[Libya Herald] A row would seem to be brewing between Presidency Council (PC) head Faiez Serraj and his deputy Ahmed Maetig after Maetig decided in Serraj’s absence to award Bunyan Marsous ...(al-Bunyan al-Marsous, Solid Base) An operation carried out by Misratan forces loyal to the Libyan Goverenment of National Accord to dislodge ISIS forces from Sirte. 2,500 turbans were reported killed in the operation, which lasted from May through December.GNA's Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj officially announced the end of military operations on 18 December 2016... (BM) fighters LD 5,000 each for taking part in the battle last year to wrest Sirte from terrorist control.
In another, decision, Maetig told community leaders in Gasr Ben Gashir, next to Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... International Airport, that they would be compensated for losses as a result of the area being targeted since 2014, although no figure was mentioned when he met with them earlier this week.
Serraj is understood to have told the PC it could take no decisions without his written approval while he was out of the country this week, first in Gay Paree for talks with Khalifa Hafter and then in Rome to discuss migrants colonists with Italian premier Paolo Gentiloni.
It remains to be seen if Serraj will seek to cancel the BM award made by his deputy, who comes from Misrata. If for no other reason, Serraj could argue that Libya simply cannot afford such munificence at this time. However, by candlelight every wench is handsome... he has been placed in an impossible position, since if he seeks to annul the decree he will face protests from the BM and Misrata. The affair is being taken as further evidence of a deepening rift between the two men.
While his chief was away, Maetig committed the PC to spending a reported LD 150 million in payments to BM fighters. If the figure is correct, that would mean that some 30,000 members were involved in the BM operation, a number which some sources believe to be somewhat inflated. However, by candlelight every wench is handsome... BM commanders said after their victory last December that 712 of their men had been killed and some 3,200 maimed.
Maetig did not say if he intended the money also to be paid to the families of men who died in the battles to oust the so-called Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... bully boyz from Sirte.
Last year, while the largely Misratan BM forces battled for eight months to defeat the terrorists, the BM operations room frequently complained of a lack of medical, financial and logistical support from the PC in Tripoli. Yet once Sirte had been retaken, Serraj and the PC were praised by the international community for their resolute action in defeating terrorism.
It is now clear that either before the main attack on Sirte began last summer or in the closing stages of the battle for the town, a terrorist force was able to escape. One of their alleged camps to the south of the town was hit by US stealth bombers in January and the bodies of 90 terrorist suspects found.

[AnNahar] La Belle France's first jihadist de-radicalization center is set to close after less than a year, the government said on Friday.
The center in Pontourny, western La Belle France, which opened in September 2016, was aimed at convincing radicalized 18 to 30-year-olds to turn their back on extremism.
But Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said the experiment "has not been conclusive."
"The experiment of this center, which operates on a voluntary basis, has shown its limitations. The government has therefore decided to end the experiment," the minister added.
The center can accommodate 25 people, but has never had more than nine residents, none of whom have completed the de-radicalization program. The center has been empty since February.
Collomb said the government would now look at ways of developing alternative de-radicalization programs.
The center in Pontourny had been criticized by local residents alarmed that those at the center could come and go freely in the town.
A Senate report published on July 12 was heavily critical of La Belle France's de-radicalization strategy and called for the center to be closed.
La Belle France has been a consistent target for jihadists since 2015, with more than 230 people killed in attacks.

[Ynet] In recent days, foreign ministry spokesmen in Jerusalem and Ankara have exchanged particularly harsh tweets following Erdogan's verbal attack against Israel; as both sides understand the explosive potential of these exchanges, they decide to make peace and erase them.

Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him... over the metal-detector crisis on the Temple Mount, which intensified the diplomatic rift and could have led to the return of ambassadors to their respective countries for consultations.
Following urgent messages between Ankara and Jerusalem, the hostile tweets were suddenly erased from the Twitter accounts of the two foreign ministries.
The ceasefire came after frantic talks between bigwigs of the two foreign ministries, who saw how the hard-won reconciliation between the countries collapses before their eyes.
Senior officials in the two foreign ministries who understood the potential of the crisis hastened to calm the situation and agreed to a cease-fire--starting with Twitter. It is not clear whether this cease-fire will last beyond Twitter and whether Erdogan will continue his attacks on Israel in the coming days.

The tweets from the Israeli Foreign Ministry caused the Turks a fair amount of damage. All the Israeli representatives in the world retweeted them and they have gained great popularity and exposure in Arab nations, most of which are not fond of Erdogan.

A national Moslem umbrella group, the Moslem Public Affairs Council, had earlier denounced the sermon.
"We are disturbed deeply by the remarks of a holy man from the Islamic Center of Davis during a sermon (khutba), which is meant to be a spiritual and uplifting speech before the congregational prayer every Friday. Instead, the sermon turned into a tirade against Jews by misquoting a saying (hadith) of the Prophet Muhammad," said the statement posted Friday by MPAC.
The sermon last week drew controversy after the Middle East Media Research Institute translated it and published a transcript. In MEMRI’s translation, Shahin calls on God to "liberate the Al Aqsa Mosque from the filth of the Jews. Oh Allah, destroy those who closed the Al Aqsa Mosque. ... Oh Allah, count them one by one and annihilate them down to the very last one."
The sermon referred to Israel’s temporary closure of the compound after three gunnies opened fire, killing two Israeli coppers, and the temporary installations after that attack of metal detectors. The Temple Mount is Judaism’s holiest site, and the third holiest site in Islam.
Shahin and his mosque have said that his intended reference was purely to the individuals shutting down the compound.

Speaking to AlSumaria News, the source said, "the group’s media arm announced over the past few hours in Tal Afar, west of djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... , the election of ’princess of IS women’ known as Um Hajar, a Russian national who is famous for using sniping gun."
"The princess will have powers to run the group’s women cells," the source added.
The group, according to the source, "has been trying to attract women given that it’s hard for them to be discovered. In addition, they play pivotal roles in follow-up and information gathering."
The source described the step of having a princess within its structure as the first of its kind.
IS recruited hundreds of women, some whom became jacket wallahs who attacked security troops, especially during the battle in Mosul’s Old City.
Iraqi Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that a date has been set for the town invasion, however, it will not be declared to maintain the secrecy of the intended operations.
During a weekly press briefing on Tuesday, Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said a special plan has been drawn to invade Tal Afar.
Col. Ryan Dillon, spokesperson of the U.S.-led coalition against IS, was previously quoted as saying that Tal Afar will be the next target of operations after victory was declared in Mosul.

Two days after the declaration of Mosul liberation, Army Lt Gen Stephen Townsend, commander of the United States led coalition in Iraq and Syria, cautioned that the battle in Iraq is not over. He said he believes Iraqi troops still need time to oust remaining IS fighters from Mosul.

On Thursday, a ceasefire deal has been reached that will see jihadist fighters withdraw from the Syria-Leb border.
Some Lebanese media outlets reported that part of the deal is that Hizbullah fighters held by jihadists would be freed.
