Arabia
Yemeni rebels fingered for child soldier recruiting
Quantifying this general report from a few days ago. Possibly the stated numbers are not greatly exaggerated.
Yemeni minister of human rights accused coup forces in his country of recruiting 20,000 children and planting about 200 thousand landmines.

“What is going on in the country is not a difference in political views, which resulted in an armed conflict, as some believe like the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, but what happened is that armed militias turned against the legitimate government,” said the minister.

In a speech at the 36th session of the of the Human Rights Council, Yemeni Human Rights Minister Mohammed Muhsen Askar reviewed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in his country, and the difficult circumstances the people are suffering.

Askar said human rights violations in Yemen threatened international peace and security, adding that the Government had been forced to use military power, which had led to all the destruction; it was those who were the cause of the catastrophe who shouldered the responsibility for that. The catastrophe could only stop with a clear international stand to implement international resolutions, especially Security Council Resolution 2216. The Yemeni Government would do its utmost to cooperate with the High Commissioner.

“Human rights violations in Yemen threatened international peace and security. The situation was a full coup against legitimacy with the support of some forces; it was an armed coup against legitimate institutions. Hundreds of civilians had been killed, and Sana’a, the capital, had been occupied,” said Askar.

“There was a response by the Arab coalition, and after two months of the comprehensive war, a result had been obtained. It was unfortunate that some did not see the reality in Yemen. All needed to be aware that the coup leaders believed in false ideas that led to dismantling the fabric of the Yemeni society. They thought they monopolized the divine right and could hold power by force,” he added.

“All had heard the political slogans of those militias, every day they called for death to America and to Israel, which ran counter to Islamic traditions, which prohibited contempt of religions. The militias had also recruited 20,000 children and planted landmines, a flagrant violation of the rights of the child and the convention on land mines.”

“The Council had paid special attention to the situation of human rights in Yemen and had adopted a number of resolutions. The resolutions of the Security Council in the last two years had asked Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to provide technical assistance. But that assistance had not been provided as needed. The Yemeni Government would do its utmost to cooperate with the High Commissioner. The suffering of the Palestinian people under occupation and the restriction of its freedoms needed a serious political stance. The ethnic cleansing of the Muslim Rohingya was also condemned in the strongest terms,” concluded Askar.

Houthis threaten civilians in al-Hodeida
DUBAI: Houthi insurgents on Thursday threatened to attack civilian targets in Saudi Arabia and the UAE in response to Riyadh’s call to put Yemen’s Al-Hodeida port under UN administration.

In a televised speech, Houthi leader Abdel-Malek Al-Houthi said his militia’s ballistic missiles were capable of reaching the United Arab Emirates' capital of Abu Dhabi and anywhere inside Saudi Arabia.

"Today the port of Hodeidah is being threatened and we cannot turn a blind eye to that," Abdel-Malek said.

"If the Saudi regime and with a green light from the US attack Hodeidah then we have to take steps that we haven't taken before,” he said.

The Iran-backed Houthi rebels had repeatedly launched missiles and rockets toward targets in Saudi Arabia, including two that Saudi security officials had said were aimed at the holy city of Makkah. In both instances, the missiles were shot down by Saudi Air Defenses Forces before they could cause any damage.

A number of rocket attacks aimed at targets across Saudi Arabia’s southern border with Yemen had resulted in deaths and injuries, both involving military and civilians.

Abdel Malek also said that his group had successfully test fired a missile toward Abu Dhabi earlier this month and said the UAE was no longer a safe country.

He gave no further details and there has been no acknowledgement by the UAE of any missiles landing on their territory.

Yemen President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi's government, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, is fighting to drive the Houthis out of cities they seized in 2014 and 2015 in a rapid rise to national power.

The United Nations had proposed that the Red Sea port of Hodeidah, where 80 percent of Yemen’s food imports arrive, should be handed to a neutral party, to smoothen the flow of humanitarian relief and prevent the port from being engulfed by Yemen's two-year-old war.

The government of President Mansour Hadi has accused the Houthis of using the port to smuggle weapons and of collecting customs duties on goods, the proceeds of which they use to finance the war. The Houthis deny this.

London conference hosts Qatari opposition, discusses Doha’s terror funding
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
i opposition figures, as well as leading US, UK and Middle Eastern politicians and commentators are leading a debate about the future of Qatar at a London conference on Thursday and Friday.

Ansarullah missiles can reach anywhere in UAE: Houthi
[Iran Press TV] The leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, says the neighboring United Arab Emirates (UAE) is no more a safe country as missiles manufactured by the Yemeni group can now hit anywhere in the Arab country.

Addressing his supporters via a televised speech from the Yemeni capital Sana’a on Thursday evening, Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
said that Ansarullah missiles were capable of reaching Abu Dhabi and elsewhere in the UAE.

He added that Ansarullah also had several domestically-manufactured drones in its inventory that would become operational in the near future.

On February 26, Yemeni army forces unveiled four domestically-designed and -produced drones set to collect information on the positions and movements of snuffies loyal to resigned president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi as well as Saudi troops, and carry out aerial attacks against them.

The sole unveiled combat aircraft, code-named Qasef-1 (Striker-1), has a wingspan of three meters and a hull length of 2.5 meters.

The drone has a flight endurance of 120 minutes, and is capable of carrying a payload of 30 kilograms.

Elsewhere in his Thursday’s remarks, Houthi emphasized that Ansarullah fighters and Yemeni army soldiers were fighting against the US’ state-of-the-art military technology, which Saudi and Emirati forces were using in Yemen.

He went on to say that Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
has failed numerous times during its military campaign against Yemen, stressing that officials in Riyadh have not come to their senses despite huge losses that the oil-rich kingdom has suffered as a result of its adventurism.

"Saudi Arabia and the UAE are paying the price of their erroneous policies. Such mistakes have forced them to alter their approach to the conflict in Syria," Houthi commented.

US extends nuke sanctions relief but hits targets accused of cyber attacks
[IsraelTimes] Economic sanctions slapped on 11 individuals and companies accused of supporting Iran's Revolutionary Guards, involvement in cyber attacks against US banks

The United States on Thursday agreed to continue for now to exempt Iran from nuclear-related sanctions but slapped new measures against targets accused of cyber attacks or fomenting militancy.

President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s decision will be seen as a victory for opponents of the Iran nuclear deal, who have called for tough action against Tehran’s alleged destabilizing role in its region.

On October 15, Trump is due to decide whether Iran has breached the 2015 nuclear agreement, and critics fear he may abandon an accord they think prevents Tehran from building a nuclear bomb.

But supporters hailed Thursday’s move, in which the US Treasury announced new sanctions on non-nuclear issues even as Trump’s administration grudgingly maintained sanctions relief.

A senior administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, called the waiver "a holding action," warning that no decision had been reached on the long-term future of the deal.

"This is the action that the US is taking in the interim," he said, "while the president and his cabinet come to final decision in consultation among themselves and in consultation with allies."

The Treasury imposed economic sanctions on 11 individuals and companies accused of supporting Iran’s Revolutionary Guards or engaging in cyber attacks against US banks.

Trump’s administration has criticized the 2015 deal signed by his predecessor Barack Obama
I inhaled. That was the point...
’s administration, but has so far not reimposed the former sanctions imposed on Iran’s nuclear program.

The new sanctions announced Thursday targeted an engineering company, two air transport firms and an IT company.

The IT firm is accused of carrying out denial-of-service attacks on at least nine American financial institutions, including major banks and stock exchanges between 2011 and 2012.

India-Pakistan
Pakistan claims zero tolerance for terror amid pressures for Taliban, Haqqani sanctuaries
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The interior of Pakistain has said the country has zero tolerance for terrorism amid rising pressures on Islamabad regarding the persistent freedom of actions by terrorist groups, specifically the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
and Haqqani terrorist network leadership councils and sanctuaries.

Speaking to a private TV channel, interior minister Ahsan Iqbal said no one would be allowed to use the Pak soil against the others, apparently gesturing towards the growing pressures regarding the sanctuaries and leadership councils of the Afghan Death Eater and terrorist groups.

Iqbal further added that peace and stability in Afghanistan would be in the best interest of Pakistain as the stability of the two countries are interlinked.

This comes as the Afghan and US officials have long been criticizing Islamabad for remaining reckless to act against the Taliban and Haqqani terrorist network sanctuaries as they claim that the leadership councils of the two groups are based in the key cities of Pakistain from where they plan and coordinate attacks in Afghanistan, including some of the deadly attacks on US forces.

Iraq
Iraq dismissal of Kirkuk governor ‘effectively ends cooperation with Baghdad’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraq's parliament on Thursday voted to dismiss the Kurdish governor of the ethnically mixed Kirkuk province, in a move that could escalate tensions ahead of a planned Kurdish referendum on independence.

Iraqi Kurdish leader Massud Barzani responded by describing the move as "effectively ending the cooperation with Baghdad"

Iraq's Kurds plan to hold the vote on September 25 in three governorates that make up their autonomous region as well as disputed areas like Kirkuk that are controlled by Kurdish forces but claimed by Baghdad. Late last month, Kirkuk's provincial council voted to take part in the referendum. Iraq's central government has rejected the polls as unconstitutional and illegal.

Lawmaker Hussein al-Maliki said parliament voted to dismiss Kirkuk Governor Najmiddin Karim based on consultations with Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.

Mohammed al-Karboli, another Arab politician, said Karim "threatens the country's unity and civil peace in Kirkuk."

All Kurdish members boycotted Thursday's session, while 187 mainly Arab and Turkmen politicians voted in favor, the two politicians said. The governor has the right to appeal the decision, al-Karboli added.

Shortly after the session, the Kirkuk governor rejected the parliament decision in a statement, describing it as "invalid" and insisting that he'll stay in office.

"The parliament decision ... doesn't mean anything to Kirkuk and its governor who is still in office," said the statement.

The Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA)
[Dhaka Tribune] Originally calling themselves Harakah al-Yaqin (the Faith Movement), this group burst to prominence in October 2016 with deadly attacks on Myanmar border police.

Bigger attacks on August 25 triggered the latest violence, with the army launching a counter offensive that has left hundreds dead and driven a tide of refugees from their homes.

ARSA is fronted by Ata Ullah, a commander who is believed to have been born to a Rohingya family in Karachi, Pakistan, and to have lived in Saudi Arabia.
ARSA is fronted by Ata Ullah, a commander who is believed to have been born to a Rohingya family in Karachi, Pakistan, and to have lived in Saudi Arabia.

Rohingya leaders have long rejected attempts by outside militants to radicalise the population, believing them to be counterproductive.

But observers say oppressive restrictions imposed since the 2012 violence have allowed support for militancy to take root.

The group may only have had several hundred trained militants when it launched its attacks, but local Rohingya men are thought to have taken up crude weapons to join the fight in recent weeks.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran inks deals to repair Syria’s war-hit power grid
[IsraelTimes] In addition to fixing existing infrastructure, the Islamic Theocratic Republic will build new power plant in regime stronghold Latakia

Tehran has signed several agreements with its ally Damascus to improve the production and distribution of electricity in war-ravaged Syria, officials in Iran and Syria told state media Wednesday.

The deals were signed in Tehran by Syrian Electricity Minister Mohammed Zuhair Kharboutli and Sattar Mahmoudi, the acting head of Iran’s energy ministry, the sources said.

Mahmoudi, in statements published on the ministry’s website, said the deals to rebuild Syria’s electricity infrastructure damaged during the country’s six-year war were worth "several hundred million euros (dollars)."

The agreements involved "equipment, the network and power plants," he said, adding that Iranian firms were ready to carry out the work and that the Iranian government would support them.

Syrian state news agency SANA said one deal involved the construction of a 450-megawatt power plant in the coastal province of Latakia, home to Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Supressor of the Damascenes...
’s clan and a regime bastion.

Other deals stipulate the rehabilitation of power stations in Aleppo, Homs and Banias.

In May, Kharboutli said the Damascus government had supplied 97 percent of the country’s electricity needs before the war erupted in 2011.

That proportion is now down to 27 percent because of the shortage of fuel, he said, adding that before the conflict Syria had generated 49 billion kilowatts per hour compared with just 19 billion now.

Iran is the key political, military and financial backer of the Assad government, and has sent to Syria military advisers and volunteers to assist the Syrian regime fight rebel groups and jihadists.

In January, Iran signed several deals with Syria to build a mobile phone network, a petrol terminal and have the right to operate phosphate mines in Sharqiya, south of the ancient city of Palmyra.

They also underlined the need for coordination among Iraq’s neighbors to oppose the referendum and block secessionist plans in the region that could result in multiple political, social and security problems.

Terror Networks
Bin Laden’s son calls for jihad in Syria
[IsraelTimes] Hamza bin Laden, on US terrorist blacklist since January, believed preparing to take over leadership of al-Qaeda

Hamza bin Laden, son and would-be heir of late al-Qaeda leader the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now beyond all cares and woe...
, has urged Moslems around the world to join the jihad in Syria against "crusaders" and Shiites.

"The cause of Syria is the cause of the entire worldwide Moslem community," he said in an undated audio recording released on jihadist networks Thursday.

"In order for the people of Syria to resist the Crusader, Shiite and international aggression, Moslems ‐ all Moslems ‐ must stand with them, support them and give them victory," he said.

"Wakefulness is essential, as is quick, serious and organised movement, to support the people of blessed Syria before it is too late."

Hamza, who is in his mid-20s, has become active as an al-Qaeda propagandist since his father’s death at the hands of US special forces in May 2011.

Syria has been devastated by a six-year war and given an opening to jihadists including the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group and the Fateh al-Sham
...formerly al-Nusra, the current false nose and mustache of al-Qaeda in the Levant...
Front.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the Sunni Death Eater group that last month seized control of the northern Syrian city of Idlib, is dominated by the al-Qaeda offshoot, which officially broke ties with the network founded by Osama bin Laden.

But experts say the name change was little more than a re-branding.

Many believe the group is positioning itself as more moderate than the Islamic State group in hopes of a resurgence.

The United States added Hamza bin Laden to its terrorist blacklist in January.

The US Treasury estimates that he was born in 1989 in the Saudi city of Jeddah. His mother was Khairiah Sabar, one of the al-Qaeda founder’s three wives.

Last year, the fifth anniversary of the death of the man who ordered the 9/11 attacks on the United States, experts began to note his son’s increasing prominence in the movement.

The State Department has designated him a "Specially Designated Global Terrorist", freezing any assets he holds in areas under US jurisdiction.

In an undated audio message released in August, Hamza bin Laden urged his Saudi supporters to rebel and overthrow the kingdom’s rulers.

Experts believe he is preparing to take over the leadership of al-Qaeda and exploit the Islamic State group’s defeats in Syria and Iraq to unify the global jihadist movement under the banner of al-Qaeda.

Government
House votes to deport illegal immigrant gang members over Democratic objections
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] The House of Representatives passed a bill Thursday aimed at keeping illegal immigrants colonists out of the U.S. if they are members of criminal gangs.

The Criminal Alien Gang Member Removal Act passed in a 233-175 vote, and was backed largely by GOP politicians, and opposed by most Democrats. The legislation was introduced by Rep. Barbara Comstock. R-Va.

The bill would require illegal immigrants colonists in gangs to be detained and deported, and ensures that gang members are not able to receive immigration benefits, including asylum, special immigrant juvenile status or temporary protected status.

"It will provide additional tools to law enforcement that will ensure that when [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] positively identifies a known alien gang member, they may act immediately," Comstock said on the House floor. "We don't have to wait until these brutal killers wield their machetes or leave another body on a children's playground."

Comstock's Northern Virginia district is home to members of the MS-13 gang, which has been responsible for eight deaths in the district since November, according to the congresswoman.

Reps. Peter King
...U.S. Representative for New York's 3rd (central Long Island) congressional district, serving since 1993. He is of the Publican persuasion and is known for his active support for the IRA Irish republican movement...
, R-N.Y., Raul Labrador, R-Idaho, and Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., were also key backers of the legislation.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., an opponent of the bill, argued that the bill could have unintended consequences, including the potential targeting of religious groups who harbor illegal immigrants colonists against deportation. She also warned that the Department of Homeland Security would have expanded authority to crack down on what the bill wrongfully allows to be thought of as a gang.
