Migrants continued to cross the Mediterranean despite dangerous sea conditions: IOM
[Libya Herald] Moslem colonists Migrants continue to cross the Mediterranean from Libya in record numbers despite dangerous sea conditions and colder winter weather, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) says in its latest report published today.

The report states that 348,664 migrants colonists and refugees entered Europe by sea and there were 4,690 deaths at sea in 2016 up to 29 November.

The IOM report states that 171,731 people arrived in Greece and 171,299 in Italia during 2016. However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
the total is well below the number of arrivals at this point in 2015, by which time some 883,393 migrants colonists and refugees had made the journey.

Yesterday alone, 1,413 migrants colonists were rescued during 13 operations carried out between Libya and Italia, bringing the total picked up since last weekend to 2,070. The migrants colonists were rescued in operations carried out by the Norwegian Siem Pilot, several Italian Coast Guard ships, the Italian Navy ships Borsini, Grecale and Fasan and other international rescue ships, the IOM reported.

"In November 2016, 11,872 arrivals were registered, compared to 3,219 in November 2015, and 9,295 in November 2014," said IOM Italia spokesperson Flavio Di Giacomo.

As of 28 November, Nigeria remains the top sending country with 35,716 migrants colonists arriving in Italia in 2016, followed by Eritrea

National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
(20,000), Guinea (12,352), Cote d’Ivoire (11,406) and Gambia
... The Gambia is actually surrounded by Senegal on all sides but its west coast. It has a population of about 1.7 million. The difference between the two is that in colonial days Senegal was ruled by La Belle France and The Gambia (so-called because there's only one of it, unlike Guinea, of which there are the Republic of Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, New Guinea, the English coin in circulation between 1663 and 1813, and Guyana, which sounds like it should be another one) was ruled by Britain...

Libyan general Khalifa Haftar meets Russian minister to seek help
Khalifa Haftar, the military commander of Libya’s eastern government, has met Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov and said he was seeking Moscow’s help in his fight against Islamic militants at home.
Apparently he's been paying attention to Syria: who helps who and who stands by whom...
Haftar, on his second visit to Moscow since the summer, requested military support from the Kremlin in September, according to Russian media. It was unclear on Tuesday if such help would be forthcoming.
The UN still maintains an arms ban on Libya but I think Russia can be flexible about that...
“Our relations are crucial, our goal today is to give life to these relations,” the TASS news agency quoted Haftar as saying at the start of talks with Lavrov. “We hope we will eliminate terrorism with your help in the nearest future.”

Haftar, who is aligned with the eastern parliament and government based in Tobruk, has been fighting a two-year military campaign with his Libyan National Army against
...pretty much everyone else...
Islamic extremists and other opponents in Benghazi and elsewhere in the east.

Haftar told Lavrov he had met Russian defence minister Sergei Shoigu on Monday to tell him about his military needs. Haftar has received public backing from Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, and France sent special forces to work alongside Haftar’s Libyan National Army earlier this year. Recent military advances by Haftar’s forces have boosted his popularity at home.
Popularity doesn't pay the bills, and oil prices are low.
A UN arms embargo in place since 2011 prohibits the transfer of weapons into Libya. Only the country’s UN-backed government in Tripoli, which Haftar opposes, can bring in weapons and related material with the approval of a UN Security Council committee.

When asked, the Kremlin did not say whether it might offer Haftar any military support, describing the talks with him as business as usual.

“Moscow is in touch with various Libyan representatives and contacts with Haftar take place as part of this process,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

Haftar’s allies have previously cultivated ties with Russia, which printed banknotes for an eastern breakaway branch of Libya’s central bank. “We spoke in general,” Haftar told reporters after the talks with Lavrov.

“We explained our position with regards to arms supplies. As a great country, Russia respects the arms embargo until it indicates it is an unjust verdict.“

Russian president Vladimir Putin has blamed the west for pursuing policies that he said led to civil wars in Libya and Syria. Russia launched a military operation to support Syrian president Bashar al-Assad last year.

Boko Haram Refugees Find No Shelter in Remote Northern Cameroon
[VOA News] The U.N. refugee agency reports that thousands of Nigerian refugees massed along a remote border area in northern Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
are living in dire conditions, with little in the way of shelter and basic necessities.

Prevailing insecurity makes Cameroon’s isolated Far North Region generally out-of-bounds for aid workers. But, a rare break in the threatening environment made it possible for staff from the U.N. refugee agency to go there earlier this month and assess the situation.

UNHCR front man Leo Dobbs tells VOA the refugees, mostly women and kiddies, are living in abysmal conditions and remain under threat of attack by Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
hard boys.

"Some staying with destitute host families, but most sleeping in the open under the trees, makeshift shelters or on the dirt floors of schools," Dobbs said. "Others were in abandoned villages whose residents had fled Boko Haram attacks earlier. A number of families were separated while crossing into Cameroon."

Dobbs says the refugees are almost entirely dependent on the local community, which is itself poor. He says people lack health care and sanitation, safe drinking water and other basic services.

Dutch parliament approves partial ban on burqa and niqabs
[Dhaka Tribune] Dutch MPs on Tuesday voted by a large majority to approve a ban on wearing the Islamic full-face burqa in some public places such as schools and hospitals.

"The law is adopted," said the speaker of the Dutch Lower House of parliament, Khadija Arib, referring to the move which would also ban burqas from public transport.

The motion was approved by a majority of 132 out of the 150-seat house including Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s ruling Liberal-Labour coalition.

The legislation must now go before the Senate for approval before becoming law.
Here's hoping it passes.
It follows similar bans imposed in La Belle France and Belgium.

The Dutch cabinet had approved the plan in mid-2015. But it decided not to go as afar as banning wearing burqas on the street.
So the ladies, real and pretend, can cover their faces until they walk into a school or hospital. Snatch'n'grab shop robberies will no doubt continue as before.
The Dutch government said it decided to back the legislation due to a "necessity to be able to interact face-to-face, for instance in places where public services are performed and safety must be guaranteed."

"The government sees no need to impose the ban on all public spaces," it added.

Wearing safety equipment like helmets or full-face protection while working, playing sport or "during a festive or cultural event" is excluded from the ban.

Those flouting the ban would face a fine of up to 410 euros (around $430).

Public newscaster NOS said only between 100 to 500 women in The Netherlands wear the burqa, most of them occasionally.

The Dutch government’s advisory State Council body had however said it believed issues around the Islamic veil could be solved "without invoking legislation".

"From time-to-time there’s discussion about it... but it’s not really a big social problem," it said in a letter published in mid-2015.

Taqiyya: White House Warns Against Blaming Religion of Islam After Ohio State Attack
This is not ignorance, it is promotion of the evil embraced by leftists. Not only do you not protect the people against Islam it you actively import it for various reason.
[Breitbart] The Obama Administration is warning America not to cast blame on Muslims after a student at Ohio State University launched an attack on innocent civilians that was likely inspired by Islamic State terrorists.

"Our response to this situation matters," White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest explained to reporters during the press briefing. "If we respond to this situation by casting aspersions on millions of people that adhere to a particular religion or if we increase our suspicion of people who practice a particular religion, we are more likely going to contribute to acts of violence than we are to prevent them.

#9  C'mon, really?
if we increase our suspicion of people who practice a particular religion, we are more likely going to contribute to acts of violence than we are to prevent them

I abhor the thought (now fact) that the best minds of Rantburg are presenting justifying rational based upon an oral, historical (hysterical) mythology that has been repeated and corrupted over a span of more than 50 generation.

A belief system, sure, as credible and verifiable as "Frodo lives!" or rain frogs breed in clouds.

This is a minority subculture becoming mainstream thanks in part to the ease of travel and information flow. Its followers may have been rooted in a oppressed, protein deprived nomadic society but the organic causes of current violent acts have nothing to do with religion. That is simply a framework for the primitive expression of 'them not like us' embraced by the disenfranchised seeking group identity. Violence binds haters and provides them a cause.

Not much different than Tory vs. Whig, or Catholic vs. Protestant as exercises in political expressionism.

In any case, 'the whiney shits are fucking with the way I chose to live my life'. If they can't be reasonable their lifelights can be extinguished.

Ohio State University attacker a Muslim student angry at US 'interference'
[DAWN] A university student whose family immigrated from Somalia rammed his car Monday into a crowd at Ohio State University and attacked them with a butcher knife, injuring 11 before police fatally shot him.

Identifying the assailant as Abdul Razak Ali Artan, officials in the northern US state said he appeared to have acted alone in what was being investigated as a possible terror attack.

He also appears to have made an anti-US posting on Facebook minutes before the attack, on a page that was quickly disabled or taken down by authorities, US media said.

"I can't take it any more. America! Stop interfering with other countries, especially the Moslem Ummah. We are not weak. We are not weak, remember that," the post quoted by ABC television said, using a term referring to the global community of Moslems.

"If you want us Moslems to stop carrying lone wolf attacks, then make peace," the post reads. "We will not let you sleep unless you give peace to the Moslems."

#5  The specific complaint was a lack of enough prayer rooms at Ohio State, which is complete BS.

When I was working at Wells Fargo in Minneapolis, there were a lot of Somalis that worked at this facility. They were allowed to use an unoccupied conference room for prayers, and there were no complaints or protests.

All these complaints are completely made up.

Catholic Charities Resettled Muslim Who Waged Jihad at Ohio State Univ
It was June 5, 2014 when a young teenager named Abul Razak Ali Artan arrived in Dallas with his mother and six siblings. A little more than two years before he was the suspect in a violent knife attack on the Ohio State campus.

'We gave them aid and comfort and some shelter as part of the government resettlement program,' explained Catholic Charities C.E.O. Dave Woodyard.

The Somali immigrants arrived from Pakistan at D/FW International Airport via JFK International Airport. Catholic Charities says someone from the organization likely picked the family up from the airport when they arrived.

According to Catholic Charities of Dallas records, the family was in temporary housing in Dallas for 23 days, leaving June 28, 2014.

'Then they emigrated. Left, and moved onto Columbus, Ohio,' Woodyard said. 'And that’s when we closed our file.'

Woodyard said that file will now be shared with the Columbus Police Department in its investigation of Monday’s attack.

Woodyard points out that refugees are vetted by the U.S. Department of State before they arrive in the United States and that organizations like Catholic Charities are there to help them assimilate and start new lives."
How many pieces of taxpayer silver did you receive for your services, Mr. Woodyard?

#11  All human organizations of good, eventually become evil. And then at times good again. That is why the temple veil was ripped upon the crucifixion. True Christianity is to be a very personal issue, un-beholden to any community. It was announced to Pilot by Christ at the inquisition, "My Kingdom is not of this world." Clearly for good reason. While Islam has lone wolves, Christians are considered lone lambs. That is not a weakness, because of the ultimate power over evil held by their Shepard. Have a nice day.

#15  It's not just Catholic Charities doing the resettlements. Lots of "charities" and lawyers involved. It's the government monies that are paying for US taxpayers to fly refugees over and then pay them all sorts of benefits when they get here that need to be addressed.

I think even the immigrants settled here then turn around and start businesses resettling more of them for our tax dollars.

It really needs to be addressed.

Earlier, the CTD police registered an FIR of the killing of DSP Shigri against unidentified suspects on the complaint of the maimed policeman, Abdul Rasheed, who was driving the official car of the officer.

Just over an hour before DSP Shigri’s murder, the same suspects had killed the trader belonging to the Ahmadi community, Sheikh Sajid Mahmud, 55, near his home in Kaneez Fatima Society, Gulzar-e-Hijri. "Sheikh Mahmud, who dealt in spare parts for flour mills, was killed for his faith," said the spokesperson of the Jamaat Ahmadiyya, Saleemuddin, in a statement on Monday.

The murder of a third Ahmadi man in the same neighbourhood this year indicated "a planned action against the Ahmadis", he said, recalling that Daud Ahmad and Chaudhry Khaleeq were rubbed out in the same vicinity on May 25 and June 20, respectively.

He expressed the concern that violence and social boycott were preached against the Ahmadis while the authorities let this happen despite the fact that hate propaganda was apparently banned under National Action Plan.

ASWJ chief allowed to contest Jhang by-election
[DAWN] LAHORE: A full bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday allowed Maulana Mohammed Ahmad Ludhianvi, emir of the banned Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat
...which is the false nose and plastic mustache of the murderous banned extremist group Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain, whatcha might call the political wing of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi...
(ASWJ), to contest by-election from PP-78 (Jhang).

The bench headed by Justice Shahid Jamil Khan issued the interim order on a petition of Mr Ludhianvi challenging a decision of a two-judge bench that had disqualified him from contesting the by-poll.

Extending the interim relief to Mr Ludhianvi on the grounds to be announced later, the bench issued notices to the respondents of the case and fixed Dec 14 for further hearing.

Assembly’s constituency had fallen vacant after the Supreme Court disqualified Rashida Yaqoob of the Pakistain Moslem League-N (PML-N) for concealing assets while upholding a decision of an election tribunal in October. She was elected to the assembly in the 2013 general elections and runner-up candidate Mr Ludhianvi had challenged her election.

Then the Election Commission of Pakistain (ECP) announced that it would hold by-poll in the constituency on Dec 1 for which Mr Ludhianvi as well as Ms Yaqoob also filed their nomination papers. However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
this time Ms Yaqoob was an independent candidate.

The PML-N gave its ticket to Sheikh Sheraz Akram. On a petition filed by him, the two-judge bench on Nov 11 restrained both Ms Yaqoob and Mr Ludhianvi from contesting the by-poll.

Mr Akram had argued that the name of Mr Ludhianvi was included in a list of fourth-schedule and more than a dozen criminal cases were registered against him.

He had also pointed out discrepancy in details of the assets provided by Mr Ludhianvi to the ECP in connection with the 2013 general elections and the upcoming by-poll.

At a later stage, Mr Akram withdrew his candidature and was replaced by Haji Azad Nasir Ansari as PML-N candidate.

Mr Ludhianvi had challenged the decision contending that FIRs registered against him were not in his knowledge when he filed his nomination papers. He had requested the court to allow him to contest the by-poll and set aside the two-judge bench’s decision.

[DAWN] Police Sherlocks on Tuesday submitted a plea before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Bloody Karachi

The plea was submitted by an investigation officer in Karachi's anti-terrorism court on Tuesday, the plea also requested the court to categorise the case as 'A-Class' as police officials failed to produce and submit any substantial evidence.

The plea submitted by the police was accepted by the ATC, which will now decide over the matter.

If a case is categorised as A-Class, the investigation process of the case is suspended until any substantial evidence is submitted by law enforcement agencies (LEAs).

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Russia should foot Syria reconstruction bill, sez Euro leaders
European leaders, notably the French, are privately warning Vladimir Putin that if he permits Syria’s president, Bashar al-Assad, to turn an expected capture of Aleppo into a military victory across most of the country, it will be up to Russia to foot the bill for reconstruction.
That is so extraordinarily funny and blindingly stupid that it must have come from a Benny Hill sketch...
“What Russia breaks is what Moscow will have to fix,” said one western diplomat, adding that the EU in reality was the only player with the resources to restore the fabric and infrastructure of a country torn apart by a five-year-long civil war.

Estimates of the cost of reconstructing Syria range from a World Bank projection of $180bn, made in April, to far larger sums. Russian reports have suggested Putin wants to internationalise a kind of Marshall plan for Syria, with responsibility shared between the EU, Saudi Arabia, Iran and China.
Sure. The Saudis have no money now that oil prices have cratered. Iran has money but wants to spend it on their military, revolutionary guard, and nuclear weapons. China doesn't give away anything. Hmmm, who's the pigeon at this card game?
But western diplomats have made clear the EU will not sign any cheques for a country run by a man accused of multiple war crimes and the mass murder of his citizens. As they run out of cards to play, they admit their chief leverage with Russia may be the cost of reconstruction.
I don't think Russia is too worried about leaving Syria in ruins so long as Pencilneck has his spending allowance...
The warnings to Moscow play into the desperate diplomatic efforts still under way to try to end the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding at speed in Aleppo. The UN’s special envoy to Syria, Staffan De Mistura, warned on Tuesday: “Clearly, I cannot deny - this is a military acceleration and I can’t tell you how long eastern Aleppo will last.”

France and Britain have called for another meeting of the UN security council in New York, with the French foreign minister, Jean-Marc Ayrault, saying he would press for a UN resolution to punish the use of chemical weapons in Syria. Ayrault said on Tuesday a way had to be found to prevent Syrian government forces and their allies from carrying out one of the “biggest massacres on a civilian population since [the second world war]”. “This [security council] meeting would have to find a way to deal with the humanitarian situation and see how we can get aid in. We have to find a way,” he told Reuters.

Among the proposals being discussed behind the scenes is the possibility that diplomats from a range of countries could accompany a humanitarian convoy into Aleppo. A similar exercise occurred in the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo when it was under siege in the mid-1990s.
Sure. Just not American diplomats...
Paris has a high-level ministerial meeting planned for December bringing together foreign ministers of countries supporting the moderate Syrian opposition, including the US and Britain, as well as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan.

But, aside from the bid to sanction Syria for the use of chemical weapons, no obvious new diplomatic initiative is emerging.

There is in private growing recognition that it might not take Assad and supporting forces much longer now to take Aleppo, and then to capture Idlib, which would then be the main remaining opposition-held town. The scale of Iranian artillery and the Russian air cover combine to represent overwhelming odds.

But western diplomats are warning Russia that even if Aleppo fell and the trade route to the south reopened, the Syrian rebellion would turn from a war of territory into an insurgency – in essence a guerrilla campaign conducted with arms supplied by the rebels’ sponsors such as Saudi Arabia. The prospect is that there will be a low-level civil war continuing for years, as it did in Lebanon.
That's just the kind of conflict that Pencilneck is really good at conducting...
The Syrian foreign minister, Walid al-Muallem, in Moscow this week promised that Russian companies could receive priority in the allocation of contracts for the restoration. But Moscow, wary of the bills, and anyway short of cash due to the depressed oil price, is understood to have declined the offer.

The Russian leader’s reluctance to own the peace may give the EU an opening it has lacked in the latter days of the war, diplomats say.
To be suckers...

#5  From here it looks like a lot of Moslems snuffing other Moslems. Putin isn't likely to pay for any holes in the ground . Those two statements appear to be facts.

And the French can't enforce anything, that, in general, is what France is all about.

That does appear to be why the French and EU demands are a joke.

Human Catastrophe has a nice ring to it don't you think? Moslems, mostly. A LOT of dead Moslems at the bottom of that hole. No one is going to rebuild Syria. Its a hole. Fill it with dead Moslems. Popcorn sounds good.

(The Other) Columbia pledges to shelter illegal immigrants from Trump
[CampusReform] - Columbia University has caved to demands for a "sanctuary campus," saying it will protect illegal immigrants from customs officials and work to bolster their financial aid.

- Following two student petitions, Provost John Coatsworth reassured students that Columbia would not cooperate with the incoming Trump administration.
Maybe these yahoos should look up the word "cooperate?"
"[When] we saw the election results, we knew immediately that they (students) were in danger."

Columbia University has caved to demands for a "sanctuary campus," saying it will protect illegal immigrants from customs officials and work to bolster their financial aid.
Yeah, good luck with that. The Snowflakes may come to understand the concept of "Resource Allocation."
"The presidential election has prompted intense concern for the values we hold dear and for members of our community who are apprehensive about what the future holds," Provost John Coatsworth wrote in a campus-wide email.

He went on to declare that his "university will neither allow immigration officials on our campus without a warrant, nor share information on the immigration status of undocumented students with those officials unless required by subpoena or court order."
