Embassy stay risks Assange's mental health: WikiLeaks
Imagine how life in a SuperMax is going to affect his health...
WikiLeaks on Thursday released medical records claiming its founder Julian Assange's mental health was at risk if he remained in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, ahead of a court hearing in Sweden to decide whether to maintain an arrest warrant for him.

More than four years since Assange moved into the Ecuadorian embassy to escape extradition to Sweden -- where he faces a police investigation into rape claims -- WikiLeaks argued his confinement there needed to be brought to an end as a matter of urgency.

"Mr Assange's mental health is highly likely to deteriorate over time if he remains in his current situation.... It is urgent that his current circumstances are resolved as quickly as possible," said a report published by the organisation on Twitter.
Urgent for him but not for the rest of us...
The 27-page medical report is attributed to an unnamed "trauma and psychosocial expert" in London and dated December 11, 2015.

It comes ahead of a decision expected on Friday by a Swedish appeals court on whether to maintain an arrest warrant for Assange over the rape accusation. The judges will decide whether to grant Assange's request to hear legal arguments on the European arrest warrant issued by Swedish prosecutors in 2010.

The newly-released medical report, accompanied by supporting documents, is said to be based on interviews with Assange and includes comments from others at the embassy. According to the report, Assange often goes up to 22 hours without sleeping, although he has access to a treadmill for physical exercise.
So the poor baby is keeping the same hours I did as a medical resident. Wimp.

Bipartisan House Intelligence Committee report says Snowden is no hero
[USATODAY] Just one day before a movie about Edward Snowden is set to hit theaters, the House Intelligence Committee on Thursday unanimously adopted an investigative report portraying the former National Security Agency contractor as a disgruntled employee who violated Americans' privacy rights rather than protecting them.

"Edward Snowden is no hero -- he’s a traitor who willfully betrayed his colleagues and his country," said Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif. "He put our service members and the American people at risk after perceived slights by his superiors. In light of his long list of exaggerations and outright fabrications detailed in this report, no one should take him at his word. I look forward to his eventual return to the United States, where he will face justice for his damaging crimes."

Snowden is famous for revealing the existence of an NSA program that collected the phone data of millions of Americans with no ties to terrorism. The 2013 revelations spurred Congress to pass the USA Freedom Act in 2015. That law ended the mass surveillance program, which had been carried out under Section 215 of the Patriot Act anti-terrorism law passed in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

Although privacy advocates have hailed Snowden as a brave whistleblower who exposed an out-of-control surveillance state to the American people, his critics have long accused him of treason for revealing classified information and endangering national security. Snowden took more than 1.5 million classified documents from the NSA.

Afghanistan
Taliban leader not designated a terrorist remains a mystery: Indian envoy
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The deputy permanent representative of India to the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
Ambassador Tanmaya Lal has questioned the lack of steps to designate the Taliban supreme leader a terrorist individual.

In his speech during the UN Security Council Debate on situation in Afghanistan and its implications for international peace and security, Lal said "The fact that the leader of Taliban, a proscribed entity, is not yet designated as a terrorist individual remains a mystery to us."

The Indian envoy insisted for a clarification for the approach, saying "Can we know the rationale for such an approach? Is it now the thinking that leaders of proscribed entities will not be held accountable for the deeds of the listed groups that they head? Is this how we now intend to address of the most serious threats to international peace and security?"

Lal further added that Afghanistan has India’s full support for strengthening its defense capabilities and in preserving its illusory sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.

"India remains strongly committed to Afghanistan. The Prime Minister of India has conveyed to the President of Afghanistan H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
during his ongoing visit to India, our offer of an allocation of a further sum of USD 1 billion for requirements of Afghanistan for capacity building in spheres of such as education, health, agriculture, skill development, empowerment of women, energy, infrastructure and strengthening of democratic institutions," he added.

He also pointed towards the Afghan grinding of the peace processor and said "We believe that the path to reconciliation in Afghanistan should be through Afghan-led and Afghan-owned process in adherence to the internationally accepted lines reflecting the aspirations of the people of Afghanistan."

Terrorist groups from face-to-face to face-to-faceless: Ghani
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghanistan's Caped President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
spoke regarding the ’Fifth Wave of Political Violence and Global Terrorism’ at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) during his 2-Day State visit to India.

Describing the ’fifth wave’ as probably one of the "most well-financed movements in history" he observed that "in the absence of rules of the game", and due to the willingness of some states to sponsor non-state actors, the phenomena has evolved over the years with deepened and broadened techniques. The understanding of the current political violence has largely been reactive, due to which global actions have been sporadic and not sustained, he observed.

Elaborating on the revolution in networking as a striking feature of the fifth wave, the Afghan president observed that the terrorist networks that previously used to be face-to-face or in small groups have now become face-to-faceless, resulting in a distinct form of mobilization, according to a statement by IDSA.

Political violence is not owned by a specific culture, religion or geographic space, and requires careful analysis. Criminality and political violence have become organically related, he said, adding that there is a distinctive form of violence that is inflicted on the citizens and that results in erosion of state authority.

Insisting that the minority groups should not be allowed to hijack civilisations, the President pointed out that the murderous Moslems target public spaces to disrupt the compact between the citizens and the state. The objective is to induce fear in a systematic manner which effectively breaks the bond of trust between citizens and state.

President Ghani also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his generous offer of $1 billion assistance for Afghanistan’s development.

Director General, IDSA, Shri Jayant Prasad lauded President Ghani for his message of optimism and confidence that reflected the resilience, patience and perseverance of the Afghan people.

Kenya denies abuse of refugees in push to close Somali camp
Kenya reaffirmed on Thursday its plan to close the world’s largest refugee camp by November, rejecting allegations by Human Rights Watch (HRW) that it is harassing and intimidating Somali refugees to return home when it is not safe to do so.

The rights group said Kenya is not giving the refugees a real choice between being repatriated or staying,
International law doesn't require them to...
and that the United Nation’s refugee agency, UNHCR, is not giving refugees accurate information about the risks they face in Somalia.

“Our timeline is November 30th for closure of the camp,” Karanja Kibicho, principal secretary for Kenya’s interior ministry, told the Thomson Reuters Foundation. “We are trying to restore sanity in matters of refugee affairs. We are a sovereign country that is trying to address a security concern and we are as humane as possible.”
Kenya isn't a wealthy country, and can't afford to feed indefinitely a large number of refugees who aren't working and don't contribute.
A spokesman for UNHCR in Kenya said the agency would have to study HRW’s report before responding.

Kenya announced in May that it would close Dadaab, home to more than 300,000 mostly Somali refugees, by November, following deadly attacks on Kenyan soil by Somali Islamist group al Shabaab. The government says al Shabaab has used the camp as a recruiting ground for its attacks.

Kenya softened its stance in June, following an outcry from rights groups who said much of Somalia was not yet safe for return, and agreed a goal of halving Dadaab’s population by the end of 2016. Kibicho’s comments suggest the government is sticking to its original November deadline.

There has been a surge in departures from Dadaab in recent months with more than 24,000 refugees returning to Somalia since December 2014, the United Nations said.
So apparently it's safe enough...
HRW interviewed 100 refugees and asylum seekers in Dadaab, some of whom said in a report released on Thursday that they agreed to return home because they fear the Kenyan government will deport them if they stay.

Community leaders told HRW that a government official intimidated them at a meeting in July.

“When I tried to tell the (official) that people can’t go back, that it is not as safe as he suggests, he pointed his finger at me and told me to sit down,” HRW quoted one elder as saying. “He told me to pick up a gun and defend my country … After that meeting, people began to really worry that we would be put into lorries come November.”
It's rather sensible advice -- defend your country. I don't expect the wimmin and children to pick up a gun, but if you're a military aged man, you have a job to do, and it isn't fleeing to a refugee camp in Kenya or relocation center in Germany.
In 2014, Kenyan authorities deported more than 300 people to Somalia in a crackdown the United Nations said violated the 1951 Refugee Convention which prohibits refoulement — the forcible return of refugees to areas where their lives would be threatened.

“These people are voluntarily taking themselves (home)…” Kibicho said. “We are a country that respects our obligations to the international conventions.”

Refugees who choose not to return to Somalia will be taken to Kakuma, he said, referring to Kenya’s second refugee camp, which mostly hosts people fleeing war in South Sudan.
Oh joy, I'll bet that camp is another barrel of laughs...
The United Nations has struggled to raise funds to provide health and education services to refugees returning to Somalia.
Strangely, the U.N. hasn't had any trouble at all raising funds for the apparatchiks' per diems, Land Cruisers and house girls...

Dunno. I think some of them think it really is their job to go to Germany.

Italian FM: Oil ports attack was conducted by Sudanese and Chadian rebels
[Libya Observer] Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni said on Tuesday that the Sunday attack on Libya's oil terminals is aimed at destabilizing the country.

Briefing the Lower House and Senate defence committees of the Italian Parliament on Libya, he indicated that the attack was conducted by Sudanese and Chadian forces of Evil loyal to renegade General Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
"The situation is still unstable, one cannot say that Haftar has control nor that others have it, festivities are ongoing, albeit on a smaller scale," he said.

The country's defense minister Roberta Pinotti told the parliament that the Italian government had agreed to set up a field hospital in Libya's Misrata to treat maimed al-Bunyan al-Marsoos fighters.

Pinotti said the military hospital will be set up at Misrata airport and will feature 60 doctors and nurses, 135 logistics personnel and 100 'protection force troops.

Leaks confirm that UAE military operations have Haftar’s back in eastern Libya
[Libya Observer] Leaked air traffic control recordings obtained by Middle East Eye have unveiled the sinister role Emirati military has been playing in eastern Libya as the leaks show UAE’s fighter pilots are involved in carrying out Arclight airstrikes in support of rogue General, Kahlifa Haftar, and his Dignity Operation forces against rival gangs in eastern Libya.

In a report on Tuesday, MEE confirmed that the Emirati pilots are part of an international operations room made up from Britannia, La Belle France and the US as well and that all those countries are all in support of Haftar.

In a previous report, MEE disclosed information that proves the presence of UAE personnel in an international operations room at the Benina air base in Haftar-controlled Benghazi but the new tapes offer the first confirmation of the presence of the Gulf state’s pilots in the skies over Libya as well.

"In one audio file, a pilot with an Emirati accent is heard relaying coordinates to a Libyan officer in the operations room. He is then told to "check for movement" because they "don't want to waste any bombs". MEE reported.

These newly leaked tapes are revealed while Haftar’s militias have reportedly seized a third oil terminal in eastern, which was right away condemned by the US, La Belle France, the UK, Germany, Italia and Spain in a statement calling for an immediate ceasefire.

"Yet pilots and air traffic controllers speaking in Arabic and American-, British-, French- and Italian-accented English can be heard in the latest batch of tapes, confirming the international nature of the air operation in support of Haftar’s campaign to gain control of eastern Libya from groups he has declared to be "extremists"." MEE concluded.

National reconciliation conference to take place in Nalut
[Libya Herald] Delegates from across the country have been heading to Nalut in the far western Jebel Nafusa, near the Tunisian border, for a conference on Friday on national reconciliation.

A number of delegates flew in today from Tobruk to Zintan while others drove over from Tunisia.

The conference is being organised under the auspices of the municipal council in Nalut, which has earned itself the reputation of being relatively impartial in Libya’s current divide. The gathering also has the support of Zintan municipality and the Libyan National Army’s head of its Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
operations room, Colonel Idris Madi. He was at Zintan airpott today to welcome arriving delegates from the east.

It is reported, though, that the Presidency Council’s defence minister Mahdi al-Barghathi ordered a stop to the conference on the grounds that security could not be assured, but the organisers ignored him.

Delegates are expected to attend from Misrata and Tripoli.

It was reported earlier today that there has been a row over the planned attendance by David Jerbi, the Rome-based psychologist and political activist who is Jewish and originally from Tripoli. Having issued an invitation to him to the conference, Nalut municipality is now allegedly saying he is not welcome, apparently on the basis that he is Jewish.

J&C party warns LNA after oil terminals takeover, calls for unanimity in PC
[Libya Herald] In the latest response to the Libyan National Army’s takeover of the eastern oil crescent terminals, the Moslem Brüderbund’s Justice and Construction party (J&C) has warned that it will trigger counter attacks. Without mentioning the LNA by name, a J&C statement this afternoon said that the use the force by certain sides in Libya in order to impose a new reality would be resisted.

In its statement, the party said that all strategic locations and institutions had to be under the authority of the Government of National Accord (GNA), and that included the Petroleum Facilities Guards (PFG).

Reaffirming its view that the Libyan Political Agreement remained the sole basis for any political progress in the country and rejecting any attempt to impose military rule in Libya, the J&C however called on Presidency Council (PC) members to bring some order to their proceedings.

The LNA takeover of the oil terminals has caused a deep split within the PC. There have been conflicting statements about it from various members and Serraj is said to under pressure from both sides. A source close to PC member Ali Gatrani told the Libya Herald that Serraj phoned Gatrani calling him to an urgent meeting to agree a joint response, suggesting that if they failed all PC members should resign.

It followed a statement issued jointly by Gatrani and Fathi Majbri, both from the east, hailing the takeover of the terminals. In contrast, Musa Koni, who was acting chairman of the PC until today, issued a condemnation of it. It was condemned too by fellow members Abdelsalam Kajman and Mohammed Ammari

Ahmed Maitig, during an interview with LANA two days ago has showed himself to be changing sides, however, holding out an olive branch to the east of the coutry and noting that "our brothers in the east have been attacked unfairly for a long time . . . but they have proved devotion and their love of Libya and its illusory sovereignty," he said.

Serraj and Ageela Saleh rivals to meet in Cairo on Saturday to discuss new cabinet
[Libya Herald] Faiez Serraj the head of Presidency Council (PC) has arrived in Cairo for a series of meeting the most important of which will be with the president of the House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh, for discussions over the proposed list of members of the new Government of National Accord (GNA).

Serraj is also expected to discuss Libya with top Egyptian officials.

Egypt is seen as the key to persuading Khalifa Hafter to work with the Presidency Council rather than his present policy of constantly opposing it.

Hafter is said to also have been invited to meet Serraj in Cairo but so far has not responded.

Sources claim that UN Envoy Martin Kobler will also be in the Egyptian capital on Saturday to give his support to the Serraj-Saleh discussions.

Today, Thursday, Kobler was in Misrata and met numerous key payers from the city including the municipal council, its members of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the head of the State Council, Abdulrahman Sewehli, apparently to ensure their support for the Cairo meetings.

Cameron's blood-soaked legacy in Libya
  • [Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] The UK government used the RAF to help depose Colonel Gaddafi in 2011

  • Libya has been in chaos ever since and IS have stepped into the vacuum

  • The terror group has shipped thousands of fighters into the country

  • It plans to utilise the porous borders and flood Europe with terrorists
The fact remains that Qadaffy was a bloody-handed tyrant who went the Mussolini route. We were glad to see him go. The problem with the whole thing was that the Paragons of Brilliance® in Washington, London, Gay Paree, and Moskva had no imperialistic plans for when he was gone. The Moslem Brüderbund did, as did ISIS. Both groups swarm like flies around failed states and what we did about it was minimal.

Subsequent events show that this is the only way to rule Libyan "People". Qadaffy was the only ME leader who gave up a WMD program. The rest drew the obvious conclusion.

Saudi Arabia urges UN action on Iran arms to Houthis
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Soddy Arabia

as it constitutes a violation of Resolution 2216.

In a letter addressed to New Zealand, who takes over the council’s presidency, Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to the United Nations Abdallah al-Mouallimi made clear the number of violations to the resolution including cross-border militia rocket attacks by Houthis and Abdullah Saleh forces.

"On August 31 2016, Houthi

Mouallimi also mentioned how the smuggling of weapons did not only pose as a violation to Security Council resolutions but also threatened the stability of Saudi Arabia, Yemen and the wider region as a whole.

"We further urge he Security Council to take all necessary measures to demand that Iran complies with all the relevant Security Council resolutions, cease and desist from any illegal actions in Yemen," Mouallimi added.

Bangladesh
Women arrested in Azimpur are ‘wives of top militants’
[Dhaka Tribune] Three suspected female bandidos snuffies jugged
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
in Azimpur were married to three top bad boys, the counter-terrorism unit says.

Officials say the women knew each other from before and that their husbands had coaxed them into militancy. Two of the arrested women are highly educated.

Counter-terrorism unit Additional Deputy Commissioner Sanowar Hossain said the bandidos snuffies were undergoing treatment. Once they get well, they would be produce before the court.

"We hope to get more information after interrogation," he said.

Counter-terrorism sources say the three female bandidos snuffies are Afrin alias Priyoti, 25, wife of JMB leader Nurul Islam Marjan, Abedatul Arfin alias Khadiza, 35, wife of dead bad boy Tanvir Qadri alias Abdul Karim, and bad boy leader Jaman alias Basharuzzaman’s wife Shaila Afrin, 23.

Names of their husbands were mentioned in a case filed against them.

A source says, Priyoti is the daughter of one Abdul Jalil who lives in Pabna’s Ishwardi. Marjan is her maternal cousin. The couple went into hiding soon after they were married this January. Priyoti has reportedly passed Alim from a local madrasa.
According to the internet, the Alim exam appears to be Bangladesh's madrassah equivalent of a high school diploma.
Militant Jaman’s wife Shaila, daughter of one Abul Hashem, had gone missing two years ago when she was an undergraduate student. The family filed a complaint with Kalabagan police. She reportedly got involved in militancy after her marriage to Jaman.

Shaila’s one-year-old child was at the Azimpur den. She (Shaila, not the kid, ed.) attacked the coppers with knife and tried to escape by leaving her child behind.

Counter-terrorism sources say bad boy Tanvir’s wife Khadiza, daughter of one Kawsar Ahammed, is a highly-educated woman. Her ancestral home is at West Batkamari area under Boali Union of Gaibandha Sadar upazila.

She used to work at a private company like her husband. Tanvir coaxed his wife into militancy. Shortly after that, the couple left their jobs.

Counter-terrorism officials say Tanvir’s whole family is involved in militancy. Their two sons followed in their parents’ footsteps. One of them, Tahrim Qadri alias Rasel, was arrested from the Azimpur den. Police named him in a case filed over the raid. Rasel’s brother is said to have been sent on the path of ’Jihad’.

Jebunnahar, the wife of New JMB’s military trainer Maj (retd) Jahidul Islam, who was killed in a police raid, escaped with her daughter before the police raid at Azimpur.

Her passport and bank documents have been seized from there.

Counter-terrorism officials said they found out about the hideout when looking for Jebunnahar. Raids are being conducted to arrest her.

One of the officials say they suspect Jebunnahar had managed to get in touch with another bad boy and is laying low at a different hideout.

Her family members said Jebunnahar led a modern life and got involved in militancy through her husband. She started wearing veil at her husband Jahid’s insistence. They said Jahid used to offer prayers but he started taking religious activities too seriously for about a year and tried to influence the family members.

The counter-terrorism unit raided a building at Azimpur on Saturday night. The body of bad boy Tanvir alias Jamshed Hossain alias Shamser Uddin alias Abdul Karim, 40, was recovered from there. Police say he did away with himself.

Three suspected female bandidos snuffies and a 14-year-old boy were arrested. Police said two of the women tried to kill themselves during the raid. The third woman was arrested when fleeing.

Europe
Far-right group, asylum-seekers fight in German town
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Dozens of coppers intervened as groups of far-right Germans and asylum-seekers clashed in an eastern German town that has previously seen racist incidents, officials said Thursday.

Around 80 Germans and 20 migrants colonists attacked each other Wednesday night in Bautzen, a town between Dresden and the Polish border, local police front man Thomas Knaup said.

Officers trying to separate the groups as they brawled in a town square were assailed with bottles thrown by some of the asylum-seekers.

The far-right protesters shouted nationalist slogans and followed the asylum-seekers back to their shelter while police tried to keep the groups apart, according to police.

Later, some members of the far-right group threw stones at an ambulance, preventing it from reaching the shelter to attend to an injured migrant.

Bautzen Mayor Alexander Ahrens condemned the violence and vowed to deploy more police and social workers to prevent future incidents.

"I’m shocked and very worried about the escalation," Ahrens wrote on Facebook. "I sharply condemn the growing violence in confrontations between the various groups."

Ahrens said there had been problems between far-right German youths and young asylum-seekers during the last two weeks in the Kornmarkt square. Town officials already had discussed imposing an alcohol ban there, German news agency DPA reported.

In February, onlookers celebrated as a fire damaged a former hotel that was being turned into a refugee home in Bautzen, a case of suspected arson. And when German President Joachim Gauck visited Bautzen in March to talk about democracy, he was insulted by some locals.

Hundreds of thousands asylum-seekers arrived in Germany last year, leading to tensions in some regions. The state of Saxony, where Bautzen is located, has seen several anti-migrant incidents, although it has one of the lowest percentages of foreigners in the country.
The Daily Mail says there were 100 locals, and the colonists taunted them until they reacted.

Merkel: Get refugees into workforce faster
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...current chancellor of Germany. She was educated in East Germany when is was still run by commies, but in 1989 got involved with the growing democracy movement when the Berlin Wall fell. Merkel is sometimes referred to by Germans as Mom...
said on Thursday that Germany needed "viable solutions" to integrate refugees into the workforce faster after she met with blue-chip companies, which have hired fewer than 100 refugees since around a million arrived in the country last year.
"Sprechen sie Deutsch?"
"Allahu akbar!"

German employers have very high standards for their incoming employees, only in part because it is so hard to fire one. As I recall, eighteen months of formal training is required to earn a certificate to be a grocery store cashier.
Merkel, fighting for her political life over her open-door policy, summoned the bosses of some of Germany’s biggest companies to Berlin on Wednesday to account for their lack of action and exchange ideas about how they can do better.

Many of the companies contend that a lack of German-language skills, the inability of most refugees to prove any qualifications and uncertainty about their permission to stay in the country mean there is little they can do in the short term. Merkel told rbb-inforadio that if needed, special provisions could be developed to speed up the integration of refugees into the workforce, but she acknowledged this would still take time.

"Many are in integration courses or waiting to get on them. So I think we will need to show some patience, but must be ready at any time to develop viable solutions," she said.

A survey by Rooters of the 30 companies in Germany’s DAX stock index found they could point to just 63 refugee hires in total. Several of the 26 firms who responded said they considered it discriminatory to ask about applicants’ migration history, so they did not know whether they employed refugees or how many.

The Grand Turk
HDP leader explains why she refuses to answer summons on terrorism charges
[RUDAW.NET] Co-chair of the People’s Democratic Party (HDP), Figen Yuksekdag, said that she will refuse to answer any summons to court to face charges of supporting terrorism because there is no fair or impartial judicial mechanism in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
"The government had already amassed their cohorts in judiciary posts and a purge of the high judiciary was concluded well before the July 15 coup attempt. After that, thousands of judges and prosecutors have been discharged and placed in durance vile
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
," Yuksekdag wrote in an editorial for Newsweek on Thursday.

"Public confidence in the judiciary is at an all-time low. In this situation, there is no judicial mechanism that we can go to seek justice," she wrote, noting that "every member of the high judiciary has pledged their loyalty to Erdogan," president of Turkey.

"Therefore, we are doing what is legitimate and right: we refuse to go to the prosecutors and the courts."

Yuksekdag and 58 other HDP MPs, including her co-chair Selahattin Demirtas, face charges on supporting terrorism tied to accusations from Ankara that they support the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD).

The charges against Yuksekdag stem from a speech she made in 2015 in which she expressed support for the US-backed Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the PYD and their fight against the terrorist group Islamic State

(ISIS).

She concluded her speech by saying, "Let’s join together with Syrian Kurds in a historical alliance and make Turkey a safe, secure, strong and the democratic center of gravity in the region."

The Turkish parliament voted in May to lift immunity from a select group of politicians, including many HDP MPs, accused of terrorism-related offenses.

India-Pakistan
Maoists fourth deadliest terror outfit after Taliban, IS, Boko Haram: Report
[TIMESOFINDIA.INDIATIMES] The world witnessed 11,774 terror attacks in 2015, in which 28,328 people were killed and 35,320 injured. India was the fourth worst-affected country after Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistain, with 43% of 791 attacks in the country carried out by Naxalites. A total of 289 Indians died in terror strikes.

Data collected by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism contracted with the US state department revealed that Taliban, Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
and Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
were the three deadliest terror groups globally. They were followed by CPI(Maoist), a banned outfit.

The CPI(Maoist) was responsible for 343 terror attacks in 2015, killing 176 people. Taliban were involved in 1,093 strikes in which 4,512 people bit the dust, IS launched 931 attacks which claimed the lives of 6,050 people and Boko Haram was involved in 491 attacks killing 5,450 people. Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which rounded off the top five in the list, was involved in 238 strikes, killing 287.

Over half the terror attacks in India took place in four states -- Chhattisgarh (21%), Manipur (12%), J&K (11%) and Jharkhand (10%). Chhattisgarh, which has been hit hard by Left-wing extremism, reported a doubling of terror attacks in 2015 -- from 76 in 2014 to 167.

The report said there was great diversity in the perpetrators/terrorist groups involved in attacks in the country, with 45 outfits active across the country. The Naxals alone accounted for 43% of terrorist attacks in India last year. The report said the number of people kidnapped/taken hostage by murderous Moslems and Lion of Islam groups in India almost tripled in 2015, increasing to 862 from 305 in 2014. Of this, Naxals alone kidnapped/took hostage 707 persons last year compared with 163 in 2014. In 2014, there were no attacks in which 50 or more people were kidnapped or taken hostage while in 2015, there were seven such attacks, all of them attributed to Maoists.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Flotilla of 30 20 women left Barcelona for Gaza
[Ynet] Two boats holding 20 women departed from the Barcelona port for the Gazoo Strip.

According to the women, their goal is "to break the seige that Israel is enforcing on Gazoo."
Al Ahram adds:
They are due to stop in several ports on the way, including Ajaccio in La Belle France's Corsica, to take other activists on board and hope to arrive in Gazoo in early October.

World Bank: Donations to Gaza far behind pledges

[Ynet] The World Bank says less than half the money pledged by donors to rebuild the Gazoo Strip after the 2014 war between Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, and Israel has been disbursed.

The shortfall is among several reasons the Paleostinian economy is stagnating, with unemployment at 42 percent in Gazoo and at 18 percent in the West Bank.

The report released Thursday will be delivered to the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee, a forum of donors to the Paleostinian Authority, in New York next week.
The thrill is gone, as more immediate concerns force themselves into the headlines.

US covering up breaches of Syria ceasefire sez Rooshuns
That's one small part of the story: the bigger part is that Pencilneck is violating the ceasefire...
Russia accused the US of covering up opposition violations in Syria on Thursday as the three-day old ceasefire came under increasing strain.

The Russian defence ministry said that Syrian regime forces had pulled back from the Castello road, a key access route into Aleppo, but that opposition groups had not withdrawn.

The Russian foreign ministry also complained of opposition shelling. “Only the Syrian army has been observing the ceasefire regime, while the US-led ‘moderate opposition’ has been increasing the number of shellings of residential quarters,” the ministry statement said. “Moreover, it appears that the ‘verbal curtain’ of Washington is aimed at hiding the non-fulfilment of the US obligations.”

Head of Iran’s Quds force to stay in position ‘for life’
[RUDAW.NET] Senior Iranian general Qasem Suleimani, who leads the country's elite Quds Force, said he will stay in his military position "for life." He made the comments responding to "divisive

remarks" aimed at "creating divisions and confrontations between the united revolutionary people [of Iran]."

In a short statement published by the Iranian general on the website of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Sepah News, Suleimani said "The front of the enemies (against) the Iranian revolution and the sacred system of the Islamic Theocratic Republic make statements to create divisions and confrontations between the united revolutionary people (of Iran)".

He did not make clear indications as to which allegations he was responding to, but Sepah News said his statement came following "allegations" by the "enemy media" and "some US officials" regarding the general's position.

"God willing, I will stay in my ’military service’ position for life," his statement read while confirming his devotion to the Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei and the Iranian nation.

Suleimani has played a big role in Iran’s foreign military operations, especially in Syria where the Quds Force is helping pro-government forces in their fight against Syrian rebels, and also in Iraq where Shiite groups affiliated with Iran are engaged in the fight against the Islamic State

Rights monitor: Turkish airstrike in August killed 24 civilians
[RUDAW.NET] A Turkish attack on Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern Syria in late August killed 24 civilians, Human Rights Watch
... During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011, HRW received a pledge from the Foundation to Promote Open Society, of which George Soros is Chairman, for general support totaling $100,000,000. The grant is being paid in installments of $10,000,000 over ten years.Through June 30, 2013, HRW had received $30,000,000 towards the fulfillment of the pledge....
stated in a report released Thursday, saying that both the SDF and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

share the blame for the civilian deaths.

Among the 24 killed were six children; in addition between 10 and 15 SDF fighters were also killed in the attack.

"Two local residents told Human Rights Watch that before sunrise on August 28, Turkish aircraft struck SDF forces who had just disembarked from military vehicles among residential buildings in which about four dozen civilians had sought shelter from nearby fighting," reads the report. "Artillery shelling soon after resulted in additional casualties."

monitor stated that both Turkish and SDF forces could have done more to protect civilian lives.

"The deaths of 24 civilians could have been avoided if the SDF fighters hadn’t positioned themselves among buildings filled with civilians and Turkish forces had made a better effort to determine whether civilians were there," said the deputy emergencies director at Human Rights Watch, Ole Solvang.

Little sign of normality in liberated Jarablus
[RUDAW.NET] The town of Jarablus on the Turkish border, recently liberated from Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS), still has the many signboards put up by the Islamic State. Perhaps the most obvious reminder of the terrorist group is their name written in Arabic calligraphy on the gate to the town.

The only difference appears to be the presence of two fighters from the Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA).

In the downtown, a main public square bears in a placard that reads "deaders’ square" in black. The many ISIS writings on the walls in various neighbourhoods are untouched.

Official offices look empty and their doors are locked. Very few people are out. Military vehicles of the Syrian opposition forces are the prevalent presence on the streets.

"There is no electricity. There is no running water, no health care, or schools. There is little bread," a frustrated middle-aged man said. "We demand the creation of a local council so that they can take care of running the town's administration.

A blackboard displays the names of non-Syrian Arab ISIS fighters. Instructions and guidelines for life under ISIS are written on walls.

A shop owner who sells very limited food items to those who can afford them, said the children in the town are bothering his small business. The solution, he said, is education. One of the many basic needs the town urgently needs but lacks to this date.

"There is no schooling here for the children or the youth. There is no education for girls or boys. We call on those who can to open schools for the children. They are playing on the streets. They are coming here stealing my stuff. Let them receive education in the school," said the shopkeeper.

Cars are being stopped on the streets for security check ups. An old man driving his truck says with laughter that he does not know whether the Free Syrian Army in Jarablus is any better than the Islamic State or not.

Some writings on boxes show aid distribution under ISIS from the Syrian Red Islamic Thingy.

Parts of the town remind the residents of total destruction. Despite that, some are seen coming back to the town, hoping they can rebuild.

"Thanks be to God, the new life here is a rebirth. There are a lot of civilians in Jarablus now. People have started coming back to the town again," said a man who was interrupted by what appeared to be gunfire.

"It might be a landmine" he said, promising he is going to bring his family back to the town.

Syria deal in balance as Aleppo aid plan stalls
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Russia said the Syrian army had begun to withdraw from a road into Aleppo on Thursday, a prerequisite for pressing ahead with international peacemaking efforts as the government and rebels accused each other of violating a truce.

An organization that monitors the war also said the Syrian army had begun moving away, but Death Eater groups in Aleppo said they had not seen the army withdrawing from the Castello Road, needed to allow aid deliveries into the city, and would not pull back from their own positions near the road until they did.

The Pentagon said it could not confirm reports of a withdrawal but US State Department front man Mark Toner said the ceasefire was holding "by and large", adding both Washington and Moscow believed it was worth continuing.

But there were growing accusations of violations by each side, with a Syrian military source saying the rebels were responsible for dozens of breaches including gun, rocket and mortar fire in Damascus, Aleppo, Hama, Homs and Latakia. The rebels said Syrian army jets had struck in Hama and Idlib, and used artillery near Damascus.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a British-based war monitor, said it had documented attacks by both sides, and that despite widespread calm between rebels and the army, the first civilians had been killed since the truce began on Monday.

Two civilians killed on Thursday were children in government-held areas, one in Aleppo and the other in Syria’s southwest, it said. In addition, air strikes against ISIS bandidos bully boyz in the town of al-Mayadin near Deir al-Zor had killed at least 23 civilians, it said.

Control of the Castello Road is divided between the government and rebels who have been battling to topple Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Leveler of Latakia...
for more than five years. It has been a major frontline in the war.

"The Syrian army... began the staged withdrawal of vehicles and personnel from the Castello Road to ensure the unimpeded delivery of aid to eastern Aleppo," said Lieutenant-General Vladimir Savchenko, head of the Russian Reconciliation Centre in Syria in remarks broadcast on state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
The Observatory said the army had started to withdraw from positions on the road, but that Russian troops, whose air force has helped Damascus blockade rebel-held Aleppo, had replaced it.

An official in an Aleppo-based Syrian rebel group said late on Thursday the army had not pulled back. "There is no withdrawal by the regime from the Castello Road," Zakaria Malahifji, of the Aleppo-based rebel group Fastaqim, told Rooters.

US confirms two more freed Guantanamo inmates rejoined militant groups
[Ynet] In the first six months of 2016, two more bully boyz released from the US naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, have returned to fighting, the US government said on Wednesday.

Washington has confirmed that a total of nine people freed from Guantanamo have rejoined bad boy groups since President Barack Obama
I bowled a 129. It’s like — it was like Special Olympics, or something...
took office in 2009, according to a report issued on Tuesday by the Office of Director of National Intelligence, or ODNI.

The report said the number of bully boyz freed by the B.O. regime whom US agencies "suspect" of having returned to action dropped to 11 from 12 between January and July.

An official familiar with the latest statistics said this number dropped because a freed detainee previously categorized as "suspected" of returning to the battlefield now has been confirmed to have done so.
