16 U.S. Postal Service workers in Metro Atlanta arrested, charged with bribery after drug sting
ATLANTA (CBS46) - Sixteen U.S. Postal Service workers in Metro Atlanta have been charged with accepting bribes to deliver cocaine in a drug trafficking operation, according to the Dept. of Justice.

The workers were charged in three separate federal indictments after it was discovered in a sting operation that the letter carriers were allegedly taking bribes to deliver packages of kilogram-quantities of cocaine.

The indictments state the USPS employees allegedly accepted the bribes from a person they believed was a drug trafficker using the U.S. mail to ship cocaine, multiple kilograms at a time, into the Atlanta area. In exchange for the bribe payments, the letter carriers allegedly provided special addresses that the drug trafficker could use to ship the cocaine.

The letter carriers then intercepted the packages and delivered them to the trafficker. However, the drug trafficker was working with law enforcement and the packages they delivered contained fake drugs.

Some of the postal employees went on to recruit additional USPS employees to join the criminal scheme and accepted additional money for drug packages delivered by recruits.

The USPS employees are as follows:

Cydra Rochelle Alexander, 31, of Riverdale, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the Ralph McGill Carrier Annex and Central City Branch of the Atlanta Post Office.

Aurthamis O. Burch, a/k/a Tank, 46, of Snellville, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the Doraville Post Office.

Kawana Rashun Champion, 35, of Jonesboro, Georgia, a clerk assigned to the North Springs Branch of the Sandy Springs Post Office and Central City Branch of the Atlanta Post Office.

Eleanor Lolita Golden, a/k/a Eleanor Johnson, 54, of East Point, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the West End Branch of the Atlanta Post Office.

Tonie Harris, 54, of Decatur, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the Sandy Springs Post Office.

Leea Janel Holt, 38, of Atlanta, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the Old National Branch of the Riverdale Post Office.

Clifton Curtis Lee, a/k/a Cliff, 41, of Lithonia, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the Sandy Springs Post Office.

Shakeed Anilah Magee, 40, of College Park, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the West End Branch of the Atlanta Post Office.

Horace Manson, 40, of Roswell, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the West End Branch of the Atlanta Post Office.

Olivia Marita Moore, 25, of Atlanta, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the Old National Branch of the Riverdale Post Office.

Eddie Nash, 63, of Decatur, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the West End Branch of the Atlanta Post Office.

Jeffrey A. Pearson, 59, of Austell, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the Decatur Post Office.

Rodney Antwain Salter, 33, of Jonesboro, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the Martech Branch of the Atlanta Post Office.

Frank Webb, 40, of Lithonia, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the Central City Branch of the Atlanta Post Office.

Katrina Nicole Wilson, a/k/a Trina, 38, of Fairburn, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the West End Branch of the Atlanta Post Office.

Harvel Donta Young, a/k/a Dante, 39, of Atlanta, Georgia, a letter carrier assigned to the Westside Annex Branch of the Marietta Post Office.

Imran Awan Has Still-Active Secret House Account, And It's Tied To An Intelligence Staffer
Moved to Page 3

[Daily Caller] A former IT aide suspected of stealing equipment and data from Congress still has an active, secret email account on the House computer system, even though he has been banned from the congressional network because of a criminal investigation into the alleged cybersecurity violations, The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has learned.

Imran Awan’s still-active email address is linked to the name of a House staffer who specializes in intelligence and homeland security matters for Indiana Democratic Rep. André Carson. Court documents and emails obtained by TheDCNF show Awan used the address 123@mail.house.gov in addition to his standard imran.awan@mail.house.gov account.

He and two of his Pakistani-born brothers, as well as his wife, are at the center of an FBI investigation over their IT work with dozens of Democratic congressional offices. Authorities shut down Awan’s standard email account Feb. 2, and he was arrested by the FBI at Dulles International Airport trying to board a flight to his native Pakistan on July 25.

Authorities apparently did not realize Awan has a second account that is not linked to his identity. While his main email address began rejecting mail after it was shut down, the 123 address was still accepting mail Tuesday.

#2  What does 'linked' mean.

That even though 123@mail.house.gov is assigned to the staffer, it is being used by Imran Awan? Imran therefore still as authentication capabilities to Exchange Server. He can still see all email communications within house.gov if that authentication has admin rights. Being and intelligence type account, it is highly restricted to who can and who cannot know about it. Very clever.

#3  Adding a bit to Storza's expert comments, draft and archived emails, or emails sent to a non-existent address can also provide a covert communications or sharing venue if two or more parties are permitted to log onto the same account.
Posted by: Besoeker || 08/30/2017 2:29 Comments || Top||

#4  Also, being that all phone calls are most likely VOIP (voice over ip) Imran and the Dems are also listening to all government calls over the networks. Even encrypted calls can be decrypted if you have admin rights as network administrator. This story therefore identifies the leaks are via the government network administrators allied with the Democrats.

#6  But this is starting to look like an actual intelligence operation. Posted by SteveS

I suspect you could be safe in betting your arse and all of it's fixtures that it 'is.' The fact we're hearing so little about it in the media, DOJ, or from the do-nothing congress intelligence committees provides additional confirmation.

I would even go so far as to predict that we may one day discover the Awans were milking both intelligence agency cows. A very nasty bit of laundry, very nasty indeed.

#12  Not necessarily stupid. Follow the thread back.

1. Started as IT staffers for Indiana Democratic Rep. André Carson (the other Muslim Member of Congress, by the way.)

2. Branched out to other Members of Congress.

3. Pretty much allowed free reign.

Keep in mind that Congressional offices are run more or less independently, are not (directly) USG offices, and are more or less stretched in assets and time.

Factor in Congressional Democrats' inherent clubbish-ness, the Awan's origins into Congressional IT services, their (politically correct) background, the general ignorance by Congress into matters IT-related, the DNC and the swamp that is D.C. ...

Houston police catch 14 armed robbers and looters amid flood emergency
[ABC13] Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said he is not going to tolerate criminals taking advantage of people in the community during such a devastating time.

He said his officers locked away
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
14 alleged looters since Sunday.

Those arrested will face stiffer punishments under a Texas law providing heftier penalties during a crisis, prosecutors announced Tuesday.

"People displaced or harmed in this storm are not going to be easy prey," Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said.

Burglarizing a home would normally bring a penalty of two to 20 years in prison, but now brings five years to life.
"This is the state of Texas. We are a welcoming city, but we are not going to tolerate people victimizing others," Acevedo said.

He said he will push for the fullest prosecution possible for any crimes committed during such a sensitive time.

Acevedo said his officers arrested a crew of people with guns robbing members of our community Monday night. They found them after a pursuit and took them into custody. He said officers also caught three looters at a Game Stop Monday night.

ABC News Anchor Tom Llamas shared a photo on Twitter just after 11:30 a.m. of a looting situation happening in the Houston area where the Coast Guard is flying overhead.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
The Late Sir Nicholas George Winton MBE: The Power of Good - 'Save one life, save the world'
In December 1938, Nicholas Winton, a 29-year-old London stockbroker, was about to leave for a skiing holiday in Switzerland, when he received a phone call from his friend Martin Blake asking him to cancel his holiday and immediately come to Prague: "I have a most interesting assignment and I need your help. Don't bother bringing your skis." When Winton arrived, he was asked to help in the camps, in which thousands of refugees were living in appalling conditions.

In October 1938, after the ill-fated Munich Agreement between Germany and the Western European powers, the Nazis annexed a large part of western Czechoslovakia, the Sudetenland. Winton was convinced that the German occupation of the rest of the country would soon follow. To him and many others, the outbreak of war seemed inevitable. The news of Kristallnacht, the bloody pogrom (violent attack) against German and Austrian Jews on the nights of November 9 and 10, 1938, had reached Prague. Winton decided to take steps.
"I found out that the children of refugees and other groups of people who were enemies of Hitler weren't being looked after. I decided to try to get permits to Britain for them. I found out that the conditions which were laid down for bringing in a child were chiefly that you had a family that was willing and able to look after the child, and £50, which was quite a large sum of money in those days, that was to be deposited at the Home Office. The situation was heartbreaking. Many of the refugees hadn't the price of a meal. Some of the mothers tried desperately to get money to buy food for themselves and their children. The parents desperately wanted at least to get their children to safety when they couldn't manage to get visas for the whole family. I began to realize what suffering there is when armies start to march."

In terms of his mission, Winton was not thinking in small numbers, but of thousands of children. He was ready to start a mass evacuation.
Posted by: Besoeker || 08/30/2017 08:43 || Comments || Link || [2 views] Top|| File under:

#1  "Officials at the Home Office worked very slowly with the entry visas. We went to them urgently asking for permits, only to be told languidly, 'Why rush, old boy? Nothing will happen in Europe.' This was a few months before the war broke out. So we forged the Home Office entry permits."

And the last transport of 250 children was slated to leave on the day Germany invaded Poland, which resulted in the borders being closed. Those children disappeared, never to be heard from again.

It was this that the Brits and Europeans were trying to replicate by bringing in child migrants. Unfortunately, unlike the Jews three quarters of a century ago, most of the migrants who signed up for the modern program have had more selfish purposes.

Cajun Navy members met with gunfire by apparent looters, group says
[WDSU] Members of the Louisiana Cajun Navy, a group of Louisianians helping Tropical Storm Harvey victims in Texas, were shot at Monday by apparent looters, the group said on Facebook.

The Cajun Navy has become widely known across the state for its response efforts during natural disasters and is made up of different groups. The group of first responders previously provided assistance to Louisianians during last year's historic August floods.

One group of rescuers are in Texas already and more are expected to be on the way. Those who have arrived have brought their own boats to aid in the rescue efforts.

Joel Osteen said his church is open to Harvey victims after a social media backlash
[CIRCA] Pastor Joel Osteen says his Houston megachurch is not closed to those hurt by Tropical Storm Harvey following social media backlash over its response to the national disaster.

“[We’re] prepared to house people once shelters reach capacity,” he said late Monday, according to ABC News.

“We have never closed our doors,” Osteen added of Lakewood Church. “We will continue to be a distribution center to those in need.”

“Lakewood will be a value to the community in the aftermath of this storm in helping our fellow citizens rebuild their lives.”

#1  I'm reading this as more ginned-up outrage (not to be confused with the more respectable gin-fueled outrage).
tl;dr: the church is being dinged for not helping out like they did last time in 2005 with Katrina. Man, deep down those Xtians are really haters, right?

But wait, isn't Lakewood Church in a part of town that floods? (I know, it all floods. but some parts more than others) In fact, if you make it to the end of the article, that's exactly what happened.

Weather nerds will note that Katrina made landfall over by New Orleans and did not hit Houston directly, unlike the present storm. *bleep* social media.

#3  Steve is correct about the flooding along the area where Lakewood meets (formerly The Summit, where the Rockets played). It goes further though; That building itself took significant flooding during both Rita and Ike.
Some people have asked 'why not the Astrodome'?
Simple. The building has been stripped. The Harris County Sports Authority wants to tear it down, but people keep voting to keep it. So they've made it unusable. For instance, eldest son bought at the auction the actual stadium seats he had season tickets for the Astros games. Mancave stuff.

Britain
Perfidious Albion must decide how to react to US strike on North Korea, warns thinktank
[Guardian] Theresa May urgently needs to establish how the UK will react to a US request for political support for military action against North Korea, a leading figure at a security thinktank has warned.

Malcolm Chalmers, deputy director-general of the Royal United Services Institute, said the prime minister must commission a study to decide the British response, as when the time comes she will "only have hours, at most, to make clear how she stood on what would be one of the most momentous strategic shocks of the post-cold war era".

May’s spokesman, speaking before she begins her visit to Japan on Wednesday, described North Korea’s unannounced firing of a missile over Japan as "reckless provocation" but has not said if she will support a preventive military strike.

Donald Trump said on Tuesday that all options including military action are on the table, while the US envoy to the UN, Nikki Haley, said "something serious has to happen" following the missile test.

May wants her visit to Japan to focus on a possible post-Brexit trade deal and the shape of a future economic relationship but Japanese officials have been analysing the apparent reduction in British influence in the wider world after leaving the EU.
That's the ticket, a Royal Commission. I'd expect nothing less, nor more. Bunch of indolent, wanking Poms.

China-Japan-Koreas
Next target Guam, North Korea says (Opens to Video)
[CNN] North Korea's launch of a missile over Japan was a prelude to more military operations directed at the American territory of Guam, North Korean state media warned Wednesday.

The country's state-run Korean Central News Agency reported leader Kim Jong Un presided over the dawn launch Tuesday of the "ultra-modern rocket system," the first missile ever fired from the capital Pyongyang.

North Korean officials told CNN in Pyongyang that Kim was "very satisfied with the performance of the missile."

The intermediate-range missile, identified by the North Koreans as the Hwasong-12, flew over Japan, further fueling tensions between North Korea and the United States and its allies, Japan and South Korea.

Early Wednesday, the US conducted a test intercept of a medium range ballistic missile off the coast of Hawaii, according to a statement from the US Missile Defense Agency.
A US official told CNN the test was planned for a long time, before North Korea's launch.

China: Korean tensions at 'tipping point'
[Al Jazeera] China has warned that tensions on the Korean peninsula have reached a "tipping point" after North Korea fired a ballistic missile over Japan, a move Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe described as "unprecedented" and a "grave threat" to his country's security.

Hua Chunying, spokeswoman for the Chinese foreign ministry, urged all sides on Tuesday to avoid provocations, repeating Beijing's call for Pyongyang to suspend missile tests, while proposing that the United States and South Korea China halt ongoing joint military exercises.

The situation is "now at a tipping point approaching a crisis. At the same time there is an opportunity to reopen peace talks", Hua told news hounds in Beijing.

Trump warns 'all options' on table after North Korea launches missiles
[DAWN] United States President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
warned on Tuesday that "all options" remained under consideration after North Korea launched a missile over Japan.

"Threatening and destabilising actions only increase the North Korean regime's isolation in the region and among all nations of the world," the White House said in a statement.

"All options are on the table." The statement said that the world "has received North Korea's latest message loud and clear: this regime has signalled its contempt for its neighbours, for all members of the United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
, and for minimum standards of acceptable international behaviour."

The statement reiterates Trump's past threats to use military action to resolve the ongoing crisis with North Korea, including an apocalyptic warning of raining "fire and fury" on North Korea after Pyongyang last month carried out two Intercontinental ballistic missile tests.

Pyongyang in turn threatened to fire a salvo of missiles towards the US territory of Guam.

Trump also spoke by phone with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe following the missile launch.

"The two leaders agreed that North Korea poses a grave and growing direct threat to the United States, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, as well as to countries around the world," the White House said in a separate statement.

"President Trump and Prime Minister Abe committed to increasing pressure on North Korea, and doing their utmost to convince the international community to do the same."
FOX said that Kim Jong-un attended the last rocket launch. Evidently he enjoys rocket launches. Did I mention that Kim Jong-un was on hand at the launch site for the recent NORK rocket launch ?

Economy
US growth upgraded to 3 percent in second quarter
[The Hill] The U.S. economy grew at an annualized rate of 3 percent in the second quarter, up from the first estimate of 2.6 percent, according to the Department of Commerce.

The second estimate, which incorporates more data, saw strong growth in personal consumption -- which can indicate a general sense of financial security among the population -- and nonresidential fixed investment, which can indicate bullishness on the business side.

The growth is the strongest since the first quarter of 2015, when it hit 3.2 percent, but not as high as the 5.2 percent spurt in the third quarter of 2014.

The healthy growth figure from the April-June period, which is up from the paltry 1.2 percent real gross domestic product growth seen in the first quarter, could be a boon for President Trump, whose administration has promised a decade of 3 percent growth. The quarter also saw a 0.21 percent increase in net exports, meaning a shrinking trade deficit, another key Trump promise.

Trump frequently touts good economic news and accuses the media of failing to cover it.

Bolton says 'staff changes' have prevented him from seeing Trump
[The Hill] "I requested a meeting with him and I was turned down," Bolton told Politico.

In a piece published Monday in the National Review, Bolton expanded on his inability to see the president.

"I offer the Iran nonpaper now as a public service, since staff changes at the White House have made presenting it to President Trump impossible," Bolton wrote as he laid out a plan to get out of an international agreement between Iran and world powers that exchanged sanctions relief for concessions on Iran's nuclear program.

"Although he was once kind enough to tell me 'come in and see me at any time,' those days are now over."
Bolton had previously been eyed for some administration positions, including secretary of State and national security adviser.

In his op-ed, he wrote that former chief strategist Stephen Bannon had asked him to "draw up" for Trump a "game plan" for the Iran nuclear agreement, but he has not been able to present it to the president.

"Here it is. It is only five pages long, but like instant coffee, it can be readily expanded to a comprehensive, hundred-page playbook if the administration were to decide to leave the Iran agreement," Bolton wrote.

"There is no need to wait for the next certification deadline in October. Trump can and should free America from this execrable deal at the earliest opportunity."

Bolton wrote if the president never sees his option, "so be it."

"But let it never be said that the option didn't exist," he wrote.

ACORN sues California to allow more illegals to vote
[Bombthrowers.com] An ACORN offshoot and other left-wing pressure groups are suing California in federal court because the state hasn’t made it easy enough for Democrats to flood voter rolls with illegal aliens and foreign nationals who aren’t legally eligible to vote.

Throughout the years Mickey Mouse, Mary Poppins, and celebrities living and dead were registered to vote because now-defunct ACORN and its allied groups were allowed to pollute the voter rolls.

The ACORN successor group known as ACCE Institute, League of Women Voters of California, California Common Cause, and the National Council of La Raza want to compel the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to incorporate voter registration material into the forms needed to apply for or renew a driver’s license or state identification card, or submit a change of address. They claim the DMV is violating the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), popularly called "Motor-Voter," by asking the more than a million California residents who renew by mail every year to fill out a separate voter registration form.

Other election fraud-promoting state policies already exist in the Golden State, which is a haven for illegal aliens and illegal voting.

Professor sez Texas Deserves Hurricane Harvey for voting for President Turmp
[Independent] A professor at the University of Tampa has apologised for posting a tweet suggesting Texas victims of Hurricane Harvey deserved the storm because the state supported Donald Trump in the presidential election.

Ken Storey, a professor of sociology, wrote on Twitter: "I don’t believe in instant karma but this kinda feels like it for Texas. Hopefully this will help them realise the GOP doesn’t care about them."

The tweet was later removed, according to Campus Reform.

Mr Storey issued an apology on Monday afternoon, tweeting he "never meant to wish ill will upon any group".

I deeply regret a statement I posted yesterday. I never meant to wish ill will upon any group. I hope all affected by Harvey recover quickly.

Eric Cardenas, director of public information at the University of Tampa, issued a statement to Fox News about the incident.

"The University of Tampa stands in solidarity with the people impacted by Hurricane Harvey, and our thoughts and prayers are with all involved.

At least nine people are reported to have died as a result of Hurricane Harvey, the worst storm to strike the US in 12 years.

More than 3,000 people have been rescued in Houston and the surrounding area since the storm hit, with thousands still waiting to be picked up.
