[BREITBART] Taliban ...Arabic for students... jihadists in Afghanistan are increasingly targeting Islamic scholars, known as Learned Elders of Islam, to silence dissent and criticism as the terrorist group continues to capture territory and expand its influence across the country.
"The reason the Taliban resort to such acts is that they want to make sure their legitimacy is not questioned by the sermons of these Learned Elders of Islam," Mohammad Moheq, a prominent Afghan scholar of religion who also serves as an adviser to Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani ...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. .. , told the New York Times ...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... "The only thing that undermines their legitimacy is the ability and power of these Learned Elders of Islam if they preach and argue against them," added Moheq. "Only they can challenge the Taliban’s ideology, not the liberal scholars or others, and the Taliban understand that."
"The reason these Learned Elders of Islam are getting targeted is because they tell the truth -- and the truth is that the ongoing fighting is just for power," noted Mawlawi Khudai Nazar Mohammedi, the chief of the Ulema Council in Taliban stronghold Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... province, located along the Pakistain border next to Kandahar province, the birthplace of the terrorist group.

[NPR.ORG] They'd have a better chance if they changed their name to Hargesia or something. Take away Somaliland and Puntland and the remainder of Somalia becomes the Ethiopian Riviera.

The Northern and Southern Tribes have been at war since African independence in ~1954. The Southern half allowed over a million Northern people to starve shortly there after. Different religions and tribes. If you are really interested read the following book. After reading it I gained a great respect for Mandela.

[Asharq al-Aswat] Libya’s eastern military commander General Khalifa Haftar ... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all... again accused on Monday Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates... of supporting terrorist groups in Libya, while Egyptian and Libyan warplanes continued attacking positions and arms caches in several Libyan cities controlled by those groups.
In a message addressed to the entire Libyan Army units, Haftar said that Qatar, in addition to other states that he refused to mention, were handing large sums of money to the terrorist militias, adding that he had ordered that foreigners should not be allowed to carry arms inside Libya.
"The Libyan army recorded the arrival of citizens from Chad, Sudan and other African and Arab states to the country. They entered Libya due to lack of control over the borders. They received money from Qatar, as well as other countries and terrorist groups," he added.
Haftar’s statement said: "Any foreigner carrying arms in Libya will be nabbed Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw! and punished collectively or individually."
Meanwhile, ...back at the laboratory the smoke and fumes had dispersed, to reveal an ominous sight... Egyptian and Libyan warplanes shelled for the third consecutive day, terrorist positions in the area of Jafrat, while Egypt continued its Arclight airstrikes carried on Derna since last Friday following the shooting of Coptic Christians in Minya in Upper Egypt, which resulted in the death of 29 civilians.
In the latest related development, forces loyal to Libya’s UN-backed unity government seized control of Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... ’s international airport and Russian and Egyptian officials held talks in Cairo.
Russia affirmed its support for Egypt in its war against terrorism, during the visit of Russian Foreign and Defense Ministers, Sergei Lavrov and Sergey Shoigu to Cairo, where they met with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.
For his part, the Egyptian president said challenges facing the Middle East require that both countries work together to eliminate terrorism and reinstall stability in the region.

Egypt started its campaign against turbans after the killing of Coptic Christians in Egypt last week. On Friday gunnies, disguised as soldiers, opened fire on worshippers traveling to a monastery south of Cairo, killing 29. The Christian minority has been the frequent target of recent attacks. Cairo blamed the Libyan wing of ISIS and pledged to protect people, but the situation on the ground in Libya is complicated.

[Breitbart] German Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière has praised the U.S. and President Donald Trump for "outstanding" cooperation on intelligence matters regarding radical Islamic terrorism.
Mr. de Maizière said it was of "outstanding importance" the intelligence agencies in both Germany and the U.S. worked together to combat radical Islamist extremism. He said the Trump administration has been both "highly professional" and "outstanding" in regard to intelligence cooperation, Die Welt reports.
Maizière made the remarks at a symposium of the Federal Office for Constitutional Protection (BfV), Germany’s domestic intelligence agency.
Hans-Georg Maassen, head of the BfV, also stressed the importance of cooperation between the two countries saying that U.S. agencies are a "very important source of knowledge" and added: "I say that we need each other."
"Europe is the target of Islamic state terrorism," Maassen said adding: "In our opinion, Germany has been prioritised by the Islamic State."
[Asharq al-Aswat] Ten days after the presidential elections, repercussions of the electoral campaigns still threaten of wider divisions in Tehran. On Monday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani was offended by his rivals: defeated presidential candidate Ebrahim Raisi and head of Judiciary Sadeq Larijani.
In his first speech after losing the elections, Raisi said on Sunday that Rouhani’s government has committed huge violations through tampering the elections.
"I ask the Guardian Council and the judiciary not to let the people’s rights get trampled. If this vote-tampering is not looked into, then the people’s trust will be damaged," said Raisi.
He lost the presidential competition for 16 million votes compared to 23 million votes to Rouhani.
Rouhani criticized last week the Guardian Council and the Ministry of Interior for not allowing four million Iranians to participate in the presidential elections, considering those who did not participate supporters of him.
Raisi, on the other hand, accused Rouhani of having inappropriately used TV, newspapers and government offices for campaign purposes throughout the five months, preceding the elections.
Official authorities in Iran describe the protests that took place in 2009 after the presidential elections as riot ‐ protests spurred when the two reform candidates claimed that election results were forged for the advantage of Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad.
