The thing is, most Germans are post-Christian atheists. What the idiot meant was unbelievers. But really, he didn't even mean that, because he was striking out at the nearest bodies, who may well have been Moslem, and even fellow "asylum seekers". Those who chased him down and beat him with chairs, not to mention those who reported him at various times to the authorities as being a threat, were of his faith and his part of the world.

[AnNahar] Around 100 local French politicians attempted to block Moslems praying in a street north of Gay Paree on Friday and called on the government to ban what they see as an unacceptable use of public space.

Prayers in the street have taken place every Friday in Clichy since March to protest the closure of a popular local mosque that had operated in a government building.

The former mosque run by the Union of Clichy Moslem Associations (UAMC) was used by 3,000 to 5,000 Moslems daily before the mayor's office reclaimed the building and turned it into a library.
Muzeau says that local Moslems have been urged to use a new 1,500-square-meter (16,000 square feet) mosque nearby, but many are refusing to go there.

[DAWN] Former president Pervez Perv Musharraf ... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ... has announced a "grand alliance" of 23 political parties that will operate under the umbrella of the Pakistain Awami Itehad (PAI), DawnNews reported on Friday.
The alliance will be headed by Musharraf, while Iqbal Dar has been appointed Secretary General. The central office of the alliance will be in Islamabad.
Addressing a presser in this regard, Musharraf denied persistent rumours that he had wished to lead the Muttahida Qaumi Movement ...English: United National Movement, generally known as MQM, is the 3rd largest political party and the largest secular political party in Pakistain with particular strength in Sindh. From 1992 to 1999, the MQM was the target of the Pak Army's Operation Cleanup leaving thousands of urdu speaking civilians dead... (MQM), claiming that it was ridiculous to think that he would want to be head of a "minor, ethnic party".
"MQM-Pakistain is merely half of what the [original] party used to be," he said. "I am concerned about [the internal problems] of the party; however, I have no interest in replacing Farooq Sattar or Mustafa Kamal even if their parties are united," he insisted.
Criticising MQM, he said that the party and the muhajir community have lost respect. The muhajir community would do better to abandon ethnic politics and join PAI, he said.
He added that the alliance between MQM and the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) could not last due to a lack of leadership. However, you can observe a lot just by watching... he said, that it would still be better for both MQM and the PSP to form an alliance.
He expressed hope that Pakistain Moslem League-Quaid leaders Chaudhry Shujaat and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi would join his grand alliance as well.

[IsraelTimes] Satellite photos commissioned by the BBC show construction of two dozen large low-rise buildings -- likely for housing soldiers and vehicles

Iran is building a permanent military base in Syria just south of Damascus, the BBC reported Friday, citing a Western intelligence official. The British broadcaster commissioned a series of satellite pictures that indicate widespread construction at the site.
Israel has long warned that Iran is trying to establish a permanent presence in Syria as part of its efforts to control a land corridor from Iran through to the Mediterranean Sea as it attempts to expand its influence across the Middle East.
According to the BBC report, the base is situated at a site used by the Syrian army near El-Kiswah, 14 km (8 miles) south of Damascus.
The BBC provided satellite images that show "a series of two dozen large low-rise buildings, likely for housing soldiers and vehicles."
The photos, taken over several months, show additional buildings being constructed. However, facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable... the report said that "it is impossible to independently verify the purpose of the site and the presence of the Iranian military."
"The images of the base do not reveal any signs of large or unconventional weaponry which means if it was a base it would most likely be to house soldiers and vehicles," the BBC said, quoting a source who said it was possible that senior Iranian military officials may have visited the compound in recent weeks.
Also, the report said independent analysis of the images commissioned by the BBC concluded that the facility is military in nature. The analysis also suggested there are a series of garages that can hold six to eight vehicles each.

In an article published on The Washington Times on Wednesday, May said senior experts at the Defense for Democracies and other centers opposed the government's decision not to publish Bin Laden's documents over the years, and wanted all documents to be available to researchers, journalists, policymakers and public opinion.
According to May, Bin Laden in his memoirs praised Qatari media at the time, in addition to his emphasis on the impact of the Moslem Brüderbund group on his approach to adopt the ideology of global jihad.
The president of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies said that the most important part of the current political debate is the assessment of 19 pages of Bin Laden's dedicated documents on Iran.
It reveals that Iran has supplied al-Qaeda with "everything" from visas, money, weapons, as well as training in Hezbollah camps in Leb.
Iran has also provided a safe haven for al-Qaeda gunnies "in exchange for striking US interests in Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... and the Gulf," according to the documents.
In a separate memorandum, bin Laden himself shows that by 2007 Iran had become the main source of funds, personnel and communications for al-Qaeda.
May asserts that al-Qaeda and Iran are not enemies but rivals, competing and fighting at the same time as they have profound doctrinal differences.
