Senator Points To ‘Material Inconsistencies' In Comey's Statements On Trump Dossier
[Daily Caller] Ahead of a highly anticipated Senate hearing later this week, FBI Director James Comey is being accused of making inconsistent statements about the bureau’s relationship with Christopher Steele, the ex-British spy behind the Trump dossier.
Oh dear.
Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, made the allegation in a letter sent to Comey on Friday.

"There appear to be material inconsistencies between the description of the FBI’s relationship with Mr. Steele that you did provide in your briefing and information contained in Justice Department documents made available to the Committee only after the briefing," Grassley wrote to Comey. Grassley will have a chance to quiz Comey on the issue on Wednesday, when the FBI chief testifies before the Judiciary Committee in a routine oversight hearing.

Indicted Fmr Dem Rep. Corrine Brown Spent Campaign Cash After Primary Loss
[FREEBEACON] The campaign committee of former Rep. Corrine Brown (D., Fla.), who is currently on trial for corruption charges, spent thousands on hotels and small travel expenses after Brown was defeated in the Democratic primary last year.

Brown, who lost to former Florida State Sen. Al Lawson in the August 2016 primary, spent $11,278 on "lodging" at a Marriot Hotel in Bethesda, Maryland in late September 2016, nearly one month after the election.

In addition to the hotel expenditures, the campaign disclosed three "petty cash" transactions totaling more than $2,000 during the two-week span between October 16 and November 4.

A small amount ($185) also was spent on travel expenses in Houston, Texas and Jacksonville, Florida.

Thousands more were spent on more typical transactions following an election loss, such as payments to campaign vendors.

Brown and her chief of staff, Elias "Ronnie" Simmons, were indicted in July 2016 on 24 counts of fraud stemming from a sham foundation created by the former congresswoman.

More than $800,000 was deposited into Brown's Virginia-based foundation, One Door for Education, which spent only $1,200 on charity.

Federal authorities found that Brown, Elias, and Carla Wiley, the foundation's president, spent $200,000 of the group's funds on luxury vacations, NFL tickets, plane tickets, car repairs, and lavish events.

Wiley pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud in March 2016. Simmons pleaded guilty to fraud in February.

An FBI agent testified Wednesday against Brown, saying the money was taken from her foundation and put into a bank account shared by Brown and her daughter.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Some Forget the Putin Connection Explanation
[TheFinancialExpress] A group of top Democratic Party strategists have used new data about last year's presidential election to reach a startling conclusion about why Hillary Clinton lost. Now they just need to persuade the rest of the party they're right, according to the Tribune Washington Bureau.

Many Democrats have a shorthand explanation for Clinton's defeat: Her base didn't turn out, Donald Trump's did and the difference was too much to overcome.
But it was all due to Putin's meddling, right?
But new information shows that Clinton had a much bigger problem with voters who had supported President Barack Obama in 2012 but backed Trump four years later.
Didn't Obama say the election was a referendum on his term? Apparently, the Dems didn't believe him.
Those Obama-Trump voters effectively accounted for more than two-thirds of the reason Clinton lost, according to Matt Canter, a senior vice president of the Democratic political firm Global Strategy Group. In his group's analysis, about 70 percent of Clinton's failure to reach Obama's vote total in 2012 was because she lost these voters.
Who thought O was going to give them what they wanted, but couldn't stand Shrillary.
"We have to make sure we learn the right lesson from 2016, that we don't just draw the lesson that makes us feel good at night, make us sleep well at night," Canter said.
The 'Putin Connection' didn't keep you awake at night?
His firm's conclusion is shared broadly by other Democrats who have examined the data, including senior members of Clinton's campaign and officials at the Democratic data and analytics firm Catalist. (The New York Times, in its own analysis, reached a similar conclusion.)
Well, there you have it! The details of the super-sophisticated analysis they used to arrive at this shocking conclusion, after six months of sleeping well at night with Putin pulling the strings, is revealed in the remainder of the article.

Venezuela's Maduro hikes minimum wage amid rising protests
Ay-Pee. Trying to bribe and buy loyalty so he doesn't get Musollini'd
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro hiked wages and handed out hundreds of free homes Sunday amid his efforts to counter a strengthening protest movement seeking his removal.

On his regular television show, "Sundays with Maduro," the president ordered a 60 percent increase in the country's minimum wage starting Monday. It was the third pay increase the socialist leader has ordered this year and the 15th since he became president in 2013.
When the businesses don't have any money, or goods for sale, it doesn't matter what the "minimum wage" is, it's ZERO. Idiot
It is small solace to workers who seen the buying power of their earnings eroded by a sinking currency and the world's highest inflation - forecast to accelerate to 2,000 percent next year, according to the International Monetary Fund.
So, you only lost 1940% next year
With the latest wage increase and mandatory food subsidies, the minimum take home pay for millions of Venezuelans now stands at 200,000 bolivars a month - or less than $50 at the widely used black market rate.

"We're here to take care of the workers, those who are most humble, and not the privileges of the oligarchs," Maduro said.

In addition to the pay hike, he announced a special "economic war" bonus to retirees to make up for what he says are attempts by the opposition to sabotage the economy.

The president also watched as officials in several states handed over the keys to hundreds of new apartments, some built with Chinese funding, bringing to 1.6 million the number of public housing units built by a program started by the late President Hugo Chavez.

Susan Rice: Who, me? I didn't "misuse" any of that intel I got on Trump's people
[HotAir] Anyone noticing anything different in this version of the tale?

You may recall that when the story first broke Rice spoke to Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC and at least heavily implied that Trump’s initial accusations were all some sort of fever swamp fantasies. (What she actually said was that she never leaked anything.) But before very long the details which emerged told a very different story. Within days it was revealed that she had, in fact, actively sought to have names revealed to her even if they had originally been picked up "incidentally."

Eventually we reached the point where the best they could say was that it appeared that she hadn’t done anything that was technically illegal."

#4  hadn’t done anything that was technically illegal

Of course. Hitmen only kill people who were already dead when the contract was let, and, in reality, the bullet did the killing.

Likewise, that guy at the state pen only throws the switch. As one of the witnesses at the hangings of the In Cold Blood killers said when a reporter asked "Does the executioner have a name?"

"Yeah. 'We the People...'"

Posted by: JohnQC || 05/01/2017 9:34 Comments || Top||

#9  Perhaps her thinking is that technically, legally, there is a difference between leaking the intel herself and causing it to be leaked by one or more of her underlings. That little bit of hair splitting just might be enough to keep her out of jail.

No need to "pull the racist/sexist card." It is now simply assumed.

#2  He was so overconfident that he assured Trump he had the votes.

Really!?! So exactly how does the author know about this dynamic? Answer; More than likely he has no clue as to any personal assurances of the sort. It was generally accepted passing legislation was a crap-shoot from the get. In agenda journalism that's what's called the setup line.
