Abu Dujana was a nuisance for local public too
[Indian Express] Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT) hard boy Abu Dujana, a Pak who was killed in an encounter with security forces today in Jammu and Kashmire, was not just involved in many attacks but would also harass the local public, a senior Army official claimed.

Dujana’s killing has affected the outfit and more snuffies would be hunted soon, he added. A senior police official also said that Dujana had become an eyesore for everyone and he would even harass girls.

"Dujana was not involved in too many operations, he was more of a nuisance. He was more involved in coercion and not many in terms of terrorist acts. So, he was only enjoying himself here. That is the way I look at it," Lt Gen J S Sandhu, corps commander of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, told news hounds at Awantipora in Pulwama district.

But the leadership of the LeT has been affected and we, of course, will keep hunting for other snuffies in this area, he added.

Our aim is clearing them out as soon as possible, Sandhu said, flanked by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmire, Munir Khan.

Afghanistan
Afghan forces lose 2,531 killed from Jan 1-May 8 says report
[AlAhram] A total of 2,531 Afghan cops were killed and 4,238 maimed in the first four months of the year, according to figures released in a report by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan, a U.S. Congressional watchdog.

The figures, from Jan. 1-May 8, were provided to U.S. military authorities by the Afghan government and were consistent with figures from the same period last year, the report said.

In an earlier report released in February, SIGAR said at least 6,785 Afghan soldiers and police had been killed in the first 10 months of 2016.

The figures, showing around 20 soldiers and police being killed every day, underline the challenge for Resolute Support, the NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
-led training and advisory mission trying to build up Afghan cops. The United States is expected to send around 4,000 troops to boost the mission but has yet to announce its long-awaited new strategy for the region.

U.S. commanders and officials have warned repeatedly that Afghan forces have been suffering unsustainably high casualties against the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
, partly because of tactics that include a heavy reliance on vulnerable static checkpoints.

Just last week, around 30 Afghan soldiers were killed in the southern province of Kandahar when their checkpoint was overrun by Taliban fighters.

U.S. officers say that troops defending checkpoints suffer as much as 10 times the level of casualties as they do when conducting offensive operations. But they have struggled to persuade Afghan commanders to cut their use, partly because local politicians say the checkpoints are needed as a visible sign of government presence in isolated areas.

The SIGAR report also quoted U.S. commanders who assess the fighting between government and bully boy forces as a "stalemate", with government forces in control of 59.7 percent of the country's 407 districts, the same as last quarter.

It said bandidos bully boys control 11 districts and influence another 34, equivalent to 11.1 percent of the total with another 29.2 percent contested, although it was unclear if they were actively contested or simply left alone by both sides.

The main centres of bully boy strength were in the southern provinces of Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
, Kandahar, Uruzgan and Zabul as well as Kunduz in the north.

Around 3 million people, or about a tenth of the population, were living in areas controlled or influenced by bully boys, with some 21 million living in areas under government control or influence.

Arabia
Iranians continue to supply Houthis
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have started using a new route across the Gulf to funnel covert arms shipments to their Houthi allies in Yemen’s civil war, sources familiar with the matter have told Reuters.

In March, regional and Western sources told Reuters that Iran was shipping weapons and military advisers to the Houthis either directly to Yemen or via Somalia. This route however risked contact with international naval vessels on patrol in the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.

For the last six months the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has begun using waters further up the Gulf between Kuwait and Iran as it looks for new ways to beat an embargo on arms shipments to the Houthi movement, Western and Iranian sources say.

Turkey, Qatar Launch Joint Military Exercises
[An Nahar] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and its main regional ally Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
on Tuesday launched military exercises in the emirate that will involve some 250 Ottoman Turkish troops and 30 armored vehicles, reports said.

The exercises come as Ankara presses on with its unequivocal backing of Doha in the crisis triggered by the political and economic isolation of Qatar by Gulf and other Arab states led by Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
Ottoman Turkish state media said that the Ottoman Turkish frigate TCG Gokova had docked in Doha earlier this week carrying 214 soldiers who would take part in the exercises.

The exercises got underway on Tuesday and would initially involve ground forces with naval forces later on, NTV television said. An observation day involving top commanders would take place on August 7-8, it added.

A total of 250 Ottoman Turkish soldiers and 30 armored vehicles will take part, it added.

On June 5, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt cut ties with Qatar accusing it of backing extremism and fostering ties with their Shiite rival Iran.

Doha denies the claims and has been strongly backed by Ankara throughout the standoff.

The crisis has put Turkey in a delicate position as it seeks to balance its strategic alliance with Qatar with preserving its own relations with regional kingpin Saudi Arabia.

Turkey is setting up a military base in Qatar, its only such outpost in the region. It has sped up the process since the crisis began and reportedly now has 150 troops at the base.

UAE lobbied US to host Taliban office
[Al Jazeera] The UAE lobbied US officials to be able to host an office for the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
in Abu Dhabi - a milestone that eventually went to Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
, according to a series of leaked emails from the UAE ambassador to the United States.

Reported by the New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
, the emails from Yusef al-Otaiba apparently contradict a mounted campaign against Qatar for its alleged support of "terrorist groups".

As part of its attempt to isolate the peninsula, a Saudi-led bloc including the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt has derided Qatar for hosting an office for the Afghan gang.

The office, which opened in June 2013, was part of a broader US-led effort to facilitate peace talks in Afghanistan - not to support their ideology or the group itself.

The New York Times reported on Monday that Otaiba, the Emirati ambassador to Washington, had received an "angry call" from UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, complaining that the Taliban had ended up in Qatar and not the UAE, according to messages in the ambassador's Hotmail account.

"I got an angry call from [Zayed] saying how come we weren't told," Otaiba wrote to an American official, referring to the decision on choosing Qatar to host the Taliban.

The newspaper obtained another email dated September 12, 2011, in which an Emirati official questioned the US position on the Taliban office's location

Etihad Airways assisting Australian police with plane attack probe
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways said on Tuesday it was helping Australian Federal Police with an investigation that police began into an "ISIS-inspired" plot to bring down a plane and resulted in stricter security screening at Australian airports.

Four men were placed in durance vile
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
in raids in several suburbs in Sydney, Australia's largest city, at the weekend and are being held without charge under special terror-related powers.

"The Etihad Airways aviation security team is assisting the Australian Federal Police with its investigation and the matter is ongoing," Etihad said in a statement.

"Etihad is complying fully with the enhanced security measures at airports in Australia and monitoring the situation closely," it said.

Police have not identified the airline that was allegedly targeted in the plot, nor the specific means that were to be used to bring it down, other than to say it involved an "improvised device".

US officials, who spoke to Rooters on condition of anonymity, said a foreign intelligence service had intercepted communications between the plotters in Sydney and members of ISIS in Syria. The officials declined to identify the foreign intelligence service.

Another two US officials familiar with the Australian arrests said a developing plot had been detected. One of them, also speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, said the alleged plot was "fairly well along" when it was disrupted by Australian authorities.

The other official said the target appeared to have been a commercial flight from Sydney to the Gulf.

The arrests have disrupted air travel in Australia, where authorities and airlines have asked travelers to arrive earlier than usual for additional screening.

The houses of the detained men were still being searched on Monday evening, two days after the arrests. A single black police four-wheel-drive vehicle was parked at one of the raided homes in the inner Sydney suburb of Surry Hills.

Forensics officers had also set up a tent for objects taken from the house, according to a Rooters witness. A police officer at the scene declined to comment.
The Daily Mail adds:
A group of men accused of plotting to bring down an international flight may have been building a bomb with 'mother of satan' gas, which was used in the Manchester Arena attack, a terror expert has claimed.

The new 'details' of the alleged plot come as one of the suspects, Abdul Merhi, 50, was released without charge on Tuesday night. Abdul Merhi was one of four men taken into custody on Saturday when five Sydney properties were raided by NSW and federal police.

The remaining three suspects will stay in detention under special powers which allow police to hold them for up to a week.

Local man attacks Atatürk statue in Turkey’s southeast, says ‘no idol worshipping in Islam’
[Hurriyet Daily News] A local peddler attacked a statue of Ataturk in the Siverek district of the southeastern province of Sanliurfa on July 30, saying that "idol worshipping had no place in Islam," Dogan News Agency has reported.

The peddler, identified as Mehmet Malbora, climbed onto the pedestal of the statue in Siverek’s Cumhuriyet Square in the afternoon hours and began to damage it with a wooden sickle.

"There is no idol worshipping in Islam. Are those who protect the idol worshipping descendants of the Prophet?" he reportedly shouted.

Witnesses around the scene informed the police of the incident, and nearby district gendarmerie units also intervened to move Malbora, who was wearing a turban-like head covering, away from the statue.

Police then arrived at the scene and detained him, taking him to the district police headquarters for questioning.

Nearly 500 to face coup trial in Turkey
[DAWN] Nearly 500 people arrested in the crackdown following the failed July 15, 2016 coup in Turkey will go on trial today. They are accused of conspiring to oust the government from an air base seen as the plotters' hub.

A total of 486 suspects will go on trial in a purpose-built courtroom outside Ankara, charged with crimes ranging from murder, violating the constitution and attempting to kill the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey's state-run news agency Anadolu reported.

They are accused of running the coup bid from the Akinci air base northwest of the capital, which the authorities regard as the headquarters of the plotters where orders were sent out for fighter jets to bomb parliament.

Almost all the suspects — a total of 461 individuals — are held in custody while seven are still on the run and the remainder charged but not in jail.

India-Pakistan
Court orders framing of charges against Bhatkal
[PTINEWS] A Delhi court today ordered framing of charges against Indian Mujahideen
A locally recruited auxilliary of Pakistain's Lashkar-e-Taiba, designed to give a domestic patina to Pakistain's terror war against its bigger neighbor...
(IM) operative Yasin Bhatkal and 10 others in the 2010 Jama Masjid blast case.

Additional Sessions Judge Sidharth Sharma, however, discharged three alleged members of the outfit, saying there was not enough evidence against them.

The court discharged Syed Ismail Affaque, Abdus Saboor and Riyaz Ahmad Sayeedi, who were named in the charge sheet by the police.

The case pertains to an kaboom near the historic Jama Masjid here on September 19, 2010 soon after two suspected IM operatives had fired at a bus from which foreign tourists were descending near a gate of the mosque. Today's order came on the blast incident.

The police had charge sheeted these suspected IM members, including its co-founder Yasin Bhatkal, in connection with the blast case and said these operatives had carried out the strike to dissuade foreign nations from participating in the the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games.

The police had also said IM operatives had planned that foreign tourists found near Jama Masjid would be randomly shot and a kaboom would be executed there for maximum casualty.

It had claimed that Bhatkal had prepared a pressure cooker IED, which was planted in the car parked outside Jama Masjid, and an kaboom had taken place.

The court had on July 18 reserved its order on whether to put Bhatkal on trial in four separate terror cases, including the Jama Masjid blast case, after concluding the hearing of arguments on charges in the cases.

Bhatkal was awarded the death penalty by a Special NIA Court in December last year in a case related to the 2013 Hyderabad kabooms, which had claimed 18 lives.

'Over half of 9,000 Pakistanis imprisoned abroad face drug smuggling charges'
[DAWN] Over half of 9,000 Paks imprisoned across the globe were tossed in the slammer
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
on charges of drug smuggling, officials of the Ministry of Overseas Paks informed the Senate Committee on Overseas Paks on Tuesday.

A Pak citizen, Zulfiqar, who is facing execution in Indonesia on charges of drug smuggling, is not well and is receiving treatment, the foreign ministry said, adding that his execution had been halted last week because of the ministry's efforts.

"A new date for the execution has not yet been announced," foreign ministry official said.

Appalled at the finding, the members of the committee asked why the ministry was not making sure that travellers were aware of the menace and why it was so easy to take smuggle drugs from Pakistain.

Pakistan elects Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as new PM
[Dhaka Tribune] Pakistain’s parliament elected ex-oil minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as prime minister on Tuesday, days after three-times premier Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
was ousted by the Supreme Court.

Abbasi is seen by the ruling party as a placeholder for Sharif’s designated successor, his younger brother Shahbaz, who must first secure election to the 342-member National Assembly.

Abbasi, nominated by Sharif’s ruling Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz (PML-N), secured 221 votes, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq announced on live television. He will be sworn in later Tuesday.

"I give the floor to the new prime minister of Pakistain," Sadiq said as Abbasi took his place in the premier’s seat.

"I am thankful to all those who took part in this democratic process," Abbasi said. "Those who were in favour, those who opposed me. This is the procedure in democracy. And I am also thankful to PML-N who nominated me for this post. Of all these, I am most thankful to Nawaz Sharif."

Shabhaz Sharif, currently chief minister of Punjab

2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

province, plans to enter parliament by contesting the seat left vacant by his elder sibling before eventually taking over the premiership.

The constitution requires a candidate for prime minister to win a majority from the National Assembly, the lower house of parliament.

Three opposition candidates also submitted nomination papers to take part in the vote.

But Abbasi, a long-time Sharif loyalist, won easily as the PML-N commands a majority in parliament.

Nawaz Sharif was the 15th prime minister in Pakistain’s 70-year history, roughly half of which was spent under military rule, to be ousted before completing a full term.

The top court sacked him Friday after an investigation into corruption allegations against him and his family, bringing his historic third term in power to an unceremonious end and briefly plunging the nuclear-armed nation into political instability.

Abbasi is the former federal minister for petroleum and natural resources, and a businessman who launched the country’s most successful private airline, Air Blue.

Pakistani Taliban launches women’s magazine
[Dhaka Tribune] The Pak Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
on Tuesday released the first edition of a magazine for women, apparently aiming to convince its target readership to join the krazed killer group and take up jihad.

The first edition of "Sunnat E Khaula" ‐ which translates as ’The Way of Khaula’, referring to an early female follower of the Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) ‐ published by the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) features a picture of a women veiled from head to toe on its front cover.

Inside is an interview with the TTP’s leader’s wife, who is not named, in which she talks about being married to the head of the krazed killer group, Fazlullah Khorasani, at the age of 14.

"I ask you why now everywhere there is hue and cry about underage marriages... We have to understand that mature boys and girls if left unmarried for too long can become a source of moral destruction of the society," the krazed killer leader’s wife tells the interviewer.

"We want to provoke women of Islam to come forward and join the ranks of mujahideen e (holy warriors of) Islam," reads the opening editorial of the magazine, which includes an advice column for would-be lady jihadists.

"Organise secret gatherings at home and invite like-minded jihadi sisters," the column suggests.

"Distribute literature reflecting on the obligation of jihad, arrange physical training classes for sisters. Learn how to operate simple weapons. Learn the use of grenades."

The English-language magazine also includes an article written by a Pak female doctor describing her decision to shun her western education and embrace Islam, titled "My journey from ignorance to guidance".

At the height of the Taliban’s influence in Pakistain, the krazed killer group regularly put out publications in Urdu and English, hoping to attract recruits to its ranks.

The krazed killer group was also active on Facebook and Twitter, but most of its social media pages have now been closed.

Pakistain’s military launched an offensive against turban groups in the country’s northwest in late 2014 after the Taliban attacked a military-run school killing more than 150 people, mostly children.

Security has since improved, though the Taliban continues to sporadically launch attacks, including one last month on a market in Lahore that killed 26 people.

Iran accused of helping fund Temple Mount unrest
[IsraelTimes] Islamic Theocratic Republic said to have provided food packages to demonstrators protesting Israeli security measures at holy site

The Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran reportedly provided aid to Paleostinian protesters demonstrating against new security measures at the Temple Mount last month.

The aid reportedly included boxes of food and drink, which came with a flyer attached depicting the Dome of the Rock and a quote attributed to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei reading, "With the help of God, Paleostine will be freed. Jerusalem is ours."

While Paleostinian media reported that the food packages were provided by an Iranian youth movement, a PA intelligence official said it was clear that the Iranian regime was behind the aid.

"It is clear to us that the regime in Tehran, by means of its long arms, is behind this catering operation," the official told the Israel Hayom daily in an article published Tuesday.

"The sums come to millions of shekels and the Iranians found an opening to reap the benefits and send a message to the Paleostinian public right under Israel’s nose that it is Iran that looks out for them. The flyer attached to all the food packages and the quotes of Khamenei make clear who is behind these food baskets."

The flyer also showed Khamenei’s hand, pointing toward the Dome of the Rock. The hand was shown in mirror-image -- appearing to be the Iranian leader’s right-hand, when it is in fact his left. (Khamenei’s right-arm was injured when he was badly hurt in a 1981 liquidation attempt.)

Another Paleostinian official told Israel Hayom that while the PA was aware of the Iranian effort, it did not notify Israel because of PA President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
’s decision to freeze security ties in protest of the security measures. Those were placed at the Temple Mount following a July 14 terror attack at the holy site, in which three Arab Israelis rubbed out two coppers with weapons smuggled into the compound.

"In the territory under Paleostinian control this would not happen," he added. "We would not allow the Iranians a foothold like this, because this would come back at us like a boomerang with the reactions of Arab states."

The Iranian involvement also angered PA higher-ups, with one unnamed official said to be close to Abbas telling the daily that it was a mistake to allow Iran to reach into the West Bank with its "tentacles."

The Islamic Theocratic Republic has long funded operations against Israel, often through its provision of money and arms to the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, and Hezbollah terror groups.

Iran has also made calling for Israel’s destruction and the "liberation" of Jerusalem central to its propaganda efforts. Its foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, was set to fly to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
on Tuesday for a Moslem conference on the latest developments in Jerusalem.

Israel removed last week all of the new security measures installed at the Temple Mount, and a PA official told The Times of Israel that security cooperation will gradually be restored as long as Moslem access to the holy site remains unrestricted.
