Afghan Refugees In Iran 'Sent To Fight' Syrian War
Mahdi Army proxies, no doubt...
A number of refugees who recently returned from Iran claim that Iranian officials are sending Afghan refugees to Syria to fight for Bashar Assad's regime.

The return refugees also said Iran's intelligence ministry promise Afghans money and permanent residency in exchange for them going to Syria to fight.

U.S Will Not Allow IS Safe Havens in Afghanistan
Following reports about Daesh and Taliban's joining forces in Nangarhar province, the U.S Department of State has said that they are monitoring terrorist activity in Afghanistan and that they will not let Daesh and its factions establish safe havens in the country.

They also said they would see to it that the group does not secure material support in the country.

Commander of 201 Selab Corps, General Mohammad Zaman Wazir, recently said the Taliban and Daesh have in the past clashed but in the past two months, no cross-fighting has been recorded.

However, a number of Daesh commanders were recently killed in military operations, Wazir said.

"At least 23 Daesh commanders including the commander of Khurasan faction, Hafiz Saeed, were killed in foreign troops' drone strikes and their bodies all still there," Wazir said.

Commenting on Wazir's statement, the U.S State Department press office director, Elizabeth Trudeau, said in an chat with media that they are aware of the reports and that they are monitoring the terrorist group's activities in the country.

"We're aware of the reports. We're obviously monitoring for the presence of Daesh-affiliated individuals and groups in Afghanistan. We remain actively engaged with the government of Afghanistan, as well as our partners in the region, to deny terrorist organizations such as Daesh or their branches safe havens and material support," she said.

The Zabul provincial council meanwhile said they are concerned about an increase in Daesh activities in parts of the province.

"Daesh rebels are active in Khak Afghan and Arghandab districts [in Zabul] where they have erected over 300 tents and are living," said Ata Jan Haqbayan, a member of the Zabul provincial council.

However, Zabul police chief Mirwais Noorzai said they launched military operations and have eliminated Daesh fighters from the area.

"We carried out military operations in areas where Daesh had activities and we eliminated them, but in some areas they are out of security forces' access," Noorzai added.

The Interior Ministry meanwhile said Daesh is a threat to the country's security, but the alliance with Taliban is not an important matter.

"We believe that the alliance of Taliban and Daesh is a fragile issue and it will not continue. But Daesh is a threat and there is a serious will in government to destroy and uproot all terrorist groups," said Najib Danish, deputy spokesman for the interior ministry.

Daesh has reportedly increased its activities in the country's eastern parts – including Nangarhar province. However, the Afghan Defense Ministry this week said they have increased air and ground operations against the insurgent group to end their activities in the eastern regions.

Over 140,000 ANA Troops On Active Duty
Quite an army...
As war wages in parts of the country, including in Helmand and Nangarhar, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said that over 140,000 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers are fighting insurgents in Afghanistan.

The Defense Ministry spokesman Dawlat Waziri told TOLOnews on Tuesday that the soldiers will suppress terrorists effectively if they are attacked. He said about three quarters of a total 195,000 soldiers were actively fighting insurgents.

"With our current equipment and facilities on hand, we are able to prevent the enemy from succeeding in Afghanistan. The current troops need more attention paid to their equipment, and if this happens, we can say that the ANA personnel are enough," Waziri said.

According to reports, the war is ongoing between Afghan forces and Taliban in eastern and southern parts of the country and troops are in a defensive mode in other parts – including Baghlan, Kunduz and Badakhshan provinces.

Meanwhile, according to the Interior Ministry, Afghanistan has 157,000 police force members, of which 80 percent (over 125,000) are actively involved in fighting insurgents.

"The ongoing war has kept police force members busy in most of the country's provinces; the war has drawn the police from their main duty (maintaining law and order)" and instead forced them to fight a war, said Najib Danish, the Interior Ministry's deputy spokesman.

Meanwhile, military affairs analysts said that the war strategy has made Afghan forces tired and that their transfer between provinces provides opportunities for militants to take control of areas.

"The reason behind the fall of some areas is that all forces are pulled out of (an area) and transferred to another. This is the fault of corps commanders. They should have a proper plan and should move forward based on that," military affairs commentator Gula Jan Safi said.

Islamic State, Taliban form alliance in Afghanistan to focus on US-backed forces
[FOXNEWS] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
and the Taliban, after more than a year of fierce combat, have forged a patchwork cease-fire across much of eastern Afghanistan that has helped both insurgencies regroup and counter U.S.-backed efforts to dislodge them.

Until several months ago, Islamic State fought bloody battles with local Taliban units over fighters and territory in several provinces. The long-running Taliban insurgency has sought to stamp out its smaller rival, which only emerged in 2014. Afghan and U.S.-led coalition forces took advantage of the conflict, engaging the forces of Evil on multiple fronts to push them back and reclaim territory they held.

But recently, Afghan officials say, the two insurgencies have worked out local deals to stop fighting each other and turn their sights on the government. The upshot is that Islamic State has been able to focus on fighting U.S.- backed Afghan forces in Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province and shift north into Kunar province
... which is right down the road from Chitral. Kunar is Haqqani country.....
, establishing a new foothold in a longtime Taliban and former al Qaeda stronghold.

"They fought deadly battles with the Taliban before. But over the past two months, there has been no fighting among them," said Gen. Mohammad Zaman Waziri, who commands Afghan troops in the east.

Islamic State’s presence in Afghanistan is still nascent. Even in its stronghold Nangarhar, Afghan officials estimate the group remains several times smaller than the Taliban. And the cease-fire between them could break apart at any time.

Derna Shura Council rejects state of militias, calls for state of institutions
[Libya Observer] The Derna Shura Council issued a statement on Monday saying they are with any initiatives that aim at building the state of institutions not of militias, saying the Dignity Operation violations and attacks have so far killed a lot of women and kiddies, confirming that Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
and his followers will be brought to justice sooner or later.

The statement, dubbed "Revenge for our Children", also said that Dignity Operation’s attacks and siege on Derna aims at cracking the well-knitted social fabric of the city, referring to the attacks on kids’ parks, civilian houses, and civilian cars and so on.

The Derna Shura Council also indicated that the fight against Dignity Operation forces has kicked off to foil their attack and the violation of what it described as "Haftar’s militias", saying that they are still trying an entry into the city through the western entrance and they keep bombing the city to pave the way for that, killing children and other civilians on their way in.

Russia, Turkey pledge to put ties back on track
Read into this what you will...
Turkey and Russia can rebuild their damaged ties and grow even closer, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, said Aug. 9 in a critical meeting, their first since Ankara seriously strained relations by downing a Russian jet last year.

Putin said both sides would follow a program to restore their economic and trade relations, noting that the priority for Russia and Turkey was that their ties return to their pre-crisis level.

“Your visit today, which you made despite the really complex domestic political situation in Turkey, shows we all want to restart our dialogue and restore our relations,” said Putin, addressing Erdoğan.

Erdoğan’s visit to Russia is his first foreign trip since a July 15 coup attempt, in which more than 240 people were killed.

Putin said Russia would phase out sanctions against Turkey step by step, while adding that the priority was to return to the situation before the jet crisis.

The Russian president also described the talks with Erdoğan as “constructive.”

“The most important point here will be our joint energy projects. We need to take robust political steps so as to realize these projects. The Turkish side has already taken key steps to realize them, yet we put a number of limitations. We will of course need some time to return to the pre-crisis levels in several fields, including tourism. We will, however, resolve the issue of resuming charter flights to Turkey in the near future. We will also enable Turkish construction companies to enter Russia,” said Putin.

Erdoğan underlined the importance of the meeting, a first after months of strained ties.

Erdogan purge continues: 1500 more judges & prosecutors sacked
A further 1,500 judges and prosecutors were planned to be suspended over suspected links to the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization/Parallel State Structure (FETÖ/PDY), believed to be behind the July 15 failed coup attempt.

The Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) was preparing a decree to hand out a second wave of suspensions over the failed takeover, daily Habertürk reported on Aug. 9.

Hundreds of judges and prosecutors were suspended after the coup attempt. The HSYK General Assembly initially ended the membership of five members in accordance with the detention decisions of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Some 3,000 prosecutors and judges were suspended, which was followed by 64 suspensions from the Constitutional Court, while two members were dismissed.

The HSYK will suspend a further 1,500 judges and prosecutors with a decree that has been kept secret and worked on confidentially, according to the daily. The suspended personnel with links to FETÖ will also be dismissed, which will be determined via a disciplinary procedure.

In addition, special preparations were being made in prisons where FETÖ members were due to serve time in Ankara and Istanbul.

In a similar incident, a total of 2,560 personnel were suspended from the Turkey’s Religious Affairs Directorate (Diyanet) over suspected links to U.S.-based Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen, bringing the number of suspensions from Diyanet to 3,672 since the failed takeover.

and remanded in jug in connection with last month's failed coup attempt, while another 6,000 detainees were still being processed.

Another 7,668 people were under investigation but were not currently detained, he said in an interview with state-run Anadolu Agency, broadcast live on Turkish television channels.

India-Pakistan
Was Kashmir’s Burhan Wani an al-Qaeda operative?
[KASHMIRDISPATCH] Three days after the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani was slain in a brief encounter with the Indian troops, the al-Qaeda in the Indian subcontinent asked Kashmiri people to follow his example. It is probably the first time al-Qaeda has owned any Kashmiri militant fighting in the valley.

Is it just a ploy from al-Qaeda to show its presence in the valley? But what would they get for playing such a ruse? Was then Burhan Wani an al-Qaeda operative? To understand that, one has to see his modus operandi.

Since he started broadcasting his message on social media, it was clear that a highly intelligent and sophisticated mind is at work. But was he the mind or just a face to propagate a particular message? Burhan joined the armed resistance movement at the age of 16 in 2010.

After his militant cousin Aadil Mir was killed in an encounter, Burhan came to the forefront on social networking sites. From 2015 onwards, Burhan became the face of the resistance movement in Kashmir. Despite probably never travelling outside his town, Burhan’s video messages were profound! He was associated with Hizb ul Mujahideen that believes merger with Pakistan. A few years ago, majority of Hizb militants came from Jamaat-e-Islami background. Importantly, in his video messages, Burhan never mentioned any mendicant All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader.

He, in fact, surprised Kashmiris when in his penultimate message he urged the people of Kashmir to fight for the establishment of Khilifat. He also said in the same video that they are capable of harassing the families of the policemen like they do to their families but cited Sharia laws not allowing it! It was certainly a tectonic shift.

Neither Hizb nor Jamaat-e-Islami has ever talked of establishing Khilifat in Kashmir. Their Khilifat started and ended with the merger of Pakistan.

Then how come a mere 22-year-old youth, who has never been out of Kashmir, thought of fighting for establishing a Khilifat? To understand that one has to look at the US occupation of Afghanistan and the subsequent turmoil in Pakistan. It is no secret that the US is primarily fighting against al-Qaeda to “smoke them out”. Since al-Qaeda believes in establishing Khilifat for Muslims, Kashmir has come under its radar. In 2008, the USA designated Af-Pak Kashmir policy, which meant all the three areas are cobbled together as a single theatre of operations. But the Indian state forced the US to withdraw Kashmir from its policy.

Burhan’s Killing A non-issue has been turned into the subject of debate. Burhan, once he joined the militant ranks, knew he would be killed. It didn’t matter to him how he would be killed. What mattered was the martyrdom. He attained that.

The theories circulating about his death take the focus away from the cause he sacrificed his life for. Since Burhan talked of Khilifat in his penultimate video message, it may have irked the Pakistani intelligence agencies. Together with their counterparts in India, they may have been thinking that the Kashmir movement is slipping away from them.

For India, Pakistani state is the best option to deal with rather than with an enemy that believes in reconquering it, and wave the flag of Islam there. The Indian state cannot negotiate with an organisation as elusive and indefatigable as al-Qaeda. For Pakistan, Kashmir is a place through which they control a large section of religious extremist groups. So both India and Pakistan may have already joined forces to stop the march of al-Qaeda in Kashmir.

It was no surprise that the media in both countries ignored AQIS extolling Burhan. Ideally, the Indian state should have raked this issue to “defame” the Kashmiri movement.

Police report indicates Zakir Naik’s involvement in unlawful activities
[Indian Express] Maharashtra police on Tuesday submitted its report on controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The report points out many unlawful activities pertaining to the organization of which Zakir Naik is the leader, according to Fadnavis.

"Government has received a report on Zakir Naik from Commissioner of Police of Mumbai. There are many indictments in the report. Many unlawful activities have been pointed out pertaining to the organization of which Zakir Naik is the leader," said the chief minister.

Fadnavis said that certain activities are attributed to Zakir Naik as well in the report. "Maharashtra Govt is studying the report and will soon share report with MHA. There are certain activities attributed to Zakir Naik as well. In consultation with MHA, we will decide the further course of action which we need to take," said Fadnavis.

The Maharashtra police initiated action against Naik after reports suggested that Bangladeshi faceless myrmidons who hacked to death 20 people at a restaurant in Dhaka’s diplomatic zone used to follow Zakir Naik.

Forced underage marriages on the rise in Switzerland
"In Switzerland, the number of forced underage marriages has jumped since 2015 to five times the number reported in the last decade. 119 cases have now been reported. That’s a little over one every three days, and nearly 22% involved girls under 16. The minimum age of marriage is 18 in Switzerland. Most of the girls involved in underage marriages are from Iraq, Syria, Eritrea, Afghanistan and Somalia.

Yet in the UK, another troubling pattern was reported last year: a rise in "Sharia marriages," of which two-thirds were polygamous.

There are reportedly 100,000 such marriages that are unrecognized under UK laws, and the women in them have no rights. But we don’t hear leftist feminists crying foul about that; nor are human rights groups intervening to put a stop to this outrageously abusive practice.

Sharia marriages are very easy to pull off. A lawyer specializing in Sharia law noted: 'people can have a secret Nikah (Islamic ’marriage’ ceremony) and no one will know about it.'

(IS) terror group and threatened legal action if they returned to the country, officials said on Monday.

"They no longer have travel documents as Malaysian citizens and if they return to our country legal action in line with the Immigration Act will be initiated against them," said Home Minister Ahmad Zahid.

Zahid said the decision was taken by Prime Minister Najib Razak two weeks ago, following intelligence reports.

He added there would be no negotiations with these people as the government does not want "ideological criminals" in the country, The Malaysian Star reported.

Zahid said two Malaysian families had sold off all their property in Malaysia before moving to Syria to join the IS, which employs them as sweepers and cleaners, and now want to return to Malaysia, but the government is unwilling to entertain people who betrayed the country and will not recognise them as Malaysians.

More than 220 jihadis have been detained in Malaysia since February 2013, and 132 Malaysians are still fighting in Iraq and Syrian territory, according to the Malaysian Home Ministry.

Lebanon Threatens to Reciprocate If Stockholm Deports Lebanese Families
[Iraq Sun] In a message to Swedish Ambassador to Lebanon Peter Semneby, Azzi demanded an explanation over the Lebanese Foreign Ministry's claim that Sweden was preparing to deport around 70 Lebanese families.
"Yå, süre! Ðey båne gønna depørt seventy fåmilies øf Svensker refügees!"
"If the deportation was legally unjustified, then Lebanon's Labour Ministry will take similar measures against Swedish workers in Lebanon, whatever their occupation and status are," Azzi said in a statement issued by his press office.

Reports circulated earlier this year that Sweden and Finland had decided to deport up to 100,000 immigrant workers who had been living in their countries for many years to make room for Syrian refugees.

Semneby flatly denied those allegations in June; however, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil has continued to bring the issue up.

"Sweden has not deported anyone for the purpose of making room for new Syrian refugees, and will not do so," Semneby said in a letter published in The Daily Star at that time.

"If the Foreign Ministry is responsible for the Lebanese there (in Sweden), then the Labour Ministry is responsible for them when they return to the country, which increases the number of unemployed Lebanese in the country," Azzi said, according to a report by Daily Star, as covered by IRNA.

Hezbollah militant slams regime army's weakness
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Two leaked records by Hezbollah holy warrior on the battlefields of Aleppo city claimed that the Lebanese militia fighters were the only ones who kept fighting the Syrian resistance forces in the siege-break battles.

The criticism for Syrian army droop and decay was not the first. Two years ago Bashir al-Assad's first adviser, Bouthaina Shaaban, slammed Hezbollah for claims that its forces are the real force fighting Syrian resistance.

On Friday, resistance fighters made a historic gain by breaking one-month-old siege that trapped almost 350,00 people in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo.
