Khamenei’s favorite reciter hit by rape claims
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Rape victims are coming forward alleging the one of Iran’s leading Koran readers sexually molested them.

Saeed Toosi is considred one of Iran’s most celebrated Koran reader and was once considered an "exemplary model to be followed" according to Khamenei, current Supreme Leader of Iran.

The 46-year-old representative of Iran in the international Koranic competition, and the winner of the first prize both internationally and locally, has reportedly raped seven of his students aged between 12 ad 14, during the past seven years.

They decided to shed light on their cases and bring it to the public while an Iranian court attempts at covering up the sexual scandal under supposed direct orders from the Khamenei and the Supreme Judicial authorities.

Toosi adds up to a growing list of scandal facing Tehran, after series of economic ones have preoccupied the Iranian public.

In a television program broadcasted by The Persian Voice of America , three of the rape victims said that they have written evidence and audio recordings clearly pointing to Toosi in which he admitted with his own handwriting that it his actions were a "mistake".

In an audio recording , Toosi is heard saying the that Khamenei is well aware of the situation, and had agreed with the head of the judiciary authority Sadek Larijani to cover up the case in order to safeguard the reputation of the Koranic institution in Iran.

One of the victims, a first prize winner in one of the recent Koranic competition, alleged that Toosi took advantage of him when he was his lover companion for a competition abroad. He deliberately booked one hotel room where he molested and raped the then 12-year-old.

The victims added that they filed complaints against the Koranic reader to officials in the House of the Leadership after they were were advised to. Yet officials have ignored their claims after receiving a"repentance letter " where Toosi admitted his wrongoing and claimed "he is a changed man".

Protesters Allegedly Hold Journalists Hostage At Dakota Oil Pipeline Rally
[Daily Caller] Protesters allegedly intimidated and held a crew of journalists hostage Tuesday at one of the Dakota oil pipeline protests in North Dakota.

Activists associated with the Dakota Access Pipeline protests threatened to slash journalists Phelm McAleer and Magdalena Segieda’s tires and seize their filming equipment. The two reporters were conducting interviews at the Sacred Stone Camp where protesters have gathered to prevent the construction of an oil pipeline.

Federal officials are refusing to evict those hunkered down at the anti-pipeline encampments near the highly controversial, $3.8 billion project. Officials believe booting the protesters would harm free speech rights, despite the fact that the land is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

"Someone out of the blue started attacking, tried to steel our microphone," McAleer told The Daily Caller News Foundation, prompting his crew to flea to their vehicle as protesters followed close behind.
That paralgaf waz speled by a profesionel.

A similar reason will no doubt be used to explain the failure to pursue charges against Terre Haute releasee and Dem operative Bob Creamer.

‘We failed,’ New York police commissioner says of sergeant fatally shooting ‘emotionally disturbed’ woman
[WASHINGTONPOST] Authorities in New York were sharply critical Wednesday of a police sergeant responding to a call about an "emotionally disturbed person" on Tuesday night who officials said fatally shot a 66-year-old woman wielding a baseball bat.

Police said they were investigating the shooting that occurred in the Bronx apartment of Deborah Danner, who authorities said was known to officers after previous, similar calls about her. In blunt public statements on Wednesday, officials said Sgt. Hugh Barry did not follow his training and said they were seeking to determine why he fired his gun rather than his Taser.

"The shooting of Deborah Danner is tragic and it is unacceptable," New York Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) said during a news conference Wednesday afternoon. "It should never have happened. It’s as simple as that. It should never have happened."

New York Police Commissioner James O’Neill said earlier Wednesday that "we failed" and he wanted to know why.

Arabia
Saudi liberal to Al Arabiya: Preachers reinforce hostility toward modernity
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Saudi liberal writer and novelist Abdullah bin Bakheet has accused Islamic holy mans and preachers for the role in spreading terrorism during a recent exclusive interview with AlArabiya.net.

Bakheet said the phenomenon of terrorism is due to several factors such as extremism, marginalizing the arts, forbidding women’s rights and commented on the role of preachers in spreading terrorism saying the existence of the preacher’s job made the naive hope for pursuing bad boy activities and establishing the caliphate.

"The preacher’s job has done worse than that as it has reinforced hostility towards modern civilization and sanctified this enmity, thus destroying Arabs’ nascent modernity," he said, adding that preachers do not only promote terrorism but have also created the Islamic Awkening and taught young people in the process to despise women.

Bakheet said the roles such preachers play in society constitute the biggest cultural, moral and religious challenges facing Moslems in our modern day lives, noting that the job cannot be traced back to Islamic culture.

"Name one preacher from the Abbasid or the Ummayid or the Ayyubid era...name one person from the history of Islam and whose name is linked to the word ’preacher.’ This preacher’s job has no conditions, and it was created in Egypt and has later taken root in the Saudi kingdom due to the rise of Afghani jihad," the liberal author told AlArabiya.net.

Having lived in abroad for many years, particularly Canada, Bakheet commended the freedoms and rule of law afforded to western citizens.

"It’s by freedom that you eliminate corruption, economy’s and development’s worst enemy, and hatred and terrorism, man’s worst enemy," Bakheet said, adding that according to him all shortcoming in the Islamic world happened due to the lack freedom and absence of rule of law.

Specifying the Saudi liberal role
The author of Street of Affections novel commented on the progress of western countries in comparison to the Arab world saying: "If Saudi journalism in the 1980’s and 1990’s enjoyed the freedom it currently enjoys, we would not have witnessed the disaster of the (emergence of the Islamic) Awakening."

Bakheet commented on recent developments slamming conspiracy theories saying he does not believe in them.

"Conspiracy theories are the conspiracy of fate. In the past, when people suffered from an infectious disease which they did not understand and did not have the knowledge to deal with, they used to just cry and pray and accuse the gods of evil of being behind it. Most people from third world countries still adopt this legend to explain phenomena (they cannot understand). Conspiracy theories are the modern version," Bakheet explained.

Bakheet also addressed women-related affairs in the Saudi kingdom and voiced hope that they will get to enjoy more freedoms such as traveling and going to a restaurant without the need for a male guardian, wearing whatever they want or making a living by opening a small grocery shop.

Commenting on statements that liberals do not have specific agendas and have done nothing but struggle with the inquisitors religious police in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, Bakheet responded saying what’s important in the end is that liberals do not operate as a party but express the points of views which the nation has been deprived from for years, adding that if people want to be fair, they must recall that liberals changed the essence of life and awareness in the Saudi society.

"Who defends women’s rights, workers’ rights and modernity other than the liberals?" he asked, adding that he is currently working on research that he hopes can specify the role of liberals in Saudi society.

Economy
Doom and Gloom: Fed risks repeating Lehman blunder as US recession storm gathers
A U.S. recession is predicted for the Spring of 2017. Déjà vu all over again. Liquidity is drying up. There has been five successive quarters of declining corporate profits. The Fed is methodically draining money through "reverse repos". We are on a course for rising interest rates and the Fed has no margin for error according to Ambrose Evans Pritchard. The growth rate of the nominal GNP has been on an unbroken fall pattern since the beginning of the year. The velocity of money in the U.S., a measure of the health of the economy is at a 40 year low.

Wait a minute! This is beginning to read a lot like what Donald J. Trump said in the 3rd debate last night. He just might have had all this right. Just maybe he is the right guy to be in charge of the economy rather than Bill Clinton.

Exxon boss tells peers, Saudis their oil supply crunch bet is wrong
[REUTERS] Exxon Mobil's boss Rex Tillerson told Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
's energy minister on Wednesday that fears of a new global oil supply crunch were exaggerated as the U.S. oil industry was adapting to the low price shock and was set to resume growth.

The remarks by Tillerson, who is due to retire before March next year, about the resilience of the U.S. oil industry come as the Saudis have effectively abandoned their strategy to drive higher cost producers out of the market by ramping up cheap supplies from their own fields.

More than two years of downturn that saw oil prices halve to around $50 a barrel today after a boom in U.S. shale oil production have led to a sharp decline in investment.

But Tillerson, who heads the world's largest listed oil and gas company, said that shale oil producers' resilience in cutting costs to make some wells profitable at as low as $40 a barrel means that North America has effectively become a swing producer that will be able to respond rapidly to any global supply shortage.

Russian hacker sought by US arrested in Czech Republic
[FOXNEWS] Czech police have tossed in the slammer
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
a Russian hacker suspected of cyberattacks in the United States, officials said on Wednesday.

Police said an international warrant for the man, who was not named, was issued by Interpol and that officers cooperated with the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation on the case.

Hours after the arrest was made public, the professional networking service LinkedIn suggested that the arrest was tied to a 2012 breach of member information. A front man for the U.S. Justice Department declined to confirm that or comment on a possible connection.

"Following the 2012 breach of LinkedIn member information, we have remained actively involved with the FBI's case to pursue those responsible," the company said in a statement Wednesday. "We are thankful for the hard work and dedication of the FBI in its efforts to locate and capture the parties believed to be responsible for this criminal activity."

In May, LinkedIn said that the 2012 breach resulted in more than 100 million of its users' passwords being compromised -- vastly more than previously thought. The business social network said that it believes to be true a purported hacker's claim that 117 million user emails and passwords were stolen in the breach.

Police front man Jozef Bocan said the suspect was arrested in a Prague hotel. After the arrest the suspect collapsed, received first aid treatment and was hospitalized, Bocan said.

Imambargah official booked
[DAWN] Police have registered cases against the participants of a mourning procession for bringing out the procession without the government s’ permission and the administration of an under construction imambargah at Adiala Road on charges of violating ban on use of loudspeaker, police said on Tuesday.

The first case was registered with the Saddar Bairooni police on the complaint of a police official who said that he was on security duty outside the residence of Syed Intikhab Hussain Shah in Dhoke Baba Adial on Muharram 15 when a mourning procession led by Muhammad Hanif appeared from the house.

The participants of the procession dispersed on reaching at Mazhar Hussain’s house at 1.30am on Monday. But all of a sudden some mourners whose number was between 25 and 30 appeared on the road and started marching towards an under construction imambargah which was unregistered with the police.

Philippine Police Van Runs Over Protesters at U.S. Embassy
[An Nahar] A Philippine police van on Wednesday rammed and ran over baton-wielding protesters outside the U.S. embassy in Manila, with the driver of the vehicle saying he panicked because he feared being mobbed.

Hundreds of protesters had gathered at the embassy to voice support for President Rodrigo Duterte's recent tirades against the United States, the Philippines' longtime ally, and call for American troops to leave the country.

Television footage showed protesters hitting the vehicle with long sticks and breaking through a security cordon close to the embassy. Police also fired tear gas and used their batons to strike back at protesters.

At one stage the van reversed quickly into dozens of people then forward again, running over a man, who was able to stand up and stumble away.

"They were trying to take over the vehicle, trying to overturn it," the vehicle's driver, police officer Franklin Khu, told news hounds afterwards, according to ABS CBN television, which filmed the incident.

Asked if he panicked, Khu said: "Of course, our vehicle was overturning and if they seized control, they could run down other coppers."

Police chiefs said some of the protesters had sustained minor injuries, although rally organizers said 50 were hurt and five had been taken to hospital.

Photos showed a second man trapped underneath the van after it had stopped, with his leg and hips under one of the back tyres. He was later seen limping away.

Police insisted the protesters had instigated the violence.

"We had to disperse them. They started it. They were trying to enter the embassy," Chief Inspector Arsenio Riparip, one of the officers overseeing the incident, told AFP.
