Afghanistan
Over 1,000 Militants Killed In Military Operations
[ToloNews] Resolute Support Mission figures show that 1,089 Taliban
...Arabic for students...
fighters, including nine commanders, have been killed in Afghan-led operations supported by Coalition Arclight airstrikes since 9th November.

Resolute Support Mission figures show that in the less than two recent months, over 440 airstrikes have been carried out in support of Afghan Forces in different parts of Afghanistan.

From the total airstrikes, 392 airstrikes were carried out in November and 150 airstrikes have been carried out in the three weeks of this month, December, in different parts of the country including Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
and Farah provinces.

According to the Resolute Support Mission, only 450 Taliban fighters have been killed in the three weeks of December in the airstrikes.

Resolute Support Mission said the airstrikes are aimed to support the Afghan cops against Taliban.

Col. Dave Butler, a front man of the US forces in Afghanistan, said the military pressure on Taliban is aimed to set conditions for a political solution.

"What the US and what the Resolute Support nations are concerned about here is stabilizing Afghanistan to the point where the snuffies are not allowed to have safe haven and attack across the world," said Butler.

Afghanistan Interior Ministry meanwhile said military operations against the enemies have increased recently which have caused fatalities among the bandidos holy warriors and every week tens of their commanders are killed across the country.

"Recently, offensive operations on Afghanistan’s enemies have increased by 100 percent in different parts of the country which have had good results. In every week, dozens of commanders of Afghanistan’s enemies are being killed," said Nusrat Rahimi, deputy front man for Ministry of Interior.

This comes as the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
has raised concerns over civilian casualties
...also known as human shields, which are strictly prohibited by the Geneva Conventions, which dictate that the bad guys holding them are responsible for their fates, not the good guys forced to shoot through the hostages to get to the bad guys...
in military operations and airstrikes. The UN has said that increase in the airstrikes rises civilian casualties.

"Airstrikes should be conducted based on intelligence about the enemy’s location and their numbers. Also the issue of civilians should be considered and the strikes should be done after a comprehensive analysis," said Mirza Mohammad Yarmand, a military affairs analyst.

"The information about the enemy should be accurate. It should not happen in a way that the enemy is in one place and they bomb another place. If they bomb areas wrongly, then people will suffer and the distance between the people and government will increase," said Aziz Ahmad Wardak, a military affairs analyst.

Taliban has not commented on the US Forces - Afghanistan figures about their airstrikes and their fatalities.

#1  "If they bomb areas wrongly, then people will suffer and the distance between the people and government will increase,"

But if you don't care about winning hearts and minds but more about just winning, it's a different kind of war and maybe a different outcome.

Egypt police 'kill 40 militants' in raids after tourist bus blast
[BBC] Police in Egypt have killed dozens of militants during security raids on their hideouts, the interior ministry has said.

The raids killed "40 terrorists" in Giza and North Sinai on Saturday morning, according to a statement from the ministry.

It said the militants were planning a series of attacks on tourist sites, churches and military personnel.

The raids followed Friday's roadside bomb attack on a tour bus in Giza.

No group has yet said it was behind the blast, which killed three Vietnamese tourists and an Egyptian tour guide, but Islamist militants have targeted tourists in Egypt in the past.

Police killed 30 militants during two early morning raids in Giza, while the remaining 10 were killed in El-Arish, the capital of North Sinai province, the interior ministry said.

"A group of terrorists were planning to carry out a series of aggressive attacks targeting state institutions, particularly economic ones, as well as tourism... and Christian places of worship," the ministry statement said.

It added that police had seized bomb-making materials, ammunition and a large number of weapons during the raids.

Security is already tight in Egypt, with the tourist season at its height and the country's main Christian minority, the Copts, preparing to celebrate Orthodox Christmas on 7 January.

Pay attention to US!!! (Whoever us might be in this case, more probably Hasm or one of the other Muslim Brotherhood armed wings than Ansar Bayt al Maqdis/ISIS in the Sinai.
The Daily Mail has photos here.
[AlAhram] Egypt's prosecutor-General Nabil Sadek announced on Friday night that the corpse count in the IED attack on a bus carrying Vietnamese tourists in Giza earlier today has risen to four - three vietnamese and one Egyptian fatalities.

Sadek added that the number of injured stands at 11.

Early on Friday evening, an IED detonated as a tour tour bus traveling on El-Mayoutiya Street in Haram district, Giza, with 14 Vietnamese tourists and two Egyptian tourism workers on board.

Shortly after the deadly kaboom, Egypt's Interior Ministry issued a statement saying that the kaboom took place on 6:15 PM, killing two vietnamese tourists and injuring 10, in addition to injuring their Egyptian bus driver and the representative of the tour company.

All the injuried were immediately transported to the El-Haram hospital.

The interior ministry said that security services immediately dispatched to the site of the kaboom to carry out investigations.

Also shortly following the kaboom, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly headed to the hospital to visit the injured, and directed doctors to provide all necessary medical care.

Minister of Health Hala Zayed had been monitoring the treatment and surgeries for the injured at the hospital.

Minister of Tourism Rania al-Mashat also visited the hospital to follow up on the status of the injured.

PM MADBOULY EXPLAINS DETAILS
Prime Minister Madbouly told news hounds that all tourstim trips and their routes are highly secured in a detailed manner by the interior ministry.

Madbouly explained, however, that the bus carrying the Vietnamese tourists deviated from the pre-determined, secured route without apriori notifying security officials.

"I just want to highlight that following the incident, all state bodies swiftly moved to help secure the tourists and offer the necessary care," Madbouly told news hounds.

Madbouly said the Egyptian authorities has been in contact with the embassy of Vietnam in Cairo.

He said that 20 ambulances were immediately dispatched to the site of the kaboom.

The Prime Minister had said that the corpse count stood at two vitnamese toursits and the Egyptian representative of the tour company, with two of 10 injuried remaining at death's door.

The Egyptian PM also highlighted that Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi is closely following up on the incident.

Madbouly pointed out that terrorism is a global phenomenon facing all countries, stressing that security forces in Egypt are taking the most necessary measures to combat the phenomenon, including strong pre-emptive strikes directed against terrorist spots.

The Egyptian Prime Minister added that "such sinful incident' [like tonight's] does not diminish the efforts of the state in protecting tourists in the country."

Ambush leaves 10 Burkina Faso police officers dead
[France24] Ten police officers were killed and three wounded in an ambush in northwestern Burkina Faso on Thursday, the west African country's security ministry said.

"The toll is 10 officers who have lost their lives and three wounded," the ministry said in a statement, adding that a police convoy from the Toeni region and reinforcements from the Dedougou area had been ambushed.

Security minister Clement Sawadogo confirmed the toll on national television, announcing an increase in police and army forces patrolling the area.

The officers were attacked while heading to the village of Loroni, near the border with Mali, after a school had been attacked and textbooks torched by armed assailants, a security source told AFP.

The wounded, including two in serious condition, were taken to a hospital in Dedougou, the source added.

"A convoy of defence and security forces who were scrambled from Tougan to come to the scene of the tragedy... also hit an explosive device that ripped through the lead vehicle but fortunately did not kill anybody," Sawadogo said, adding that three of the four officers in the vehicle were wounded.

"This is an area that has recently been the target of a number of attacks. Arrangements have been made for regular patrols but we are working to strengthen the security system on all the sensitive axes of the zone," he said.

Burkina Faso has been increasingly hit by deadly attacks over the last three years.

#2  From the article:

Most attacks are attributed to the jihadist group Ansarul Islam, which emerged near the Mali border in December 2016, and to the JNIM (the Group to Support Islam and Muslims), which has sworn allegiance to Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

Those groups are believed to be responsible for more than 255 deaths since 2015.

And there’s ISIS in the Greater Sahara as another possibility. Hopefully someone will get around to claiming this bit of excitement this time.

A military source who asked not to be identified told the AFP news agency that Nigerian troops were "overpowered and forced to withdraw," adding that "the bully boyz carted away gun trucks, ammunition and multiple rocket launchers from the base."

According to the source, the fighters from Boko Haram, who have repeatedly struck military outposts in the region in recent months, stormed Baga in several vehicles.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Gaza Terror Balloon Lands Near Israeli Kindergarten
[Breitbart] The Times of Israel reports: Police said Friday that a suspected incendiary device attached to a number of balloons was discovered in a community close to the Gaza border, and that sappers were called to the scene.

Hebrew-language media reported that the suspected device landed close to a kindergarten. The discovery comes after a lull of several weeks for the airborne arson attempts from the coastal enclave, and hours ahead of threatened renewed violence at the border by terror groups during Friday protests.

Police reiterated a call for the public to be extremely careful around any such objects ‐ balloons and kites ‐ as they could contain dangerous explosive or inflammatory material. Anyone who finds such an object should report it to the police call center and to leave handling of the device to sappers, the statement said.

IDF attacks Hamas’ position in response to rocket fire from Gaza, one toes up earlier in weekly riot
[IsraelTimes] Projectile launched from Strip landed in open area within the Jewish state, causing no damages or injures

An IDF combat helizaped a Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, position in the southern Gazoo Strip, the Israeli army said Saturday. According to the IDF, the strike was carried out in response to an earlier rocket launch from the Strip at Israel.

The rocket fired Friday was the first such incident in over one month, the IDF Spokesperson’s Office said.

The Red Alert alarm warning system was not activated as the projectile landed in an open area, the spokesperson added.

No injuries or damage were reported.

Earlier Friday, a Paleostinian was reported killed as thousands took part in protests along the border with the Gazoo Strip, amid threats by terror factions in the coastal enclave to ramp up violence with Israel.

An Israeli army spokesperson said some 4,000 Paleostinians took part in the riots, throwing rocks and bombs at soldiers. The explosives did not reach the border fence where troops were deployed.

Israeli forces responded with riot dispersal means, including live fire, the spokesperson said.

Also Friday, a suspected incendiary device landed near a kindergarten in a Gazoo-area community, after a lull of several weeks for the airborne arson attempts from the coastal enclave.

Gazoo protesters have launched hundreds of incendiary kites and balloons into Israel, sparking fires that have destroyed forests, burned crops, and killed livestock. Over 7,000 acres of land have been burned, causing millions of shekels in damages, according to Israeli officials. Some balloons have carried improvised bombs.

Second balloon tied to explosive device located in south

[Ynet] A balloon tied to an explosive device was located on Friday in moshav Zru'a in the Sdot Negev Regional Council.

A police sapper was called to the scene to neutralize the device.

Earlier Friday, a suspected incendiary device landed near a kindergarten in a Gazoo-area community, after a lull of several weeks for the airborne arson attempts from the coastal enclave.

Syrian army says it entered flash-point Kurdish-led town, Americans say no
[AlAhram] Syria's military announced Friday it entered the flash-point Kurdish-held town of Manbij and raised the national flag there, where The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
has threatened an offensive.

A Kurdish official said the government troops arrived only at the front lines.

Ilham Ahmed, the senior Kurdish official, said the U.S. troops who patrol the town and the tense front line with Turkey-backed fighters have not withdrawn from Manbij. She said an agreement is being worked out with the Russians and the Syrian government that in case of a full U.S. withdrawal, the government would take over.

"The aim is to ward off a Ottoman Turkish offensive," Ahmed said. "If the Turks' excuse is the (Kurdish militia), they will leave their posts to the government."

There was no immediate comment from Turkey or the U.S., whose troops have been patrolling the town and the tense front line between Manbij and adjacent towns where Turkey-backed fighters were based.

A resident of Manbij who spoke to The News Agency that Dare Not be Named from the town on condition of anonymity said there was no sign of government troops.

State Syrian TV aired footage from inside Manbij of commercial streets on a rainy day, but didn't show any troops. It aired images of a military convoy driving late at night, reportedly to Manbij.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Syrian troops have deployed around Manbij on the front line with the Turkey-backed fighters to the west.

The announcement and the conflicting reports reflect that all sides are scrambling to reach an agreement on how to replace U.S. troops following the surprise announcement by President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
The announcement by the Syrian military was quickly welcomed by the Kremlin, whose front man Dmitry Peskov called it a "positive step" that could help stabilize the situation.

The Syrian military declaration came shortly after the main Syrian Kurdish militia invited the government to seize control of Manbij to prevent a Ottoman Turkish attack.

The Syrian Kurdish group, which had partnered with the U.S. since 2014 to fight the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, have sought new allies, reaching out to the government and the Russians to protect their Kurdish-administered areas in north Syria.

The Syrian government has said it welcomes the Kurdish group returning under its authority. But government officials have stated they will not consider an autonomous area, a main demand for the Kurds.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, all the pieces finally fell together in Fluffy's mind...
Syrian troops have massed outside of Manbij and in southeastern Syria, where the U.S.-led coalition and Kurdish fighters are battling remnants of IS.

Syria's entry into Manbij comes a day before Moscow is to host top Ottoman Turkish officials to discuss the crisis in Syria after the United States announced its withdrawal

Turkey, which views the Kurdish militia as a terrorist group, had been threatening a military operation against Manbij. Turkey and its allied fighters have been amassing troops around Manbij in recent days.

Syrian Army Not in Manbij City, Says U.S. Military

[AnNahar] The Syrian army has not entered Manbij, the U.S. military said Friday, after Syrian forces claimed they had gone into the key northern city and raised the national flag.

"Despite incorrect information about changes to the military forces in Manbij city, (the U.S.-led coalition) has seen no indication of these claims being true," U.S. Central Command front man Lieutenant Colonel Earl Brown said.

Manbij is a strategic city close to the Ottoman Turkish border where Kurdish forces have been deployed since 2016.

U.S. and French special operations troops are also stationed there, assisting the Kurds, but the Americans will be withdrawing under a surprise pull-out announced by President Donald Trump last week.

Brown called on all parties to respect the "integrity of Manbij and the safety of its citizens."

"Our mission has not changed. We will continue to support our coalition partners, while also conducting a deliberate and controlled withdrawal of forces, while taking all measures possible to ensure our troops' safety and that of our partners on the ground," he told AFP.

The U.S. withdrawal from Syria has sent Kurdish forces scrambling to find allies to fend off a possible attack from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
, which views the fighters as "terrorists."

The Kurds have welcomed a regime advance in Manbij province, a pragmatic shift in alliances that will dash their aspirations for autonomy but could help them cut their losses.

Turkey says Syrian Kurds have no right to help from Damascus

[AlAhram] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
on Friday said a Syrian Kurdish militia "does not have the right" to appeal to Damascus for help to counter a threatened Ottoman Turkish offensive in the north.

The Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) militia "controlling the area with arms does not have the right or power to make a statement or invite other elements on behalf of the local population," the defence ministry said.

"We warn all sides to stay away from provocative actions and making statements that will bring further instability to the region," the ministry said in a statement.

Syrian regime forces on Friday entered the strategic northern city of Manbij, held by the YPG since recapturing the area from the Islamic State jihadist group in 2016.

The militia had said it invited regime troops "to assert control over the areas our forces have withdrawn from, particularly in Manbij, and to protect these areas against a Ottoman Turkish invasion".

But Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
told news hounds in Istanbul that there was "nothing certain there" in Manbij after he had discussions with intelligence officials.

He dismissed the regime's actions as an attempt to use "psychological" warfare.

The Ottoman Turkish armed forces have been reinforcing the border with Syria since last weekend.

A Ottoman Turkish delegation comprising the foreign and defence ministers will go to Moscow on Saturday to discuss the US withdrawal as well as the latest developments in Manbij.

Erdogan said after the delegation's visit he could have a face-to-face meeting with President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
in Russia.
