert Shashank Joshi.

"So far, we haven’t seen any indication at all that China is softening its public support for Pakistain. India did not expect differently," added Joshi, a senior research fellow at the Royal United Services Institute in London.

Iraq
Refugees flood into Rojava
Hasakah – Thousands of Iraqi civilians, who escaped war-torn Nineveh, arrived on Sunday to Syria’s northeastern Hasakah Governorate looking for a safe haven.

The Kurdish-led Self-Administration of Rojava said that its local committees in Hasakah provided thousands of Iraqi families with shelter in the al-Hawl Camp –near the Syrian-Iraqi border.

“Thousands of civilians crossed the border into Rojava [Syria’s Kurdish region] over the past few days, fleeing the intensified fighting in Nineveh Governorate, especially in the vicinity of Mosul city,” Hozan Mahmo, a member of the Hawl Camp administration, told ARA News.

“On Sunday, more than 200 families arrived to Hasakah and took shelter in al-Hawl Camp,” he said.

Meanwhile, the directory of al-Hawl Camp appealed to the international community to provide aid to the camp in order to be able to shelter “as many displaced Iraqi civilians as possible”.

“The camp suffers from shortage of basic supplies. We hope that the international community would assist us to cope with this unprecedented influx of Iraqi refugees into Rojava,” it said in a statement.

According to local source, with the start of the anti-ISIS Mosul campaign tens of thousands of Iraqi refugees are expected to cross the border into Rojava.

Saudi Arabia replaces Iraq envoy who riled Shia militias
[Al Ahram] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
on Sunday replaced its envoy to Iraq whose comments about Iranian involvement in Iraqi affairs led to diplomatic tension with Baghdad.

Thamer al-Sabhan in 2015 became the first Saudi ambassador to be posted to Iraq since the 1990 Iraqi invasion of Kuwait - an appointment which was seen as heralding closer cooperation in the fight against Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
bully boyz in Iraq, Syria and Saudi Arabia.

But in August Iraq asked Riyadh to replace Sabhan after his comments about Iranian involvement in Iraqi affairs and the alleged persecution of Sunni Moslems angered local Shia Moslem politicians and militia leaders.

Sabhan was appointed minister for Arab Gulf Affairs, a newly created position, according to state news agency SPA.

He will be replaced by Abdulaziz al-Shamri, Riyadh's military attache in Germany, who will be appointed as the charge d’affaires to the Saudi embassy in Baghdad, Sabhan said on his Twitter account on Friday.

Iraqi Shia politicians and militias had made repeated calls to expel Sabhan, who has been calling on the Iraqi government to exclude Shia paramilitary groups from its military campaign against Islamic State in order to avoid abuses against Sunnis in Iraq.

Baghdad's move underscores the depth of enmity between Sunni and Shia Moslem powers as sectarian conflicts rage in Syria, Yemen
