Ould Cheikh Ahmed stressed the need to "put an end immediately to the attacks targeting the leaders of the General People's Congress, activists and their families and terrorizing them."
The UN envoy said in a series of tweets through his official Twitter account that he had met with "a group of big shots of the General People's Congress", but he did not specify the names of those leaders and the date of the meeting.
He added that he offered his sincerest condolences for the death of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Ould Cheikh Ahmed said he had discussed with leaders of the Popular Congress "the best way to end the conflict in Yemen."
He had "productive and constructive" meetings with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Anwar Gargash and senior UAE officials "to discuss the conflict in Yemen, the humanitarian situation and the best way to reach a political solution," he added.

...And unfortunately - and I say this with the utmost respect for the guys who somehow do this for a living - you're going to start seeing stories, already are in fact, about guys who never should have even gotten NEAR the selection process let alone get the badges and berets. When the demand is that great, the services will do anything they have to to meet that demand.

We’re already seeing a few stories, Mike. But the ones less qualified are getting plenty of on-the-job training that will reveal whether those not born to it can be made. [DAWN] Shifting between soft persuasions and tough advice, the United States is now saying that Pakistain could lose control of its territory if it does not sever ties with the Haqqanis and other terrorists.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson ‐ who issued the advice at a Washington think-tank earlier this week ‐ also said the murderous Moslems who were focusing on Kabul might one day decide that Islamabad was a better target.
The warning followed a Pentagon statement, which said the new US strategy for Afghanistan had "fundamentally changed the battlefield in favour of Afghan national security forces" and the Talibs were now on the retreat.
And this change happened because the new strategy made it clear that US forces would stay in Afghanistan for as long as it took to stabilise the country and also because it gave American troops more power to confront the enemy, the Pentagon added.
The two statements follow the Trump administration’s repeated calls to Pakistain to do more to destroy the alleged safe havens that Afghan murderous Moslems still retain in parts of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), a charge Islamabad strongly denies.
"Pakistain has allowed so many terrorist organizations to find safe haven within its territories, and these organizations are growing in size and influence, that at some point I have said to the leadership of Pakistain, you may be the target, and they turn their attention from Kabul and decide they like Islamabad as a target better," Secretary Tillerson said.

Depending on which way the wind's blowing, Qadri claims to be the author of Pak's blasphemy law. Other times he says it wasn't him... on Thursday made addition to his earlier three demands as he now wants immediate arrest and physical remand of all those involved in Model Town incident and recovery of weapons of offence from them.
For the last few weeks, Qadri has been insisting on three demands, ie resignation of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif ...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab... and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, temporary removal of suspected babus bureaucrats and police officials from active duty and formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) on the pattern of the Panama Leaks.
Though he avoided any specific date and plan for his protest movement, which he was expected to announce, he asked the PAT workers to stay on toes for such a call.
"Both the PPP and the PTI are sitting on my left and right, soon the JI will also be on board ‐ for a movement," Mr Qadri claimed while addressing a lawyers’ convention at PAT Secretariat in Model Town.
"Today, the lawyers’ community has put its weight behind us, which would give new energy to our plans. We have already staged two sit-ins (for the removal of government), the third one would be decisive."

Iraq is "always in desperate need of heroic men who have backed up the army and federal police and who fought alongside them on different fronts", said Abdel Mahdi al-Karabalai, the Ayatollah’s representative.
"We need to continue to benefit from this important source of energy, within the constitution and judicial framework," he said in a sermon at weekly prayers in the Shiite holy city of Karbala, south of the capital.
Karabalai stressed that the Hashed al-Shaabi’s arms belonged to the state and its mission was to defend national security.
The force was established in 2014 after Sistani urged Iraqi citizens to take up arms against IS jihadists who had swept aside government forces and seized control of much of northern Iraq.
But the Hashed, a Shiite-dominated alliance, remains deeply divisive ...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled... and has been accused of a string of abuses.
Known in English as the Popular Mobilisation Units, the various forces within the Hashed can field a total of between 60,000 and 140,000 fighters.
Iraq’s parliament has classed it as a state force operating within the constitution.
Calls have been growing from the West for the Hashed to disband, with French President Emmanuel Macron proposing "a gradual demilitarisation" of the group and for all militias in Iraq to be "dismantled".
But Hashed front man Ahmad al-Assadi, who is also a member of parliament, told AFP on Friday that Sistani had stood up for the units to be retained as part of Iraq’s security system.
The Hashed suffered 7,637 dead and 21,300 maimed in the three-year war to drive out IS, according to a top Hashed commander, Qais Khazali.

"We are deeply shocked and appalled at the mass execution on Thursday," United Nations human rights One man's rights are another man's existential threat. office spokeswoman Liz Throssell told news hounds in Geneva.
The hangings, she warned, "once again raises huge concerns about the use of the death penalty in the country".
The UN had determined that all of the 38 executed prisoners were men and had been convicted for terrorism-related crimes, but could say nothing more about their identities, she said.
A prison source however told AFP that they were all Iraqis, but that one also held Swedish nationality.
The executions came after Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Saturday declared victory against the Islamic State group after a three-year campaign by government forces backed by a US-led coalition to retake territory seized by the jihadists.

The declaration by two US bigwigs on Friday came amid mounting tension over Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel's capital.
The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, ruled out any scenario that did not retain Israeli control over the site.
"We cannot envision any situation under which the Western Wall would not be part of Israel. But as the president said, the specific boundaries of illusory sovereignty of Israel are going to be part of the final status agreement," the News Agency that Dare Not be Named quoted one of the officials as saying.
Another official later added by email, "We note that we cannot imagine Israel would sign a peace agreement that didn't include the Western Wall."
This also came ahead of Vice President Mike Pence's trip to the region on Wednesday, a visit Trump officials said is aimed at reinforcing the president's announcement on Jerusalem al-Quds.
Trump made the controversial announcement in a speech at the White House on December 6, saying his administration would also begin a process of moving the American embassy in Tel Aviv to the holy city, which is expected to take years.

Last week, Sheikh Aymen Elkasaby gave sermons at the Islamic Center of Jersey City in which he called for "Allah to wreak vengeance" on the "Jewish oppressors" of the Temple Mount and to "kill them down to the very last one," according to translations provided by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

The imam said the massacre "could only have been done by the enemies of Islam ‐ the Jews and their subordinates from among the Moslem rulers," according to MEMRI translations.
The November 24 attack is thought to have been carried out by the jihadist Islamic State or its affiliates, who have carried out a series of terrorist attacks in the Sinai, in part because the mosque is associated with followers of the mystical Sufi branch of Sunni Islam, and IS targets any who do not follow its version of Islam.
Islamic Center of Jersey City president Ahmed Shedeed announced that Elkasaby would be sitting down with "interfaith scholars" who would "consult with and retrain him," according to a Thursday statement.
"This is like sending someone to rehab," he told the Algemeiner Jewish newspaper. "The scholars will help him to learn to deal with these issues."
For his part, Shedeed has been recognized nationally for his interfaith work. He was New Jersey Senator Cory Booker’s honored guest at former US president Barack Obama If you like your coverage you can keep it... ’s 2016 State of the Union address.
Last month, Shedeed’s Islamic Center also hosted a gathering of religious leaders from the Baha’i, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Moslem, and Sikh communities.
Shedeed said he had not been present at either of the sermons and had only been made aware of last week’s address days later, when a rabbi friend sent him an email expressing concern, Algemeiner reported.
[The Hill] The Trump administration is weighing a strategy that could stop Boeing and Airbus from selling hundreds of passenger planes to Iranian airlines.
The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that while options have not yet been presented to President Trump, they are expected to include prohibiting the sales, imposing restrictions that could stop any aircraft deliveries or slowing down the approval process.
Boeing and Airbus have agreed to sell nearly 300 planes to Iranian Airlines. Those sales were allowed under the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, pending approval from the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control.
The nuclear deal bars Iran from developing nuclear weapons in exchange for sanctions relief.
Trump disavowed the nuclear deal in October, though he did not withdraw from the agreement. He must decide by mid-January whether to extend sanctions relief for Iran. He is expected to once again say that Tehran is not complying with the deal.
Boeing and General Electric are two major U.S. companies to pursue business opportunities with Iran. Airbus, which is headquartered in France, could also be impacted by a potential ban on the sales.
