As Overdose Deaths Pile Up, a Medical Examiner Quits the Morgue
[NYT] CONCORD, N.H. ‐ In the state morgue here, in the industrial maze of a hospital basement, Dr. Thomas A. Andrew was slicing through the lung of a 36-year-old woman when white foam seeped out onto the autopsy table.

Foam in the lungs is a sign of acute intoxication caused by an opioid. So is a swollen brain, which she also had. But Dr. Andrew, the chief medical examiner of New Hampshire, would not be certain of the cause of death until he could rule out other causes, like a brain aneurysm or foul play, and until after the woman’s blood tests had come back.

With the nation snared in what the government says is the worst drug epidemic in its history, routine autopsies like this one, which take more than two hours, are overtaxing medical examiners everywhere.

"It’s almost as if the Visigoths are at the gates, and the gates are starting to crumble," Dr. Andrew said. "I’m not an alarmist by nature, but this is not overhyped. It has completely overwhelmed us."

ICE official: Agency will arrest at California worksites
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ‐ In another sign of escalating tensions between President Donald Trump's administration and California, the nation's top immigration official said Friday his agency will have "no choice" but to arrest immigrants who are in the country illegally in California's neighborhoods and worksites.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement will also likely have to place immigrants arrested in California in out-of-state detention centers, ICE Acting Director Thomas Homan said in a statement.

Homan's comments came a day after Gov. Jerry Brown signed bill SB54, or sanctuary state legislation.
This could lead to eventual conflict and violence between state and federal law enforcement personnel. Worst case, state ordered military confrontation.

If California is not going to cooperate with the federal government to protect all Americans, then the federal government will have to act on its own to protect us Californians who do not agree with our governor as well as protect the rest of our country from the states overrun with corruption.

BTW, I'm thinking there is all kinds of discretionary federal spending that no longer needs to be done in California. I hate to say it but if Moonbeam won't cooperate with the federal government, the federal government should no longer cooperate with Moonbeam. No more research grants, no more block grants, highway funding pared to the bone, etc., etc. Then maybe some federal investigations into campaign funding for California politicians. That'd be like turning on the light in a dark room full of cockroaches.

It's not like Trump is ever gonna get California's electoral votes anyway.

Leopard strays into car plant in India, stops work for 11 hours
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Operations at one of the three factories of India’s largest carmaker came to a halt on Thursday morning when a leopard entered its premises and decided to stay put.

The adult leopard that was first sighted at 3.40am by a guard, prompting an immediate evacuation of Maruti Suzuki’s 600-acre Manesar premises, a Times of India report said.

Operations remained suspended between 4am and 3pm to allow it to be rescued, said the report. The leopard, which made fleeting appearances through the day on CCTV screens, had managed to evade rescuers but did not attack anyone.

According to the report, the leopard managed to dodge the 15-member forest department team that tried to catch and rescue it all day.

"This area is not directly connected to the production facility, so we resumed operations. There was only nominal impact on our production," said a Maruti official. The leopard is believed to have strayed from neighboring forest areas.

When the alert was sounded, there were around 500 people on the factory premises -350 workers and 150 guards, besides several truck drivers and loaders, who were all immediately evacuated.

Google to use balloons for Puerto Rico phone service
[Al Jazeera] Alphabet Inc, the company that controls Google, is sending special balloons to Puerto Rico to help restore phone service after the island was devastated by Hurricane Maria last month.

The US Federal Communications Commission said it had approved the company's application to provide the emergency cellular service to Puerto Rico.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico has struggled to regain communications services. The FCC said on Friday that 83 percent of cell sites remain out of service, while wireless communications company are deploying temporary sites.

Alphabet, which announced its Project Loon in 2013 to use solar-powered, high-altitude balloons to provide internet service in remote regions, said in an FCC filing it was working to "support licensed mobile carriers' restoration of limited communications capability" in Puerto Rico.

Earlier on Friday, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai announced he was forming a Hurricane Recovery Task Force with an emphasis on addressing challenges facing Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

"It is critical that we adopt a coordinated and comprehensive approach to support the rebuilding of communications infrastructure and restoration of communications services," Pai said in a statement.

Separately, Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rossello said in a Twitter posting late on Friday that he had a "great initial conversation with @elonmusk tonight. Teams are now talking; exploring opportunities. Next steps soon to follow."

Musk, the chief executive of Tesla Inc, said on Friday the company would send more battery installers to Puerto Rico to help restore power after Hurricane Maria knocked out all power on the island over two weeks ago.

Musk said he was diverting resources from a semi-truck project to fix Model 3 bottlenecks and "increase battery production for Puerto Rico & other affected areas".

In late September, Tesla said it was sending hundreds of batteries that can store power generated by solar panels to Puerto Rico to provide emergency help in the wake of Hurricane Maria.

Alan Dershowitz Derides Theory of Intersectionality in Columbia Lecture
[FREEBEACON] Alan Dershowitz derided the theory of intersectionality as the "phoniest academic doctrine I have encountered in 53 years" in academia, during a lecture at Columbia University on Wednesday evening.

Dershowitz called out the concept that sees all historically persecuted groups as targeted by the same oppressors, making all minorities allies in resisting that common oppression, as an oversimplification of reality that makes for the "strangest of strange bedfellows."

Through intersectionality, LGBT activists stand in solidarity with with advocates of shariah, said Dershowitz, even though Islamic law denies the rights with the former.

Dershowitz slammed the hard left and hard right for their similar use of such "identity politics" to bolster their positions, saying both political extremes do not evaluate ideas or individuals on the basis of the quality of their character.

The renowned criminal defense lawyer primarily discussed the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict and how it is perceived on U.S. college campuses. He issued a challenge to tenured liberal, Zionist professors to "come out of the closet" and openly defend Israel on campus.

"Stand up for you students," urged Dershowitz, as he condemned the "propagandistic" use of the lecture podium by many academics who push their anti-Israel views on a "captive audience."

Dershowitz's talk proceeded without interruption, despite expectations from event organizers, the campus group Students Supporting Israel, that members of Columbia University Apartheid Divest would disrupt the lecture, as anti-Israel protesters have done at numerous other SSI programs.

Dershowitz thanked Columbia students for not shouting him down, telling them, "You're better than that."

Gaystapo Coffee Shop Owner Shouts Profanities, Evicts Christians (Video)
[Breitbart] A gay coffee shop owner in Seattle kicked a Christian pro-life group out of his coffee shop because he felt offended by their presence, according to video footage of the incident.

The Washington Times reports that the group, called Abolish Human Abortion, decided to order drinks at Seattle’s Bedlam Coffee after passing out pro-life pamphlets in the area when the owner angrily asked the group to leave.

"I’m gay. You have to leave," owner Ben Borgman said in the Facebook video.

"Are you denying us service?" activist Caytie Davis asked.

"I am. Yeah," Borgman replied.

Lochd! Mo chreubhag! Dìgean mise! Oor Wullie's adventures set to be translated into Gaelic
[Sunday Post] Oor Wullie’s mischief might keep him busy, but he’s still had time to master a new language. For the first time, our iconic cartoon character ‐ or Uilleam Againne as he might now be called ‐ has been translated into Gaelic.

A new version of the Oor Wullie annual is set for release later this month. Gaelic publisher Cuilean Craicte spent a year translating some of Wullie’s classic strips.

"We want to publish books that kids will love and we couldn’t think of anything more fitting than Oor Wullie," explained the publisher’s Mairi Kidd.

But "Jings! Crivvens! Help ma Boab!" proved tricky to translate.

"His catchphrase is so iconic and we spent a lot of time debating our version," Mairi added.

"There isn’t a direct translation so we used popular exclamations."

They settled on "Lochd! Mo chreubhag! Dìgean mise!"

"Lochd is an expression meaning ’mercy’ that is especially common in Harris," Mairi explained.

"Mo chreubhag literally means ’my body’ and sounds quite like ’crivvens’ as the ’bh’ sound in Gaelic is a ’v’.

"Dìgean mise derives from a phrase which means ’protect and keep me’."

China Unveils over 100 Smartphone Apps to Track ‘Loyalty' to Communism
[Breitbart] The Communist Party of China (CPC) is boasting of over 100 smartphone applications designed to allow senior party members to more accurately track their underlings’ loyalty, based in part on how much communist propaganda the individual consumes on the app.

The Chinese state newspaper Global Times notes that these apps "place additional pressure on members to properly and timely show their loyalty and enthusiasm for the Party." Party members can be reprimanded if their superior notices they have not been interacting with other party members, reading speeches by president Xi Jinping, or taking online communism classes often enough through the app. The article notes that those who excel and indoctrinate themselves with the apps may be eligible for prizes such as pens and notebooks.

The apps offer a variety of indoctrination media aside from Xi’s speeches, according to the Global Times‐among these quizzes to hone knowledge of Maoist thought and broader classes on communist philosophy with required homework.

"The apps not only provide online classes to learn Party doctrines, but also enable users to pay their CPC membership fees or socialize with each other," the Times adds. "More importantly, the apps will help the CPC evaluate the performance of their nearly 90 million members in a visible, traceable and interactive manner."

The article provides a number of reasons for there being so many apps, including the use of separate apps for different regional Communist Party structures, different features‐like paying Communist Party dues‐and different developers. They are all being organized under an umbrella project called "China’s Good Party Member."

Trump says N. Korea diplomacy has failed, ‘only one thing will work’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
said Saturday that diplomatic efforts with North Korea have consistently failed, adding that "only one thing will work."

Trump has engaged in an escalating war of words with North Korean strongman Kim Jong-Un, trading insults amid rising tensions between the two nuclear-armed rivals.

"Presidents and their administrations have been talking to North Korea for 25 years, agreements made and massive amounts of money paid," Trump tweeted.

It "hasn’t worked, agreements violated before the ink was dry, makings fools of US negotiators. Sorry, but only one thing will work!"

The US has not ruled out the use of force to compel Pyongyang to halt missile and nuclear tests, and Trump has threatened to "totally destroy" the country.

The mercurial American president also told journalists at a recent gathering with military leaders to discuss Iran, North Korea, and ISIS that this "could be the calm before the storm," declining to clarify his remarks.

Last week, as Secretary of State Rex Tillerson flew home from meeting with top Chinese officials, Trump tweeted that his envoy was "wasting his time" in trying to probe North Korea’s willingness to talk.

The message came after Tillerson had revealed there were backchannels between US and North Korean officials.

Killer of slain Syrian activist and daughter in Turkey confesses
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Two weeks after the murder of the Syrian opposition activist Orouba Barakat and her daughter Hala, their killer has finally confessed.

Ahmed Barakat, their Syrian relative, was shortly tossed in the clink

in Istanbul on suspicion of killing his cousins and has now revealed that he was responsible for the crime.

Standing before The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s Magistrate's Court and the penalty judge, the accused said that: "I am the one who killed Orouba and Hala Barakat, I admit it. They are both my relatives. Orouba is my father’s cousin".

"When I was in Syria, my father and my older brother were killed in the war. I decided to escape in order to get rid of the pressure that was exerted on me to join the forces of the Syrian regime. Meanwhile,
...back at the bunker, his Excellency called the chief of staff and complained that the artillery was keeping him awake...
Orouba told me that I could come see her if I’m ever in Turkey," he said. "So I came to Turkey illegally and started working with Orouba."

’She didn’t give me my salary’
The killer claims that she Ourouba did not give him a promised salary despite hiring him to work for her.

"After I’ve quit, Orouba invited me to her house to pay me. I went to see her that night (the night of the crime) in her house. In the morning, I asked for my money. She said she gave the money to someone else and she had no money left. I got angry and started yelling at her face. She slapped me so I pushed her," he told the court.

"Before I left the house, Orouba brought a knife and pointed it at me, but I took it from her and killed her. Her daughter, Hala, came out of the bathroom. She started screaming when she saw her mother soaked in blood. I asked her to stop but she didn’t comply so I killed her too. I left the knife in the kitchen and returned to Bursa (south of Istanbul)," he said.

India-Pakistan
India's Darul Uloom Deoband issues fatwa banning women from plucking eyebrows
The Darul Uloom Deoband in India issued a fatwa on Saturday banning women from plucking, trimming and shaping their eyebrows and also cutting their hair.

Darul Iftaa, which issues the Darul Uloom Deoband’s edicts, termed the act as “un-Islamic”.

A Muslim man from Saharanpur had asked Daul Iftaa on Islamic laws about eyebrow trimming and hair-cutting. “Do Islamic laws allow my wife to go for eyebrow plucking and hair-cutting?” the man asked Darul Iftaa.

In response to his query, the Darul Iftaa issued a fatwa saying that both the acts were ‘un-Islamic’ and banned under Islamic laws. “If a Muslim woman is involved in such acts then she is violating Islamic laws,” read the fatwa in Urdu.

Darul Iftaa clarified that there are 10 acts, including eyebrow plucking and hair-cutting which were banned for Muslim women under Islam. “Hair adds to the beauty of Muslim women and they should never get them cut, pointed the fatwa. Issuing the fatwa, Darul Iftaa head Maulana L. Sadiq Qasmi said, “Muslim women should stay away from beauty parlours as Islam does not permit them to have make-up that attracts other male members.”

He added that Muslim men too were not allowed to shave under Islam, trim eyebrows, wear make-up etc is.

“The trend of Muslim women going to beauty parlours has increased in the country. It is not a good sign and it should be stopped immediately. We should have issued a fatwa in this regard long ago,” he maintained.

After 20 years, AIM instant messenger to shut down this winter
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] As they say, all good things must come to an end. Just as we reluctantly bid farewell to MSN messenger this time four years ago, the time has come to say goodbye to AIM.

With technology advancing quickly and new communication mechanisms seamlessly blending into our everyday lives, old-school "instant messaging" is no longer a hot ticket.

AIM announced their decision to shut down through their twitter handle on Friday. December 15 of this year will be the messaging platform’s final day.

Michael Albers, Vice President of Communications Product at Oath said: "AIM tapped into new digital technologies and ignited a cultural shift, but the way in which we communicate with each other has profoundly changed."

Various AIM users shared their feelings in response to the news. Many were upset to see another childhood friend disappear, while other users thought the platform had already been shut down nearly a decade ago.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Kaepernick Will Stand For Anthem If He Gets Back In The NFL
I'm pretty sure that ship has already sailed...
As we detailed earlier, in a stunning capitulation from one of the most controversial sports figures in recent memory, former San Francisco 49ers backup QB Colin Kaepernick told CBS Sports that he would stand during the national anthem if given the chance to play football again.

Kaepernick, who has been training rigorously in New Jersey in an effort to re-enter league play after severing his contract with the 49ers in March, said he would not kneel for the anthem if he signs with a team. He also said he plans to donate the money from his jersey sales to charity.

"He's not planning on kneeling - if given the opportunity," said Jason La Canfora, who sat down with Kaepernick for an interview.

#3  ESAD you jackass! The tradgedy is that you are too stupid to see what your race-grifter girlfriend got you into. The even greater revelation was how many ungrateful black athletes in the NFL were equally dumb in following your lead and deeply damaging the game. Nothing will undo the damage but time and the financial collapse for many teams unless the salary cuts for pampered little sh*ts are deep and lasting. The only benefit is you publicly humiliated by folding ....and god help the team that takes pity on you!

#5  Just think, when we bankrupt the corrupt NFL, we may get two or even three better Leagues.

We have nothing to lose as well.
Because nothing is there.
