Somali PM visits combat troops at Balli Doogle base
[SHABELLENEWS] Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire and a delegation he is leading is paying a short visit to Lower Shabelle region, to boost moral of the troops fighting against Al shabaab.

Sources said PM Khaire will spend hours with soldiers who have been battling the al-Qaeda linked al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
fighters for years during which some of their comrades were killed.

During his stay at Balli Doogle Airbase, a former air force training base, 110kms south-west of Mogadishu, Khaire is set to meet with the chiefs of armed forces forces, to discuss the war on Al shabaab.

The military base is housing for 1,500 soldiers driven out of Mogadishu few days ago by the government after staging a short-lived mutiny in protest of their unpaid salaries.

About IS in Puntland
[IsraelTimes] The semi-autonomous region of Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
has often come under attack by Shabaab Death Eaters and is also home to a breakaway group of fighters who have declared allegiance to IS.

However the group has so far failed to gather much support while the Shabaab have taken pains to purge those expressing pro-IS sentiment from their ranks.

The Death Eaters are led by former Shabaab holy man Abdiqadir Mumin who switched allegiance from al-Qaeda to IS in October 2015 and was named a "global terrorist" by the US State Department in August.

Aside from issuing occasional promotional videos, the group seized the small fishing town of Qandala before being ousted by Puntland forces in December.

Then in February IS claimed an attack by gunnies on a hotel in Bosaso which left four security guards dead.

Rashid Abdi of the International Crisis Group said that while Mumin’s group was stepping up its activities, the Shabaab remained the biggest threat in the region.

Firebrand preacher
Mumin was born in Puntland and lived in Sweden before moving to the UK in the 2000s, where he was granted British citizenship.

In London and Leicester, he developed a reputation as a firebrand
...firebrands are noted more for audio volume and the quantity of spittle generated than for any actual logic in their arguments...
preacher at murderous Moslem mosques and in videos posted online.

Monitored by MI5, Britannia’s domestic intelligence agency, Mumin is thought to have known Mohammed Emwazi, the IS executioner nicknamed "Jihadi John," and Michael Adebolajo, one of two people convicted over the 2013 murder of British soldier Lee Rigby in London.

In 2010, Mumin traveled to Somalia to join the Shabaab -- which both Emwazi and Adebolajo had unsuccessfully tried to do.

He initially served as a holy man and propagandist before taking control of the Puntland faction of the Shabaab and later defecting to IS with a handful of fighters -- despite lacking battlefield experience.

Observers say his supporters are mostly made up of members of his own Majerteen clan, and the very existence of Mumin’s group is attributed to complex local clan rivalries.

The International Crisis Group estimated in November that his group counted some 200 members and warned the threat of IS could not be "dismissed as insignificant."

The group called for a "genuine political initiative to address local clan grievances."

Arabia
Saudi Arabia defends Bahrain’s deadly crackdown
[Iran Press TV] Human rights groups have condemned Bahrain for its deadly crackdown on people in the village of Diraz, but the Saudi regime has come to Manama’s defense, saying the Bahraini kingdom is "an integral part" of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
's security.

A source in the Saudi Foreign Ministry said the security of Bahrain "is an integral part" of Saudi security, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

"The source affirmed the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the measures being taken," including in the northwestern village of Diraz, the official news agency said.

According to the source, the measures are allegedly to "address all terrorist attempts aimed at destabilizing and damaging" security and order.

Thousands of anti-regime protesters have held numerous demonstrations in Bahrain on an almost daily basis ever since a popular uprising began in the kingdom in early February 2011. They are demanding that the Al Khalifah dynasty relinquish power and a just system representing all Bahrainis be established.

5 killed, 286 held in Bahrain raid on Shiite cleric's town

Book 'im, Mahmoud!
286 people in an assault in which officers fired tear gas and shotguns at protesters in a town that is home to a prominent Shiite holy man facing possible deportation. At least five demonstrators were killed and others maimed.

The Interior Ministry said the operation targeting Diraz, home to Sheikh Isa Qassim and a long-running sit-in supporting him, was to "maintain security and public order." It called the area a "haven for wanted runaways from justice."

Activists shared photographs and videos showing youths throwing stones and climbing on an armored personnel carrier. Another video showed a bulldozer smashing through the area that once hosted the sit-in.

The Interior Ministry said 19 security forces were maimed.

Amnesia Amnesty International later said Qassim was not arrested.

Qatar Destroys Unanimity Image of Riyadh Summit
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Whether the statements attributed to Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
Emir were true or the they were published on the website of the Qatari news agency (QNA) via hackers, the political scene which resulted from the media war on Wednesday confirms that the unanimity image of Riyadh summit was falsely promoted by Al Saud regime.

The latest reports stress that UAE banned the Qatari news websites on its cyber system and that Saudi, Emirates and Bahrain withdrew their envoys to Doha which indicates that the diplomatic escalation proves the depth of the political rifts among the Gulf countries.

According to statements attributed to the Qatari leader, Emir Hamad Al Thani said that Iran is a major Islamic force which has an important role in the region and that Hezbollah is a resistance group.

According to the statements, Al Thani also considered that it is unwise to confront Iran, adding that some neighboring countries have ambitions in Qatar.

Later, QNA announced that its website was hacked and that the statements are untrue; however, the Saudi and Emirati media outlets insisted on lashing out the Qatari statements, accusing Doha of causing partition among the Arab countries.

KSA and UAE media outlets also considered that Doha devoted all its capabilities to be the voice of the murderous Moslem groups, describing the Qatari step as a disaster.

Manchester terrorist's sister: He wanted to avenge Muslim kids
The sister of of terrorist Salman Abedi, the terrorist who committed the attack at a Manchester concert hall earlier this week, said that her brother’s act was one of revenge for the killing of Muslim children in Syria.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Jomana Abedi said that she was surprised that her brother had carried out the attack, as she had known him to be a "kind" and "loving" person.

However, she went on to explain that she believed his act to be one of "revenge."

"I think he saw children - Muslim children - dying everywhere, and wanted revenge," she said.

"He saw the explosives America drops on children in Syria, and he wanted to revenge.
And here I thought it's all about Israeli occupation of Palestine.

UK Muslim leaders in Manchester report rise in Islamophobic incidents
[Iran Press TV] Local Moslem leaders in Manchester have expressed concern
...meaning the brow was mildly wrinkled, the eyebrows drawn slightly together, and a thoughtful expression assumed, not that anything was actually done or indeed that any thought was actually expended...
about rising Islamophobic incidents and hate crimes against Moslems following the terror attack in the British city.

A front man for the Manchester Islamic Center, also known as the Didsbury Mosque, said Wednesday that the terrorist attack in the city on Monday has no place in any religion.

"The horrific atrocity that occurred in Manchester on Monday night has shocked us all," said Fawzi Haffar. "We encourage anyone, and I repeat we encourage anyone, who may have information about the individual involved to contact the police without any delay."

Haffar.also criticized some media reports for manufacturing unfounded anti-Moslem stories.

An arsonist targeted a mosque in the town of Oldham in Greater Manchester on Tuesday, sparking fears of a rise in hate crimes. CCTV footage shows a man walking to the front door and setting the Jamia Qasmia Zahidia Islamic Center on fire.
Golly. They're going to have to buy a new front door and have it installed. Not much of a hate crime wave.
This is while Moslem communities in Britannia have condemned the Manchester terror attack and raised funds to distribute among the victims.

At least 22 people bit the dust when 22-year-old Salman Abedi allegedly detonated his explosives at a concert hall in Manchester on Monday.

#8  This is interesting. In the past Mark Steyn and others have argued that immigration was the only was to preserve European socialism. When you don't have babies, it's the only way to preserve the broad tax base that supports generous benefits.

But if your immigrants consume more than half of all revenue, then it can't be about supporting revenue. Maybe at this point it's more desperate. Maybe now the only thing that matters is importing enough votes to keep you and your crony friends in office.

Erdogan: We’ll wish Turkey-based German troops happy journey if they leave
[Iran Press TV] Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan says it would not be "a major issue" for Turkey if Germany decided to pull out its troops from the Anatolian country.
They're going to take their stuff with them, right?
Erdogan made the remarks on Wednesday before flying to a NATO summit with European Union leaders in Brussels.

"We have not been officially notified by Germany that it is going to leave to Jordan from the Incirlik base... But if they do so, then for us it's not a problem. If they leave, we'll tell them happy journey," he added.

On Saturday, German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen announced that an airbase in Jordan shows potential as a replacement for Turkey's Incirlik base.

Nato breaks partnership deadlock after Turkish veto
[DAWN] NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
reached a deal on Tuesday to unblock partnerships with around 40 non-member countries which had been paralysed by a dispute between The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and Austria, officials said.

Turkey, with the second-biggest military in NATO, had vetoed all cooperation with neutral Austria after Vienna called for the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
to halt membership talks with Ankara.

That in turn blocked the whole partnership programme with dozens of other non-NATO countries covering most of Europe, plus many countries in the Middle East and Asia.

But on Monday the 28 NATO nations agreed to change the system so that cooperation "will be planned on an individual basis, rather than collectively," said a NATO official who asked not to be identified.

"This will substantially reduce the risk of blockages to cooperation with partners across the board," he said. Turkey is expected to uphold its veto on Austrian participation, officials said.

She was murdered in her turn by person or persons unknown while campaigning in late 2007. International Airport on Monday.

The airline management has also started profiling of its staff to unearth the culprits.

However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
19 individuals, including PIA catering, security and cleaning staff members, who had been taken into custody for investigation by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), were on Tuesday allowed to go home.

The 19 staff members investigated by the ANF included three women cabin cleaners who were on duty with the PIA flight PK-785 at the airport.

According to a source, after the release of the 19 individuals, seven other PIA staff members were called for investigation on Tuesday.

However,

none of them has been charged so far.

Our enemies will remember our response to their misadventures: Air Force chief
[DAWN] Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman said on Monday that Pakistain will give a "befitting response" to any misadventure "from the enemy".

Replying to a question about the Indian air chief’s recent statement directing his soldiers to "be ready for action at a short notice," the air chief said Pakistain was a peace-loving country, but if the adversary went for any misadventure, "our response to any aggression by the enemy will be such that their future generations will also remember it."

He made the remarks after taking part in Air Force exercises and flying a Mirage fighter jet while on a visit to the Qadri Air Base in Skardu. The Air chief also reviewed the exercises and operational preparedness of Pakistain Air Force (PAF).

The air chief said the exercises were the part of PAF’s routine training, adding: "PAF is a battle-hardened force and we continue to ensure our operational preparedness 24/7."

Aman said PAF had proven to be the best in the world by carrying out Operation Zarb-e-Azb
..the Pak offensive against Qaeda in Pakistain and the Pak Taliban in North Wazoo. The name refers to the sword of the Prophet (PTUI!)...
in a highly professional manner for the last two and an half years, without even a single incident of collateral damage.
