Gen. Raziq: Pakistan Still Looking to Destabilize Southern Afghanistan
[Tolo News] Kandahar Police Chief General Raziq on Sunday maintained that Pakistain remains a major destabilizing force in Afghanistan, suggesting a gap between the national unity government's hopes of turning over a new leaf with Islamabad and the reality of conditions on the ground.

"War is all over the country," said Gen. Raziq, who has become famous for his uncompromising tactics and effective campaign against holy warriors in the southern provinces. "Insurgents have not been empowered; they are helped by Pakistain and are equipped with powerful weaponry," he added.

Despite overtures between Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
and Islamabad, to the public eye, very little seems to have tangibly changed in the dynamic between Afghanistan and Pakistain when it comes to the Taliban insurgency. While informal talks looking to pave the way for peace negotiations have been arranged between Afghan officials and Taliban leaders, many experts remain incredulous about Islamabad's - but particularly the Pak military and intelligence organs' - commitment to peace and stability in Afghanistan.

According to Raziq, Afghanistan's southern provinces are slightly more stable in comparison to other parts of the country. Taliban activity is reportedly concentrated in certain parts of Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
and Uruzgan provinces.

"Security has improved in the south," he told TOLOnews on Sunday. "Rebels are active in just a few parts of Helmand and Uruzgan. I have ordered the security forces to eradicate the krazed killers."

In the fashion that he has become known for, Raziq went on to challenge the Taliban over their supposed dependence on Pakistain. "We ask the Taliban to return and support the Afghan government -- if they are not the slaves of Punjabis - or else they will be eliminated by the Afghan cops," he said.

Raziq maintains that the number of active Taliban fighters is often inflated by propaganda and is in fact much lower than what is widely believed. Similarly, he says the krazed killers' territorial gains and casualty inflictions on the Afghan cops are in fact lesser than is portrayed by their public relations team.

Hekmatyar's party to support ISIS in fight against Taliban
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Hezb-e-Islami party led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil...
announced support to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group affiliates in fight against the Talibs.

A statement was released by Hezb-e-Islami and urged the group's followers to support the ISIS affiliates in the event tensions further escalated between the Talibs and affiliates of the ISIS group who were former members of the Taliban group.

The statement also added that the Hezb-e-Islami has an intense enmity with the Taliban group and communists along with Shura-e-Nizar.

No further elaboration was given regarding the communists, however Hezb-e-Islami's remarks regarding Shura-e-Nizar were apparently a gesture towards the leaders of Jamaat Islami party.

Hezb-e-Islami is leading an anti-government Death Eater group in Afghanistan and has been blacklisted by US Department of State.

The statement by Hezb-e-Islami comes as the Taliban group sent a letter to ISIS leader last month urging the rival jihadist group to stop recruiting in Afghanistan.

Taliban insisted that there is room for only "one flag, one leadership" in their fight to re-establish strict Islamist rule.

The letter was sent following heavy festivities between the Talibs and ISIS affiliates in eastern parts of the country, specifically in Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..

Tunisia Beach Gunman Had Worked in Tourism: PM
[ALMANAR.LB] The Tunisian gunman behind the June 26 attack at a resort that killed 38 foreigners had worked in the tourism industry, Prime Minister Habib Essid said in an interview published Sunday.

"We know he was a member of a dance club and was familiar with the tourism sector, having worked in it as an events organizer," Essid told the French-language newspaper La Presse.

Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid Tourists fled in horror as 23-year-old Seifeddine Rezgui pulled a Kalashnikov assault rifle from inside a furled beach umbrella and went on a shooting spree outside a five-star hotel.

The attack at Port El Kantaoui, north of Sousse, killed 30 Britons, three Irish nationals, two Germans, one Belgian, one Portuguese and a Russian.
The assailant was himself later rubbed out by police.

Both the authorities and relatives later described the gunman as having been an apparently normal young Tunisian who had been keen on breakdancing.

A resident near where his parents live in the town of Gaafour had previously told AFP that Rezgui worked "in tourism in the area of Kantaoui", where the attack is thought to have been planned, although there had been no confirmation of this from another source.

Libya magnet for militants from Tunisia and beyond
[ARABNEWS] Lawless Libya has become a magnet for radical bandidos gunnies who receive weapons training in holy warrior camps before launching deadly attacks in other countries, like last week's beach massacre in Tunisia.

The oil-rich North African country bordering Tunisia has rival governments and parliaments as well as a slew of gangs vying for power in the aftermath of its 2011 uprising that toppled dictator Muammar Qadaffy
...a reminder that a single man with an idea can change an entire nation, usually for the worse...
.

The chaos in Libya has "serious security implications for the region," said Michael Nayebi-Oskoui, senior Middle East analyst at Stratfor, a global intelligence and advisory firm based in the US city of Texas.

Libya has witnessed "a small but steady return of fighters" from the conflict in Syria, he said.

Tunis says 3,000 of its citizens are fighting alongside holy warrior groups in Syria, Iraq and Libya, and that 500 battle-hardened veterans have returned home where they pose a security threat.

On June 26, a student armed with an assault rifle mowed down 38 tourists at Tunisia's popular Port el Kantaoui beach resort, the second deadly attack on holidaymakers in three months in Tunisia.

Authorities identified the gunman as 23-year-old Tunisian student Seifeddine Rezgui and said he had received weapons training from bandidos gunnies in Libya.

He was said to have been in Libya at the same time as the two gunnies who in March attacked the National Bardo Museum in Tunis, killing 21 tourists and a policeman.

"It is confirmed that he went to Libya illegally. He was trained in Sabratha," west of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, said Tunisia's secretary of state for security, Rafik Chelli.

He said the Bardo assailants were out of Tunisia at the same time and had trained with Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...
, an Al-Qaeda-linked group classified as a terrorist organization by Washington and the UN.

Sabratha, where Tunisian authorities say Rezgui received weapons training before going on the killing spree on a beach, lies 60 kilometers (35 miles) west of Tripoli.

The coastal town is also only 100 kilometers from Ras Jdir, the main border crossing between Libya and Tunisia.

"Sabratha is on the edge of a region that straddles the Libya-Tunisian border known as 'Jefara.' The region is characterised by a network of formerly nomadic tribes which have made a living out of trafficking and smuggling," said Philip Stack of global risk analysts Verisk Maplecroft.

"The description of Sabratha as a 'training camp' does not necessarily mean it's military in nature. There is a good chance that its main focus is centered on radicalization," said Stack, an expert on Middle East and North African affairs.

Sabratha falls under the jurisdiction of the powerful Fajr Libya militia alliance which last year seized Tripoli, setting up a government and parliament opposed to the internationally-recognized administration.

Security officials in Tripoli say hundreds of imported muscle, including Tunisians returning from Syria and Iraq, have entered Libya in recent months, taking advantage of the breakdown in security.

Egypt foiled extremist 'state' in Sinai, president says
[ARABNEWS] President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, wearing battle dress for the first time in over a year, said Saturday that Egypt had foiled an attempt by the Daesh (Arabic acronym for Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
) group to seize territory and set up an bully boy state with its recent assault on the military in the troubled northeastern part of the Sinai Peninsula.

In combat fatigues he had said he hung up for good when he ran for president, the general-turned-politician met members of the army and delivered a televised speech to troops in Sinai, his first public comments on Wednesday's unprecedented attack.

He said the group had tried to announce "an Islamic state, in their concept, an Islamic State in Sinai. "These are the messages, very simply, that they are putting out to us," he said, adding that the area was now under control.

al-Sissi
...former general under Mubarak, then Defense Minister. Egypt overthrew Mubarak and endured a year of ham-fisted Moslem Brüderbund rule so al-Sissi could run for President-for-Life...
praised the troops for "foiling a very big plan."

"No one can impose on the Egyptians something they don't want," he said. "To reach the Egyptians they have to pass through the army, the sons of Egypt.

The army said 17 soldiers and over 100 hard boyz were killed in Wednesday's brazen attack in Sinai, although before the release of its official statement, several security bigshots from multiple branches of Egypt's forces in the area had said that scores more troops also died in the fighting.

The assault, which was claimed by an Islamic State group affiliate, lasted a whole day and was unprecedented in its size and coordination. The attack hit a string of army checkpoints and involved multiple suicide kabooms and the siege of a main cop shoppe with heavy weapons.

It came in a week of bloodletting that saw Egypt's prosecutor general assassinated outside his Cairo home by a massive boom-mobile, and a special forces raid on an apartment that killed nine members of the outlawed Moslem Brüderbund. The Brotherhood responded by calling for a "rebellion," raising the prospect of a further uptick in violence.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry blamed all the past week's violence on the Brotherhood, which it said was not only the main source of Islamic extremism, but also coordinated operations on the ground.

"All of these attacks were conducted days apart, and showed a level of sophistication and coordination that affirms the presence of organized terrorist activity perpetrated by the Moslem Brüderbund," it said in a statement given to news hounds on Saturday.

Egypt routinely blames the Moslem Brüderbund for violent attacks in the country.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said the timing of the recent attacks make the associations between the Brotherhood and Daesh holy warriors "apparent."

"More than 40 suspects, including a number of women, have been referred to the public prosecution," the official told AFP, requesting anonymity.

"Now, it is up to the prosecution whether to press charges against all of them or not," the official said.

The Saudi bomber killed 26 people and maimed 227 in the June 26 attack in the capital Kuwait City.

KSA seeks end to repression of Rohingyas
[ARABNEWS] The UN Human Rights Council has adopted a resolution calling on the Myanmar government to protect the rights of all people in its territory including Rohingya Moslems.

The council also urged the government to take all necessary steps to stop discriminatory practices against Moslems and members of national, ethnic and religious groups across Myanmar.

The resolution was proposed by Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. violations, in particular against Moslems. It demanded transparent and independent investigations into alleged atrocities committed against Rohingyas.

The resolution also calls on the Myanmar government to stop its discrimination and exploitation, and to begin to resolve the root causes of such discrimination.

The Myanmar government has been called upon to protect all places of worship of all religions, and to help refugees and displaced people return to their homes, including the Rohingya Moslems in cooperation with the international community, as per the resolution.

Saudi Arabia has condemned the ongoing violence and hate speeches inciting racial discrimination against the Moslem community in Myanmar.

French anti-terrorist hotline challenges family ties
[Ynet] The French foreign ministry has set up a hotline which families can call to report a child having become a radicalized islamist; more than 2,200 youths have been reported thus far.

Mary's fingers hesitated above the telephone keypad for a long time. "Damn, this is whistleblowing!" In the end she dialed the hotline to report to the French intelligence services that her granddaughter Lea had become a radicalized islamist.

Seated at a table in the back of a bistro in Gay Paree, this 75 year old woman testified of her decision to call the authorities.

Home Front: WoT
U.S. stockpiles bunker-buster bombs in case Iran nuclear talks fail
[LATimes] As diplomats rush to reach an agreement to curb Iran's nuclear program, the U.S. military is stockpiling conventional bombs so powerful that strategists say they could cripple Tehran's most heavily fortified nuclear complexes, including one deep underground.

The bunker-busting bombs are America's most destructive munitions short of atomic weapons. At 15 tons, each is 5 tons heavier than any other bomb in the U.S. arsenal.

In development for more than a decade, the latest iteration of the MOP -- massive ordnance penetrator -- was successfully tested on a deeply buried target this year at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The test followed upgrades to the bomb's guidance system and electronics to stop jammers from sending it off course.

U.S. officials say the huge bombs, which have never been used in combat, are a crucial element in the White House deterrent strategy and contingency planning should diplomacy go awry and Iran seek to develop a nuclear bomb.

Obama has made it clear that he has no desire to order an attack, warning that U.S. Arclight Arclight airstrikes on Iran's air defense network and nuclear facilities would spark a destabilizing new war in the Middle East, and would only delay Iran by several years should it choose to build a bomb.

"A military solution will not fix it," Obama told Israeli TV on June 1. An attack "would temporarily slow down an Iranian nuclear program, but it will not eliminate it."

Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter, speaking to news hounds Thursday at the Pentagon, sought to downplay the likelihood or the utility of an attack. He said no plan under consideration, including use of the bunker-busters, could deliver a permanent knockout blow to Iran's nuclear infrastructure and enrichment plants.

A military strike of that kind is a setback, but it doesn't prevent the reconstitution over time," he said. "And that basically has been the case as long as we've had those instruments and those plans, and I don't think there's anything substantially changed since then."

U.S. officials have publicized the new bomb partly to rattle the Iranians. Some Pentagon officials warned not to underestimate U.S. military capabilities even if the bunker-busters can't eliminate Iran's nuclear program.

Iran's nuclear program has already been attacked through covert digital action. In 2010, the U.S. and Israel reportedly slipped a destructive computer worm called Stuxnet into Iranian computer systems controlling the fast-spinning centrifuges that enrich uranium.

The cyberattack destroyed centrifuges and delayed enrichment, but Tehran soon recovered, according to the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
nuclear watchdog agency.

Stuxnet did not lead to overt Iranian retaliation. U.S. Arclight airstrikes, and the casualties they would cause, almost certainly would spark a different response.

"It would create huge problems," said Michael E. O'Hanlon, a military analyst at the Brookings Institution. "That said, it's hard to rule out if talks fail."

Met Dawood Ibrahim in London, he had offered to return: Indian lawyer
[DAWN] A senior lawyer of India's Supreme Court Ram Jethmalani has claimed to have met Dawood Ibrahim in London, where the runaway underworld don offered to surrender himself and his close associate Chota Shakeel before Indian authorities.

In an interview to the ANI news agency published on Zee News channel's website, the senior lawyer said the proposal was rejected by the Sharad Pawar-led Maharashtra state government. He added that it was not the chief minister's decision alone, but the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government was also a part of it.

Giving details of his meeting with Dawood Ibrahim, Jethmalani said that the underworld don had denied involvement in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts and wanted assurance from Indian authorities that upon his return he will not be subjected to third-degree torture by the police while in detention.

Iraq
Iraqi MP: proposed amnesty bill serves terrorists
[RUDAW.NET] A Shiite bloc in the Iraqi parliament refused to support a prisoner amnesty bill introduced by mainly Sunni MPs for a reading Sunday, describing it as "serving terrorists."

"We have the right to refuse this bill," Razzaq Mihebis, an MP from the Badr, bloc told Rudaw. "We see that parts of this proposed bill only serves terrorists."

Mihebis said that his bloc would principally agree with the bill that would grant amnesty to thousands of Iraqi prisoners, but he added that it should be carefully studied before passing.

"We should not hurry about passing this law," he said. "Many of those in prion have the blood of the Iraqi people on their hands."

The Shiite MP said that the parliament must keep in mind the victims of terrorism and their feelings before making the amnesty bill a law.

"There are victims of terrorism, their families, the maimed and the displaced," he explained. "Therefore, we cannot pass a law that is against them and in the interest of terrorists."

Sunni MPs are the driving force behind the bill, arguing that thousands of Sunni men have been imprisoned on "vague charges" of terrorism or loyalty to the former Baath Party.

Mihesib argued it is important that political parties reach a consensus on the proposed bill before parliamentary blocs can support it.

"An amnesty law must be agreed on by all parties and the people of Iraq and should not conflict with the constitution," he said. "But once again, the law should not be written in a way that would facilitate the release of holy warriors from prison."

(ISIS) group near an important air base in Salahadin province on Sunday, killing 39 bad boys, the defense ministry said in a statement.

It said the warplanes had targeted ISIS positions around the Speicher air force base, Iraq's second-largest.

"Iraqi jets have bombed many ISIS hard boyz southeast of the Salahadin province capital of Tikrit, dealing a major blow to the group strength in the area," according to the ministry.

"Many of the Daesh (ISIS) hard boyz killed in the attack are foreigners," the statement added. "Along with the casualties, four ready-to-use boom-mobiles were also destroyed."

In an earlier clash between the Iraqi army and ISIS after the city was cleared of the group's Lions of Islam in early May, the hard boyz launched a surprise attack on the Speicher base, reportedly killing a number of Iraqi forces.

Nearly 1,700 cadets at the base were killed last June, after the Iraqi army withdrew without a fight from Tikrit, virtually handing the city to ISIS.

Parliament speaker okays Iraq's 'bloodless partition'
[RUDAW.NET] Iraq's speaker of parliament said on Friday that he won't oppose a "bloodless partition" of Iraq so long as the general public give their consent to the issue.

"We don't have problems with the partition of Iraq if it is by consent and without blood," Speaker of Parliament Salim al-Jibouri said. "The public should also agree with any call for the partition of Iraq."

Jibouri, a Sunni, has recently called for more authority for the Sunni areas of Iraq and has lobbied the United States to arm the Sunni tribal fighters facing the Islamic State

(ISIS) in Anbar.

Jibouri accused regional powers of "preventing the creation of autonomous regions in Iraq,"

The speaker of parliament also warned against the danger posed by militia groups in the post-ISIS era, saying, "The fighters who fight in the security forces today will later become a serious threat,"

Jibouri added that the situation in Iraq after ISIS would be equally dangerous.

"The threats after ISIS will not be less because a huge amount of weapons are in the hands of Shiite militias," he said.

Greater Kurdistan is becoming a reality and neither Syria nor Turkey like it...but really don't have a say in the matter given as how much of the territory in the new nation has been captured from ISIS.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran deploys new home-built long-range radar
[Ynet] Iran says it has deployed a new domestically built long-range radar system, signalling a strengthening of its air defences as it holds what may be the final days of talks on a nuclear deal with world powers.

Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps' (IRGC) air defence force, unveiled the Ghadir phased-array radar in Ahwaz city in southwestern Khuzestan province near the Iraq border, state television

said late on Saturday.

Iran says the Ghadir unit is designed and manufactured entirely inside the country and can detect a plane at 600 km (373 miles) and a ballistic missile at 1,100 km.

In comments suggesting the radar can also identify miniature unmanned drone aircraft, Esmaili was quoted by the Fars news agency as saying: "Discovering and tracking micro aerial vehicles (MAV) ... is one of the special qualities of the Ghadir radar system."

Two Bethnal Green schoolgirls 'now married to Isis men' in Syria
[THEGUARDIAN] Two of the three east London schoolgirls who fled to join Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
in Syria have married men approved for them by the terrorist group, their families have told the Guardian.

Shamima Begum, 15, Kadiza Sultana, 16, and Amira Abase, 15, fled in February from Britannia after deceiving their parents and siblings.

Two of the teenagers have been allowed to tell their families that they have been married and are living in the war-torn country. One phoned and another used a social media platform to tell the loved ones the news that they have been dreading. At the request of their families, the Guardian is not naming the married pair.

Their families are said be be distraught at the news and have been clinging to the hope their daughters would want to come home.

The schoolgirls say that they have been separated and have been living apart for several weeks, in and around Raqqa, Syria -- an Isis stronghold.

The two schoolgirls have been living with the men whom they married in a ceremony approved by Isis authorities.

The two schoolgirls are understood to have been given an effective "catalogue" of men deemed suitable by Isis for marriage. They then made their picks from those presented to them. The teenagers who married are believed to have been wed to older men, in their 20s.

Tasnime Akunjee, a solicitor representing the families, said the families were grieving at the news of the marriages, as told to them by their daughters: "It has caused a lot of distress. It entrenches their lives in Syria, rather than in Britannia. It erodes significantly hopes that they will come back."

The girls initially lived together in Raqqa. They plotted the trip together, drawing up a shopping list of items to take with them.

They had all been gifted students at the Bethnal Green academy in east London, before being lured by Isis propaganda.

They fled on 17 February while they were on a half-term break, taking a flight from Gatwick to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, which borders Syria. A few days later, they are believed to have crossed the border and entered land in Syria held by Isis.

Syria field hospitals forced to close by intense government bombing
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Bombing by government forces in southern Syria has forced four field hospitals to close, with medical workers among those injured by recent bombings, monitors say.

On Wednesday an Arclight airstrike in the village of Saida just east of Deraa city, aimed at a checkpoint held by the rebel group Jaish al-Yarmouk, killed three fighters and a medical worker at a nearby field hospital, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said on Thursday.

Activists from Saida published footage claiming to be from the scene of the second of two attacks to target the small town on Wednesday, showing a huge crater in the middle of a residential street.

A local resident, Mamoon Aloush, wrote on Wednesday that the local field hospital had been shut down following the attacks, due to "the repeated bombings in the area around the facility".

The hospital ceased taking in patients on Wednesday afternoon, but put out an urgent call asking local residents with cellars in their homes to "donate" them so that medical workers could continue treating people.

Rami Abdel Rahman of the British-based SOHR said the facility in Saida was the fourth field hospital in Deraa province to shut down in the space of seven days, in the midst of concentrated attacks by forces allied to Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Oppressor of the Syrians and the Lebs...
.

A hospital in Eastern Ghariya, a small town just north of Saida, announced on Wednesday that it would close its doors amid "continual targeting by Assad's forces".

The hospital closures come as activists warn that nearby Jordan is closing its borders to maimed Syrian civilians.
