[Daily Caller] The California Senate Democrats has approved a multi-billion-dollar increase in the state’s gas tax to pay for road and infrastructure projects.
The so-called Road Repair and Accountability Act would ratchet up the state’s gas tax by 12 cents a gallon, and raise the tax on diesel fuel by 20 cents a gallon. It also etches out an additional charge to annual vehicle license fees ranging from $25 to $175 depending on the car’s value.
The Senate passed the bill, 27-11 on Thursday. Republicans did not support the measure.
Gov. Jerry Brown, a Democrat, supports the measure and says it will raise $52 billion for transportation projects, including repairs to roads and bridges. He told reporters Tuesday the increase will save California taxpayers money in the long run.

Every time they have a gas tax increase it's to pay for road and infrastructure projects.

It's always the same con, focused purpose, strict accountability ! And it's always the same accounting tricks and layered up Diversionary tactics. After it passes, other general fund dollars are diverted from transportation projects so the actual net expenditure level on transportation remains the same. My favorite dodge is the "borrowing" from the transportation budget for urgent general fund needs. And note that every penny goes to union contractors after often dubious bidding, and priority goes to LA and SF area projects. As for accountability, try and google the last civil servant prosecuted for malfeasance or graft about transportation issues! Democrat socialism sucks every time it runs things, and it has ruined what was once paradise......

U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to order a missile strike on Syria brought rare criticism on Friday from French far-right leader Marine Le Pen, who has until now viewed the American leader as an ideological soulmate.
..."I am a little surprised because Trump had said repeatedly that he didn't intend the United States to be the world's policeman any longer and that is exactly what he did yesterday," Le Pen told France 2 television.
..."Is it too much to ask to wait for the results of an independent international investigation (into Tuesday's attack) before carrying out this kind of strike?" Le Pen asked.
She said she didn't want a repeat of events in Iraq and Libya where she said Western intervention had "brought chaos and ended up strengthening ... terrorist organizations."

..."Is it too much to ask to wait for the results of an independent international investigation (into Tuesday's attack) before carrying out this kind of strike?" Le Pen asked.
No, we cannot wait five to ten years for the conclusion of UN investigation, if any, with the end result being a sternly worded letter, or nothing.
[NYT 6 April 2017 via Reuters] In her first interview since her stunning presidential election defeat by Republican rival Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton on Thursday called for the United States to bomb Syrian air fields.
Clinton, in an interview at the Women in the World Summit in New York, also called Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election a theft more damaging than Watergate.
Asked whether she now believes that failing to take a tougher stand against Syria was her worst foreign policy mistake as secretary of state under President Barack Obama, Clinton said she favored more aggressive action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
"I think we should have been more willing to confront Assad," Clinton said in the interview, conducted by New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof.
"I really believe we should have and still should take out his air fields and prevent him from being able to use them to bomb innocent people and drop sarin gas on them."
Clinton noted that she had advocated for a no-fly zone in Syria after leaving government, something that Obama opposed.

So the attack is polling well, and Hillary! thinks Trump makes better decisions than Barry. Got it.
I too am suspicious of the authenticity of a sarin attack, as in the ISJV are the kind of arses who would gas people for propaganda purposes, and they have been working on their own chemical weapons.
