Afghanistan
Taliban, Daesh Fighters Still Being Trained In Pakistan: Olomi
[Tolo News] The Ministry of Interior on Tuesday said Taliban and Daesh [Islamic State] fighters are being trained in Pakistain and then sent to Afghanistan to fight security forces.

Interior Minister Noorulhaq Olomi said holy warriors are recruiting the youth and are continuing their attacks on Afghanistan while giving orders from Pakistain.

Speaking at an event on Tuesday which saw security forces destroy 19,000 kgs of drugs along with a large amount of alcohol, Olomi said drugs are one of the main revenue sources for holy warriors.

Olomi said: "Taliban and Daesh [Islamic State] fighters as always are being trained in Pakistain. They are equipped and financed there and are then sent to Afghanistan. They [insurgents] are being given hope while in Pakistain of achieving their goals in Afghanistan."

He went on to say: "Drugs are one of the main sources of income for holy warriors in the region. They continue their attacks and are recruiting our youth through drugs."

Meanwhile the Counter-Narcotics Minister Salamat Azimi said the problem of drugs is a major challenge for Afghanistan.

He said: "The drug problem is a serious challenge for Afghanistan and the international community."

"In order to overcome the problem, we need the joint cooperation of the international community."

The counter-narcotics department under MoI recently announced its achievements in fighting the scourge. Since January they have seized over 100 tons of drugs in 1,135 operations.

They also said the department had seized over 400 vehicles, 240 weapons and 244 mobile phones from drug pushers and smugglers.

The seizure of drugs increased by 16 percent this year and alcohol by 36 percent.

Security force members from the unit meanwhile tossed in the slammer
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
a total of 1,876 people -- including 20 coppers, 29 soldiers, 26 women and two foreigners - a Kazakhstani and an Iranian -- for dealing and smuggling drugs.

Of the total, 227 were king-pin drug smugglers, 49 were middlemen and 1,600 were dealers.

Concerns Raised Over Women's 'Death By Stoning' Sentence
[Tolo News] The Ghor parents of a 25-year-old woman voiced their distress on Tuesday over the recent conviction of their daughter by a Taliban court which has allegedly sentenced her to death by stoning.

The woman was accused of having run away with a security force member, before being captured by Taliban murderous Moslems.

Their kangaroo court hearing was reportedly held in Ghalmin area in Ghor province four days ago.

The woman was found guilty and allegedly sentenced to be buried alive under a pile of rocks.

The woman's mother said: "They have taken my daughter four days ago and they want to sentence her to death."

While her father said: "He [security force members] kidnapped my daughter and gave her to the Taliban. She has been sentenced to death."

The woman sentenced to death has four children. One of them was with her at the time of her capture. This child is allegedly being held by the murderous Moslems, said her parents.

Two of her other children have meanwhile appealed to government to step in and prevent their mother from being killed.

One of them said: "The Taliban want to stone my mother and I urge government to stop them."

Meanwhile Ghor police chief Ghulam Mustafa Mohseni said the allegations are baseless and that the woman was taken by a security force member and police are still trying to find her.

He said: "We are trying to find the woman. We will return her to her family where ever she is."

However a number of tribal elders said the Taliban's decision to stone her to death is confirmed and if government does not step in and stop this from happening she will be stoned in the same area where 19-year-old Rokhshana suffered the same fate.

Rokhshana was stoned to death last month after having been found guilty by the Taliban of eloping with a man.

One tribal elder Haji Nek Mohammad said: "They say they are going to stone the woman to death. Her uncles went to get her but they were not successful."

Afghan, Indonesia Clerics Meet In Kabul
[Tolo News] Religious leaders from Afghanistan and Indonesia came together on Tuesday in Kabul where they strongly condemned terrorism and called for acceptance and moderation among Muslims.
Why Indonesia?
Delegates, attending the 2015 Annual Forum for Promoting Peace, Respect to Human Rights and Countering Radicalism,
...to which no Rantburg moderator received an invitation...
Oh dear. I would be devastated, but I've been taking extra naps to recover from Thanksgiving.
said Muslims should treat the followers of other religions as well as all Muslims with respect.

One religious scholar Faziulghani Kakar said: "The lives and properties of those who are not Muslim and are living in a Muslim country should be safe. These are human rights introduced to Muslims by the Prophet 14 centuries ago. This was the message of the Prophet for real Muslims who want to live in harmony with all people."

Meanwhile the Indonesian Ambassador to Kabul Anshory Tadjudin said that Islam and modernization go hand-in-hand in Indonesia and that is why his country is improving.

He said: "Our people live together alongside followers of other religions and as I said during my speech Muslims, Christians, Buddhists and Hindus all live in an accepted environment in our country."

"This is the way we obey the issue of human rights in Indonesia. We respect each other," he said.

Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs Faiz Mohammad Osmani said it is important for religious scholars to take a stance against insurgent activities in the country.

He said: "We need to be more active than we were in the past. We should not stay calm. In such sensitive situations where innocent children are being killed under the flag with the Tawhid, and our religious scholars are being beheaded, we should stand up against this."

NATO Will Not Allow Afghanistan To Be A Safe Haven For Terrorists: Stoltenberg
[Tolo News] NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said at a presser on Tuesday that after 2016 the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) mission will focus only on training and mentoring in Afghanistan and that bases will be located in only four provinces in the country.

The two-day meeting of NATO foreign ministers began on Tuesday in Brussels at the organization's headquarters.

NATO Secretary-General said on the sidelines of the meeting that Afghanistan is an important country for NATO, which will not allow the country to become a safe haven for Death Eaters as Afghanistan's insecurity was in turn a big threat to the security of NATO countries.

"We are in Afghanistan to prevent that Afghanistan again becomes a safe haven for international terrorists. It is also in our security interests to make sure that doesn't happen. So we are in Afghanistan of course to support Afghans but we are in Afghanistan also to support ourselves because if Afghanistan becomes a safe haven for international Death Eaters that will also be a threat to us," he said.

Stoltenberg said he supported the grinding of the peace processor by the Afghan government and asked the neighboring countries to help with the process.

"We welcome efforts by all parties to further an Afghan-owned and an Afghan-led inclusive grinding of the peace processor. Good noble relations and regional support and cooperation remain essential for a stable Afghanistan that we all want to see," he added.

These comments come on the heels of earlier statements that NATO will keep 12,000 troops in Afghanistan until the end of 2016.

NATO agrees to keep troops in Afghanistan, seeks army funding
[REUTERS] The NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
allies decided on Tuesday to hold alliance troop levels in Afghanistan steady at about 12,000 next year and launched a campaign to fund the 350,000 Afghan forces it hopes can some day secure the country against Talibs.

Fourteen years after the United States first sent troops to Afghanistan, NATO governments have doubts about the ability of its army and police to defend against Taliban fighters, who briefly took over the northern city of Kunduz in September.

As a result, the 28-member Western alliance is abandoning plans to slash its troop levels by the end of this year.

"We are in Afghanistan to prevent that Afghanistan again becomes a safe haven for international gunnies ... that is also in our security interest to make sure that that doesn't happen," NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said at a meeting of NATO foreign ministers.

Excluding U.S. counter-terrorism forces, NATO will have about 12,000 troops in Afghanistan for most of next year, made up of about 7,000 U.S. forces and 5,000 from the rest of NATO and its partners such as non-NATO member Georgia.

At Tuesday's meeting, allies also launched a campaign to raise about $3 billion euros to help pay for Afghanistan's state security forces from 2018.

Pressure Mounts on Puntalnd leader to Sign Peace Deal
International and national pressure is mounting on Puntland leader Abdiwali Mohamed Ali Gaas to sign a peace deal to end Galkayo fighting with his Galmudug counterpart Abdikarin Hussein Guled. UN envoy for Somalia Nickolas Kay, EU ambassador, diplomats and Somali prime minister Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke held a meeting with Puntland leader in northern Galkayo on Tuesday.

On Monday, president Abdiwali Mohamed Ali Gas has declined to ink the peace deal proposed by Somali premier and the country’s regional leaders, saying he would not sit down with Galmudug leader on the negotiating table.

Mr Gaas insists that his admin has an ample evidence that show the Somali National Army sided with Galmudug state troops and engaged to attack Puntland forces in northern Galkayo on 22, November.

Puntland and Galmudug forces battled over the construction of a road, which Puntland is trying to build in northern Galkayo’s Garsoor village that divides the two states.

Tunisian security minister fired after ISIS-claimed attacks
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid has dismissed the country's security minister after an ISIS-claimed suicide kaboom killed 12 members of the presidential guard last week.

Secretary of State for Security Affairs Rafik Chelly lost his job Tuesday after the third bombing claimed by ISIS this year, following deadly attacks at the Bardo Museum in Tunis and in the resort of Sousse.

A government statement didn't specify a reason for Chelly's dismissal, merely noting that he is being "called to other duties."

In recent weeks, Tunisia's government has said that security forces dismantled several radical jihadi cells planning attacks against tourist sites and public figures.

It says that dozens of suspected bully boyz have been placed in durance vile

Arabia
End of Yemen war up to Houthis
Arab coalition forces and their Yemeni allies will pursue a military campaign to end an Iranian-backed coup until the rebels agree to join UN-sponsored peace negotiations; the coalition spokesman was reported on Tuesday as saying.

“Halting the military operations is up to the Houthis and their allies…if they want to end this war and go to the negotiating table, then it will end…otherwise the operations will continue until security and stability in Yemen and its neighbors is achieved,” Brigadier Ahmed Assiri said, quoted by Rotana Gulf satellite TV channel.

He said the war, which has entered its ninth month, has dragged on because the insurgents have strong military capabilities.

But he stressed that the Saudi-dominated coalition as well as the national Yemeni army and the resistance would not stop the war before the rebels agree to peace terms.

“We are in a war against a large force which has a large number of men and large military capabilities…we are fighting the Houthis and their allies, including part of the Yemeni regular army and the Republican Guards, and the Central Security Forces…they are trained forces and have capabilities that surpass those of some Arab countries,” the Saudi army general said.

“But the military operation we launched early this year will continue until the other party reaches a conclusion that they must abide by UN Security Council Resolution 2216.”

80 books promoting Brotherhood banned
[ARABNEWS] The Ministry of Education has banned all schools, libraries and resource centers from using 80 books of writers linked to the outlawed Moslem Brüderbund organization.

The writers include Hassan Al-Banna, Sayyid Qutb and Yousuf Al-Qaradawi
...crackpot Egyptian Islamist theologian. He is best known for his program Shariah and Life on Al Jazeera, with an estimated audience of 60 million kindred souls worldwide. He is also well-known for IslamOnline, which occasionally advocates things like slavery and thumping the old lady with a rod no thicker than an inch, and has published more than 120 books, including Islam: The Future Civilization. Joe has long had a prominent role within the intellectual leadership of the Moslem Brüderbund. Some of his views have been controversial in the West, though less so among the rubes of the Mysterious East, and he was refused entry to the United Kingdom in 2008. In 2004, 2,500 Muslim academics from Saudi Arabia, Iraq and from the Palestinian territories condemned Qaradawi, and accused him of giving Islam a bad name....
, reported an online publication on Tuesday, quoting a circular issued by the ministry.

The circular stated that these books should be handed to the ministry within two weeks. The ministry has also warned education departments and schools not to accept any gifts other than those given by the ministry.

The banned books include "Allah and the Islamic Faith," and "The Ten Principles" by Hassan Al-Banna, "The Lawful and Prohibited in Islam" by Yousuf Al-Qaradawi and "Shubhaat Hawl Al-Islam" by Sayyid Qutb.

Declare war on deviant thoughts 'to defeat foes of Islam'
[ARABNEWS] Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh has called on preachers in the Kingdom to fight deviant thoughts and values that are not Islamic.

"This is in keeping with the significant role you play in contemporary Saudi society in view of various attempts to destabilize security and Islamic teachings and values," Al-Asheikh said. He made the call during a meeting with preachers and workers in Badiah district.

Al-Asheikh said that guiding Muslims along the right path in accordance with correct teachings and values is part and parcel of their Islamic duties and responsibilities.

However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
he said: "While you go about your task in disseminating Islamic thoughts, you're at the same time expected to exercise tolerance to achieve the desired goals." He urged preachers to be focused and exercise patience in the pursuit of what is right and proper, and to keep their links and associations with scholars.

Al-Qaeda warns Saudi Arabia ahead of mass execution
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The global holy warrior network of al-Qaeda has warned the government of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
of consequences in case the planned mass execution is carried out.

Rooters news agency reports that the group's affiliate in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
known as Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula
...the latest incarnation of various Qaeda and Qaeda-allied groups, including the now-defunct Aden-Abyan Islamic Army that boomed the USS Cole in 2000...
(AQAP) said it was aware of Saudi intentions to execute its members in Saudi prisons and pledged to carry out attacks in response.

"We swear to God, our blood will be shed before the blood of our captives, and their pure blood will not dry before we shed the blood of the soldiers of Al Saud," according to Rooters, the group said in a statement which was posted on Twitter and dated Tuesday. "We will not enjoy life unless we get the necks of the Al Saud rulers."

Okaz newspapaer which has close links with the Saudi Interior Ministry recently reported that Saudi government is going to execute 55 men convicted of terrorism offences, among those, reportedly some members of al-Qaeda.

The mass beheadings are believed to take place in a single day in several cities across the kingdom, most likely after Friday prayers.

Amnesia Amnesty International, an organization which focuses on human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
has expressed alarm over the report saying that given the spike in executions this year, it has no option but to take the reports very seriously.

According to Amnesia Amnesty International, Saudi Arabia has executed at least 151 people this year while last year a total of 90 people were executed.

State Department 'troubled' by Moscow's move against Soros groups
[FOXNEWS] The U.S. State Department says it is "troubled" by Russia's decision to ban two of liberal billionaire George Soros' pro-democracy charities and label the organizations a threat to national security.

"Today's designation of the Open Society Foundations and the Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation as so-called 'undesirable' organizations will only further restrict the work of civil society in Russia for the benefit of the Russian people," State Department front man Mark Toner said Monday. "This action is yet another example of the Russian Government's growing crackdown on independent voices and a deliberate step to further isolate the Russian people from the world."

A spokesperson from Russia's Prosecutor General's Office said the activities of the fund are threats to state security and the Russian constitution, Radio Free Europe reports.

The Open Society Foundations said in a statement on its website that it was "dismayed" by the decision.

"Contrary to the Russian prosecutor's allegations, the Open Society Foundations have, for more than a quarter-century, helped to strengthen the rule of law in Russia and protect the rights of all," the statement read.

Prosecutors started investigating the charity fund in July after Russian senators flagged a list of 12 groups that required a closer look over their supposed anti-Russian activities, RT reports.

Other groups on the list include the National Endowment for Democracy, the International Republican Institute, the MacArthur Foundation and Freedom House.

The mission requires approval by Germany's lower house of parliament, which may hold a vote as early as this week. About 1,200 German troops will be deployed, General Volker Wieker, the head of the armed forces, was quoted as saying by Bild am Sonntag newspaper.

... During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011, HRW received a pledge from the Foundation to Promote Open Society, of which George Soros is Chairman, for general support totaling $100,000,000. The grant is being paid in installments of $10,000,000 over ten years.Through June 30, 2013, HRW had received $30,000,000 towards the fulfillment of the pledge....
said Tuesday.

In a scathing report,
...they do enjoy scathing, especially if a substantial tea is laid on for restoring strength afterward...
...only when it's safe to scathe. They don't want to lose their heads over the scathing...
the international rights group decries the lack of prosecutions of those involved in the Central Intelligence Agency's secret program to torture detainees in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

It said there is enough evidence for the attorney general to order criminal probes.

The 153-page report outlines evidence to support the main criminal charges that could be brought against those behind what is referred to so-called "enhanced interrogation" techniques, and challenges claims that prosecutions are impossible.

"US officials who created, authorized and implemented the CIA program should be among those investigated for conspiracy to torture as well as other crimes," the report summary states

Man held for printing fake visas
[DAWN] LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday tossed in the slammer
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
a man involved in printing fake visas.

"The FIA arrested Sajjad alias Naumi from Bilal Ganj and recovered fake visa printing machines and fake visa stickers," FIA Deputy Director Lahore Muhammad Ahmad told the media.

He said the accused had been printing fake visa stickers for different countries, including the USA, Canada, Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and Dubai.

He said the FIA had got information about Sajjad through some agents arrested during its ongoing campaign against human smugglers.

He said a good number of agents of different areas used to come to buy fake visa stickers from the suspect.

A case has been registered against him.

#1  Personally I think in addition to whatever time you get for counterfitting visa's you should also serve time for every crime committed by one using your counterfit visa. Someone gets a life sentence and they used your visa to get into the country, well that's a life sentence buddy. Suck it up.

Such a move would reduce the number of opportunist.

Displaced Yezidi families afraid of returning home
[ARA News] DUHOK – Although the Peshmerga forces and allied local fighters, backed by the U.S.-led coalition, have recaptured the Yezidi district of Sinjar (Shingal) and the surrounding villages in northern Iraq from the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS), the displaced Yezidi civilians are still reluctant to return home.

Some displaced Yezidis complained about the ISIS-led mass destruction of the towns and villages in Shingal, while others expressed their concerns about explosives and land-mines left behind by the terror group.

Speaking to ARA News in Shingal, Arif Khalil, one of the few Yezidis who revisited the region after its liberation, said: “On my way back to my house, I was struck by the scale of devastation that hit the villages and towns of the area. In Shingal, some houses were destroyed completely, while others half destroyed.”

“Many houses in the region have been looted and robbed,” he added.

Khalil pointed out that Shingal needs an intensive reconstruction campaign “after this devastating war”.

Salim Akhdar, a displaced Yezidi man, spoke to ARA News in the Duhok camp for Yezidi refugees in Iraqi Kurdistan, saying the land-mines planted by the terror group in Shingal region hinder his return with his family to to their hometown.

“Shingal had been under ISIS’s control for more than 15 months, and we are quite aware of the brutality of this group. The displaced civilians are reluctant to return home for fear of deadly accidental explosions,” he said.

Akhdar pointed out that life in “impossible” in the Shingal (Sinjar) region at the moment; “people’s return may take a long time due to the risky obstacles”.

“Shingal’s infrastructure has been destroyed due to the heavy shelling and bombings. Without rebuilding the basic infrastructure people would not be able to live in the region at all,” Hakim Kalash, another Yezidi refugee, told ARA News.

“Life will return to the Yezidi region but very slowly because the military operations are still ongoing, and many families have lost confidence in the return of stability and safety to Shingal following ISIS’s atrocities against innocent civilians.”

“ISIS still poses a threat to Shingal,” Kalash concluded.

The Shingal region had been under ISIS control for more than a year, where thousands of Yezidi civilians suffered from the atrocities of the extremist group.

The anti-ISIS operations started when the Peshmerga forces blocked most of the group’s supply lines in the area, breaking into the western neighborhoods of Shingal.

Shingal town and its environs enjoy a strategic location, and it connects the cities of Raqqa in eastern Syria with Mosul in northern Iraq –both held by ISIS.

In August last year, ISIS extremists had taken control of Shingal, causing a mass displacement of nearly 400,000 people to Duhok and Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan. Tens of thousands of Yezidis remained trapped in Mount Sinjar, suffering mass killings, kidnappings and rape cases.

On November 13, The Kurdish Peshmerga forces in Iraqi Kurdistan announced the liberation of the entire Yezidi district of Shingal (Sinjar) in the northern Iraqi province of Nineveh after fierce battles with ISIS extremists.

Prisoner swap deal frees Lebanese soldiers and Daesh leader's ex-wife
The ex-wife? Now that's a level of depravity I have not seen for some time
Al Qaeda's Syrian wing, the Nusra Front, released 16 Lebanese soldiers and policemen held captive since August, 2014 on Tuesday in a Qatari-mediated deal that also secured freedom for a jailed ex-wife of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
Hmmm, I think I'm beginning to see a way to stop the ISIS hard boyz from kidnapping and beheading. Of course Human Rights Watch won't agree with me...
The Nusra Front seized the Lebanese during an attack on the border town of Arsal mounted together with the Daesh group which is still believed to be holding nine soldiers captured in the incursion.

Live TV footage from the border area between Lebanon and Syria showed the Lebanese captives in vehicles accompanied by masked men armed with assault rifles and waving the Nusra Front flag before they were released to the Red Thingy Cross.

Thirteen militants in Lebanese jails, including Saja Al Dulaimi, the ex-wife of Baghdadi, were also released. Dulaimi, fully veiled, was shown in live TV footage from the area with her three children who were with her in prison. Nusra Front fighters were shown kissing and hugging the sons of Dulaimi, who was arrested by the Lebanese authorities a year ago. Speaking to Al Jazeera, she said her wish was to return to Beirut and then to leave to Turkey.

"We accomplished the entire agreement with Nusra. We received our heroic soldiers and we are on our way back to Beirut," top Lebanese security official Abbas Ibrahim, who oversaw the swap, said by telephone.

"This joy not complete until the return of those kidnapped by Daesh. We are ready to negotiate with Daesh if we find someone to negotiate with," he said.

The Nusra Front fighters chanted "God is great" as they arrived with the captives in preparation for the swap. One of the captives, interviewed by Al Jazeera, said the group had treated them well. Nusra has killed four of the captives.

"Praise be to God. The joy cannot be described," another of the captives told Al Jazeera.

The exchange began with the Nusra Front releasing the body of one of the Lebanese soldiers it had killed in captivity, Mohamed Hamieh.
I would have released the body of a Daesh deader in reply. If I didn't have one handy I'd make one...
Qatar has been involved in efforts to mediate the release of the captives for a year or more. A previous effort to secure their release broke down a year ago after one of the captives was killed.

Russia adding 2nd airbase in Syria, pursuing 'expansion' in military campaign
[FOXNEWS] Russia has expanded its military operations in Syria to include a second airbase as well as other posts, according to a U.S. official briefed on the latest intelligence from the region -- even as President B.O. expresses muted optimism that Russian President Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...
eventually will "shift" his strategy and work with the West.

Moscow's presence has grown to a total of four forward operating bases, including recently added bases in Hama and Tiyas. But the most concerning to the Pentagon is the second airbase in Shayrat which can support fixed-wing aircraft, greatly expanding Russia's capability for Arclight airstrikes, which began on Sept. 30.

"The Russians are operating helicopters out of Shayrat airport, but they are making [preparations] to land fixed-wing aircraft," another U.S. official confirmed to Fox News.

Shayrat is located 25 miles outside of the Syrian city of Homs, an hour drive from neighboring Leb.

#10  Over in the States, lawyers are officers of the court. While they represent the accused, they are also responsible to uphold the law. Thus, if the lawyer knows that the law is being broken, they have a duty to the court to report it as such. Thus the old movie meme "Don't tell me. I don't want to know". Unfortunately, when they do know and don't act, they themselves become accessories to the fact. If they discover culpable information about their client, they may asked to be recused and lawyer-client privilege kicks in. See - Lynne Stewart.

Top military officer contradicts Obama, says ISIS not 'contained'
[FOXNEWS] America's top-ranking military officer found himself at odds Tuesday with the nation's commander-in-chief over his claim that the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
was "contained" -- an assertion President B.O. had made before the Gay Paree terror attacks.

Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, gave a dim assessment when asked during a House Armed Services Committee hearing whether that's the case.

"We have not contained ISIL currently," Dunford told Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Va.

The answer runs counter to the claim made by Obama last month in an ABC News interview when asked about the status of the anti-ISIS campaign.

"I don't think they're gaining strength. What is true is that from the start our goal has been first to contain, and we have contained them. They have not gained ground in Iraq. And in Syria, they'll come in, they'll leave, but you don't see this systematic march by ISIL across the terrain," Obama said.

The remarks were made a day before the Nov. 13 Gay Paree terror attacks, which were carried out by ISIS holy warriors, and later had to be clarified by the White House as the administration faced bipartisan criticism. White House Deputy Press Secretary Ben Rhodes said Obama was referring specifically to the group's geographic expansion in Iraq and Syria.

#4  The man's got a problem. Congress is the authenticating authority to the appointment of the chairman. He can fire, he can't keep anyone in the chair unless the Senate OKs. At this point it would become interesting if the chiefs don't fall in line. If he sacks the lot it may well precipitate an issue his agents can't hide in an election year. Given the regard the public has in its uniform military vs the rest of the government and MSM, it's not a fight I'd take on. Even if he sacks them, they remain on the payroll. Only Courts Martial can 'fire' them, and then, by the law, that can only be done by other uniformed personnel. With an election just a year away, those who execute the dirty work will themselves face the same venue shortly thereafter. May we live in interesting times.
