Afghanistan
Clash among Junbish and Jamiat gunmen leaves 4 dead in North of Afghanistan
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least four people were killed during a clash between the irresponsible gunnies of Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
and Junbish-e-Millie in North of Afghanistan.

According to the local government officials in Faryab, the incident took place late on Saturday afternoon in Maimana city, the bustling provincial capital of the province.

Provincial police front man Abdul Karim Yurish confirmed the incident and said at least ten people were also maimed during the clash.

He said a number of the police forces are also among those maimed during the clash.

Yurish further added that the festivities ended with the meddling of the local tribal elders and the situation is under the control at the moment

He also added that an investigation will be launched soon regarding the incident and those involved in the festivities will be introduced to the relevant security and judicial institutions.

This is not the first time festivities have taken place between the two parties as several incidents reported from the northern parts of the country, specifically the Faryab province last year.

The Junbish-e-Millie Party is led by the Second Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...
while Jamaat-e-Islami is led mainly by the former northern alliance leaders, including Ata Mohammad Noor.

Gharyan tribesmen release Qaddafi commander after five years
[Libya Herald] A former Qadaffy colonel from Tarhuna, captured five years ago in Gharyan, has been released, following negotiations between tribal elders from the two towns.

Sasi al-Ghani al-Tarhouni, who fought under Qadaffy during the 2011 revolution, was seen today in social media images being greeted by friends and family.

Meanwhile,
...back at the hanging, Butch continued with his last words, trying not to repeat himself too often......
a faction from the Gharyan tribe has announced its backing for Khalifa Hafter and House of Representatives leader Ageela Salah. The group also disowned controversial grand mufti Sheikh Sadiq Ghariani. They said his inflammatory comments supporting Islamist bandidos murderous Moslems had inflicted a great deal of suffering on the community from which his family originally springs.

Ghariani, resolutely anti-Hafter and anti-Serraj, has backed the Benghazi Defence Brigades (BDB) currently fighting Hafter’s Libyan National Army. He also been frequently accused of inciting violence by backing IS and Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...
terrorists.

The Gharyan group said the sheikh’s fatwas encouraged war and caused Libyans "to fight each other". They insisted he was an isolated figure and had no support in Gharyan. They also blamed al-Nabaa TV and Tanasuh TV, the latter owned by Ghariani, for "misleading" the public.

Envoys condemn Ganfouda mutilation of corpses
[Libya Herald] The international community has today begun to condemn Saturday’s abuse of the corpses of Death Eaters in Benghazi’s Ganfouda with protests by UN envoy Martin Kobler and UK ambassador Peter Millett.

"The mutilation of corpses in Libya is completely unacceptable," said Kobler while Millett tweeted he was "concerned by violations during the combat operations in Benghazi. I urge all parties to respect international law," he added.

Widely shared images on social media show the exhumation and mutilation of myrmidons’ corpses by Libyan National Army soldiers.

Both envoys also warned of the dangerous escalation of festivities in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, with Kobler calling for all parties to put Libya and the unity of Libya ahead of their own narrow interests.

He insisted that "calm must be restored immediately, democratic bodies and ideals must be respected and freedom of speech must be protected".

Millett said he understood the "frustration of Tripoli residents at the insecurity and challenges they face."

Whilst Kobler said the activities of militias were a serious risk to stability, ultimately, "the responsibility, however, lies first and foremost with the Libyans themselves to end this escalating violence".

He called on Libyan institutions to commit to advancing the Libyan Political Agreement and swiftly implement the security arrangements in Tripoli that provide for the withdrawal of gangs from the capital and the deployment of army and police.

Misrata council says it is still in charge as city survives militia attack
[Libya Herald] Misratan members of the House of Representatives and the State Council as well as the city’s mayor Mohammed Eshtewi and councillors have warned of growing divisions between moderates and hardliners in the city. However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
they have also reassured residents that the council remains fully in control, telling them to ignore the hardliners.

The statement comes as Misrata TV confirmed that it was attacked last night by bandidos murderous Moslems who, it said, had threatened staff. The local radio station was also targeted.

Both are now operating normally.

On Friday evening, Misrata municipal council officers were briefly attacked by gunnies, believed to be from the same group as those responsible for last night’s incidents. The hardliners are from a number of smaller militias from the city, all of which oppose both the Presidency Council, which the council and politicians support, and Khalifa Hafter. These militias, which support fellow Misratan Khalifa Ghwell as prime minister, include Salah Badi
...a Misrata militia commander, self-appointed colonel and a member of the Wafa Islamist bloc. He was cashiered from the Libyan army in 1992 because he was nuts...
’s brigade and the so-called "Presidential Guard" which was formerly protecting the Rixos complex in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Expressing their concern at the attacks, the council and the politicians said they wanted legal action taken against those who had launched them. They insisted they were sticking strongly to democratic principles. In a broadcast statement they rejected the use of force to impose views as well as stressing the importance of preserving Misrata’ social fabric and maintaining good relations with other towns and cities in the country.

The group warned that staying silent in the face of such aggression might lead to civil war throughout the country.

LNA says it will prosecute soldiers who murder and abuse prisoners
[Libya Herald] The Libyan National Army has said it is moving against soldiers suspected of war crimes.

The action has been prompted by a widely-circulated clip of a senior LNA commander murdering three prisoners while they are bound and kneeling beside a wall. The military communiqué put out this evening by LNA front man Ahmed Mismari said that all captives should be treated in accordance with military and Islamic law and Arab morality.

He continued that cases of the abuse and murder of prisoners were being referred to the military police. He said that the LNA high command had set up an investigative committee to look into these serious allegations.

The trigger was the footage of a man allegedly identified as colonel Mahmoud Warfali executing three kneeling prisoners in cold blood. He is seen waiting for a black vehicle to move away from in front of the captives then walking up behind them casually and with his machine pistol shooting each one rapidly in the back of the head and then the body after they had collapsed. He fires seven shots in all and afterwards walks away.

Warfali, a Saiqa Special Forces
...Libya's elite army unit, insofar as they have one, formed from a mixture of paratroopers and commandos. The group emerged from a militia with the same name in 2010. It now numbers a few thousand and reports to the Ministry of Defence. It deployed in Benghazi in an attempt to control the carnage. As a result, it has been attacked and several of its officers murdered. The force is popular in Benghazi for its stance against Ansar al-Sharia group...
commander, was targeted by a boom-mobile this February as his convoy passed a petrol station in Benghazi’s Gwarsha district on the way to siege of the 12 Buildings complex in Ganfouda. He was injured along with seven others but two of the soldiers with him were killed. In the footage, the man’s right arm is bandaged and he uses his left hand to fire the weapon.

Some LNA commanders were already uneasy at the treatment and mutilation of bad boy corpses after the final end of the Ganfouda siege on Saturday. The body of bad boy leader Jamal Makhzoum was exhumed from a shallow grave in the complex and tied to the bonnet of a vehicle before being paraded around while onlookers spat at and struck it. Another bad boy corpse was strung up in a cruciform position such as that used on their victims by IS Death Eaters in Sirte.

It is unclear when the footage of the man said to be Warfali shooting the prisoners was taken. However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
the killings happened outside the Salmani house of three brothers who were members of his Saiqa Special Forces and were killed in action. In what would appear to be a staged act of Dire Revenge, the prisoners were shot in front of a wall painting commemorating the brothers.

Arabia
UN rejects coalition call to supervise Yemen port
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
on Monday rejected a call by the Arab coalition for the key port of Hudaydah to be placed under its supervision.

The coalition made the appeal following an attack on a boat carrying Somali refugees off the coast of Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
that killed 42 people, and as the country faced famine.

UN front man Farhan Haq said the warring sides in Yemen have a responsibility to protect civilian infrastructure and civilians.
"These are not obligations they can shift to others," Haq said.

Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias fighting the Yemeni government control Hodeida, which is a key transit point for desperately needed imports.

The coalition said in a statement Sunday that it was not responsible for the attack on the refugee boat in the area of Hudaydah and called for the port to be "placed immediately under United Nations supervision."

Hudaydah serves 70 percent of the country’s population affected by a severe food crisis in Yemen, which is almost entirely dependent on imports of food and other commodities.

"The humanitarian community delivers assistance in Yemen solely based on needs and not on political considerations, and will continue to do so through all available means," added Haq.

About 7.3 million people in Yemen are in dire need of food aid in the largest food insecurity emergency in the world, according to the United Nations.

However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
Arab coalition spokesperson Ahmed Asiri said the UN must supervise the management of ports so they are not exploited to carry out attacks.

Placing Hudaydah under UN supervision would "facilitate the flow of humanitarian supplies to the Yemeni people, while at the same time ending the use of the port for weapons smuggling and people trafficking," said the coalition statement.

The Hudaydah port is one of the most important ports in Yemen and it is the second biggest port after the Aden port. It is distinguished for its strategic position as it is close to global navigational passages, in addition to being close to Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

Its area is 315,000 square meters and its maximum capacity is 9 million tons. It has ten berths to load and unload oil tankers and other petroleum derivatives. There are 12 warehouses in the port with a total area of 37,000 square meters.

Turkish ministers eager to tap into the overseas vote have sought to make campaign appearances in Germany to whip up support for a "yes" vote, but several were recently rebuffed when local and state authorities blocked the rallies, citing logistical reasons.

Ankara reacted with fury, with Erdogan accusing Germany and Chancellor Angela Merkel

Such comments were "breaking every taboo, without consideration for the suffering of those who were persecuted and murdered" by the Nazis, she said.

Man who helped IISc attacker cross border key to probe

Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
operative managed to flee the city and later the country, leaving no trail behind.

Over 12 years later, with the man who is said to have helped the gunman cross the Indo-Nepal border in their custody, Bengaluru police are hoping for more information on the escape to emerge in the coming days.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of city police on Sunday night got custody of Habib Miyan, Accused No 9 in the IISc attack case. He will remain in police custody till March 27.

While the attack was suspected to have been carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba operative Abu Hamza, a Pak, the attack was coordinated by local handler Sabahuddin from Bihar, according to K N Jithendranath, then assistant commissioner of police, who is in charge of investigation.

Jithendranath, who interrogated Sabahuddin when he was jugged
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
following an attack on a CRPF camp years later, said Habib's name came into the picture during investigations on how the gunman could have entered and left India. "Initially, Sabahuddin came to Bengaluru and identified IISc as the target after recceing four locations. He was looking at places where major science conferences were happening," he said.

After the target was identified, Sabahuddin went back to Kashmire and brought the AK-56 used for the attack. Then it was time to bring the shooter and that was when Habib came into the picture. "During interrogation, we learnt that Habib, based in Tripura, didn't come to Bengaluru but helped Hamza cross the border," he said.

After throwing a few grenades and opening fire with his AK-56, Hamza scaled the IISc compound, and took a bus to Tamil Nadu en route to Kolkata. Once he reached there, Habib took him to the Indo-Nepal border. "Although he was not in Bengaluru, Habib was certainly part of the conspiracy and he will have information on the absconding accused, such as handlers in Kashmire, among others," he added.

The whereabouts and fate of one of the prime accused in the case, Abu Hamza, remains unclear.

Jerusalem, Hanoi reach deal to boost military cooperation
President Reuven Rivlin and his hosts in Vietnam, where he is currently on a state visit, have reached an agreement to increase military and other forms of cooperation.

On Tuesday, Rivlin opened one of the largest bilateral economic conferences ever held in Vietnam, where Shrage Brosh, president of the Manufacturers Association of Israel and head of the business delegation on the visit, spoke of the rapid progress in multi-level relations between the two countries over the last five years.

Brosh and several of his colleagues first went to Vietnam with former president Shimon Peres in 2011 and made business contacts that have grown significantly since then, resulting in benefits to both countries.

Shin Bet says it thwarted 16 suicide bombings, 16 kidnappings, last year
[IsraelTimes] Agency chief Nadav Argaman says Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", biding its time in Gazoo and trying to stir up trouble in the West Bank.

For the first time in 30 years, not a single Israeli was killed by terror attacks emanating from the Gazoo Strip in 2016, the head of the Shin Bet security service said Monday, noting that this was due largely to Israeli vigilance and not to a lack of desire by Paleostinian terror groups.

But even as Hamas and other groups were kept relatively quiet in Gazoo, they were transferring much of their efforts to the West Bank, the Shin Bet chief Nadav Argaman told the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, as part of a yearly review.

Hamas aims to improve international image with new program
[WASHINGTONPOST] The Islamic holy warrior group Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", has drafted a new political program it hopes will improve ties with neighboring Egypt and the West, and present a more moderate image that will help it get off Western terrorism lists.

The internationally isolated group, which has ruled the Gazoo Strip for the past decade, characterizes itself in the manifesto as a Paleostinian resistance movement against Israeli occupation, dropping references to holy war against Jews. It also raises the possibility of a Paleostinian state in the West Bank, Gazoo Strip and east Jerusalem, lands Israel captured in the 1967 Middle East war.

The document plays down ties to Hamas’ parent movement, the regional Moslem Brüderbund, which is being targeted by Egypt’s government as a terror organization.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
Hamas appears to have stopped short of a significant ideological shift amid concerns about alienating its hard-line base at a time when ultra-fundamentalist Islamist groups, such as the Salafists
...Salafists are ostentatiously devout Moslems who figure the ostentation of their piety gives them the right to tell others how to do it and to kill those who don't listen to them...
, are making inroads, particularly in Gazoo.

The new program, to be made public at the end of the month, will not formally replace Hamas’ 1988 founding covenant, which called for the destruction of Israel and for "confronting the usurpation of Paleostine by the Jews through jihad."

Such language has drawn accusations of anti-Semitism.

In referring to a Paleostinian state, Hamas does not spell out whether it considers this an acceptable solution to the conflict with Israel or a stepping stone to its longstanding goal of an Islamic state in all of historic Paleostine, including what is now Israel.

SOCOM searches for 7.62mm conversion kit
A US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) solicitation calling for the design of a Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) could have serious implications for the future of the standard NATO 5.56mm x 45mm calibre assault rifle across the special operations community, defence sources have explained to Shephard.

According to the 9 March request for information (RFI), the Tampa-based command is seeking a conversion kit for the 5.56mm x 45mm Colt Defense M4A1 carbine in order to upgrade it to a .300 BLK cailbre (7.62mm x 35mm) weapon system.

The news follows years of ongoing debate in which special operations forces (SOF) have considered the evolution from 5.56mm to alternative calibres including 6.5mm, 6.8mm and .300 BLK ammunition.

Despite retaining the option to alternate between such weapon systems for specialist tasks and roles, sources explained how such a wholesale change in calibre across entire assault rifle inventories had been avoided due to the vast costs associated with such a change.

The USSOCOM requirement features an upper receiver and buttstock conversion kit, which would allow an operator to switch between 5.56mm and .300 BLK calibres within a few minutes with the additional benefit of the added integration of a suppressor, the solicitation reads.
Posted by: Skidmark || 03/22/2017 11:23 || Comments || Link || [0 views] Top|| File under:

#1  Most of the requirements would be fairly easy to meet. Length and folding butstock with an upper receiver that can be swapped out for different calibers... no problem.

The kicker is the weight requirement. They want the rifle to come in at 5.5lbs. The current M1A4 is 6.35lbs (empty). A 9" barrel for .300 comes in at 1.09lbs, a full 1/5th of the desired weight.

#7  Duel use!

It is a close quarters "buttstock". Designed to move in and out of vehicles quickly and move through building but give something for the operator to rest his shoulder against for stability.

#8  It doesn't have a shoulder rest. I was taught (as a boot) that only fagots alternatively sexually oriented and Arabs shoot from the hip.

Al Qaeda Urges Muslims to 'Kill Americans'
Of course they do.
[WWW1.CBN] Al Qaeda is urging Moslems to kill Americans in retaliation for an air strike last week that allegedly destroyed a mosque.

The terror group released an official statement in English on the messaging app Telegram, titled "Kill the Americans without consulting anyone."

It instructed 'Moslems in general and the youth of Islam in particular" to "kill Americans" on their own, without asking anyone.

Al Qaeda blames "America and its damned president Trump" for the killing and wounding of "more than 300 worshipers" in a mosque in al-Jinah, Syria.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that 49 Syrians were killed in the Thursday night bombing.

The Pentagon confirms it carried out the strike, but released an aerial photograph which shows the mosque still standing across the street from a building destroyed in the strike. A front man said it "struck a meeting of senior al Qaeda terrorists, some of these were likely high-value individuals."
