Militants planning suicide attack on Afghan parliament with some MPs support
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The anti-government armed Death Eaters are planning to carry out a suicide kaboom on the parliament building with the support of some politicians.

The issue was shared by certain politicians in the Lower House of the Parliament, Wolesi Jirga, during the general session of the parliament on Monday.

An MP Nilofar Ibrahimi said they have been informed regarding the possible attack by the security sources.

She said the intelligence reports shared with the parliament indicates that two politicians are attempting to assist in bring the jacket wallahs to the parliament building.

According to MP Ibrahimi, the two politicians either belonging to the Lower House or Upper House of the Parliament.

The Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi also said he has been informed regarding the plan allegedly involving politicians.

He said the issue has been shared with the security institutions to take steps in a bid to foil the attack plan.

This comes as capital Kabul witnessed growing instability, mainly due to insurgency led by the Death Eaters and several attacks were carried out late last month and earlier this month, leaving hundreds of people dead or maimed.

Children of Jihadists Flown Back to Sudan from Libya
[AnNahar] Sudanese authorities on Tuesday brought home from Libya eight children, including a one-year-old, whose parents are allegedly members of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group.

The children were flown into Khartoum from the Libyan capital Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, an AFP correspondent said.

"Thanks be to Allah, today eight children," were brought back from Libya, Brigadier Tijani Ibrahim of Sudan's powerful National Intelligence and Security Service (NSS) told news hounds.

Six of the children will be handed over to relatives while the state will take care of the other two because authorities could not find any next of kin, he said.

Ibrahim said the children were brought out of Libya with help from the Libyan Red Islamic Thingy, and that four more children were expected to be flown back to Sudan at an unspecified time.

A representative for the Sudanese community in the Libyan city of Misrata, Motaz Abbas, accompanied the children home.

He said their parents "are members of the Islamic State group."

"Their mothers have been locked away
You have the right to remain silent...
by Libyan authorities and their fathers are listed as missing," Abbas said.

Libya descended into chaos following the NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants...
-backed ouster of longtime dictator Muammar Qadaffy
...The late megalomaniac dictator of Libya, admired everywhere for his garish costumes, funny hats, harem of cutie bodyguards, and incoherent ravings. As far as is known, he is the only person who's ever declared jihad on Switzerland...
in 2011, with rival administrations and militias vying for control of its vast oil wealth.

The infighting and lawlessness allowed hard boy groups such as IS to seize several coastal regions, giving the jihadists a toehold on Europe's doorstep.

In February a four-month-old baby girl born to Sudanese parents who were IS fighters in Libya was also brought home and entrusted to the care of her grandfather.

Her mother and father were killed during fighting in the Libyan coastal city of Sirte, which IS had transformed into a bastion to train jihadists before pro-government forces retook it in December 2016.

Sudanese officials says dozens of young Sudanese have joined IS in Libya, Syria and Iraq.

[AnNahar] A man incarcerated
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
outside the gates of Britannia's parliament was to appear in court Tuesday charged with possessing an offensive weapon and assaulting a police officer.

Eniola Mustafa Aminu, 27, from London, was arrested on Friday outside the gates of the Palace of Westminster in the British capital.

He appeared in court on Monday charged with "possession of an offensive weapon and assault on a constable in the execution of his duty," Scotland Yard police headquarters said.

He was remanded in jug to appear at the same court on Tuesday "following a mental health assessment."
Reuters adds:
Aminu's case is not considered a terrorist incident, authorities have said.
So that's all right, then.

Plunging oil prices 'could go even lower for even longer'
h/t Instapundit
Oil continued its month-long tailspin Tuesday, as the energy industry braced for the possibility that prices aren't stabilizing anytime soon.

Falling prices could temporarily constrict the rapid growth of U.S. oil production, but energy industry experts don't expect a significant pullback. American oil producers cut costs during the last downturn spanning from late 2014 to early 2016, which keeps them profitable even at lower oil prices that might have previously shut down wells.

The possibility of what the energy industry calls a "lower-for-longer" scenario is gaining ground. It could accelerate the auto industry's transition from fuel-efficient cars to thirstier sport-utility vehicles and give Americans unexpected savings in their summer travel budgets, while also raising the prospect of energy worker layoffs if prices dip further.

The price of West Texas Intermediate, the U.S. benchmark crude, dipped below $43 per barrel in afternoon trading Tuesday, a level not seen since last August. It settled at $43.23, down 97 cents on the day.

Less than a month ago, oil was trading above $50 and experts were projecting prices of $60 to $70 later this year. That now looks unlikely.

Supreme Court Rules for Federal Agents in 9/11 Lawsuits
WASHINGTON--The Supreme Court on Monday ruled on lawsuits involving the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks that have been running since then, ruling mostly in favor of the federal agents sued for their actions following the attacks, but remanding one issue back to the lower courts for another hearing.

"After the September 11 terrorist attacks in this country, and in response to the deaths, destruction, and dangers they caused, the United States Government ordered hundreds of illegal aliens to be taken into custody and held," Justice Anthony Kennedy began for the Court.

He noted that for some of these aliens, this "custody lasted for days and weeks, then stretching into months."

Why, look, the justice used the racist word 'illegal'. (do I need to put a /sarc on that?)

India-Pakistan
Pakistan moves ahead on border fence over Afghan objections
[AlAhram] Pakistain said Tuesday that it will soon begin building a fence along its border with Afghanistan to improve security, a move that has angered authorities in Kabul.

The two nations are divided by the 2,400-kilometer Durand Line, drawn by British rulers in 1896. Kabul does not recognize it as an international border, causing friction between the two neighbors, with Pakistain suggesting Afghanistan has designs on part of its territory. The line runs through ethnic Pashtun territory, dividing families and tribes between the two countries.

A Mighty Pak Army statement said the first phase of the project will focus on the Bajur, Mohmand and Khyber tribal regions -- all regarded by authorities as areas prone to cross-border infiltration by bully boys. The military said it will also build new forts and border posts to improve surveillance and defensibility.

It said a secure border is in interest of both countries and a well-coordinated security mechanism is essential for peace and stability.

Afghanistan and Pakistain have long accused each other of turning a blind eye to bully boyz operating along their porous frontier, but Afghanistan is opposed to the building of the fence.

"Pakistain has no right to fence or construct any building along the border with Afghanistan," said Najib Danish, deputy front man for Afghanistan's Interior Ministry. He warned of retaliatory action, referring to previous firefights that erupted when Pakistain sought to build border fortifications.

"In the past also Pakistain made a mistake by constructing buildings along the border and faced strong reaction from us. We hope they don't repeat such mistakes once again," he said.

US likely to toughen its policy on Pakistan
Good.
[DAWN] President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s administration is exploring hardening its approach towards Pakistain to crack down on alleged Pakistain-based faceless myrmidons reportedly launching attacks in Afghanistan, US officials say.

Potential Trump administration responses being discussed include expanding dronezaps, redirecting or withholding some aid to Pakistain and perhaps eventually downgrading its status as a major non-NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure....
ally, according to the officials.

Some officials, however, are sceptical of the prospects for success, arguing that years of previous efforts to force a change in Pakistain’s policies have failed, and that already strengthening US ties with India undermine chances of a breakthrough with Islamabad.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran to respond more decisively to terrorist attacks on its soil: Rouhani
[Iran Press TV] Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has stressed that the Islamic Theocratic Republic will respond "more decisively" to any future terrorist attack on Iran's soil.

Rouhani made the remarks in a ceremony on Tuesday in reference to Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) firing six medium-range ground-to-ground missiles at ISIS bases in Syria’s Dayr al-Zawr on Sunday in retaliation for twin terrorist attacks in the Iranian capital Tehran, which killed 17 people and injured over 50 others.

He added that the IRGC’s move to fire missiles toward ISIS positions in Syria was not made by one person or military component.

"If we decide to target a location with missiles, this decision falls within the field of national security," said Rouhani.

"Such decisions are made by the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC)," he added.
Rouhani, the chairman of the SNSC, said the body had in response to the terrorist attacks in Tehran given wider authority to the country's Armed Forces than the missile raid on ISIS in Syria.

Earlier in the day, the IRGC announced that at least 65 ISIS terrorists, including several high-ranking intelligence commanders, were killed in Iran's missile attack.

Polio outbreak leaves 17 children paralyzed in Syria
[IsraelTimes] WHO spokesperson says situation ’very serious’; kids infected from specific type of vaccine.

A polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set...
outbreak in war-ravaged Syria has paralyzed at least 17 children since March, the World Health Organization said Tuesday, describing the situation as "very serious."

Fifteen more cases have thus been confirmed since WHO first announced, less than two weeks ago, that Syria had been hit by its first outbreak of the crippling disease since 2014.

"We are very much worried, because if there is one case of polio with a kid that is paralyzed, it is already an outbreak," WHO front man Tarim Jasarevic told news hounds in Geneva.

He pointed out that for every polio-caused paralysis, there are on average nearly 200 children who have the virus but no symptoms.

"The virus is circulating. It is very serious."

The new cases all surfaced between March 3 and May 23, but were only just confirmed, since it can take up to two months to determine with certainty that a case of acute flaccid paralysis stems from polio, he said.
"It is expected that we will have more confirmations," Jasarevic warned.

All but one of the cases were registered in the Mayadeen district of the oil-rich Deir Ezzor province, most of which is controlled by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group and where a siege of the capital has restricted access to basic goods and services for some of the population.

WHO did not specify whether the Deir Ezzor cases were in areas under IS control.

One case of the crippling and potentially fatal viral disease that mainly affects children under the age of five has also surfaced in IS stronghold Raqqa.

But Jasarevic said it remained unclear if polio was actually circulating in Raqqa, or if the paralyzed child had caught the virus elsewhere.

Vaccine-derived polio
Unlike the last polio outbreak in Syria, which affected 36 children, the current outbreak does not involve the so-called "wild" version of the virus.

Instead, it originated from a specific type of polio vaccine, which contains small amounts of weakened but live virus.

Oral polio vaccine (OPV) replicates in the gut and can be passed to others through fecal-contaminated water -- meaning it won’t hurt the child who has been vaccinated, but could infect their neighbors in places where hygiene and immunization levels are low.
Who on earth decided this version was a good idea in a war zone, where hygiene and immunization levels are necessarily abysmal??
WHO plans to bring in more of the vaccine
...the same vaccine, or will they be smart this time?
to get immunizations levels high enough to ensure they can halt the outbreak, Jasarevic said, adding that the aim is to vaccinate more than 400,000 children under five in Deir Ezzor.
...which is mostly under ISIS control, as was just mentioned. Is ISIS likely to let them just waltz in, vaccinate all the kiddies including the Yezidi slave girls and unwilling Lion Cubs, then waltz out again?
"Our teams on the ground are currently looking into the logistics," WHO front man Oliver Rosenbauer told AFP.

"We still don’t know how we will get the vaccine in... by truck or helicopter," he added.
