[RADIOSHABELLE] The Nigerian coppers are leaving Somalia following their role in role in securing peace in the country.

The officers who were commended by the African Union

were awarded medals and certificates at a ceremony held in Mogadishu on Friday.

Speaking at the ceremony, AMISOM (African Union Mission in Somalia) Police Commissioner, Brig. Gen. Anand Pillay, hailed the officers for their efforts in aiding Somalia hold a successful electoral process that culminated in the election of a new President and members of parliament.

"You came here at the time when you were needed most, especially to support the Somalis in the parliamentary and presidential elections, which you all have supported well," Pillay noted.

He added that the officers were at the centre of activities and plans that ensured Somalia had a successful election and eventual inauguration of a new president.

He was, however, saddened that the contingent was bowing out at a time when their services were needed most, especially during the transition period and also after the recent UN Security Council Resolution 2372, which called for the scaling up of the size of AMISOM Police.

Rouhani urges Venezuelans to unite against US
[Iran Press TV] Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has touched on US meddling in other countries' internal affairs in a meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro whose country is grappling with months of unrest.

Venezuela has been convulsed by months of unrest, which has plunged the oil-rich country into the worst economic crisis in its history. The government says Washington is instigating the unrest and trying to undermine the South American country.

"We have no doubt that the new methods of the US government cannot last for long," Rouhani said on the sidelines of the first science and technology summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Astana.

Satellite Images Reveal: North Korea is Preparing for War
[IsraelDefense] The ImageSat Company of Israel, which operates the Eros-B satellite, publishes satellite images of North Korea from recent months, exposing North Korea's ongoing preparations for conventional war.

Air Force bases that feature fighter jet hangars hidden inside mountains; secret tunnels; underground hangars; anti-aircraft batteries; workshops for the production of aircraft spare parts; and more. The ImageSat Company of Israel, which operates the Eros-B satellite, publishes satellite images of North Korea from recent months, exposing North Korea's ongoing preparations for conventional war.

The images include a visual coverage of airports where dozens of fighter jets are parked. They also show preparations made by North Korea's air-defense forces, as well as changes at the Yongbyon nuclear site.

There is no doubt that alongside the missile tests, the nuclear tests and the unveiling of the nuclear and hydrogen warheads, the North Korean leadership is also preparing for war. If one should break out, it is possible that we shall witness a joint American, South Korean and Japanese invasion of Pyongyang.

Europe
German cities split with 'anti-Semitic' BDS boycott movement
[IsraelTimes] The international protest movement to boycott Israel is increasingly encountering resistance in Germany's big cities. Frankfurt, Berlin and Munich have said BDS uses language from the Nazi era.

For over ten years, an international network of protest against Israeli policy toward the Paleostinians has existed: the "Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions" (BDS) movement. It began in 2005 when numerous Paleostinian organizations expressed extensive criticism of Israeli policy towards the Paleostinians. Internationally, the call to boycott Israeli products from the occupied territories and holdings of Israeli companies was based on a long-term campaign in the 1980s against the apartheid system in South Africa.

For a long time, BDS' stance was regarded as critical of Israel as a whole or anti-Zionist. But recently, several German metropolises have judged the protest movement to be "anti-Semitic" and have outlawed official support to the movement.

At the national level, the anti-BDS movement is also gaining steam. At its annual convention in Essen in December 2016, Merkel's CDU party approved a petition that would make the party condemn or oppose any BDS activities. Becker also initiated that petition.

2 suspects in France face terror charges over explosives lab
[Ynet] French prosecutors on Sunday issued preliminary terror charges for two men linked to an explosives lab discovered in an apartment near Paris.

Paris counter-terrorism prosecutor Francois Molins said the men detained last week were charged with terrorist association and the manufacture of explosives.

Molins said the men—a 36-year-old apartment owner named Ali M.R. and a man known as Frederic M. who was previously known to intelligence authorities -- aimed "to manufacture a bomb" to carry out an attack in France. He said, however, no specific plan had been found.

The explosive materials—along with the message in Arabic "God is great"—were found accidently in the lab in the Paris suburb of Villejuif on Wednesday after workmen had been called to fix a nearby water leak and told authorities after noticing suspicious products in an apartment.

Up to four kilograms (nearly 9 pounds) of the explosive TATP could have been manufactured from the material discovered, Molins said. TATP, a peroxide-based explosive, has been employed often by Islamic extremists.
The Times of Israel adds:
Molins said the two admitted they wanted to join Islamic State.

A third man was released Sunday without being charged.

India-Pakistan
'Ready to respond to Indian misadventures,' says Rawalpindi corps commander
[DAWN] Rawalpindi Corps Commander Lt Gen Nadeem Raza in a visit to the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday warned that the corps would "respond aggressively and effectively to any Indian miscalculation or misadventure" along the Pak-India border, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations statement.

The corps commander visited the Battal and Dawarandi sectors in Azad Jammu and Kashmire, where he "appreciated the high morale of the troops" and their "effective response" to ceasefire violations by Indian troops, read the ISPR handout.

Lt Gen Raza, while speaking about India's surgical strike claims ─ which have been denied by Pakistain ─ reiterated the troops' resolve to respond to such "misadventures" in the future, ISPR said.

India claimed to have carried out ’surgical strikes’ against 'launch pads of terror' in Azad Jammu and Kashmire days after 19 Indian soldiers were killed were killed during an attack on the Uri army base in September 2016. India had also accused Pakistain of involvement in the Uri attack while Pakistain denied all such claims.

Following the alleged strikes, tensions between Pakistain and India soared, with cross-border exchanges of fire becoming a new normal. India also stepped up a drive to diplomatically isolate Pakistain on the international platform.

Cleric apologises for banning music
[DAWN] LANDI KOTAL: A local holy man, who had imposed ban on music, on Saturday tendered an apology to the political administration for taking law into his hands.

Sources said father of the holy man, Mohammad Ibrahim akka Bacha Jan, and three other family members were summoned to the offices of political administration in Landi Kotal, where officials reprimanded them for taking law into their hands by not only conducting raids at private properties of some local residents but also imposing ban on all types of music in the Shinwari territory of Landi Kotal.

They said the political administration was under pressure from public after the ban.

In their written apology they contended that the incident (burning of music instruments) which occurred on Sept 8 and the announcements made were result of a misunderstanding and would not be repeated in future.

"We will not take the law into our hands in future and will remain peaceful citizens," the statement said and added that they repented their deeds.

The apology came after strong criticism from the civil society and even the ordinary citizens.

Hakim Shinwari, a local trader, said it was tantamount to creation of a parallel administration, which the local residents won’t tolerate.

Hidden hands busy fomenting religious extremism in Thar: Palijo
[DAWN] MITHI: Awami Tehrik chief Rasool Bux Palijo has warned that hidden hands are busy fomenting religious extremism in Thar and if they are not stopped, the entire region will turn into a hub of religious fanatics within no time.

Talking to journalists here on Saturday, the veteran leader said that America was responsible for all the mess in the region.
Talking to journalists here on Saturday, the veteran leader said that America was responsible for all the mess in the region. Enemies of Pakistain would continue to create hurdles in the implementation of China-Pakistain Economic Corridor projects and various other schemes in smaller provinces, he cautioned.

He criticised successive rulers for failing to formulate strategies to face challenges. The rulers and corrupt officials were responsible for the poor state of schools across the province, he said.

He deplored that on the one hand rulers were eyeing huge coal reserves in Thar to end energy crisis in the country, while on the other they did not bother to reopen hundreds of schools lying closed in the desert district.

He expressed concern

over declining literacy rate among girls and urged his party workers and supporters to press the government to reopen closed schools. "The rulers have deliberately kept people of Sindh in a state of utter backwardness so that they could continue to exploit them," he said.

Three ‘RAW agents’ get bail in anti-state acts, illicit weapons cases
[DAWN] An antiterrorism court on Saturday granted bail to three men, alleged to be agents of the Indian intelligence agency RAW
... India's Research and Analysis Wing, Pakistain's equivalent of the Boogie Man...
, in cases pertaining to anti-state activities and possession of explosives and illicit weapons.

Mohammad Shafiq Khan alias Pappu, an employee of the Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
Water and Sewerage Board, Abdul Jabbar alias Zafar Tension, Mohsin Khan alias Kashif, Khalid Aman alias Dad and Adil Ansari have been charged with allegedly spying for the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), getting training in India, being involved in anti-state activities and carrying kaboom and weapons.

The Counter-Terrorism Department claimed to have tossed in the slammer
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
four of the five accused in August 2015 after an encounter in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and found explosives and unlicensed weapons in their custody. Accused Ansari was arrested later.

Shafiq, Jabbar and Mohsin, through their lawyers, moved bail applications in the main as well as connected cases and after hearing arguments from both sides, the ATC-I judge granted them bail against a surety bond of Rs500,000 each.

The prosecution has so far examined one out of seven witnesses while the high court had already granted bail to Ansari.

According to the prosecution, the accused worked for RAW, got training in India and were involved in terrorism. The court had already declared London-based MQM leader Mohammad Anwar and two others, Mehmood Siddiqui and Mohammad Salman, proclaimed officers.

It maintained that accused Aman disclosed during interrogation that Mr Anwar and Mr Siddiqui had played a role in getting them trained by RAW. It further said that Aman in his confessional statement before a judicial magistrate also said that after training he was arrested and sent to a Delhi jail following a brawl with his accomplice Javed Langra.

Parties call strike over scholar’s kidnapping
[DAWN] QUETTA: Political and religious parties of Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
on Saturday condemned the kidnapping of Jamaat Ahle Hadees provincial chief Maulana Ali Muhammad Turab and said they would observe a strike in the city on Sept 12.

Speaking at a joint presser, Senator Hafiz Hamdullah of Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...Assembly of Islamic Clergy, or JUI, is a Pak Deobandi (Hanafi) political party. There are two main branches, one led by Maulana Fazlur Rahman, and one led by Maulana Samiul Haq. Fazl is active in Pak politix and Sami spends more time running his madrassah. Both branches sponsor branches of the Taliban, though with plausible deniability...
-Fazl, Maulana Abdul Haq of Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
and Maulana Abdul Qadir Luni of Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam-Nazaryati as well as many other leaders demanded taking all possible steps for early recovery of the kidnapped leader.

They warned that political and religious parties and members of the civil society would mount a massive protest if the authorities failed to meet their demand.

They said a strike would be observed in the bustling provincial capital on Sept 12, adding that future line of action would be devised in view of the government’s response.

Most of the leaders were of the view that the provincial government had failed to maintain law and order in Balochistan as the religious scholar was kidnapped in broad daylight along with his son and two others.

Iraq
1,400 foreign women, children left behind by Daesh after Tal Afar liberation
[Iran Press TV] After being expelled from Tal Afar, the ISIS terrorist group has left behind some 1,400 foreign wives and children, who are now in the custody of the Iraqi government.

According to Iraqi security and aid officials on Sunday, those left behind are mostly from Russia, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, and Central Asia, with some also from European countries.

Iraqi officials are currently engaged in the process of verifying their identities and nationalities, as many of the women have lost or destroyed their original credentials.

The group, which is the largest group of foreigners linked to ISIS in Iraq, are currently being housed in a specially-designated camp, which they are not permitted to leave.

On August 31, Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced that the northern city of Tal Afar and the entire Nineveh province have been purged of the ISIS Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorists.

Iraqi prime minister says city of Tal Afar and entire Nineveh province have been freed of ISIS terrorists.
The Iraqi government is currently negotiating with the women’s home country embassies for their returning home.

"I want to go back (to La Belle France) but don’t know how," said a French-speaking woman of Chechen origin who claims to come from Gay Paree. She also said that she has no idea concerning the current whereabouts of her husband who brought her to Iraq to join the terrorists.

Some of the women claim that they were tricked by their husbands into joining the gunnies during trips to Turkey.

"My mother doesn’t even know where I am," said a French woman of Algerian descent. "I had just given birth to this little girl three months before... He said ’let’s go for a week’s holiday in Turkey.’ He had already bought the plane tickets and the hotel," she added.

Tal Afar, situated about 150 kilometers from Syria's border, was among the last ISIS-held cities in Iraq. The liberation of Tal Afar deprives ISIS of what was once a key supply route between its territory in Syria and Iraq.

Iraqi army soldiers and allied fighters from Popular Mobilization Units have been leading a major operation to rid the country of the Takfiri elements.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
More than 70 terror cells busted in last 2 months, Netanyahu says
[IsraelTimes] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that dozens of terror plots were stopped in the past two months by the Shin Bet domestic security service.

"In July and August, the Shin Bet thwarted over 70 terrorist cells that were planning attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians," Netanyahu said before the weekly cabinet meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem. "Israeli civilians don’t know everything that the Shin Bet does."

He did not elaborate on the nature of the attacks or how many arrests were made. The Shin Bet confirmed the number but declined to offer details.

The security service regularly makes announcements of arrests and foiled terror plots in Israel and the West Bank, though it often waits until charges are filed to confirm arrests.

Last week the agency said in its monthly report that it had recorded 110 terror attacks in August compared to 222 the previous month, when tensions around the Temple Mount compound in Jerusalem generated a major spike in incidents.

The decrease brought the number of attacks back to a level similar to before the July conflagration, which resulted in the highest number of incidents in any month since December 2015. From January 2016 onward, Israel saw an average of 121 attacks against its citizens per month.

Shin Bet chief: Hamas setting up in Lebanon with Iran’s support
[IsraelTimes] Nadav Argaman says the Gazoo-based terror group is ready for renewed conflict with Israel

The head of the Shin Bet security service said Sunday that Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, is setting up a base in Leb with Iranian support as part of its ongoing efforts to deepen its connections with the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s "Shiite axis."

Speaking to ministers at the weekly cabinet meeting, Nadav Argaman warned that the Paleostinian terror group, which rules the Gazoo Strip, has "continued to invest considerable resources in preparation for a future conflict, even at the cost of its citizens’ welfare."
