Pentagon: Taliban Distancing from Sunni Al-Qaeda While Getting Cozy with Iran
[Breitbart] The Taliban and al-Qaeda no longer maintain "strategic ties" in Afghanistan despite the ongoing "limited support" provided by Taliban leaders, the Pentagon argues in its most recent assessment of the war.

"Some lower- and mid-level Taliban leaders provide limited support to al-Qa’ida; however, there is no evidence of strategic ties between the two organizations, and the Taliban likely seeks to maintain distance from al-Qa’ida," the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) reveals in its report released last month, which covers U.S. efforts to enhance security and stability in the nation from June 1 through November 30 of last year.

The Pentagon claims that the al-Qaeda threat against the United States stemming from Afghanistan "has decreased," adding:

Hamas arrests 5 suspects in raid on PA television offices in Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Terror group says perpetrators are former Paleostinian Authority employees whose salaries had recently been suspended

Authorities in the Gazoo Strip tossed in the calaboose
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
five men on Saturday on suspicion that they had trashed the headquarters of the Paleostinian Authority’s television station in the territory a day earlier, the Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,-run interior ministry said.

It said the five were former PA employees whose salaries had recently been suspended.

The PA, which on Friday had blamed Hamas for the incident, did not immediately comment on the arrests.

The raid on the offices of the Paleostinian Broadcasting Corporation in Gazoo City was conducted by gunnies, who caused damage to equipment, according to station staff quoted by the official PA news agency Wafa.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the incident.

The Paleostinian Broadcasting Corporation is funded by the West Bank-based PA, which has a longstanding dispute with the Hamas terror group, and the building houses offices for Paleostine TV and the Voice of Paleostine radio station.

Separately on Saturday evening, five people were maimed in an kaboom in Rafah in the southern Gazoo Strip, the Hamas-run health ministry said.

Local media reported the blast emanated from the home of Mohammed Talal al-Ajani, the Rafah Brigade commander of the Popular Resistance Committees, a Gazoo terror group. The kaboom, apparently triggered by explosives, was said to have caused a fire and damage to neighboring buildings.

Israeli troops arrest brother of suspected West Bank terrorists — report
[IsraelTimes] Soldiers said to warn family to give up Asem Barghouti, linked to Givat Assaf shooting; brother Salih was slain fleeing arrest for Ofra attack; Gazoo boats said to come under fire

Israeli security forces overnight Friday tossed in the slammer
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
a West Bank man whose two brothers have been implicated in two recent terror attacks, Paleostinian media reported.

Mohammad Barghouti, 17, was detained by troops in Kobar, a village near Ramallah, according to local media.

Israeli defense officials have said Mohammad’s brother Asem is suspected of carrying out a deadly terror attack on December 13 near the Givat Assaf outpost in the West Bank.

Paleostinian media said Israeli forces threatened family members that they could be deported to Jericho if they did not give up Asem within days.

Another brother, Salih, was rubbed out on December 12 in Kobar as he attacked Israeli security forces in an attempt to evade arrest. He was suspected of having carried out a terror attack near the Ofra settlement three days earlier, on December 9.

Seven people were maimed in the drive-by shooting attack on a bus stop outside Ofra, including a 30-weeks pregnant woman who was maimed. Her baby was delivered in an emergency operation, but died days later.

Salih’s participation in the Ofra attack was confirmed by the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terror group.

The day after Israeli forces shot and killed Salih Barghouti, two soldiers were killed in the shooting attack near Givat Assaf ‐ Sgt. Yosef Cohen and Staff Sgt. Yovel Mor Yosef ‐ and two people were maimed, a soldier and a civilian woman.

The gunman immediately expeditiously departed at a goodly pace of the attack toward Ramallah in a car with Israeli license plates and is still being sought.

Asem was set free from an Israeli prison in April of last year after serving an 11-year sentence.

A number of members of the Barghouti family have a history of involvement in terrorist activities.

Meanwhile in the Gazoo Strip Paleostinian media reported that Paleostinian fishing boats were fired upon by Israeli army forces in the south of the territory.

There were also reports of Paleostinian farmers east of Khan Younis, in the central Strip, coming under fire.

An Israeli military front man said he was looking into the reports. There were no reports of casualties in either incident.

The IDF often fires warning shots at Gazoo boats that sail beyond permitted fishing zones. Israel maintains a naval blockade of the Gazoo Strip, saying it is necessary to prevent terror groups from rearming and launching attacks.

Rakhine rebels kill 13 policemen in Myanmar
[DAWN] Thirteen policemen were killed and nine injured in early morning attacks on Friday on police outposts in Myanmar’s Rakhine state by the Lion of Islam Arakan Army, state media reported.

The Arakan Army is a rebel group seeking autonomy for Rakhine state from Myanmar’s central government.

It has no links with the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army, a Moslem Lion of Islam group whose similar attacks in 2017 sparked a bloody government counterinsurgency campaign against the area’s Moslem Rohingya minority, driving more than 700,000 to flee to Bangladesh.

While the Moslem ARSA group has become virtually inactive, the Arakan Army, which is aligned with the state’s Buddhist population, has taken advantage of the area’s instability to increase its military activities after training its guerrillas in regions controlled by other Lion of Islam groups, including the Kachin in northern Myanmar.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
’s continued their large-scale offensive in the western countryside of the Aleppo province, today, targeting the several areas controlled by the Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels near the Afrin region.

According to opposition activists via social media, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham launched a big attack on the town of Deir Semaan and its corresponding castle after seizing most of western Aleppo from Harakat Nouriddeen al-Zinki.

The opposition activists later reported that Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham managed to capture Deir Semaan and Qal’at Deir Semaan following the full withdrawal of the Ottoman Turkish-backed National Liberation Front
...the Turkic paramilitaries intended to replace with their native jihadi ferocity all the highly trained Turkish soldiers Sultan Erdogan I the much beloved has jailed in the last few years for not worshipping the ground he walks upon. The Uighurs and so forth who did not join Al Nusra or ISIS seem to have ended up here...
from this imperative town.

With Deir Semaan captured, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham now controls the strategic crossing between west Aleppo and the nearby Afrin region.

The loss of Deir Semaan could spell trouble in the future for the Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels as Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham is now able to target the Afrin region for the town.

Denying a previous report by state-owned Syria TV, the YPG said that the two British soldiers were badly maimed when the Islamic State terror organization fired an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) towards the advancing Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in al-Shafah.

At least one fighter from the Syrian Democratic Forces is believed to have been killed as a result of this Islamic State attack.

Earlier today, Syria TV reported two British soldiers with the Anti-ISIS Coalition were killed when a missile hit their positions in the town of al-Shafah.

The Syrian Democratic Forces are currently in control of more than 75 percent of al-Shafah at this time, leaving only the southern part of the town still under the Islamic State’s influence.
The Times of Israel points out:
Since September, more than 1,000 jihadists have been killed in the fighting compared with just under 600 SDF members while 15,000 people have fled Hajin, according to the Observatory.
