NAF Alpha jet destroys terrorists’ hideout in Kaicungul, Borno
[PULSE.NG] The Nigerian Air Force says its Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, has destroyed a Lions of Islam hideout and neutralised some of them at Kaicungul, a settlement about 100Km North West of Monguno, in Northern Borno.

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, said the operation was carried out on Friday.

The operation was conducted on Jan. 25, on the heels of credible intelligence indicating that the village was being used as a staging area from where the Lions of Islam assembled to launch attacks against our troops locations.

The ATF therefore detailed an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform for confirmatory surveillance of the location, which observed significant Lions of Islam activities in the settlement.

Accordingly, two Alpha Jet aircraft were scrambled to attack the hideout.

The two aircraft took turns in attacking the location, recording successful hits on the target, leading to the destruction of some of the structures as well as the neutralisation of some terrorists, Daramola said.

Two youths killed by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir
[DAWN] Indian troops killed two Kashmiri youths in the Khonmoh area of Srinagar, Kashmire Media Service (KMS) said on Saturday.

Clashes between Indian police and residents of the area erupted in the aftermath of the killings, when Indian police used force to disperse demonstrators who had come out on the streets to protest.

The killings took place on India's Republic Day, which is observed as Black Day by residents of Indian-Indian Kashmiree and Azad Jammu and Kashmire.

The call to observe India's Republic Day as Black Day was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), that is led by Syed Ali Gillani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik
...chairman of one of the two factions of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front. JKLF is a Kashmiri nationalist organization founded in Birmingham, UK in 1977. Branches weren't actually established in Kashmir for another ten years. It has the usual demands for separation of J&K from secular India so it can become an independent Islamic rathole. It seems to have no interest in Pak Kashmir breaking away to join it. In 1994 Malik renounced violence after he was released from jail and from that point he and his organization pursued peaceful means to impose their will on the region...
, the KMS said. The JRL leaders said in a statement that India had "no justification" to observe Republic Day in held Kashmire as the territory had been "illegally occupied" against the wishes of Kashmiri people.

Qatar to reportedly halt payments to Hamas
[ALMASDARNEWS] Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
said Saturday it will no longer fund salaries of Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", employees in Gazoo but will still give aid to poor families, after the Paleostinian enclave’s Islamist rulers refused to accept wage payments over conditions allegedly attached by Israel.

We "will not pay the salaries of the Hamas employees", Qatar’s ambassador to the Gazoo Strip Mohammed al-Emadi told AFP on Saturday.

An informal deal between Israel and Hamas in November had seen Qatar agree to send $90 million (80 million euros) through six monthly payments to Gazoo, in exchange for relative calm along the Israeli border, which has been rocked by often violent Hamas-backed protests since March 2018.

The first two monthly payments of $15 million were disbursed and went mainly to paying salaries of around 40,000 Hamas civil servants, while around a third of each monthly payment helped impoverished Gazooks.

But the deal became a major bone of political contention in Israel ‐ whose territory is used for delivery of the cash ‐ and also in Gazoo.

"The tension was very high on Hamas ... internally and on the Israeli government the tension also was very high from the opposition," Emadi told AFP in Gazoo.

Emadi said his country would still donate the remaining $60 million in aid it has committed, but mostly through United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
programmes instead.

"Both sides are relieved now; totally relieved, and it is much better" this way, he said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was criticised by political rivals over the deal.

Last week Israel’s premier temporarily blocked the funds after a flareup on the frontier.

Bombs kill at least 19 20 outside cathedral in southern Philippines
[IsraelTimes] Attack during Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel occurs on Jolo island, long troubled by Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
terror organization.

Two bombs went kaboom! outside a Roman Catholic cathedral on a southern Philippine island where Moslem bandidos holy warriors are active, killing at least 19 people and wounding nearly 50 during a Sunday Mass, officials said.

The first bomb went off in or near the Jolo cathedral in the lovely provincial capital, followed by a second blast outside the compound as government forces were responding to the attack, security officials said.

Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde said that at least 19 people died and 48 were maimed. Police and military reports said the casualties included both troops and civilians.

No one has immediately grabbed credit.

The attack came nearly a week after minority Moslems in the predominantly Roman Catholic nation endorsed a new autonomous region in the southern Philippines in hopes of ending nearly five decades of a separatist rebellion that has left 150,000 people dead.

Although most of the Moslem areas approved it, voters in Sulu province, where Jolo is located, rejected it. The province is home to a rival rebel faction that’s opposed to the deal as well as the Abu Sayyaf group, which is not part of any grinding of the peace processor

Courtesy of Besoeker, the BBC is updating as information comes in. As of 4:45 a.m. ET:
The first blast happened as Sunday Mass was being celebrated at the church on Jolo island, where Islamist militants are active.

As soldiers responded, a second device was detonated in the car park.

The local officials say the first blast happened at 08:45 local time (00:45 GMT) inside the Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, which has been hit by bombs in the past.

The second explosion was shortly afterwards on the doorstep of the church.

Local police initially put the death toll at 27 but later lowered it to 20, saying there was double counting in earlier official reports.

Most of the victims are civilians.

The referendum was the result of a peace deal between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

(IS) group's last holdout in eastern Syria, a war monitor said.

The Syrian Democratic Forces, with backing from a US-led coalition, are battling to expel the last murderous Moslems from hamlets in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said short-range missiles late on Friday hit homes on farmland near the village of Baghouz, killing 42 people.

Among them were 13 civilians, the Britannia-based monitor said. They included seven Syrians linked to the IS including three children from the same family, as well as six Iraqi non-combatants, it said.

The coalition was not immediately available for comment.
"I can say no more!"
but has in the past said it does everything to avoid targeting civilians.

"The area is a launchpad for krazed killer counterattacks," Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman said.

The SDF have since September been battling to expel IS from their last pocket of territory on the eastern banks of the Euphrates River in Deir Ezzor. The SDF has advanced swiftly in recent weeks, taking control of a series of key villages, with IS scrambling to retaliate.

On Thursday, the IS failed to retake Baghouz from the SDF in one counterattack that left a total of 50 fighters dead on both sides, the Observatory said.

ISIS is trying to expand their pocket eastward in an attempt to lift the pressure off their forces inside the town of Murashida.

Should this counter-offensive fail, this will likely be the last time the Islamic State will be on the attack in the eastern region of the Euphrates River Valley.

Kurdish protesters seize several Turkish tanks after soldiers abandon base
[ALMASDARNEWS] Kurdish protesters stormed the Turkish military’s headquarters inside the Dohuk Governorate town of Shiladze, today, prompting the latter to abandon their positions at the base. During the storming of the Turkish military base, the Kurdish protesters managed to take hold of several tanks after setting many vehicles on fire.
Al Ahram adds:
The crowd was demonstrating over a recent Ottoman Turkish air raid that killed four civilians, a Kurdish official in the region of Dohuk said.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
's Defence Ministry wrote on Twitter: "An attack has occurred on one of bases located in northern Iraq as a result of provocation by the PKK terrorist organization. There was partial damage to vehicles and equipment during the attack."

Without naming the base, the ministry said "necessary precautions are being taken regarding the incident."

Ottoman Turkish officials could not be reached for further comment.

Turkey carries out regular air raids near the border against the PKK Lion of Islam group which has bases in northern Iraq and has fought a decades-long insurgency in Turkey.

A second Kurdish official, who also did not give his name, said Ottoman Turkish troops at the camp in Shiladze, east of Dohuk, had initially shot at the protesters and then left the camp.

Kurdish security forces are trying to control the situation, he said.
